OH, a *manual* transmission.

Getting it there isn't terribly difficult, sure - it's just repeating it over and over and over and over, without error, that is tricky. Should take a month or two for most of the stalling to go away.

Just have to remember that in first gear you just have to ride the clutch to keep it from stalling.

Well, not sure if I'm saying it right. In first gear you have to go back to the clutch whenever you need to stop. You hit the clutch, then hit the brakes, then start it like you do from stopped.

Ah, okay... You weren't saying it right...
Riding the clutch is when you keep your foot on the clutch pedal.

What's tricky is learning how to shift an unsynchronized transmission...

The idea is that you fix the transmission before you try to drive it broken?

Ah.

Now I remember what I meant. When I was first starting to drive my car, I was trying to jump off of the clutch because I didn't think I could ride it to get it started. Riding the clutch when you're just coming into 1st and getting moving is ok, rather than hitting the clutch in third.
