IUBC Review
The Icemark's first foray into international club basketball was met with much controversy. Many of the visiting teams to our nation complained about having to play on rundown outside courts. Some even blamed losses suffered on our soils on the conditions of the courts.
The Icemark's teams performances were surprising. Bendis, who finished 4th in the League and were beaten convincinly in the Play/Offs made it the furthest with a shock run to the Last 16, while Champions Frostmarris didn't get past the premlinary stage. Learton also made it to the Group stage but only recorded one win once there. The Icemark has entered the nation coefficients in 10th place, while Bendis are ranked 14th in the Club rankings

League Season Review
Learton became the championship winners in an amazing second season of club basketball. They dominated the early stages and were neck and neck in the league with Frostmarris, before a disasterous ending to the season which saw them suffer five defeats in seven games meant they only just made the play offs. The Play Off series saw them have to compete against league winners, Frostmarris in the semi-finals. With their form so abysmal their opponents came in as the overwhelming favourites. The series ended up being the greatest this nation has ever seen. Learton narrowly lost the first game at Frostmarris in overtime in no doubtly the best match of the season, before leveling the series with a convincing display at home. Both sides won their next two home games comfortably tieing the series at 3-3. Learton had to win in Frostmarris to reach the final. No one was expecting them too, but they proved the critics wrong with a fantastic display.
Learton now had to meet Bendis in the final, who had just come through a 4-3 epic semi-final win over Old Haven themselves. The final series would go back and forth, and whilst it wasn't as dramatic as their semi-final it went the whole seven games. Learton prevailed in the end with a fantastic win in Bendis to become the come-back kings of Basketball.
Bendis wouldn't finish the season empty-handed however, as they would lift The Icemark Shield knock out tournament for the second successive season defeating Bolby in the final. Other notable talking points of the season were Allenby's run to the Shield semi-finals and Barrowbys recovery from losing their opening six league games.

Season 2 has ended, and though the White Diamonds seized the playoff win last season, the Kangutsu Blues showed that they have the most consistant team of all to win the regular season – again! They got 67 points, which is 10 more than the Dominators in 2nd place. After that, it becomes close: Ka Uin, 55 points, White Diamonds, 54 points, then 52, 51, 49 and 48. The top eight, which qualifies for the playoffs, is the same as last season. You could expect that there is an enormous gap between teams, but it is not that bad: place 9 has 45 points, so basically only one win short of a playoff place. In tenth place, the Lions have 42 points, yet their PD is +78, which is better than three out of the eight playoff teams. Now, the playoffs are as follows:

The Blues beat the eighth placed Blizzards, yet it was a relatively low-scoring game. The difference was only 7 points, smallest of all differences of the four playoff games. The Aj Uin Elves, seventh place, beat the 2nd placed Dominators by some distance, and again confirmed their reputation as team that suddenly boosts their power in the playoffs, though it was not clear that the team even played playoffs with such a low ranking. The Tazers did what they had to, and beat the Lords in the highest scoring game of the playoff round one. In the last match, the White Diamonds confirmed their playoff status too. They gave the Giants no chance, though the difference could have been bigger.

In the second round, the Blues and the White Diamonds won: the playoff final will be the same as last season. The ‘victims’, the Tazers and the Elves, did all they could, but were unable to stop the two strongest teams of the league. Will the Blues give another win to the White Diamonds, so that both teams win a prize this season around too, or will the Blues confirm their status as best team in the league and go for total domination to win both the regular season and the playoffs?

The Blues were playing as if they were from a different planet in the playoff final! They showed their worth 82-58 in the final, where the White Diamonds were portrayed as schoolchildren by the superior Kangutsu Blues. The difference in this match is bigger than any other in the playoffs – the Kangutsu Blues win their third prize out of four possible prizes (regular season, s1 and s2, playoffs s1 and s2)!

The Basketball associations of 5 Rushmori nations, Fidishwa, Svendogardd, Elmonia, The Enornkian Isthmus, and The Allakameni Isles, are proud to present the Uniòn League. The five nations, for all of whom basketball is a minority sport, will each enter twelve clubs.

The regular season will see each team play 88 games, playing every other team three times at home, three times away, and twice in the host nation.

