(OOC: I'll be on the road/settling in elsewhere the next couple days so might not have that much RPing time. But I'll be back at least by next week.)

"The point of the cat metaphor is, in my view, we can take these phenomena, that usually go on at the microcosmic level. It tends not to matter, any particular atom."

"Right, yeah, if you have a pile of uranium and half of it melts down, it doesn't really matter which half."

"That's...not quite the point I was going for, but okay. We have these phenomena, but suddenly, once we hook a cat up to it, we have effects at a macrocosmic scale hinging upon these quantum events."

"Sure. But so far you haven't hooked us up with any cats?"

"And it doesn't have to be fifty-fifty, does it? You could imagine a more complicated setup, with series of boxes. Maybe the gas would only be released--or, only be released into the chamber where the cat was, you'd have a series of barriers. And each one would only open given a certain set of quantum preconditions--say, three independent triggers. Then you'd have only a one-in-eight chance of having the cat die."

"But would you still say it's both dead and alive, in that case? When the odds are distorted?"

"Well, maybe mostly dead. But that's beside the point."

"I did some reading. There are people who think that human brains might have some quantum activity too--in some important, macrocosmic way that distinguishes us from robots."

"Bah. Morons. They've read of it, but they're full of it."

"Full of what?"

"Full of the same noxious gas plaguing hockey fans who won't shut up. But, just to be safe, we're going to stay away from high-powered computers the next few days. Go into the exurbs and that."

"Exurbs? You're a humanizt? And you're calling me full of it?"

"No, just, we're going there."

"Oh, come on!"

GRAMPA'S STILL GOT IT
John Moncrief records brace in Camwood 2-0 win.

Hours after legend John Moncrief announced his complete retirement from the game of hockey, he put the skates back on again, for one of his final time, and returned to the surface where he tallied two goals from the second line. Meanwhile, goalie Colin Chapman had thirty two saves, and made countless shut-out saving plays, blocking centring passes left and right. Camwood forced the issue of qualifying, and their venture to the Kingdom of Pheonixia, was as successful as ever.

The first period began and ended scoreless, but with Camwood maintaining possession throughout. Five minutes in, the arena was given a light scare, when defenseman Dominic Taylor ripped a slapshot from the point which caught the inside of the Pheonixian netminder. Play went on until Pheonixia was caught offsides going the other way. Medical staff briefly looked at the goalie's arm, but nothing became of it, and he played with little irritation for the rest of the period.

Pheonixia went on the attack in the opening of the second period. They rallied a good five shots in a time frame of less then a minute. The puck kept ricocheting off the pads of Chapman, and back into the clutches of the opponents. Finally, with six minutes gone by in the period, Joesph Martin intercepted an opposing pass and got it up to second line left wing Kevin Carter, who continued up the left boards, creating a two-on-one situation, with Moncrief at his aid. Just past the blue line, Carter wound up for a slapshot, the gently glided it past the opposing defender and into the back of the net. The rest of the period went by with minimal suspense; the period itself ended with Chris Mahonney being involved in a brief fight with a Pheonixian centre.

The third period started with a large dose of physicality, likely ignited by the fight at the end of the second leg. Shoulders were buried left and right, eventually earning a Pheonixian right wing, a roughing call. Moncrief's Power Play line was called to take the power play, and it wasn't wasted. After Pheonixia collected a rebound of the Pheonixian goalie, instead of orthodoxly clearing the puck up the ice, they decided to bring it into the neutral zone, and eventually the attacking third. However, when the Pheonixian left defenseman made a light pass to the right wing, in front and diagonal to the original passer, Moncrief was quick on his blades to intercept the pass, deploy a drag move to get by the defenseman, and the put the puck in the five-hole to score the winning goal.

Camwood was able to dominate the unranked opposition, and withheld second place in the standings. John Moncrief, who's age has earned him the nickname "Grampa", was able to put his increasing age aide and focus at the task at hand: winning. That was ust what Camwood was able to do. Head Coach, Andrew Douglas, said after the game, "Everyone did great. Johnny was able to capitalize on our opponents' defensive mistakes and two to the 'goals for' column. If we can collective forecheck with efficiently, play defensive hockey, and fundamentally attack, we won't have a problem getting past the group stage."

Omega: So was that win impressive enough for you?

Alpha: A 6-0 win at Falconfar, who isn't that bad of a team.. ah... yeah, I'll admit that was impressive.

Omega: Impressive enough for you to want to cancel the bet?

Alpha: It was impressive, no doubt about it, but I've never welched on a bet.

Omega: Wanna go double or nothing?

Alpha: No. I'm crazy, but not stupid.

Omega: Who's up next anyways?

ChocoMilk Plans to Scale Back International Marketing Operations
WITH FOREIGN SALES LAGGING, DRINK COMPANY ADMITS LUXURIES LIKE CAMIAN HOCKEY "PALACE" ARE NO LONGER VIABLE

BNS | Port Kostas, Camwood | Once upon a continent, one company monopolized the lucrative sweetened-beverage market of Rushmore. Its name? Milk. ChocoMilk.

The quality of the milk is debatable - some have called it "Rock-o-Salt" - but the guile and intellect of their advertising department is unmatched. As the nation expanded its role in world affairs, it also became more involved in multiversal economics; ChocoMilk played a big role in both promulgating the existence of Civil Citizenry and proliferating its economic power. The company's name and logo was branded everywhere notable, particularly in the sports world: there were ChocoMilk-embroidered stadiums of all sports - basketball, hockey, soccer, baseball - and many teams and leagues used the company as its primary or title sponsor. It became a symbol of classiness and prestige to be sponsored by or associated with ChocoMilk.

