Dear Islaic Gold,
Going for the Cabañas effect, we see? Excellent taste!
Best wishes,
ICD Villago

Dear Ulsa,
Sure. Go ahead. Buy off another one of our players. It doesn't matter. We need the money.
-Ojedo Cerro

Yuba-
We would kindoff prefer to meet you in the Globe Cup.
-Mapabore

Dear Dunboor FC,
Good to see you again. Remember that time in the Vahala Invitational when our midfielder transferred to your place? Kind of a long story but it's good to see you again. Keep in touch, yeah? Thanks for the points too!
Best,
Unión de Ciudagua

Dear Mar Sara FC,
Hey, it's you again! Remember that time in the Vahala Invitational when our midfielder transferred to your place? And now here we are. What are the odds?
Yours,
Mapabore Juventud

Mapabore:
Considering that the exact same thing happened to us, I'd say the odds are pretty darn good.
~Ciudagua

Ciudagua,
Sure, you're big shots, that doesn't mean you can read our mail.
-Mapabore

Dear Maethorü, Mercia Bromham, and Ranca Toco,
Thanks a million, we've been waiting for this!!
Love,
fans everywhere

Dear CF Mont-Pluie,
We wish we had something more hopeful to say, but relegation sucks.
Oh well,
Mapabore Juventud

Yuba United:
So. It has come to this!
Yours in anticipation,
Unión de Ciudagua

Dear CF Aéropag,
Thanks for the kits, and the goody bag, and the chance to do stuff.
Nervously riding the elevator down and hoping it's not too metaphorical or anything,
Mapabore Juventud

"...appears to be the fourth shootout in the AFI they've had ever since that Champions' Cup final..."

Dear Arrowsmith,
Pipe down. You don't rock as much as you think you do.
Dream on,
San Pablo

Dear SpVgg Tolzerio,
Away goals are for lesser sides, don't you agree?
Exhausted, but exhilarated,
San Pablo

Hey, Velasquez,
One swift shot, then immediately retreating into defense, is how you deal with snakes. Please come back, we all hate Terrazas now.
Please?
-Alianza Ciruelas

Dear Condadore,
Hey, we got revenge on those Skyanter guys for you!
Yours,
12 de noviembre

Dear Mapabore Juventud,
Consistency is great, isn't it?
Deliriously,
CF Clan Tropa

Clan Tropa,
Don't push us. We're fit to be tied.
-Mapabore

Dear Clan Tropa,
Vengeance is sweet.
Sincerely,
San Pablo

Dear San Pablo,
Eh, hope it doesn't take too much away for your quest for promotion to the first division, where we currently reside.
Yours,
CF Clan Tropa

Dear Cednia Beach AFC,
So we're off to this Lunar Park, let's hope for lots of added time just in case. Any advice?
Sincerely,
San Pablo

Hey, Ciudagua and Mapabore,
Tips plz? kthxbai
-Dénprade

Dear Blén CA,
Okay, the novelty of being the sympathetic side has worn off. Good luck staying up. You'll need it.
Best,
CA Condadore

Condadore-
Ha! Like you're going to get anywhere! There's only, like, three teams for you to upset.
-Blén

Blén-
Hey, you know what? If Mapabore can make another cup final, so can we.
-Condadore.

Condadore-
Uh huh. Sure. With your "magic" and all. Seems legit.
-Blén

Hey, everyone,
Calm down. Let's work together and make sure Ciudagua don't win again, because that'd be six in a row again, and then they'd probably have to shake things up again. And that wouldn't be fair, you know, between the Apertura and Clausura, for the teams that have to worry about relegation or whatever. Not that we'd know what that's like.
~Alianza Ciruelas

Hey, Clan Tropa,
Darn right you're not our normal club from Aguazul, the normal clubs from Aguazul usually let us score. Ugh, such a dumb opening day.
-Unión de Ciudagua

Clan Tropa,
Whatever, we'll get you in the league.
-Dénprade

Yo Unión de Ciudagua,
We heard you like penalties, so we put some penalties in your copa, so we can laugh while you lose.
~FC Nacional

Yo FC Nacional,
Thanks, but if this leaves them free to concentrate on the league, we're taking it out on you.
-everyone

Dear Mapabore Juventud,
You made the cup final how, exactly?
Sincerely,
Lobernians

Hey Lobernians-
We're tired, okay? We needed extra time in the Aeropag thing too.
Shut up,
Mapabore

Mapabore-
"Need" kindoff implies you do something with it.
Just saying,
Lobernians

Dear CF Clan Tropa,
We couldn't help but notice you scored a goal against us in this rematch, after we were already winning by four. A valiant effort on your part, but may we suggest saving it for sometime when it might be useful?
All the best,
Universidad de Dénprade

Hey Blén,
So, we're tied at the halfway checkpoint, eh? Only, we're the ones in the top half. Don't worry, someday maybe you'll be able to put the past behind you. Or not, as the case may be.
~Condadore

Hey Unión,
So, we're tied at the halfway checkpoint, eh? And you're not winning the league.
Good enough for now,
12 de noviembre

Hey AC Mineros,
So, we're tied at the halfway checkpoint, eh? Funniest thing, ever since we played you we've been drawing 1-1 every single match. Weirdest thing, don't you think?
Sincerely,
ICD Villago

Dear 12 de noviembre,
So congratulations on making the quarterfinals! We're here too! Um, the way the draw works out we can't face each other quite yet but even though we're not even in Aguazul proper we really like you and look up to you. We've read all about the way you used your dominant midfield to achieve success on goal difference way back in the day, and we believe in you and we think you can probably do it again. So good luck!
See you in the final!!!
~6 de noviembre

Hey Unión,
A split in the derby? We'll take it.
Still ahead of you,
12 de noviembre

12 de noviembre-
Away goals.
-Unión de Ciudagua.

Unión-
"Away." When we play in the same city. Now you're just grasping at straws. Nice job giving up five to Blén while we go top, too!
~12 de noviembre

Hey, Condadore,
You've got Arcrés Millos? Great, just put up six against them. Then they'll be too shocked to do anything and you can just coast through the final match. It really works!
Best wishes,
Universidad de Dénprade

Dear 6 de noviembre,
Extra time sucks, doesn't it?
Yours,
12 de noviembre

Dear CF Clan Tropa,
Wait, if you score two goals in sixty minutes in extra time, this puts you on pace to score how many goals in the league? Ugh, math is hard.
-6 de noviembre

Dear Condadore,
Fancy meeting you here. Don't worry, we were so bad the last couple seasons we're poised to upset you.
~Blén CA

Dear Blén,
Yeah, good try.
-Condadore

Yo everyone,
I heard you like second-division clubs in your final, so we got to the final.
~Fábricas

Dear Fábricas,
Yeah, good try.
-Condadore

Dear second division,
Okay, just...give us a minute to figure this out...Trecelunas you have Millos at the end so if there has to be a winner, might as well be Trecelunas, we think, um, Fábricas, we know you're tired from the cup run but please beat Depor by a lot, like, three might not even be enough. Um. Quemavilla if you can get held to a draw or something by Granagua that would be great, if Granagua win, then, um...
Blearily,
San Pablo

Dear Pumas,
Yeah, okay, but honestly if you can't beat us at the end of the season maybe you shouldn't be qualifying for stuff anyway.
-Piratas de Grisolon

To our illustrious and historic neighbors,
Um
This is awkward
Yo I heard you like

It has come to our understanding that you have been an innovator in expanding access to international football even among clubs that are not particularly outstanding. Might we please take advantage of this expansive policy?
Still reeling in shock,
Your neighbors

Dear Condadore,
Now this is how you get over stuff.
Love,
The champions

Dear Unión,
Suck it.
Yours,
12 de noviembre

Dear TQCC selection committee,
Sure, you could visit a first-division stadium. You could go to all the trouble of renaming some sponsored place. And you could expect a quiet match with no threat of damaging the well-maintained facilities. But that wouldn't be any fun.
Warmly,
Estadio Aramis Peralta, Ciudad Peralta (capacity, 68,000)

Dear GC selection committee,
Our best souvenir stalls are on the topmost deck, at opposite ends of the stadium. The media guides are a little overpriced, we admit, but that's because if you're literate enough to buy them you're probably foreign and want an in-depth look at our club's weird history. There are megaphones, of course, but they can be muted.
Sincerely,
Parque Parrar, Condadore (capacity, 30,000)

Dear SBCC selection committee,
We are located in the city of Arcrés. We are owned by a coalition of companies, who as such create an ever-rotating chain of concession stands and so on. The best was probably outside section 120, but it closed, so now the best is outside section 207. You can get rice and beans and beer there. Also we're about the only important stadium in Aguazul not to have a capacity of a multiple of a thousand (even if we messed that up early on, or was it just an expansion?), so that's probably pretty cool.
Pseudonymously,
"Estadio Arcrés," Arcrés (capacity, 55,500)

Dear Cygnus Cup selection committee,
Our stadium has been used for the final of a major international tournament, and suited. Also...the finals of our domestic cup are on neutral ground so it's possible some of them were here, due to our stadium being big, but it's never exactly clear where they are. Hmm. Anyway the point is it's suitable.
Yours, proudly displaying our actual name,
Estadio Prosperea, Ciudagua (capacity, 70,000)

Fifty-Third National Football Championship

League Overview

There are three big storylines in Babbage football today. One is hosting the 60th World Cup. This article focuses on the other two: Expansion, and the rise of Cymru.

Expansion

After the current season, the professional football structure will move from 70 clubs in two tiers to 104 clubs in three tiers. Aside from expanding to 16 clubs each, the FĈB and the regional leagues will look a lot like they do now. And three new professional leagues will begin play as a third tier under FFB auspices: Developmental League One, Developmental League Two, and League Ruadha, each having eight clubs. All 104 clubs will compete this season in a greatly-expanded Islands Cup before the new structure takes full effect in the 54th championship cycle.

FK Maribor and Sporting Boulder have been named as the incoming members of FĈB. Two other current clubs will switch regional leagues for geographic reasons: Red Devils FC moves from Svoboda to Valdemar, and Tardis FC moves from Svoboda to Ijak.

