	The Tidal Surge formation is a hybrid style that makes use of athleticism in key “flex” positions that allow the formation to ebb and flow between styles to take advantage of personnel match-ups and break opportunities. At any point in the match the Tidal Surge can more remind viewers and opponents of a 5-3-3 (most often) or a 3 4-3 (least often) but can usually be found flexing in between those extremes.
	Three key positions make this formation work. The offensive midfielder with which everyone is familiar and the two hybrid position “UP” backs. These two positions are a direct cross between center midfielders and outside backs. These two positions use athletic ability to move up and down the pitch changing the formation to fit the needs of current needs

After taking the reigns for what was another lackadaisical qualification performance as the squad missed World Cup 52 proper play, the squad finally gelled in the Cup of Harmony as they defied all the odds and became Champions of that tournament. Nothing less than a successful qualification campaign will do for the fiery manager at this point.

			The man that made the system work on the pitch, Calif now switches gears to help the next generation make the leap from would be contenders to legitimate threats. A master of crosses and set pieces, Calif has a ton to teach if the newer players will listen.

			A consistent midfielder with a monster leg, Lorea now turns her focus to directing a new crop of players that will hopefully take the Sea Dragons to new levels of success.

			A defensive nightmare for opposing forwards, Mace was feared and respected on the pitch. His kamikaze personality mirrors the one of his manager and the two should work well together. Mace preaches a hit first, apologize never style that will keep opposing offenses wondering how much punishment they can handle.

			Called up during the WC 50 qualifiers, Jubaxilo was a solid keeper who played well without taking chances but rarely got to see the pitch behind Emyle. However. Jubaxilo has been invaluable with his knowledge of opposing attackers and has passed that on to Emyle and younger keepers on other squads. Now he will be recognized for the duties he performs.

			Now returned from her maternity leave, Rainu will look to finally live up to the potential she showed when joining the Sea Dragons at a very young sixteen years of age. Always controversial, Rainu must find a way to keep her emotions under control.

			Blinding Speed and excellent set up on crosses has forced the staff to promote Kielquew over more experienced players. Hope is that he can pick up where Calif left off and help turn the Sea Dragon attack into a more consistent weapon.

			The best midfielder the Sea Dragons have to offer but Itrekril has struggled with injuries over the course of her career. When healthy, she can dominate matches, but it reamins to be seen if she can hold up over an extended campaign.

			Both sides of the midfield have their injury issues. Aityrano has combated a bad back for years and hopes to make this a successful campaign. Perhaps if the two midfielders can remain healthy the Sea Dragons can make some real noise this time out.

RUB 	10	Kymykera Wu’eres	f	27	5’6	145					Once the top collegiate midfielder in the nation, Kymykera has made the transition to “Up back” in the Tidal Surge and now controls the transition area from midfield to defense with wonderful range and technique. Comfortable any place on the pitch, Kymy has the makings of a true superstar.

			A defensive midfielder in the Errion Vega FK developmental system, Jarika’u looks to fill the hole that has been gaping at the left up back position for years. Inexperience may come into play but the kid’s upside make that worth the risk.

			Finally ready to rejoin the starting eleven after being relegated to a reserve position the past six years. Kimo has slimmed down to a wispy 275 pounds and the added quickness has helped him transition from the center to a more exposed area.

			“The Widowmaker”, Ionei likes to make nasty hits when the attackers aren’t looking. Her quickness allowed her to replace an slower Kimo in the middle and she has made a name for herself as even the world’s elite look to give her space. Unfortunately for them, that means they have to deal with the twins.

			Now rejoined by his brother on the other side, and with the bitch in the middle, Timo finally has a surrounding cast that can be lethal as they snuff out the opposition’s attack. Graceful for a man of his stature, Timo has the ability to turn things in a hurry.

			Cat-Quick. Lightening-fast. Ox-Strong. All of these describe the  Sea Dragon keeper. Her only let down is the fact that at times she becomes too aggressive which allows more patient attackers to come clean for really nice shots on goal.

The Cafundelense World Cup Hall of Fame manager enters his third World Cup as Stars manager. Despite critics projections that he'd be one and done as manager, he has taken the Stars to three consecutive World Cup finals appearances and a shock fourth place finish.
Associate Manager/Manager-In-Waiting: James Potherington (53)
The Isselmerian-Nielander former manager of the Ernes now takes over as the associate manager and manager-in-waiting for the Stars. He guided Isselmere-Nieland to a World Cup finals appearance in the team's second World Cup qualifying campaign, but fell short in the team's third. His team also played to a 1-1-1 record against the Stars in the three editions of The Friendly War.
Assistant Manager: Diogo Avarel (43)
[i]Braddock's youthful apprentice joined the Cafundelense legend as one of two assistant managers, much to the chagrin of the Cafundelense football organisation. He remained after the other assistant, Ganz Ijak, left to become manager at The Babbage Islands.
Goalkeeping Coach: Horace Sandt (54)
Sandt, the lone holdover from the previous Stars managerial staff, has a storied history for the Sarzonian national team. He was the starting goalkeeper who led the Stars to the World Cup XXII title. During his tenure with the Stars, the team advanced to four consecutive semifinals, becoming just the third team to do so behind Rejistania and Eauz.

Rugged, but clean, the 28-year-old Cundiff often serves in a defensive midfield role but can also play the offensive midfielder role if called upon. His versatility with the Woodstock Wild earned him the call up to the big club.

4 George Maxwell D 6'5 225 pounds
Dubbed "the brick wall," Maxwell uses size to be a disruptive element as a defensive player. He's also used in an effort to score off headers and the 30-year-old picked up eight goals in 27 matches that way.

5 Tim Rodney M 5'9 150 pounds
Rodney, 33, plays bigger than his height. On the New Jerusalem Nobles, he plays a rugged fullback when the team plays a 3-5-2, but played as a defensive midfielder in a 4-4-2 alignment when the team suffered several injuries among its defensive players. With Sarzonia adopting a more attack-oriented team, he shifts up to play midfield.

