By decree of the great Warlord Tenel Nenel, all non-government use of the internet will be banned. The internet is seen by the Warlord as "a horrid example of the dangers of free speech" and "an abomination that only the government can handle correctly".

Public access to the internet will be cut off by tomorrow. Combined with the requirement for a license to own a computer, some feared rebellion. They were soon shut up by the secret police. News will now be broadcast on government television channels and newspapers.

We advise other nations to do the same.

Naturally, all Sadlandians wishing to move to a free state will be welcomed by the Party, Sadland will be considered as a possible candidate for liberation and annexation in the meantime.

While we understand the concerns of your Warlord, we must note that allowing the use of the Internet can also be beneficial to the government. It's like picking up loose change to catch rebels who get onto it and blab their seditious views. Seriously, some will put the evidence on open forums! Then all you have to do is track their IP and you've got 'em nailed.

We suggest you just quietly censor external sites that promote nasty ideals like democracy. Done right, your people won't even know that such things exist. This might even motivate dissidents to put up their own sites - which makes them even easier to catch than if they posted on other people's forums! For a bonus, after you catch one, replace his site's homepage with videos of his own execution. That will definitely show readers that you have a strong policy against dissent.

OOC: Welcome to the dark side. It's much more fun. Just try to avoid "stupid" evil - stuff done only to look like a comic book bad guy. Try to have a good IC justification for all official acts, so it seems like something a government of that type (likely a totalitarian dictatorship or military junta) might actually do.

Our Government completely agrees with this decision. We had our Internet removed quite the long time ago, since then all of those pig conspiracy theorists have shut their mouth. The internet is only used for people to blab about how bad Zanazbar is, but with no internet, they have nothing to say. Of course, anyone protesting in public is shot on sight, without warning. That's how you teach a lesson.

In general, it's assumed that the refugees are not actually allowed out by your government in the first place. We sincerely recommend you read up on a definition for asylum, and preferably not the mental hospital kind.

We will go so far in this endeavour as to assign vessels to international waters near Sadland [...and here I generalise and assume all countries have vast coastlines...] to protect any asylum-seekers. [...who, apparently, are able to swim vast distances to reach vicious-looking warships which may or may not be genuinely friendly.]

The mere presence of millions of soldiers is for naught if they have poor training, armaments, supplies, leadership and support capabilities. A truly successful nation can maintain armed forces with a high degree of technical proficiency, technological prowess, industrial support, effective leadership and reasoning capabilities, logistical efficiency and a coordinated arsenal of combined-arms support techniques, strategies and capabilities, and it can do that without forcing anyone to join the armed forces, in a truly successful nation, be it dictatorial or under the falsehoods of representative democracy, will have many join the military simply because it is for the honor of the fatherland.

Of course, a military is entirely pointless without the industrial complex necessary to support it existing as a primary focus of the nation, and of course, this industry creates jobs; for the people and for those who wish to join the people.