The ten new Regional League clubs and their assignments are:

 • Ijak: Lighthill Municipal and Stapleford Thursday.
 • Nash: Amikeca Hawking and Windsor Wanderers.
 • Svoboda: AS Havelange, Newton Lightning, Olympique Bayonne, and Racing Dirac.
 • Valdemar: Liahona AFC (Nephi) and Stokes Old Boys.

Great Falls Cymru

Coming off back-to-back FĈB crowns and a run to the semifinals of Champions' Cup 40, Cymru have established themselves as the team to beat in the Islands. Former Bumblebee international Isaac Buffington has steadily built a squad with strength all over the ground. Led by captain Saturnino and his fifty-plus caps, the back line boasts three Babbage internationals from the recent glory years. The front line is a trio of talented Ursines who are well into a second decade of playing together, going back to Di Bradini Cup days in Bears Armed. A fourth forward, 19-year-old Valentine Armstrong, has proved capable of playing any forward position lining up with two of the the "three bears" or as a flank midfielder.

Where there are three bears, there ought to be a Goldilocks. That would be attacking midfielder Ella Rasmussen, captain of the Baltskandio national team and a playmaker with few equals. Despite early efforts to squelch it, the Goldilocks and the Three Bears nicknames have won grudging acceptance. Great Falls fans have grown to love their Ursine stars, and Rowan, Urrsa, and Marra know that their sentience is not being challenged.

With Belgium in a temporary tailspin after the transfer of sweeper Nancy Svoboda to Bloomfield National, Cymru stand alone at the peak of Babbage football. Can Svoboda, Jaramillo, and the ageless Lindquist and Patterson raise up a new rivalry out of Bloomfield? Will the deep pockets of Chip and Kirsten Woods bring in more magic to Belgium? Or is the next challenge coming from the youth movement in Far Point with star defender Baldwin, the Filopine keeper Nolder, the Dagan striker Barrett, and the teen idol Alba?

The world is watching.

Past FĈB Champions

49 Greenville Rovers
50 Viktoria Baden
51 Great Falls Cymru
52 Great Falls Cymru
53 ???

Below is a look at the fourteen clubs as they enter the 53rd national professional football championship.

BELGIUM FC
City: Belgium, Daimler (79,923).
Stadium: Memorial Park (42,357).
Championships: Seven; 30, 31, 32, 33, 37, 38, 48.
Cups: Five; four times runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 26.
Main Sponsor: Owners Chip and Kirsten Woods.
Manager: Arna-Maggra o Wirrenne (Bears Armed).
Colours: Orange, green, white.
Nickname(s): Orange, The Crew.
TBI Internationals: Striker Courtney Keisler (25 caps), defender Sheila Burton (6).
Foreign Players: Keeper Marra o Mara* (Bears Armed), defender Summarra SilverBear* (Bears Armed), defender Samantha O'Keefe (Cassadaigua), centre back Beverly Sandoval (Sportgirls).
Last Season: 2nd.
Prediction: 5th. The Crew face a rebuilding time after losing Nancy Svoboda to National and three Bears Armed regulars to the homeland. Their disastrous performance in the UICA tournaments confirms this analysis. But Belgium are always dangerous, and the Woods have money backed by football savvy. For the moment they are not in their accustomed place of preeminence.

BLOOMFIELD NATIONAL
City: Bloomfield, Verne (122,651).
Stadium: Callahan & Babcock Arena (39,275).
Championships: Five; 25, 26, 39, 42, 47.
Cups: Four; thrice runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 96.
Main Sponsor: Callahan & Babcock (retail).
Manager: Orson Cook.
Colours: Royal blue, white.
Nickname(s): National, Eagles.
TBI Internationals: Sweeper Nancy Svoboda (122), forward Kristine Lindquist (31), keeper Jerome Patterson (24), defender Mattis Huber (8), striker Vigdís Stefánsdóttir (8).
Foreign Players: Defender Lita Jaramillo (Aguazul).
Last Season: 3rd.
Prediction: 2nd. Lindquist is still a dynamic scorer as she nears age 40, and Jaramillo and Svoboda together make life nigh-impossible for opponents at the other end. One may hope that Lita gets to play for her country some day; she is surely that good. Huber and Vigdís have added some sorely-needed youth to an aging roster. Back-to-back Globe Cup group stages have honed Orson Cook's crew.

CELTIC-SOUTHLAND
City: Wye, South Island (1,012,871).
Stadium: Unity Park (53,712).
Championships: One (by Southland); 7.
Cups: None.
Main Sponsor: ClearCola (soda manufacturer).
Peak UICA rank: 207 (by Celtic).
Manager: Anselmo Velásquez.
Colours: Maroon, gold.
Nickname(s): Maroon.
TBI Internationals: Defender Théophile Chagnon (9), keeper Kenny Hall (6), keeper Jennifer Faust (3), defender Gong Weishang (1).
Foreign Players: Striker Nadya Dostoevich and attacking midfielder Ivan Dostoevich (both Yesopalitha).
Last Season: 14th.
Prediction: 9th. Don't read too much into the wooden spoon, as injury played a big part. The safest prediction for this club is that they deal away a keeper, probably keeping the younger Hall. If they can add a winger or nine-and-a-half the Maroon can compete.

DOVER CITY
City: Dover, Cayley (277,219).
Stadium: Whitecliff Stadium (56,400). Hosted the World Cup 54 final.
Championships: Eight; 1, 2, 4, 8, 10, 22, 27, 34.
Cups: Four; four times runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 92.
Main Sponsor: Blue Skies Aeronautics (aviation).
Manager: Tim Reynolds.
Colours: Black, gold.
Nickname(s): City, Flyers.
TBI Internationals: Striker Glen Svoboda (107), striker Jennifer Stevens (29), defender Lara Kaufmann (12).
Foreign Players: Defender Onyemere Chinwema (Zenega).
Last Season: 10th.
Prediction: 10th. There are too many holes in this squad, and people are starting to recognise that for all of the stories in Dover it's still been nearly 20 years since they last won it all.

FAR POINT ISLANDERS
City: Far Point, North Island (209,131).
Stadium: Centennial Stadium (26,900).
Championships: Four; 6, 9, 12, 14.
Cups: One; once runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 247.
Main Sponsor: Amber Wave Foods (food processing).
Manager: Steve Isaacson.
Colours: Columbia blue, navy blue, white.
Nickname(s): Islanders.
TBI Internationals: Defender Joey Baldwin (26), defender Noemi Alba Delgadillo (11), defender Ósk Jakobsdóttir (5).
Foreign Players: Keeper Kenneth Nolder (Filopines), forward Ashley Barrett (Cassadaigua).
Last Season: 5th.
Prediction: 4th. The best crop of players under 25 in the FĈB, maybe anywhere. Baldwin will captain Islanders for years to come, and might well lead the Bumblebees too. Barrett is poised to become a great striker for a legendary football nation. Nolder is shining in his overseas moment, and Alba at 16 has won the hearts of the fans with spirited play.

FOUR TOWERS
City: Gernsback, Tesla (727,143).
Stadium: The Great Dome (61,522). Hosted the TakilQuip Champion's Cup 23 final and the World Cup 49 third place match.
Championships: Two: 23, 24.
Cups: One.
Peak UICA rank: 129.
Main Sponsor: Chronowire Communications (information).
Manager: Marty Dickinson.
Colours: Black, silver.
Nickname(s): Engineers, Watchmen.
TBI Internationals: Midfielder Taylor Chapman (20), defender Kaylee Nelson (19), midfielder Amado Cavazos (6), defender Constantin Kern (6), striker Sydney Allan (5).
Foreign Players: Midfielder Megan McCarter (Cassadaigua).
Last Season: 12th.
Prediction: 8th. It's Megan McCarter's team now, teaming up with the ascendant Cavazos and the last hurrahs of Chapman for a solid midfield core.

GREAT FALLS CYMRU
City: Great Falls, North Island (98,154).
Stadium: Maes Cymreig (26,722).
Championships: Four; 43, 44, 51, 52.
Cups: One.
Peak UICA rank: 51.
Main Sponsor: Heartland Financial (banking).
Manager: Isaac Buffington.
Colours: Red, green, white.
Nickname(s): Dragons, Cymru.
TBI Internationals: Centre back Saturnino Valle Barajas (57), defender Þór Finnsson (22), defender David Johnson (15), forward/midfielder Valentine Armstrong (13).
Foreign Players: Forwards Rowan Finch*, Urrsa A’Bearh*, and Marra Crombeyand* (all Bears Armed); attacking midfielder Ella Rasmussen (Baltskandio).
Last Season: Champions.
Prediction: Champions. (See featured writeup above.) It's hard to pick against the two-time champs and Champions' Cup semifinalists, no matter the challenges of going for a threepeat.

FC GREEN STAR
City: Zamenhofa Urbo, South Island, a suburb of the capital Charleston (298,200).
Stadium: Kupolo Zamenhofa (48,115).
Championships: Two; 17, 18.
Cups: Three; twice runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 255.
Main Sponsor: Senfinaj Mondoj Korp. (network technology).
Manager: Qiao Zhibang.
Colours: Kelly green, white.
Nickname(s): Dreamers.
TBI Internationals: Defensive midfielder Coll Brodie (13), midfielder Matthew Bradford (6), defender Allison Parry (3).
Foreign Players: Winger Valgarður Ómarsson (Harjeland).
Last Season: 4th.
Prediction: 6th. On the down side, they overperformed in season 52. On the up side, Coll Brodie has matured greatly on the national team's world tour. Call it a wash as they fight to go back to the Globe Cup.

GREENVILLE ROVERS
City: Greenville, North Island (18,590).
Stadium: Rovers Park (21,000).
Championships: Three; 28, 29, 49.
Cups: Three; four times runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 114.
Main Sponsor: Fresh-Fizz (soda manufacturer).
Manager: Veronika Hennicke.
Colours: Forest green, tan.
Nickname(s): Rovers, Woodsmen.
TBI Internationals: Sweeper Ethan Powell (24), striker Bernd Kroymann (13), striker Bearchan O'Dea (11), keeper Gregorio Solís (6).
Foreign Players: Midfielder Celia Rimoldi (Aguazul).
Last Season: 8th.
Prediction: 11th. Clubhouse tensions, a rarity in Greenville, will take their toll.