6 George Morrison M 6'2 185 pounds
Drafted out of Joe Gibbs University, Morrison, 27, played for the Nicksia Knights in the SFC until he signed with KT Hotspur in Candelaria and Marquez. Following the withdrawal of a majority of contracts with foreign players, Morrison signed with the Portland Timbers. With the team's status uncertain, he signed a contract with the Woodstock Wild after an impressive tenure there. He is not a particularly pacey player, but has a cannon of a left leg. He will likely be substituted for a player with more flair if the Stars are trailing a match.

7 Tyler McIntosh D 5'11 165 pounds
The young McIntosh (26 years old) signed a contract with the Nicksia Knights and helped the team advance to the Sarzonian Football Confederation playoffs for the first time since 2005. He has improved by leaps and bounds under former Stars striker Anton Gregor, who manages in Nicksia.

8 Laura Grover M 5'6 125 pounds
Grover, 28, dispelled any questions about whether a woman should start for the Stars by drawing comparisons to Jenna Raven, a star player for both Sarzonia's men's and women's World Cup sides. She has strong scoring touch, notching 11 goals in 27 matches for the Woodstock Justice in Sarzonia's women's league. Her coach? You guessed it, Jenna Raven.

9 Ettore Salivani, Jr. M 5'10 155 pounds
The son of former Sarzonia national team standout and Pacitalian emigre Ettore Salivani, the younger Salivani, 29, retains his father's flair, but also picked up on his mother's preternatural calm. He also has outstanding ball skill and is surprisingly adept as a defensive player. Plays for América in Cafundéu's national league.

11 Ted Philyaw D 5'11 145 pounds
Philyaw, 33, serves as the captain of the Saugerties Snakes, owing to his leadership qualities. He's not the fleetest of foot, relying on positioning and anticipating opposing defenders' moves.

12 Colleen Barnaby D 5'8", 135 pounds
Barnaby is the second female representing the Sarzonian Football League, Sarzonia's women's professional league. She plays for the Portland Pride, which developed an intense rivalry with the Woodstock Justice. She has some trouble with more physical midfielders and forwards, but usually has the savvy to avoid problems. She's 31 years old.

13 Clayton Bocanegro M 6'1", 180 pounds
Bocanegro, 32, is the ace playmaking midfielder for the Portland Timbers and the Stars. He's also the designated corner and free kick taker with an educated right boot.

14 Carletta Ryan D 5'7 135 pounds
By far the most physical player in Sarzonian women's football and among the most physical players in Sarzonia regardless of gender, the 29-year-old has no problems mixing it up with women or men. Set a women's league record for most yellow cards and red cards in one season. Earned a red card during the AOCAF semifinals against Cafundéu. Even former senior national team goon Spencer Hicks wouldn't mess with her.

15 Brad Tremblay M 5'9 162 pounds
Tremblay, 26, had trouble sticking with a team in the SFC before finally finding a home with the Portland Timbers. He is arguably the fastest player on the Stars and fires the hardest shot on the team, but his shot is not all that accurate.

16 Ben Crosley D 5'11" 170 pounds
The 33-year-old has become a consistent starter here. He has had seven seasons of experience with the Tacoma Tigers and is a strong man-marker on the right side. His best asset is speed, though he's also learning the savvy that will help once his speed begins to go.

17 Matt Lynch F 6'3", 205 pounds
The 31-year-old was the top scorer for the Sarzonian national team during its AOCAF XIX appearance. His tall, lithe frame makes him an inviting target for more aggressive players who invariably find out he can take and dish out punishment. Recently signed a contract with A.F.F. in Cafundéu. Becomes team captain with the abdication of Davis.

18 Pete Weston M 5'10", 165 pounds
Weston, 25 brings a lot of energy and a great work rate to the table for the Saugerties Snakes. He is easily the hardest working player on the team. Weston often provides a spark off the players' bench in the event the team plays lethargically.

Big and brawny, Spencer, 24 also plays a rather physical style that can knock midfielders and forwards off their game. Added to the squad in an effort to address The Holy Empire's physical style of play from the previous World Cup.

A blend of physicality and skill gave Rudolph, 26 a tryout with the team. He earned it through his chemistry with other players on the squad. Was added to the squad in an effort to provide it with more depth players after an exhausting run through to the World Cup semifinals.

22 Kelvin Russell GK 5'11", 170 pounds
Yet another player from the AOCAF XIX squad, Russell is the number two goalkeeper for this squad. The 33-year-old has settled in well as a backup to Cody Taylor after watching the latter lead the team to back-to-back World Cup semifinals. He is known more for reading shots and positioning than his athleticism.

23 Dennis Crandall F 6'2", 200 pounds
The 24-year-old's sheer speed and elusiveness can surprise many defenders, and often does when he plays with the Nicksia Knights. With Zack Wilson suffering an international career-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament, Crandall becomes a starter up top.

24 Johan Lester F 6'5", 230 pounds
A target player, plain and simple, the 30-year-old does well with scoring on rebounds and crosses, but would not do well as a withdrawn forward. Usually brought in as a bench player. Would hamper Sarzonia's offensive system in the event he has to play a full 90 minutes.

27 Joel A'Hearn GK 6'2" 215 pounds
At 24 years old, A'Hearn is projected as a future starting goalkeeper for Sarzonia. He's being brought in to provide insurance if either Taylor or Russell go down, and to experience international play first hand.

Football is a sport that evokes passionate reactions throughout Qlumez. It's more than a sport - it's a national religion. The colorful crowd of fans is sure to follow the national team, the pride of Qlumez, wherever it goes. The team, nicknamed simply "I Amkouslúi" (The Squad), are looking to keep improving from their performance at the latest Baptism of Fire.
They rely more on player quality than tactical acumen, which critics say hurts their actual chances of winning. They don't care much, though. The general opinion is, "we win py blaying our way, or we don't win at all".