The name once captivated the sports world and the continental economy. But now its omnipresence is rather trite; the benefit of having a commonly-known brand is only a modicum of the profit it once reaped. And the monopolization that was once fresh and trendy is now just an annoyance to consumers, who are tired of public-health ads that remind everyone just how fat you are for drinking five cups of ChocoMilk a day.

At least, that's how it is across the dynamic Rushmori economy. While ChocoMilk's foreign reach is broader than most regional mega-corporations - it has manufacturing operations in four continents, and products can be purchased online in five - it is finding it harder to solidify its global holdings while maintaining its abnormally large marketing budget. Bearing in mind that such dense advertising is now almost deleterious to sales, ChocoMilk officials have announced international marketing is being scaled back. A large part of those cuts includes sponsoring of sports events and institutions.

Spokesman Carl Sherwood identified several athletic-related sponsorships to be slashed. ChocoMilk will no longer be the title sponsor of the Aelsh Rugby Union Premier League; the primary sponsor of Volerander FC, a Swartazian football club; nor the headline sponsor of a hockey arena in Camwood, known currently as the ChocoMilk Hockey Palace.

Citiz 2, Camwood 1
CVC 1 0 1 2
CMW 0 0 1 1
Goals: S. Thornton, C. Aldred
The announcement of the latter part is quite apt because the Palace has recently made headlines across the national sports scene. The national hockey team is currently engaged in a battle for qualification into the Hockey World Cup, and won a high-profile, intense match at the Palace, 2-1. Left wing Collier Aldred put the game out of reach early in the third period: his goal put the Citiz ahead of the Camians by two, and that was more than enough for Pitney Storm to hold the lead and improve the team to 2-0. The Palace is quite nice, no doubt, but few Citiz are dismayed that, after a few legal wranglings are, well, unwrangled, it shall no longer bear the name of ChocoMilk. Fans are too busy watching pucks to worry about drinking salt.

Filopines 0-1 Yesopalitha

Well, well, well. The Flames keep winning by the skin of their teeth in third period goals when they finally break down the opposition's defense. That will come back to haunt them one day, I am sure, but for now, we can say that they are the group leaders and have been playing better than the doubters expected. Oh, it's always good to prove doubters wrong.

Goal today? Scored by none other than Nevin Barston on a power play, a shorthanded shot with authority. Markov contributed another flawless game in the net to continue his streak of games without allowing a goal since he took over for Sergei Dorov.

Next up? Saugeais, a great sporting nation, but a nation making its debut in international hockey. Another easy two points in the books may be imminent, but the Flames really can't afford to slip up at all in this tournament.

Will Markov keep his streak going?

Q stands for quit, which was what the Arctic Wolves did not do in the six-nil loss they received at the hands of Qazox. Qazox may have dominated the game, but the Wolves played it hard until the end.
A stands for almost none, as in the chance that Falconfar had of pulling off this upset. They aren't a top five team for nothing.
Z stands for zealous, which was what the defenders for Falconfar showed in this loss, as they bumped and tackled and tried very hard to disrupt the Qazian offensive rhythm, to no avail.
O stands for outplayed and outclassed, as both occurred in this loss. The players, though, learned a lot from the Qazians.
X stands for xenophobia, which may be what Falconfar fans become if the Wolves continue to lose in this fashion.

After an exciting trip to Cotdelapoms for the Coupe Pomme D'Or Invitational and an historic start to the 2012.3 AHL Season, the Bisons take their World Cup break and travel to Michael VII to face-off against the best teams in the world at the Nineteenth World Cup of Hockey.

A successful third-place run in World Cup of Hockey XVIII sees Head Coach Kad Skirata coming back to the team to take command. However, even if the Head Coach is still in command, the position of Assistant Coach has changed since the last World Cup. With Liu Qiang An retiring from coaching, young Kio Huangshun --- just 32-years-of-age and Head Coach of Northern University --- has been selected by both the National Sports Council, Hockey Gyatso-kai, as well as Skirata himself: An impressively offensively-minded coach, this year will see the Ice Bisons adopt a style of play favouring heavy shots of goal and huge strikes deep in their own zone. Also worthy of note is the continued travelling of the young players within the team just for international experience. Called "Future Bisons" by the media, the Educational and Travelling Experience Program (ETEP) seeks to take young and upstarting players from around the Republics --- both the ASCA league as well as the EKHL, WTHL, and the LHM --- to bring them into the lime light and show them their futures.

Will the program bring success to the team? Only time will tell

As has almost become expected, GyatsoAir --- in partnership with the AHL and the National Sports Council --- have further reduced the prices of airline tickets to Michael VII to facilitate the spectatorship of the nation in Michael VII. In addition, each game the Bisons play in shall be aired on the entire ASPN family of networks (ASPN Prime, ASPN2, AVS, ASPN3, UASPN): All other games shall air on the World Sports Nation and World Sports Nation PLUS, which are being made available on all television and internet-provider services at NO COST from now until the conclusion of the World Cup of Hockey.

The ‘Great Wall of Shu’ makes his fourth trip to the international stage as the starting goaltender for the Ice Bisons. After a very close call in the Dumas Cup Finals against the Montréal Cotdelapomais --- falling 4-2 in the seven-game series --- Shu has his work cut out for him, as rumors stir of the Great Wall being relegated to second-string over the more-youthful Oyvind Asimov. Many in Gyatso-kai feel it is time for the 40-years-old goalie to hang up his pads before he retires in shame. Others --- Kad Skirata and Jango Vhett included --- feel he still has some great years ahead of him, and perhaps by sticking it out in the CDP for one more season may just be the magic touch he needs to finish a career with two of the world's top trophies in the sport of hockey.

