Lol, when someone mentions police brutality, you say it's only an "incident."

But really, I don't see a reason for people under 65 or over 12 to move to the Gold Coast.

Haha, I could say the same about my hometown.

At least your hometown would have small city charm. The Gold Coast has a beach, and a never ending expanse of ugly apartment blocks and overpriced suburbia comparable only to western Sydney.

Never been to Melbourne, but if it's like what I've heard I can understand. I live in an area not exactly known for good publicity (South Auckland) so soul isn't why I go to places for a holiday.

That change may be better for you, but not necessarily for others.

Now obviously leaving just for the "convenience of others" wouldn't really be an honest motivation, but it's certainly a good reason.

If theres nothing tying you to were you are, leave. I love the USA, (Hate most politicians though, don't asK) and find me self barely across the line to make me "right" and barely south towards anarchism, though I don't understand it. I find my strange balance coming from my far-left mother and far-right father.

Mine's that on a smaller scale. It's horrid in the summer time when the tourists come up. Once they go I can appreciate the natural beauty.

That's more like trying to stop a freight train with your bare hands. Especially if that train has been travelling in that same direction for years now and the machinist stubbornly insists that he has been heading the right way all the time.

It's like trying to convince NSG that abortion is wrong, you know it's not going to happen.

An accusation of trolling in the face of being called on your treatment of OWS and the ridiculous sense of entitlement that goes with it is hardly making an effort.

But then again, since this thread was started on the premise of "Why not run away from your country if you disagree with it?" I suppose I really shouldn't be surprised.

I actually think the article and its reasons were very good. Although that is partly because I agreed with the reasons anyway.

Nothing necessarily wrong with the premise... If your preferred politics are that radically different than the norm for your country (and if there is a country that fits your preferences) I don't see anything wrong with the person emigrating... Nor do I see anything wrong with staying and trying to change the norm to your preferences...

It seems rather like a cop-out to me to do so purely on the basis of political differences, but I guess that probably has something to do with living in a free and democratic state.

It does to me as well... On the other hand, if they want to leave rather than even attempting to make a difference, let them.

Should've read more closely, I thought they were separate incidents. Let me pull up some more in a bit (a lot of reading).