A very proactive goalkeeper with superb reaction time, he leaves the posts a lot to smother scoring attempts. Likes to punch the ball.
• 2 Bueric - Right-back
The wing-back position is by far the most demanding in Qlumezian football. As a result, the position always has star performers, which is the case of Bueric. He is fast, dribbles like a winger and has a mean, precise kick.
• 3 Zòrei - Centre-back/Libero
Classy defender that can also attack. Excellent in the air, surprisingly speedy and with excellent positioning.
• 4 Supes - Centre-back
Uniting speed and technical ability, he was originally a left-back but migrated to defender position. He's adept with his head, scoring the odd goal for his club here and there.
• 5 Tazeda - Defensive Midfielder
He's a fierce defender, fighting for the ball like an angry bear. He has a reputation for being violent and unpredictable, though.
• 6 Berwaz - Left-back
This boy has a cannon for a left leg and never seems to tire out. Terrific on long-range set pieces.
• 7 Vucmi - Offensive Midfielder
A young, extremely classy player, with the confident passing of a seasoned veteran and a cold-blooded demeanor that belies his age.
• 8 Lubelam - Central midfielder
Seemingly frail for such an important position, he is a classy defender with a tremendous speed, that he uses to start counterattacks.
• 9 Cahbul - Centre-Forward
Having proved himself at the Baptism of Fire, the youngster has earned his place at the main team. He's an impetuous striker, fast, agile and with good positioning, a star of the new era of Qlumezian football. He has a few issues with authority, that the coach is willing to overlook as long as he keeps scoring.
• 10 Yuyù - Offensive Midfielder
Gifted with lightning-fast speed and the ability to glide past opponents with ease, capable of pinpoint passes and thunderous strikes from outside the box, Yuyù is the main playmaker of the team.
• 11 Liqecwi - Winger
A dazzling dribbler with good scoring abilities, Liqecwi rounds out the Qlumezian offence with flair.

CCFM RELEASES THE SQUAD LIST FOR THE 53rd WORLD CUP

No one can say that the campaign of the Monopolists in the previous World Cup, played at home, was a bad one. After all, the team reached the famous Wall Stage, the quarterfinals, after several failures in previous editions of the event. The curse that appeared when the country failed to get past the group stage at home years ago seems to have ended, and now the team shows promise.

But once again there will be changes in the Monopolists. The coach Edgar Gastão leaves, and there was a lot of speculations about whom would be the next coach of Cafundéu. Some names appeared: Andreas Gilsoweller Veiga, Renário, Diogo Avarel, Waldenyr Caldas, Alfonso Di Angelo... but, in the end, the President of the CCFM decided to take all the responsibility to himself, so The Scout will lead the team during this World Cup.

(IMPORTANT: use the names in BOLD of my players when writing your RPs [if they are involved], please, as these are the names that they use when playing [the names in their shirts], don’t use their full name [unless it is the bolded one], as most have big full names and the Cafundelenses use nicknames exactly due to this situation. The truly crazy Cafundelense goalkeeper receives his chance in the National Team. With a nice career so far, earning a contract to Ranca Toco, Melkezedeck is a person who loves to appear in front of the cameras, on and outside the pitch. When playing, he jumps even in the balls he won’t be able to reach, makes impressive moves that have little practical value… but at least he knows when to do these moves, he’ll never do one of them in a bad timing. Outside the field, Melkezedeck loves to get involved in controversies, especially related to the football rules.

Height: 181cm - Weight: 93kg – Age: 28 years old
Not exactly a tall goalkeeper by Cafundelense standards, and a bit fat by the usual standards involving footballers, Cleston surely is a curious player. No one may imagine that this man is such a great goalkeeper, until they see him playing. His jumps are tremendously high and precise, and he has very good reflexes. His only flaw is on leaving the goal to intercept crossings, something he is still training in order to improve. But, in general, an excellent goalkeeper who is certainly one of Clube Comercial’s leaders. And it is always impressive to see a somewhat fat man making great jumps!

22- Mário Coragem "MARINHO" (Team: SC Lasft)
Height: 187cm - Weight: 82kg – Age: 26 years old
A goalkeeper who was always highly rated by the Cafundelenses, but found difficulties to enter in the National League. Marinho is extremely loyal to his club, rejecting many transfer offers from other clubs, and this transformed him in a very popular player. His performances are solid, and he is known as someone who never makes mistakes. Marinho is also a popular player with the media, as he is always nice to the reporters and gives interviews without demands. But nothing is perfect: several critics point out that Marinho isn't very good at positioning himself on set pieces, so the defenders always try to protect him during these moves.

2- Edney Fonsecchi "PARAÍBA" (Team: Eldorado)
Height: 168cm – Weight: 62kg – Age: 25 years old
The genius in mixing offence and defence in a full-back, Paraíba can defend the team well when needed, and start counterattacks with speed, also offering valuable help when the team goes forward with his crossings and good passes. But he isn’t a perfect player: he isn’t a good marker and also doesn’t finish well, but his abilities are already good enough to make him one of the best defenders that Cafundéu can offer. Coming from a poor family, Paraíba is still a very humble person, avoiding luxuries and doing the best he can in order to help his relatives and other people in need, being the creator of several organizations that provide assistance. Most people really like his personality, always calm and honest.

14- MATHEUS Gonzaga Funes (Team: El Nacional [SRG])
Height: 171cm – Weight: 64kg – Age: 26 years old
An interesting talent who first appeared in a really weak club of the Cafundelense Primeirona, Santa Cruz do Norte. When his team got relegated, he saw the opportunity to get success abroad, and he really got that. Playing for a great club, he became one of the top players of the league, calling the attention of the CCFM. His talent keeps being the same, as his style of playing: very quick, Matheus is a genius in making and receiving through passes, and can put another player one on one with the goalkeeper. Defensively he is fine, though his talent is more focused on supporting the attack from the wings. Outside the field, is extremely shy and prefers privacy. But we know that he is the best videogame player of the squad.

6- NELSINHO Perroza Dias (Team: Ranca Toco)
Height: 172cm – Weight: 70kg – Age: 29 years old
An enigmatic player this one, inside and outside the field. As a player, Nelsinho is extremely versatile, and can surprise opponents by appearing from places not predicted by them, and for executing moves few believed he could do or that would be appropriate for certain moments of the match. He does his basic functions on the pitch in a fine way, and is a very reliable player, so no doubt he deserved a place in the National Team. Outside the football world, Nelsinho hardly appears for the media, having a house in a very isolate place in Cafundéu where he stays during the whole period of vacations. Also, he claims to have some business abroad, though no one has ever discovered what they are.

