The Valentians – Actual Race @ Shellshock Batteries 400, Marquette Raceway, Hampton Island

Energised and ready, the Valentians proudly made their way to their vehicles, all nicely tuned up and ready to go. Clarissa’s car would see some dents and scratches on it from the most recent accident, but other than the cosmetic damage, it is more or less serviceable, as the qualifications have proven.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Thanks for not resting on my arm too much yesterday night, Gwen! I mean, hey, at least you are learning to control!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Hehe, I tried my best! Well, all the best, you guys! And hey, don’t let the qualifications distract you too much. The actual race itself will determine it.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Thanks, Gwen!

Jared Kev Jensen Benedict Angus: Good luck, you guys!

They might not show it and said it out openly, but as of the moment, they know that they can only rely on Jolyn for the time being for the winning of the race. Sure, the Valentians don’t exactly are looking forward to winning for most of the time, and they simply loved the joy of racing, but after all the Chase cutoffs, they, especially Jolyn, are aware that she is their last hope of winning this race. Gwen got knocked out early, and Clarissa’s recent DNFs and other average-at-best races made her being unable to get into the further parts of the Chase.

“And they are away!” the announcers blared yet again as the cars were taxied along the starting line, and with that, Gwen, being in her Pole Position, zoomed off along the track with the others following her behind. The qualifications have given her a head start, and now it’s important that she followed suit and win this race, or at least perform better than the short track.

The Valentians – Highlights of the Race @ Shellshock Batteries 400, Marquette Raceway, Hampton Island

Clarissa started off at the 12th position from her qualifications and maintained that for a very long time, up until the second segment, whereby she suffered a small loss in average speeds and breaking harder than usual. She pointed this out to her vehicle’s tire not performing too well, though Jared thinks that this might also be due to the crash and as a result, the vehicle was not exactly in its best state to be handled very roughly. The repairs should have made it optimal, sure, but it was still “hurting”, so to speak. Clarissa’s best performance comes at the 3rd segment, netting her a 6th at one point of the race, but eventually, combined with her car, and with her calculations and being optimized for the speedway, she finished off at 10th.

Exuberant Superintendent T-1000/2904 Surveillant Clarissa Alanis Star Breya « La Amoureux Chéri » Millie Taissa Butterfly Mélody Coraline Jolijn Trini Clementine Hollie Samantha Zeta Harumi: I could have done better, but… to be honest, this is something that I have not been getting for a long time, and I am indeed happy that I am getting this now! I have been finishing off at either the middle places, or gotten myself DNFed, so it was good to have this change where I placed in the Top 10 at the end of the race! As for the vehicle? It indeed seems true that it was slightly “hurt”, because reading off all its sensors, the parts are not working at their best conditions and states! Something, along with Jared, tells me that the vehicle might need another check even after the repairs. We can never be too careful!

-----

Despite her arduous carefulness, this race has proven itself to be less-than-optimal for Jolyn for the first few parts. The qualifications, at first, made it seem difficult for Jolyn, but she managed to shrug it off, being able to place 6th, then 7th, for the 1st and 2nd segment (at the last lap of each segments) respectively. However, after her pit stop, she fell back to 18th, then to 20th, and she kept falling down until at the 5th segment whereby she was able to learn and adapt on the fly and changed her strategy. This all-in-all netted her a 14th for this race.

Vice Foresittend Jolyn Maxine Caulfield Moira “Неуловимый, Женщина-шпион” Marlene Wendy Lucille Lapis Jill Khorosheva Vin. Zolina łnt. Natasha Vasilisa Helen Ceeta Tescelyn Maximovna: So, lesson #1 of anything that happens in this world: If you think that the race is too easy, and maybe too unnaturally easy, then the others will most likely think that way too! It’s not me that is being very good and careful here; it’s that the others have much more experience than me with these kinds of courses and as a result, they did better than me. If you think it’s easy and something isn’t right, well… it isn’t. Still, the track is pretty huge, so I was able to remedy most of the problems I have with being in the middle, and that’s how I climbed up, only to went back down because of the pit stop. It’s hard to gain back the momentum on a speedway, all things considered. I guess I will take the 14th place any day! All-in-all… not bad.

-----

As for Gwen Tracer Allison? Her Pole Position helped her out for the first few segments, but as time went on, and with the pit stops, she realised that while placing 1st in the qualifications (twice) can be a good thing to have, it would not help with things in the long run. And to further worsen things, on the 4th segment, she didn’t brake enough and that resulted in her scratching the outer walls at the last turn, costing her a considerable amount of time – time that she simply couldn’t lose; the other drivers quickly took advantage of the situation, dropping her down to 35th. However, as the race went on, she managed to climb back on at an 18th, making the three Valentians 4 positions away from one another – 10th, 14th, and 18th.

Chief Aviator Gwen Tracer Hepburn “Fate of Existence and the Omniverse” Ellen Trixie Caitlin Foxworthy Avril Verlene Eveline Celinda Sammy Doris Wit. Oxton Arielle Lindall Leslie Vitesse Allison: I was told that I got a little too cocky, and I guess they are right, haha! That last turn was difficult to deal with if you are speeding too fast, like me. Otherwise, it is not too bad and followable! I was fine for the rest of the race, save that 4th Segment that got me into a very big trouble. So… I place 18th, which was not bad, but seriously, a victory at this point will be nice for me. I got Pole Position twice, and still nothing? I know it’s all about the race, and winning is secondary, but… Clarissa and Jolyn already won once, and I have none, so this is getting a little awkward, if you ask me personally.

The Valentians – After Race @ Shellshock Batteries 400, Marquette Raceway, Hampton Island

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: So, Clarissa, how are you doing?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: I’m doing great, thanks for asking! After that blunder, and today’s performance, I think I am ready to take on things once again!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Hehe, that’s the spirit! You can do it, Clarissa! So… what did Walters say to you?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Err, the usual, I guess. Not a lot of development from that, haha! But… maybe let’s just say that he was all right with the gifts?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Ah, well… So, have you heard about the next race?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Oooh yeah! We are going to Sherpa Empire once again, I heard! But a different place.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Li River Speedway! …. Road course.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Tsk, again? Wait… speedway? Road course? What the heck?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yeah, and this time, we are going to a completely different territory!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I hope there won’t be troublemakers this time, heh heh. All that action was exciting, but seriously? I came here to relax, not to see a war going on.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yeah, those fooking guys, eh?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I love it when you say “fooking”. That’s so stereotypically… English.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Hah, thanks!

As the conversation went on, Gwen and Clarissa were talking to each other, while Jolyn went to her computer, talking to Jenny, Marcus, and Valentijn (who was on through video conference).

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Hey, check this out. We got back a reply from Lhotse Love!

Marcus Alan Ariel Baptiste Reynolds: Nice, so what did they say?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Ahh shoot, it’s in Chinese. Let me translate it for you guys.

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: Ahh, can’t wait to hear it. This is all too exciting!

Thanks for your inquiry, Jolyn. Lhotse Love restaurants operate on two different models:

First, there is the original chain, which is centrally managed from our corporate headquarters in Khumjung.

Second, there are licensed franchises that are owned and managed locally, and we license the Lhotse Love brand and menu to them. Under this model, the licensee chooses the location, hires staff, and manages their own finances. Lhotse Love provides signs, marketing materials, recipes, and of course our trademark sauces and seasoning mixes. Licensees can source meat and vegetables from local suppliers or order them from Lhotse Love.

The licensed franchise model allows more local control and reduces the amount of research required to open a restaurant in a new market. Do you know anyone that would be interested in operating a licensed franchise in Valentine Z?

I've attached some additional information about licensing. If you know someone who would be interested, please have them contact me.

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: Hmm, two models of operation, eh? I am fine with either one, to be honest. What about you guys?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I want to go with the second one. The licensed franchises. I mean, we don’t need too much of it, but we can always control the test market, and the like. All the Valentians love it, that’s for sure, but at the same time… we have to do a quick survey and the like.

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: Don’t worry about that, I’m on that one. So… we need a representative. Charmaine?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Yup, let’s get Charmaine on the line.

-----

In the meantime, Clarissa got surprised by a collectible that Gwen bought for her - it was a small die-cast model of her #7 car, with a collector’s card and a display stand.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Awww, it’s so cute! Thank you very much, Gwen!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Haha, no problem! It took me a while to get it. Err… stocks were very, very limited.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Oooh, I guess people like me! ^^

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yeah, they do!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: So… even after I get disqualified from the Chase, I still get this little model?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Oh yeah! You and the other 3 drivers that got knocked out of the Chase, they all get their little own models, too!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Well, as long as anything works! I am not very sad about being off the Chase, so… what a lovely thing! Thanks again, Gwen! You’re the best! [Hugs her]

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: [Hugs Clarissa back] Aww, haha, you’re welcome! … Clarissa, err, you can let go now.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Haha, sorry!

The Valentians – Aoutpine Yangon, Capital of Valentine Z, Earth, Valentine Z

Enter Trade Representative Charmaine Marissa Hannah “Universal Börsenmakler en Verkäuferin” Katherine Vivian Hadriane Gwyneth Amy Emilia Margrit Vera Carina Ivanne Augusta D. Melny Teresa, or just better known as Charmaine Marissa Hannah Vera Teresa. In Valentine Z, she is the one that, right next to Valentijn himself, handles the economy of the nation as a whole. She once put the nation into a socialist/communist system, but after it did not work and was unfeasible in the long run, she switched models and with approval from Valentijn, went to the idea of Limited Capitalism – the corporations and companies can work freely under the government’s eyes, but oversights are in place so as to prevent monopolies. Backstory aside, this should be yet again an easy task for Charmaine.

Charmaine was sleeping soundly when a phone rang loudly beside her. Upon noting that it was from Valentijn and Jolyn, she picked it up quickly.

Charmaine Marissa Hannah Vera Teresa: Hello! So, it’s been a while, how are you guys?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: So Charmaine! We have this offer from a fast food chain called Lhotse Love! We have some good business opportunity, and I was wondering if you would like to run their licensed franchise? I will forward you the email translated into English, so do give it a read!

Charmaine Marissa Hannah Vera Teresa: Sure thing!

After giving it a read for perhaps 15 mins, along with some discussions, she was up for it.

Charmaine Marissa Hannah Vera Teresa: Sounds good to me. It seems like licensing will work fine with all of us!

Jenny Claudia Sombra Linette Hoshiko: Where do you suppose that we run the test market in?

Charmaine Marissa Hannah Vera Teresa: Once we get the licensing rights, we should be able to start opening up, along with a couple of details. After all, Valentine Z has the no-discrimination policy, which they are fine with as well. As far as I am concerned…?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: The Sherpa people are not the ones to discriminate, I can assure you that. The only problem is… most of them seems to speak Nepalese, Mongolian, Chinese, among many others.

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: I didn’t exactly hear them speak Nepalese… just yet.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Nah, neither have I, but they have some of the displays in that language. At least, that’s as far as I’m concerned… Anyway, Charmine, are you up for it? You can send him an email if you are all right with it, and if Valentijn is all right as well.

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: I’m fine with that. For things like environmental-friendly straws and other needs like food stock, I think that can be arranged by us as well. After all, they can buy the needed stocks from us.

Charmaine Marissa Hannah Vera Teresa: If that’s the case, sounds good, then! I will send it later and CC you all. Thanks for reaching out!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: No problem. Take care of yourself, all right? We should all talk and gather back later after this race is over.

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: I’m thinking of a party, but it seriously needs to be controlled. You all know what happened last time, right?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Gawd, that was extremely costly to fix! They blew holes in everything they touch… no weapons, no magic, no offensive powers of any kind. I suppose they can use magic for entertainment. Oh, and this time, we must make sure that we have a proper landing area!

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: Yeap, I will think of all that. So… until next time then? Bye!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Bye!

Charmaine Marissa Hannah Vera Teresa: Bye!

The Valentians – Interaction with The Sherpa Empire

Subject: RE: Lhotse Love for Valentine Z – The Two Hearts.
Priority: Normal
Secrecy: Low-Medium

Greetings,

I am Charmaine, Trade Representative and the one in charge of Valentine Z’s economy, right alongside Valentijn himself. We have received your email about opening up Lhotse Love in our country, and we have decided that we would like to go with the second option. That is, we would like to acquire the licensing rights of Lhotse Love, as well as the signs, marketing materials, recipes, and the trademark sauces and seasoning mixes. Rest assured that as Jolyn have mentioned, while we operate on the model of limited capitalism, there will be little to no impact on your name, and it will only be used for its intended purpose, that is, to serve your trademarked and lovely food to the Valentian populace.

If we managed to get the license, we would be opening Lhotse Love first in our test market in the following areas:
  • Yangon, Burma, Valentine Z, which is the capital of our entire world.
  • Ottawa, Canada, Alanis Star
  • Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Alanis Star
  • New York City, New York, United States of America, Voorzichtigheid.
  • Berlin, Germany, Victoriaans Nederlands
  • Moscow, Russia, Victoriaans Nederlands
  • Tokyo, Japan, Vostrov
  • Beijing, China, Vostrov
  • Seoul, South Korea, Vostrov
  • Pyongyang, North Korea, Vostrov
(Do note that due to the history of our nation as a whole, these countries are basically all under Valentine Z and while there are slight differences, they have all been considered a safe haven. More about the different geographical areas can be found here: https://www.nationstates.net/nation=val ... /id=805234. Australia and New Zealand will not be inside, due to them being separated from Valentine Z).

If this succeeds and there’s an overwhelming demand for the restaurant and its food, we will consider expanding out to the rest of the territories under Valentine Z, including for the people in Mars Colony. For the latter, rest assured that your trademark sauces and seasonings will be unaffected and not be intercepted on its way from Earth to Mars.

With that said, I would like to ask for a few things before this deal is more or less done:
- How much is the licensing fee?
- How frequently we will need to renew our license/certificates?
- Any terms and conditions that you would like us to be attentive towards?

I hope that this deal will be a successful one, for the Valentians are indeed the fan of Lhotse Love, and we will treat your license and its properties with the same amount of respect that it has towards everything else.

