Speaking as someone who grew up in the rural South, bigots are usually (not always) identifiable as bigots fairly easily.

It's just that they can stand out sometimes, because they're loud and fucking angry. Most Americans are pretty damn fine people - even the GOP voters (many of whom only do so because it's... what they do, and populist rhetoric is appealing to a lot of people). :P