16- Fabiano Farath "ESQUERDINHA" (Team: América)
Height: 177cm - Weight: 75kg – Age: 23 years old
Extremely fast, Esquerdinha is a full-back more focused on the offence, and can have some difficulties in defending. He is the one to send the ball to when you want to make a turbo counterattack, easily linking the defensive area to the offensive one. Esquerdinha is also very famous for being a good free-kick taker, being able to take set pieces with technique or strength, depending on the situation, and he does well both styles. His only problem is that he is not a very disciplined player, and this also happens outside the pitch: spends fortunes in huge parties even when he isn’t allowed to by his coach.

3- Armando RODRÍGUEZ (Team: América)
Height: 185cm - Weight: 81kg – Age: 32 years old
Surely one of the most devoted players of Cafundéu, one that plays without any other worries during the ninety minutes. Rodríguez seems to be obsessed for the ball, never giving up even after he is dribbled. Sometimes he gets angry with the opponent attackers, and usually he finds a way to send the opponent on the ground when this happens. Rodríguez is a true defender, who rarely goes to the attack, and tireless when marking, following the opponent even after the game to the dressing room or the team party, or even to the attacker’s bed with the wife or husband. Is known for investing in cultural projects.

4- MAURÍCIO Jamelão Docas (Team: Cafundó do Juta)
Height: 168cm - Weight: 61kg – Age: 28 years old
A big transfer was all that Maurício needed to be noted. He wasn't in a bad club, but A.F.F.'s moment was so bad that the club got relegated, sending him to Cafundó do Juta. There, he helped the team to reinvent itself. Maurício is a balanced player between offence and defence, as he is originally a full-back, and is really got at sliding tackles, hardly hitting the opponent player instead of the ball. Also, he is very intelligent when setting up counterattacks, and can easily spot an opportunity like that one.

13- BRUNO Carvalho PINTO (Team: Petardos S/A)
Height: 170cm – Weight: 72kg – Age: 30 years old
Bruno Pinto is a solid defender who is an expert at marking, hardly losing his opponent from his area of view. He is a bit clumsy too, and can trip opponents without noticing, sometimes being blamed by the loss of his club due to an unnecessary penalty or foul. But a key quality of Bruno is that he has some good technique, which can help the team to create counterattack moves or hold the ball when wanting to keep a good result. He has some influential relatives, and won many chances thanks to them, but no one can say he doesn’t have the talent to succeed.

Height: 172cm – Weight: 75kg – Age: 26 years old
A player who has been playing for the Cafundelense National Team since young age, participating in all the youth squads the country has to offer. More than this, Teteo is a player with a lot of experience, more than some players older than him. This is because he has played in many places: from the Segundona of Cafundéu to Candelaria And Marquez. Also, his participation in international competitions made him more mature and smart football-wise. He is very good in positioning himself to tackle an opponent exactly at the right time, and is a very secure player. Outside the field, he is known for making some weird confusions during his interviews, getting involved in some embarassing situations.

5- Nico LEWTON (Team: América)
Height: 178cm - Weight: 78kg – Age: 29 years old
A player who was considered the real wonderkid of the country, as he was called to the U-21 National Team when he had only 15 years of age, a record in the Monopolists. Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t playing in top clubs, failing to get the same football quality from his team mates. Some transfers helped him to improve, and now he finally got his chance of going to the National Team, although he has serious concurrence for the spot. Newton is very perfectionist, wants his moves to be done exactly the way he predicted, and he usually manages this using his excellent vision of game and positioning. He also puts a huge pressure on himself, wanting to always have good performances, and publicly criticizing himself when this doesn't happen.

8- BINO Cabras Passadas (Team: Clube Comercial)
Height: 165cm – Weight: 62kg – Age: 24 years old
This is the generation of world class defensive midfielders for Cafundéu, and the existence of Bino only proves this fact. He is someone who can be considered a genius kid, who since youth was able to command a squad and play like an experienced professional. This is his best quality: maturity and ability to resist the pressure at the same time that he plays some quality football. Captain of his club since eighteen years of age, Bino is a very serious player who doesn't react well to jokes, and got involved in fights because of that. He also is very suspicious of other people, even his friends. Returning to the playing pitch, Bino is an excellent marker, and will be the one to mark the playmaker of the opponent squad.

15- Eduardo "EDU" MIRANDA Peixoto (Team: Bandeirantes)
Height: 180cm – Weight: 80kg – Age: 24 years old
Usually the talented Cafundelense players receive a chance in some of the youth NT’s of the country, but this wasn’t the case of Edu Miranda. When his talent was discovered, it was during the middle of the season, and he was already too old to play for the U-21 team. He impressed the whole country with his calmness in controlling the ball and the accuracy of his passes, and also the way that he could go to the attack, playing with a technique that few defensive midfielders have. So, after a few years, Edu Miranda reaches the main squad of the Monopolists, and already with the status of being one of the most promising players. When he is not playing, he keeps his calm style, and shows a lot of knowledge about movies and music.

10- MARCO AURÉLIO Braga Santimônia (Team: Atlético Jutense)
Height: 164cm – Weight: 61kg – Age: 28 years old
Marco Aurélio is a versatile midfielder, but he fits well in a defensive position. Already known and praised for his excellent ball control and ability to make accurate through passes, Marco Aurélio is a lethal weapon in the attack too. In the defence, uses his talents to intercept balls and predict the moves of his opponents. Marco Aurélio is also famous for his great respect for opponents, and will never get involved in a fight or battle of words. Due to his excellent performances for Atlético Jutense in the Cafundelense League, Marco Aurélio’s reputation got so high that he was awarded the #10 shirt, usually given to a valuable member of the squad. This can be seen as the proof that he is going to be the leader of Cafundéu’s midfield.