Yours Sincerely,
Charmaine Marissa Hannah “Universal Börsenmakler en Verkäuferin” Katherine Vivian Hadriane Gwyneth Amy Emilia Margrit Vera Carina Ivanne Augusta D. Melny Teresa

Rinzi Zakhilwal went to visit his family in Yunnan for a couple of days between the Shellshock Batteries 400 and the Guangxi Telecom 400. He hoped that spending some quality time with his mom and eating some of her home-cooked comfort food would help calm his nerves and get him focused. He really needed to do well in Guilin if he was going to climb back into the top 8 and make the next round of the Chase.

Kai Qiang and Dinggu Wang both went straight to Guilin. Qiang lived there. He wanted to see his sister, check in on his business partner at Flying Fish Taxi, and follow through on his offer to show Jeremiah Brooke around the area. He had offered to show Brooke around last season, but then Brooke was injured and couldn't go to Guilin.

Qiang also wanted to go to Nanjing and visit Tsering, Mendok, and Kami -- but that could wait till after the race. Right now, he wanted to catch up on things at home and take his sister and Brooke for a relaxing day in the terraced hills north of Guilin...

Image

Wang was just avoiding home. He didn't want to see Nanchang. He didn't want to see his estranged wife. He didn't want to go back to reality. He didn't know what he was going to do when the season ended, and he didn't want to think about it. He tagged along on Qiang's trip to the rice terraces just so he had an excuse not to be back home in Nanchang or alone in his room.

Thea Alvarez tagged along too, but Wang's English wasn't good enough to talk much with her or Brooke.

----֎--֎--֎----

It was early in the morning the day of qualifying for the Guangxi Telecom 400. Thin wisps of fog drifted across the Li River Speedway, and thicker clouds of it hung around the cliffs above the track. As the day warmed up, the fog would burn off, but right now it was still very noticeable. The track wasn't open to the public yet and there weren't many people around. Dinggu Wang was sitting at the side of the track, looking out across the pavement with a pensive expression on his face and a die-cast toy in his hands. It was Toys '4' All's replica of his car, still in its packaging with the NSSCRA logo and a bunch of other English lettering that he couldn't read.

Someone walked up behind him and said in Sherpa, "You know you've made the big time when they start modeling toys after your car."

He turned around and found Chungba Thapa beside him. Thapa's wife and children were standing nearby.

Wang gave Thapa a half-hearted smile and said, "I guess so..."

It was nice that he'd made it to a level where people made toys modeled on his car, but at the same time, he was all too aware that he was never going to be a perennial championship contender in NSSCRA the way Thapa was in SIMS.

Thapa turned to his younger son and said, "Thundu, why don't you show him what I bought you yesterday?"

Thundu grinned excitedly, pulled three toy cars out of his pocket, and stepped forward to show them to Wang. "This one is Qiang, this one is Rinzi, and this one is you!"

Wang's smile broadened as it sank in that Thapa was not just talking to him out of pity. The Thapas actually thought he was cool. "Those are cool," said Wang.

"Yeah," said Thundu. He held up Wang's car. "This one's my favorite because it has the best colors."

Wang didn't generally like kids much, but it still warmed his heart to see the little boy proudly showing off the brightly colored toy cars.

----֎--֎--֎----

Qualifying went exceptionally well for the Sherpa drivers with Qiang, Wang, and Zakhilwal all in the top 5. But the pressure would be on to defend those good starting positions. They could expect fierce competition from the other Chase drivers, who would all be duking it out to make sure they got into the next round.

Zakhilwal in particular needed a good race to help him climb the standings, since he was currently ranked 9th and only the top 8 would advance to the next round of the Chase. He was optimistic, though. He felt like he was ready for this race -- but not without God's help. The night before the race, he made sure he set aside time to say his evening prayers without any distractions, with his mind focused and his prayer rug actually facing toward Mecca, not just any random place vaguely west of Guilin.

For the upcoming race weekend, GFR stayed at an old, traditional looking inn in the Guilin countryside. Very different from the modern hotels in St. Kanye and elsewhere, but it made up for it in "charm", as Thea Alvarez said. The Yeezies had to bring their Chinese and Sherpa guidebooks as the staff spoke little or no English. They ate the traditional food, but also tried some Lhotse Love (gotta support an NSSCRA sponsor; the restaurant logo appears on the #7).

On the day when Kai Qiang said he would be taking Jeremiah Brooke sightseeing, the latter woke up early, ate some of the inn's fried rice, and got himself ready for the day. He was about to leave for the bus station when he was approached by Alvarez, who just woke up.

TA: Aaah! How are you already dressed up? You didn't wake me up! I'm coming with you and Qiang.
JB: (sarcastically) I'm not your dad, Thea. Besides, you already went on this trip last year. Let me have a turn.
TA: Hey, Qiang said I could tag along.
JB: Then what are you waiting for? Go get dressed. I'll see you in the lobby.
TA: Is Skip coming?
JB: Nah. He and the others went to town, or so they told me.

Skip Stiller, Philip West and Sage Caldwell (who was again on standby) did go downtown to find out what they can do there. We'll get to them later.

Alvarez usually took long to get dressed (a girl's gotta look pretty) but this time she just slipped on something comfortable - a sweater, shorts and sandals. She carried the bag given to her last season by the Vannish. Brooke wore jeans, sneakers, and a T-shirt of some Hapiloppian metal band.

The two arrived at the bus station about an hour later. Soon Qiang (both Kai and Yuan) came, along with Wang. The Yeezies greeted them.

JB: Hey, man. This must be your sister. Hello. I'm Jeremiah Brooke and this is Thea Alvarez. We race for St. Kanye. Qiang, help a dude out and translate?
TA: Nice to meet you, Qiang's sister. Hello, Wang. Gosh, I can't wait to see what's new!

Meanwhile, Stiller and company ran into Paul Nystrom, who just had breakfast at Lhotse Love. He and Liuyong Xu split up because the latter wanted to go home and see what's up. The four decided to have their own boy's day out.

They went to flea markets, local food stalls and even bars. They also found a basketball court and played 2v2, with Stiller and West vs. Sage and Nystrom.

Back to Qiang's group, Brooke and Alvarez took a lot of photos, even if the latter already did so last season. Later, they would upload these photos to Twii.tur and Spacebook, tagging each other, Qiang, and Wang. (OOC: Sherpa, if Wang doesn't have social media, you can just say it's a different person called Dinggu Wang that Alvarez and Brooke searched for.) Brooke also tagged Stacie Houston, and Alvarez tagged the Valentians. One of her pics together with Qiang was captioned "The Knockout and the Stud".

JB: Man, this place looks nicer in person than it does in the photos Thea sent me when I was in the hospital.

At the rice terraces, Alvarez tried to take a selfie, but lost her footing and rolled down a hill. Fortunately, it was only a short distance, and she only had scratches and a broken nail.

TA: Ouch! Ow, I scraped my knee!
JB: Trouble! The 46 just rolled over!
TA: Shut up.

Stiller's group eventually bumped into Drake Stevenson (OOC: Hap, the place is up to you.) They talked to him, and the topic soon went to Chris Holmes.

Sage Caldwell: You know, I feel it's gonna be funny if the prankster becomes the prank victim.
Philip West: So you're saying that we should enlist for Drake's help in pranking Holmes?
SC: Something like that, yeah.
Skip Stiller: What about Qiang? We gotta make sure Holmes doesn't suspect him, or things are gonna get ugly.
SC: Yeah, that's the problem. Drake, you got any ideas?

A bar in downtown Guilin, Guangxi Territory, The Sherpa Empire
Early on in race weekend
Drake Stevenson and Marty Lewis were discussing matters at a local bar concerning the future of Team Blue. They wanted to find a place where nobody else within the team could overhear them, and, thinking quite clearly and not thinking a thing of the fact that Team Blue, to a man, liked to tip the bottle, they chose a local bar to discuss these matters. Over a few beers, the two discussed Amanda McAlister’s power play in an attempt to wrest control of the team away from her father, Ken Henson. Both men were in favor of the move, as was Marty’s employer, the Preston Automobile Company. But their discussion came to a brisk halt as soon as Drake saw three familiar faces walk in.

It was Sage Caldwell, Philip West and Skip Stiller, racing drivers from Saint Kanye. They had enjoyed a great day downtown, and Drake was more than happy to see the three Yeezies. Conversation quickly turned to the subject of Chris Holmes, and the idea of pranking him. Of course, the idea of pranking the prankster seemed like a delicious idea, but Skip worried about the idea that Kai Qiang would be blamed for any pranks pulled on Chris.

After all, Chris was the one that put the iguana in Kai’s car, and Kai was probably still smarting over it.

“Drake, you got any ideas?” Sage asked.

“Ideas? Hmmm, let me think about it,” Drake said.

“You want to prank Chris Holmes?” Marty asked, a huge smile coming over his face. “How do you want to do it? I mean, we could put a cougar in his car, but I think he’d probably pin that one on Qiang. We could put a bumper sticker on the back of his car, too. I even drew one up a few weeks ago, but decided against using it. Check this one out.”

Marty showed the Yeezies his bumper sticker that he would have planted on the back of Chris’s car.

Image

Drake looked at the picture of the bumper sticker, and looked at Marty like he wanted to smack him.

“You moron, you put MY phone number on that bumper sticker!” Drake barked at him. “My phone would have exploded!”

After some brief thoughts, Drake had another idea.

“What about a sound machine?” Drake asked. “I picked one up at French’s Electronics a few days ago. We can configure this thing to turn on periodically and irritate the hell out of him. He’ll wonder where the hell it came from and we can sit back and watch the fireworks and laugh our asses off. Sounds better to me than using some poor animal.”

“You know, I’ve got some weapons-grade fireworks…” Marty started.

“What, and kill the poor guy?” Drake shot back, actually looking appalled. “I just want to get a laugh, not kill the guy!”

The next morning, just before practice, Drake asked the Yeezies to distract Chris while he installed the sound machine. Chris was more than happy to talk to them about his love for video games and baseball, and it turned out Chris could talk at an extended length about these subjects. While that was going, Drake was fumbling with the device, and a pit crew member almost caught Drake in the act.

“What the hell are you doing, Stevenson?” the crew member asked.

“Installing a signal booster,” Drake replied after a brief hesitation. “Last time we were here, Chris was complaining about having radio difficulties. Must be something involving the altitude or something. I’ve got this thing here and it’ll work out.”

Unfortunately, Drake’s prank did not go to plan. In fact, it went badly wrong almost from the minute it started unfolding.

1.) The device was not configured correctly.
Drake didn’t know this, but in addition to the device annoying Chris, the device beamed its noise over the Hapilopper Television Network’s feed being beamed back home. Consequently, any sound that Drake would play for Chris would play on the HTN television feed of the on-track activity. Naturally, this led to some discussion among the HTN commentators. The first sound strongly resembled a goat roaring out in agitation, which the commentators tried to brush off as some sort of “technical difficulty.” Unfortunately, the second sound caused a panic.

2.) The second sound Drake played was a noise that tripped the Emergency Warning System back home in Hapilopper.
The noise, which people likened to “duck farts”, was aired on HTN’s cable channel H-Sports, which was airing the practice session. It was late at night back home in Hapilopper, and that evening, people were either turning in for the night or finishing their last beer of the night. There was work the next day, and people had to be up early. Those with their televisions on were quickly sobered up by the sound of the duck farts. It was a sound that gave the warning that a child was missing, some really bad weather was on their way, or worse, someone had targeted Hapilopper with an intercontinental ballistic missile.
3.) Drake’s sound device accidentally triggered a nationwide activation of Hapilopper’s Emergency Warning System.
And those televisions and radios that weren’t on switched themselves on. Every television and radio in Hapilopper was on, and every channel shouted the same message.

“THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ALERT," a cold, robotic voice said. "PLEASE AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT WILLIAM MATHIS."

To a man, woman and child, however, Hapilopper acted with pure annoyance. There was the initial shock of the message of impending doom, but then the Hapiloppians realized that nobody was on bad enough terms with the nation to cause any kind of war, let alone fire off nuclear missiles. Some thought President William Mathis had gone on a bender with some of his aides and accidently pressed the wrong button.

Sure enough, about ten minutes later after the alert message had sounded, President Mathis addressed the nation.

“Ladies and gentlemen, uh, false alarm,” Mathis said, irritation lacing his voice. “There is no emergency.”

A few hours later, after practice had ended for the day, Drake returned to the Team Blue Center to find Ken Henson and Artie Adams, executive producer for the Hapilopper Television Network, waiting for him.

“Stevenson, you want to explain why this sound machine ended up in Chris Holmes’ car, and you want to explain why it was making noises over the TV broadcast?” Ken asked.

“Making noises?” Drake asked. “Um, like what?”

“Drake, Hapilopper’s Emergency Warning System was tripped by our broadcast of practice, and we traced the sound coming from a sound machine that came from the Chris Holmes car,” Artie explained. “Now, a crew member said he saw you install the machine in the car. You want to explain yourself?”

“Well, um, shit,” Drake muttered. “What do you mean the Emergency Warning System was tripped?”

“Your sound machine triggered a nationwide activation of the Emergency Warning System, Drake,” Artie said. “Every television and radio in Hapilopper got a warning. You want to explain this?”

“Shit,” Drake said, his eyes going wide. It was obvious this prank had backfired in a huge way. “How the hell did YOU guys get it? I just wanted it to go in Holmes’s car!”

Drake learned later that the device had been badly configured, and being no electronics expert, he just rolled with it and installed the device in the 81 car. After Drake confessed to the crime, the Hapilopper City Police indicated that he would be arrested upon return to Hapilopper and would spend one day in jail for accidentally inciting a riot, even though no riot had taken place.

Skip Stiller and company found out that even though Kai Qiang wasn't blamed for their prank on Chris Holmes, things still got ugly. They confronted Drake Stevenson at the track the morning before qualifying.

Skip Stiller: Listen, man, we never wanted this to happen. We never knew this would escalate quickly.
Sage Caldwell: Yeah, I feel we're to blame. We just wanted to, ya know.
SS: Thing is, we're sorry. We'll do anything to help you get out of your mess. Even pay up if the league fines you.
Philip West: Did we know the plan would fail, though? Nah-uh. I don't think so.
SS: Still, we coulda planned for the worst. We're racers, how did we not think of the worst case scenario?
SC: So let us know what we can do for you this time.

