Special World Bowl Coverage

Regulars Buckle Down Defensively
Rush-Heavy attack and Safety help Regulars defeat Miley World, 12-7 in Copenhagen.

The Allamunnic offense was stifled all game long by a Miley World defensive unit trying to pull the upset. However, due to last-second scheduling complications, the teams, rather than playing in an almost neutral Koenigshalloe crowd shielded from the weather, played in an open-air stadium in Copenhagen with a fiercely partisan Allamunnic crowd looking on.

It probably didn't help either offense that it was blowing and snowing heavily. Outside the stadium, five inches of accumulation were recorded in the time that the game took place. Visibility was extremely poor, and winds at times gusted to 30-miles per hour. Temperatures were recorded at halftime at 27 degrees Farenheit. Such is mid-December in the Federation. As a result, both teams were running considerably more than they were passing by half-time.

Luckily, with both offenses struggling, the Allamunnic defense stepped in and took over the burden of winning as Theo Laansur forced a second-quarter safety which paved the way for a Phillipa Demirici field-goal to bring the Regulars within two. It was where they would stay for most of the game.

Miley World's offense was kept off the board, instead taking an early lead off a special teams' play that took advantage of a lapse in coverage on a punt in the first quarter. The Regulars did not take the lead until the fourth-quarter with a minute and thirty-two seconds remaining, when Ole Nurdsunn punched in a 2-yard touchdown run, capping a 16-play, nine-minute-and-twenty-nine-second drive.

The Allamunnic coaching staff clearly had a game-plan ready for playing in the snow; rather than their previously balanced play-calling, only twelve passing plays were called in the entire game by Coach Smart, while forty-two rushes were spread out between seven ball-carriers as the team rushed to 248 rushing yards, which is just as well, because Leif Erikson was 4/12 for 42 yards and was intercepted once.

"I think this win shows a lot more about this team then the loss does. Everyone coughs up a game they shouldn't lose now and then. It's how you respond that defines you. And our men and women responded to a draining loss with a gritty win in tough weather conditions over a team playing with a lot of fire. I'm really proud of the way the entire team played. If you watched the game, you know that the Untamed Robots made it into the redzone repeatedly, and that our defense just kept forcing turnovers. They recovered somthing like three of their four fumbles in the redzone, and had one interception."

Halfback Danyl Wyndhorst, who led the team with 71 yards on twelve carries (and with one fumble), stated "The offensive line did a good job of opening holes for us to get through. Ryan [Myers] had a great day, too, and Ole [Nurdsunn] was clutch."

Myers (10 rush, 68 yds) and Nurdsunn (6 rush, 36 yds, TD) were also very important to the running game. Also carrying for the Regulars were Myra Dercik (6 rush, 31 yds, FUM), Zofya Hanriksun (5 rush, 37 yds), and Leif Erikson (2 rush, 0 yds, FUM)(who was sacked for a loss of three yards and had one rush for three yards), and John Kaiser (1 rush, five yards). The ball was fumbled three times between them, but only one was lost to the Untamed Robots.

Despite the win, the Regulars are a half-game behind Darmen, a team they already beat for the group lead, due to the fact that the Regulars have already had their BYE week, while Darmen has not. Apart from that, the Regulars currently have the tie-breaker (there will be a rematch in the Federation, where hopefully they'll be able to come out on top once again) and have a better point-differential.

The safety that set up Demirici's field-goal was forced in the second quarter by nose-tackle Theodur Laansur after a punt pinned the Robots at their own 1-yard line and Laansur burst through the line to stuff the run in the backfield. They took over at their own forty-five yard line, and one play later entered field-goal range as Wyndhorst broke the longest run of the game, a 20-yard charge up the middle shedding tackles. After the next three plays failed to convert to another first down (Myers and Nurdsunn rushed for three yards each before Erikson's incompletion), Demirici booted a difficult forty-four yard field-goal, redeeming herself for a shanked 28-yarder in the first quarter.

The game made the crowd happy, though, when they could actually see it. Several fans after the game reported that seeing a good old-fashioned gritty game was well worth sitting in the snow.

This game was also one that pundits jumped on to find greater significance.

ASN's Garrett Schroeder stated that this was a "statement win" for the Regulars. He elaborated that "it was huge that the team not only didn't wither after dropping a game on the road, but managed to pull together to win, even when factors basically forced them to be a one-dimensional offense. The +3 turnover differential didn't hurt, either."

SNN's Lauren DiMarco observed something about the Regulars, as well, stating that "This sort of game shows that no matter how 'balanced' or 'flexible' their offense is in a given year, this is a team that will probably always be more than comfortable falling back on the run to win games. And when they've had running backs to work with like Haanryk Stahlburg and Gaarutt Fulvshundlur in the past and Wyndhorst, Myers, and Nurdsunn now, can you really blame them?"

The defense also now has one of the best turnover differentials anywhere; while the offense only lost one fumble and an interception (recovering two of their own fumbles), the defense forced a ridiculous five turnovers, forcing and recovering four Robots' fumbles and recording one interception. Four of these turnovers came in the redzone (Lindburgh's fumble recovery at the Allamunnic 5-yard line, Laansur's fumble recovery at the 2-yard line, Andrik Ierunmungur's interception in the endzone for a touchback, and Danny Chessen's fumble recovery at the 14-yard line). Sacking Miley World's quarterback three times early in the game probably also helped them from ever getting even a slight rhythm in the passing game.

The Regulars' turnovers came when rookie QB Leif Erikson lofted a ball a little too much, which was then blown off-course into a safety's hands. Myra Dercik's goal-line fumble ended a potential touchdown-drive in the second quarter when the ball squirted from her hands into the endzone, where the Robots recovered it, after Dercik was tackled hard in the backfield. Wyndhorst and Erikson also fumbled the ball (the former on a botched handoff where the ball slipped from his hands, the latter on a snap with a slippery ball), but both times the offending players dove on the ball to save the team a turnover.

"We said that it would come down to which defense could best disrupt the timing of the West Coast offenses that were displayed, and as it turned out both teams did a pretty good job of that for the most part, not surprising considering that they're obviously familiar with those playbooks from lining up in practice. But the big takeaway from tonight? Size matters. Jerome Seneris, three touchdowns, sixteen receptions for 219 yards, most of those coming after the catch, he has just bulldozed the Sea Dragons tonight."

