Condemn The Security Council
A resolution to express shock and dismay at a nation or region.

Category: Condemnation
Nominee: The Security Council
Proposed by: Mad Sheep Railgun

Description: The World Assembly;

NOTING the establishment, in June 2009, of the World Assembly Security Council;

FURTHER NOTING that the establishment of said council was accompanied by the introduction of new Resolution categories which affect gameplay;

SADDENED that the introduction of these new Resolution categories has spread rancor and ill-will throughout the NationStates Multiverse;

APPALLED that anyone would name a Region after such a troublesome entity;

HEREBY condemns The Security Council.

^This and a billion other proposals using the same 'loophole' have been submitted. It's not like the mods didn't know about this 'loophole'.

But anyway, my region is a region I founded a very short time ago, so it has a short history, and it has been raided once already (by Wutco. So, we've had a shakey start. I don't see what's wrong with this draft...

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but that's not quite the same. Mad Sheep Railgun's proposal actually mentions it's target, which is The Security Council the region. Sure, it mentions The Security Council the WA branch in the proposal but it tries to use it to justify a condemnation against you.

My only issue with your proposal is that it seems like a complete bait-and-switch using name recognition. The proposal doesn't mention anything having to do with you, the region, but nevertheless your the target. At least in Mad Sheep Railgun's proposal he makes that distinction. Does that make it right? That's debatable, and to be honest I don't really want to debate it, but at least in that regard it makes it less, well, wrong.

Wouldn't condemning it be better symbolism?

Yeah, the quest for symbolism and making a statement kind of gets pushed to the wayside when it involves putting a black mark on the record of your own region.

Can someone explain to the delegate of La Nueva Roma just what this resolution seeks to do?

"Liberate" the Security Council? How, exactly?

In basic technical terms, it would prevent delegates of The Security Council from imposing a password on that region.

However, in reality, the resolution is there to guage support for this suggestion.

As declared in that thread, I am fully behind this idea.

I vote for the liberation of my region! 8)

BTW, we aren't planning to ever repeal this if it passes are we? I don't mind, I'd just rather not waste the SC time, and as the only naitive of more than a month...

Repealing it would be a terrible idea, under any circumstances.

Masturbation's fun and all, but five days? Spending that long discussing how clever a gaming of the system this is seems a little pointless.

It’s not really a gaming of the system so much as a gauge of support for the idea. From what I remember of the Technical thread that lead to this, one of the admins was wondering how many people actually supported the idea.

Mmm, but it's a pretty inaccurate gauge: unlike in a thread, one has no way of knowing why someone is supporting this. Wouldn't the telegrams have been better deployed enlisting people to post agreement to the Technical thread?

Quod's right, this isn't a very good gauge. But it doesn't need to be.

The admins have already agreed to the idea, though if this goes through, it will definitely cushion them from future complaints.

Mostly, the proposal's just a good way to transition the WA from semi-separated, to divided with different organs, by using an in-character approach.