Thea Alvarez was going around, telling other drivers about her trip with Qiang and the others. "It was fun! You should have been there!" she said a lot. Jeremiah Brooke was already going over setups with his crew. He wanted to win again at the track where he got his first career NSSCRA win two seasons ago.

But it's going to be a tough climb for him. Engine problems caused him to limp to the start/finish line after finishing just one qualifying lap, and he ultimately will be sharing the last row with Lisanderian Andrew Holden.

Meanwhile, at the Wagensvolk camp, SKYNET reporter Alita Richfield was getting the hang of being in a stock car. Sometimes she would ask to extend A7DXZ5's practice by a lap or two, and whenever she found the car going fast, she shouted "Woohoo! I'm Thea Alvarez!" Of course, this didn't make it to the footage sent to the channel.

Rd26 - Li River Qualifying

Postby Vilita and Turori » Wed Sep 18, 2019 5:53 pm

Guangxi Telecom 400, Li River Speedway, Guilin, The Sherpa Empire :: Neither Vilita and Turori Motorsports' iBen Toralmintii nor Team Tropicorp's Cocoabo #23 had stuck around the extra week to attend the Guangxi Telecom 400 after having competed in the Rumble in the Rice Fields at the very same Li River Speedway just one week prior as part of the IRACT circuit at the Guilin Racing Club prior to the NSSCRA coming into town. Toralmintii had been battling in the Top 5 much of the race after starting from pole position but got caught up while trying to get around some significantly slower and erratic local entrants causing minor damage to the right front of the #77 machine. While the damage was only cosmetic it appeared to have immediate negative implications on the handling of Toralmintii's car which never showed quite the same speed in the final segment of the race.

Toralmintii would ultimately finish one place behind the Cocoabo who was driving in their first ever Stock Car event. 15th place was certainly a ways below the cut line to advance to this weekends Guangxi Telecom 400 and Toralmintii would have been disappointed with their finish on the night. The race was won by a local driver Chungba Thapa who beat out Yeezie driver Philip West in the #01. Despite missing out on the checkered flag, West was invited by IRACT to fulfill one of the two Open Charter spots for the Guangxi Telecom 400 in addition to the race winner Chungba Thapa. It would mean that Li Liangmei, the expected Open Charter driver at the Li River Speedway, would be left out entirely after finishing 4th in the Rumble at the Rice Fields.

The remaining teams would take their chance to earn Pole Position during the Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Award qualifying session. Drivers would take the track in the inverse order of their speeds from the first practice session and it meant the start of the session was filled with some slow lap times. In fact, each of the 10 slowest cars in the Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Qualifying would go on to miss the race as each would be a non-chartered driver that had to qualify into the race on speed. The two Lisander drivers would take their usual place at the back of the field but they would have unfamiliar company on the back row of the grid in Glordious Free Republic Motorsports driver Jeremiah Brooke whose #18 Hyde Medical Group Chadwick struggled with the 45th fastest time in Qualifying behind the entire contingent from Vangaziland and New Northwesteros.

After winning their first ever points-paying NSSCRA event, Cocoabo #78 would be the 24th fastest car on the grid. Unsurprisingly the battle for the Pole Award came down to a battle between the Sherpalanders Kai Qiang, Dinngu wang and the current Rookie of the Season points leader Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal. Surprisingly however Wang and Zakhilwal were unable to post a speed faster than that of the Valkyrie #31 Gwen Tracer Allison. The Valentians were fast throughout with #15 Jolyn Helen Ceeta also inside the top five but they could not unseat Kai Qiang who earned the Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Award for the third time this season and first since the 3rd points race of the season in New Northwesteros.

While the Vilita and Turori Motorsports drivers were not on pole winning pace they showed a consistency that could bode well on race day. Incredibly the Vilitan Cove region drivers all posted nearly the same speeds on track with Yraaga Gilli'i barely hanging on to a Top 10 Qualifying position in 10th place, Former development driver Rockii Ezis one place behind in 11th driving the #48 CoCoCo Rocket for Newmanistan's Rocket Motorsports, Centur Tiones in the #2 Tiones Lumber Dart claiming the 12th starting position and River 'Shark' Suzgar the NSSCRA Season 6 champion rounding out the bunch in 13th place.

Expanding just slightly outward to Vilitan Calania and you find the Team Tropicorp Drivers just ahead with Cocoabo #28 just one spot ahead of Gilli'i in 9th place and right in front of Cocoabo #28 on the pace laps will be their teammate #88 Anavella Ariiki in 7th. It was the third straight Top 10 Qualifying run for Anavella Ariiki who has now qualified in the Top 19 for thirteen consecutive races yet finished no better than 22nd over the previous 10 rounds.

It will set up an interesting race at the Li River Speedway with the current Chase points leader Jeremiah Brooke starting the event in the very last row with the entire field in front of them. Brooke heads into the final event of the Round of 12 just 24 points ahead of the cut line which means they will need to climb through the field just to retain their place in the Round of 8, not just to take the top spot in the Round. With the Amazing Delano 420 having been won by Team Blue's Frank Bronson and the Shellshock Batteries 400 having been won by Cocoabo #78, none of the 12 Chase drivers were guaranteed to advance to the Round of 8 and every driver would have to fight at the Li River Speedway in order earn their place. Two of Vilita and Turori Motorsports three full time drivers will take the green flag outside the Top 8 with Centur Tiones having had to climb out of a hole they dug in Xanneria yet still being 4 points below the Cut Line despite a strong showing in Hampton Island. River 'Shark' Suzgar II is five points behind Tiones in the standings and both drivers will be eying the Trio of Yeezie drivers from Glorious Free Republic Motorsports who have an anchor hold on the Top spots in the chase field with just five races left in the season.

Li River Speedway, Guilin, The Sherpa Empire
Midway through the Guangxi Telecom 400
Chet Byrd had run near the front of the field for much of the race, battling with guys such as Dinggu Wang, Lexi Patterson, Clarissa Alanis Star and Kai Qiang. But as the race progressed, something strange happened. He felt he just wasn’t having fun anymore. He started thinking about what had happened in the last few weeks and started thinking that all this infighting just wasn’t worth it anymore. When a full-course caution came out in the closing stages of the race, Chet brought his car in to the pits, turned the motor off, unbuckled and got out of the car.

His crew was dumbfounded. There had been no indication of trouble with the car. But Chet was done. He never looked back, even as his crew asked him what was wrong with the car or what was the issue. But he wouldn’t answer them. He just walked back to the Team Blue Center, quietly and sadly.

Eventually, they got their answer.

“It’s not fun anymore,” Chet said, taking off his helmet, and pouring himself a glass of 15-year old scotch. “I’ve been racing in the top level of motorsport since 1979 and I told myself I’d quit when it wasn’t fun anymore. All this infighting, all this bullshit, I don’t need this. I don’t need this anymore. I’m financially secure. I’ve got a nice house. I’ve got a great family. I can get out while I still can. I’m done. I’m going home and I’m not coming back.”

As the race progressed, word was starting to spread that Chet had indeed retired from racing. Drake Stevenson, who was facing a 24-hour jail sentence as soon as he got back, stepped off of Chris Holmes’ war wagon to figure out the truth. A few minutes later, he made it to the TBC where Chet was writing a note.

“Heard something about you retiring, is this true?” Drake asked.

“Yeah, it’s true. I’m done. I don’t want to do this anymore,” Chet replied sadly.

The note indicated that after all the infighting had broken out, it had soured Chet on racing anymore. By the time the race had ended, Chet delivered the hand-written note to Darius Buford of the Hapilopper Television Network, who soon after broke the story that Chet had retired from racing, would not be traveling with Team Blue for the rest of the season, but would likely take a consultant’s role with the team starting next season. Notably, the note indicated that he felt that the team owner, Ken Henson, had lost the respect and the confidence of those in the organization.

It was a damning comment, but the fact was, Chet couldn’t take it anymore.

Which brought the question to who would replace him. The original rumor stated that Drake Stevenson would replace Chet for the final few races, but Drake personally shot those rumors down, stating he was not interested in competing in the last few races of the season, and would much rather just sit from the sidelines. The next rumor stated that iBen Toralmintii would drive the 73 car, as something of a “thank you” from Drake for Toralmintii giving him the ride in the World Grand Prix Championship. But instead of Toralmintii, his friend Juracai Klianiota would drive the 73 car for the last few races of the season. Klianiota had previously run in the NSSCRA back in season four and had most recently served as a test driver for Tropicorp Racing Aelund in the World Grand Prix Championship.

While Klianiota would run the 73 car, another change was looming within Team Blue, and pending approval from the NSSCRA officials, Frank Bronson’s 37 car would change its number to 8. The #8 had been used by the Communist Union of B in the first few races of the season before the team from that obscure land went belly-up. Team Blue had run the #8 in HASCAR for years, so such a number switch just seemed logical.

As Team Blue returned to Hapilopper after the Guangxi Telecom 400, a member of the Hapilopper City Police Department was waiting for Drake Stevenson. Drake would be led away in the squad car and taken to a Hapilopper City jail, to serve 24 hours for a stunt that inadvertently led to a panic in Hapilopper. Drake had bought what was called a “sound machine” – more specifically, a “signal jammer” from French’s Electronics, and had the ability to play random noises in whatever signal he had intercepted.

While he had just intended to play a prank on Chris Holmes, it was later discovered that the device had been set to the wrong frequency and at the wrong strength, which meant that in addition to playing whatever sound he wanted on Holmes’ radio frequency, it also somehow got picked up on a broadcast feed being used by the Hapilopper Television Network and by its cable channel, H-Sports. Drake would have done very well to just use farting noises and belches and the like, but instead used a digital tone that was used to send out an alert via the nation’s Emergency Warning System, and unfortunately, that tone was so calibrated to send out what was called a “National Emergency Warning,” which was typically reserved for nuclear attacks, orbital friendship cannons or meteor showers. Drake had no idea, he had just picked up the sound off a video sharing webpage on the internet.

However, that sound was picked up on H-Sports’ broadcast and sent several listening stations haywire. Those stations, and other stations across Hapilopper, started reporting those same tones, and before long, every television and radio station in Hapilopper was reporting this “National Emergency Warning” before President William Mathis, who had been sleeping, had to personally turn off the alerts, stating that the alerts had been falsely sent out.

Drake was sentenced (rather swiftly) to 24 hours in jail for inciting a panic, his device (which had already been taken by HTN) was confiscated by the Hapilopper Bureau of Communications, and was facing a possible fine nearing a half million dollars. The HBC took the use of these tones very seriously, and after hearing Drake’s explanation that he “had just gotten it off some video site,” requested that all of those videos be removed.

By spending a day in jail, however, Drake wound up missing some huge news that became public when the NSSCRA circus arrived at the Kardashia Autoring in Saint Kanye.

(OOC: And I will get to that on Sunday or Monday, as well as the new paint schemes for both Bronson and Klianimota. I will be stepping away for a few days to recharge my batteries after what has been a very stressful few weeks for me.)

NSSCRA: STILLER DELIVERS AT LI RIVER
Yeezie vet earns third season win; Zakhilwal clinches ROTY award

by Dante Dinkley

GUILIN - It's threes all around at the end of the Guangxi Telecom 400 NSSCRA (Nationstates Stock Car Racing Association) race at Li River Speedway here in the Sherpa Empire.

Skip Stiller, driver of the #3 QED Car Rentals Chadwick for St. Kanye's Glorious Free Republic Motorsports, earned win number three of this season, which is also his third season in the league. Stiller snapped a three-race winning streak for drivers who are not part of the Chase field, and ensures his advancement to the third round of the playoffs. Good performances for Stiller's teammates also meant that all three of GFR's full-time drivers will advance. Not only that, Stiller made some "Yeezie magic" work for him as grabbed the lead from hometown driver and polesitter Kai Qiang with three laps remaining in the road course race.

Finishing third after the "Blue Trey" and "Flying Fish" (the respective nicknames of Stiller's ride and Qiang's #44 Khamdo Electronics TMW) is the #37 Hapilopper Airlines Preston, driven by Frank Bronson of Hapilopper's Team Blue. Fourth is Vilita and Turori Motorsports' River Suzgar in the #14 Dart, followed by Team Cassadaigua's Meghan Sharpe in the #4 Spacebook Blaze. Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal, driver of the #06 Mayhem AutoModi, clinched the season's Rookie of the Year award on home asphalt, his sixth place finish allowing him to advance to the round of eight and become the only newcomer to still have a shot at the title. Seventh was the history-making Cocoabo #78, last week's winner, in the same-numbered Cocoabo Park Dart, then Sharpe's teammate Jenna Logan in the #11 Pink Love Clothing Blaze, and then Stiller's two teammates Jeremiah Brooke (who won here two seasons ago) and Thea Alvarez in the #18 Hyde Medical Group and #46 Multiversal Automotive Coatings Chadwick, respectively. Five places away from the top ten is another GFR driver, Philip West, making the first of two starts in the season. His #01 factory-sponsored Chadwick will be back next week at the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 in the Kanyean capital.

Aside from the Kanyean trio and ROTY Zakhilwal, the other drivers who remain in the hunt for the championship next month in Tundra Falls, Newmanistan, are Qiang, Suzgar, Cassadagan Stacie Houston (#27), and Vilita and Turori's Yraaga Gilli'i (#41). Eliminated are Suzgar and Gilli'i's teammate Centur Tiones (#2) as well as the remaining hopes for Valentine Z, Hapilopper and Jebslund, Jolyn Helen Ceeta (#15), Chris Holmes (#81) and Eva Kerman (#13) respectively.

"It feels great to win here", Stiller told the Kibitzer. "It wasn't easy. The Sherpa racers gave me quite the challenge, especially Qiang. He was dominant throughout, from the start where he got on pole in front of the home fans, and until the very end when he had the lead before I caught up with him. I know some of the locals were rooting for him to hold on for the victory, and I understand the feeling, but as a racer, I can't just give up when I'm in the position to win."

Brooke said, "Well, I wasn't able to get a second win in this track, but I think I did pretty well, considering I had to start from the last row. This is a great place, a beautiful place. I'm gonna thank Qiang as well, for taking the time to show his fellow drivers around his hometown. That trip definitely helped clear our minds of the stresses that come with this highly competitive league." The "Hyde Ride" driver was referring to a tour of the Guilin countryside that he, Alvarez, Qiang, and Dinggu Wang took a few days ago. Alvarez added,"Would definitely recommend this place if any Kanyean out there is planning to take a vacation abroad."

