IN CHARACTER RP IS UP:IC RP
The Aikio Islands is an uninhabited chain of islands that have swapped hands between numerous nations for the better portion of nearly two centuries, thanks to its relatively close proximity to vital shipping lanes. While it was seen as a somewhat strategic point, it was primarily only used as a temporary stopping point of fleets launching attacks, and storage of munitions. The weather, rough terrain, lack of clean water, temperament of the local tides, and other factors made many occupiers view the island chain as impractical to use as a long term base. Eventually, in the late 1800s, the Korthian Empire gained control of the islands once and for all, or so they thought. The Empire would spend the next century adding anti-ship and anti-air weaponry, increasing and upgrading fortifications, and constructing infrastructure for a garrison of soldiers stationed there. The island was primarily used to store surplus weapons, ammunition, gear, and equipment before it could be shipped to Korthia’s colonies. However, following an increase in tensions with Hathian Prime that eventually led to war, Korthia was forced to abandon the Island leaving nearly everything behind in airtight and sealed bunkers, with the plan to return post-war, as the island became seen as strategically unviable for the time being. The Korthians would never get the chance to return. After suffering a humiliating defeat to Hathian Prime and her allies, they lost almost all of their overseas territories, including Aikio, due to a post-war treaty.
Angered by the defeat of Korthia and her allies, a group of high ranking Korthian Marine and Naval Officers took their respective units, as well as civilians, militia, and anyone else who would join them, and fled to the Akio islands in 1953 to start anew. There, they quickly descended from a group of separatists who felt scorned by their nation to a group of radical doomsday cult members who launched raids against shipping lanes to gain new members, ships, and to gather vital equipment to survive on the unforgiving island. At first, they were a minor nuisance that could be ignored or avoided altogether. But upon the capture of the last Korthian Battlecruiser along with a handful of PT boat escorts and an escort carrier, the scale of the threat the cultists posed was finally realized. It was also another national embarrassment for Korthia, who only lost the vessels due to the fact it had supplied the ships with minimal ammo for their weapons and small-arms, and had been running the ships with a Skeleton crew.
The government of Hathian Prime has extended an invitation to any nation willing to join an operation to neutralize the threat via amphibious invasion and the capture or deaths of the cult’s leadership.
The RP will start on April 12th, 1958, right as the Hathian/Allied Fleet arrives near the island and begins moving into their position for the beginning of Operation Cleric.
Do note that combat is expected be high-intensity with low frequency. It’s expected that most of the campaign will be rescuing, securing, and escorting any hostages, civilians, or POWs off of the island.
The Hathenians and a few allying nations have chosen to attack from the South while simultaneously launching an air campaign against designated targets across the island. The map and battle plans will be posted in a separate post.
Rules:
1. Please be literate and somewhat detailed. Occasional one paragraph posts are okay, but avoid lines such as: “The Hathenian Military deploys 20,000 troops. They sail to the islands and set up camp on the northern shores before moving inland.”
2. The tech is mid 1950s(55-59) and early 60s(60-64)Early versions of assault rifles are fine to use in RP, but they will be few and far between. Unrealistic technology for the period(such as mechs or satellite-based weapons) is prohibited.
3. Be semi-realistic. The RP won’t force people to have to wait months IRP for their troops to arrive, but don’t have armies teleporting or traveling distances they realistically couldn’t cover in the allotted time.
4. No GodModding/Meta-Gaming. You will take losses during the campaign. How many is determined by your actions and strategy.
5. If you have read all the rules, put “All Hail the Conquering Hero” in your post.
6. The maximum amount of troops for a single nation allowed is 15,000, but try to have a lower number, as this is a low-intensity conflict.
7. There is no limit for medical personnel, vehicles, or ships.
8. To piggyback off the last rule, Blue Water units, especially carriers, will be heavily limited. You can also station your aircraft on a Hathenian Carrier, just state so in your application(available is is in Hathian App form).
9. If supporting the Cult, your troops will be on the island pre-invasion. Please telegram me so we can discuss it further.
