I'm going to name the arena where Sarzonia plays its home games The Henry West Center (it's still the same building as The Palestra, but it's named in memory of the first Sarzonian hoops manager).

If anyone wants to include the name of the arena in Woodstock, that's going to be the new name.

Proposing an amendment to the IBO membership eligibility that should be effective before IBC34 starts.
Specific changes include changing Section 1 and adding several clauses in italics.

Article I: IBO Eligibility

Section 1: To be admitted as a member of the IBO, a nation should meet the following criteria:
Clause a. The nation must have posted a roster and at least 1 RP in each of the previous 2 IBCs, and
Clause b. The nation must be subjected to a vote by the incumbent IBO members to be admitted to the organization, and should not get more than 1/3 of the votes against admitting the said nation to the organization.

Noted. So that we don't have to run multiple votes, I'm going to exercise my rights as I interpret them under Article III Section 4 to say: Please submit any further constitutional amendments within the next 3 days (30 November 1300 UTC). Then, all amendments will be voted on. In this way we will avoid having to run multiple consecutive votes, which can be tedious.

I'm against adding a voting requirement for Council membership.

In theory I can understand it if we have concerns about the maturity of a player or players who might join the Council, but it often turns into a popularity contest rather than an avenue to weed out people who genuinely don't belong in decision-making.

For one thing, the WBC is pretty unique in having a mechanism to require voting. Posting a roster and a RP gets you membership in the WCC, the IBC, the World Bowl, the WCoH Federation, and the WLC. So far, we've followed the precedent set by the councils in every large sport besides baseball. What's the exigence behind bucking that precedent and going to a voting requirement?

With no further amendments being proposed, we will now vote. I'd like to request any future constitutional amendments wait until the next cycle.

The question is: Accept or Reject the amendment by Hispinas here?

Members of the IBO (listed here) may vote. Please send votes to this account by telegram by 5 December 1300 UTC.

Agreed. I’m firmly opposed to this proposal.

Voting results:

Accept the amendment - 1
Reject the amendment - 7

Therefore the amendment is not adopted.

In terms of the next IBC, I am considering opening signups in the New Year.

It's my intention to open signups for the next IBC soon. According to the IBO constitution when I do so, I must set a deadline for signups, so I'm mentioning this intention as an advanced warning.

I realize the football World Cup is going on and tends to suck all the oxygen out of the room, but I don't feel every single tournament on NS needs work around it. Additionally, I would like the next IBC to happen before the next NSCAA tournament, which is scheduled to run through March.

Of course I'm not Banija, and what I'm clarifying isn't involving other two who have withdrawn from the competition.

That said, as someone who's done some advisory work with him regarding Banijan MNT and WNT for past IBC RPs and also for other purposes (basketball competition in CommonwealthBasket and Quebecois Commonwealth Games, etc), I'd like to reply to this:

Venmere wrote:Evidently the choice of Chromatika and South Newlandia has generated quite a bit of controversy in this community

StrayaRoos wrote:It seems so
As we’ve lost Banja,Sarzonia and Trollborg so far

I would like to clarify that Banija the user's decision to replace Banija, the reigning 4-time world champions, with Nyowani Kitara, a remarkably-RP'd puppet with plenty of worldbuilding and a major arc done on it, has been planned for some time, as early as immediate days after IBC 33 Finals.

It has nothing to do with the winning party of this IBC host bidding process, or either bid. This also doesn't indicate that Banija is permanently retiring from IBC. Very opposite of it. C'est tout.

I've addressed my main reasons for withdrawing in the signup thread.

As I mentioned there, there are also RL considerations that weigh into my decision. I'm hoping that I'll be a bit more inspired for IBC 35. And maybe by then I'll have a new coach!

With the resignation of Matthew Hong from the Quebecois men's basketball NT, Basketball Quebec is looking for a new coach (position: Head Coach, Senior Men's National Team) to potentially propel them beyond the pit of mediocrity:

The successful candidate should have experience relevant to a top-20 side. It is preferred that they come with head coach experience on IUBC and/or national team experience, but it is not and will not be a deal-breaker for candidates considered of great fit by the BQ. Their focus will be able to maintain a national team traditionally known for their run-and-gun offence, and also with historic challenges in teamplay and controlling ego long considered problematic among national team players. The successful candidate is preferably devoid of private life issues.

Please TG or PM me with information regarding the candidate.

Thank you for electing me as IBO President. I believe we have had three good tournaments and that the IBC is going strong. It's important we remain a tournament open to newcomers and not too dominated by rank, but overall I think the IBC is now one of the healthiest competitions in NSS, all credit for which is due to our hosts and roleplayers.

Constitutionally, I was elected before IBC32, so my time is up. Therefore, nominations for President are now open.

  • Only members of the IBO may nominate candidates.