GFR's young female racer also said that she is excited to go back home for next week's race, fourth from last in the NSSCRA's eighth season. "I hope we keep on doing well, especially since well be back in St. Kanye. I also want to see my family and friends again, and of course the local fans. I hope for a great race for all involved." West said, "It's good to be back. I'll take the top fifteen. Let's see what we can do next week. Hopefully better." GFR's two part-timers will take the two open charter spots for the 400, the other being Sage Caldwell in the #19 Blood Moon Beer machine. SKYNET (Saint KanYe NETwork) sports reporter Alita Richfield will "drive" Wagensvolk's A7DXZ5 car (#55) due to Kanyean laws restricting the usage of self-driving vehicle.

The management of the newly-opened Kardashia Autoring, where the 400 will be held, contacted Tropicorp, requesting the company to bring their popular Pit Crew Challenge side event for the forthcoming race weekend. Various Kanyean companies will also set up booths, including the main sponsors for all GFR cars, as well as Chadwick Motors Inc., sponsor of the race and the Yeezie team's manufacturer. One Kanyean fan and one foreign fan will be randomly chosen to win a brand new Chadwick C-1000 (basically the GFR car, but street version). Chadwick CEO Mason Bell will give the command to start the engines; his son Mason Jr. will drive the pace car. All qualifying sessions and races will be broadcast live on SKYNET Sports Channel 12, and online at nsscra.skynet.stk.

(OOC: I could just say yes and make it easy, but why squander a RP opportunity! :p )

To whom it may concern at Team Blue,

We have received your request to change the vehicle number of Frank Bronson to the #8 for the remainder of the season. The number has not been used this year, but was granted to the short-lived nation of Communist Nation of B. Due to that team shutting its doors, we are aware that the number has become available and acknowledge your interest in using it.

However, a number change of a high profile driver at this stage of the season can create some headaches. First and foremost, we have the fans of Mr. Bronson to consider as they have purchased merchandise for their driver and now it will seem outdated as he would no longer be driving the #37 vehicle. While the brunt of possible fan backlash could be towards your team, we will also have people writing to us stating that we should not have allowed the material. This will also create a hardship among the tracks to change any of their pre-printed program material or any other promotional information that they have already prepared.

Not to mention, at the NSSCRA offices, we would have to update our track software and timing information for the change.

In acknowledgment of these issues, NSSCRA requests a $25,000 processing fee in order to make this change.

Thank you.

Familiar Faces fill up slots in Round of 8

| 1 | #3 Skip Stiller (Saint Kanye)*** | 3138 |
| 2 | #44 Kai Qiang (The Sherpa Empire)* | 3132 |
| 3 | #18 Jeremiah Brooke (Saint Kanye)** | 3126 |
| 4 | #46 Thea Alvarez (Saint Kanye)** | 3118 |
| 5 | #27 Stacie Houston (Cassadaigua)** | 3107 |
| 6 | #06 Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal (The Sherpa Empire)* | 3105 |
| 7 | #41 Yraaga Gilli'i (Vilita & Turori)*** | 3102 |
| 8 | #14 River 'Shark' Suzgar II (Vilita & Turori)* | 3101 |

With the conclusion of the Guangxi Telecom 400 at the Li River Speedway in The Sherpa Empire, the NSSCRA Chase Playoff field was cut from 12 drivers down to 8 as the series prepared to move on to the final three-race round before the Championship Finale at the Tundra Falls Proving Ground in Newmanistan.

Throughout the NSSCRA Season a number of new teams have risen from the back of the back to challenge and earn race victories. Team Blue from Hapilopper made their debut in the NSSCRA making the move from the HASCAR circuit and impressed greatly with a pair of race victories - one earlier in the season from Chris Holmes insuring the Hapilopper team would have a driver in the NSSCRA Playoff Rounds, and one to kick off the recently completed Round of 12 in Xanneria for Hapilopper Airlines driver Frank Bronson. The Valkyrie Racing team from Valentine Z also picked up a pair of victories - both coming in the regular season ensuring that the debutant team would have two drivers in the NSSCRA Chase Playoff Round; #7 Clarissa Alanis Star and #15 Jolyn Helen Ceeta.

However, the checkered flag at the Guangxi Telecom 400 in The Sherpa Empire signalled not only the end of the race and victory for Glorious Free Republics driver Skip Stiller, but also the end of the Honeymoon for the circuits new teams. With Holmes and Ceeta outside the Top 8, Team Blue and Valkyrie Racing, along with Jebslunder Motorworken and driver Oberst Eva Kerman in 12th place were eliminated from the playoffs leaving drivers from just four teams to compete for the NSSCRA Season 8 title. Six of the remaining Round of 8 Drivers are the same as those that competed in the Round of 8 During NSSCRA Season 8 while Jeremiah Brooke joins their Glorious Free Republic Motorsports teammates after missing the playoff stretch through injury one season ago and the circuit's top rookie driver Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal from IRACT's Top 3.

While Six of the Eight drivers who have advanced to the Round of 8 Playoff Chase round are returning from the same round one season prior, at least one of the missing drivers was a Championship 4 driver one season ago - Ellie Lindskog of Vangaziland. The Vannish Motors team did not keep pace with the technology and investment required to maintain top results during NSSCRA Season 8 and has instead used the campaign to collect data - and prize money to help them in future seasons. It means even if everything remains true to form from NSSCRA Season 7 there would be at least one new face in the Championship Four round. The Sherpa Empire's Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal is the only remaining driver who has never before competed in the Round of 8 and will be looking to steal a spot in the Championship Four.

Only Saint Kanye's Skip Stiller won a race during the Round of 12 and of the eight remaining playoff drivers only the two Glorious Free Republic Motorsports drivers, Stiller and #18 Jeremiah Brooke have won a race in the Playoff Chase thus far. They should be favored to add another win to their tally as the circuit heads to the Kradashia Autoring in Saint Kanye for the first time to kick off the Round of 8 before moving on to a pair of returning events on the schedule in Jebslund and Vangaziland.

Of All drivers remaining in the Round of 8 perhaps Vilita and Turori Motorsports driver #41 Yraaga Gilli'i will be most favored to advance to the final round having finished 3rd and 2nd one season ago at the Die Landschaftlich Schöne Strecke and the Imperial Speedway respectively. Gilli'i's teammate, Centur Tiones, will be extra frustrated that the #2 Tiones Lumber Dart will not be advancing to the Round of Eight as they were race winners at Die Landschaftlich Schöne Strecke in Jebslund during NSSCRA Season 7 while Tiones was the winner at Imperial Speedway in Vangaziland during NSSCRA Season 6. Only Glorious Free Republic driver #46 Thea Alvarez also has a victory at either of the remaining tracks in the Round of 8 having won in Vangaziland during NSSCRA Season 7. While there is plenty of form to look at for the final two races of the Round of 8 the entire field will be starting from scratch at the Kardashia Autoring and the Kardashia Cahdwick Dealers 400 is likely to be an exciting wild card event that could give one of the Round of 8 drivers a direct ticket punched to the Championship Four by the time the checkered flag falls.

#7 Juracai Klianiota competing as a rookie during NSSCRA Season 4

Race Eelandii! Driving Experience & Racing School, Eelandii Grand Prix Course, Eelandii, Turori :: Juracai Klianiota was preparing for another week as instructor at iBen Toralmintii's Race Eelandii! Racing School. There were no hard feelings from the two long time teammates and friends when Toralmintii took over Klianiota's drive at Tropicorp Racing Aelund at the end of World Grand Prix Championship Season 16 - After all it was Toralmintii who had retired from the Top Flight open wheel series in order to make room for Klianiota to secure the license they would need to take their chance at the Abovian team. With Toralmintii having been thrust to the sports pinnacle after setting a new all-time record for consecutive Grand Prix victories at the sports highest level, the opportunity for Klianiota to step back into the Tropicorp Racing Aelund drivers seat after Toralmintii righted the ship for the team seemed to be a long ways off. Of course, there were other opportunities available but for Klianiota it would be tough to step away from the test driver seat at the World Grand Prix Constructors champion team to run for a mid pack or back marker team, even iBen Toralmintii's own team the iBen Toralmintii's Race Eelandii! Vilita and Turori Motorworks side.

As Klianiota was finishing up a session at Toralmintii's driving school, they got a call from iBen himself. The Turorian veteran started the conversation by asking Juracai what he had planned for the next few weekends. Klianiota knew what this meant - iBen likely had a few sponsor appearances lined up that would conflict with his ability to mind his own driving school and in order to satisfy the guarantee of having sessions tought by a current or former World Grand Prix Championship level driver, Klianiota would be the choice for the job. "Wanna go drive a stock car like the old days?" Toralmintii surprised Klianiota with the request out of left field. While the two drivers cut their teeth in the NSSCRA driving stock cars for Vilita and Turori Motorsports, it had been nearly 10 years since Klianiota had last driven such a car. Of course, the alternative was teaching a driving school so Klianiota quickly said 'Sure why not!' and started packing his things without asking any questions and just trusting that his old friend Toralmintii had his best interests in mind.

Turns out iBen was looking for a way to give back to Juracai who politely stepped aside when his rookie campaign in the World Grand Prix Championships were not going to plan. Klianiota was always regarded as a wildly talented driver with an inability to finish races. Not just to finish them in victory lane, but to finish them at all. During one particularly frustrating season in the World Grand Prix 2 season, Klianiota qualified in the Top 5 nearly every single week but DNF'd virtually all races until finally pulling it together to win in dominant fashion in the season finale. It was that victory and the raw speed shown throughout the season that earned Klianiota their seat in the World Grand Prix Championship with Tropicorp Racing Aelund to begin with. But it was a familiar story throughout their career, even in the Super Formula Championship where Klianiota sat on pole position 6 times in 10 races, Failing to finish 9 of them and winning the 10th.

Now, Klianiota will get a chance to prove a little more discipline behind the wheel of a stock car thanks to the close relationship between iBen Toralmintii and Drake Stevenson. It was Toralmintii who gave the Hapilopper driver their big break, setting aside former World Grand Prix driver champion Jai Kardaeri to put Stevenson in the Race Eelandii! Vilita and Turori Motorworks car for a handful of races during the Atlantian Oceania swing in the most recent World Grand Prix Championship season. Stevenson improved throughout their term before nearly winning at the Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course before being passed by Toralmintii himself. The performance almost certainly earned Stevenson a contract to return to the team for the World Grand Prix Championships 18th season if they so chose. Now, with the sudden retirement of Chet Byrd from behind the wheel of the #73 Team Blue Skychief ride on the NSSCRA circuit, Stevenson decided to return the favor and give a chance to Toralmintii's protege who will finish out the season in the Team Blue machine.

Qiang was pissed at himself for not hanging onto the lead after he started on pole and had a good race. It wasn't that he felt entitled to win; it was the way Stiller passed him so late in the race. He was slamming things around, cussing up a storm in Vietnamese and Dzongkha, when his crew chief shook him roughly and said, "Qiang, calm down! We'll just win the next one." Qiang started to protest, but his crew chief cut him off saying, "If we win the next one, you'll be in the final 4. So calm down -- and we'll just win the next one."

Qiang calmed down, and even broke into a smile as he realized "win the next one" was more than a platitude. "Okay, you're right. We'll just win the next one."

When the press caught up with him, he was in a much better mood and he used that same line: "We'll just win the next one."

Qiang was very confused by the rumors coming out of Team Blue. Apparently, they had somehow managed to trigger a nationwide emergency alert back home in their native Hapilopper, and now there were rumors that Chet Byrd was retiring. Qiang wasn't entirely clear why Byrd had exited the race. He assumed something had gone wrong with Byrd's car and the problem just wasn't obvious from a distance -- or maybe it was another Hapiloppian prank gone wrong. But it hadn't looked like a career-ending problem. When things were winding down, Qiang sought out Chet and found him with a drink in his hand, looking very sad. "Hey, are you okay?" Qiang said. (He is saying this in English.)

Meanwhile, Rinzi Zakhilwal was profusely thanking Allah for letting him have a good race and climb into the top 8. He also thanked his crew, AutoModi, and Highland Tire for making sure his car and tires were up to the job, and some miscellaneous thank yous to his other sponsors -- but Allah came first.

Chungba Thapa was kind of disappointed that he couldn't keep up with the top NSSCRA drivers, but he was a good sport about it. "I never knew there was racing of this caliber in the Chinese Territories," he said. "It's kind of cool, but maybe stock cars aren't my thing."

----֎--֎--֎----

After the Guangxi Telecom 400, Kai Qiang went to Nanjing to see Mendok, Tsering, and Kami -- and to do something very important. On Wednesday, they all went to the local courthouse to file a marriage application. The clerk recognized them immediately and started gushing, "Eeee! Qiang Kai! What are you doing here???"

Qiang explained why he was there and handed her the paperwork.

"Holy Mother, you're really getting married??? I thought the magazines were just stirring up rumors to fill space! Wait a minute... You're not really getting a sex change, are you?"

"No! Just because I'm getting married doesn't mean you should believe all the other shit they print in the gossip rags! Those things are full of crap!"

Each of them had to take turned showing ID and signing the forms where the clerk could watch to make sure the signatures were genuine. After Qiang signed, the clerk told him to print his name in Sherpa because his signature was in Chinese characters and nothing was legally binding unless it was in Sherpa.

When all the forms were signed and the clerk had confirmed that they were all filled out correctly, she gave them their marriage certificate and cheerfully sent them on their way. As they left they could hear the clerks chattering excitedly, "I can't believe it's really him!"

"That's so cool!"

"It's too bad we're not allowed to take pictures in here; I would have asked to take a picture with them!"

Back at their apartment, Qiang, Mendok, and Tsering shot a short video announcing their marriage, which they posted to their various social media accounts. There was a little kissing and cuddling on camera, but nothing tacky.