"We talk about favourable and unfavourable matchups in these closely fought games, and this was about as unfavourable a matchup for this defense as you're ever going to see. It's one thing being able to dive underneath the opposition linemen, get your pad level down and flip those clowns upside down as the linemen on both sides have been doing, but in the open field, Seneris can just flatten you, and he's done that tonight."

"First and ten on the 50 at the two-minute warning, the Sea Dragons have all three timeouts but they need more than timeouts, they need a rainout, which isn't going to happen on a night where there's only light showers. This isn't baseball or cricket. Bellingham takes the snap... play action fake, pops over the middle to Seneris again and AGAIN he runs over the safety, and he is away and gone for his FOURTH touchdown of the night! Can you believe this? Touchdown Guardians... thirty-five to ten, four touchdowns tonight, all of them for one monster tight end, Jerome Seneris, and as that banner in the crowd says, he has indeed gone on a YAC attack. That is now 269 yards in all, and over 180 of them were after the catch."

"If you didn't know better and you just heard that a tight end gained 269 yards for four touchdowns, you would be suspicious, or you would be confused. But the thing is, this was such a favourable matchup, and Seneris is just an unbelievable athlete to go with his size, that the only surprise is that we didn't see it coming."

"Extra point is good, 36-10 Guardians, and you say we didn't see it coming, but I think the Sea Dragons did, they just couldn't do anything about it."

"And you can't even really play double coverage against him, because that's just going to be one more guy he can run over, and Bellingham will just find the open man in a hurry every time, we saw that in the second quarter where he made most of that touchdown drive without going to him, the only pass that went that way in a 76-yard drive was the nine-yard touchdown pass on third down."

"Well, with this result, and we can say it's a result at this point as the kickoff is downed for a touchback, is that Carasatoga will remain top of their group, they had an off-day today so they'll have had a long gap by the time they play next, but the Guardians will hop over into second place, and also with Space losing to Homelands our today, 23-10 the final in that one, it seems increasingly unlikely already that anyone's going to break this playoff trio, it's just a matter of fighting for first and going straight to the final 16."

"To be honest, one look at this group and you knew that was going to happen anyway, but it's definitely looking that way now. Just a matter of who'll come first as you say, and playing like this, it's hard to bet against this team - they just have to beat Carasatoga in the return game."

World Bowl XVI
The Road To Cassadaigua

Game 4: v. Wreuvyvuss

After a bye week, Qazox faced Wreuvyvuss at home. The Wreuvyvussian defense was better than the Sahrks thought, intercepting Jake Leavy 4 times. But the Qazoxian defense was almost as good, forcing 3 turnovers themselves, including an interception on the final play of the game. Despite the offesnive struggles, 268 total yards, Qazox is still 4-0 and now will travel to 4-0-0 Osarius in the last match-up of unbeatens at this World Bowl, at least during the group stage.
It will be a battle of evenly matched teams, at least when Qazox has the ball; but on the other side of the ball, Osarius has one of the better offenses (42.5 ppg) vs. the 4th best defense (15.3 pag). Something will give in Osarius next weekend.

3 big plays of the day:

#3- Wreuvyvuss' CB. He had two of the 4 interceptions of Levy and both set up Wreuvyvuss with a short field. The 2nd set them up at the Qazox 5 with 30 seconds left in the 2nd quarter, leading to Wreuvyvuss' only TD of the day.

#2- Brian Walden's sack of the Wreuvyvuss' QB in the 4th quarter on 3rd and goal from the Qazox 3 for a loss of 5 yards. With the game still 9-7, Wreuvyvuss, after Levy's 3rd pick of the day, looked to re-take the lead, but Walden's sack forced them to try a FG.

#1- Brian Walden's blocked FG. One play after his sack to set up a 4th and goal from the Qazox 8; Wreuvyvuss tried for a chip-shot 25-yd FG that would have put them up 10-9 with just over 3 minutes left. But Walden just broke through the O-line enough to get a hand on the kick, and it tumbled harmlessly into the endzone, keeping Qazox in the lead.

Chrinthanium Defeats Toronina 30-26 In First Road Game

TORONINA - The Imperials took to the road for their first game outside of Chrinthanium during this World Bowl and defeated the win-less Toronina National Team 30-26 with most of their scoring coming in the fourth quarter. Toronina opened up the scoring in the first quarter with a 37 yard field goal after their drive stalled in Chrinthani territory. On the ensuing possession, the Imperials would also stall and rely on the strong leg of Kicker Jonathan Padgett who would nail a 44 yard field goal to tie the score with 4:15 remaining in the first quarter. In the second quarter, a pair of touchdown passes would give Toronina a commanding 17-3 lead until Shane Reynolds found Sloan Cunnings in the endzone with a 32-yard touchdown reception with just over one minute to play in the half. At halftime, the score would stand 17-10 with Toronina on top. In the third quarter, Chrinthanium would again need the services of kicker Padgett on the opening possession of the second half with twelve and a half minutes to go. Unfortunately, the defense would again break down an allow Toronina to tack on 2 more field goals, giving them a 23-13 lead at the end of the third quarter.

However, it was the fourth quarter which saw the Imperials finally wake up offensively. After another Toronina field goal, Shane Reynolds would run a no-huddle offense for much of the final quarter as the team was down 26-13. He'd hand off to Tanner Revis who would scamper into the endzone for his first rushing touchdown of the competition with 10:42 remaining in the game. The score, Chrinthanium 20-Toronina 26. Kyran Phillips would intercept the Toroninan Quarterback, giving the Imperial another chance to score, but they'd have to settle for a field goal with 7:01 remaining. The score 26-23 with Toronina on top. However, Quarterback Shane Reynolds would find Wide Receiver Kai Bolden on a play where the Toronina defense simple broke down allowing Bolden to run for a 42-yard Touchdown reception, giving Chrinthanium the lead 30-26 with 3:38 remaining.

An oddity of International Competition, in the Chrinthani National Football League, we'd be ranked above Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk as they've lost more than we have, but apparently in the World Bowl, point differential is more important. Currently, Chrinthanium is in 6th place in Group 7.

Miley World lost in the snow

Miley World were kinda shocked when they arrived in the Allamunnic States because of the weather. Here in Miley World it never snows in winter and when the players arrived at the Koenigshalloe airport they learned the game will be played in an open air stadium in Copenhagen finally. So the Untamed Robots decided to take a bus ride from Koenigshalloe to Copenhagen, but the ride was pretty long and the visibility was reduced on the roads. Miley World finally made it safely to Copenhagen on the matchday morning at 10 am.