20- WENDEL Valdano Souza (Team: Petardos S/A)
Height: 183cm – Weight: 78kg – Age: 24 years old
Even having difficulties in playing as a starter in his domestic club due to the huge dispute for his position, Wendel is widely recognized as one of the best talents around for Cafundéu, earning the position on the National Team. Wendel’s most praised abilities are related to ball control and passing: he can hold the ball well and control it even when the pass to him is horrible. Wendel isn’t a player to get too deep into the attack or to score goals, or even to help the defence. He usually only organizes the midfield. In his personal life, Wendel is known for giving funny nicknames to his team mates.

7- Roberto Soares Chryz "BETINHO" (Team: Eldorado)
Height: 172cm – Weight: 70kg – Age: 27 years old
Everyone always noticed that Betinho was, and is, a very talented football player, but his fate seemed to be to never receive a chance, because other players ended being rated higher. He started his career in the youth team of Cafundó do Juta, went to Clube Comercial looking for chances but ended on the bench of Da Costa. Never went to the U-21 NT due to the concorrence. Only at Eldorado, a less prestigious club, he could show his potential... and surprised everyone with his ball skills, especially ball control. It seems like the ball gets glued to his feet, thanks to his immense technique. Also, is very good at long ranged shots. Outside the pitch, is known for enjoying long arguments and provocations on the media.

17- Godofredo Barbosa Serafim "GODÔ" (Team: Atlético Jutense)
Height: 173cm - Weight: 67kg – Age: 21 years old
A starter for his club in the Primeirona since he was eighteen years old, Godô’s presence in the National Team was already predicted, and some fans even say that he should have been called earlier, even if he was less than twenty years old at that time. Godô’s footballing style is very offensive, working as the last link between the midfield and the attack, and also trying to score some goals. He has a powerful long shot, and also is very good at heading. But, even attempting finishes, he prefers to make assists to the attackers, and his team spirit earns him the respect of his team mates and other professionals.

Height: 183cm – Weight: 81kg – Age: 25 years old
Unknown before last season, Robson showed enormous talent while playing for a semi-amateur club that was able to reach the Primeirona, Varzeano. In the team, he played as the brain of the team, being the responsible for organizing the offensive moves and creating the goalscoring chances. He is a true playmaker, and a good one. After impressing everyone, he finally could sign a professional contract, but is still having difficulties to adapt himself with the training routine, so his morale isn’t very good.

9- César Valtan GUTIÉRREZ (Team: Ranca Toco)
Height: 177cm – Weight: 75kg – Age: 31 years old
A talented attacker who relies on speed to reach the goal. Gutiérrez isn’t a player who shoots with strength or manages to make impressively technical moves, but he can dribble well and run much better. When it comes for a playmaker to pass into space to him, nearly no defender can outpace him in the dispute for the ball. This is what makes Gutiérrez so praised, and he is expected to play a lot for the National Team. Even in young age, he is a very experienced player, having played even in Daehanjeiguk before the collapse of their previous league system. Due to this Gutiérrez still has problems in correctly speaking Portuguese, mixing it sometimes with the Han language.

Height: 175cm – Weight: 66kg – Age: 27 years old
Rosário is a player who passed through several different experiences in football. First appeared as a talented striker for São Jorge, but not one worthy to be sent to the U-21 team, especially after a serious injury which kept him out of the team for an entire season. When he got a transfer to Daehanjeiguk, many thought that this would kill his chances in the National Team. But there he played top football, scoring goals in an incredible rate. Returning to Cafundéu thanks to Samseong, helped Rio Bonito to make the team's best campaign of the history, once again scoring many goals. So, if he can score goals, why he can't be a member of the Cafundelense NT? And this is the mission of Rosário: use his speed and cool moves to score goals.

18- ROMERGLEYDSON Silvano Assírio (Team: Central United)
Height: 190cm – Weight: 86kg – Age: 23 years old
Participating in the U-21 squad of the Monopolists, Romergleydson proved his talent by being the lead attacker, the one naturally seen as the target man by his team mates, something that got repeated in his club. His size helps this fact, since a big player like him usually becomes the target for crossings at the area. And he knows well how to use his physical strength: uses it to stop the defenders from tackling him and also heads the ball very well, with most of his goals being scored through aerial moves. Romergleydson also got famous on television after his story was shown in a famous program: he doesn’t know his parents and was raised by a madman, who thought he was a dog.

Height: 168cm – Weight: 60kg – Age: 26 years old
Seen as just an average talent in his former club, América, Bira was negotiated without discussions, and found a way to be a star in Sargossa, even not playing for a squad in the main league. Now, with his presence in the National Team, his agent will surely be looking to make such a move, although Bira will have problems in making the starting eleven of the Monopolists.

More than this, for seasons he was the contact between the CCFM and many others sports organizations. So, he has a huge experience in handling different situations, and has good relations with many other leaders. After several bad experiences in hiring other coaches to lead the Monopolists, The Scout has decided to follow a “do it yourself” approach and he is going to be the coach of the team for this World Cup. He has experience in this, leading Nethertopia before. As a coach, he values more technique, and his trainings aren’t really intense: his true talent is to spot the true abilities of the players, so the team will be well-set tactically.

For this cup, as it happened in the previous one, the former captain of the NT Carlos Marossi was called, with him now being more experienced after his experience in helping the coaching triad last time. He is intended to learn more to be a home-grown coach of the NT in the future. The CCFM has no big expectations around him, wanting him to learn from the other coaches and help them whenever needed... also, they are somewhat worried that he may organize parties for the players, as this was something that he did often while he was a player.

Height: 180cm – Weight: 89kg – Age: 66 years old
One of the directors of Banco Econômico, and the one who wasn’t involved with anything sports-related until getting this position. C.Pinguço is in the Han Empire, Santa is handling finances all around the world, I.Newton checking negotiations in Candelaria And Marquez, D.Lama in other leagues, J.Lennon checking for investment opportunities… Banco Econômico, member of the AUGECC, had to participate in the CCFM somewhere. And they managed to include one of their directors as the NT’s administrative manager, handling the non-football aspects of the team. Santos is friendly and loves to make jokes, and loves to spend money too! Sometimes he’ll throw away money, in the form of small airplanes made of a vintém note.