Some of the Sherpalanders (especially Qiang) might have liked a little more time at home to relax with their families, but they were also looking forward to an exciting race weekend in Kardashia. Being so close to the championship meant there was a lot of pressure, but also a lot of excitement and a lot of pride in making it this far. Qiang and his pit crew were enjoying the cushy lodgings Mayhem had provided as part of the prize from the "Stock Car Studs" contest. Tsering had also flown out for the weekend, catching a flight Friday evening after her last class ended, but she kept a low profile. She was there for a sort of honeymoon and some quiet time with Qiang, not to be the center of a media feeding frenzy. Qiang's crew enthusiastically congratulated him on his marriage and prodded him with nosy questions like, "Who's better in bed, Tsering or Mendok?" or "How bad did Mendok slap you around while you were in Nanjing? Should we be worried about you passing out behind the wheel again?"

At practice, Qiang handed out pretty red and gold invitations inviting several people -- including all the drivers from the Sherpa Empire, Vangaziland, Vilita, Cassadaigua, Saint Kanye, and Valentine Z, plus a smattering of other miscellaneous drivers, pit staff, sponsor representatives, and his favorite media people -- to come to Nanjing at the end of the season and celebrate his marriage with Mendok and Tsering. He got some weird looks and he had to explain to some people that polygamy was allowed in some parts of the Sherpa Empire. The few reporters that got invitations were the classy ones that were least likely to turn the story into a massive scandal -- but that didn't mean the gossip rags wouldn't catch wind of it and go nuts.

When he went to give the Vangazi drivers their invitations he also took a moment to ask them if they were okay. They had really had a terrible season, and they weren't acting like themselves. They had been uncharacteristically withdrawn all year.

When he gave the Cassadagans their invitations, he brought Tsering along and hung back while she tapped them on the shoulder and handed them the invitation. He thought doing it that way made it look more like she was a respected partner, not a trophy that he planned to keep shut away somewhere.

Meanwhile, AutoModi's marketing people had caught on that Rinzi Zakhilwal was eager to do promotional events with Tashi because he was hot for her. They had noticed the way they looked at each other and the way they would clasp hands when they were working together. They knew that Rinzi and Tashi went out for dinner together after every one of their shared promotions. But the marketing people played dumb. As long as Rinzi and Tashi were disguising their love affair as an AutoModi marketing campaign, it kept them interested in doing promotional events.

Qiang had noticed their budding romance too, and he told Rinzi that he could bring Tashi to the wedding banquet if he wanted. "I'd love to go to that!" Tashi said cheerfully.

"I think we will both be coming," said Rinzi.

The Valentians – Qualifications @ Li River Speedway, Guilin, Guangxi Territory, The Sherpa Empire

The Valentians arrived at Sherpa Empire once again. It feels familiar, and yet, at the same time, new. They were greeted by a change of scenery, but the rather mystical nature of the place is still present, at least for them. Jolyn would helpfully point out on her phone that they were indeed in Guilin, a Guangxi Territory of the Sherpa Empire. The terraced hills are a constantly present sight, and even if for just a few days, the Valentians were happy that they would once again be living one step closer to nature.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: This place is fantastic! Ohh, how much time I will spend all alone taking photos if I have much more time!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Haha, you said it! Well, please don’t prank me again like last time! You really got me worried, Clarissa!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Aww, I won’t! I promise! ^^

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Haha, if you say so.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Well, on the bright side, the e-brochure and the websites didn’t say anything about weird springs this time. It’s only in Jusenkyo!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Then you guys cannot pull the same thing on me. I already got that knowledge, haha!

As they walked around the track, they realised that there are a lot of farmland in the place, and from the farms, would have a lot of curious villagers that have all their eyes fixated on the Valentian trio.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I will never get used to it. I swear, I don’t do so well and am uncomfortable when people are looking at me like that!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I would just let them look at me, haha! I mean, maybe they are just not used to seeing tall people now and then, you know?

They didn’t reserve any other special rooms, and instead simply opted for a normal one. However, the Valentians have requested that they get the lounges with the King-sized beds, given their sizes. For an average Valentian, they are too big for a queen-sized bed. With that settled in, just as the Valentians are about to make their way into their lounge, they heard some commotion happening around track. It seemed to involve something from the Team Hapilopper, as far as they were concerned.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Oh dear me, what happened?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I don’t know.. none of our business, I hope!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I think we should maybe try to give it a look. Maybe something interesting happened?

As they slowly walked and inched towards the lounge, they more or less found out what happened. They listened intensely for a few minutes, whilst keeping their distance. There also seemed to be a few NSSCRA officials around, taking note of the three tall Valentians that were taking interest in the matter, giving constant reminders to keep their distance as it’s not exactly their business.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: So, this guy… Drake, was trying to prank one of the drivers, and that device tripped the emergency broadcast systems?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Huh, sounds very, very unfortunate. I mean, I don’t really blame him. Who knew that something as trivial as that actually triggered the emergency systems of their country? Still, lucky for him, I guess?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Yeah, I heard that he’s only going for a small jailtime, or something.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: That seems a little excessive.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Then again, he did tripped the emergency systems, so I guess it was akin to misusing the emergency services. Though, not exactly on purpose.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Ah well, let’s hope that it was not us eventually. And take note from there, Clarissa! Negver take a prank too far and if you want to, be careful with that!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Haha, I understand!

After hearing enough, the three Valentians thanked the NSSCRA officials, and after it seemed to have died down a little, they waved at the Hapiloppians and wished them all the best with the qualifications and the race. It took them a while to get out of the small door, but they managed to, and then made their way to the lounge, only to be stopped by another person yet again, though for a more positive note.

It was none other than Kai Qiang himself, with red and gold invitation letters in his hands. He gave four of them to the Valentian drivers. There was one for Marcus, but he was currently in the lounge.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Oooh, awesome!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Nice! Thank you very much!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: [In Chinese] Why, thank you very much, my friend! And congratulations on your marriage! Oh, and no… we don’t find it weird. We just wish you a happy relationship! Oh, and I will be sure to give the extra letter to Marcus. Thank you for considering him as well, even if he only raced once!

After exchanging a few more words, the 4 Valentians then talked to each other.

Marcus Alan Ariel Baptiste Reynolds: So, they are getting married. Congratulations to them, haha! I am just very honoured that they also gave me the letter. I mean, I only went for one race!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Yeah, well, I’m gonna go, of course. Free your schedules up, people, because we will be going at the end of the season.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Sounds awesome, haha! Oooh, I bet they will all look gorgeous!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I’m in as well! Truly an honour to have people from other nations considering us as friends!

Marcus Alan Ariel Baptiste Reynolds: The dress code and all seems fine… but you know, just be careful of ourselves because we are too big!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Ahh, especially you, Gwen! Clarissa and the rest of us are 8 feet tall, which is slightly manageable. You? You’re 10-feet!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I bet I will get all the looks once I wear this! Can I wear this?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I think so…? No one said anything against that.

The Valentians – After Qualifications @ Li River Speedway, Guilin, Guangxi Territory, The Sherpa Empire

The qualifications came and went, after spending a hefty number of hours on the simulations. Jolyn was still worried with her own performance, but after trying out the simulation again and again, she felt a newfound sense of confidence, though not by a large margin. She felt that she might mess this one up, even if she never had a DNF before. Without a single DNF, along with a win and still being in the Chase, everyone, including Clarissa and Gwen, knew that Jolyn is relatively the best driver out of the three of them. They knew that she will make it, despite her being paranoid and cynical of her own results.

Clarissa, Jolyn, and Gwen placed 25th, 5th, and 2nd respectively.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Aww, well… this is going to be a little difficult, I see. Still, I believe that I can do it!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I don’t get it… I thought I was going to flop this one. And Gwen, I don’t want to jinx you, but what’s up with you?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Hmm, what about me?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Your qualifications, Gwen. For these past few races, you got fantastic and stellar qualification results, and when the actual racing day comes, you just sort of flopped it.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Ohhh that! Yeah, I have been seeing that a lot. I… I don’t know. Maybe lack of stamina or endurance?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: You need an AC in your car, just like me. Trust me, it works when the weather gets extremely tough, or you just want to be sheltered inside.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I will ask Jared about that later, thanks!

As the conversation went on and on, the Valentian trio, along with the rest of the crew, realised that the immediate vicinity around the track were crowded with vendors – lots and lots of street food and hawkers shouting out their best prices and offers. The food varies – from normal kebabs that one would expect, to dumplings, and to more exotic choices.

Jared Kev Jensen Benedict Angus: Wow, they all look tasty!

Jenny Claudia Sombra Linette Hoshiko: That’s all you thought of the whole time! How long have you been holding out?

Jared Kev Jensen Benedict Angus: Haha, I skipped breakfast this morning. Hey, I thought I can get by, but the qualifications lasted a little too long!

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: Ahh, never skip your breakfast, my friends.

Jared Kev Jensen Benedict Angus: Duly noted, Nurse!

As for the Valentian drivers, Clarissa went with basically anything that she can get, since her robot body has no concerns with what is healthy and what isn’t; Jolyn, went on to try small portions of nearly every vendor, buying in small quantities from each of them so that she could taste almost every single one of them. She found the mutton kebab to be the most delicious, as she commented to the others; Gwen, in the meanwhile, was a little picky, but she tried her best to try to be respectful of the other people’s cultures. After all, they all hail from Valentine Z, and nothing feels good than trying out the other culture. Though, this could still go off on the wrong foot if one eats a copious amount of food that does not agree with their stomach.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Well, I think I had enough! See you guys later at the lounge! I’m going to head back and have a rest. You know, feeling heavy from the food!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yeah, it was sooo delicious! But I’m gonna stay around for a while. So many sights to behold!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Sure thing! Stay out of trouble, please.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: You know I will, Jolyn!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: I’m joining you, Jolyn! See ya later, Gwen!

As Clarissa and Jolyn walked a few distances away from Gwen, who then went separately on her own way, Clarissa had a slightly evil face on her.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I don’t like that look, Clarissa… what the hell do you have in mind?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: [Smirking a little] See those roasted rats? I heard that Gwen hates rats. What do we say that we do a prank in the room?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I don’t know, Clarissa.. it won’t sound nice if Gwen exclaimed loudly that these roasted rats are disgusting. I mean, they might get offended for calling their food gross and all!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: True, but it will be within the lounge! No one will hear from us, except us!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Fair enough… Well, buy some, then! Oh and put it in an unmarked Styrofoam box! You know, element of surprise!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: You got it!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: At least I’m not the one being pranked.

-----

As the evening sets in, Gwen made her way back from all the sighting and adventures that she had, as well as trying her best to either ignore or smile sheepishly at all the villagers that were wondering about her 10-feet stature. She greeted Clarissa and Jolyn, who were already in the bedroom. Gwen, in the meantime, noticed a small Styrofoam box that was on a table.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Is that dinner? For me?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Hm hm, yeah! We bought some for you!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Aww, thanks!

As Gwen opened the box, Clarissa could not stop sniggering, but she tried her best to mute herself. Jolyn simply kept a straight face, pretending to not know anything, but she wanted to explode with hilarity inside. Gwen slowly opened the box, and by the time she saw it, she made this scream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUuXoQeBUCk

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: AAAAAHHHHH! What the bollocks is this??!

Clarissa simply broke into uncontrolled laughter, and Jolyn too, who then eventually joined her.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Hahaha, you should have seen the looks on your face!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Oh my goodness, rats! Whyyy, Clarissa??

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Haha, just a little prank from yours truly! Hey, I already did that to Jolyn previously, so… now it’s your turn!

Gwen simply shook her head, trying her best not to get humiliated or embarrassed by her own scream.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I hope no one heard it!

Just then, Germaine ran up the stairs.

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: Oh dear, I heard a scream! Everything in order, Gwen?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Ohh err, bluh… yeah, it’s fine! Just got pranked by Clarissa… Haha!

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: Ahh, Clarissa… you are so cute and mischievous! So, what did you do?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Roasted rats!

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: Oooh, those! Can I take a stick of it, Gwen? They are pretty delicious!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Err, help yourself!

Thanking Gwen, Germaine then took a stick of roasted rat and went back downstairs, taking a bite out of it as she went out.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Did she just eat that??

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Yeah, why not? These rats are a delicacy in this country, you know?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I know, I don’t want to sound insensitive, but… diseased rats?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I’m pretty sure they don’t pick any rats they found on the streets. Like maybe they breed these disease-free rodents like chickens, you know? Clarissa, do the honours!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Indeed, Jolyn! My scans show that these rats are disease free from the start… and with the temperatures of the roast, they are pretty darn clean and fine!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I’m glad for that! So err… thanks for buying it for me, and the prank. [She clutches her chest, feeling a little relieved but at the same time, still a little tense from being pranked] At least it didn’t cause a national outrage like what Drake did.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Haha, see? I know my limits, guys! So… wanna take a bite out of it?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I suppose so…

As Clarissa and Jolyn watched intensely, Gwen slowly took a nibble out of the stick of roasted rat, and tasting the bit of meat, she then found it to be rather delicious. Her expression went from disgust to satisfaction, and she started taking bigger bites.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Heyyyy, this ain’t so bad, after all! Wow, these are delicious!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Wow, would you look at that! A prank that actually worked and gave your tastebuds a ride!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: So… how does it taste like?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Pretty normal, actually… tasted like alligator. The aftertaste is not as strong, thank goodness.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: You have never eaten a rat, but you ate an ALLIGATOR before?!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Err, it was for some dinner function! They have it as part of the meal! I gave it a try, you know? Hey, at least they didn’t serve snakes.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Oh goodness, no… anything BUT snakes!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: I would still eat it, haha!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: [At the same time] Clarissa, no!
Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: [At the same time] Clarissa, no!

As Gwen got a newfound taste and hunger for rat meat, the three of them laughed and talked it out for the rest of the night until they finally fall asleep. One thing is for sure, that they can all agree (at least, Jolyn and Gwen can), that nothing can be worse than snake meat.

The Valentians – Actual Race @ Li River Speedway, Guilin, Guangxi Territory, The Sherpa Empire

The next day, the three Valentians woke up, and the first thing that Jolyn started feeling was the sore back that she got herself into. It did not turn out that well last night, as whilst Clarissa would be sleeping on her own bed, Gwen and Jolyn had a sleep-fight.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: We really, really need to talk about your sleeping habits.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I know, Jolyn! I’m so sorry about last night. ><

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Hey, look on the bright side. At least you were trying to control it, and you didn’t kick or elbow me in the face… Sigh, I really need a King-sized bed.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Would be great if we can bring our own mattress, but that’s big enough!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Wait a minute… that gives me an idea. Why not we just sleep in the trailers? Like, if Marcus is not going to race any time soon, we can convert his car’s trailer into a sleeping quarters!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: That actually sounds like a great idea. We should tell them that later!