Most of the Miley World players never seen snow before arriving to the Allamunnic States and they had to play a game in these unfriendly conditions, and they did good cuz it could haven been worse, but they lost 12-7. Miley World won the coin toss. Philippa Demirici makes the kick off and DeAndre Hall returns it to the 21 yards line. J.T. Williams ran for 3 yards. Then an imcomplete pass by Nick Walker and a 8 yards pass by Walker to Noah McKinley. First down Miley World. J.T. Williams ran for 8 yards, he ran again for -1 yards, then Noah Winters ran for 3 yards. Another first down. J.T. Williams ran for 2 yards, D.J. Thomas ran for 3 yards, Nick Walker throwed an incomplete pass and the Untamed Robots had to punt. Paul Hayward (the kicker who'se punting due to Nolan Palmer being injured) punted the ball to the Allamunnic States 15 yards line and Ryan Sherman returned it to their 26 yards line. The Allamunic States got a first down (thanks to three runs for 5, 3 and 2 yards each) then 3 plays later they had to punt. Wayne Scott punted the ball and DeAndre Hall caught it at the 12 yards line, he returned it to the endzone for a touchdown. 7-0 Miley World! But it was the only time we scored. The Untamed Robots had many opportunities later but they had 4 fumbles in the red zone and 3 of them were lost. Miley World's offensive player of the game was D.J. Thomas who had 13 carries for 67 yards and catched the ball 1 time for -3 yards. J.T. Williams wasn't that good, he had 16 carries for 36 yards. Miley World's defensive player of the game was Kenndall Davis who had 5 tackles, 1 sack and 1 fumble recovered.

We have interviewed Miley's coach Matt Payton after the game:

"I didn't like that the game changed location at the last minute and we didn't know it before we landed in the Allamunic States. You can be sure that our home game against Allamunic States won't be played at the Smiler Stadium in New York and they won't know where the game will be played before they lands in Miley World."

Postby Civil Citizenry » Sat Nov 26, 2011 9:50 pm

Drago Jerrell wasn't too pleased when his defensive teammate Giles Wetherell helped cost Civil Citizenry a World Bowl win, and he said so after that game. But the Boss told him off for it, and what the Boss says goes.

So Jerrell, the nation's most prolific linebacker, took matters into his own hands. Three interceptions, one a pick-six, highlighted the Explorers' cannon-like demolition of Beldonia. The player of the game, though, had to have been Wesleigh Corliss, who caught not one, not two, four passes for touchdowns.

After his final catch, the final score for Civil Citizenry, Corliss and Cadby Townleigh started dancing in synchronization to the hip-hop hit "This Is Why You Flop." Ripples of the chorus - "I'm hot 'cause I try, you ain't 'cause you stop, this is why, this is why, this is why you flop" - resounded through the ChocoMilk Amfootball Arena, exuding an electric atmosphere that will stick with every fan in attendance for quite a while.

Corliss has continued to put up heroic numbers since he highlighted the Citiz offense in upsetting Allamunnic States and Qazox in Delaclava. He is quarterback Saxon Haugard's go-to guy, but often accepts playing second banana to some of the other ripe fruits of the offense - like Townleigh. Being a 240-pound tight end doesn't stop him from possessing baby-soft hands that turn him into a prime choice for Haugard's accurate throws. No matter who Haugard is aiming for, Corliss never gets jealous.

"A lot of receivers out there, you know, they always want to be the target. Like, come on, no one wants to run downfield every play for nothing, you know. But none of us, none of us are like that: first and foremost, we're out on the field to, you know, win games, not for the stats, no matter who ends up in the newspaper headlines."

Unfortunately, the Explorers locker room hasn't been entirely peace/love/happiness. Jerrell's comments about the substitute Wetherell has received backlash from high-profile figures like coach Manning, and reportedly Wetherell had a couple angry words for his colleague before the game. It didn't seem to have an effect on either player once they ran out of the tunnel, though. "Maybe the anger inside of them, you know, became the genesis of the on-field intensity they displayed out there," analyzed Manning. "Who knows - as long as we're moving on and we're out there winning games."

World Bowl Playbook

The camera cuts to two men in early middle-age standing in a studio in front of a screen. One is slightly older, his hair greying and with worry lines on his face. The other is younger, and begins speaking.

"Mike Sharpe here, with Brad Harper, here with Gridiron Playbook: World Bowl Edition. Perhaps the play that was the most emblematic of the Allamunnic squad's winning effort was Ole Nurdsunn's two-yard touchdown run. After they were turned away on an earlier attempt, this one was successful. Let's take a look at why."

The older one speaks: "Let's look first at their first attempt. They lined up in the power-I, with Leif Erikson under center, Ole Nurdsunn at fullback and Myra Dercik at halfback. They have one wide-receiver and two tight-ends. It's wide-right, and they run the toss. You can see Hanrik Wurfytur pull, and he's replaced by Archie Erikson, Nurdsunn goes wide to block. What happens next is that the Smiler linebackers overwhelm Nurdsunn and Wurfytur, and Dercik is forced to bounce out wide. She takes a hit, and the ball, being wet, shoots from her hands like a bar of wet soap. It's recovered by the Smiler in the endzone. This play failed, because the Smilers were crowding the line and Dercik, who's primarily a speed runner, just couldn't find a hole to get through."

Sharpe begins speaking again. "Now let's see the play here that actually succeeded. The Regulars are in a modified goal-line formation on the left hash, with Ole Nurdsunn back taking the snap at a standard five-yard back shotgun distance. He's joined in the backfield by Theodur Laansur, and the third line cohort (G. Stroenheim, A. Erikson, T. Suldurmunn, H. Wurfytur, W. Stroenheim) has the line, with Erikson as the end on the left side of the line; Wurfytur is on Suldurmunn's right, with G. Stroenheim to his right, and W. Stroenheim to Graagur's right. Zack Hall has the outside tight-end spot, while Garrett Kelley has the middle tight-end spot. John Kaiser's lined up as the inner-most tight end, all on the right side. Theodur Laansur is in the backfield as a fullback to Nurdsunn's right. It's a very obvious running formation. But here's what I like: they don't care that the Smilers know what they're doing. They go for it anyway."

