Australien wrote:OOC-Well, to be brutally honest, it was simply a matter of the Australien admiral in charge of the ANTF completely overreacting and performing some excessive moves. The Wochicks panicked and Admiral Hawke has pretty much made it seem as if they were the aggressor to LL.

OOC: I don't know if I would describe their actions as "panic." Their orders were, after all, to infiltrate the Edmar undetected. A sub can't do that on the surface. All four subs did what subs generally have to do when faced with aggressive moves by armed surface ships. The three boats that scattered west of the strait did so mainly because they would have made a much easier target had they remained close together.

OOC: On the contrary. I doubt that a responsible nation like Nullarni would simply sit by and watch a war erupt without trying to apply influence in the hopes of breaking up the fight before it starts...

OOC-I was thinking that Nullarni might try and host a summit of sorts to keep things from getting out of hand. But since Kievistan and the Barbarians will attack during the time of this summit it will force everyones hand. Also as far as Wonderchiken vessels and the Edmar Sea, LL looks upon the Edmar as a sea belonging to it and Nullarni only and not an International Body of water. This would serve as a point of contention for those who wish to fight against LL, Australien, and anyone who allies with us.

Already, Bacs's head was beginning to clear a little. The medic had done a thorough job cleaning Bacs up, and had even offered a couple of aspirin tablets. He had also shown genuine concern as he examined Bacs's right eye, clucking his tongue and muttering a note-to-self.

"Have to keep an eye on that right...um, eye," the medic had said, shrugging when he realized the significance of his word choice. He had then patted Bacs on the knee and announced that he would let the Captain know that Bacs was ready for him.

Of course, Bacs didn't feel ready at all--not by a great deal. Bacs was no warrior. He had a good ear and a keen, analytical mind that served him well in linguistics and cryptography, but he had nearly washed out of the Vushicskah Fa's Naval Training Regimen because of the physical demands placed on the learners. As he stopped to think about that, he realized suddenly that he was grateful for the punishment he had endured there. It might just help him get through whatever was now standing between him and his return home to Tenjah and Devee.

Bacs looked around the small chamber. There was a small table and a few chairs. Nothing he could have hoped to use as a weapon, even if he was in any condition to wield one. On the other hand, he hadn't exactly been strapped to the table, either, and the treatment of him and his crew mates thus far had all been respectful (except, of course, for their treatment of the Saidom Vubee, herself), so there was hope that this might be endurable, at least. He considered the clock on the wall, and realized that he had actually been waiting for some time. It occurred to him that this could be a deliberate effort to let his nerves shake his resolve before the questioning even began, but he decided he would choose to be grateful for the opportunity to gather himself. He sat at the table and faced the door.

Kievistani/Lowell Leber Border
Feb 21st 1920 Approx. 1600

After about an hour of looking over a map of the region and discussing the situation, Brown had reached a conclusion.
"We need to get as close to the border as possible and try to get accurate information on the Kievi military. If, and only if, we cannot get accurate information whilst staying within Lowell Leber, we will need to cross into Kievistan and covertly obtain the necessary information, is that clear?"

Bacs wasn't sure how to respond. His ship had been depth-charged; pounded by percussive blasts until the main had ruptured. His Vushvakh, his ship, and most of the Saidom Vubee's crew were now sleeping in Guznahfar's Chambers1; and yet his captors had treated his wounds, given him something to drink, and were (so far as he could tell) treating the rescued sailors with perfect civility.

Of course, Bacs reminded himself, none of their current treatment mattered. A vessel of the Vushicskah Fa of Wo'n Darshekeen had been fired upon. And sunk, he reminded himself. It could only be interpreted as an act of war, and he knew his duty. No matter how civil and accommodating his captors were, they were the enemy. He could not trust himself to be forthcoming in any way without the risk of divulging potentially damning information. He looked into the eye of Ensign Johnson and tried to muster all of the sternness he could gather. He rehearsed in his mind the only things he would allow himself to say, but chose not to speak. Not yet.

My name is Bacs Zervahli. My rank is Devahkh-Thokh. My identification code is C4655-HCV4-8364BC.2

1 - Guznahfar is the Wochik equivalent of Davy Jones. Sailors lost at sea are said to sleep in Guznahfar's Chambers until God reclaims the world.
2 - I realize that this RP is set before the Geneva Convention, but I'm going to pretend that the Wochik High Command is forward-thinking in at least one way. For example, Bacs has been taught only to reveal those three to four facts, but he has no reason to think that it's all that can reasonably be expected from him. By the way (if anyone's interested), C4655 refers to his assignment to the Saidom Vubee, HC marks him as a Communications Officer, and V4 is his rank level. The last part, 8364BC, was assigned to him upon enlistment as ID.
