SEASON ELEVEN: PART ONE

As the Liga hurls towards those awkward teenage years, one thing is for certain: Avidia United are the team to beat. The question, then, is "who will beat them"? The answer? Well, that would be telling, but with the Daii and the two Emberton clubs being joined by a rejuvnated Ousevale, the dark horses of Kepayan, and a Telecontarë side fortified with vitamins, minerals, and Vanorians, it could well be a big scrap.

Right, enough of the set-up, let's get to some Liga XI action!

MATCHDAY 1
We start, of course, with the Champions' Kick-Off; once again it's at the New City Stadium, and it's Liga winners versus Copa winners as Avidia play Hecia. The Starblaydi side, though, spoil the party, and it's the Cygnus Cup champions with the win.

It's a mixed bag for the promoted sides, meanwhile. Cedrus announce their return to the top flight with a win over Mercia, whilst Hallad manage a creditable draw against the Reds; it's bad news, though, for Stanton and Kallia, hammered 5-0 by Corinth and 4-0 by Foxchester respectively. Iskara Daii defeat Sembulan 3-0 to complete a Starblaydi lockout of the top three.

Iskara and Hecia are the other teams two-for-two after wins over Telecontarë and Foxchester respectively, whilst the bottom four (all with zero points) are an all-Krytenian bunch, with New Cefn, Northwood, new boys Kallia and reigning champions Avidia.

Well, that's just what you need after two surprise defeats; a game against Iskara Daii. Avidia's title defence goes from bad to worse as they make it no points from three games with defeat to the men in red and black.

It's good news for the Daii too, as the win takes them top. Hecia and Corinth lose their 100% records by drawing with each other, and it's left to Royal Emberton to keep the pressure on.

Elsewhere, the Mercian clubs announced their arrival back at the table of competence with big wins; the Tigers hit Hallad for seven, whilst the "Battle of the Cygnus Teams" finished Mercia five, Northwood none.

Four games, no goals, no points; methinks Kallia may be going straight back down this season. Admittedly, the last defeat was only 1-0 to Ousevale...and the way things are going,they could be taking Avidia United with them. The Eagles drew with Kepayan to score their first point of the season, but you have to wonder how they're doing quite so badly early on.

At the top, Iskara and Royals both draw, and Corinthian Spirits are the new leaders on goal difference.

Royals implode at home to Foxchester, and the Daii are three points clear after crushing Stanton's spuds in a spiky vice. Mercia's rehabilitation continues as they go second with a win against Avidia "How In The Name Of Margaret Are We Bottom?!?" United.

Pathaniši Estate Match

Tertius Shajarhayam – In a season when the great Zhevassi juggernaut at last gobbled up its third title in record-breaking style, it shouldn't be any surprise that the Galacticos' players were in overwhelming demand for Lady Pathaniši's annual powwow. (Every year, the pre-match dinner seems to grow ever more extravagant, am I the only one who's noticed that?) Eight of the eleven players in Zhevassi's starting lineup were present to don either the Red-Blues' or the Orange-Violets' shirt.

Speaking of which... debate is beginning to rage over whether the Red-Blues vs. Orange-Violets dichotomy should last any longer. Many fans, having noticed that at present the league is evenly split between Kagdaz and Pazhujebi sides, are suggesting that the teams for the Federation's "All-Star Game" be decided by which of the two countries selected players' clubs are located in. Sound familiar? That's because this idea, if implemented, would be very much like the Zarblese All-Star Game.

But others point out the flaws in this idea; for instance, at the moment Pazhujebi clubs are by far more successful than Kagdaz ones. This would result in a disproportionate match that might be far less fun for neutrals to watch. And what about Angels? They play half their home games in Dyurtyuli (in Kagdazka) and the other half in Mahathu (in Pazhujebu). Would they be considered Kagdaz or Pazhujebi, and therefore which team would any selected Angels players play for?