His style of play has not changed since he’s left the AHL; your classic butterfly goalie with more of the modern profly positioning of his leg pads, Shu had the fastest reflects of any goaltender in the AHL and now has shown the world his skills. However, he is not as agile as men of shorter stature and as such, is known to lose the puck on the rebound as he attempts to 'catch up' to the play… something he still has not worked around while in Montréal.

A strong defenceman who Skirata has favoured since the Third World Junior Hockey Championships, Sato Sorua is a integral piece of the Bisons' defence. Into his second professional career season, Sato continues to serve as a key player for the Miners; being appointed the second assistant captain position after a strong showing in the 2012.2 AHL Playoffs.

A strong defence player, Sato originally played the right side of the ice, however, Coach Skirata feels that a good defenceman can play both sides and as such, Sato has been switched up to test the theory. One of the greatest back-skaters in the game, he has become a regular facet of the Ice Bisons' defence.

RD – 32– Pakku ITO - ASSISTANT CAPTAIN
Height: 193cm - Weight: 108kg – Age: 32 years old – Hand: R - Team: Itakawai Lightning

The seasoned veteran of the Defensive line, Pakku Ito is returning to National Team with another great season under his belt. Awarded the Shield Trophy for the Most Valuable Defensive Player for the second time in during The 2012.2 Playoffs, Ito has shown time and time again that the trade from The North has definitely played into his favour.

Great on the backskate and known for perfect poke-checking skills, Ito’s greatest strength is his ability to read the ice and predict the play with an uncanny certainty. He isn’t afraid of getting rough, which with his Mandalorian background, should come at no surprise. After three-peating the Kuruk Cup and repeating the Shield Trophy, Ito has continued to prove he is simply an invaluable asset to any team he is on.

LW - 02 – Arnook ISHIDA
Height: 188cm - Weight: 92kg – Age: 23 years old – Hand: L - Team: Albionpool Oak Leafs (CDP)

A solid winger capable of playing both sides of the ice equally, Arnook Ishida's only weakness is his age; though he was drafted at 18 to the Flames, he has gained little experience in the more-offence-based Fire Division and, after three years in Cotdelapoms, his skill-set has begun to show a development.

Even after the Oak Leafs failed to secure the Dumas Cup, Ishida remains in the lineup. Sure, he is soon to enter the prime of his career, with many teams here in Gyatso-kai dying to bring back one of their own. Even Makapu --- the team which drafted Ishida at 18 and the one he left for Cotdelapoms --- are trying to arrange their payroll to make room for the Ishida Buyback, should the option come on the table.

The star forward of the seven-time Kuruk Cup Champions, Hakoda Ishii returns to lead the Ice Bisons in yet another international tournament.

A strong centre, Ishii is able to coordinate many a great highlight goal: With tremendous vision and terrific passing skills, he is the best two-way player in Gyatso-kai. Looking to do even better this time around, you can be sure that Ishii shall light the lamp at least once every game.

Drafted by the Itakawai Lightning after a strong first World Cup performance, Wad'e Tay'haai returns to the first line for WCoH XIX. Having yet another season under his belt, Tay'haai looks to continue developing and, with the prime of his career just over the horizon, now is the time to perfect the skills needed to succeed in this game.

A very strong youthful skater, the fact that Tay’haai garnished a position on the first line is a testament to his strength. A powerful right-winger, his skill in the faceoff is impressive, having yet to lose a faceoff in his entire ACSA career.

Incredibly accurate with his passing and known for his interception skills, Ko has seen some great development while he played in Cotdelapoms. His strength is still one of his greatest assets, an asset he is not afraid to use on the ice; known for putting more than his fair share of men into the boards, Ko garnishes at least two penalties a game for his roughness... Something he is proud of. Many analysis in Cotdelapoms feel that he is simply too good for the Saints, but Ko's devotion and loyalty mean he will not leave them any time soon unless he is physically kicked out the door.

When asked to describe Ko, Coach Skirata compared him to his namesake, the dao --- or sword--- in that he teters on the edge of a finely-honed blade, and just a simple push will slice you in half: Ko is known to divide players with his impressive size and muscle pucks away from the foes before passing them off to an open player. While his shot power is weaker than most players, his accuracy is second only to five-time All-Star Shot Contest winner Hakoda Ishii.

Height: 183cm - Weight: 88kg – Age: 30 years old – Hand: L - Team: St-Fortunat Saints(CDP)

Playing in the AHL for four years and then another four in the CHL, Feng Tao has seen some success in the CHL as of late; with the trade to the St-Fortunat Saints last season, Feng has been pleased to have been re-united with Ko, whome he played with for three season at Omashu. The chemistry is still there, and the coaches of St-Fortuant have been very happy with their acquisition. Feng is known for being a 'double threat", equally able to pull back and block any pass made by the opposition, only to turn that pass around and snipe a shot into goal.

While is backskating is impressive, Feng has struggled with the switch ever since a torn Achielles tendon weakened his right ankle four seasons ago: Many blame his less-than-stellar performance in the WCoH15 on that injury and he has continued the conditioning of that ankle to increase its strength, In addition, he heavily favours the foreshot, almost never taking a backhand to the puck and nearly always shoots from the right side of the ice: Though his style is predictable, the speed and finesse he gives the shot makes the end-result unpredictable.