OGC NANCY
City: Nancy, Verne (101,561).
Stadium: Sojourners Stadium (30,730).
Championships: Two; 35, 36.
Cups: Two; once runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 95.
Main Sponsor: Tesla Motors (automobiles).
Manager: Christopher Mathews (Mangolana).
Colours: Scarlet, gold.
Nickname(s): Scarlet Army.
TBI Internationals: Defender Eva Glemnitz (54), winger Tom Wolff (7), winger Kaitlyn Clarke (5).
Foreign Players: Midfielder Allen Fuller (Mangolana).
Last Season: 9th.
Prediction: 12th. Last season was a bit of an illusion, and showed the talent of Mathews as much as any of the players. Don't expect a climb from the second division yet.

PARISIAN
City: Paris, Verne (468,925).
Stadium: Ijak-Nash Stadium (71,717).
Championships: Five; 3, 19, 20, 21, 46.
Cups: None; twice runner-up.
Main Sponsor: Security Group (insurance).
Peak UICA rank: 243.
Manager: Gaspard Garnier.
Colours: Brown, gold, white.
Nickname(s): Gendarmes.
TBI Internationals: Midfielder Emily Howell (15), striker Ingi Einarsson (7), defender Jacob Maclaren (7).
Foreign Players: Keeper Mark Pengilly, fullback Wolvela Landreth (both Seven Wonders).
Last Season: 11th.
Prediction: 13th. But if Howell and Ingi get in sync this could change quite rapidly for the better.

UMFK
City: Kopavogur, Gibson (163,957).
Stadium: Duck Pond (27,373).
Championships: None.
Cups: One; once runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 199.
Main Sponsor: Edda House (publisher).
Manager: Hákon Runólfsson.
Colours: Blood red, white.
Nickname(s): Vikings, Norse.
TBI Internationals: Defender Ava Gillespie (15), defender Ciriaco Jurado Gracia (13), midfielder Éibhlin Mangan (8).
Foreign Players: Winger Amadi Nwebube (Zenega), fullback Vagn Heiðarsson (Harjeland).
Last Season: 6th.
Prediction: 7th. Gillespie is fully recovered from her cancer surgery, and Jurado has picked up valuable experience. The Vikings could use a big scoring threat.

VIKTORIA BADEN
City: Baden, Daimler (393,949).
Stadium: Badenstadion (50,007).
Championships: Four; 13, 15, 45, 50.
Cups: One; once runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 154.
Main Sponsor: Benz-Motorwagen (automobiles).
Manager: Alexander Baumann.
Colours: Black, old gold, cream.
Nickname(s): Ironmen.
TBI Internationals: Attacking midfielder Joachim Erhardt (32), keeper Mathias Wiedergott (11), wingback Chloe Packer (10), keeper Timothy Kendall (6).
Foreign Players: Winger Björn Skjaldarson (Harjeland).
Last Season: 7th.
Prediction: 3rd. The Ironmen need to swap a battle-tested keeper for some up-front talent. (Talk to Zarahemla All-Sport; they don't have the striker to spare but might infuse the cash needed to bid for one.) Baumann's eleven under Erhardt's leadership are still top-five quality. Expect them to rebound.

ZARAHEMLA ALL-SPORT
City: Zarahemla, South Island (50,109), a suburb of port city Three Rivers,
Stadium: Celestial Stadium (29,295).
Championships: Two; 40, 41.
Cups: Three; once runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 80.
Main Sponsor: One Big Airline (transportation).
Manager: Jésus Vasquez (Sargossa).
Colours: Purple, white.
Nickname(s): Royals, Stripling Warriors.
TBI Internationals: Defensive midfielder Oddi Ísleifsson (16), winger Shí Guólǎng (8).
Foreign Players: Attacking midfielder Amy Robertson (Sportgirls).
Last Season: 13th.
Prediction: 14th. Shí is a new player with potential, and Robertson is trying to live up to her billing. Vasquez is trying to make bricks without straw. All-Sport would be well served to buy one of the redundant keepers on offer.

Regional Leagues

All four FFB Regional Leagues will expand for next season to sixteen clubs, matching the new size of the FĈB. The expansion also allows irregularities in assignment to be patched so each league is fully associated with specific islands:

 • Ijak: Gibson and Tesla.
 • Nash: Daimler and North Island.
 • Svoboda: Cayley and Verne.
 • Valdemar: South Island.

Each Regional League champion earns nomination to the Series B Champions' Cup.

Clubs for Esportiva international competitions should be taken from the top, as many as is appropriate.

The Open Football Cup of The Babbage Islands

Islands Cup XXXIX, in a long-term change, will feature both professional and amateur clubs competing for the title. All 104 clubs from the first, second, and newly-announced third tiers of Babbage professional football are entered as of right. They are joined in this installment by 29 university sides from the four strongest BCUAA conferences and one independent, the barnstorming eleven of The Scout Association.

The format could not be simpler, single-leg knockouts randomly drawn on neutral grounds. The last seven matches will be held at the seven sites in the existing finals rotation, again with all matches save the final booked for neutral sites.

With 134 clubs in the tournament a total of 12 from the third professional tier and the amateur entries were drawn for play-in matches to reduce the field to a power of two.

In the results below, clubs are listed with the league in which they will compete for the upcoming 54th season.

Round 20:

The second half of the KNL kicks off, and out of the top three, only Líjü record a win. Maethorü got their third loss of the season, away at Jeknólr, and Branvün lost at home against Árelóthün.

Stürng (W) 0–0 Tangkü (S)
Wúí (W) 0–0 Kthósl (N)
Jeknólr (N) 3–1 Maethorü (W)
Kol (N) 1–0 Víltsr (N)
Branvün (S) 0–1 Árelóthün (S)
Vnóskjülung (N) 1–1 Engbróthün (S)
Ájongká Region (W) 0–1 Nórílyá (S)
Óthüshün (N) 0–1 Üzhótü (E)
Líjü (N) 2–0 Hógóne (E)
Kángütsü (E) 2–1 Ko-oren Capital (N)

Round 21:

Hógóne win and put some distance between them and Wúí, who had the difficult task of visiting Maethorü this round. Engbróthün lose the Engbróthün State Derby against Branvün, who have lost the lead to get to Maethorü and Líjü in the last few rounds.

Kángütsü (E) 1–0 Stürng (W)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 1–2 Líjü (N)
Hógóne (E) 2–1 Óthüshün (N)
Üzhótü (E) 1–1 Ájongká Region (W)
Nórílyá (S) 1–2 Vnóskjülung (N)
Engbróthün (S) 1–3 Branvün (S)

Maethorü (W) 4–1 Wúí (W)
Kthósl (N) 0–1 Tangkü (S)

Round 22:

The Capitals already lose their third match in succession, though they took on some good teams. As Líjü lost points, Maethorü are now safely in the lead with 7 points to spare.

Stürng (W) 0–2 Kthósl (N)
Tangkü (S) 0–1 Maethorü (W)
Wúí (W) 0–4 Víltsr (N)
Jeknólr (N) 0–2 Árelóthün (S)
Kol (N) 2–1 Engbróthün (S)
Branvün (S) 2–2 Nórílyá (S)

Ájongká Region (W) 0–1 Hógóne (E)
Óthüshün (N) 1–0 Ko-oren Capital (N)
Líjü (N) 0–0 Kángütsü (E)

Round 23:

Maethorü have a blowout win while showing who's boss in the league. Ko-oren Capitals add to their misery as they lose at home against Ájongká Region, who have overtaken their rank and are now 13th. Wúí finally get a point, but is it enough to have a shot at overcoming the 7 point gap to the second-to-last place?

Líjü (N) 1–0 Stürng (W)
Kángütsü (E) 1–3 Óthüshün (N)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 0–1 Ájongká Region (W)
Hógóne (E) 2–1 Vnóskjülung (N)
Üzhótü (E) 0–3 Branvün (S)
Nórílyá (S) 2–1 Kol (N)

Árelóthün (S) 1–1 Wúí (W)
Víltsr (N) 1–2 Tangkü (S)
Maethorü (W) 6–1 Kthósl (N)

Round 24:

Wúí got a win, which is only their third of the season. Tangkü have lost 0-1 against Árelóthün, causing them to drop to 10th place, though they were expected to get a top 5 finish at the start of the season. Still there is only a gap of 10 points between the 4th ranked Kol and the 14th ranked Ko-oren Capitals.

Stürng (W) 0–2 Maethorü (W)
Kthósl (N) 1–0 Víltsr (N)
Tangkü (S) 0–1 Árelóthün (S)
Wúí (W) 3–2 Engbróthün (S)
Jeknólr (N) 4–0 Nórílyá (S)

Ájongká Region (W) 2–2 Kángütsü (E)
Óthüshün (N) 0–2 Líjü (N)

Round 25:

Suddenly Wúí know how to get points, and they're only 4 points behind the 19th place now! Engbróthün are performing badly and it shows as they are now in this 19th place.

Óthüshün (N) 0–0 Stürng (W)
Líjü (N) 5–2 Ájongká Region (W)
Kángütsü (E) 3–1 Vnóskjülung (N)

Árelóthün (S) 3–2 Kthósl (N)
Víltsr (N) 1–4 Maethorü (W)

Round 26:

This round showed many draws, or otherwise small wins. It seems that it is now clear who will end in the last three places, which should provide a nice fight for the fourth-from-last place, which also is a relegation place.

Stürng (W) 2–2 Víltsr (N)
Maethorü (W) 3–1 Árelóthün (S)
Kthósl (N) 2–1 Engbróthün (S)
Tangkü (S) 1–2 Nórílyá (S)
Wúí (W) 0–2 Üzhótü (E)

It seems that the big group of middle teams is now breaking apart as there is a four point gap between 8 and 9 now. Maethorü have a 10 point gap at the top as Líjü lose against third place Branvün.

Ájongká Region (W) 1–0 Stürng (W)
Óthüshün (N) 2–1 Vnóskjülung (N)
Líjü (N) 1–2 Branvün (S)
Kángütsü (E) 0–0 Kol (N)

Árelóthün (S) 0–2 Víltsr (N)

Round 28:

Ko-oren Capitals finally record a win after a few bad weeks, and it is a blowout against Wúí. There are more big wins this week: Kthósl and Vnóskjülung win 3-0. Kthósl could use a win to keep out of relegation problems and they now have a chance.

