I love how a lot of pro-lifers think that having kids should be used as a punishment. Yeah, because that's gonna help your case.

We are not saying kids are punishments. We are saying if you don't want to have them then don't have sex. There are other ways to get your sexual pleasure with out sowing your seeds to someone else.

If you don't want to be raped, don't dress like a slut.
If you don't want to be poor, just stop being poor.
If you don't want to get abused, just stop being abused.

Yep.

However, states that are against abortion have been finding loopholes in the Supreme Court's ruling for years now, only way we can fix it is if they clear up the ruling or make a new and better one (Though, I doubt that would happen with the current line of judges).

If your position basically boils down to "If you have ever behaved illogically in your life fuck you and I have no sympathy for you" then your position is stupid.

You are missing my point, yes people make stupid decisions but if you are responsible you would realize that a mistake was made but you must live with that and learn from your mistake. I have sympathy for the ones who make this mistake, but we have to learn from it and grow as people, not complain an whine.

Protection doesn't always work though.

This is why a lot of pro-lifers have taken the "Child as Punishment" stance. "You shouldn't even had sex to being with, you knew what the consequences could be."

Yes, yes it does. The instant somebody has to go to another state in order to access what they feel to be important medical care, because some moralistic windbag is trying to curry favor with the evangelical vote, it becomes an undue burden. By all means, seek to establish policies that might help to reduce the number of abortions by reducing the chance that an unplanned pregnancy takes place or becomes a significant burden. Trying to limit access to those services however becomes very not-kosher.

Vassenor wrote:So to all the people saying that abortion should be illegal: Are you all willing to fund the welfare programs that said parent may require after birth?

Of course not. George Carlin had a bit about this that is savage, but true. According to him, some people think the fetus is important up until the point it's actually born, then they don't want anything to do with it. Education? Health care? Food? Shelter? If it might have disabilities related to genetic factors, malnutrition during pregnancy, the mother's being physically abused during pregnancy, or substance abuse, do they want to fund programs to help them make something of their lives?

Nahhh, son. Cut that welfare shit, get them off the government teat. The only time Carlin says these folks get interested in these post-born fetuses again is when they hit 18 and there is the possibility of sending them to be maimed or killed in wars to protect financial interests of the rich in this country, or military dickwaving over who's got the biggest weapons and most power to abuse.

What does that have to do with abortion? And quite of few of them are blue states as well.
Most of the time I have no idea what the hell I'm doing or talking about.

”Many forms of government have been tried and will be tried in this world of sin and woe.
No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is
the worst form of government, except for all the others that have been tried from time to time." -
Winston Churchill, 1947.

"Rifles, muskets, long-bows and hand-grenades are inherently democratic weapons. A complex weapon makes the strong stronger, while a simple weapon – so long as there is no answer to it – gives claws to the weak.” - George Orwell

Becuase if say rhode island passed a law that banned some service it only would take about 30min to get out of the state. If it take you less then 4 hours to leave then it is not a problem. Now if Alaska did something like that then yeah making a 24 hour drive is a burdon but still morally bad.

Nice work avoiding the question entirely. I used your figure of "two hours" and you ignore it wholesale.

This is why the position is hypocritical and untenable. Because seriously, "she'll have to find a way to make it work when we've made it impossible" is pretty much what you implied.

Gross.

We're not comparing apples and oranges here... we're comparing apples and baseballs. RI is a liberal state and shows no interest in n00king their abortion laws; Alaska is more conservative but cannot n00k their abortion laws regardless (if they even exist; I think abortion's more of a federal matter right now, but I live in the UK and not America). Also, who (in law) defines the four-hour period, or is that just something you came up with?