Drafted by the Itakawai Lightning in the second round during the 2012.2 AHL Draft, Walon Vau has only a single season under his belt with the Lightning. However, that has yet to stop the analysis from making bold predicitions; with Walon having won the Cainiao Award, for best rookie player of the season, there is no telling how Tay'haai will do in the coming 2012.3 season.

Given his strong backhanded shots, Vau is known for his trademark backward's skating goals at KSU; sending a puck on his left side while skating backwards at the last minute. A little childish in Skirata's opinion, but none the less, it garnishes the support of the fans who always enjoy a little showmanship. After spending the last few months working with both Tay'haai and Ishii, Vau is beginning to make improvements in his form.

After last season's mid-season trade to Kyrimorut, Hei Hayate managed to help the Ramikade advance into the Playoffs after securing a first-place position in the regular season. His natural leadership skills, combined with such a fiery charisma, makes Hei a great leader, though to Skirata, he needs a few more years experience before he gets to wear the C.

A very strong centre, much like his first-line counterpart, Hei is known for his strength at coordinating the forward line to execute many a great plays. With excellent vision and adequate stick handling, Hei has earned the respect of his team while maintaining the strength and form of players much younger than him.

RW - 44 – Kal SKIRATA
Height: 190cm - Weight: 89kg – Age: 21 years old – Hand: L - Team: Montréal Cotdelapomais (CDP)

A natural talent, Kal Skirata's skill comes as no surprise, given the history of the Skirata Clan in the Avatarian Sports. However, while the skill Skirata possesses is valued, his experience in international play is low, which is reflected in his nerves as he skates on the ice. Quick to act and slow to think, Kad'buir hopes to break his son of this habit in the weeks leading to the World Cup. He is a strong forward skater, with impressive vision capable of seeing the entire ice and analysing threats; however, Skirata will need to settle into the ice before he jumps up the roster.Returning to his original position of right-wing, whereas in tournaments past he skated on the left side, Skirata is paired

While originally suspected to play his first professional game in Gyatso-kai, Skirata would stun the Republics by signing a two-year contract with the Montréal Cotdelapomais, taking his amazing talent and youth to the CHL. While some back at home feel Skirata betrayed his family with the move, however, his father even came out in support of his son's decision; stating the move would introduce the younger Skirata to more styles of play and gain him 'an invaluable experience'. Nonetheless, in his very first season in the CHL, Skirata would come away with not only the Lapointe Award for the Best Rookie, he was able to take the Cotdelapomais to the Dumas Cup final in which he would face off against Shu and the Royals. A touching moment after the final game was when Shu and Skirata came together in the last line, and gave each other a solemn bow before embracing one another...

Perhaps there is no animosity afterall...

LD – 91– IWAI Itsuki
Height: 188cm - Weight: 96kg – Age: 30 years old – Hand: L - Team: Kyoshi Warriors

A massive man on the ice, Iwai Itsuki has earned the nickname “The Unagi” after the legendary sea monsters who live around Kyoshi Island. Fast and a hard-hitter, Iwai knows how to use his size to usher an opponent into the boards with little to no chance of their ‘survival’.

With a lack-luster style of passing, Iwai must rely on his right defensive partner to get the rock from opponents while he muscles them out of possession. His shooting skills are weak, however, the speed and agility he possess make up for the lack in offensive skills.

RD – 25 – JIANG Tujing
Height: 193cm - Weight: 99kg – Age: 22 years old – Hand: L - Team: Kyoshi Warriors

While many experts at the WJHC saw a great player in the making with Jiang Tujing, Coach Skirata saw a player in need of work. “Much like a sword”, spoke Skirata, “Jiang needs to be sharpened and honed to a sharp point. I see in him much that I saw in (Ito Pakku) many years ago… and hopefully he can come to age much the same.”

With his size, one would expect such a player to be a physical beast with little else to go for him. Instead, what you get with Jiang is a defenceman whose speed rivals the best centres, whose accuracy rivals the best snipers and whose vision is almost unmatched. However, as Skirata said, he needs work until he becomes a viable option on the first line. Luckily for Jiang, he was drafted in 2012.1, declaring a season early, and was drafted in the fourth round by Kyoshi, where we will work under the tutelage of Fukui Oyaji; one of the AHL's greatest defencemen in history.

LW – 28 – KIMA Yagone
Height: 196cm - Weight: 102kg – Age: 32 years old – Hand: L - Team: Republic Capitals

Kima Yagone is a puzzle in and of himself; with the body of a defenceman, one would expect to see Kima shoving players into the boards and checking his way to victory. Instead, we see Kima skating around the net, poking pucks through the nets with effortless ability. His speed is unmatched on the third line and his handling skills is on par with the best of his team.

However, for a player of his age, he has been passed between five different teams in four years and has yet to settle in age. Instead, his maturity off the ice is lacking as is his ‘control’. Skirata had a hard time reigning in Kima’s mouth and attitude last Championship and with the change from right to left, Skirata had his hands full with Kima. However, with time, even the wild stallion of Kima Yagone was broken gently, and now, he is coming into his own...

C – 33 – TORU Akiak
Height: 185cm - Weight: 92kg – Age: 26 years old – Hand: R - Team: Republic Capitals

Having worked his way up the line in Republic City as he gained the Second Assistant Captain position following the injury of Olof Kolosji, Toru Akiak continues to better his game. However, with such developments small in contrast to those of the younger players, he has yet to shine any brighter; what he needs is a great defining moment, one in which he can show Skirata that he is meant to be a star player.

