November 22, 2011 WA.
The 397th year of the Liberal Unitary Republic.

Michael Evif was filling out paperwork in his palatial office suite on the sixteenth floor of the World Assembly Headquarters. There was nothing particularly exciting today. It was the usual humdrum task of authorizing deputy ambassadorships, ordering new stamps, and trying to convince World Assembly Building Management to surrender the few square yards of the sixteenth floor that weren't yet under his control. The usual drone of the three televisions—one feed of the General Assembly, one feed of the Security Council, and one GGNN telecast—accompanied him. Evif found the white noise of the televisions to be a calming force, necessary when dealing with the incomprehensible forms of the Building Management. Nothing interesting ever happened this early in the morning.

This is a Goobergunchian News Network Breaking News Alert.

The High Council has just approved the joint motion appointing Bea Mefirti as the new First Minister. Lady Mefirti, the now-former Minister of Alternative Solutions, replaces Brian Efesh, who was deposed in a rare no-confidence joint vote last Friday.

"Another new government," mused Evif. It wouldn't have any major effect on his duties, although he expected the usual flurry of memos directing the new government's policy preferences. Not that anybody else wanted his position badly enough to force him to actually pay attention to those memos, but he'd probably go along with them anyway. No point in causing unnecessary friction.

The GGNN screen went to a feed of Mefirti, who was making her first address as First Minister at the rooftop podium on top of the Councils Building. "Eh, might as well listen."

Most importantly, the Charters are in fundamental need of reform. While the Charters have upheld our freedom for generations, they reflect the times in which they were made. We are long overview for a proper revision of the Charters to reflect the new Goobergunchia.

So as my first act as First Minister, I'm calling a Convention of Revision under Article XLVI of the Charter of Ministries. All Lords of High Council are summoned to Goobergunch City at once so that we may begin promptly.

While we wait for them to get here, the Councils gave me some extraordinary and plenipotentiary powers for the duration of the Convention. So I'm dissolving the "Liberal Unitary Republic" for now. Instead, this is Year One of the "Oh crud, those Danish-demanding evil moderators have got him too!"

Oy. Article II of the Charter of Ministries specified that the WA Ambassador (actually, the UN Ambassador, but who's checking?) was a Lord of High Council. It didn't really mean anything, just gave him a fancy title, but it meant he had to attend the Charter Revision Convention. Which meant his first time out of the World Assembly Headquarters in over three years. (The last time actually involved getting a writ clarifying that annoying language in Article II.)

Evif put the rest of the paperwork aside. He'd get to it during some boring Convention meeting or other. First up would have to be that intriguing red envelope from the Secretariat that just flew into his in-tray.

"Seriously, danishes?"

To be continued in a roleplaying forum near you....

Because it'd be a conflict of interest for a game mod to hold the Delegacy of a large and active region such as TRR. Not that we believe Sedge would abuse it, mind - but it's worth heading the "ZOMG GAME MOD DEATS POLITICAL OPPOSITION!!!!1111one" hue and cry off at the pass.

Also, this way he can devote all his attentions to the salt mines, rather than escaping into TRR to recover from back-breaking labour.
