Considering that the playoff semi finals featured two hard-fought series between seemingly evenly matched teams, pundits and boffins all over predicted a 6 or 7 game Cotdelapoms Series- they couldn't have been more wrong. There were a pair of intense pitching duels (including game 3's historic Randy Blackman vs. Jean-Baptiste Gagné clash), but the series is perhaps more noteable for the Als' bats blowing up in game 2. Historically mediocre second baseman Alain Duberry will go down in Cotdelapomais baseball history for putting in perhaps the greatest performance in Cotdelapoms Series history, going 6-6 at the plate, hitting for a cycle and also stealing a base.

After Sehndohn Province Pros were losing finalists in the Club Champion's Cup twice in a row, it was decided that the current format needed a bit more fairnes. Some of the leagues were amazingly low-scoring and close, while some were blowouts.
To combat this, the CML is proud to announce that a new format will be announced, with all 32 teams playing each other four times, twice home and twice away. The best 10 teams will enter the Playoffs, with the best 2 teams recieving byes to the semifinals, the next 2 teams recieving byes to the quarterfinals, the next 2 teams byes to the qualifying round, and the remaining four competing in the first round. The CCS (Carmadin Championship Series) will be best-of-seven, as will the Semifinals. The Quarterfinals will be best-of-five, and the Qualifcation and Classification rounds best-of-three.

We are also pleased to announce the Carmadin Minor League, a 16-team lower teir league. The 3 worst teams in the CML this season will be relegated to the CmiL, and the 3 best teams in the minor league will go up to the major.

[Aels]

Baseball is a developing sport in both Aels and Ancharmunn, and although sport is usually devolved to both nations, the baseball authorities in both countries agreed to join forces to form a national Tynealan baseball league. Based on this agreement, Aels and Ancharmunn will participate internationally (and be represented internationally) as Tyneala, which is a first for sport in both nations.

The domestic league is known as Celtic Union League Baseball, made up of 20 teams — six Charmunnry and 14 Aelsh. The six Charmunnry teams play in a single division with the designated hitter rule; the 14 Aelsh teams are split geographically into the Western, Central and Eastern Divisions and play without the DH. There is no inter-league play until the playoff final, known as the Tyneala Championship.

[The Icemark]

Baseball is a minor sport in The Icemark with a small but respectable following. The inugarul year of the league expected the well-funded teams like Frostmarris and Bendis to secure the first title. But Crawsby, who came in as 9th favourites at the beginning of the year, surprised everyone with a phenomenal run to the League title. Unfortunatley their amazing run didn't continue into the play/off series. Despite a phenomenal series of games in a semi-final victory over Frostmarris, they were beaten comfortably in the final series by Bendis
Crawsby couldn't do the league and shield double as well, as they were eliminated in the opening round of the Shield to eventual winners, Barrowby. Barrowby took Frostmarris's spot in the BCCC as a result of their truimph.

The Third Baseball Club Champions Cup

This year's BCCC will consist of a preliminary round of 4 teams chosen at random to narrow the field to 24 teams to qualify. Then, two qualifying rounds will further trim that field down to 6, who will then by placed into the First Round proper with the other 26 teams to who have automatically advanced, giving a field of 32 teams. The proper rounds will then be played by drawing random matches each round until we crown a champion in the Final Round. All rounds will be contested in a best-of-3 series, except the Final Round which will be played in a best-of-5 series.

Most of the divisional winners repeated--close as always in the Northeast, though the winners there were still under .500. The best record, however, belonged to the Mustangs in what seemed a return to the glory days of old. At the other end of the table, Steadman Aswin failed to, um, help the Gray Sox steadily win; his compatriot would have a better season in a tough West division that saw even the worst team break even. Ah, the joys of a divisional system...The Rainmakers and the Tigers won the divisional series in four games each, and the Rainmakers won the championship in five.

The Icemark Baseball Season Review II

No one expected Crawsby to repeat their feat of the previous season in winning the League trophy, but most thought they wouldn't have any problem making the play-off series. But they had a poor season with only eight victories mean't they were always playing catch-up though, and only finished 9th overall. However, the stand-out performers of the Champions Cup will be performing once again as they handed Barrowby a taste of their own medicine by qualifing via The Icemark Shield with a shock victory over Frostmarris
The League trophy always looked like it was Frostmarris. Despite Learton and Bendis plying on the pressure throughout the season, Frostmarris always looked in control and pulled away in the last six weeks to win by three victories.
It was enevitable the two dominant league teams would meet in the Play-Off Final,and no surprise at how comfortably the form team Frostmarris defeated defending champions Bendis. At the end of the season Frostmarris suffered just four defeats; 1 in the league, 1 in the cup and 2 in the play-offs.

As noted in my WBC 22 roster post and in another thread, the Allamunnic Baseball Federation is currently defunct as a professional league (it has fallen to a semi-pro league). As a result, there are many Allamunnic baseball players currently out of work, and who would be willing to start at the bottom of foreign farm systems for a chance at having a proper job again.