Being able to do everything well, but nothing great is something which is bothersome to many a coachers; for a player who was drafted three years and has been on two teams in a single year, the gift that Coach Antinanco gave him in the place of 2nd Asst. Captain was in the hopes of giving him a solid future as a Captain; after three seasons without a Captain, many on the Caps fan base want to see a new star rise from the ashes of Shu's departure.

RW– 17 – Jaster GILAMIJ
Height: 186cm - Weight: 88kg – Age: 24 years old – Hand: L - Team: Keldabe Strills

The newest player to join the National Team, Jaster Gilamij is the only "shiny" on this team. Coming from a renowned Mandalorian Youth Hockey Development Academy in Keldabe, Jaster played his collegiate hockey in Kibago under a student of Skiratas, Mos Shilosa. This resulted in Gilamij developing a very 'Mandalorian'-style of play; far more adept at sniping the puck from the blue line then at bringing it into the crease, Gilamij is still a little rough on the edges to take a lead position on the Bisons. Quick to draw, quick to shoot, Gilamij will one day be seen as a great player. For now, he is average in all categories, though with the injury of Ikeda Kuruk, he was bumped from RESERVE status to ACTIVE.

Of note to the Reserve List is the placement of former-first line starter Ikeda Kuruk, whose right ankle strain limited his World Cup 18 showings, and how, with a strained left wrist, he is once again out of the starting line-up. Unfortunate as it may seem, perhaps it is best for the future of the Ice Bisons. With so many of our top players entering their 30's, there is only so many more years before we need to start replacing them. The Great Wall of Shu, already at the 40-year-mark, is running speculations that he will retire after the next World Cup. In the event of such retirement, already Zhao Hotaka is set to take the lead goalie position, and there are many youths set to come in and try to fill his immeasureable pads.

New team, first time in the HWC, and we are only down with -4 GD. Admitted, we lost all four by a difference of one goal all the time, but..." and he sighed. Things were not easy for a head coach of a team playing a popular sport in a country that has been spoiled with good sports results. In the rest of the year, the football team, though they had a bad qualification, got into the knock-out rounds of the CoH, the rugby team had a good debut and advanced to the knock-outs too. Club teams of all sports have been doing better than last year, and then there was the national ice hockey team. The league exists for five years now, it has a good fanbase and the first time a national team gets together, the team loses the first four.

"They wrote 'Will Halbasund get another chance?'. What does that mean... Ah, got it. One match to go to half-way, and they call for your head if we manage to lose all five... Of which three were home, even." "Just say I have a secret weapon for Plutoni in the next press conference for me. It's not that far off from the truth..."

"C'mon, JP!" shouted Jean-Luc Desjardins from the bench. Dandenault and Julio Archambault had been operating the 6 on 5, with Etienne Goubert pulled. Sicoutimont was down 3-2. Suddenly, Archambault took a slap-pass from Dandenault, and snapped off a wrist shot. Goal! The shot beat the Darmeni goaltender! 3-3 now with 41.9 seconds left in the action. Jean-Luc, Maurice Rolloton and Alexandre St-Laurier were sent on. Rolloton won the faceoff back to Loic Lenouvre (37.2 left) and he skated up the left wing. (32.1 seconds left) Then he was hit by the Darmeni defender. The puck knocked loose to the Darmeni defender. He proceeded to trip over the blueline, and the puck went straight to St-Laurier. (15.3 seconds left) At centre ice, he skated across the blueline into the high slot, then fired a slapshot. The puck hit the crossbar! And then, it hit the Darmeni goaltender in the back of the head, and rolled across the line! Goal for Sicoutimont with 7.8 seconds remaining against one of the top teams in the world! The game ended after 7 seconds which seemed like 7 minutes to the team, and they ran back into the dressing room to celebrate. Team Sicoutimont were now at the top of the group 4 games in, with 5 points, tied with Darmen. The team will now take on Mapletish back home, this time in Lac-Drouin

"Now get in the cell!" roared the prison guard at St-Simeon Municipal Holding Cells, 32km away from the arena, and 686km to Team Sicoutimont in Darmen. Seamus Sinclair, still in suit and tie, stepped inside. In front of him were true criminals, the people who want to be forgotten, the wackos, Seamus Sinclair thought. He didn't deserve to be here. He had secured a passport 6 years-6 YEARS!? he thought. 5 years is the length of a Sicoutian Passport's validity..... now he knew why he was in here. He hadn't known they'd jail him for it, however. Ah, well. Team Sicoutimont had beaten Darmen, and were now going to visit him in 2 days, probably to pay his bail. All he needed to do was survive 2 days with murderers, robbers, and others. All he said to them was, "This suit is polyester."

Thanks, Kaitlyn
by: Meghan Potter, Concord Heights Times

Last night, one goal was enough. It won't always be. It rarely is. But last night, the pink and black survived.

The lady between the pipes, was phenomenal. Obviously, I refer to Kaitlyn Oakley, who you will remember was also the savior of this team in World Cup of Hockey 18. There is a collective school of thought in Cassadaigua that this entire roster needs to be overhauled, as Cassadaigua has become good enough to make the playoffs consistently, but hasn't made enough noise in them. In the last Cup, after a shaky start, Kaitlyn Oakley was inserted into the starting role and the team never looked back. Now, Stacey Dupree isn't even on the roster. Coach Courtney Rangen offered Dupree, who is still 34 in Cassadaigua and playing domestically, the backup job. Dupree declined, telling this newspaper that, "I am committed to Winchester (her domestic team), and I don't want to risk an injury by playing in a competition where the team isn't committed to me." For those reading between the lines of Stacey's statement, it is very clear what she meant: If I can't start, I don't wanna play at all. While she was composed during the interview, many would have imagined her pouting and sulking like a little three year old who's mom won't let her have the shiny new toy at the store.