Spy/Scout: Mikklos IRVINZ
Height: 190cm - Weight: 88kg – Age: 46 years old
Don’t tell me that Irvinz has reached the National Team. He did. Mikklos Irvinz became famous for his appearances in the media during the time which he was supposed to be a secret spy for Petardos S/A. He got involved with bribing people, trying sabotage attempts against opponents, getting drunk and travelling 100km by feet looking to get to Wonderland… nothing serious. He also was a producer of porn videos and private detective before getting involved with football. He just wasn’t fired from Petardos S/A because he is immensely competent, hardly failing in a job and very good for spotting talents. And this ability sent him to the National Team, but he must be cautious.

Physical Trainer: Renan AYALA
Height: 166cm - Weight: 63kg – Age: 49 years old
A genius in the physical training area, Ayala isn’t one who really stays close with the players when they are in the academy. Renan is more a consultant, someone who can easily spot the necessities of each player and what they need to do to improve they physical conditions. The training schedules made by Ayala can be completely trusted, and with his help the Monopolists will probably be in top conditions for the matches.

Height: 171cm - Weight: 78kg – Age: 53 years old
When the CCFM replaced the whole staff of the Cafundelense NT, people believed that finally they would get rid of Serginho Mallandro. Big mistake. Serginho left, but in his place his son, Mallandro Filho, was called. He tells the same jokes his father did, and the same phrases and funny (or at least intended to be funny) comments, as the “Glu-glu” and “Bilu-bilu tetéia” ones. The majority of the population used to love him (before his jokes became repetitive), but the players of the National Team are likely to try to assault him after each of his jokes.

Honestly, no one really cares about the doctor of the National Team. The last one was easily replaced and few people noted his absence. Now, the doctor is Bárbara Likhalin, with experience in treating football players. She also has a good knowledge as a nutritionist, though this won’t be her main activity in the team. With Ayala as physical trainer, it is believe she won’t have much work to do.

He loves football, and got this position after begging for a whole week... now the others will have to beg for his mercy.

Former administrative manager of the National Team, Reinaldo Franco was chosen to the position of Vice-President of the CCFM by The Scout, in a much contested decision, as the former Vice-President Baron Ainer wanted to keep his position. For a long time, Franco didn’t do anything important inside the CCFM, leaving these stuff for The Scout. But his influence and experience grew, and he will now act as President while The Scout travels with the Monopolists during this World Cup campaign. Even though most people have confidence on him, he may still do some mistakes.

A good name that doesn’t raise controversies, many people even say that Funez would do a better job than Franco leading the CCFM.

Some information about Rejistania: While the country is not new to the world cup, the nation disappeared from the political and sports-related landscape [and appeared on the advertisements of humanitarian aid companies] for a while. Rejistanis still do not like to talk about the first and the second Grand Blamage, but the names already told you how these wars ended for the country. Now, that the country is in a state again which does not make people think of 'third world' immediately, the Asene'het Sekhika Rejistaniha (the rejistanian soccer association) was re-founded and now a new national team competes again.

In the country, the language Rejistanian is national language. OOCly, it is a constructed language. My signature has more information about it in case anyone is interested. If you need a translation for your RP, feel free to TG me.

THE ARCHREGIMANCY BRINGS YOU

THE MONASTIC WORLD CUP 53 SQUAD

First of all, everyone except newbies knows that the Archregimancy is a nation of Eastern Orthodox Christian monks from an alternate reality, right?

The World Cup 53 squad is designed to blend the best elements of the surprisingly successful post-WC 52 team, and the tough as old unleavened bread WC 48 squad - with two new players in defence, and one old favourite coming out of retirement.


COACH -
Fr. Sozon the Simple: A popular holy man and hermit, but not one renowned for his intellect. Probably thinks 4-4-2 is something to do with an abacus. However, his spell in charge has seen rare success for the squad, suggesting that footballing awareness might be overrated in an international team.

GOAL
Fr. Eudoxius the One-Eyed This former international last played in goal at the World Cup level for the Archregimancy's post-Event World Cup 48 team. Depth perception may be a problem, but that didn't stop him last time - and the team have been undefeated in the Cup of Harmony (penalties don't count) and Dragonnii thingywhatsit since he rejoined the team..

DEFENCE
Fr. Simeon the New Theologian A subtle mind considered an expert on the heresies of Valentinian gnosticism and docetism. Often attempts to distract the opposition with an academic discourse on these topics.

Fr. Serapion the Immobile Had spent the last 30 years standing immobile in one place until the Cup of Harmony. Consented to join the team on the condition he doesn't have to stray from his own half. Like the squad's goalkeeper, initial scepticism on his ability to play was set aside in light of the team's recent success.

Fr. Macarius the Stylite The Archregimancy's other central defender has spent the last 50 years sitting on top of a column, which he has consented to descend from specifically for the tournament. Like Fr. Serapion, his holiness is unquestioned, but his mobility was considered a potential issue until the defence proved rock-solid in recent tournaments.

Fr. Simeon the Old Theologian A subtle mind considered an expert on the heresies of Nestorianism and Sabellianism. Often attempts to distract the opposition with an academic discourse on these topics. Denies being a twin or clone of the team's left-back.

MIDFIELD
Fr. Cyril the Grim Last seen on the WC 48 squad; tough as a bunch of old nails hidden in the mattress of a particularly ascetic monk - like Fr. Cyril.

Fr. Cyriacus the Stern Another former member of the World Cup 48 squad. Few misbehaving novices escape the judgement of Fr. Cyriacus, widely known as the one of the most intimidating monks in the entire Archregimancy. However, his new habit of insisting on scourging sinners from either team - immediately, on the spot - may regrettably prove controversial.

Fr. Onesiphorus the Lame His left leg is shorter than his right leg. Well, it worked for Garrincha - and on recent international tournament form, it works for Fr. Onesiphorus as well.

