Having admitted to not having read the thread, I find this question silly.
I am an avid fan of both sports. I see no need to argue about how or why one is better than another when I could be enjoying watching a match of one or the other (or one of the several other sports I enjoy watching).
Neither is superior. They are just different.

The called play only holds until the ball is snapped; after that, it's all about reading what the other person is doing and using your brain to adapt from the called play to what actually happens on the field. If you don't make adjustments to how you run your route based on how the cornerback actually covers you, if you don't make adjustments to where you cut upfield to make your run based on how the holes actually open up, if you don't make adjustments to what player you cover based on how the receivers actually progress downfield, you're toast.
All you've managed to demonstrate is that you know zilch about what football actually entails.

That is done in all other major forms of football especially in rugby league and Gaelic and Aussie rules. With much more frequency.

american football is not an international sport, therefore its not fair to compare it to football until its as popular, maybe one day people in china will idolize michael vick (they both kill dogs, dont know if vick eats them) but till then its a unaminous victory for football

Age of sport? Taste? There are plenty of reasons. I just don't find appeals to popularity or such to be particularly good arguments.