It seems to be a debate that could rage endlessly on if allowed to. So it stands to reason that the international community has some say. Write in to the Herald, and let us know whether you think we should continue to use the Red-Blues vs. Orange-Violets matchup, where Lady Pathaniši decides which teams to place players on, or whether we should start sorting players by which country their club plays in! Sort of nice, if you look at the split between ethnically Kagdaz, Pazhujebi, and foreign players; it's as close to a three-way tie as you can get. With seven of the twenty-two players hailing from Kagdazka, eight from Pazhujebu, and seven foreigners, a nice diverse mix will be on show. Contrast this, however, with the nationality of the players' clubs, which are overwhelmingly Pazhujebi. No surprises, really, when you look at the last few First Division tables; it's all Zhevassi, Urajbina, and Juvapanam... and that's why you see so many players from those three large Pazhujebi clubs in these teams.

In terms of skill, we can refreshingly report that almost nothing separates these two sides. Lady Pathaniši's selections should make for a lot of parity out on the pitch. However, there's one place where you can see a bit of imbalance, and that's where it could count the most: the strikers. Now, nobody disagrees that the best four forwards in the league last year were the ones who've been called for this game. The problem is, everyone knows who the best two of those four are: Filipov and Omelchenko. Guess who've been paired together for the Red-Blues? Will that be the determining factor?

Yeah, apparently, it was the determining factor.

It was never even close. Funny how every single time you try and predict this little annual contest, it blows up in your face. The All-Star Match that we all expected to be the closest ever turned into the biggest blowout ever. We saw a totally unbalanced game, which was good for seeing goals, one supposes... as long as everyone kept watching after the Red-Blues scored their third... or fourth... or fifth.

What made them so good? Well, we should have bloody seen it, really. The six "attacking" players that the Red-Blues had on their team were arguably the very best six players in the league. It was simply arguable as to whether they'd work together or not. Having three Juvapanam midfielders in there certainly helped... though they're no longer the champions, Juvapanam's players still have indomitable spirits.

Strange that in a five-goal rout, just one goal was scored by a striker. The others were scored by a winger (who collected a brace), a fullback, and a crunching defensive midfielder. This basically indicates the Red-Blues all-around superiority.

End of Season Awards

Last year the KPFA suspiciously left out a whole bunch of categories and just gave out a "Player of the Year" award... to the same guy who'd gotten in the year before. Like we say, suspicious behavior all around. Remember how their offices smelled like tequila? It was like Sorthern Northland were about to win the World Cup or something. I mean, we knew something was up. Luckily, things look a bit more transparent this season, as positional awards are back.

No surprise that Zhevassi swept the awards for this year. They were simply the best... but for a solitary loss to Shadows in mid-season, they would have been unbeaten. It was a little weird to see Kiril Akhmetbekov get snubbed for Defender of the Year in favor of Innokentiy Vaskaryev, but undoubtedly there are no hard feelings between the two (I mean, hopefully not, they play next to each other in our national team). Besides, Vaskaryev did basically single-handedly keep Urnabhi from going down when everyone... I mean, everyone... thought they would.

A well-deserved Player of the Year coronation ceremony took place for the 21-year-old enforcing midfielder Yakoko after the Pathaniši Estate Match. In addition to having had a superb year during which his team lost just a single game, his story is remarkable, as in the two seasons prior to this most recent one he had been with Vezhidrupa ZL, who astonishingly rose from the Third Division to the First under Yakoko's courageous leadership. His transfer to Zhevassi at the start of the year was predicted by some to revolutionize and galvanize the Zhevassi lineup, and as sure as the Federation's top flight's trophy now sits in a cabinet somewhere on the Zahuj Peninsula, it did. The young lad must surely now be in contention to make it into the Federation national team.

Yakoko's winning of the Player of the Year Award signifies the third consecutive year in which a defensive midfielder has collected the honor, as Juvapanam's Edorta Urrustoy had won it after the two previous seasons.

) are proud to announce the results of their first even domestic league. Expect a full breakdown of what the independence of Bleak Rock means for players and the FPIFA in Polar Islandstates' league preview, coming next week, but for now, here are the results.