Kaitlyn Oakley has done most of what has been asked of her. She has not been perfect over the long term, even though she was last night in stopping 36 Maklohi Vai shots on goal. Kaitlyn just quietly goes about her business and never complains about the lack of goal support she is given. "They are my teammates and I will never criticize them as I know they are trying. How could I ever do that? There will be times when I will let in a bad goal, and they'll pat me on the back and tell me to shake it off. That's a valuable kind of support. I know that we should be doing better right now in this group, but there is time. Like a championship team of rowers would know, it's not how you start, but you all have to be working together as a team from start to finish, to get the ideal result, and if one person is off, it throws off everyone."

Kaitlyn is obviously being diplomatic, because the rest of the team didn't play that great. It was a shutout because of her play. Samantha Preston and Michael Macchio let the opponent get too many quality shots on net, and while the Dagans themselves got 34 shots on goal, it seemed as though many were shot directly to the opposing goaltender. It was nice to see Natalie Conroy poke home that rebound by crashing the net in the second period, but more of that was needed.

And more will be needed going forward.

"Karkan, now what?" Lelu Ras asked, looking at a newspaper on the table. "What what?" was his response. He hadn't seen the newspaper yet. "Well,

these journalists are pretty angry with our results..." Lelu continued, but was interrupted by his head coach Karkan Halbasund. "They shouldn't whine that much.

The Daily Sheep
A narrow loss and A close draw

Ice hockey came back to Birolika when Andossa Se Mirtin Vega paid a visit to the Nemock centre where their own fans almost outnumbering the Birolik support. The result wasn't the best for Birolika, it was possibly their best chance of getting a victory bar the Falconfar matches. However Andossa Se Mirtin Vega have already proved they mean business in the cup with three victories putting them in second place. The game started a few minutes late as Luke Martins was having some trouble with his laces.

The first period was where most of the action was, Korin Steelhammer opened the game up just three minutes into the first period with a powerful shot that left Karl Levering dazed and confused, and also with the possibility of a clean sheet wiped away from him. The rest of the period was dominated by the Ice dragons who managed to keep play almost exclusively around the Birolik goal. However Birolika held out the rest of the period and only went into the second one goal down.

The final two periods can be summed up in two words; rather dull. These two words probably sum up the entire Birolik team, with the exception of Artem Rilley who can be fun to watch. Play was dull for both and Birolika did a good job of holding out for the rest of the game for an equaliser that never came. Eventually most of the Birolik fans got catastrophically drunk to numb the pain and became incredibly sullen and silent as Biroliks always do when drunk. However some avoided this by crying into their beer.

Birolika then made the trip to Audioslavia in an attempt to come away with some points. Audioslavia are the lowest ranked team in the group besides the unranked sides and it was vital to not come home empty handed. 2,000 fans made the trip and they weren't to be disappointed with a decent come back performance being made by the Birolik side and they came away with one point. Coach Balker said that it was a decent enough game to try and achieve there goal of 3rd place.

The first period was, as ever, where everything went wrong. It started off with Audioslavia dominating possession which inevitably led to a goal in the 12th minute. After the goal Birolika started to wake up a little bit, Bob Yam even managed a half decent chance but it all came to nothing. Coach Balker has said that they do need to get their act together at the start of the game, which might be the first time a Birolik has decided to do something about anything, which was surprisingly well received in the dressing room.

In the second period Birolika managed to pick their game up a bit and control over the game went the other way. Artem Rilley was particularly on form as he made several opportunities as well as taking a few himself. However the crucial goal never came in the second period despite several line changes and Balker's gentle encouragement (in Birolika gentle encouragement is a whispered 'gwan, gwan you will'.)

The third period saw Birolika take the goal they needed, it came from Rilley with a set-up coming from Ian Chalk. The goal came in the 14th minute of the third period. Ian Chalk made the first genuine set-up in Birolik history where he slid it straight in front of the goal where Rilley slotted it in. Rilley was happy to get his first goal he said it was "great to finally get it done with, now I can play my games as I want to and not worry about my first international goal."

Current goal tally:

Mark Pelav: 2
Artem Rilley: 1
John Jacker: 1
Bob Yam: 1
Nate Crash: 1

THE FLIGHT PATTERN- Byfugland's Official Source for Jets Sports

Byfugland was able to keep up their stellar offensive play against a tough Thatius squad, coming away with a 4-1 victory. The game fraught with tremendous saves from Jets netminder Ryan Underhill, as he allowed just his fourth goal of the tournament.

The first period was off to a very slow start for both teams, as neither side skated particularly well and the puck was constantly shifting sides. Scoring chances were hard to come by in the first ten minutes. With a little more than five minutes remaining in the first period, the Jets caught the Icehawks in mid transition, allowing Daniel Shelby to put one past goalie Martin Koranovic on the odd man rush, putting Byfugland ahead 1-0.

The second period was a cleaner one for the Icehawks, as the defense was tighter and they outshot the Jets 12-4. After Ryan Linderhagen took a two minute penalty for hitting from behind, Thatius capitalized, as Jack Petrovic slipped one by Underhill for a powerplay goal, the only goal he would allow on the night.