Harper picks up the narration. "Now watch as Nurdsunn takes the snap. Even before the snap, Laansur is in motion, moving right. As soon as Nurdsunn has the ball, he begins running right, following Laansur. Now here's where Laansur's awareness takes over, as he watches for where the line is having the most trouble, between Hall and Kelley, and erupts through the gap, pancaking the hapless defensive lineman and opening a huge hole, which Nurdsunn crashes through. He's tackled, but dives into the endzone to give the Regulars the score."

"I'm not sure that this would work in any other game, but in this one, where the Regulars had been running all over the Untamed Robots, its lack of subtlety didn't matter. And the pure power they had in what Coach Smart called the "Clydesdale" package is probably unmatchable and really hard to counter on short-yardage situations."

Harper laughs. "I liked the way they went out and imposed their will. This play pretty much summed the entire thing up."

Together, they finish: "We'll see you tomorrow on "Gridiron Playbook! Next, Garrett Schoeder will cover some other World Bowl news!"

The camera cuts to a younger man, probably in his thirties with a well-tended blonde combover. He smiles at the camera and speaks.

"Hi, I'm Garrett Schroeder. We've actually got Allamunnic Sporting Commission Chairman Hadley Thornburger on the line, to respond to allegations by fans and players alike that the last-second change in venue that forced both teams to catch last-second flights and delayed the game, was deliberate. Mr. Thornburger?"

"Hello, Garrett. Yes, we've heard these accusations, and I have to say, first off, that they are just plain not true. Thousands of fans lost their tickets, which will be reimbursed. But moreover, both teams were at a disadvantage as they were forced to play in hurried conditions, not to mention the ill-will all around. I'd like to extend the sincerest apologies to all affected by the change. It was our fault; a relatively minor earthquake that morning caused damage to the stadium in Koenigshalloe, and we were not informed until about thirty-minutes before the game due to a communications error. The AGL offered us the use of the Copenhagen stadium, stating that other closer stadiums were all in use that day and were unavailable for use."

Schroeder shuffles his papers. "Thank you, Hadley. I also have here a statement from Regulars' coach Ryan Smart in response to the head coach of the Untamed Robots, Matt Payton's statement that Miley World's organization would deliberately do something similar to the Regulars for their game there in retaliation."

"Frankly, I find this response to a genuine mistake to be extremely immature and not remotely in keeping with the traditions of sportsmanship encouraged by the World Bowl's organizers and operators. Our team was subjected to the same difficulty as our opponents regarding the stadium change; we were not informed until very soon before the game was set to begin. That said, we are confident that we can win, even if such difficulties are planned for us. But that is in the future. Our focus is on Toronina, with the game rescheduled to play in Copenhagen once again."

Gregg Williams's mood after Sarzonia's 43-6 victory over Sucrati left the Sarzonian national gridball team the only 5-0 team in the World Bowl was much better than it was when the Stars came off a 47-34 slugfest against Tryienne.

After that match, Williams was fuming. His defence played so poorly that defensive coordinator Kirk Olivadotti tried to resign mid-match, but Williams declined. He did allow Olivadotti to clear his head and sit out the rest of the match.

"The only people on this team who should be happy with themselves should be the offence," Williams said. "We can't allow 34 points against a 1-3 team and expect to accomplish what we want to accomplish. We can't."

Williams started several depth players to send a message to his usual starters against Sucrati. Consider the message sent. Sarzonia forced seven turnovers and limited Sucrati to 246 yards of total offence. Meanwhile, quarterback Gavin Davis remained on fire, completing 30 of 42 passes for 423 yards and five touchdown passes. He ran one on for nine yards prior to hitting tight end Pat Whalen on a two-point conversion.

"We needed to work on our two-point plays," Williams said, explaining why the Stars went for two with the team already up by five touchdowns. "We weren't trying to rub it in on Sucrati in any way, shape or form." Sucrati dropped to 2-3 after the loss.

Meanwhile, German Zerabithea kept pace with a 22-17 victory over Arsenola and Tekcrib defeated E-lands 27-13 in other Group 5 action. In other scores Sarzonians care about, Delaclava defeated Western Cuba 24-3 in Group 6, Beskie kept F1-Insanity level for last place with a 19-9 victory and Bluth Corporation regained a foothold on first place in Group 1 [OOC: check the tables! Some of the standings look off!] with a 43-26 victory over The Babbage Islands.

Subject: Stadium Change Issue

We have been aware of some comments made by the Untamed Robots coach Matt Payton and we aren't endorsing his accusations at all. The game between the Allamunnic States and Miley World on december 3rd will be played at the Smiler Stadium in New York, Miley World as expected. Kickoff will start at 1:00 pm local time. Matt Payton has been fined 1000 Smiler Dollars for what he said. MSN (Miley Sports Network) and two news channel are showing the part of your video which Mr. Garrett Schroeder is responding to Matt Payton, so Miley fans will know your version of what happened. We would like to appologize for this issue. As an attachment here is a pic of Matt Payton with our Teen Queen Miley Cyrus taken last year:

From the Desk of:
Lauren Hamilton, President, Cassadagan Association for Football Excellence

Intended Recipients:

Allamunnic Sporting Commission; Smiler Football Federation

Concerning:
Stadium Swap

Good morning to each of you. Mr. Hadley Thornburger and staff of the Allamunnic Sporting Commission, and Mr. Bob Richards and staff of the Smiler Football Federation

As all parties involved are aware, there was controversy in the decision of the ASC to move the World Bowl Qualification game between Allamunnic States and Miley World from Koenigshalloe to Copenhagen, a move that led to the game being played in less then ideal conditions. The Cassadagan Association of Football Excellence was not that pleased with this announcement, but we realize that such last-minute schedule changes can take place. After all, if a stadium had organized a minor league baseball game to be played on a certain day that would only fill to about 40% capacity, and such stadium had something come up, such as the opportunity to schedule a concert of a popular teenage female performer that is sure to sell out within hours, but there was only one day that would fit, and it was the day of the minor league baseball game, that the baseball game would be moved. Therefore, even if CAFE has the power to veto this swap, which we do not, we would not have done so.

Ultimately though, you still need to compensate the fans who did buy tickets to the minor league baseball game used in the above example. I have been informed that had the game been in Koenigshalloe, there were a good number of Miley World fans hoping to have a Party in The Allamunnic States, and had that festive mood ruined by the stadium swap. Because of this, these fans are out money and travel expenses that go beyond the face value of the ticket. While it is not our place to tell you want to do, we would hope that the ASC compensates these fans financially for their hardship. Could you imagine after all, if you went to a “Super Bowl” of your nation, and had tickets in a certain section, and on gameday were told that the seats “weren’t ready yet” and you’d have to go elsewhere, how inconvenienced you would be? In that case, compensation is expected or there will be lawsuits. Hopefully there will not have to be lawsuits in this instance, but if so, CAFE is not liable for any monetary damages. I will remind you that on the formal application we provided you that you signed there was a waiver that says we assume no such liability.