As the conversation went on and they have had their breakfast, they made their way to their vehicles, which were being finalised and finishing touches and tunes done by Jared and the Valentian crew.

Jared Kev Jensen Benedict Angus: All set, ladies! Good luck! And hey, Jolyn… don’t sweat it, you can do it.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Thanks, Jared. Ugh, I really hate the road courses. I mean, you saw the layout, right? It’s so… convoluted!

Jared Kev Jensen Benedict Angus: Yup! I’m more surprised that they can squeeze this course in, you know? All around the farmland. It would make for quite a good scenery, I imagine.

And soon, it was time for them to go. The Valentians pushed their vehicles accordingly to their qualified positions, and they did a little rolling start from a few seconds away from the starting line.

Announcer: Andddd they are away! Good luck, ladies and gentlemen!

Exuberant Superintendent T-1000/2904 Surveillant Clarissa Alanis Star Breya « La Amoureux Chéri » Millie Taissa Butterfly Mélody Coraline Jolijn Trini Clementine Hollie Samantha Zeta Harumi: The race went pretty well for me, to be honest. 2nd segment and 4th segment was pretty difficult for me, and these were the times when I have suffered some loss of traction with the tires. That resulted in me, err, having to slow down a little, and that alone was more than enough to cause a loss of positions. I have to say, these people are doing greater than ever! I would praise them for it, but at the same time, I have to make sure that I am training and practicing more with the simulations, or the data that I have!

Vice Foresittend Jolyn Maxine Caulfield Moira “Неуловимый, Женщина-шпион” Marlene Wendy Lucille Lapis Jill Khorosheva Vin. Zolina łnt. Natasha Vasilisa Helen Ceeta Tescelyn Maximovna: The qualifications are okay… and… sigh, then comes the race! The flipping race! You can tell that a person messed up just by looking at the expression, and if you were there, you would have noticed that I was freaking out the entire time. I think I should have been calmer, and goodness, I really tried to. But no… just no, I simply cannot get good with all these tracks! I hate the idea of racing in a road course, so I am glad that Valentijn took it out in favour of a speedway when we told him that a road course might not be such a good idea. I am glad that we dodged a bullet back in our own host country, so… there is that from me! Oh and yeah, Gwen, please stop assaulting me in your sleep! I managed it rather well, but the backpain that I got from the you the previous night? I personally think that it hindered me.

Chief Aviator Gwen Tracer Hepburn “Fate of Existence and the Omniverse” Ellen Trixie Caitlin Foxworthy Avril Verlene Eveline Celinda Sammy Doris Wit. Oxton Arielle Lindall Leslie Vitesse Allison: Haha, it could have been better, I feel. I mean, I know I did rather well in the end, but I feel like I could have done more in the middle, you know? The qualifications are clear as day that I got the potential to win the race, and I got until the second segment with a 3rd. Andddd that happened. Yep, I hit a few walls and slowed down considerably, down to 28th. Then I regained to 6th by the time the 4th segment rolls around, only to go back to 25th. I seriously don’t know what I am doing, though I would like to think that Jolyn might be up to something when she said that she hates road courses.

The Valentians – After Race @ Li River Speedway, Guilin, Guangxi Territory, The Sherpa Empire

The three Valentians, along with a couple of others, went out for dinner as per usual. The dining place is a small family-run restaurant, it seems, with decorations fitting the homely feel, and all the food served looking like something that is home-cooked. The Valentians had a few conversations among themselves during the dinner. Charmaine also gave a call to a few of the peeps.

Marcus Alan Ariel Baptiste Reynolds: I have to admit, you all did well! Just that the condition and the nature of the course, and your bad experiences, had you guys pretty badly.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yeah, I know…

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I really WISH that we don’t have road courses anymore… Wait, no. We have one more, in Jebslund!

-----

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: So, how was the food, Gwen?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: The rats? Well, pretty decent, all things considered. How about you?

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: Pretty decent! I think we should have that in our menu sometimes… not all the time, but maybe just a selection of it for special days.

Jenny Claudia Sombra Linette Hoshiko: Haha, wait… do you think Lhotse Love sells rats as well? I didn’t mean it in a derogatory manner.

Adriana Krystal Desiree Kowalski Faith Stanisława: Oooh, that will be lovely if they provide those too! I love the Sherpa cuisine as well!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Here’s a little drink, for helping Gwen get a new taste of food, and also thanks to Clarissa for pranking and keeping the mood light, but not pranking too much.

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: Woo-hoo, Prost! And also, please don’t drink too much.

-----

Angela Stella Trista Tan Fang Ling: So, have you heard about those guys from Lhotse Love yet, Charmaine?

Charmaine Marissa Hannah Vera Teresa: [On phone] Nah, not yet. I already sent an email with Jolyn’s permission, but nothing yet.

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: [On phone] Eh, it’s fine. Keep us updated!

-----

Kendrick Elliott Quinton Øistein Andres: You heard about those Newark people?

Augustine Lorenzo Terry Vinto Stefano: Oh, Dios, what about them?

Kendrick Elliott Quinton Øistein Andres: Apparently, Kohan, their driver, got banned from here, and Jebslund as well.

Augustine Lorenzo Terry Vinto Stefano: Haha, no shit! They had it coming.

Kendrick Elliott Quinton Øistein Andres: Not sure about Jebslund, though… I mean, that’s what I heard.

Klarke Ray Zane Kourtney Nico Zahirović: Most very likely true. I can’t blame them for being careful.

Marcus Alan Ariel Baptiste Reynolds: I have my sympathies to the rest of the Newark racers, though. They just want to race, and they get hit with political drama.

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: Yeah, that is true.

Kendrick Elliott Quinton Øistein Andres: The funniest thing is, they interfered in things that they did not even concern them.

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: Diplomacy 101: Never fire a round, even as a warning, in foreign territories.

-----

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: I heard that you were out of the Chase, I am so sorry to hear that, Jolyn.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Ehh, it’s all right. I mean, considering that I, Clarissa, and Gwen made it this far, I’m already more than happy.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yeah, that’s true! For a bunch of first-time rookies? We did pretty great!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Though, yeah, I am a tad disappointed at myself. If it was not a road course, I could have gotten something more.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Wait for the next season, then!

-----

After having their hearty dinner and conversations, the Valentians made their way slowly to their lounge, some of them having much more drinks than others. Clarissa and Jolyn babied Gwen back to the lounge as she slowly limped, with Germaine trying her best to give her healing with her medical staff. Jolyn had her own share of drink, but she either has the reservations, or that she did not show it.

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: Well, Gwen really, really let herself go!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: She’s a bit of a lightweight. Can’t handle booze too well.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: BAHHH HAHAHA SHUT IT, JOSEPH! I CAN HANDLE IT!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Gwen, shush! You will wake everyone up!

Marcus Alan Ariel Baptiste Reynolds: Who the hell is Joseph?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Josephhhhh… he’s my little gnome friend from another world.

Marcus Alan Ariel Baptiste Reynolds: A… gnome?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Hey, she travelled through universes before, so she might be saying it truthfully… or she’s just drunk. Hard to tell.

Marcus Alan Ariel Baptiste Reynolds: Haha, fair enough.

Next Round Begins,
by Stacie Houston- Driver

As you know, the next round of the playoffs begins at the Kardashia Auto Ring for the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 in Saint Kanye. Naturally, there is a lot excitement for the race here not only because the best drivers in the world will be hitting track, nor because it is a playoff race. They are thrilled to have three of their own drivers, Jeremiah Brooke, Skip Stiller, and Thea Alvarez still alive. In fact, all three of them had a particularly strong second round so naturally everyone associated with Glorious Free Republic Motorsports has to be feeling good about where they are situated.

For myself, I am happy that the Five Star Mobile Blaze is still alive and with a chance to win our second consecutive title even with a second round that was decent but not good enough if we are going to get that title. In qualifying, we put together a great lap, and will start on the outside pole, beside Team Blue’s Chris Holmes. Chris had a great rookie season, but was not able to advance into this round. This does not mean that he or any of the other non-Chasers will be any less strong or competitive. We have already seen during this chase several non-Chasers pick up wins, including the Pink Love Blaze of Jenna Logan. So far, if you look at the performances of those in the Chase, there is no let up. Everyone is finishing and getting results, and there have been some drivers that are eliminated who actually performed well, on an individual level, in the round that they were eliminated in. As we begin the round that determine the final four, people will look at me as a favorite to advance, since I have already done so twice in my career. It’s a stat that I am proud of, but it will not mean anything now. All of the drivers still alive are just as experienced at this time. Even a rookie like Rinzi in the #06 is wise behind his years and cannot be counted out. I look forward to the race!

Her response to the wedding invitation: “I would be honored to be a part of the ceremony. I will be there, and I know that both Meghan and Jenna will be there as well. Kai Qiang is a great man who works hard and races people clean while maintaining a high competitive spirit. Thank you for the invite, I will be there!”

Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400, Kardashia Autoring, Kardashia, Saint Kanye :: After hitting a lull in form at the end of the NSSCRA Regular Season, it seemed as if Team Tropicorp had perhaps missed their chance to get to victory lane for the first time in a points paying NSSCRA event. However, during the Round of 12 of the NSSCRA Chase Playoffs it was the non chase drivers who stole the show with race victories in Xanneria and Hampton Island stealing race victories from Playoff drivers with major implications on the Round of 8 Field.

At the Shellshock Batteries 400 it was the day the Cocoabo would finally break through with no excuses about Exhibition races or other factors taking away from their achievement. It was a pair of Cocoabo, Cocoabo #78 and Cocoabo #28 working together head to head against the powerhouses of the NSSCRA. After bypassing the dominant car on the day, Centur Tiones in the #2 Tiones Lumber Dart for Vilita and Turori Motorsports, Team Tropicorp's Cocoabo outpaced the Glorious Free Republic Motorsports duo of Skip Stiller and Jeremiah Brooke to take the checkered flag in a Chase event. While none of Team Tropicorp's drivers qualified for the Playoff Chase round the fact that they were able to beat Chase drivers in the Playoff round to secure their first points paying victory will give the team added confidence that while they may not have achieved their goal of qualifying for the playoff chase during NSSCRA Season 8, they are well positioned to make a run at the Playoff places during NSSCRA Season 9.

Moving on from the excitement of becoming the first Cocoabo to take the checkers at the top level of a motorsports discipline - perhaps on par with Cocoabo #23's success at the World Grand Prix 2 level, Cocoabo #78 has continued to run strong after finding their mojo once more in Hampton Island. Now, Team Tropicorp's lead Cocoabo will roll off the grid in the fourth position for the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 as they look to claim their third victory of the season.

Of course, while the Cocoabo will be under the spotlight in Saint Kanye, Team Tropicorp will also expect a large attendance at the Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge fan zone event which always draws a large participation in Saint Kanye. The Yeezies often queue up for hours in the morning to get their shot at setting the days records and earning special edition Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge prize packs each time a new fast time is set. There will be two concurrent Tire Changing stations as well as a newly introduced full pit stop station where fans can enter together with a group of up to 7 of their friends to set a Team score.

Image
Individual Skill Stations:

The tire changing station consists of a full nose clip of an NSSCRA Stock Car and participants will start from the drivers side of the 'vehicle', run across to the right side and complete the removal and replacement of lug nuts. Then, they will have to return to the left side of the 'vehicle' and do the same for the other tire and finish their run by pushing the large button on the ground next to this tire. This station will be timed.

The fueling station will consist of the rear clip of an NSSCRA Stock Car and participants will be responsible for transferring a full load of fuel using two pre-loaded cans. Participants will start with one fuel can in hand and will be timed through setting the second can down. If the fuel cans are not empty the competitor will receive a time penalty adjusted for the percentage of 'fuel' delivered.

The Jacking station consists of a full size Team Tropicorp NSSCRA Stock Car Replica. Participants must jack each side of the car high enough to lift both tires off the ground. Pressure plates below each tire will have an indicator to determine when the Tires are fully off the ground. At that point the Participant would go to the other side and Jack once more. Once the Tires are lifted, the Jack is released and the pressure plates will sense the car stopping the clock.

At the Repairs and Adjustment Kiosk, fans will learn how to make Adjustments on the fly including adding or removing tape from the nose of a car, removing windshield tear offs, adding spring rubbers and ensuring that none of the vehicle bodywork is rubbing onto a tire.

At the inspection Kiosk, fans will be given the chance to review up to 10 Pitstops and identify any infractions or errors including Loose Lugnuts, pitting outside the box, crew members entering the box too soon, a summary of repairs or adjustments and number of crew members over the wall. Participants can receive a score based on the number of correct assessments.

NSSCRA: KARDASHIA RACE UPCOMING; YEEZIES EXCITED
GFR brings five cars; Tropicorp Challenge returns

by Maria Muller

KARDASHIA - The third round of the Chase in the eighth season of the NSSCRA (Nationstates Stock Car Racing Association) kicks off in the bright lights of Kardashia, St. Kanye, for the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400. It will be the very first event, local or international, to be held at the Kardashia Autoring that was just finished last year, although GFR has used the track to practice before the NSSCRA season has started. (OOC: The track record of 35.716 seconds was set by Stiller in these practice sessions.) Needless to say, thousands of Kanyeans will be packing the stands of the 2.25-mile track, with millions more watching at home, whether on television or online.

Fittingly for the name of the race, it will feature a whopping seven cars made by Chadwick Motors Inc. Local team Glorious Free Republic Motorsports will have their three full-time drivers, all participating in the Chase: Skip Stiller in the #3 sponsored by QED Car Rentals, Jeremiah Brooke in the #18 with Hyde Medical Group colors, and Thea Alvarez's #46 with backing from Multiversal Automotive Coatings. GFR will also have two part-timers using the two open charters, Sage Caldwell in the #19 Blood Moon Beer machine and Philip West in the #01 factory-sponsored vehicle. Direwolf Auto Team from neighboring New Northwesteros had both of their Chadwicks qualify: Paul Nystrom in the #21 Argoil car and Sherpa-born Liuyong Xu in the #99 Prime Insurance machine.

