Okay a) wrong. It's not "a" man and "a" woman; the bible makes frequent references to polygamy all over the place.

b) "Marriage" isn't protected by trademark. A religious organization may refuse to marry people (without even losing its public funding, paid for by the very people it discriminates against), but it doesn't get to prevent anyone else from calling something a marriage. You wouldn't like it if [insert whichever denomination of Christianity you don't follow] had a monopoly on the term "marriage" - or even "baptism", "funeral", etc. - and defined it in a way you don't like?