Stürng (W) 0–1 Árelóthün (S)
Víltsr (N) 2–1 Engbróthün (S)
Maethorü (W) 1–0 Nórílyá (S)
Kthósl (N) 3–0 Üzhótü (E)

Round 29:

This round concludes the third quarter of the KNL. Vnóskjülung get back in the top 10 after a win against Stürng, who are still safely mid-table. Óthüshün have silently taken over a Globe Cup position after a win on rivals Kol, Kangütsü are now by far the best Eastern Region team was they win 4-0. Maethorü are doing well and need only 12 points to secure the championship, for which they have 9 matches left.

Vnóskjülung (N) 2–0 Stürng (W)
Ájongká Region (W) 0–0 Branvün (S)

MSL - Matting Super League Returns

Postby Matting » Mon Jun 18, 2012 1:19 pm

The MSL returns, and there's no doubt that this will be one of the most intriguing seasons in a very long time! The league is cutting down to 10 teams, and the top 4 reach the playoffs. The league will use a draft system, where at the end of each season, the team with the worst record in the season will get the first pick out of all the college players who have entered the draft.

Following an utterly nailbiting final stretch, the 2013 season of the Gordonopia Premier League has drawn to a close, and with the dust settled, Kaje Football has narrowly emerged as the regular season winner by a mere point over both West Tolten and Latimere United.

Kaje's regular season victory in these final weeks turned out to be a combination of luck and the sizable cushion the team had established between itself and the remainder of the teams in contention for the top. With it's final three games being a pair of draws and a 0-3 loss to number 15 Plains, few would claim that the victory was a result of playing until the end. If the team manages to put in a Gordonopia Cup performance similar to the one it showed for most of the season, though, it is not at all unlikely that Kaje will hoist the trophy for a second time.

As for West Tolten and Latimere United, second and third placed respectively, the final stretch was a mix of hope, and letdown in the final matchday. Latimere United started the leg in second, only four points behind Kaje. A draw against their bitter rivals in the first matchday ensured that that difference stayed the same, and a 0-3 loss to Plains the next week brought some doubt as to whether Latimere could overcome the offensive titans of the GPL. However, the next week saw that score reversed against Fusba United, narrowing the difference to a single point. When Kaje came away with a draw against Fusba in the final week, Latimere saw the opportunity to surge ahead, and the fact that they were playing the second worst team in the league, Bolsom Sport, only energized their supporters. After starting strong, though, with a pair of goals from star striker Gordon Brink in the 20th and 41st minute, the team seemed to settle into a slump, and Bolsom began to take the initiative. A goal in the 61st minute, followed by a late equalizer in the 88th, caused the game to end in a draw, ending Latimere's drive for the top.

West Tolten, meanwhile, began the leg in third, with six points between them and Kaje. After winning both their 32nd and 33rd week games, the team seemed poised to emerge victorious following Kaje's early final week draw. West's final game against the Kjeldor Knights, though, ended with yet another one-point result. A 2nd minute goal by attacking midfielder Norm Bates brought the West supporters to their feet, only to have them silenced by another early goal in the 7th minute by Kjeldor left back Apal Lekea. Kjeldor managed to take the lead just before half, with a 43rd minute net by striker Gary Knox, but West managed to quickly equalize off a Hugh Lawrence header in the 51st minute. The game became a battle of attrition, only broken by a tap-in from West midfielder Kjinin Dijn in the 81st minute. As the clock began ticking down, it seemed that West would be able to last out the final game, but when Kjeldor back Deonte Van Tonder was brought down in the box by what appeared to be a fair challenge in the 87th minute, the referee awarded a penalty kick, which ended up in the back of the net. Neither West nor Kjeldor, which desperately needed the win in order to qualify for the post-season, was able to summon a goal in the final minutes of the game, and as the referee blew the whistle, both teams went away dissatisfied.

At the other end of the standings entirely, the teams facing relegation have become clear. The Imperial Guardian's pre-season pick for last place ended up being correct as Zuzelt Steel found itself mired in the automatic relegation slot. The team has failed to win a game since the 16th week, and ended the season with only 27 points; six less than last year's loser, Tolven. The team will be relegated to the Colonial League, and its spot will be taken over by the winner of the Inter-League Cup: Reinheim Metro. Bolsom Sport, newly promoted this year, found itself in the 16th place spot, and will play the runner-up of the Inter-League Cup, Basin Plain, for a chance to play in the GPL next season.

To wrap up the season, the two individual player awards have been announced:

Golden Boot - Gordon Brink, 26, Latimere United - In somewhat of an upset, Gordon Brink, star striker of Latimere United, has earned the Golden Boot, beating out tough competition, including season-long favorite Vonn Keller of Kaje Football. Coming second in both goals scored and assists, with 25 and 15 respectively, Brink was voted by coaches, journalists and league officials as the strongest offensive player of the season. With a hand on well over half of his third-placed team's goals, the award seems well earned. Brink, a Latimere native who rose up through United's youth system, has played for the team for his entire career thus far, and has vehemently denied rumors that he will follow the path of last season's Golden Boot winner, Jere Tobias, and sign a lucrative contract with a foreign club. If that ends up being the case, Latimere fans, and the nation as a whole, can look forward to his dominant offensive style for seasons to come.

Golden Glove - Dale Keller, 37, Kjeldor Knights - Despite a shaky final leg performance, partially due to continuing injuries on Kjeldor's field, Dale Keller has been named the winner of the Golden Glove. With 11 clean sheets this season, and a league-low 34 goals against, the award is well-deserved, if not undisputed. By the end of the season, all but six of Kjeldor's starting 11 were either out, or had faced season-slowing injuries. Despite this, the team's chance to make the Gordonopia Cup remained alive until the last match against West Tolten, largely due to Keller's keeping. In the final leg alone, Keller faced a jaw-dropping average of 17 shots on goal, with 29 coming in the final match. Like last year's winner, Keller was written off early in the season due to age, but in the end, it seems that experience ruled out.

Inter-League Cup

For the second time, the winners of the eight regional leagues that compose Gordonopia's second tier of football have met in the Inter-League Cup. In addition to earning the title of champion, the winner also earns a place in the GPL next season. Adding to this, the runner up plays the 16th ranked GPL team for a spot in the 2014 GPL.

As one would expect, the teams were as diverse as they were talented. Al-Kharid, for example, earned its spot in the cup following its victory in the Southern League. The team played in the GPL last season, but fell short in relegation and was defeated by last year's Inter-League Runner-up Bolsom Sport. On the other hand, Center FC, out of the small city of Centralia, around halfway between Plains and Gordonopia City, won the Central Plains League following promotion this season from the third tier Inter-Metro League.

In the end, though, the championship match came down to Reinheim Metro, from Reinheim, second city in the Greater Deska Metro Area, and Basin Plain, of Reichsburg. The teams won the Northern Mountains League and the River Basin League to earn their spot in the tournament, and each overcame two tough opponents to make it to the final game.

At the end of the match before a sellout crowd at Empire Stadium, Reinheim Metro emerged victorious 3-2, earning it a spot in next year's GPL. Basin Plain will battle Bolsom Sport for an opportunity to be promoted as well.

First Round
Al-Kharid 4–1 Center FC
Bellum Sport 0–2 Reinheim Metro
Harbor Football 1–1 Riverside Works (1–1 AET) (4–3 pen.)
Tahi AC 0–0 Basin Plain (0–1 AET)

Semi-Finals
Al-Kharid 0–0 Reinheim Metro (0–0 AET) (1–3 pen.)
Harbor Football 0–2 Basin Plain

Championship Match
Reinheim Metro 3–2 Basin Plain

ZL Annouces Major Reform in the Zarblese League System

TRIBE, KA - The President of the Zarblese League, Karlos Nudag, announced today that the League will go through major changes in the upcoming years, starting right away with season XXII.

According to mr. Nudag, these reform is intended to address 3 issues concerning the current state of football in Zarbli.

The first one is to make the ZL more competitive and profitable. Mr. Nudag affirmed that this will be achieved with a reduction in the amount of clubs disputing the Duke League (the top tier league in the country) and with a complete restructure of the Zarblese International Cup, "making the ZIC final the biggest football event of the country", said the president.

The second goal of the reform regards not the top Zarbli clubs, but rather the smallest. There are currently 65 clubs in the ZL, but only 60 of them are anabled to play in one of the ZL main Leagues, the Duke Leage, the Marquis League and the Count League, each disputed by 20 clubs. This led to 5 of the smallest clubs only competing in the National Championships at the beginning of the season, and spending he rest of the year watching the other matches.

To solve that problem, a 4th division, the Viscount League, will be introduced this season, played by the clubs that did not qualify for the Count League.

The third and final goal of the reform is to deal with a political situation. Until last year, Zarbli was formed by 12 nations and a Royal Domain, each with 5 clubs in the ZL. With the separation of Crossland and Tibursio in two nations that took place last year, the numbers simply don't add up any longer.

To solve that issue, 5 new clubs will be joining the League this year, completing the amount of 5 per nation and raising the number of clubs in the League System to 70.

The International Cup

How it was until season XXI

Stage 1: National Championships

Each of the 12 Nations plus the Union Heart Royal Domain held 5 clubs double round-robin

The 13 champions and the 3 runner-ups with best overall campaign qualified for the second stage

Stage 2: Playoffs

Round of 16, Quarterfinals and Semifinals played in home and away matches, final in single match in neutral ground.

The New Zarblese International Cup

Stage 1: National

The now 13 nations' and the Union Eart Royal Domain's clubs will play their national opponents in double round robin

Each group winner and the best overall second places will qualify for the second stage.

Stage 2: Regional Divisions

The nations and UHRD will be further grouped in 4 big Divisions, following the traditional division of the country in regions:

• The West Division, composed by the nations of Billiard, Cannibaland and Centurionton;

• The North-East Division, composed by Balance Country, Crossland, Mountain Chain and Tibursio;

• The South Division, composed by Battlefield, Pauzis and Pyramidland

• The Center Division, composed by Class, Goi, Moonland and the Union Heart Royal Domain

The previous year's ZIC champion will automatically qualify for this stage, occupying the spot of its Division's worst second placed club in the National stage that would otherwise qualify.

Each Division Group us composed of 5 clubs that will compete in double round-robin.

