I have been to Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara numerous times and they are not vacation areas. They were fine. I felt safer in Guadalajara than I have ever felt in a lot of American cities.

Hey, that's nice! Personally, I have never been mugged before or robbed as well, so you can assume that happens in very specific places in Mexico, though Nuevo Leon is particularly the least violent state in Mexico, the people can be really selfish drivers from time to time there

Their presidential vote's in two months, and I'll have a post on that here as soon as I can sit down for as long as needed.

This is a good head start. I'm curious if the Liberals and Union Party for the People would join a left-wing coalition, or if they would be neutral or even prop up a right-wing government. Well, time will tell.

For an example, simply look at Chavez's campaign slogans and posters. "Capriles is a gay Jew" is not exactly the most progressive negative campaigning I've ever seen.