Fr. Luke the Third Holy Igumen One of the most respected monks in the entire Archregimancy, Fr. Luke would almost certainly have been made Metropolitan of the Greatest Lavra decades ago if he'd shown any interest in being a bishop. Has insisted that he be included in the squad despite his frailty: he physically appears to be about 95 years old, and walks with a cane. Has recently been playing as a centre forward, but for unknown reasons has dropped to the right wing for this squad.

FORWARDS
Fr. Innocent of Ariddia The most successful international convert ever to play for the team, and coaxed out of retirement from his isolated hermitage for WC53, where he hopes to help the Archregimancy to qualify for the main stage again.

Fr. Eudoxius the Fit Leading scorer for Monastic League team The Painted Monastery of Voronets for the last six seasons, and one of the most admired footballing monks in the entire Archregimancy. Had never been picked for the national team until the Cup of Harmony (perhaps because he plays for a small and unfashionable monastery) and has recently been the squad's Alan Belmore. Hopes to flourish even further in a more competitive setting - even if it means scoring fewer goals.

Tips for footballing visitors to the Archregimancy:

1) Each home match is preceded by the complete Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. Rest assured that this should only require visiting teams, fans, and officials to stand for a mere 2 hours before kickoff. Consider yourselves lucky we don't use the Liturgy of St. Basil.

2) We control the nature of reality in the Dreamed Realm. This isn't used to cheat - all normal rules of football are strenuously followed - but it does have two major side effects:
A) Any injuries to either team in Archregimancy home matches are immediately healed.
B) No violent or riotous behaviour by visiting fans will be tolerated. Any such behaviour will find those responsible immediately transported back to ordinary physical reality.

3) Direct travel from ordinary physical reality to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. Some 72 hours before your away qualifier in the Archregimancy, a team of monks shall arrive in your home stadium and construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. You may then use this to travel to the Archregimancy at your leisure.

4) Visiting support is limited to a maximum of 2,000 fans.

5) Women are not usually permitted into the Archregimancy. Exceptions will be made for visiting players and properly accredited officials - largely because we have to.

6) Formerly, the Archregimancy made a point of being resentful of being forced to permit atheists, communists, freemasons, assorted heretics and foul excelites into the Archregimancy for home qualifiers. These days the Monastic Football Association tries a little harder to welcome all of the above – though largely in the hope that might just possibly be open to conversion through a slightly more conciliatory approach.

Given Fr. Eudoxius' the Fit's recent form, the Monastic Football Association has decided to play all home matches in a field adjacent to the Painted Monastery of Voronets.

[The Archregimancy]

THE HOLY EMPIRE WC 52 SQUAD


The Holy Empire is the last nation from WC1 still active in the Cup (though the nation took a long break between WCs 7 and 25, exclusive)

OOC - For the second cup in a row, the Imperial squad is based closely - in fact, the characters are directly lifted from - Michael Moorcock's Dancers at the End of Time. There were some RP themes left unfinished at the end of WC 52 (when the squad were last seen apparently being eaten by carnivorous blancmanges after losing to the Han Empire - Han's idea, not mine). When working in Venezuela this past summer, I read the book for the first time in about 30 years. And I realised that several of the ideas Moorcock advances about the nature of time could very well be used by a 'mundy' to understand how time operates in the Holy Empire; so I'm appropriating the characters for a couple of cups, while wholly acknowledging the source. For those familiar with Moorcock's work (and if you are, you're probably more familiar with it than I am), I'm not dealing with the concept of the Eternal Champion, merely using the characters from the End of Time to explore some RPs about the nature of time and space in the Realm.

Forwards:
Jherek Carnelian - One of only two humans at the End of Time to have been born and to have grown from being a child. Since the formation of the seven day time loop a century ago, has been living in the Palaeozoic - or one version thereof - with his wife, Amelia Carnelian, with whom he has had several children, and now grandchildren.

Mrs. Amelia Carnelian - Originally Mrs. Amelia Underwood, Mrs. Carnelian was once an unwitting time traveller from late 19th-century Bromley (a suburb of London) who, by a series of adventures too complex to summarise here, eventually found herself married to Jherek and living in the Palaeozoic, where they are founding a new civilisation in an alternate time stream. She is inherently suspicious of her father in law.


Midfielders:
My Lady Charlotina of Below the Lake - A mischievous left winger who's fond of a well-structured practical joke, and for several centuries sponsored Brannart Morphail's experiments on the nature of time. She has been largely forgiven for once separating Jherek and Amelia by sending the latter back to her first husband in 1896.

Brannart Morphail: The End of Time's final scientist. For some millenia, his main field of interest was time, but Lord Jagged's discoveries in that field, not least the formation of the seven day time loop, have made that a worthless field of endeavour. These days, he instead researches the mysterious, ancient, senile sentient cities that provide the End of Time with powers to shape reality not dissimilar to those who live in the Holy Empire.

Lord Jagged of Canaria (cap): A mysterious figure, apparently originally from the 21st or 22nd centuries, who was somehow responsible for sending Amelia and Jherek forward (yes, forward) from the End of Time to the Palaeozoic, trapping the End of Time into a protective seven day time loop that meant the last week of time would last forever - without forcing residents to constantly relive the same seven days - and of convincing the Iron Orchid to conceive Jherek in the first place. Brilliant and manipulative, he's brought the current team together in the Dreamed Realm.

The Iron Orchid - Jherek Carnelian's mother, and occasionally the wife of Lord Jagged, though she's previously been involved with most of the rest of the denizens of the End of Time, including her son. Her skintones will usually not be what mundies would consider 'normal', and she particularly favours blue. If she sometimes seems to be everywhere on the field at once, it may be because she's occasionally prone to construct multiple duplicates of herself; no referee has yet been asked to rule if these are also extra players.

Mistress Christia the Everlasting Concubine - Quite possibly the most attractive woman in all time, and totally omnisexual. She has no conception of morality that mundies would recognise, and may have to be physically restrained from attempting to seduce the entire opposition bench during the match, using her position on the right wing to her advantage here.


Defenders:
The Duke of Queens - A flamboyant aesthete who will almost always attempt to understand the game of football as an artistic performance.