The first and second places of each Division Group qualify for the 3rd stage.

Stage 3: Playoffs

Each qualified club will be numbered according with its performance in Stage 2 (1 to 4 for first places, 5 to 8 for second places)

The first round of the playoff will feature the matches 1 v 8, 2 v 7, 3 v 6 and 4 v 5. Winners go through to the next round. Each round consists in home ad away matches with away goal rule applying.

Stage 4: The Great Final

A single match played in neutral ground.

The League

How it was until season XXI

4 clubs were relegated from the DL and the ML, and 4 were promoted from the ML and CL. The bottom 4 club in the CL could fail to qualify for the League the next season, depending on their performance in the respective National Championship.

The New Zarblese League

In the next seasons, the league will change from three 20 clubs tiers to five 14 clubs tiers.

Round 30:

The last quarter of the KNL has begun. Will Maethorü extend their lead? Will they choke? Will Líjü manage to keep their second place? Who will be Globe Cup Qualifiers? Who will relegate?

Stürng (W) 2–2 Engbróthün (S)
Árelóthün (S) 2–1 Nórílyá (S)
Víltsr (N) 0–0 Üzhótü (E)
Maethorü (W) 1–0 Hógóne (E)
Kthósl (N) 3–1 Ko-oren Capital (N)
Tangkü (S) 2–0 Kángütsü (E)
Wúí (W) 0–1 Líjü (N)
Jeknólr (N) 1–0 Óthüshün (N)
Kol (N) 1–1 Ájongká Region (W)
Branvün (S) 2–1 Vnóskjülung (N)

Round 31:

Lots of big victories this match round. There is still a large number of teams mid-table that could seize a Globe Cup spot after a good run near the end, of these teams Branvün and Kol won big, Óthüshün and Kángütsü had a good day and Jeknólr threw it away.

Branvün (S) 5–0 Stürng (W)
Vnóskjülung (N) 0–4 Kol (N)
Ájongká Region (W) 1–0 Jeknólr (N)
Óthüshün (N) 3–0 Wúí (W)
Líjü (N) 1–0 Tangkü (S)
Kángütsü (E) 3–2 Kthósl (N)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 0–4 Maethorü (W)
Hógóne (E) 1–0 Víltsr (N)
Üzhótü (E) 2–1 Árelóthün (S)
Nórílyá (S) 0–2 Engbróthün (S)

Round 32:

Six matches from the end, the most likely champion is Maethorü, who need one more point to secure the championship. At the bottom, Wúí will not be able to avoid relegation playoffs if Üzhótü get one more point. For the rest of the relegators, Engbróthün, Hógóne and Stürng will most likely join Wúí. At the top, Líjü look en route to the GC, Branvün looking comfortable to do so too, and Jeknólr and Óthüshün have the best chances to join as third team.

Stürng (W) 1–2 Nórílyá (S)
Engbróthün (S) 1–0 Üzhótü (E)
Árelóthün (S) 0–0 Hógóne (E)
Víltsr (N) 0–1 Ko-oren Capital (N)
Maethorü (W) 3–0 Kángütsü (E)
Kthósl (N) 1–0 Líjü (N)
Tangkü (S) 0–0 Óthüshün (N)
Wúí (W) 0–1 Ájongká Region (W)
Jeknólr (N) 2–0 Vnóskjülung (N)
Kol (N) 1–1 Branvün (S)

Round 33:

Maethorü are again champions of Ko-oren! In a direct match vs. second ranked Líjü they stole a 0-2 victory and will probably be royal champions. Üzhótü have won against a disappointing Nórílyá and that means that Wúí are sure to play relegation playoffs. At the top is now a group of 5 teams (Maethorü excluded) that will battle for Globe Cup places, unless something unexpected happens. The bottom four teams will play relegation playoffs, and it is likely that those four teams also sealed their fate this match round.

Kol (N) 1–0 Stürng (W)
Branvün (S) 0–2 Jeknólr (N)
Vnóskjülung (N) 1–0 Wúí (W)
Ájongká Region (W) 1–1 Tangkü (S)
Óthüshün (N) 1–0 Kthósl (N)
Líjü (N) 0–2 Maethorü (W)
Kángütsü (E) 0–1 Víltsr (N)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 0–0 Árelóthün (S)
Hógóne (E) 0–1 Engbróthün (S)
Üzhótü (E) 1–0 Nórílyá (S)

Round 34:

The league is drawing to a close, after this round there are four more matches to play. KSN will include a league table from that point on too. The bottom four teams are now seven points apart from a safe spot, and at the top Óthüshün have beaten Maethorü now that the latter are done. Because of this, Kol seem to be the first drop-outs in the GC race.

Stürng (W) 0–1 Üzhótü (E)
Nórílyá (S) 3–1 Hógóne (E)
Engbróthün (S) 1–2 Ko-oren Capital (N)
Árelóthün (S) 2–1 Kángütsü (E)
Víltsr (N) 2–1 Líjü (N)
Maethorü (W) 0–1 Óthüshün (N)
Kthósl (N) 2–1 Ájongká Region (W)
Tangkü (S) 2–2 Vnóskjülung (N)
Wúí (W) 0–3 Branvün (S)
Jeknólr (N) 0–0 Kol (N)

Round 35:

At four matches from the end, enough can still happen. It is not very likely that that will, though... There is still something left to fight over in the top, with five teams up for GC qualification, but at the bottom, the last four teams seem to have accepted their fate.

Jeknólr (N) 2–0 Stürng (W)
Kol (N) 1–0 Wúí (W)
Branvün (S) 0–0 Tangkü (S)
Vnóskjülung (N) 3–4 Kthósl (N)
Ájongká Region (W) 0–4 Maethorü (W)
Óthüshün (N) 0–0 Víltsr (N)
Líjü (N) 2–0 Árelóthün (S)
Kángütsü (E) 0–1 Engbróthün (S)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 2–2 Nórílyá (S)
Hógóne (E) 2–2 Üzhótü (E)

Round 36:

Stürng win big in a last effort to avoid relegation, but they'll have to be quick. Kol have again lost points in the GC race. The last three teams, apart from Wúí, can still avoid relegation playoffs. Mid-table, there is little risk. Teams still have a theoretical chance at relegation or the GC, and don't forget that teams 5 and 6 will qualify for the FireStorm Cup!

Round 37:

One more match after this, and the positions seem more and more decided. Engbróthün, one of the teams tipped for relegation, suddenly have Ko-oren Capitals to overtake if they lose and Engbróthün win. They will need to correct 9 goals in GD, though. Kol and Óthüshün will play FireStorm Cup, Líjü, Branvün and Jeknólr will play Globe Cup, only their seed can change based on their results from now on.

Round 38:

And it's all over! Maethorü are the champions, which they have known for very long, Branvün, Líjü and Jeknólr will play Globe cup, Óthüshün and Kol will play FireStorm Cup next season. With the looming relegation playoffs, Ko-oren Capitals beat Stürng that's even lower than KOC, ruining the chances of Engbróthün, who did beat Ájongká Region.

There are three teams with 47 teams, of which only Safürüng will play playoffs, unfortunately for Ídígó and Selesí, but they should have paid more attention to their goal difference.

Diamond Dust have once again won in the Southern Conference. Síshínóvá relegated to this league last year, and have done poorly in 10th place. Rainbow and Altitude will join Diamond Dust in the playoffs.

Lastly, the Western Conference:

Tkhon have finally won the conference. The only two teams that will play in the playoffs traditionally have a good chance to reach the KNL, so Tkhon and Endev are lucky. Blizzard and Álárá came from the Northern and Southern league to the Western Conference, but neither did very well.

Season 6- Part II- Matchdays 6-10

note: Bold denotes leader after matchday

Matchday Six

Cahrsinleh Devils 1–1 Shihn'Dohm Island FC
Sho Athletic Club 3–3 Seendok Shells
Mount T Ye T 2–0 Shared Land Freedom
FC Peniclado 1–0 Mehnsihn Gladiators
Minelmeni Tigers 0–1 Outpost Pioneers
Arksin Football Club 1–2 Abo Abo
Chahr North Stars 1–0 Northeastern
FC Charge 2–0 Elcahnd Heat

Northeastern is finally pulled down from their lofty heights by Chahr North Stars, who edge them 1-0 in a thrilling defensive battle. Seendok still cant hoist themselves up to the top of the tables, as they have a dissapointing draw with Sho Athletic Club.

Carmadin Shield-Bronze Round, Leg 1

FC Lions 5–2 Stohrhdihd
Prehndohn Port 0–2 South End
Borgo City 6–0 Portside Anchormen
Central FC 2–0 Crabs FK
Chahr City 3–1 Emeralds
Chahr Senators 2–0 UniKlub
Western Sea Whales 0–2 Victory
Island AFK 1–0 Southern FC
Mount Yuyunipitqana 0–1 Ahlehnt Isle
Chahr Nationals 2–0 WPFK
Western FC 0–1 Ocean Breakers AFC
Point Pahmohk 1–1 Oberfk
Black Sand AFC 1–4 Sitch Sports Club
Eastern FC 6–2 Kemeli du Cahrsinleh
Sahmen Sting 0–0 Banner
Lipneh Town 0–0 Volcano SK

The early rounds of the Shield are lower-league Carmadin football at its best, and the Bronze Round delivers here, with high-scoring football all around (except for those last two nil-nil draws). Black Sand AFC and Kemeli du Cahrsinleh, both noted for their runs in last season's Shield, suffer 4-1 and 6-2 defeats, respectively.

Matchday Seven

Elcahnd Heat 1–0 Cahrsinleh Devils
Northeastern 4–2 FC Charge
Abo Abo 0–0 Chahr North Stars
Outpost Pioneers 0–1 Arksin Football Club
Mehnsihn Gladiators 4–2 Minelmeni Tigers
Shared Land Freedom 0–0 FC Peniclado
Seendok Shells 2–0 Mount T Ye T
Shihn'Dohm Island FC 1–0 Sho Athletic Club

Northeastern reclaims the top spot with a dramatic and dominant 4-2 showing against FC Charge, and are two points up on the rest of the league. Mehnsihn Gladiators, newly promoted, show that the Gold League is where they belong with a 4-2 win over Minelmeni Tigers, league champions just three seasons ago. The Tigers are now in a relegation spot.