Bleak Rock has a history of four competing noble families, Hús Hreindýr of the Caribou, Hús Hrafninn of the Raven, Hvítabjörninn Hús, of the Bear, and Hús Náhvalur of the Narwhal. With heraldry and rivalries amongst them, and a complicated alliance and enemy history that reaches back hundreds of years, these four Hús used to despise each other, and fought for supremacy on the island. Those days are gone now, but the island is still roughly divide into four quarters, and teams in the league very definitely fly the flag for a particular Hús.

Um...dih dih dih de dah...the way we expanded the tournament was to make the overseas teams play the other first division teams, for a grand total of few you have heard of in the first round. After a pair of 1-1 draws, fans could have been forgiven for panicking...but things have changed since the Copa Nacional, oh yes they have, and the upshot was an overtime thriller; Arroyandos blew an extra-time lead, but rallied back to win anyway. Sort of like Estudiantes, when Estudiantes were good.

Grisolon press tripped over themselves in the race to make the Hail Mary Touchdown puns, which would have gone over better if more people in Grisolon (or Rofi, or Guillermo) knew how to read. More extra time thrills for Arroyandos; I am informed it was the same person who scored their first extra time goal, but they're kind of foreign anyway and we don't really care. And more extra time thrills for...let's see, Ojedo Cerro against some scary-looking foreign cows. Let's say Cortez scored that one. Is needing extra time to beat that kind of team a sign that they're lucky? Or really not that good? And then there was the Deportes Derby! Two goals for Andrés Lozano helped get Cobrelunas through. Not bad for a 1-1 matchup, even if it took two legs to get even that far.

Probably.) And it was the end of the line for Universidad de Arroyandos, edged out on a goal from Toda Lupa Sea to see Vista del Oeste through. (They're near Íguen, who are still somehow in the thing, and play with a vaguely similar style so counting up to 6-5 was a bit of a chore.) Whether this has actually put Arroyandos on the map (hint: it's north of Sufuérte) is unclear, given as how it kind of doesn't count as Aguazul, in a sense, but surely their name will ring bells now even among the geographically-challenged.

For the fourth time in the five year history of the Mangolana premier league, Skyline United has won the title in the most highly contested year ever. In a back and forth contest, between Arsenrall and United, Arsenrall headed into the final game of the season with a 1 point lead on United. The only problem was, there final game was at Skyline United. United, who has not lost at home in two years now, demolished the Arsenrall defense, giving them a crushing 4-1 defeat, which also handed United the title. The teams though, throughout the season did not fair well were Dalenderain and Sarcaloss, who were both relegated to the Super League. While Narcana and Mascona Fidel were promoted to the Premier league.

Club: Athletic Stanza: Always title challengers, but Zamba might prove too strong for them again. With virtually the entire youth academy on loan this season, it'll be fascinating to see how they do next season when their youth returns.

Club: Borderlands Sport: Chairman Thomas Colchester has promised Globe Cup football within 5 years, but that looks impossible with the current squad.

Club: Central City FC: Once a dependably mid-table side, the Hikers have been slipping down the table lately, a trend that new manager John Jackson will be keen to reverse.

Club: Chitwick University: Manager Edward Noone has said the club can establish themselves in the Platinum League, only time will tell if he's right.

Club: Creedence FC: "Creedence sum up everything that's wrong with the game" according to former Unitopolitan manager Jack Beade. An interfering but wealthy chairman, a tendency to buy foreign rather than Unitopolitan players, a tiny ground and the frequent allegations of corruption and bribery levelled at the club's directors, it's fair to say Creedence aren't a great advertisement for the game, but can they cut it in the Platinum League?

Club: Dynapolis United: With a good mixture of youth and experience, they should challenge for the Globe Cup places.

Club: Gleeson City United: Phillip Scott has made several smart buys, such as Jack Young from Wexwick for £1.5million and Karl Ode for £6million from Rihiki, expect The Cheesemakers to break into the top 10.

Club: Gratizoli: Major investment has been promised by the Peruccis and if invested well, the Islanders could well be title challengers.

