Geography

Location:
Exact Location: 40°00N and 4°00W
Relative Location: Skeenation is the westernmost nation on the island continent of Jungtropa. It is bordering 3 nations (as soon as people begin to join my region they will be listed) as well as two major bodies of water; The Skoming Ocean to the west, and The Joplin Sea to the east.

Terrain:
The terrain of Skeenation varies greatly depending on location. Coastal regions are often home to beach like terrain. The Southern regions are a mixture of desert and grassland depending on how close to the shoreline you are. The Northern Eastern regions are more mountainous and forest based while North Western regions as well as the Mid Western regions are more urban and flat.

Climate:
Like the terrain, the nation's climates vary greatly depending on area as well. Southern regions have a very dry climate almost never acquiring any rainfall. Coastal regions offer tropical climates with dry and warm weather in the spring and summer while in the winter and fall they are more prone to harsh rains. North Eastern regions are frigid and are hit by snowstorms often with relief coming only in the summer. Meanwhile the North Western and Mid Western regions contain temperate climates often having moderate seasons with no major weather occurrences.

History

The Beginning Years: (1906-1940)
The nation of Skeenation was founded by four major groups of pioneers looking to establish a home to express their values and opinions freely as well as compete in an open market in 1906, and was promptly named, the Confederacy of Skeenation. The nation's first elected leader was Franco Killinger (a wealthy merchant from the now deceased, old country of Skimplosi) , of the GSP (Gracious Skeenation Party) which of whom won in a landslide victory and was elected and served for four terms as President until his death January 28, 1938 at age 63. During his time as president, KIllinger, was able to establish Skeenation as both a technological and military powerhouse as well as ensure the rights of its citizens were protected. He also caused the economy to skyrocket allowing citizens to live in a life for general comfort until his death 2 days before his term would have ended.

The Troubled Years: (1940-1956)
With the President dead, the nation had to decide on a new leader. The choice seemed obvious, Jim Vikoklo of the Nationalist Party, a man who was famed for his ability to emerge from the lower class of society and become a key congressman during the Killinger Years. Vikoklo was able to keep the people pleased during his first term as President, the people were granted even more extensive rights and he established multiple social welfare programs to assist the lower class. It was not until his second term that his administration began to fail. During his second term, much of the welfare programs established by Vikoklo began to be exploited by much of the population crippling the country's economy with the amounts of money being pumped out to support the "suffering" public. With the economy dying, funds were forced to be drawn away from law enforcement and education leading to spikes in crimes by the majority of the nation's youths. By the end of Vikoklo's second term, he had left a failure and brought the country to shambles.

Recovery: (1956-1988)
As the country was trying to piece itself together, it became apparent that there would need to be multitude of changes to get the country back on its feet. In order to do this, the nation felt that it needed to gain a moral high-ground in society, and with that Levon Montoya of the CMP (Conservative Morality Party) who promised to bring the nation back to its prime by establishing traditional Skeenationite values was elected. Levon's first order of business was to clean up the welfare programs built by the Vikoklo Administration. Montoya established requirements to receive certain types of welfare as well as establishing a set of checks and balances for the government workers involved in the programs, allowing them to earn more pay and benefits by proving honesty as well as going above and beyond in their work. This helped lower fraudulent claims from citizens and allowed the government to begin to allocate money to help business recover as well as start to fund law enforcement. As the economy began to rise and crime rates began to drop, citizens rights began to slip as well. Protests became more regulated, some information became blocked to the public, and the ability to use recreational drugs became a crime. Even so, the nation felt these were small prices to pay for stability.

Stability: (1988-2004)
With the nation enjoying its new found stability and re-surge of power, the people felt that it was best to allow the country to enter into a Laissez-faire state of government and Anthony Skee of the Nationalist Party allowed just that. Skee's ideas were simple, let the country run itself and only act if required. His time as president was unremarkable until near the end of his forth term.

Civil War: (2004-2011)
By the end of his forth term, President Skee thought he was able to lead his country well enough to keep the public happy. Unfortunately that was not the case as terrorist bombings began to break out from terrorist fringes such as a large terrorist cell (CSM) of communist supporters led by Emma Jameson, a minority interested terrorist group (MLF) led by Xavier Humblo, and a small group of animal liberationists led by Zachary Bloofinshi. The terrorists all had different demands but had used the same violent tactics. The nation soon engaged in a long and bloody civil war as the established government attempted to purge the terrorists from their nation. After five long bloody years of combat (in which Anthony Skee remained president unelected), the government had almost been able to establish control in the region. Unfortunately, the nation's military generals had been planning to betray their own government when stability had almost been ensured. On Feburary 2, 2011 Commander David Tomanka had seized governmental power establishing the Military Dictatorship of Skeenation similar to that of 1940s Japan.

Constitution:
The constitution of Skeenation was finalized on August 14, 1908. The constitution it was originally written to preserve the rights of free speech, free market, freedom of religion, and a multitude of other basic human rights. It had also allowed Skeenation's citizen's the right to keep and bear arms, the right to vote, the right to defend oneself in court, and the right to a fair trial. Even so, since the military coupe of the government, freedom of speech has been limited to times outside of government claimed "crisis", Citizen's are only allowed to elect officials within their Provinces and Cities as all government matters are voted on by a board of high ranked military officials and finalized by Commander Tomanka.

National Heroes

President Franco Killinger: The Nation's first leader, had established the country as a global superpower.

President Levon Montoya: Helped lead the nation out of a Depression.

Commander David Tomanka: Skeenationite Commander who was able to overthrow the government during the Skeenation Civil War and establish order through out the nation.

Pridesman Kevin McLaughlin: Soldier whom during the civil war went through a hail of gun fire to save sixteen civilians trapped underneath the rubble of a collapsed building.

Serviceman Grade-II Bobby "Chippy" Von Dort: After the majority of his squad was torn to pieces by a terrorist machine-gun emplacement during the civil war, Von Dort rallied his surviving squad-mates and was able to destroy the emplacement as well as ambush a convoy of tanks on its way to reinforce the terrorist stronghold.

Pastor Nicholas Mancini JR.: Led many charity events during the Depression (1940-1956) to help families in need of shelter, clothing and food.
