I ate a clementine right now. It was okay, but a bit too watery for my taste.

Does it seem to you that fruit quality has been going down? Slowly over years.

Not the same piece of fruit, silly.

It’s not your imagination. Fruit quality has declined over the years. It’s to do with the way it’s supplied now. Farmers markets are a way to sometimes get around this. Or you can grow your own.

I'll try to use this thread for some ideas. So, I want to eat peas with my lunch today but they don't make a full meal. What goes well with peas?

Some breaded white fish or fishsticks from the freezer. Mushy peas are a typical side for fish & chips in the UK.

That sounds lovely. I remember when I was young and my dad taught me to make fish. It's still a favorite of mine.

I never ever thought of peas as a focus for lunch.
Very likely, I'll have some tiny carrot bits and chicken or tuna with it, plus mashed potatoes.

What is shawarma like in other countries?

They say that shawarma here in the Philippines is shit (and dirty) compared to other countries especially in the Middle East.

In my country, shawarma is quite good. But also, I might be confusing shawarma with doner kebab.

I do this all the time. Also: cut up leftover meat and veg and add to the ramen, first.

I really like persimmons. I don't like them as ripe as most people like them though. When the fruit is a bright orange and you can squeeze it a bit like a good avocado, that's the best time. I like there to be a bit of astringency.

Döner can be shawarma but not all shawarma is döner. Shawarma refers to a specific mixture of spices, not any particular meat. In my experience, chicken is the most ideal for shawarma because it is juicer.

The Mexican version of shawarma, al pastor (pork), is also very good. Every shawarma fan should check it out.