Club: Krazaky BK: Saved from relegation last season in the final few weeks, might not be so lucky this season.

Club: LC Lagoa: Their season hinges on whether the brilliant but volatile partnership between Aro Saki and Thomas Huddle remains intact. If both can stay fit and talking to each other, LC could challenge for the Globe Cup places.

Club: Litmus Avenue FK: Have learned their lesson from their relegation two seasons ago by buying Platinum League-proven attackers such as Rihiki's Shaun Cole and former Central City striker Kris Enhartsson.

Club: FC Mostov 1896: Vladimir Grozen made no transfers in the close season, and Mostov will struggle to stay in the division.

Club: New Dublin Dragons: Unlikely title challengers last season, should challenge for the Globe Cup next season.

Club: RC Otilla: Boringly comfortable, but that's a testament to the job Barry Gannon has done in the 8 years since promotion.

Club: Rihiki: The club's best players have had to be sold to finance the redevelopment of The Fortress, much to the chagrin of ex-manager Richard Walker, who resigned and has been replaced by the unproven John Blanch-Carter.

Club: Univerbardé: Forever on the fringes of the Globe Cup spots, this might be the season that they make a serious challenge for them.

Club: Van Sahar: Manager Stephen Sullivan is still performing miracles with limited funds and a limited squad. His cause hasn't been helped by the sale of club captain Robert Sean Morrison to Athletic Stanza for £18m.

Club: Wexwick: Finished way below expectations last season, and the club's owners have been forced to bring in new players and a new manager in Seamus Máthruaigh.

Club: Xavier Athletic: New owners KC Investments have demanded no lower than 12th, but haven't invested anywhere near enough. In his first high-profile managerial job, all the pressure is on John Logan.

Club: Zamba Torpedoes: "The Drive for Five" is very much a possibility, as the Torpedoes go after their third consecutive title. The core of the team are all under 25, so there could be a lot more league titles on the way.

Cape Renko Dolphins: In the old league they could never clinch a title, but they will attempt it this year. A team mainly made up of Indigenous stars, they usually glimmer with chemistry and teamwork. If a star player is injured, there is always a young gun or veteran to replace him on the field. A new, bigger stadium has been built to house the Dolphins this year.
Home Stadium: Karkoski Brews Stadium: Capacity: 54,000
Expectations: Title and International Competitions.

Wanderers FC: Wanderers were always expected to be a good team. That’s what they have generally been. But the question that’s on everyone’s tongue is if they can win a title. With stars like Manfini, Ronazo and Hunser, they should challenge. But can they, for once, live up to their real hype?
Home Ground: Eastern Stadium: Capacity: 73,000
Expectations: Top 3 and possible title challengers, International Competitions

Eastern Rangers: A vastly improving team in the last competition, have they matured, or will they fall down the table again? Eastern Rangers somehow pulled off a good performance last season, out of seemingly nowhere. The signs look good for the team, with several new editions including Gpol from Western Hillmen, and many mature age recruits picked out from foreign countries. It will be a challenge this year for the Rangers, but a challenge they will be looking forward to.
Home Ground: Stuffed Air Stadium: Capacity: 65,000
Expectations: Top 4 finish

Gonesville Eels: Gonesville performed fairly well in the Competition of old, but never challenged. Their list is relatively unchanged, and will look to break into the top four, or at worst, stay in the top six.

Thaplace City Tigers: After finishing second in the first ever season of the Stuffed Taxidermists Premier League; everyone thought that TCT would be genuine title challengers. They were not. They will look to turn their bad fortune around in the new league and get a fresh start.

Expectations: Mid Table, Top Six Finish

Thaplace City United: Always in the shadow of their rivals TCT, TCU will try their hardest this season. Maybe their depleted squad will show signs of improvement this year. Their biggest games of the year will be the derbies against rivals TCT, and they will hope to win them both.

Expectations: Mid Table, Possible Top Six chance.