It does appear that things have cooled down a little bit now from the initial shock and awe of the move. No one was told about the earthquake, and from what I heard, no one even made a passing mention to it, so very few people evidently felt it. This does make it a little fishy that such a minor earthquake could have caused such significant damage to the stadium to have prevented the game from being played. No Cassadagan journalist that I have the opportunity to speak with that was in Koenigshalloe told me they even felt an earthquake, though one told me later that it could have been a reason why her morning coffee she left on the desk had fallen, spilled, and shorted her laptop, as she used the restroom.

However a minor earthquake can cause damage and safety must always come first. What I don’t understand though is why the game couldn’t have been played nearby, forcing other stadiums to reschedule given that this is a World Bowl qualification game we’re talking about. I also don’t understand why, given the circumstances, that the ASC didn’t delay the start of the game and did not provide transportation to the event for all ticketholders to Copenhagen, whether from Allamunnic States or Miley World.

All of this, however, is between the two nations involved, as again we are not liable for anything!

Sincerely,
Lauren Hamilton, President of CAFE

Regulars Shut Down Toronina
Take Group Lead with Shutout Win

On a cold and blustery day in Copenhagen, the Regulars reassumed control of their destiny in Group 7 by dominating Toronina defensively, even while a balanced, if at times struggling offense found the endzone twice, as Leif Erikson found Willy Theodore late in the first quarter on a 23-yard touchdown strike, and Danyl Wyndhorst charged to a 28-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter to score off of a late third quarter safety forced by inside linebacker Steven Lindburgh.

It wasn't for lack of trying by the group basement-dwellers, though; they reached the redzone four times during the game, coming up empty all three times as the Toroninan QB was intercepted three times (by Elias Mourner, Steven Lindburgh, and Belle Marquette) and their halfback and fullback each fumbled once on jarring hits by Archie Wagner and Theo Laansur, recovered by Laansur and Miles Ryan respectively. Lindburgh and defensive end Honorius Waalturs led the defense in sacks and tackles for loss, as they each came away with a team-high three sacks (out of a team-total of ten), although of the two, Lindburgh was probably the more dominant, as another tackle for loss on the Toroninan halfback was executed in the endzone, forcing the team's second safety of the year late in the third quarter and setting up the drive where Wyndhorst scored from 28-yards out.

Defensive Coordinator Theo Dahlstadt talked about the defensive effort: "I think the key was that we just kept taking the run away. Both their interceptions came in the second half, with their offense more and more desperate to score. The run Steven got a safety on was kind of an exception, as they were trying to get out of their own endzone. Ten sacks ain't too shabby, either. I'm really proud of them."

Offensively, while the stats wouldn't blow anyone away, the team was efficient; Leif Erikson was 18/23 for 181 yards and a touchdown, and was not intercepted during the game, while Danyl Wyndhorst (22 car, 106 yds, TD) was the most effective of the rushers, and was further helped by Ryan Myers (5 car, 52 yds) and Ole Nurdsunn (3 car, 22 yds).

Additionally, in response to the Smilers and Cassadagan response to the stadium-switch incident last week, ASC Chairman Hadley Thornburger released a statement: "We do apologize and take full responsibility for the incident, which occurred for reasons which have now been made clear. We will make every attempt to reimburse and compensate anyone affected by the incident. A hotline will be available especially for those who had tickets which they could not use due to the venue change, so that they may secure compensation."

The Regulars will face Cosumar on the road next week. Cosumar has severely underperformed this year, but the Regulars should not overlook them.

"They're ranked eighteenth in the world for a reason. They'll be a threat, regardless of how they've performed so far. We'll need to be ready to shut them down and take control of this group," Coach Ryan Smart said.

Coach Norbert Fired As Chrinthanium Risks Non-Qualification

ORDONA BEACH - The CFL Commissioner Bill Dailey has terminated Coach Norbert and promoted Dom Petrillo to Head Coach. Coach Petrillo will also still handle offensive play calling. After loosing their 3rd match, with the unusual score of 19-29 to Cosumar, the CFL Commissioner issued a press release.

"It is our deepest regret that we have, in the midst of qualification, terminated the contract of Coach Mark Norbert," Dailey said in the release. "We feel that his direction, vision, and coaching, while suited for the set-up of the Chrinthani National Football League, is not what is needed for International Competition. The CNFL Board of Directors, along with representatives of the 24 owners, have elected to go in a different direction." The release concluded with, "It is our deepest hopes that Coach Petrillo can lead Chrinthanium into the next round."

In a related story, after arriving home, Coach Norbert was called into a private meeting with His Indefatigable Greatness. The meeting itself was held in the deepest reaches of the Imperial Villa at Ordona Beach. Since leaving the meeting, Coach Norbert has not returned home, according to his wife. A missing persons report has been filed with the Ordona Beach Police Department, but at this time, OBPD states there are no leads.

World Bowl XVI
The Road To Cassadaigua

Game 5: @ Osarius

Qazox' defense has quietly become one of the better ones out there. Proof? Osarius was averaging 45.0 points per game and almost 500 yards of offense coming into tonight's showdown of 4-0 teams. The firebirds were held to only 17 points and 285 yards of offense on the day, with only 65 of those yards coming in the 2nd half. Jake Levy, after last week's 4-int performance rebounded to throw for 378 yards and 4 TD's. Qazox is one of 3 remaining unbeatens, Sarzonia (6-0) and Carasatoga (5-0) are the others. Up next Qazox finishes the first half of qualifying back home against 2-2-1 Narsora, who tied Weegee and Rick Steves 28-28 today, in the first tie at this World Bowl season in group 2.

3 big plays of the day:

#3- Mike Stephens' 73 yard KO return in the 2nd quarter. Stephen's return from a yard deep in the endzone, set up Qazox at the Osarius 28 trailing 17-7 and gave the Eagles back the momentum they lost after a Brian Kelly set up the Firebirds at the Qazox 38.

