Character Name: Hol

Race: Human

Age: 28

Gender: Male

Nationality: Nargeon

Appearance:

Biography: Hol was born into slavery within Nargelond and separated from his parents at an early age. The majority of his life was spent being traded and sold from owner to owner, constantly being beaten or ridiculed by others. Even the name the slavers gave him, Hollow Cretin, was derogatory and meant to keep him down. Thankfully he had the one advantage of being small, nimble, and smart. While running and hiding weren't exactly options since they would only bring further punishment, stealing and blaming others were. Over time he gained a reputation within whatever household he was owned by for framing slaves that tattled on other slaves in order to gain favor with their owners and bully other around. At the same time, he took extra food and shared it with other disenfranchised individuals that were with him. This theme continued until one fateful day when he was with a group on the road to another town near the Airaldanian border.

At this point Hol was age 17 and had been with the group for several months, gaining many friends while getting a number of others punished to the point where they had been beaten and left for dead. He had recently robbed the head slaver of a large sum of cash that he had stashed away, but his time things hadn't gone well. Hol had gotten far too cocky in his heist and was caught with the money in hand. Enraged, the slaver had pulled his sword and was about to kill him when he suddenly couldn't make the sword budge from it's place in the air. Hol had found his powers. Quickly taking advantage of the situation, he knocked the slaver out and then took his weapon for his own. Knowing he was a dead man if he didn't escape, Hol quickly moved to free several other slaves and use his new found powers to overpower the rest of the slavers. Several of their fellow slaves died as a result, but in the end they were all free. With significant help from some of the older slaves, Hol then lead them for man months through the Nargeon countryside across the border into Airaldan, relying on the same skills in theft that he had acquired during his years as a slave and teaching others. Once they made it to safety, Hol used his power to fashion a ring for each member of the surviving group with a the design of a sword with a whip wrapped around it engraved over the entire length of it. Instructing them to use this as a way of identifying allies and old friends and only giving theirs to the most trusted of individuals, he then had them scatter across Doregon.

Over the years most have turned to the same crime that kept them alive in their months of escape, using theft and smuggling but not killing unless absolutely necessary. Many stayed in contact with each other, helping each other as if they were brothers and sisters. Some even went as far as to make new rings and give them to trusted allies in crime, expanding the loose organization even further. Hol shortened the name the slavers gave him, but kept using it as a reminder of where he came from. Now he has gained the reputation within the criminal world as a renowned thief, taking jobs for money or simply stealing from wealthy people for the heck of it under the guise of 'The Locksmith' for his exceptional skill at picking locks. Very few know about his magical powers, and he keeps them hidden with a vengeance.

Skills/Magical Ability: Has control over metal. Think Magneto, but way less powerful. He can lift something about the size of a sword without hurting himself, but it's much easier for him to effect things to a smaller degree, like using a person's armor to trip them up or stop them from swinging a sword. He mainly uses this to assist his skills in lock picking.

Equipment: A simple short sword, several knives, light leather armor that he wears under street clothes, and a set of lock-picks.

Nargelond does not share a border with Ydwyr, rather it shares a border with Airaldan. Fix that, and he's accepted.

Got it. Must have misread something when you described the map.

Northeast of Ydwyr are the Forests of Nardual. In the far Northeast is Nargelond

Sure. They both have scholarly interests and have done a fair bit of traveling. On what occasion(s) might they have met previously?

Seven has great interest in the ancient Dwarven mines and treasure halls, they might have met there. Or, of course, some libraries they have both visited. I think they mostly met while traveling, a dwarf and a Knifht of the Stormfather are people you quickly learn about in a tavern, if they are close.
The name's James. James Usari. Well, my name is not actually James Usari, so don't bother actually looking it up, but it'll do for now.

How to be legitimately recognised in NS? Be a proper Roleplayer.
In a community where knowledge should be used to uplift the teachable and be used as an interest instead of a necessity, the arrogant abuse of knowledge is interesting to watch.

I can't really make an app until there is a better race for me to play. I just don't really want to play as an Elf, Dwarf or Human.