Brenton Athletic: Resident cellar dwellers of the past seasons, things do not look bright for Brenton. Always down there with a chance of relegation, things have not changed much over the past few years for Brenton. Although new edition Paul Omar might change things at the club, one man cannot always change things.
Home Ground: Retuka Stadium: Capacity: 80,000
Expectations: Mid Table, possible relegation.
Supporter Numbers: Medium

Kenworth United: There are remarkable resemblances between rivals Kenworth and Brenton. Kenworth also look bad, and finished behind Brenton in the last season on goal difference. They will need to try to avoid relegation. Maybe young goalkeeper Barry Holes will help them.
Home Ground: George I Convention Centre: Capacity 21,000
Expectations: Relegation, Lower Table
Supporter Numbers: Low

Denzio Demons: Promoted team Denzio look in decent form. They will try to avoid relegation this year, and challenge Kenworth and Brenton for their positions, and stamp themselves a real spot in the league.

Ravton Town: From the growing town of Ravton, comes a growing football team. Their form will be unpredictable this year. Maybe they’ll do well maybe they won’t. Their line up includes Matthew Westen, Davey Reech, Aidan Adams and more.

Herseld Nationals: The split nations of Northern and Southern Herseld have managed to put their differences aside and draw together a football club to compete in the ST Premier league. Players such as Jacob Hensill and Jackson Fert have returned to lay with their home countries team, so Herseld might gain something this season

It was an intresting season in all divisions. Western Hillmen once again had the edge, taking it into the new reformed league. Wanderers and Eastern Rangers attempted to challenge at times, but it was beyond them. The Hillmen had a magnificent year finishing ten points clear of second placed Wanderers. Their skill simply showed all year, and many teams could just not take the individual efforts that the Hillmen players put in. In second place, Wanderers FC lived up to the hype, gaining a Globe Cup spot. Although not the best team this year, their accurate passing and good flow of the ball allowed tem to score efficent goals all year round. Eastern Rangers, in third, will be very pleased with their efforts. They have cemented their place as an official top four side, after finishing dead last in the opening season of the old league, with only two wins. Teamwork and good coaching was a highlight of their season. Cape Renko finished in fourth, with a slightly disappointing season. Their team did not function well in big matches and although they got the top four finish, there will be no International Competitions for them this season. TCT managed a surprising fifth, playing slightly better than their rivals TCU who finished sixth. Both teams will be happy to have rounded out the top six, and may push for the top four in the coming seasons. Herseld Nationals finished seventh, with an impressive first season. They made their homeground a stronghold, and it became hard for any team to play there. Brenton rounded out the mid table with an average season, but are yet to challenge for the top six. Gonesville Eels came next, having a very bad season. Nothing exciting came for the club during the season, and they may have to try heavy scouting to find more talent for next year. Kenworth United had an even worse season than their last one, finishing tenth. Life at Kenworth looks bleak for the next few years. Denzio Demons managed to avoid relgation. They will also be struggling next year when Denborough come back, and it will be a challenge to keep their heads above the water. Ravton Town were relegated. The football they played was simply not First Division worthy, and they should settle for a mid table spot in the Second Division next season.

Denborough FC won the Second Division quite easily in the end. Next year should be a challenge for them. Retuka Town finished in second, followed by Jifcel United and Gonesville Knights. Nochinville dropped out of the top four, and it will be interesing to see next year if Ravton Town can gain a top four spot. Tippet Hawks were relegated to the Third Division

Yun City won the first ever Third Division title by a single point over the Applecross Jets. The City of Yun, which is mostly populated by Asian immigrants, will be happy that one of their teams is succesful. Yun Rovers, the other team from the City of Yun, did not have such a good year finishing second last in front of Underwarn FC.

The ST Cup will soon take place, an Eastern Rangers, Wanderers and Cape Renko will see it as an opportunity to challenge the Hillmen. It will be fierce competition, and we should see some good efforts from the not so good teams as well.