Later in the period, with the Jets set up in the opposing zone, the fourth line was able to generate a scoring chance. With their crash-the-net style of play, a scrum in front of the net led to a rebound off a shot from the point to be jostled loose, and Colton Reed banged it home from the crease. Though Reed got credit for the goal, the physical presence of Cliff Soricelli and Albert Turziano down low opened the door for the scoring chance. When the second period horn sounded, the Jets led 2-1.

The flood gates opened for Thatius in the third period. The Icehawks abandoned their gameplay for a full-fledged attack mode in the final period, and though early in the period, Underhill had to stop several great scoring chances, chances taken by the defenders proved costly for Thatius. When the Icehawks had situated themselves in the Jets' zone six minutes into the period, the puck was knocked away into the neutral zone, and the Jets speed line took off. Rodrigo Gregorio and Garrett O'Sears broke loose on a 2-on-0 breakaway, burning Koranovic with their back and forth passing, and Gregorio finally putting it home.

With time winding down, just over seven minutes left in the period, the Jets went on the powerplay, and after forty seconds of setting up and cycling, Casey Bryant finally slapped home a goal from "the hammer" position, just below the near faceoff circle along the red-line. With that, the Jets capped off a 4-1 victory.

Byfugland's offense has helped propel them to a stellar start this tournament, scoring 11 goals in the first 4 games. It's the play of goalie Ryan Underhill, however, that has helped the Jets gain momentum going forward. Underhill has only allowed four goals, 3 of which came in the draw against Thrilledge. Against Thatius, Underhill stopped 45 of 46 shots, several coming on desperation saves.

Scoring:
1st Period
BYF: Daniel Shelby, from Erik Commodore and Forest Mackins

2nd Period
THT: Jack Petrovic, from Frederic Nielson
BYF: Colton Reed (unassisted)

3rd Period
BYF: Rodrigo Gregorio, from Garrett O'Sears
BYF: Casey Bryant, from Vyacheslav Dostoyevki and Erik Commodore

Goalies
BYF: Ryan Underhill- 45/46 saves
THT: Martin Koranovic- 32/36 saves

Port Hawthorne on three game winning streak
TIMOTHY GURGANU

Port Hawthorne (3-0-1) has recorded a 4-1 win over Northern Sunrise Islands (2-2-0). The Port Hawthorne national men's ice hockey team has done relatively well. The Port Hawthorne Herald predicts that they'll make it to the knock out stage with seven more games.

The Northern Sunrise Islands squad would start off the scoring with their only goal of the game. Tyson Sharp would put it in on a backhand one timer on a rebound from below the blue line. Scott Templer picked up a marker on the Sharp goal.

The lone Northern Sunrise Island goal would place their team through the scoreless second period. Within the first two minutes of the third period Port Hawthorne's Liam Hewitt placed one through Islander Louis Oulette's stick side. Linemates Franc Balažic and Henry Abbot would earn the assists.

Port Hawthorne's first lineman Michael Warner would score their second goal. Aidan Perkins would earn the goal's sole assist.

The third offensive line would score the last two goals of the game. Centre Sam Mackenzie would get Port Hawthorne's third goal unassisted. Winger Bryan Thornton would score the last game of the goal with a slap shot going high on the right of the net.

Port Hawthorne leads their group with 6 points. They face off against fourth placed team in their group Licentiapacisterra next.

Sioux and Mortiise were packing their stuff as they were the last players to leave the stadium after the defeat against Port Hawthorne.
"You know, I'm surprised that the coach didn't kill us." said Sioux, looking at his team-mates.
"He didn't kill us for losing against Maklohi Vai, why would he kill us for losing against a ranked team?" asked Mortiise, packing his things.
"I dunno. Coach has been acting well... slightly off the tone." answered the younger left-winger.
"Just because he didn't kill us? Pfff... Look, if that bothers you, prepare yourself to the match against Cassadaigua."
"You mean... the guys who forfeited the World Bowl one time?"
"Nope, the women who did that."
"Wait... Were they women?", asked Sioux finishing to pack his clothes.
"Hmmm... Yes... And from what I know, they weren't that nice about this tournament either. Anyways, considering how they act, I suppose you better get ready to be called a coward, because they'll want a fight. And I'm talking of the activity of punching them."
"Meh... This is going to be like Davestone versus Air-Madjorie all over again..."

WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY XIX
NSI loses another, 4-1 to Port Hawthorne.
The Stars lost their second match in the qualifiers as they couldn't stop the Ice Wolves of Port Hawthorne and ended scoring a sole goal against four from their opponents. Coach McConnery answered that "Now, we should focus on their next match against Cassadaigua." and left fastly from the stadium. This could be the indication of a cut in the solidness of the Stars as they go on to face the favourite of this group, Cassadaigua (7th in WR).

Not again

ESTOPE- Another loss for Soviet Canuckistan today as they lost 1-0 to the Estopian squad yesterday. The game started off slow with both teams getting into the stride of the game. However, the Estopians opened up the scoring first in the second period with a slapshot from the point by defenceman August Nuzum just sliding in under Prefontaine's glove. The Canuckistanis couldn't recover and lost the game 1-0.

We interviewed coach George Kino after the game and he said "Not a good game for us, not at all. The boys didn't find their flow out there and it cost them the game. They're tired from the travel and a tournament like this is very demanding for these players, 10-12 hour flights every day followed by tiring games don't allow for them to play their best. Hopefully, they can recover and play well at home for the next three games." The Canuckistanis play at home for their next three games, the next against Havl, who are second in the group behind undefeated Valanora.