POSTSEASON
The Postseason consists of three events. The Regular Season Championship, which takes place first, the National Championship, and The Championship Playoffs.
The Regular Season Championship sees the 5 winners of each division play in a single-round robin. The victor will be crowned Regular Season Champions, and earn a berth in the IUBC.
The National Championship sees the best-placed team from each nation play in a single round-robin. The victor earns an IUBC berth

The Championship Playoffs see 25 teams compete for the Uniòn League title. The top 2 teams in each division recive byes to the Round of Sixteen, or Championship Playoffs Proper.
The next 2 teams in each division enter into the Qualification Round.
The 5th-place teams in each division play in the Wild-Card round.

The Wild-Card round is a single-round-robin, held at a neutral venue. The 2 best teams will move on into the Qualification Round.
The 12-team qualification round (10 3rd-and-4th-placed teams + 2 Wild-Card winners) sees the teams matched against each other in best-of-five series. The first team to win three games advances to the Round of Sixteen
The Round of Sixteen (10 1st-and-2nd-placed teams + 6 Qualification winners) sees the teams matched in Best-of-Seven series.

The tournament continues in best-of-seven knockout to the final.

Free South Califas leagues can get a little out of hand, with communities federating autonomously to put schedules and tables. These tables are limited only by the amount of community interest, any labor shortage in agriculture, and the number of professionally dedicated athletes available in the sport. Outdoor sports like baseball, gridiron, soccer and tennis enjoy immense popularity, with climates ranging from warm and mild to hot and dry, ensuring that most South Califans can enjoy their pastimes all year round. The only imposition on the league table is that any federally recognized league must represent all Ten Counties, though there is no requirement that they be represented equally.

Rugby union has 10 teams, hockey 28, gridiron 36, football 40 and baseball 48. But all of those teams combined could barely equal the 104 who signed up for the basketball league. A long tradition of California basketball has survived the revolution, stronger than ever. To cut down on expenses, the Sporting Committee divided them into a North Division and a South Division and had them all square off within division to settle a paid, professional A-League and an amateur community B-League.

NATIONAL BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Season number three of the BANBC has arrived! Though attendance numbers took a sharp dip since the honeymoon period for the sport of basketball has reached an end, teams did their best to maintain interest. The Urajbina Purple Frogs, for instance, took the arguably drastic step of unleashing a plague of actual frogs upon its own teams during a halftime ceremony, while the Zanduznyy Archers held an 'Are You An Archer?' fan contest that resulted in one old lady dying of an arrow shot through her head. These publicity stunts have either tarnished or glorified the BANBC's image; it's difficult to tell which.

Whatever, though. A season of basketball still technically happened, so we'll give you the full run-down. Remember that the season takes place over two calendar years (which is why the same teams participated in the IUBC competition last season). Following this insanely long 140-game regular season, playoffs are held to determine an overall champion. The four teams that reach the semifinals of that tournament get the international places.

Well, would you look at that. We did in fact have an upset between the 2 and 3 seeds, meaning that we've got a final between the only two Kagdaz sides that made it into the tournament, Greyhounds and Internationals. It's a fitting matchup, since the two teams represent the two largest cities in their country, Gelendzhik and Dyurtyuli, respectively. Who will fare better in the ultimate series? Well, when the two were paired in the semifinals of last season's edition, Internationals surprisingly came out on top. Could we see a similar result here? Oh, and yeah, there's a third-place playoff to see what order the last two are in for the IUBC blurb:

Congratulations, though, to the Gelendzhik Greyhounds, despite having rather despicable right-wing supporters are thoroughly deserving winners of the third-ever BetAvalanche.kpz National Basketball Championship! Further (but lesser) congratulations to the Dyurtyuli Internationals, the Urajbina Purple Frogs, and the Pkethat Šede Quasars, who finished second, third, and fourth, respectively.

With seventeen associations participating, and six new nations, the IUBC keeps growing. It will still have a group stage of 32 teams in 8 groups, and henceforth the field must be trimmed from sixty-nine teams to thirty-two teams. This, for the first time, requires that there be two preliminary rounds, named the Preliminary Round and the Qualification Round.

Civil Citizenry, Taeshan, and Falconfar, as the top three associations, qualified their champions into the Group Stage automatically, along with the Trewich Urbanites, last year's champions. This left sixty-five teams to have to play for twenty-eight spots. The six new associations will have to send their third and fourth placed teams to the Preliminary Round, while the next six lowest associations (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu, Yesopalitha, The Icemark, Cotdelapoms, Saugeais, and Filopines, in no order) will have to send one team each to the Preliminary Round. All the rest of the teams will have to play in the Qualification Round.
