I guess the whole view on these matters depends on the individual. For me, hanging on to my culture is almost duty. I feel like I'm safeguarding Icelandic culture so that it may be passed on and not forgotten.

I feel people of multicultural backgrounds would not really be tied down to any particular culture, whereas somebody of a homogenous background would feel more obligated to do so.