Preview: The departure of Alexsandr van Sorensen to Cafundulense team CR Submiria was seen by many as an inevitable event, with there only being so long Koch could stand in the way of his developing talents. The main question is how Koch will fill his gap, the answer coming in the form of recent firestarter Aer and new signing Cone. The midfield of Turco, Bosc, and Eygenroy will also be key to their dominating possession based attacking football, with Lja and Hastings whipping in the crosses for the forwards.
Last Season: Champions.
Prediction: Disappointing in international competition, but signings should ensure they don't feel the loss of van Sorensen too deeply. 1st.

Preview: With the departure of Patrick Ackermann-Finn to A.F.F., Teemu Johansson once more find himself trying to restructure a front line partnership, and the presence of Amadeus Irndtor up front may yet make the perfect foil for Astograth star Ormache. Defensive frailties and questions over Andreasson's temperament have lead to key foreign signings Meolans, Potter, and Bobó. Coming second to Jan Mayen last season will have stung them, let's see if they can wrestle the title back.
Last Season: 2nd.
Prediction: Have made some good signings to compensate losing Hansen and Ackermann-Finn, but might not quite stretch far enough. 2nd.

Preview: Always there or thereabouts come the end of the season, Resolute Storm have finished 2nd, 3rd, and 3rd in the seasons so far. A reliance on McAllister could prove costly should he get injured, but once again don't expect to see them give away many cheap goals. Not many go to Mossy Park and take any points away with them, as those in the Rushmori CdlC found out when Resolute reached the semi finals.
Last Season: 3rd.
Prediction: Globe Cup regulars now, expect to see them there once more. 4th.

Preview: Fjelden has made great leaps and strides with this team recently, taking them from mid-table into international competitions. Berghoff and Blonqvist have proved lethal in the pre-season, and if they get it right in the league expect to see sparks fly, and SK fans looking worried across the city at their fierce rivals' ascendency. Exciting centre back Ole Gyulla from Mytannion should shore things up at the back, whilst youth prospect Baalsen will be given many a chance to bomb down the wing terrorising defenders.

Prediction: Possibly the closest rivals to the SK/Islanders hold. 3rd.

North Star Grímsey

Preview: Climbing steadily year by year, North Star have constructed a well built team that doesn't rely on superstars to get results, instead working like a supremely designed engine to get the job done. Tasted heartbreak in consecutive Latitude Cup finals and will be desperate to overcome their demons and push for an international competition spot.
Last Season: 5th.
Prediction: Could fall short as other teams make strides forwards. 6th.

Red Star Severny
Location: Severny, Novaya Zemlya

Manager: Mathias Paatelainen
Captain: Adam Nicklas, ST
Key Player: Maarten Szkovicz, ML
Preview: Will be disappointed at their final league position from last year after starting so strongly and holding their top three position until the final weeks of the season. If the team gels well they could well push for an international spot. Expect them to fall short of this though, as improvements to the squad called for by Paatelainen just haven't been made.
Last Season: 6th.
Prediction: One of an upper central block of teams that could finish anywhere from international competition to relegation threatened. 5th.

Yuzhny Equinox FC
Location: Yuzhny, Novaya Zemlya
Stadium: Commerce Park (29,492)
Manager: Michael Knudsen
Captain: Tommi Kokkur, MR
Key Player: Dmitri Karlsson, GK
Preview: A third placed finish in the inaugural season may have been a fluke, as Yuzhny fans have had to suffer mid-table results since then. Commerce Park is looking tired and shabby and the boardroom's attentions may not be fully on the pitch. No big signings have been made and they could struggle.
Last Season: 7th.
Prediction: Progress grinding to a halt in Yuzhny I'm afraid. 9th.

FC Axel Heiburg
Location: Axel Heiburg, Axel Heiburg

Preview: Just escaping relegation in their first season since winning Divisjon Two, Axel Heiburg consolidated their position last season by making sound progress in their technical skills. Can pass many a team off the park on their day but still suffer from defensive frailties.
Last Season: 8th.
Prediction: Making steady if unremarkable progress, Axel may well climb up the table. 7th.