#2- Brian Kelly's 73 yard TD run on Qazox' first play from scrimmage in the 2nd half. Kelly tok the handoff from Levy and broke 3 tackles near the line of scrimmage before just barely leaping over Micah Forte. After that stunning leap, Kelly raced untouched the final 65 yards to put Qazox up 28-17.

#1- Nate Ogando's interception of Tommy Rhodes at the end of the 1st half in the endzone. After Qazox had taken a 21-17 lead, Osarius took over with 2:11 left and quickly drove down field looking to regain the lead. Rhodes was 6-for-6 on the drive before Ogando out-jumped Jermaine Carlson on a fade route to the back corner, ending the half and keeping momentum on Qazox' side. Ogando would get a 2nd interception on the last play of the game, returning it 41 yards for a TD.

After the Rams had won against Tekcrib 41-39, Coach Rogers was getting ready to get out of the field and talk to her team. She had shaken the other Head Coach's hand, and had said her usual comments to the reporters on the field. However, as she began to walk away two strange looking fellows with long hair and sunglasses began to walk up to her. One was tall and skinny and was wearing a Hawaiian shirt, while the other was kind of short and tubby, wearing a full purple suit.

The following is the conversation as it was recorded.

Chad: Hey Mis. Rogers, I'm Chad, and this here is JR, and we are from Bro Football, your number one source of brotastic news in the world of foo...

Rogers: Whatever, look, what do you want?

Chad: Well, we here at Bro Football have planed a raffle for the fans you see... and we were wondering if you and your team would want to maybe go bowling with the winner or something like that.

Rogers: A. No. And B. Your friend there looks stupid in that purple suit.

"Rogers starts to walk past the two"

Chad: I told you that she would say that.

JR: Come on dude, don't be hating on the suit like that.

Chad: I'm telling you bro, you do not look good in purple.

JR: Well exssscccuuuussseee me princess!

Rogers: Look, if you guys want to keep arguing, that's fine with me, just don't be too long, security does not like it when people stay out here too long.

Chad: No wait! Please let your team get involved with this!

Rogers: Can't you find some other team to do it?

Chad: Um...

"Rogers raises an eyebrow"

JR: We kind of already told people on tv that it would be you guys...

Rogers: YOU TOLD PEOPLE NATIONWIDE THAT WE WOULD DO THIS, WITH OUT ASKING US FIRST?!

Chad: No... maybe...

JR: I thought the purple suit had magical properties that would make you say yes...

Rogers: MKNVJKNSKNVKMVAKVKNVKN;AJKNAKKDEK!!!!

"Rogers then proceeds to walk away continuing to yell out insults to the two"

Afterwards however, the defensive player of the game Donald Ducked had his own description of the conversation he overheard.

Chad and JR: bluh bluh ,derp derp, something stupid
Rogers: Angresh!!!!!1

Miley World beats Darmen

Miley World played at home against Darmen and won 29-23! It was a huge performance by the Untamed Robots against Darmen, which is ranked #34. Before the game started, Miley World has announced punter Nolan Palmer has been released from the national team and he has been replaced by another punter, Ryan Beard, who plays with the Australia Cow Boys in the SFL.

The score was 16-6 for Miley World at the halftime. Darmen scored on their first drive in the 2nd half on a run by Neal Anderson then both teams made a field goal each and the score was 19-16 for Miley World at the end of the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter Scott Nicholls intercepted a pass by Dennis caldridge and it was followed by a touchdown pass by Nick Walker to Titus Dawson and the Untamed Robots were leading 26-16 with 5:46 minutes to go. Darmen scored a touchdown with 3:34 remaining and then they tried an on-side kick but Miley World recovered it. Miley World had the ball at the 46 yards line in the Darmen territory. A few plays later, the Untamed Robots were stopped at the 18 yards line and Miley World tried a field goal and they succesfully made it. Nick Walker passed for 183 yards with 1 passing touchdown and 1 interception but the offensive player of the game for Miley World was J.T. Williams with 111 rushing yards, 36 receiving yards and 1 rushing touchdown. The defensive player of the game for Miley World was Braden Krause with 9 tackles, 1 sack and 1 pass deflected.

Windsor Drive was invited to play their music at the halftime show, its a rock band who pretends to be from "Wisconsin" but there's no place called like that in Miley World so no one knows where they're from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkB5l57GNnE

Coach Petrillo Gets The Win

ORDONA BEACH - In the warm, tropical sun of Ordona Beach the Imperial took on the Elephdonkeys of Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk and defeated them 30-20 in the teams third victory. New head coach Dom Petrillo coached a balanced offensive game, which seemed to take the Elephdonkeys by surprise from the outset.

In the first quarter, Elephdonkey QB Villa hooked up with WR Marcus Wilson on the opening possession for a 41 yard touchdown pass with 11:19 to go in the first quarter. Chrinthanium would fight back with a 8-play 4:12 second drive in which RB Tanner Revis scored on a 11-yard touchdown rush. Villa would be intercepted on the next possession for the Elephdonkeys which would result in a Jonathan Padgett field goal for Chrinthanium just before the quarter expired. A field goal by both teams was all the scoring done in the second quarter as both defenses played like well oiled machines. The Chrinnies were leading at the half 13-10. Chrinthanium received the ball to open the second half of the game. On first and ten from their own 34 yard line, Reynolds would fire a pass into the sure hands of tight end Brent Davidson, which he would take all the way to the house for a 66 yard touchdown reception. He'd caught the defense in Zone coverage and they had not accounted for the tight end, who had been seeing little play under coach Norbert. The Elephdonkeys would answer back with a field goal on their next possession. Jonathan Padgett, the kicking champion of the CNFL, would connect on a 44 yard field goal to give Chrinthanium a 23-13 lead at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Elephdonkey running back Peterson Farragut would score on a 47-yard run. THe Chrinthani defense was caught in an all-out blitz and Farragut would see plenty of daylight in front of him as he was into the secondary before any Imperial linebacker would notice. QB Shane Reynolds would throw a 13-yard touchdown pass on the next drive to tight end Brent Davidson, who was left open in the back of the endzone. The score would remain 30-20 in favor of Chrinthanium for the rest of the game.

Special World Bowl Coverage

Erikson, Defense, Lead Regulars to Group Lead
QB Throws Four TD Passes in 39-9 win over Cosumar

Cosumar came in ready to stop the run as they faced the Regulars on the Dragons' turf.

