The big guns enter the Latitude Cup in round one, and though shocks were unfortunately in scarce supply, there were a few matches of interest that are well worth talking about. For a start, Surtsey showed absolutely no mercy to their lower league opponents whatsoever, taking Hans Island Pioneers apart in a 7-1 drubbing. Axel Heiburg handed out a similarly harsh punishment, beating Viking 5-0 away from home, whilst Scapa Bay put some of their league worries behind them momentarily with a win of the same scoreline over Steffansson Island FC. SK had to come from behind twice to win 3-2, as Nasjonale Hauker gave the reigning champions a huge scare in the capital, and then had time to laugh at cross-town rivals East Franz Athletic being put out of the competition by SK Aasiaat Harbour. Aasiaat might be flying high in Divisjon Two, but this still counts as an upset. As does Waldenøya Bears putting out Atammik Zenith in penalties.
MATCHDAY 11
East Franz Athletic 1-1 FC Torshavn
Islay Town Mechanical 2-2 SK Franz Josef City
Red Star Severny 0-1 North Star Grímsey
Atammik Zenith FK 4-0 Scapa Bay Rovers
Jan Mayen Islanders 2-4 FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls
FC Solovetsky Monastery 1-3 FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla
FC Axel Heiburg 2-2 FC Cape St Paul
Northbrook Diamonds FK 1-0 Yuzhny Equinox FC
A day of draws for the top teams in the division today, as East Franz are held to a 1-1 draw at home by a hard-working Torshavn side that seem unwilling to relinquish their spot at the top just yet, Osic and Berghoff the scorers. St Paul travelled to Axel Heiburg, and despite two goals of their own from Mackenzie, were held to a draw after the home side struck back in the second half in the form of Wahlfleurs and Goldwin. SK were victims of another draw, Islay Town racing into a 2-0 lead before goals from Irndtor and Kjaer sealed the game back up for SK, but Jan Mayen failed to capitalise on this stalling from their rivals, losing 4-2 at home to a Surtsey side that is looking in fine form at the moment.
MATCHDAY 12
SK Franz Josef City 1-5 East Franz Athletic

FC Cape St Paul 1-2 Jan Mayen Islanders
Yuzhny Equinox FC 4-1 FC Solovetsky Monastery
Northbrook Diamonds FK 2-1 FC Axel Heiburg
Well, that is one of the most unusual Elfsteijn derbies that I've seen in a while. Diedrich Kvitchenko, take a bow. The promising youngster scored an impressive four goals past the defence of SK today, leaving fans worshipping at his feet. In what was otherwise a fairly evenly fought game, Henning Tir scored against his former team, whilst Del Nieran scored for SK. Atammik Zenith continue to struggle, losing 6-1 to an average looking Bjarnarey side, whilst fellow strugglers FC Solovetsky Monastery were also beaten comfortably by Yuzhny Equinox in a result that must have stung. Lester Kendrick scores for Surtsey, but finds himself on the losing side as the Gulls are stunned 2-1 at home by Red Star Severny.
MATCHDAY 13
East Franz Athletic 3-1 North Star Grímsey
SK Franz Josef City 2-1 Scapa Bay Rovers
FC Torshavn 2-2 FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls
Islay Town Mechanical 4-5 FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla
Red Star Severny 2-0 FC Cape St Paul
Atammik Zenith FK 1-1 Yuzhny Equinox FC
Jan Mayen Islanders 4-1 Northbrook Diamonds FK
FC Solovetsky Monastery 4-1 FC Axel Heiburg
Also getting in on the big goal haul action is Muño Valcárcel of Jan Mayen Islanders, scoring a hat trick as the Ospreys surge past Northbrook Diamonds. Amaechi Olsen scored the other goal for Jan Mayen, and Hjalmar Knudsen scored in his 50th appearance for the Diamonds. There were good wins for both the Franz Josef clubs, and Solovetsky stunned Axel Heiburg 4-1 at home, but the biggest match of the say came from Terra Scotia, where Islay Town come out the worse in a 9 goal thriller with Bjarnarey - Saugeais defender Frodi Rasmussen scoring the winner for Bjarnarey in injury time.
MATCHDAY 14
Scapa Bay Rovers 0-3 East Franz Athletic
FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls 2-1 North Star Grímsey
FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla 0-4 SK Franz Josef City
FC Cape St Paul 3-0 FC Torshavn
Yuzhny Equinox FC 1-1 Islay Town Mechanical
Northbrook Diamonds FK 0-1 Red Star Severny
FC Axel Heiburg 0-2 Atammik Zenith FK
FC Solovetsky Monastery 0-4 Jan Mayen Islanders
Bjarnarey concede four for the second matchday in a row, but this time can't follow them up with any goals of their own, as the SK defence holds steady in Norscelt to record a 4-0 victory - goals from Legeren, Ormache, Irndtor, and Meolans. Jan Mayen can do anything SK can do this season, something that Madison Garroway has been saying a lot to players that were brought down by last season, and they certainly showed it here, scoring four goals of their own away at Solovestsky.
MATCHDAY 15
East Franz Athletic 1-1 FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls
Scapa Bay Rovers 1-0 FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla
North Star Grímsey 1-1 FC Cape St Paul