Matchday Eight

Cahrsinleh Devils 3–3 Sho Athletic Club
Mount T Ye T 2–1 Shihn'Dohm Island FC
FC Peniclado 1–0 Seendok Shells
Minelmeni Tigers 4–3 Shared Land Freedom
Arksin Football Club 3–3 Mehnsihn Gladiators
Chahr North Stars 2–0 Outpost Pioneers
FC Charge 2–2 Abo Abo
Elcahnd Heat 2–1 Northeastern

Northeastern drops to Elcahnd Heat, but retain their hold on the league, even though that lead is now just one point. Seendok Shells drop yet another game, and Abo Abo impressively hold FC Charge to a draw in Anging to hold onto the 5th position in the league.

Carmadin Shield-Bronze Round, Leg 2

Stohrhdihd 3–4 FC Lions (5-9 agg.)
South End 2–1 Prehndohn Port (4-1 agg.)
Portside Anchormen 0–1 Borgo City (0-7 agg.)
Crabs FK 0–0 Central FC (0-2 agg.)
Emeralds 1–3 Chahr City (2-6 agg.)
UniKlub 0–3 Chahr Senators (0-5 agg.)
Victory 8–3 Western Sea Whales (10-3 agg.)
Southern FC 2–4 Island AFK (2-5 agg.)
Ahlehnt Isle 5–1 Mount Yuyunipitqana (6-1 agg.)
WPFK 0–1 Chahr Nationals (0-3 agg.)
Ocean Breakers AFC 1–1 Western FC (2-1 agg.)
Oberfk 0–0 Point Pahmohk (1-1 agg, 1-0 away goals)
Sitch Sports Club 3–2 Black Sand AFC (7-3 agg.)
Kemeli du Cahrsinleh 0–1 Eastern FC (2-7 agg.)
Banner 1–1 Sahmen Sting (1-1 agg, 0-1 away goals)
Volcano SK 1–1 Lipneh Town (1-1 agg, 0-1 away goals)

Matchday Nine

Northeastern 3–0 Cahrsinleh Devils
Abo Abo 2–1 Elcahnd Heat
Outpost Pioneers 0–2 FC Charge
Mehnsihn Gladiators 0–1 Chahr North Stars
Shared Land Freedom 1–0 Arksin Football Club
Seendok Shells 2–1 Minelmeni Tigers
Shihn'Dohm Island FC 1–1 FC Peniclado
Sho Athletic Club 2–2 Mount T Ye T

Northeastern is at seven wins in nine matches, and their roll dosen't look to be stopping any time soon. That is, at least until FC Charge catches them slipping! Seendok Shells defeat Minelmeni, and the Shells look to be making one of those slow-but-steady upward climbs we know so well.

Matchday Ten

Cahrsinleh Devils 4–0 Mount T Ye T
FC Peniclado 0–0 Sho Athletic Club
Minelmeni Tigers 0–1 Shihn'Dohm Island FC
Arksin Football Club 1–1 Seendok Shells
Chahr North Stars 2–0 Shared Land Freedom
FC Charge 0–1 Mehnsihn Gladiators
Elcahnd Heat 2–0 Outpost Pioneers
Northeastern 3–1 Abo Abo

Is this Northeastern's year? It certainly looks like it, as they are atop the tables, and leading by four points, one-third of the way into the season. The Shells fell as quickly as they came, drawing with bottom-feeders Arksin Football Club to make this the worst start in the club's history. Mehnsihn Gladiators pull off the upset, beating FC Charge to show they really do belong here in the Gold League.

May La Déesse bless you all as the Holy Empire of Kitsunia-Deesse starts its first season of professional football as the tournament named Ligue 1.

OOC: Kitsunia-Deesse is a country entirely formed by Kitsunes, who live peacefully in a decent sized territory that reminds a little of the Present Day France. Also, its "people" speak in French and work hard to live in the same normal padrons of other human nations, however, mantaining its functioning as a nation devoted to its religious and political leader (mostly the first), La Déesse.

For our first season, eighteen teams will play for the rights of being named Kitsunia-Deesse Champions and also recieve a special blessing from La Déesse.

Gordonopia Premier League
Gordonopia Cup 2013 First Round

The 2013 Gordonopia Cup has started, and so far it's lived up to the expectation of being the nation's premier sporting event. Following four exciting, and often nail biting, matches, four teams have managed to advance to the semi-final round: regular season winner and defending champion Kaje Football, defensive powerhouse FC Deska, third seeded Latimere United and last year's runner-up West Tolten.

Opening the tournament at their home stadium on Bahar Island was Kaje Football, facing off against Gordonopia FC. Heavily favored to win, Kaje came out much slower than expected and for awhile seemed to be out of touch. This sentiment was magnified when 17 year old Gordonopia FC striker Jonathon Turner tipped the ball over the Kaje line in the 21st minute, giving the underdogs a 1-0 lead. Rather than become discouraged by the scoreboard, though, the goal served as almost a slap in the face to wake up Kaje's furious offense. As soon as the ball was back in play, the team took control, and in the 30th minute, Erathi midfielder Roman Galoslon scored off an excellent cross from fellow middy Hugh Burch. In the beginning of the second half, the team managed to repeat the result with yet another cross from Burch, this time to striker Martin Lowe in the 48th minute. At that point, though, the team slowly slipped back into their slump at the beginning of the game, and with ten minutes left on the clock, Gordonopia FC took advantage of a momentary lapse. When a pass went wide and was intercepted by Johannes Leitz, the GFC midfielder managed to move the ball all the way up the field, past several Kaje defenders, and deliver it home. This equalizing goal went unanswered, and when the whistle blew, both teams prepared for overtime. Unfortunately for Gordonopia FC, the goal served to once again shock the tournament favorites into their top form, and Kaje controlled the ball for the majority of extra time, scoring the game winning goal in the 108th minute off a Vonn Keller header.

In contrast to the on-again-off-again performance of the opening match, the game between Teva FC and FC Deska at Iron Harbor Stadium in Teva was a true battle of attrition, with both teams maintaining top-form, both offensively and to a lesser extend defensively, for virtually the entire match. On one hand, this proved to be a happy contrast to the regular season for FC Deska, who have consistently struggled to create chances on the attack. On the other, the game was a disappointing exit for fourth seeded Teva FC, who certainly played just as well as the ultimate victors. Teva gained the edge initially, after a 31st minute goal by Astograth striker Itzaina Erreka, but the game reverted to a draw in the 58th minute when Deska striker Martin Mallorn knocked the ball past Teva's goalie. The game went back and forth across the field for much of the rest of the game, and it wasn't until the 85th minute that Mallorn earned a second goal, which game Deska the ultimate win. Deksa will play Kaje Fooball at Plains Stadium.

Next up was Latimere United versus Willingham AC, a team promoted this season, at Latimere's home stadium, Islands Field. Continuing with the theme of down to the wire encounters, neither team managed to gain a real advantage throughout the game. Goals by Latimere's Gordon Brink in the 24th minute and Abner Warner in the 64th minute were quickly matched by nettings from Willingham's Orzaize Lizaran in the 29th minute and Chris Irving in the 71st minute. By the time the final whistle blew, both teams realized they would be going into extra time. Even with an extra half hour, though, neither team could take the lead, and fans across the nation found themselves on edge as the match went to into a penalty shootout. Ultimately, though, the better-ranked team prevailed, as Latimere's goalie managed to stop four out of Willingham's five shots, giving them the win with three shots in.

The final match of the day was the most convincing win of the day, but was nevertheless a riveting game. At West Tolten Park, West Tolten faced off against Fusba United. Throughout the game, West Tolten had an edge, though not until the last minute did the win seem out of reach for Fusba. West's first goal from midfielder Norm Bates didn't come until the 67th minute, following intense pressure and several shots on goal from all of their leading offensive players. The goal was followed, though, by a strong showing from Fusba, who had two balls bounce off the bar, and a third narrowly knocked away by West goalie Mark Rheinard. It wasn't until the 87th minute that a goal from West striker Hugh Lawrence put West on top for good. West Tolten will face off against Latimere United at the Peak Dome in Deska for their semifinal match.

As one final note, Bolsom Sport has managed to keep their spot in the GPL for next year following a close game against Inter-League Cup runner-up Basin Plain. Bolsom earned entry into the GPL via that very match last season, and they didn't maintain that position until the end of 4-3 penalty shootout following a brutal 120 minutes, in which the score was 2-2. If they want to keep their place again, Bolsom will likely have to do a significant amount of reorganization over the next year.

Gordonopia Cup First Round
Kaje Football 2–2 Gordonopia FC (3–2 AET)
Teva FC 1–2 FC Deska
Latimere United 2–2 Willingham AC (2–2 AET) (3–1 pen.)
West Tolten 2–0 Fusba United

Relegation Match
Basin Plain 2–2 Bolsom Sport (2–2 AET) (3–4 pen.)

Season 6- Part III- Matchdays 11-15

Note: Bold denotes leader after matchday

Matchday Eleven

Abo Abo 4–3 Cahrsinleh Devils
Outpost Pioneers 3–1 Northeastern
Mehnsihn Gladiators 2–0 Elcahnd Heat
Shared Land Freedom 1–1 FC Charge
Seendok Shells 2–1 Chahr North Stars
Shihn'Dohm Island FC 1–3 Arksin Football Club
Sho Athletic Club 5–2 Minelmeni Tigers
Mount T Ye T 1–1 FC Peniclado

Northeastern is shocked, but easily handled, by 16th-place Outpost Pioneers, as they go down 3-1. FC Charge is unable to capitalize, however, as they are forced to accept a draw with Shared Land Freedom.

Carmadin Shield-Silver Round, Leg 1

FC Lions 0–1 Athletic Carmadin FC
Sehndohn Province FC 3–2 South End
Borgo City 0–2 Vonto City United
Central FC 0–1 Ultimate
Chahr City 1–3 Sahmen FC
Chahr Senators 1–3 Ebo Island
Goose FSea 1–0 Victory
Island AFK 0–3 Sehndohn Storm
The Guard FC 0–0 Ahlehnt Isle
Chahr Nationals 1–2 Sahmen '44
Chahr United 4–0 Ocean Breakers AFC
Vonto Bears 2–0 Oberfk
Outpost Strait Sharks 5–1 Sitch Sports Club
Eastern FC 0–1 Shihn'Dohm Town
Sahmen Sting 2–5 Sportklub Palerma
Lipneh Town 4–2 Mountain FC

The Silver Round sees all lower-tier or Bronze League teams except Ahlehnt Isle fall at the hands of the Silver League teams. Ahlehnt holds The Guard FC to a nil-nil draw, and may, at this rate, be the only Bronze League team to go through to the Gold Round.