It didn't do them much good, as rookie Leif Erikson tore their defense a new one, going 26/32 for 354 yards and 4 TDs. Add a defensive effort that kept yet another opponent out of the endzone while forcing two safeties and three turnovers, and it's not difficult to see why the Regulars have moved to take full control of Group 7 at last.

The rushing attack was limited to 136 total yards and one touchdown on twenty-three carries, with Ryan Myers (10 carries, 65 yds, TD) and Danyl Wyndhorst (10 carries, 61 yds) having the most success and with contributions on third down from Ole Nurdsunn (3 carries, 10 yds). leaving most of the pressure on Erikson to get things done offensively. The Regulars lost another coin-toss and found themselves defending on the opening drive, where the defense was able to prevent a Cosumarite offense that reached the redzone from finding the endzone, instead forcing them to settle for a field-goal.

The Regulars answered right after as Erikson led them on a seven-play, 62-yard, 3:48 drive that ended on a 25-yard shot to Willy Theodore, giving the Regulars a lead they would never relinquish for the rest of the game. The Dragons' next drive didn't even got outside of their own five-yard line, as Kameron Howard was sacked by Miles Ryan in the endzone to give the Regulars a safety and a 9-3 lead. After downing the fair punt on their own thirty-yard line, Erikson led a patient 70-yard, 11-play, 7:09 drive that culminated in Myra Dercik's 4-yard touchdown screen, increasing their lead to 16-3 early in the second quarter.

That lead would be cut to 16-6 shortly afterward, after a long pass by Howard to WR Bruce Sanchez to the one-yard line. A goal-line stand saw the Dragons limited to a field goal once again. The next drive for the Regulars stalled around the fifty, and Wayne Scott's punt was downed at the 2-yard line. However, once again the Regular's defense would have trouble getting the Dragons' offense off the field, and a 15-play, 95-yard drive ended in another field-goal to cut the Regulars' lead down to 16-9. The Regulars would end one other Cosumarite drive when Elias Mourner intercepted Howard in the endzone, but would find themselves unable to get any points from it, taking a seven-point lead into the locker room at the half.

They started with the ball after halftime, fielding the ball at their own 8-yard line. Erikson led another long drive, taking up 6:41 minutes, culminating with Erikson's 6-yard touchdown pass to Garrett Kelley, extending the Regulars' lead to 23-9. Danny Chessen promptly intercepted Howard at the Regulars' 30-yard line. The following drive stalled at the Dragons' 40-yard line, forcing the Regulars to settle for a field goal. Unfortunately, though, Demirici's field-goal attempt was blocked. The Dragons were forced to punt again, shortly thereafter to end the third quarter.

The Regulars began the fourth quarter with the ball at their own twenty-yard line, and Erikson scored quickly, completing an 80-yard touchdown pass to Izaak Rolle, increasing the Regulars' lead further to 30-9. Demirici's kickoff pinned the Dragons deep, and three plays later another sack courtesy of Honorius Waalturs resulted in a second safety of the day, widening the Regulars' lead even further to 32-9. A well-done fair punt had the Regulars operating on their own twenty-three after a fair-catch. From there, they put together a time-chewing drive that left four minutes left on the board after Ryan Myers' 6-yard touchdown run to give the Regulars their final margin of victory, 39-9. A promising drive by the Dragons was ended by a fumble, recovered by Danny Mallett.

The win gives the Regulars sole control of the lead of Group 7, and having allowed the fewest points (79) thus far in the group stage. And while rival Qazox can boast an undefeated record, one need only look at the Regulars' group to see that it is one with a great deal of parity, and that it is considerably tougher than it appeared at first glance.

The Regulars will begin the second half of qualifying in Skarrsboro against Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk, who are currently 2-4. However, the Regulars don't intend to take their competition lightly.

"Every game is important, and we're taking every game as it comes," Coach Ryan Smart said. "We've choked up one game. We don't intend to cough up another."

Also questioned about the game was quarterback Leif Erikson, who threw for a career-high four touchdowns and carried the offense. On the increased load he carried today, he was fairly modest: "It was just what we needed to get things done and win. I'm glad that Coach Smart feels that I can be relied on to help us win when necessary, but other than that, it's not really a big deal. We're looking ahead to Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk to keep rolling and hopefully lock up the group title as soon as possible." It is of note that in his rookie effort, through seven games (counting the friendly against Cassadaigua) that Erikson has thrown 11 touchdowns versus 4 interceptions, a stat that, while not spectacular, is promising and is indicative of the efficiency that the passing game has had this year.

Theo Dahlstadt had glowing words to say about the defense, as well. "I'm really proud of the way they played out there today. They come up big on multiple occasions to prevent touchdowns, force safeties, and recover the ball for us. I especially liked how Steven [Lindburgh], Haanryk [Faalks], Danny [Mallett], and Ryan [Walkerton] stepped up and made big contributions today. I think each of them came up with at least one sack and one or two other tackles for loss. The depth we have hear is incredible, and I can't wait to see what they're capable of against our next opponents."

Miley World wins!

Miley World beat Toronina on the road 23-20 after trailing by seven points most of the game. Toronina took a 13-6 lead at the halftime. Both team scored a touchdown each in the 3rd quarter and the score was 20-13 for Toronina at the end of the 3rd quarter. When the 4th quarter started, Miley World had the ball, but they finally punted it and it was downed at the 9 yards line. Toronina's offense comes on the field and HB1 ran for -2 yards. With 2nd and 12, Toronina tried to pass the ball but it was incomplete, QB1 was hurried by Kenndall Davis and he had to throw fast to avoid being sacked near his end zone. With a 3rd and 12 at the 7 yards line, Toronina tried again to pass the ball, this time the Quarterback was hurried by Willis Paxton. We suppose he tried to pass to TE1, but the throw was pretty bad and it was right into Gene Rose's arms and he ran straight to the end zone without being touched. Touchdown Miley World and the score was 20-20 with 12:48 remaining. On their next drive Toronina advanced a little, but had to punt. DeAndre Hall returned the punt to the 42 yards line in his territory. On the next drive, Miley World made 6 plays for 34 yards in 3:41 minutes, and then they tried a field goal and succesfully made it. Miley World finally took the lead for the 1st time since the 2nd quarter and kept it. Toronina did nothing good on the next drive, they were unable to convert a 4th down and Miley World took the ball and controlled it until the end of the game. The Untamed Robots won 23-20. It's hard to pick one offensive player of the game for Miley World. Nick Walker passed for 258 yards with 1 TD and 0 interception. J.T. Williams ran 17 times for 83 yards and caught the ball 2 times for 21 yards. Keshawn Allen caught the ball 5 times for 95 yards and scored 1 TD. Miley World's offensive player of the game is Keshawn Allen finally. And the Untamed Robots defensive player of the game is Gene Rose with 5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception and 1 defensive touchdown.