I'm thinking of other races right now.

Will add, and if those of you who've already apped could put it in there, that'll be great.

That's your choice. There is a fourth race, the Limeo, and I'll be working on some Centaurs. But humans are dominant here, and I don't plan for/nor do I want to have like a dozen races.

Here's another human kingdom, if you want it Star:

Meragia: For many centuries, the Merag people were weakened through political division. The Merags were divided between a dozen petty kingdoms and independent counties that struggled mightily to resist foreign invaders when their independence was threatened. As Airaldan grew increasingly powerful and became more of a threat to the Merag Counts, the need for unity was obvious.

Such unity was eventually provided by Tomislav the Great, who's campaigns of conquest unified the disparate polities over twenty or so years into one kingdom under his rule. While not especially large, Tomislav's kingdom placed the Merags under one banner and allowed them to more easily resist foreign incursions with their famed light cavalry. Presently, Meragia is ruled by the young king Krešimir, the grandson of Tomislav.

Sure, why not.

And right now, I'm thinking no more kingdoms. Cities are still fine though.

You all will want to check out the Religion and Culture section, I've just added about 5 religions in Edit 1.14. After this, I think I'll build up some popular culture like Sagas, songs, legends, battles, and wars, and stuff like that, and after that, we'll be ready to go.

Tell me what you think of the religions! I personally think they're pretty cool, though I'm obviously biased. :p

Updated Sakurai, give it a look. Also added a Dungeon/Instance similar to the Undermountain (Credits - D&D)

I'd say the Sakurian religion would be a minor thing in Doregon, copy-pasting my concepts in too many worlds may bland it's flavour :p (Perhaps in the future, not now)
How to be legitimately recognised in NS? Be a proper Roleplayer.
In a community where knowledge should be used to uplift the teachable and be used as an interest instead of a necessity, the arrogant abuse of knowledge is interesting to watch.

History
The city of Sakurai is a place unique in Doregon. A province of humans, their exotic features from the other humans of Doregon makes them distinguishable at first sight. The males have smaller eyes, and often keep their hair short, or tied to the back. The females have skin paler than most of Doregon, and their hair exists in black and silver. Smaller in stature, legend says that they are a people who traded their physical build for much stronger internal strength and resilience. The males adopt a warrior culture, often going on raids and pillages or engaging in inter-clan war, while the females often serve as courtiers or shrine maidens. Those who do not engage in the listed occupations work the economy and industry which feeds every city in Doregon.

Many years ago, the War of the Winds happened, and Sakurai was nearly torn apart when the clans of Shimakaze, Yukikaze, Hamakaze and Kamikaze engaged in a civil war so brutal that the population was effectively decimated. Each clan head vied for the position of Shogun, the head of the civil and military government of Sakurai, and the lesser clans were not spared. One significant event which happened during the opening stages of the war was the Blow of Death, when over forty clan leaders were killed in a single sweep by the Kamikaze Clan's assassins. While the leadership was dealt a death blow, Clan Kamikaze assimilated the forty clans' troops, and set about eliminating potential opponents and dissidents. Almost every clan lost 8 out of 10 people, and Sakurai turned into a ghost city overnight.

The war would continue for a whole year, until all four warring clans were exhausted and destroyed by a popular uprising. The warriors of this uprising, the samurai, were hailed as heroes by the populace, and are showered with gifts and tributes. The next few months were spent rebuilding what was destroyed, and the samurai continued to provide protection for the people. However, as stability returned and peace restored, these warriors had little work, thus losing their source of income. Many pledged themselves to the Shogun as retinue troops, while others continued their service as independent mercenaries.

Today, the Sakurian military is a well trained army of horse archers, who also excel in melee combat with katanas and polearms. Every soldier is trained with a bow first, before moving on to melee weapons. Although the Shogun controls the most powerful retinue, the clans under his rule often engage in clan wars, keeping their soldiers in form for battle.