"This is going to be big for us, not just the race, but also the entire round", said Brooke, who starts eighth. "All three of us [GFR full-timers] are in, and we hope to keep it that way until the end. I'm glad that I'll be able to surpass last season's [twelfth place]points finish no matter what, but a return trip to the Championship Four [after two seasons] would be sweeter, and a title even more so." Alvarez added, "I sure hope I don't let this crowd down, they're here for us, and we're here for them." The young Yeezie driver will start twenty-first. "I think I'm gonna need some help and our experience here in practice to be able to have a good finish."

Starting on pole for the event is the #81 factory-sponsored Preston of Chris Holmes. There were many things going on with Team Blue, the Hapiloppian rookie's stable, during the past week. Holmes finished just twenty-third in last week's Guangxi Telecom 400 in the Sherpa Empire, causing him to fall short and not be part of the eight Chasers advancing to the third round. Also in that race, veteran Chet Byrd retired, not only from the race, but also from international and presumably local competition. Taking his seat in the #73 will be Juracai Klianiota, who last drove for Vilita & Turori Motorsports in the strike-shortened fifth NSSCRA season. Frank Bronson, their third full-timer, announced a car number switch from his usual #37 to the #8 previously held by the now-defunct team from the Communist Union of B (possibly starting next week, as his car still bore the former number in qualifying), while team consultant and part-time driver Drake Stevenson has been imprisoned for twenty-four hours in his home country after a failed prank has inadvertently caused a Hapilopper-wide panic.

Stiller commented, "I'm sorry to hear about what happened to Drake. I'm sure he didn't mean to do what he ended up doing, but the law is the law, and the consequences just came. As for Byrd, he was a great guy, and was able to perform despite his age. I'll never forget our battle at the end of the Pencurve [where Stiller and Byrd finished 1-2], and I wish him luck in his post-NSSCRA career. As for Holmes, it'll be fine, he still has lots of years left in him to compete and maybe do better. Also, I look forward to racing with Klianiota. I prepared myself by watching his old tapes. Boy, finding footage of that fifth season was a real drag."

The Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge will make a return to the race weekend, to the delight of the fans. During the Pencurve Electronics 500 race weekend two months ago, the Kanyeans have been known to camp out at the Jalton Superspeedway grounds to get their passes early; the same level of enthusiasm is likely to be expected here. The Challenge will introduce a new team category in Kardashia, and it is geared to be one of the highlights of the race's side event, especially as a celebrity team has announced their participation.

All qualifying sessions and races will be broadcast live on SKYNET Sports Channel 12, and online at nsscra.skynet.stk.

Upon receiving the invitation for Qiang's wedding, Alvarez told him, "Sure! I'll come! Best wishes to you and your wife!"
"Wives", Brooke corrected her. "Sherpaland allows polygamy, doesn't it? Anyway. Qiang, you can also expect your old pal Jeremiah to be there. You want my potato salad? I'll bring my potato salad."
"Make that three", added Stiller. "I'll bring my wife too. Do Sage and Philip have invites too? I'm just gonna hand it to them, they just went out somewhere."

Mayhem made a call to Zakhilwal, congratulating him on being the eighth NSSCRA season's Rookie of the Year. They offered to extend their sponsorship of him in the league until next season, with possibility of extension, as well as a separate deal to also sponsor him in IRACT, also with possibility of extension.

SKYNET reporter Alita Richfield has been medically cleared, and will hop into A7DXZ5 for the entirety of the 400. With cameras attached inside the vehicle and in her helmet. The channel's broadcast of the race will include some footage and commentary from her point of view, and a complete stream will be posted online.

Round of 8 Preview - Kardashia Autoring

VTM Looking for first Chase victory in Saint Kanye

Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400, Kardashia Autoring, Kardashia, Saint Kanye :: With just three races left before the Season Finale at the Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, Vilita and Turori Motorsports have most decidedly been behind the eight ball ever since the NSSCRA Playoffs began failing to win a single event during the Round of 16 or the Round of 12 for the first time in the teams history. Yraaga Gilli'i has led all drivers during the NSSCRA Regular Season with three race victories in the #41 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart but backed their way into the Round of 8 along with teammate River 'Shark' Suzgar II as the 7th and 8th placed drivers to advance into the playoffs penultimate round.

The sudden lack of speed came at a bad time for the Rockii Coast, Vilita based team but none suffered more than driver of the #2 Tiones Lumber Dart, Centur Tiones. Tiones had actually shown perhaps more speed than any of the Vilita and Turori Motorsports drivers during the Round of 12 coming close to winning the Shellshock Batteries 400 in Hampton Island before being passed late in the race by the tag-teaming duos from Glorious Free Republic Motorsports and Team Tropicorp. A lack of consistency however saw Tiones on the outside looking in while teammates Gilli'i and Suzgar survived for the second consecutive season to the Round of 8. During NSSCRA Season 6, Suzgar was the only Vilita and Turori Motorsports driver to make the playoff chase while only Suzgar and Gilli'i advanced to the playoffs at all during NSSCRA Season 7. During the Round of 8 last season it was Tiones who found themselves to Victory Lane - having twice in their career recorded playoff round victories while not being a part of the Chase field. Gilli'i and Suzgar were left to battle it out for the last spot in the Championship Four which Gilli'i narrowly eeked out ending Suzgar's reign. Gilli'i nearly claimed the Championship finishing runner-up in the Proving Grounds 500 to the crowned champion Stacie Houston of Team Cassadaigua.

The competition is just as stiff during NSSCRA Season 8 and there will be no guarantee of going through on points so it is likely one if not both of Vilita and Turori Motorsports drivers will have to rely on navigating themselves to victory lane in Saint Kanye, Jebslund or Vangaziland in order to secure a spot in the Championship Four. With teammate Tiones having the best notes on the team at the two tracks that the NSSCRA has visited before it is likely that the #2 will serve as a setup perfecting test machine for the team at both tracks.

Suzgar's struggles have continued at the Kardashia Autoring where the #14 Vilitan Tourism Dart could only place 20th in the Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Qualifying round. While Suzgar's qualifying run was far from the worst among Chase drivers - with Glorious Free Republic Motorsports' Skip Stiller starting the race from the 37th position at their home track, The majority of the Chase field would be in front of the #14 Dart when the green flag dropped in Saint Kanye. Leading the way would be defending champion #27 Stacie Houston who qualified on the outside pole position alongside Team Blue's Chris Holmes and just ahead of Suzgar's teammate #41 Yraaga Gilli'i. While Gilli'i would certainly have circled the South Stead race weekend in Vangaziland as their best event in the round, Gilli'i has demonstrated an incredible evolution in talent during NSSCRA Season 8 having graduated from being the series' Short Track expert to a well rounded driver capable of winning on all types of circuits.

Just four of the Championship 8 were able to qualify inside the Top 15 with The Sherpa Empire's #06 Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal the now-runaway Rookie of the Season driver in 5th and Jeremiah Brooke, the highest qualifying local driver, in eighth position. There will be five Yeezie drivers in the field with Philip West back in action with a strong qualifying run right behind the #73 Team Blue Skychief being driven for the first time by Juracai Klianiota. The former World Grand Prix Championship driver will be making their first stock car appearance since NSSCRA Season 5 and has shown thus far that they haven't lost a step by qualifying inside the Top 10. Team Blue have been in the news lately with team consultant Drake Stevenson's issues, former driver Chet Byrd's decision to retire mid-race in The Sherpa Empire and the decision to change the car number of Frank Bronson from #37 to #8 which, while has yet to be executed is believed to be in the works such that the Hapilopper team can get a head start on merchandising for NSSCRA Season 9. Not to be left out, Chris Holmes who was eliminated from the playoff Chase following the race at the Li River Speedway decided to make their own news by sitting on the Pole Position in Saint Kanye.

Of course, one fan watching the news surrounding Frank Bronson closely will be the fan who posted a rumor that Vilita and Turori Motorsports would be fielding a car for journeyman driver Jama'obo Pegasii during the NSSCRA season. With no formal announcements having been made it is likely that if Pegasii was to drive this season it would likely come at the
Gryphon Supermarket 250 in South Stead
. Pegasii who has completed partial seasons in various Motorsports discipline throughout the multiverse, competed in seven events during the NSSCRA's sixth season with a best finish of 5th place coming in South Stead. It is also a race designated for River 'Shark' Suzgar to be sponsored by Toys '4' All which may make it more appealing for Pegasii's personal sponsor Vilaye Energy Drink to get a fully sponsored car in that event. Pegasii has regularly used car #12 and car #37 in competition, both of which are currently taken in NSSCRA though the #37 may be opening up soon if Bronson makes the switch to the #8. Otherwise, it is likely that Pegasii would opt for the #87.

Kardashia Autoring, Kardashia, Saint Kanye
Race Weekend
The situation at Team Blue was about as fluid as anything could be at this time. In between the Guangxi Telecom 400 in the Sherpa Empire and the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 in Saint Kanye, a few things had happened with the team, so let’s catch up. At least, however, things were starting to look clearer. Following the sudden retirement of Chet Byrd, team owner Ken Henson had started to take a serious look inward, and in a meeting the day before Team Blue left Hapilopper for the race weekend, told Amanda McAlister, his daughter and potential new team boss, that he would be seriously considering her offer at taking the team over.

“But can you give me until the end of next week to give you an answer?” Ken told Amanda.

“Sure, I don’t need an answer now,” she replied. “Still a lot of time to go to the start of the next fiscal year.”

The car number swap
While all that was going on, the team had received a notice that they would have to pay a $25,000 processing fee – or as Frank Bronson called it, “an inconvenience charge,” to change the number of Frank’s car from 37 to 8. The number swap was part of a deal with the crew from Vilita and Turori, which brought Juracai Klianiota to the 73 seat to replace Chet, who, to say the least, had “more than my fill of stupidity for one lifetime,” as he put it to one reporter after announcing his sudden retirement.

The team was more than happy to pay the processing fee. Team Blue had run the #8 in HASCAR for decades, and ironically enough, was Chet’s car number for years. Fans in Hapilopper associated Team Blue with car #8 as much as #81, so the $25,000 fee was just a small price to pay to bring back a familiar number to Hapilopper’s de facto racing team.

Fans in Hapilopper hung on to motorsport merchandise for a very long time, so merchandise carrying a Team Blue #8 was still just as popular as anything else. The number swap just made sense.

According to some reports, the team hadn’t gotten the number 8 as another team from the Communist Union of B had picked up the number before the team could take it. (OOC: Actually, I didn’t register the number 8 beforehand because I figured someone else had been using it beforehand.)

Drake Stevenson in the pokey
As soon as the Team Blue Shuttle got back from the Sherpa Empire, an officer with the Hapilopper City Police Department picked Drake up, to take him before a judge to face charges of inciting a panic by accidentally misusing the national Emergency Warning System in an attempted prank of Chris Holmes. Pranking someone wasn’t a crime in Hapilopper (otherwise, everyone at Team Blue would have been executed a long time ago), but pranking someone with the Emergency Warning System, or misusing that system in any way, was a crime.

“Mr. Stevenson, you are charged with one count of inciting a mass panic via misuse of emergency materials,” said Judge Arch Brannon of the Hapilopper City Superior Court. “How do you plead?”

“Not guilty by reason of stupidity?” Drake said, thinking that was a thing.

The bailiff, the arresting officer and Brannon looked at Drake like that was the dumbest thing they had heard all day. In fact, the arresting officer wanted to backhand Drake, but the bailiff took one look at him, chuckled and shook his head.

“Mr. Stevenson, that may be a thing on ‘Idiots Court,’ but it’s not a thing here!” Brannon said. “Idiots Court,” of course, was a very popular sitcom on Venerable Television that featured the stupidest criminals being taken in for, well, the stupidest reasons.

Drake realized he had messed up, and very quickly pleaded “guilty,” and then went into serve his 24 hours in jail. When he got out of jail, he realized he had some messages that he had to answer. The first ones were from the gang from Saint Kanye – Skip Stiller, Sage Caldwell and Philip West, who apologized profusely for the prank going wrong. Immediately, Drake sent them a message stating that they had nothing to apologize for, because they had done nothing wrong.

“I think the best thing I can say in this situation is ‘shit happens,’” Drake wrote in his message. “Sometimes things go wrong. That’s just the way it goes. You guys don’t need to do anything for me and you don’t need to apologize, because you did nothing wrong.”

The second message was from a good friend from high school, Pat Nye, who had been a foreign exchange student from another country in Atlantian Oceania. Pat was coming to Hapilopper the next weekend to meet up with some friends and wanted to know if Drake could make the trip.

“Well, hell YES I’ll come!” Drake wrote in a message to Pat.

It became apparent that Drake would have to miss the upcoming Die Landschaftlich Schöne Strecke in Jebslund in order to see his friend, and he would have to go on a six-hour car trip to Kingsland to see him. Small price to pay. Drake hadn’t seen his friend in years and wanted to pay him a visit.

A wedding invitation makes its way into the Team Blue Center, causing a bit of an awkward moment
As the gang from Team Blue had lunch early on in race weekend in Saint Kanye, Frank Bronson walked into the Team Blue Center carrying a beautiful red and gold envelope.

“Hey, check this out! Kai Qiang gave me this,” Frank said with a smile on his face. “It’s a wedding invitation. He’s getting married!”

“Who’s he getting married to?” Drake Stevenson asked as he put down a sandwich.

“Let’s see… someone named Mendok and someone named Tsering, I think,” Frank said.

“Wow!” Drake exclaimed, a huge smile cracking over his face. “Two people? That’s impressive! How does he do that?”

“I don’t know, but this looks like they’ve got a great thing planned. I’ll ask my wife if she wants to go,” Frank said. “She likes going to new and exotic places, so this will be exciting for her.”

Chris Holmes, meanwhile, looked around awkwardly. He had not been invited, and hearing Drake and Frank discuss Kai’s wedding so openly just seemed kind of mean to him.

“Can I be a guest of yours?” Chris asked.