World Bowl XVI
The Road To Cassadaigua

Game 6: @ Narsora

Maybe it's the thrill of beating teams on their own turf. Or perhaps at Home the Sharks get too comfortable; but haven't you noticed that Qazox seems to be doing better on the road than at home so far? A 10-6 win over Narsora, punctuated by 4 Sharks turnovers at home for the 2nd straight game. But regardless of the score and margin of victory, Qazox still won the game and are one of 3 unbeatens remaining. Of the three teams, Qazox has the best defense (by a point) and worst offense. But they are 6-0. Qazox will face off against 2-4 Arroza at Qazian Memorial next Saturday night.

3 big plays of the day:

#3- Narsora's 3rd fumble recovery of the day. With Qazox up 10-3 midway in the 4th, this fumble set up the visitors at the Qazox 43. While they could only manage a FG of the drive, it still kept Narsora in the game.

#2- Narsora's 1st fumble recovery of the game. Qazox was up 7-0 and driving deep in Narsora territory looking to go up 14-0, when Brian Kelly was stripped at the 3 yard line. Nothing came of the turnover, but it showed that Narsora wasn't going to be a pushover in this game.

#1- Natrsora's 4th fumble recovery with 1:04 left. Trailing 10-6, Narsora was set up at the Qazox 40 and they had all the momentum. But 4 straight incompletions and Qazox would get the tougher than expected victory.

Allamunnic States Daily
Special World Bowl Coverage

Regulars put away Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk, 12-3
Defense sees Regulars widen group lead.

Phillipa Demirici kicked four field goals to definitively put away an Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk team that foundered in another blustery, snowy game, this time in Skarrsboro.

The defense forced three turnovers, but only two turnovers resulted in any points for the Regulars; most of the game consisted of the two teams trading punts. The defense also got to Jackson Villa early and often, sacking him seven times and forcing two interceptions.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Regulars drew first blood, driving nine plays to the Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk 10-yard line, where the drive stalled, leaving Demirici to boot a chip-shot to give them the early lead, 3-0. An interception would prove fruitful, as Belle Marquette caught a ball that caroomed off of a receiver's hands to give the Regulars the ball at the 50. Seven plays later, Demirici widened the lead to 6-0 with a 31-yarder.

Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk got the ball back after the half, and drove to the Regulars' 23-yard line before the defense stopped them, forcing them to settle for a field-goal, cutting the Regulars' lead to 6-3. Their next drive sputtered, but Peterson Farragut put the ball on the ground when their opponents got it back, and Steven Lindburgh recovered the fumble at the opposing 42-yard line. Seven plays later, Demirici booted a 33-yarder to widen the lead again, 9-3.

Another Jackson Villa interception could not be converted for more points, but after an apparent touchdown run by Danyl Wyndhorst was called back on a holding call, Demirici chipped in a 19-yarder to put the game away, 12-3 to give the Regulars their sixth win.

Another strong defensive effort sees the Regulars with the fewest points allowed thus far in group play at 82 points total. The next lowest is the Kytler Peninsulae, with 87.

Also of note: a week after the offense was carried by rookie QB Leif Erikson, Erikson was only 5/8 for 48 yards. Also getting time under center was Zofya Hanriksun, once the team shifted to an option-style attack after the half. She was 2/2 passing for 16 yards and rushed four times for 35 yards. By contrast, Danyl Wyndhorst rushed 14 times for 124 yards, Ryan Myers rushed 12 times for 103 yards, and Ole Nurdsunn rushed six times for 47 yards, and Myra Dercik rushed three times for 16 yards, and as a team rushed 39 times for 325 yards.

Coach Ryan Smart was asked about what he thought about playing in a snowstorm for the second time this season.

"Well, from what I've heard from the players, there aren't really any objections to playing in the snow a lot. And a lot of them actually prefer it, especially the linemen and the running backs. I like it because it gives our players the opportunity to distinguish themselves. And frankly, we train for it, so it's nothing we can't adjust to. Forecasts are saying that snow storm systems might be hitting Skarrsboro and Thomasburg over the next month or so, so opponents should probably be ready for it. We will be."

Chrinthanium Trounced By Darmen...... Again
by Jake Warren, Chrinthani Football Newswire

DARMEN - It seems no matter what the Chrinthani National Team does, the Football gods have it in for the Imperials. In what Coach Petrillo stated was, "an even bigger disaster than the first game, despite scoring more points," the Imperials were, again, blown out of the water by the Darmen National Team. The implosion began at the onset of the game as the Darmen Quarterback, Dennis Caldrige, linked up with Wide Receiver Mark Ingram for a 71-yard touchdown on the opening play of the Darmen drive. This pair would connect again in the first quarter on a 14 yard pass to bring the score 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. QB Shane Reynolds would bring some life to Chrinthanium when he connected with Wide Receiver Kai Bolden on a broken play by the Darmen defense to start the second quarter. The 59 yard touchdown pass would being the Imperials within a score. After Caldridge threw an interception on the next drive, the Imperials would manage to kick a field goal, and bring the score closer, training Darmen 10-14. A late second quarter field goal by Darmen kicker Frank Lambert would give Darmen a 21-10 lead at the half.

It would be in the second half that the massacre began. In the third quarter, Caldridge would toss a touchdown pass to WR Lee Evans to go ahead 28-10. Shane Reynolds would be picked off on the ensuing drive by Darmen Cornerback Jerry Gray, which would be returned for a score. 35-10 at the end of the third quarter. THe Chrinthani defense would stiffen in the last quarter, allowing Darmen just a field goal, but, the Imperials themselves couldn't manage anymore than one more field goal. As the final second ticked off the clock, the Imperials were blown out--again, and by almost the same exact score as before--38-13.

With that loss, Chrinthanium worries about whether it will make it out of the group stage.

Group stage. This reporter thinks that the problem with the World Bowl is using a Group Stage. Football can't be worked like Soccer. If the game is bastardized and shaped to conform to an order that is suited for a completely different game, those who play the pure game; those who know how it really works; those who believe in the spirit of the game, find themselves confused by rules that simply shouldn't exist for this game.