FC Torshavn 0-2 Northbrook Diamonds FK
Islay Town Mechanical 2-5 FC Axel Heiburg
Red Star Severny 2-0 FC Solovetsky Monastery
Atammik Zenith FK 1-1 Jan Mayen Islanders
The team that wins 4-0 should be expected to do a bit better here than drawing 1-1 against Atammik Zenith, right? Wrong. Mikkel Hanglena dthe unfortunate layer who unusually netted at both ends during the same match for Jan Mayen. Goldiwin has really struck up a good relationship with his fellow players here at Axel Heiburg, a case accentuated by the result of today's match, a 5-2 win all the way down in Terra Scotia where all of the goals had something to with with either Goldwin, Huystpurr, or Wahlfleurs. East Franz and Surtsey share the spils in an enterntainingin 1-1 draw, whilst SK squeak past Yuzhny 1-0 thanks to a Robin Hjik piledriver.

Lokomotiv Barentsberg 1-1 Yuzhny Equinox FC (1-1 AET, 3-0 PKs)
That's what cup football is all about. Two drubbings (for FC Torshavn and Scapa Bay Rovers over Melville Celtic and McAvery Centurions, respectively), a couple of upsets (Red Star beating Jan Mayen 3-2 in their own backyard), and plenty of drama (Bjarnarey needing penalties to see off Surtsey, and a last minute extra time goal for SK Sturm Rässinger 76 sees them beat Royal NK Sikjonek 2-1.
MATCHDAY 16
FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla 0-1 East Franz Athletic

Henning Blonqvist might not be in the Terns squad this time around, but the boy can't half still play football. One masterful moment and too was space was all that was required for him to score possibly the goal of the season to sink the Flotilla in a tense game. Valcárcel and Krivac net for Jan Mayen but they still find themselves falling 4-2 at home to Islay Town Mechanical in the day's shock result. SK showed no signs of going easy on Axel Heiburg, as goals from Ormache and a rare one for Cafundulense defender Bobo sink the Haapa-Mechelin reliant side.
MATCHDAY 17
East Franz Athletic 2-0 FC Cape St Paul
FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla 2-2 Yuzhny Equinox FC

SK Franz Josef City 0-0 Jan Mayen Islanders
FC Torshavn 1-1 Atammik Zenith FK
Islay Town Mechanical 1-1 Red Star Severny
Another loss for Axel Heiburg, this time away to Scapa Bay, and despite goals for Huytspurr and Goldwin their fans will be worried about their form now, surely. A potential title deciding six pointed goes the way of East Franz at the Rendahl, goals from Berghoff and Kvitchenko sinking FC Cape St Paul.Surtsey continue to pick up the points in difficult circumstances however - driven perhaps by the prennially underrated Casper Baek. How that guy hasn't got more caps for the Terns I'll never know, but his two assists helped Van Enna, Kendrick, and Novak to goals that sunk the Diamonds today. More important visitors to the Landstadt for SK, and this time they hold steady, battling with Jan Mayen to an engaging 0-0 draw.
MATCHDAY 18
Yuzhny Equinox FC 0-1 East Franz Athletic
Northbrook Diamonds FK 0-3 FC Cape St Paul
FC Axel Heiburg 1-1 FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla
FC Solovetsky Monastery 0-4 FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls
Jan Mayen Islanders 4-0 Scapa Bay Rovers
Atammik Zenith FK 1-1 North Star Grímsey
Red Star Severny 1-1 SK Franz Josef City
Islay Town Mechanical 3-1 FC Torshavn
Back to scoring ways for both teams though, as Valcárcel, Krivac and Litremmen put away for Jan Mayen at home to Scapa Bay, whilst an Ormache goal is cancelled out by a contentious equaliser away to Red Star Severny, meaning SK only pick up the point. Red Star fans are bound to be happy with their teams performance so far this season however. Other teams winning strongly on the day are FC Cape St Paul, with Nao and Mackenzie teaming up to devastating results away at Northbrook, and four more goals for the impressive Surtsey Island Gulls. Torshavn lose 3-1 away at Islay Town, and maybe their early season form is just slipping away a little now.
MATCHDAY 19
East Franz Athletic 1-1 Northbrook Diamonds FK
Yuzhny Equinox FC 0-1 FC Axel Heiburg
FC Cape St Paul 3-1 FC Solovetsky Monastery
FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla 0-5 Jan Mayen Islanders
FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls 2-1 Atammik Zenith FK
Scapa Bay Rovers 2-2 Red Star Severny
North Star Grímsey 2-1 Islay Town Mechanical
SK Franz Josef City 1-1 FC Torshavn
Or maybe not. SK drop yet more points, but it is Torshavn who attract the plaudits, coming away from the Landstadt with a very creditable 1-1 draw after Osic's overhead kick cancelled out Legeren's opener for SK. East Franz also draw in the capital, with Northbrook having one of their "difficult" days that the top teams hate them for, Knudsen and Blonqvist the scorers. Brandt scores two goals for North Star as they attempt to drive themselves back up the table and away from this mess they've got themselves in, whilst Soreasu, Nao, and Juaren Chueran net for St Paul at home to Solovetsky. Valcárcel hits a hat trick for Jan Mayen in Bjarnarey, accompanied by goals from Eygenroy and Bosc.
MATCHDAY 20
FC Axel Heiburg 1-1 East Franz Athletic
FC Solovetsky Monastery 2-2 Northbrook Diamonds FK
Jan Mayen Islanders 3-1 Yuzhny Equinox FC
Atammik Zenith FK 1-2 FC Cape St Paul
Red Star Severny 2-2 FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla
Islay Town Mechanical 0-2 FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls
FC Torshavn 3-2 Scapa Bay Rovers
SK Franz Josef City 1-0 North Star Grímsey
Final round of fixtures we'll have a look at before taking a break and checking out the tables, and there are some interesting ones up there. North Star thought they've won at SK, only to have their goal ruled out for offside, fairly as it turned out later, but SK scored when half the North Star team was running towards the linesman to contest the decision. Ormache looked almost embarrassed as he beat the keepr easily, and who could blame him. Wahlfleurs and Kvitchenko score as Axel Heiburg and East Franz share the spoils of a point each, and Jan Mayen keep pace with a 3-1 win over Yuzhny. There were also wins at the top for FC Torshavn, Surtsey Island Gulls, and FC Cape St Paul.
LATITUDE CUP Round Three
Scapa Bay Rovers 1-0 RSK Longyearbyen Town
FC Torshavn 2-0 SK Franz Josef City
SK Sturm Rässinger 76 1-0 1. RC de Velcosta Cliffs