Matchday Twelve

Cahrsinleh Devils 2–2 FC Peniclado
Minelmeni Tigers 1–1 Mount T Ye T
Arksin Football Club 1–2 Sho Athletic Club
Chahr North Stars 1–0 Shihn'Dohm Island FC
FC Charge 5–2 Seendok Shells
Elcahnd Heat 1–1 Shared Land Freedom
Northeastern 1–1 Mehnsihn Gladiators
Abo Abo 3–0 Outpost Pioneers

Northeastern's lead now hangs by a fragile thread, as they draw with one of the teams chasing them, Mehnsihn Gladiators. Combine that with FC Charge's 5-2 thumping of the floundering Seendok Shells, and you get the first and fifth spots seperated by only three points.

Matchday Thirteen

Outpost Pioneers 0–1 Cahrsinleh Devils
Mehnsihn Gladiators 2–1 Abo Abo
Shared Land Freedom 0–2 Northeastern
Seendok Shells 3–0 Elcahnd Heat
Shihn'Dohm Island FC 1–0 FC Charge
Sho Athletic Club 1–0 Chahr North Stars
Mount T Ye T 1–0 Arksin Football Club
FC Peniclado 3–1 Minelmeni Tigers

Thirteen certainly is unlucky, at least if you're FC Charge. They fall, 1-0, at the hands of Shihn'Dohm Island FC, meaning that the main suprise of the season, Mehnsihn Gladiators, are nearly neck-and-neck with Northeastern as we head to the season's second half.

Carmadin Shield-Silver Round, Leg 2

Athletic Carmadin FC 2–1 FC Lions (3-1 agg.)
South End 2–0 Sehndohn Province FC (4-3 agg.)
Vonto City United 3–1 Borgo City (5-1 agg.)
Ultimate 3–1 Central FC (4-1 agg.)
Sahmen FC 1–0 Chahr City (4-1 agg.)
Ebo Island 1–0 Chahr Senators (4-1 agg.)
Victory 0–1 Goose FSea (0-2 agg.)
Sehndohn Storm 3–2 Island AFK (6-2 agg.)
Ahlehnt Isle 1–0 The Guard FC (1-0 agg.)
Sahmen '44 2–2 Chahr Nationals (4-3 agg.)
Ocean Breakers AFC 1–2 Chahr United (1-6 agg.)
Oberfk 1–4 Vonto Bears (1-6 agg.)
Sitch Sports Club 0–1 Outpost Strait Sharks (1-6 agg.)
Shihn'Dohm Town 3–0 Eastern FC (4-0 agg.)
Sportklub Palerma 4–1 Sahmen Sting (9-3 agg.)
Mountain FC 2–0 Lipneh Town (4-4 agg, 2-0 away goals)

Only two Bronze League teams advance to the Gold Round, and the matchups are set:
Seendok Shells-Athletic Carmadin FC (Silver)
Cahrsinelh Devils-South End (Bronze)
Sho Athletic Club-Vonto City United (Silver)
Shihn'Dohm Island FC-Ultimate (Silver)
Chahr North Stars-Sahmen FC (Silver)
Mount T Ye T-Ebo Island (Silver)
Abo Abo-Goose FSea (Silver)
Elcahnd Heat-Sehndohn Storm (Silver)
FC Peniclado-Ahlehnt Isle (Bronze)
Shared Land Freedom-Sahmen '44 (Silver)
FC Charge-Chahr United (Silver)
Arksin Football Club-Vonto Bears (Silver)
Mehnsihn Gladiators-Outpost Strait Sharks (Silver)
Minelmeni Tigers-Shihn'Dohm Town (Silver)
Northeastern-Sportklub Palerma (Silver)
Outpost Pioneers-Mountain FC (Silver)
Matchday Fourteen

Cahrsinleh Devils 3–3 Minelmeni Tigers
Arksin Football Club 0–3 FC Peniclado
Chahr North Stars 0–1 Mount T Ye T
FC Charge 1–3 Sho Athletic Club
Elcahnd Heat 0–0 Shihn'Dohm Island FC
Northeastern 2–1 Seendok Shells
Abo Abo 2–1 Shared Land Freedom
Outpost Pioneers 0–1 Mehnsihn Gladiators

In what is usually one of the most important derbies of the season, Northeastern has no trouble beating Seendok Shells, 2-1, to hold their lead. FC Charge begins a downward slide as well, as the drop, 3-1, to Sho Athletic Club.

Matchday Fifteen

Mehnsihn Gladiators 1–2 Cahrsinleh Devils
Shared Land Freedom 0–0 Outpost Pioneers
Seendok Shells 1–0 Abo Abo
Shihn'Dohm Island FC 1–1 Northeastern
Sho Athletic Club 3–0 Elcahnd Heat
Mount T Ye T 2–1 FC Charge
FC Peniclado 0–1 Chahr North Stars
Minelmeni Tigers 4–2 Arksin Football Club

Northeastern must settle for a draw with Shihn'Dohm Island, but Charge drops their third straight, meaning that as we head to the second half of the season, and the Carmadin Shield's Gold Round, the "Big Two", FC Charge and Seendok Shells, are sitting in seventh and eighth, respectively.

With only five losses, Armée is where most people predicted the top trained Kitsunes of the country would be at anyways.

Forces Aériennes vole à basse altitude(Forces Aériennes flies low)
Even though being the second-placed team of Ligue 1, Forces Aériennes isn't anywhere close of Armée de la Déesse. With only fifty-four points, Forces Aériennes have won only fifteen of the thirty-four games, drawing nine and losing ten. Even though with a hot feet on their team, Forces Aériennes still flies low on the hope of being Champions.

Un énorme gâchis de haut en bas(A Huge Mess from top to bottom.)
Thanks to the big number of games, as the Ligue 1 ends after a total of 68 matchdays, and also to the similarity between teams, if not considering the powerhouse named Armée de la Déesse and the cupcake team of Olympique Tequoville, everyone is at least, a little close together.

Une Coupe nationale? Pourquoi pas?(A National Cup? Why not?)
La Déesse announced that following her desires, Kitsunia-Deesse will also field a National Cup. The prize of the cup is still to be determined, but according to her, she believes that a format defined by La Déesse herself would fit in the style of the teams of the country. The format would also fit in the lack of relegation, since Kitsunia-Deesse does not have a Second Division.

Une coupe régionale pour les kitsunes de La Déesse(One Coupe League for the Kitsunes of La Déesse)
In regional news, the nations that form the Unzucneru Association decided to form a Regional Cup for their teams. Also, a ranking was developed currently by Math Teacher of the National University of Saint Anne and Jacob, Adele Odelizbe. According to her, "The ranks will be calculated on development of leagues and also international involvment, calculated from 1 (fully involved) to 0 (not involved at all.)." The Unzucneru Alliance football national rankings are:

Welcome, everyone, to the first ever Campeonato Andarahyano de Futebol! Eighteen teams will be playing in order to obtain a chance of playing at the Unzucneru Association Regional Cup and also a chance to move to new places!

Ups and Downs, who should and who should not surprise.
Favorites are Andarahy Clube, Nova Petrópolis, Raimundo Nonato and Sporting Fluminense. Andarahy Clube, nicknamed "O Time do Povo", is the oldest team on the nation, playing semi-pro football since 1990, making their debut enbracing themselves at green and white, the nation's colors. Nova Petrópolis uses one of the most unexpected combinations of colors in all time, Orange, Yellow and Black. Playing out of the city of Nova Petrópolis, the "Tricolor das Montanhas", is expected to surprise teams all over the country. Raimundo Nonato, named after a famous and important teacher, seems to be the star of happiness on the very high-tech area on the Northwest. In black and white, Raimundo Nonato plays softly and seems to obtain the eyes of many fans all around Andarahy. Last, but not least, the blue-and-white team of Sporting Fluminense could be considered a master-peace, when compared to most of the teams from its region, such as Sporting Flamengo, Jogalama and 15 de Março. A strong, competitive team, relies mostly on the passing game, should be setting in on the top of the leagues.
Running outside of the top competition, but around, we have São Mateus, playing in red and black, Caxias Futebol, playing in maroon and blue, Basco de Taubaté, playing in sky blue and white, Noviça de Andarahy, Iguaçu do Sul and Atlético Bangu, all playing in red and white.
Wooden-Spooner by antecipation, Jogalama shouldn't go anywhere far from the tenth position. And that's because of being positivist. Jogalama is the worst team of the competition according to newspapers, recieving somewhat of competition from São Caetano do Norte, Sporting Flamengo, 15 de Março, São Gabriel and Esportivo Dondon. Santa Lúcia and Duque de Santos corner that area up.

Andarahy's status at the Unzucneru Alliance Regional Cup
Andarahy, as well as Flock Nation, Midlothian Heart, Ultima Escolha, Scrap Brain Zone and Demonocracy of Metal shall send two teams to the Regional Cup. Dainer sends four teams. Capivara Group, Saint Anne and Jacob, Kitsunia-Deesse and Qlumez send three teams. And for last, Cilnotuz, Partick and Inverness Thistle, Duckota and Bisolandia send one team only.

Copa de Andarahy

Gordonopia Premier League
Gordonopia Cup 2013 Semi-Finals

As the nation prepares to move into the final matches of the 2013 Gordonopia Cup, it's time to recap the two semi-final matches that led us to this point.

The first of the two, the dual between Kaje Football and FC Deska, was a match that is fast becoming one of the most exciting matchups in United Gordonopia. The two teams have established themselves as the chief proponents of two opposite styles of play: Kaje with its top-heavy blitzing offense, Deska with its powerful, crushing defense. Throughout their five previous encounters, neither team has won by more than a single goal, and the teams were dead even with two wins a piece, plus a draw. Today's match turned out to be no different.