“What, did Kai not give you one?”

“No.”

“Damn it, Holmes, you know why Kai didn’t invite you,” Frank said. “I’m not going to have you come along as a guest, because I don’t want him mad at me. If he didn’t invite you, you’re not coming. Drake, you want to join me?”

“Fuck no,” Drake said. “I hate weddings. I think Holmes and I will spend that weekend getting drunk at my apartment. I mean, Kai’s a good dude and shit, but I think weddings are depressing. I’d rather get some beers with my boy Holmes.”

“Good dude?” Chris asked. “He wanted to kill me and he doesn’t want to speak to me.”

“Because you put an iguana in his car, you dippy!” Drake replied, the volume of his voice increasing a tiny bit. “I think I’d be pissed too if some live animal started clawing at me. Yikes!”

Chet Byrd’s week
All had been quiet for the now-retired Chet Byrd since something clicked in his head and decided to just up and retire in the middle of the race in the Sherpa Empire. This isn’t to say people had just ignored him. Crew members, journalists and even some of his fellow drivers had asked him about the sudden decision. The first from another land was Kai Qiang, who, upon seeing Chet after the race, asked him if he was OK.

“I’m fine, Kai, and thank you,” Chet responded. “You know, you drive for the same team for over 30 years and then everything comes apart at the seams. I’ve had to deal with more bullshit in the last few weeks than I’ve had to deal with in the last 40 years put together. I’m done with it. I’m too old for this shit.”

Not surprisingly, Chet didn’t travel with Team Blue for race weekend in Saint Kanye. While the rest of Team Blue – Drake, Chris, Frank, Juracai and the like, spent the weekend in the NSSCRA circus, Chet had a quiet weekend at home. The NSSCRA race wasn’t on television at the Byrd house. Instead, he listened to some old rock music, lit a cigar, poured himself a glass of 30-year old whiskey, and sat by the edge of the pool. It was a great opportunity for him to think about what had happened.

There were no cheers from a crowd. There was no loud noise from an engine. It was some old music, and that was it. Chet had been competitive to the end of his career, and that’s more than a lot of people could say. He thought about an offer that had been presented to him by Amanda McAlister about him becoming the Team Consultant for next season. He didn't want to get involved again in any sort of political pettyness, and he didn't really want to travel with a racing series for at least year. He just wanted to stay home for a bit and just relax.

NSSCRA: #44 LOCKED INTO CHAMPIONSHIP 4
Qiang wins at Kardashia; GFR's round starts roughly

by Ray Wright

KARDASHIA - Last week, at the Guangxi Telecom 400 at the Li River Speedway in Guilin, the Sherpa Empire, Kanyean NSSCRA (Nationstates Stock Car Racing Association) driver Skip Stiller grabbed his third victory of the season, getting past hometown bet and polesitter Kai Qiang late in the race. Qiang was later overheard telling reporters "We'll just win the next one", referring to this week's event, the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 at the Kardashia Autoring right here in St. Kanye. Well, a win for the Sherpa driver would vault him into the Championship Four, the first time his country will be represented in that stage of the tournament. Knowing the importance of this, Qiang pulled out all the stops, stayed true to his word, and evened out the score with Stiller by winning in the latter's homeland.

Qiang and the #44 Khamdo Electronics TMW beat out a fellow Chaser, Vilita & Turori Motorsports' River Suzgar in the #14 Dart, to the line by about a car length. Once again, the non-playoff drivers would come out strong, with Valentian rookie Gwen Tracer Allison and her #31 T. Racer Holdings Eveline filling out the podium at third. Fourth was Qiang's teammate Dinggu Wang, who was eliminated in the first round, in the #79 Chirpy Chhurpi TMW, followed by Cassadagan non-Chaser Jenna Logan in the #11 Pink Love Clothing Blaze. Chris Holmes, who bowed out in the second round, was sixth in the #81 factory-sponsored Preston for Hapilopper's Team Blue. Rounding out the top ten were Rockii Ezis in the #48 CoCoCo Rocket for Newmanistan's Rocket Motorsports, Centur Tiones in the #2 Tiones Lumber Dart for VTM, Clarissa Alanis Star, another Valentian, in the #7 Lhotse Love/Isalov Industries Eveline, and Bryan Harrison, Ezis' teammate, in the #5 factory-sponsored Rocket.

Stiller settled for just twelfth in his #3 QED Car Rentals Chadwick, the highest finish for both his country and manufacturer. "Definitely not how I or anyone else on the team wanted to start this round", he said. "This has gotta be the worst time to get a bad finish - in the round before the Championship Four, and at a home race at that." While Stiller managed to grab a top fifteen finish, his full-time teammates weren't so fortunate. Both the #46 Multiversal Automotive Coatings car of Thea Alvarez and the #18 Hyde Medical Group machine of Jeremiah Brooke finished outside the top twenty, at twenty-second and twenty-fifth respectively. Both were among those collected during the multi-car crash on Lap 54, when Northwesterosi Paul Nystrom (#21) gave Vannish Kev Schorebrook (#25) a nudge, causing him to go high up the track. Kev's teammate Ellie Lindskog (#50) inadvertently hit his back bumper, and the latter spun right into the path of Esmerelian David Rockingham (#82). Rockingham's car slid down the track, just as the pack was arriving behind him. Both Brooke and Alvarez were able to dodge, but the former was hit in the passenger side by the #4 of Cassadagan Meghan Sharpe, while the latter took the outside and scraped the wall. Later, the two Yeezies would pit, but not at the same time, and fall behind, only to climb back to mid-pack near the end.

Alvarez told the Kibitzer, "We were so happy coming into this race, hoping for a good performance, but when we came out, it's really not the same. I apologize to all the fans for letting them down. Congratulations to Qiang, though. He's a friend. I hope we bounce back in the next two races and join him in Tundra Falls [Newmanistan, site of the season finale]. Brooke said, rather optimistically, "The other Chasers were able to build up a lead on us, and the probability of us advancing just decreased. But it hasn't hit zero yet. Anything can happen in the next two races. Just gotta make up those lost points by working on a good performance. A win wouldn't be out of the question, we just gotta work harder for it."

Part-timers Sage Caldwell and Philip West were further behind the field, the former's #19 Blood Moon Beer vehicle being the last car on the lead lap at twenty-seventh, and the latter's #01 factory-sponsored Chadwick being thirty-first, two laps down. Right between them, at twenty-ninth, was the #55 vehicle, Wagensvolk's A7DXZ5. However, due to the country's restrictions on self-driving vehicles, it was occupied by SKYNET reporter Alita Richfield during the race. "That was quite the experience", said Richfield. "Now I understand better the situation that the NSSCRA drivers are in. It was tiring, but exciting at the same time. As for the car, I'd say it was programmed well. Not the fastest, but hey, it beat out lots of other racers. It made the right moves to avoid that big crash, and had a clean race overall. If anyone's asking if my experience would want me to call for the legalization of autonomous vehicles in St. Kanye, I say no comment, though."

The Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge side event was also a huge success, with not only Kanyean but also foreign race fans flocking to the booths to register. Marinette Harbaugh, the Kanyean who was part of Euroli Islander's pit crew in the Tropicorp 500, won the fueling category and finished second to fellow countryman Roger Fenty in the inspection category. The winning tire changer was Esmerelian, the jacking station champ was Xannerian, while the repairs/adjustment first placer was Northwesterosi. St. Kanye's all-celebrity team also won the team category of the Challenge, with second place honors going to a team from the University of Kardashia, while third was an all-female Cassadagan team. "This is a fun way to engage with fans", said actress Carmen Rodrick, who served as a fueler for the celeb team. "I hope they could have this every year during the NSSCRA races in St. Kanye."

We're down to the last three races of the season. Next week, it'll be a road course battle in Jebslund at Die Landschaftlich Schöne Strecke. All qualifying sessions and races will be broadcast live on SKYNET (Saint KanYe NETwork) Sports Channel 12, and online at nsscra.skynet.stk.

Friedlichsheim, Meerderbäume

Freidlichsheim was a town typical of central-southeast Jebslund's generally rural areas: Buildings older than the parents of most of the racers, brick and mortar being the main construction materials used, road with no more than two lanes, one in each direction, and plenty of one-way streets, and one main road in and out, around which the rest of the town sprawled in a somewhat orderly circular grid (most urban areas larger than a one-horse town in Jebslund tended to be built on such grids if they weren't intended to be fortresses, barring towns and cities that had been "inherited" from vanquished foes, which often had a grid layout in the original towns/cities, and a circular grid layout in the post-conquest areas.), and a vibe where everyone seemed to know just about everyone else. It was a town where doors were generally unlocked during peacetime and nearly no one minded sudden guests if they were home and not engaged in private affairs, and where the hustle and bustle of the city was nowhere to be found, in favor of of a more relaxed atmosphere and a Krakken-loving populace that made sure to visit the Temple of Snacks, near the town center, every Krakkenite holiday, and where one could almost imagine nothing ever happening and would be hard put to find a major chain outside of the race track's concession area and a few of the ubiquitous hotel chains that seemed to be everywhere except the South Pole these days.

Even the StuG-IIIG spas were usually Mutter und Papa operations, rather than major chains, and needed to borrow from local car washes in order to have enough employees familiar with car detailing. The fact that they were local spas was no indication of their quality, though, as most of them rated far better than their more famous chain spa rivals, a fact that contributed to the prevalence of mom-and-pop spas in Jebslund's more rural areas. Whichever one A7DXZ5 went to, she would be in for top-notch care, her every want and need tended to quickly and warmly by staff whose only concern was her complete satisfaction. The preparation of her quarters, too, was done with careful attention to every detail, making sure her requests were seen to and the transponder was ready and in perfect working order so she could come and go as she pleased without needing to ask for help.

As for the food, all of the local standbys could be had, with Eva Kerman von Die Sportler's grandmother having opened a bakery at her granddaughter's suggestion, selling not only her cookies, but all manner of pies, cakes, and pastries. Additionally, the arrival of fall had brought out not only all of the best beers and ciders, but also the best of Fall foods, with various pumpkin, gourd, and squash dishes on offer (many with locally-grown vegetables), various Fall-harvest fruit dishes and pastries, meat dishes marinated in the juices of seasonal fruits, and even a number of breakfast dishes using locally-harvested Fall greens. Every flavor of Fall was present on some inn or another's menu, and there was a major Fall festival that would be happening during the race week, with many games and food stalls and beer-/snack-tasting booths at the track and in the various inns in town.
Jebslund is a nation of kerbals ruled by Emperor Jebediah Kerman. We reject tyranny, believing that rights should be protected, though we also believe said rights end where the rights of others begin.
Shockingly, we *do* use NS stats, with the exception of lifespan.

When Kai Qiang said he would win the next one after his 2nd place finish in Guilin, it was a serious plan, not just idle boasting. Of course, having a serious plan is not a guarantee that it will come to fruition -- but this time it did.

Dinggu Wang was back to his usual strategy of getting out in front early and playing defense. Qiang could tell his car was running well right from the start, and he didn't wait to start making his way up the field, but he wasn't quite as aggressive as Wang. No sense in wearing out his tires too fast or risking a crash. It took a while for Qiang to get all the way up to the front from his 26th place starting position. Suzgar took the lead for a while before Qiang caught up with him. They swapped the lead a few times as well as fighting off challenges from other drivers before Qiang managed to pull ahead for good.

Needless to say, Qiang was really enjoying his weekend. He was newly married (for legal purposes, even though they hadn't celebrated the wedding yet), Tsering was in town to keep him company, and now he'd picked up his second win of the season.

"I said I would win the next one when I talked to you last week," Qiang said in a post-race interview, "And I'm a man of my word."

The interviewer asked him if he had any predictions for next week in Jebslund.

"No, I don't want to push my luck saying stuff like that every race," said Qiang. "If you get too cocky, it can come back to bite you."

As people turned their attention toward Die Landschaftlich Schöne Strecke, Khamdo Electronics was questioning whether Meerderbäume's ban on IRACT sponsors applied to them, since they had sponsored Tsering Chu in NSSCRA 7. She was a member of IRACT, but acquired her NSSCRA charter through other channels. The charter was purchased from Saint Kanye with the financial backing of the Deaf Cultural Association, Yulha Sherpa College, and corporate sponsors like Khamdo.

Highland Tire decided it was easier to ask forgiveness than permission. They planned to just show up in Friedlichsheim, and if anyone complained, they would argue that they had sponsored Kai Qiang since before IRACT was founded.

Rinzi Zakhilwal wanted to complain to NSSCRA and have the league demand that he and Tashi be allowed to hold one of their promotional events introducing people to AutoModi's cars -- but AutoModi told him not to bother. Pressuring the local government to change its policies wouldn't endear them to the locals, and anyway, they didn't think Jebslund was a great prospective market. AutoModi was convinced that most people in Jebslund would rather buy local or get a Chadwick or a TMW.

With no support from AutoModi, Zakhilwal decided to make his own protest. He circulated a petition asking for permission to have an event in which fans could pay to throw water balloons at Kai Qiang, and the proceeds would be donated to charity. The petition got a few hundred signatures before Qiang saw it and wrote to Zakhilwal, "Rinzi, what the fuck are you doing? If you want to have a water balloon toss, you can volunteer to get soaked yourself."

Zakhilwal wrote back, "It's just a joke. You can always cancel the event if you don't want to do it."

In the end it was Chirpy Chhurpi that wrote to NSSCRA:

Chirpy Chhurpi sponsors Dinggu Wang because we want to tell the world about our delicious cheese products. We can't do that effectively when local governments in NSSCRA host countries make arbitrary laws banning us from promoting our products. Meerderbäume's sanctions against our company are purely retaliatory and there is no evidence that Meerderbäume has a legitimate objection to our business practices or our cheese snacks. If there is any concern about the safety or quality of Chirpy Chhurpi's products, we invite anyone who is concerned to take a factory tour at our Thimphu facility where visitors can learn about the manufacturing processes and see chhurpi and cheese-filled dumplings being made.

Chirpy Chhurpi does not have any influence over IRACT's decisions regarding Lexi Patterson or any other driver.

If Meerderbäume is unwilling to reconsider their sanctions against our company, then we would like to ask that NSSCRA reconsider whether it is an appropriate place to host races.