Franz Josef Sharks 1-1 AC Aleutia Volcanoes (1-1 AET, 0-2 PKs)
Red Star Severny 2-1 SK Aasiaat Harbour
FC Axel Heiburg 4-3 FC Cape St Paul
Another round of the Latitude Cup swings around, and with a place in the quarter finals at stake, the teams were sure to give their all. The main shock of the day would be seeing FC Torshavn knock out the holders SK Franz Josef City - two goals from Torshavn's Erathi contingent of Casaca and Osic, both assisted by a man of the match performance from Astograthi Diegoche Lizaran, seeing them take the place in the next round. Joining them will be Axel Heiburg, who edged out St Paul in an engaging encounter that finished 4-3, Lokomotiv Barentsberg, who beat Bjarnarey 2-1 to upset the formbook, and Aleutia Volcanoes, who needed penalties to overcome Franz Josef Sharks.
Two thirds of the way into the season, and things are mentally, incredibly, wonderfully, and excitingly close at the top. Just a single point separates the top three teams of Jan Mayen Islanders, East Franz Athletic, and SK Franz Josef City. And with the season going into its last third and FC Cape St Paul three points behind them, you have to wonder whether a little gap is just starting to open up, there. Surtsey are running strong, sitting just behind St Paul as they do, whilst Torshavn continue to delight their fans by sitting just behind the top five, and what a wonderful season they are having. Sitting a good five points behind them, but delighted to be so high up the table nonetheless, are Northbrook Diamonds. Who would have expected this from them in only their second season in the top flight? Red Star Severny and Axel Heiburg follow on, though you get the feeling Red Star might be happier about that than Axel Heiburg are, who lead a group of tightly packed teams that includes Bjarnarey, Islay Town, North Star, and Yuzhny Equinox. The relegation spot teams will be hunting Yuzhny and North Star down hard, though with North Star's obvious talent in the squad, and Solovetsky looking a sorry state all the way adrift on 10 points so far, you have to think we might be seeing two from Yuzhny, Scapa Bay, and Atammik Zenith being the teams to go down with the monks. But, as ever, we'll have to wait and see.

In Divisjon Two, things are looking good for the north eastern teams, with the Volcanoes, Resolute Storm, and Aasiaat Harbour filling the three promotion places so far. Severnaya Zemlya are chasing them all the way, and beyond them there's a little gap to the consistent Rapid Jan Mayne side that always seems to be up there or abouts at the end of the season. At the bottom of the table are Velcosta Cliffs, Devon Bay Seals, and then three sides all on 22 points, Korsten Lokomotiv, Koppen Rig Force, and SK Sporting Juura. Koppen Rig will be desperate to avoid consecutive relegations, but they need to start playing better before that happens.

In Divisjon Three, things are a little less close than when we last saw them. Melville Celtic, with a proud top flight history, are sitting well clear at the moment, nine points clear of Hoyvik Town in second place, who themselves are level on points with Bennett and Zhokhov, who have surpassed all expectations so far. At the bottom, there are as ever teams in danger of going straight back down again, though all will be fighting to avoid that. Franz Josef Young Boys in particular will think they deserve to be much higher up the levels than they are. and the with five teams above them separated by only a solitary point, there's a chance they may make it and stay up yet. Hans Island, Wingtips, Rapid Neftegorsk, Yuzhny Albion, and Axel Town being the teams in question.