Alpha: I might regret making that bet with you now.

Omega: 3-0 win over Western Cuba, one of 3 perfect teams and tied for the best GD, yeah looks like I might win.

Alpha: It seems that way. But wasn't it a few years ago when we went 10-0-0 in the group stage and were beaten in the 1st round?

Omega: Yeah. But hopefully, for my ideas, that won't happen.

Rho: Hey, you two, the President wants both of you in his office now.

<a few minutes later>

QHA President: What's this I've heard about a bet between the two of you?

Omega: Well, sir. We're both incharge of recruiting for the national team; and we both have very different ideas about our recruitment efforts following this WcoH.

Alpha: I want us to develop genetically-enhanced players, which is legal under current Qazoxian and WCoh guidelines; while Omega here wants to try something different.

QHA President: What exactly are you looking to do Omega?

Omega: I'd rather not say exactly, but it involves cloning.

Alpha: Cloning? That never works.

Omega: Depends on what you decide to clone.

QHA President: Ok. I'll allow you two your bet, just as long as neither of your recruitment efforts afterwards exceeds your current alotted budget.

Suddenly, we're not looking too flash...Michael VII Hockey Blog.

After an 8-0 thrashing over Dallas Stars, you'd assume we'd still be sitting pretty at the top of the group, and looking good on the path to qualifying. But nay, that was not to be the case. Two matches away from home, and we die. We first fell, embarrassingly, to Equestrian States, 3-1, in a terrible fashion, where scoring seemed to be hard done by, and defense non-existent. Gyatso-kai, slightly better, to the point where I didn't want to cry, as we held close to one of the best in the world, at the Ice Bison's own arena, losing only 1-0, late in the game too.

4 down, 6 to go. And 60 beers to down after all the hard losses we're gonna have. Ah well, maybe Ashton Marks will lose some more teeth in fights. That's always fun. Sometimes.

OOC: I realise that some tiebreakers may be out of order right now, but I'll fix them in the next round robin, right now it shouldn't matter much.

OOC- Damn. Missed the cutoff... and I Hate you Qaz. JK

The Bearded Ice Dragons, as they have become lovingly known throughout the Dwarven States of the Draggonnii Socialist Empire, have been making quite some waves since their loss in the first game of the qualifiers against Western Cuba. Ok. Maybe not a ton of noise, but three wins in a row has to count for something.

A 1-0 upset over #35 Audislavia at home, then a 1-0 win at unranked Birolika, and a 1-0 win over unranked Falconfar at home. Not exactly what I would call opening up a can of whoop ass, but 3-0-1 is really nice for a nation who doesn’t even understand the rules of this game in general. Thank the Mitrin Vega the Dwarves have it down though.

And now we must travel to face the mighty Qazox. The Qazox that is currently ranked 6th in the world. The Qazox that has been demolishing their competition thus far at a 3.5 goal per game clip. The Qazox that we would love to make a name for ourselves by stealing points off the table from.

They may be taller, heavier, faster, more skilled, and who knows what else, but they don’t have the nicely braided beards, kickass last names, and overall civility of our Bearded Ice Dragon Dwarves.

Omega: Damn. just 75 seconds away from a 3rd straight shut out.

Alpha: Well, at least ASMV showed up tonight, our last couple of opponents seemed to just not be there.

Omega: I know what you mean. At least the tough part is over, at least for the Group stage.

Alpha: 5 for 5 and winning by 3 goals a game? I shouldn't have made that bet with you.

Omega: If you want to drop it now, i'd still be willing to do so. But once the 6th game starts, no chance I'll let you weasel your way out of it.

Alpha: I'll seriously think about it.

By Mapletish's most annoying person , the sour kind !

The Sour Kind [TSK] - Today I'm gona tell you about the Minnows journey in the World Cup Of Hockey! And here with me today is Bo-De a self-study hockey pundit, maybe not ! Hahaha !

Bo-De [BD] - Thanks for inviting me today, wow you have a pretty well decorated erm how should I say it, I meant a studio !

TSK - Well thank-you. Our audience today would like to know how goes Group Five. Any comments or anything?

BD - Err,the Minnows have done pretty well in the tournament currently and I'm just proud to say that all 4 Rushmori nations are dominating the top four positions of Group 5. A wonderful achievement for Rushmore indeed. It was obvious at the start of the tournament that Darmen will dominate the group, and they certainly did not disappoint the betting companies, Darmen are 1.42 to dominate Group 5. Whereas Mapletish are 1.68 to dominate Group 5. Darmen are 0.5 to score 20 or more goals whereas Mapletish are priced at 0.45 to score 20 or more goals for the group stage. Some interesting betting options for fans too, with odds of the qualification of a non-Rushmori nation in Group 5 at 3.01. I think that the first half of the qualification is certainly a great platform for fans to see how the team really works under a new system and a brand new team altogether.

TSK - Do you see the chances of Mapletish qualifying for the next round?

BD - Personally I think, the answer is yes. The squad has been showing great change and real potential to be taken note of.

TSK - Well I see,do you think Mapletish will have a successful 2nd leg of the group stages?

BD - Certainly, I think they are more or less ready to show us a thing or two.

TSK - Oh thank you for coming here today.

BD - Thank you for inviting me here today.

TSK - Stay tuned to a next installment maybe? Stand a chance to win attractive prizes from the trivia question that will be asked after the break.