RSK Longyearbyen Town
Location: Longyearbyen, Svalbard
Stadium: Sivertsson Road (28,548)

Key Player: Vyacheslav Merkens (MYT), MC
Preview: You just never know which Longyearbyen team is going to turn up on the day, the bored and uninterested selection of saps, or the fierce and battling tenacious pitbulls of Sivertsson Road. Whilst their home support is key to their home performances, they do tend to wither up when travelling somewhere, and Miroslav Pvanic must find a way to work Merkens in with the strikers more efficiently, as teams higher up the table are circling him eagerly.
Last Season: 9th.
Prediction: Even though I wouldn't be surprised to see them challenging for international competitions, I think their unpredictability could undo them too often. 11th.

FC Cape St Paul
Location: St Paul, Nunivak

Key Player: Gunnar Mackenzie (BLR), ST
Preview: A revelation in their first season in the top flight, Cape St Paul have made good signings in key areas to maintain their aim of playing attractive attacking football no matter the oppposition. The partnership of Thompson and Mackenzie up front will be crucial for them, whilst the presence of Echardi and Shmulikoski should provide ample defensive muscle in the centre of the park.
Last Season: 10th.
Prediction: A solid mid-table performance, Baum St Weiss' adventurers shall continue their voyage. 8th.

FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls

Preview: An incredibly disappointing league performance last season saw them lose playmaker Ole van Jendrisen to the Mytannion league, despite lifting the Latitude Cup. Will turn to youngsters Finnibaturinn and Legeren in the centre of the park to put in some dynamic performances to seal the 50/50 games in their favour.
Last Season: 11th.
Prediction: Could feasibly finish anywhere from 5th to 12th, but expect them to consolidate and take stock of last season by not taking too many risks and building the foundations of recovery. 10th.

AC Aleutia Volcanoes
Location: Aleutia Town, Aleutia
Stadium: McAllister Way (21,492)
Manager: Sara Kalashnikov

Key Player: Marco Mikkinen, DC
Preview: Season after season, Sara Kalashnikov has defied the critics to work wonders with her team. Expect them to be loud brash, aggressive, but capable of beautiful moments of seamless clarity. A lack of youth in the ranks could prove to be their undoing late on in the season however.
Last Season: 12th.
Prediction: I look at them, and I'm just not sure they've got the legs for this anymore. Restructuring needed. 15th.

FC Torshavn
Location: Torshavn, Farosea

Key Player: Jorgen-Franz Bru, MC
Preview: Narrowly avoided falling down to Divisjon Two last season, Olaf Kurfuroy will aim to keep their heads above the water once again this season. The discoveries of Jorgen-Franz Bru and Torre Urfstadt could prove to be a crucial pair, and if they can withhold the attentions of SK, their presence could keep them in the division. As long the delivery gets to new signing, Erathi striker Michael Osic, they should score enough. The question is how many can they keep out?
Last Season: 13th.
Prediction: Seemingly stronger than last season, expect less 'headless-chicken', and more 'composed cockerel'. 12th.

Koppen Rig Force
Location: Torshavn, Farosea

Key Player: Mikkel Birkeland, ST
Preview: Fans' delight at joining their cross-city rivals FC Torshavn in the top tier could soon turn to horror at the standard of the top teams' football if things don't happen quite right. Melvik should be able to lead from the front on the pitch however, and Hangeland and Juul's youth could bounce them around the older teams with verve.
Last Season: Champions, Divisjon Two
Prediction: Should be okay provided they keep their heads screwed on. 13th.

Severnaya Zemlya 88 Equinox
Location: Zemlya, Novaya Zemlya

Preview: Coming up as something of a surprise package last season, this could be a tough season for Severnaya. With a huff and a puff they may struggle to defeat the teams around them but Levken has instilled a marvellous fighting spirit in his team that could well see them spring many an upset on their return to the top tier.
Last Season: 2nd, Divisjon Two
Prediction: Will fight gallantly, but it may just prove too much. 14th.

Novaya Sibir Reds

Prediction: I'm sorry, I just can't see them staying up. 16th.