Sakurian culture is still a mystery to most of the world, as they are a very inclusive people. A patriarchal society, Sakurians are ruled by a Shogun, who is elected by ten major clan heads in times of peace. The Shogun has the ability to choose his son as a successor, but no one could guarantee his safety from assassins of rival pretenders. Usually voted by the might of one's House, intimidation and political leverage is common, as common as clan wars, and assassinations.

Traders often come to purchase their exotic teas, wines and metalwork. Sakurian clothes are especially valued in Doregon, as well as their weaponry, whose standard quality is a notch above the rest of the world. Sakurians often work as farmers and miners, fueling an industry and economy highly reliant on metals and building materials.

The Ouroboros Sinkhole

Recently, a sinkhole appeared within the mining network near Sakurai, where creatures of evil appeared and attacked the miners. While the beasts are easily contained, there seemed to be no end to them. Looking into the sinkhole, one would see naturally formed steps allowing one to enter it safely. However, the vast caverns and tunnels below crawled with danger, promising death at every turn. Only the bravest of adventurers should venture inside, to see what treasures await...

Looks all good to me. I'll add it shortly.

Ilha sounds like it needs some Manifest Destiny stuff. And Trauneas, rivals must be beat.

Also, how do we border Ydwyr when we're on an island, Star?

Character App
Character Name: Aquaea, the Seeress
Age: 32
Gender: Female
Race: Limeo
Nationality: None, lives in a Limean Fishing Village by the Sea
Appearance: Aquaea is a Limeo with incredibly pale skin and a colorful and bioluminescent design in her slug tail. She wears a variety of amulets and bracelets and like most Limeo she is taller than an average human when "standing up". Her elven ears are turned to fin like structures. She also has fine white hair.
Biography: Like all female Limeo, Aquaea is raised with utmost care. Since magic is only visible in the female bloodline and the males are suited for brute strength, she was raised to be a sorceress someday. Coupled with being the daughter of the Chieftain of the village, she was beloved by the whole village and was treated gracefully. She shows a great skill in conversing with the creatures of the sea and the art of the waters.

One summer day, the fishing village had some unusual guests. The seven year old Limeo was excited of who are these people. It is rare for them to have human guests since they are in a secluded yet peaceful side of the Sea. That's the time when she met the young Eileen and they bonded for the duration of summer that Eileen's family stayed. When it was time to go, she gave Eileen an enchanted conch shell, which the villagers use for communication. Eileen happily accepted it and they maintained their friendship through the years.

Then a prophecy came to Aquaea's mind one stormy night. She saw a churning black storm with a baneful eye at it's center, overlooking their village. It's great arms reached out to the hamlet and ravaged the villagers. She woke up screaming and told her father about her nightmare. Her father believed her of course yet the rest of the village didn't, as the last storm that attacked them as almost a century ago. She insisted and she stayed in a hut by the cliff that overlooks the village, watching and waiting for the storm.

A few years later, the storm came and with it a gigantic kraken, it swept over the unprepared village and Aquaea's one of the only Limeo who had the initiative to stop the monster. She reached for it's mind, to communicate with it. It threw a rampage yet it stalled it's complete course of destruction, enough for Eileen and her retinue of knights to come to the aid of the village. Aquaea contacted her days before the storm, and they finally slew the beast.

As the storm calmed down, the villagers thanked Eileen for her help and asked the forgiveness of Aquaea for not believing her. She was presented by a staff made of intricate corals with the eye of the kraken nestled at it's tip. She forgave them and was called the Seeress from then. Eileen stayed for a few days to help rebuild the village and to have some time with her childhood friend.

Since then, Aquaea became the prime informant of Eileen, using her abilities to help Eileen in her missions. She also intends to come to Eileen, to see the vast world that Eileen has told her about.
Skills/Magical Ability: She can communicate and control aquatic animals and can see information through clairvoyance. Her kraken eye staff serves as a medium, which she uses to scour the lands but takes much of her energy.
Equipment: Her kraken eye staff, various magical amulets, potions and powders.
Additional Information: She works in team with Eileen if Eileen needs information about her targets. She was also the one who warned Eileen about her step-mother.
RP Sample: Meh