From the beginning, it was apparent that the match would be a long, edge-of-your-seat event. Within the first fifteen minutes, both teams created excellent chances that just barely fell short. Kaje Football's best early opportunity came in the 4th minute, when their dynamic duo of Keller and Galoslon managed to find a weak point in the Deska defense. Working off a Galoslon feed, Keller slipped past the only remaining Deska defender, before taking a close in shot against Deska captain and goalie Ludwig Strauss. The only thing that prevented the goal was the tip of Strauss' middle finger, which nudged the ball into the goal post, knocking it away.

Five minutes later, the tables were nearly turned. Working off an excellent stop by Deska back Roger Steiner, striker Martin Mallorn found an opening, and moved to receive the pass. Moments later, though, and after it seemed as if Steiner had a one-on-one situation against the Kaje goalie, the line referee called offsides. Unfortunately for Steiner, video footage showed him clearly onsides, however the ruling on the field was final.

For much of the game, the two team's dominant traits clearly showed through. Kaje dominated possession for much of the time, though the Deska defense was quick to shut down any breakthroughs or long passes. It wasn't until the 78th minute that Kaje's offense finally found a true break. After stopping a Deska counter-attack, midfielder Stephen Foch found himself with the ball, and with Deska midfielder Lane Franz fast closing in. Using brilliantly timed footwork, however, Foch managed to slip past the national team starter, and begin a drive for the goal. Driving up the right wing, Foch managed to slip past another Deska defensiveman, before finding a narrow opportunity for a cross. Capitalizing on the chance with perfect precision, the pass went flying into the box, where it was received and, without touching the ground, driven into the goal by attacking midfielder Roman Galoslon. With the Kaje side of the stadium erupting, Deska found itself in dire need of an equalizer. Unfortunately for them, that equalizer would not come, and when the final whistle blew, Kaje found itself poised to defend its Gordonopia Cup Title.

The second game was less a rivalry match, and more a duel between two teams who have battled for much of the season over the second and third place spots in the standings. Latimere United entered the game as part of its first GPL-era Gordonopia Cup, while West Tolten came off of a loss in the final last year. All of those thoughts were pushed aside, though, when the two squads took to the pitch, and the semi-final bout began.

West Tolten started the match out strong, with several early chances, and a goal in the 17th minute by striker James Royce. Following the goal, Tolten continued to press its advantage, though it couldn't quite get the ball into the net. By the end of the half, the game had become a back and forth affair, with neither team gaining the upper-hand.

When the the two sides returned to the pith, though, the Tolten players appeared to have regained their fire. A near deflection off the crossbar from Royce was followed up immediately by a bicycle kick from attacking midfielder Norm Bates, which knocked the ball cleanly into the upper left corner for a 51st minute goal. At that point, though, a subtle shift in momentum seemed to occur. Ten minutes later, Latimere star and golden boot winner Gordon Brink found himself with the ball following a successful slide tackle, and immediately began advancing towards the goal. A pair of Tolten defenders, Lyndon Beck and Abel Schindler, attempted to corner him, but the skillful Brink managed to slip through, and found himself one on one with the goalie. With his characteristic precision, Brink took quick aim, and knocked the ball cleanly into the left corner of the net.

From there, the game was all Latimere, and all Brink. After several near-misses, the Latimere native was brought down in the box, and converted the penalty kick in the 76th minute. Soon after, Brink received an excellent cross from midfielder Robert Spears, and proceeded to add another goal, earning himself the hat trick and also shutting down any doubts of whether or not he deserved the golden boot. Following that 82nd minute goal, West was unable to answer, and when the referee finally called time, the Latimere side knew that they were headed to the finals.

The final two matches are sure to be exciting fixtures. Deska and West will face off at Iron Harbor Stadium for third place in what is sure to be a thriller. Even more exciting will be the Latimere-Kaje match at Empire Stadium. The two teams have been bitter rivals since long before the era of the GPL, or even their entrance into the old GFA during the days of the Republic, and with the two best strikers in the league facing off, the nation could be treated to a hugely energetic affair.

Semi-Final Matches
Kaje Football 1–0 FC Deska
Latimere United 3–2 West Tolten

Gordonopia Premier League
Gordonopia Cup 2013 Finals

With the final matches of Gordonopia Cup 2013 now concluded, the new champions of Gordonopian football have been crowned: Latimere United has overcome the defending champions to take their first GPL-era crown.

The final match took place before a sellout crowd of 122,000 at Empire Stadium, with hundreds of thousands attending pre-game celebrations. It is estimated that 32% of the nation watched the full game, with perhaps double that number viewing the game at some point.

Following the performance of the Imperial Anthem, the game began. Kaje started with possession, but initially, both team's sweeping offenses crashed against the other's defense, resulting in no clear chances. Uncharacteristically, the first real opportunity for a goal did not come until the 17th minute, following a pass from Latimere midfielder Abner Warner to striker Jonathon Churchill in the box. The resulting kick rocketed towards the goal, and was only knocked away by a close deflection from Kaje back Iln Njarin.

The game opened up for the rest of the half, with each team getting multiple close chances and near misses. However, neither was able to put the ball in the net, and by the time the squads left the pitch for the half, the score was still even at 0-0.

Initially, the second half played out much like the end of the first, with neither team able to gain the upper hand. Following a very unclear offsides call against Kaje star striker Vonn Keller, though, the defending champions appeared to become slightly frustrated. In the 61st minute, Latimere put the ball back into play, but as midfielder Georg Grant started moving the ball upfield, he was brought down by a vicious slide tackle from Kaje back Davis Wilkins. The play resulted in a yellow card for Wilkins, and a set piece for Latimere twenty-five meters out of the box.

Surprisingly, though, Latimere decided to go big, and took the long free kick into the box, where several Latimere players were waiting. After bouncing off the head of Latimere midfielder Robert Spears, golden boot winner, and hero of the semifinals, Gordon Brink took a bicycle kick, and succeeded in hammering the ball past Spears and into the goal.

With that 63rd minute goal, Latimere took the lead 1-0, and never looked back. Rather than shift to a defensive posture, a move that would be dangerous against the powerful Kaje offense, Latimere continued to press, and for the remainder of the game, the ball was constantly moved up and down the field, with neither team managing to score again. Despite some painfully close shots by Kaje players in the final minutes, Latimere managed to hold its lead, and when the final whistle blew, Latimere United became the 2013 Gordonopian champion. In the ensuing celebration, Gordon Brink was named Man of the Match and, with head coach Jason Klein, was passed the Gordonopia Cup by the chairman of the GPL.

Before the final match, FC Deska played West Tolten for third place at Iron Harbor Stadium in Teva. The game ended up being a radical departure from Deska's typical style of play. Although the defense remained solid, with the only Tolten goal coming in the 88th minute following the subbing-out of several starting defensive players, Deska's offense played better than it has the entire season. Four goals were scored, two from striker Martin Mallorn in the 32nd and 69th minutes, one from midfielder Heike Kranz in the 17th minute, and one from back Roger Steiner in the 26th minute. The win marked Deska's second consecutive third place finish.

The Holy Empire of Midlothian Heart's soccer professional league starts its first season, following its allignment at the Unzucneru Association. Sixteen teams face off in order to be called Midlothian Heart's Champion. Favorites are as usual, Connery Sport and SC Midlothian, two teams that played the Regional Leagues play-offs at the Northern Sunrise Islands' soccer system. A third team, considered also a surprising favorite, Hearts, has also sprung up at the league. Other minor favorites are Burley Swifts, FC Kaunas and Romanov Athletic, meanwhile the rest of the teams are in the same level.

16 FC Kaunas 30 7 9 14 33 53 −20 30
Top 2 Teams qualify for the Unzucneru Association Regional League.

One of the most unexpected outcomes ever as we reach Matchday 30. Hearts, appointed as a surprise favorite, and the normal Oldlands Celtic keeps second place at the table. SC Midlothian, Borthwick Albion, McDonald Snakes and Romanov Athletic corner the area, as SC Midlothian has also done their job as a favorite, placing third. Burley Swifts, Connery Sport and FC Kaunas keep disapointing, specially FC Kaunas, who is the wooden-spoonist around, three points behind East Midlothia.

Saint Anne and Jacob made great progress as of late on soccer, such as the success recently obtained by player Zaguba Zagranewba and also the U-20 Shrimps team at NSICA. So, now that the nations of the Unzucneru Association started making leagues, Saint Anne and Jacob couldn't miss such oportunity, thus creating the A-League. The said to be most favorite teams are Saints, Institute of Soccer, Jacobine Athletic, Reno FC and Nevada.

WESTERN CUBAN NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM
Coach and Players Interested in Signing with International Clubs

Attention! Below are a coach and players on the national team seeking to sign with international clubs. If you are interested please send me a telegram.

Assistant Coach: Esteban Reyes after serving as assistant coach to Anatoly Markin for the Havana City Titans and the National Team is interested in becoming a manager for an international club. Reyes is interested in almost any club, however though is more of an offensive minded coach.

Fullback: Maximino Martinez is currently at the prime of his career right now. Before the Copa Rushmori he finished up his last season on his contract with the Havana City Titans. Now Martinez is looking to sign with an international club.

Central Midfielder: Alberto Perez used to have the reputation of being a hot head and was kicked off the Nueva Gerona Bullets. However though Perez's reputation has improved throughout Copa Rushmori and World Cup qualifying play. His play has improved also, WCSL teams have not sought interest in Perez. However though if an international club signs him they might get a real bargain of a player.

Winger: Tito Moreno has finished up the final year of his contract. His last season was also with the Havana City Titans. A large part of the national team plays for the Titans. Moreno is probably the one that stands out the most though. Moreno will put up big numbers for whatever club signs him.

Kaje Football will be the highest priority qualifier in the Globe Cup, having won the regular season and placed second in the Gordonopia Cup. FC Deska and West Tolten have also qualified for the Globe Cup.

New to this season, the Gordonopia Football Federation will enter teams into the Series B Championship. The four teams entered shall be the four semi-finalists, including the winner and runner up, of the Inter-League Cup, contested by the winners of the eight second-tier regional leagues to determine promotion to the GPL.

Globe Cup
Kaje Football - Regular Season Champion*
FC Deska - Gordonopia Cup Third Place
