The Republic's 1st Southern Fleet began patrolling the Waters of Magellan after the arrival of 24 new ships, including two Wisconsin class frigates from renown Wolf and Sparrow Shipwrights Limited headquartered in The Lower Realm.

Just 2 days after setting sail from Port Edison on their way to their permanent home at the Southern Naval Command Station in Port of North Magellan, ASMI, the fleet received and responded to a distress call from the RTG flagged cruise-liner Hvea-va-Hram, 175 km off the coast of Equatorial RTG.

Three hours after receiving the distress call, the fleet came upon a chaotic scene of dozens of small pirate gun-boats swarming around a fleeing Hvea-va-Hram, her deck officiers attempting to hold back the Wildings with small-arms fire.

Capt. Jona d'Arka, commanding officier of the 1st Southern Fleet, "We were fearful we might be too late to prevent the Wildings from boarding the Hvea-va-Hram, but to our great fortune, her officiers had heroically held them back, defended her until we could arrive. I immediately ordered the fleet into action."

The SSRA Tsunami, under the command of Cmdr. Jeihmsz Kuhk, steamed ahead of the fleet and fired three shots above the pirate boats. "Their boats instantly scattered," Cmdr. Kuhk said in an interview, "like roaches caught in a spot light. It was a glorious spectacle!"

Full Picture

History and Overview
The Vlast is part of an 'arm's race' competition. The international navies quickly move to new technologies, and in the field of submarines this is especially true. To combat the threat of ballistic submarines, Wolf and Sparrow, at the behest of The United Kingdom of the Lower Realm, produced one of their own.

Propulsion
The Vlast uses nuclear propulsion, allowing it to be limited only by food supplies. The propulsion system, while quite technical, will attempt to be explained in detail. The primary power is one 'S8R PWR' nuclear reactor. S8L, broken down is: S = Submarine, 8 = eighth generation core designed by producer, R = Realm, the producer. PWR, broken down is: Pressurized Water Reactor. This reactor system is equipped with several safety features. In the event of a coolant leak or otherwise electrical malfunction, the chamber is designed to be flushed with borated water, thus preventing a catastrophe. There are two geared turbines, each capable of producing 35,000 SHP (shaft horse-power), equating to 70,000 SHP. Also included is a 50 MW diesel auxiliary. This gives the Vlast a top speed of just under 30mph (48 kph) and a surfaced speed of 15mph (24 kph).

Armament
The Vlast is equipped with x4 21in Mk. 48 torpedo tubes, as well as x2 15in torpedo tubes. This may seem like a sparsely populated list, but in actuality, this load-out is designed to rain a hail of damage upon your enemies.

Stealth
The goal for all ballistic submarines is to fire ballistic missiles without being seen. To achieve this, the Vlast is equipped with anechoic tiles, reducing the effective range of both active and passive sonars. All moving parts are also seated on vibration-dampening mounts.
Armor
The Vlast is equipped with triple pressure hull and reinforced ribs to prevent breaches from underwater detonation.

Electronics

The Vlast has been equipped with several features. Among these are: the Photonics mast that has effectively eliminated the need for a mechanical periscope, instead giving a 'digital camera' authority to take colour, high-resolution black and white, and infrared images that appear on a control panel, the TILT Navigation Suite, an aptly named navigational system that uses gyroscopes to keep the ship's sensors stable, even when the ship is not, passive (used mostly) and active (sparingly, if ever used) Lion's Net sonar, and inertial guiding systems using gyroscopes to keep track of the submarine's movements and location are the most notable.
