[Dropped] Comic Code Authority Act

Postby Ambibia » Mon Jul 30, 2012 4:58 pm

The follwing is my draft which i had an idea for, tell me what you think:
Category:Moral Decency
Strength:Significant

The World Assembly,

Appreciating the formal rights humans have to create items of entertainment and withhold moral enjoyment of things such as comics and/or comic books.

Acquainted with the world’s acts of substandard icons in everyday life; such as drugs, violence, sexuality, and cursing/swearing.

Theorizing that if children and adolescents continue to read inferior ways of life teachings, that the world’s youth may become more hostile, more unaccepting, and more spiteful.

Also Theorizing that if these sub-standards cease to continue, youth rebellion will decrease and equal more peace.

Therefore, the World assembly enacts these following international laws into effect:

  • If any member nation has any form of comic book industries or companies, the business must subject to a World Assembly approved rating system that approves or dismisses comics based on interior politeness.
  • Member nation may have the choice to forgo and refuse the WA rating system, but must do so with good intentions for its people.
  • ratings will follow three steps of intensity: E for everyone, I for Intermediate, and V for Violence.
  • If a company that produces comics disagrees with the WA rating system it must seek attention from its government for special reform to allow room for creative freedom.

Wishing the effects of this resolution will bring order and reform to the international comic book industry.

Hereby Founds the World Assembly Comic Code Authority (WACCA), in order to police sub-standard forms of entertainment amongst comics.

1) Category and Strength?
2) Why is this an international issue?

Category & Strength?

And why on Earth do you think that something that in no longer in use in RL would be a good idea to implement here?

So regulate it in your own country. Why make the rest of us suffer?

Also, you never answered our initial question: Category and Strength?

If you have a problem with "rapp" music, maybe you be going after "rapp" music and not comics? And even then, why is it something that the WA needs to be involved in?

Ambassador, I can't really tell the future, but I can tell you that this is NOT an international issue.

Yes, drafting and debating proposals are what we're here for. But the fact remains that no matter how much you try to polish this turd, it'll still be a turd. You need to face facts, even that "online game Real Life" has given up on this idea, and if that's not proof that this is a bid idea, I don't know what is.

The Realm of God Diplomatic Mission to the World Assembly (ROGDMWA) would like you to clearify the purpose of this Act. It seems to be a pointless moralistic waste of time and resources.

Obviously ROGDMWA is going to stand AGAINST this Act.

also categories are found at the top of the post under the description.

The Diplomatic Mission understands the catagory system.

The Diplomatic Mission would also like to reiterate it's point, in saying that this Act is pointless and that Comic Book rating system is not an international issue and makes a mockary of the World Assembly system.

"Category:Moral Decency ... amongst comics."

I'd take out everything between the colon in "Category" and the period after "comics". That'll give you a good base for necessary improvements.

Among other things, I believe this is illegal for being entirely optional. The only operative clause that isn't optional only founds a committee, which essentially does nothing. I understand you are new to this, so, as much as I'd like to, I won't tell you to scrap this idea entirely, just point out the obvious illegalities.

Also, why in the world would we establish a rating system for international use? This is hardly an international issue.

Edited for spelling.

A) If you call me a comrade, I will not be a happy camper, as I am not your comrade.
B) Your category is idiotic... definitely shoe-horned, IMO.
C) Why is this an international issue at all?

We have a few complaints about this, most of which have been mentioned already by some of our colleagues, but we shall add our voice to this as well because we can.

1.) NOT an International Issue. It is barely a National Issue.
2.) Shoehorned category = not a good thing. Pick a category and write to it, don't write first then try and figure out which category may possibly somehow maybe fit.
3.) Strength violation. A proposal that essentially does nothing is not "significant".
4.) One-size-fits-all rarely fits anybody
5.) A "solution" in search of a problem. Normally, you find a problem, then come up with a potential solution. Coming up with a "solution" first, then looking for a problem to fit? Again, Not a Good thing.

All in all, we must agree with the assessment of our colleague, Bob Flibble, in that no matter how much you polish this turd, the fact remains it will still be a turd.
Everything you know about me is wrong. Or a rumor. Something like that.

My country will at no point endorse such blatant censorship. The choice lies in the parents' decision to buy the comic books for their children. If the parents deem the content acceptable for their child, then so be it.

Oh, and we agree with every comment so far on the proposal except those made by Ambibia and Virulent Racism. We would not vote for any proposal on this line.

(Edit: Apologies for being a little heavy-handed, but we think nations can manage this for themselves.)

Kingborough agrees with most of the comments made so far, this is not an international issue.

Member nation may have the choice to forgo and refuse the WA rating system, but must do so with good intentions for its people.

I believe the optional wording of this in this clause also makes it illegal.
