Plus apples can be harder for people with various dental issues to eat (unless you go to the effort to cut them up first, probably a similar amount of effort to peeling an orange.)

EDIT TO ADD: Seriously though, if you're ever in LA and get a chance to eat at Prohibition Burger, get the Frank Costello. That's the burger with the apples on it, and it is fan-fucking-tastic. Oranges ain't the only thing that can do savory!

It's in the Valley, in Encino. Pretty accessible from the 405 or the 101 freeways on Ventura Blvd. Really, ALL their burgers are amazing, but the Costello, man, with the apples on it... sooo gooooood. I think they've got the menu and everything online someplace.