Werther de Goethe - A late 20th or early 21st century human would attempt to understand Werther - like Jherek, an actual born human - as the ultimate Goth. Though Werther's habit of turning his entire self into an obsidian black shade from head to toe, and occasionally stripping the flesh from his head to leave only a black-eyed skull behind might seem a touch too much even for a Goth.

Captain Barstable - A time traveller who originates, like Mrs. Carnelian, from the 19th century. He is now a son-in-law of sorts to the Carnelians, and has been recruited onto the team from the Palaeozoic time-travellers way station because he's actually previously played football - and knows the rules.


Goalkeeper:
Lord Mongrove - A 8 foot tall depressed hulking giant whose constant lament is that others just don't understand the misery of the human condition. His size alone qualifies him to be the squad's goalkeeper. He is married to Werther de Goethe

Forward:
Mrs Una Persson - Another time traveller who occasionally drops by the Palaeozoic, and daughter in law of the Carnelians. She's a great admirer of Lord Jagged's theories of time, but isn't entirely sure about this whole football business.

Midfield:
Argonheart Po - The greatest chef in the history of history. His post-match banquets will no doubt soon become legendary.

Lord Shark the Unknown - Has never been seen by the rest of the team; he tends to sit (they presume he's sitting) in a large metal box next to the bench, and it was thought that he would never take the field - until he came on to score a 90th-minute penalty in WC 52. His role on the squad is still something of a mystery.

Li Pao - Another time traveller, though this time from the People's Republic of the 27th century. He's quite prone to lecturing the rest of the squad on their moral decadence, but actually prefers the End of Time to his home century.

Defence:
Gaf the Horse in Tears - Often prone to combining the human form with animal forms. Has recently been a goat, but currently prefers a human body - except for the slightly elongated giraffe-coloured neck.

Sweet Orb Mace - Is currently male, but this is likely to change from match to match.

Goal:
Bishop Castle - Lord Mongrove may have been given the nod over Bishop Castle due to the Bishop's oversized mitre being something of a problem agility-wise. Bishop is constantly on the verge of falling over, but refuses to get rid of his headgear.


Tactics:

Frosty football is attacking football. The Empire plays a 3-5-2 formation with overlapping wingers that rapidly turns into 3-3-4 on the counterattack.

Considering as the Imperial Squad is going to be fading away, we'll stick in a shameless reprise of the same team that last the last two games of the last World Cup. With any luck, they'll be just as good and lose the last two matches here as well.

The Imperial Han Football Team

A few notes for the passing viewer. The Imperial Squad has a storied although nameless history. The Han won BoF23 (WC36) with perhaps the most prestigious alumni in recent history (Candelaria And Marquez, Vephrall, Ad'ihan, Sorthern Northland, Kura-Pelland, etc.). Since then, they've failed to win anything else (we came close in WC46, which ended up a 9 goal thriller that we lost in the dying seconds, literally dying). But after the events of the Gyeimyo Calamity (which will probably never be explained thoroughly in RP format), the Han are struggling to keep their place internationally. So as an effort to show the same sort of "face" that graced the world, it is to the verdure fields we head to seek eternal fame.

Technical notes - ages are according to years (thank goodness for the Han, who age on the New Year, not on the Birthdate). YOB = year of birth, and ##y is the age in years; the present year as of this posting is 4727. Players are shown according to their preferred starting position and should be RPed as such. Any RPs concerning the Han should be done without regard to anything. Please give out cards sparingly, although be creative in your reasons. In a sum, ask me only if you want to kill someone (although chances are that I'll ask you if I want to kill anyone).


Manager: Lii Chong-Sun 이총순 (erm... how old is he again?) - Starblaydi manager of the Han squad, if you read up on World Cup 49 RPs, you'll recall the sort of chaotic transfer of authority that resulted between the old IFA Chairman and the new/former Manager. Needless to say, Lii Chong-Sun is the NFT manager, and Kim Byeong-Ji is the IFA Chairman, and that both men have a good understanding about one another is a good thing. That Lii Chong-Sun knows a smattering about football is even better. While he never rose to international fame as a Starblaydi player, he has since worked up an appetite for winning stuff, and he'll aim to do one better than the Elves (we always run into the Vanorians at the Quarterfinals) this time. Oh, and yes, his name is a link.

Assistant Manager: Yang Gong-Wan (YOB 4690 - 37y) - Yeah, so if you remember him, he's the armless goalkeeper we had for World Cup 49. And while we're not going down that route anytime soon, he's still a valuable member of the squad, and both Lii and Kim felt it would be a a good thing to keep him around. Most of the squad affectionately appreciate his hard work, and he does say some inspirational things as well (minus those oft-pejorative Han Army quotes).

GK: Yi Mi-Tae 이미태 (YOB 4700 - 27y) [Malla Yeonhap] - It's official. We are not winning the World Cup. Since when do female keepers win anything? (take a look at Cassadaigua, please). Okay, so fine call us male chauvanists. In any case, Yi Mi-Tae really does have a good talent. There were some raised eyebrows from last season when she failed to make the NFT entirely (preferred over two male keepers who didn't perform quite well in the IFL), but now her selection as the top keeper in the Han Empire has raised even more eyebrows than those eyebrows that are currently available for raising. It remains to be seen whether Yi Mi-Tae can live up to the hype over a female keeper. Hmm, btw, that does bring up good memories of Cassie Lee...

DR: Sang Han-Chang 상한창 (YOB 4700 - 27y) [Eldorado, CFD] - One win and few goals off pace, Sang Han-Chang was going to represent the Han on the international stage once more. But it wasn't meant to be. Nonetheless, his continued contributions to the club's defense (and offense, we might add constructively) has earned his spot among the club's favorites (for foreigners, which isn't very much by club standards...) and a top spot in the Imperial Line-up. His pace on the right flank is able to influence the attack and defense options, with Sang and An trading spots every once in a while. Unfortunately, Sang lacks An's tactical finesse on freekicks.

DL: Pak Jin-Jeong 박진정 (YOB 4701 - 25y) [Seoan Cheonma] - Booze boy actually does play footy. And after Cheonma's respectable performance in the league for a second time running, you're left wondering why the team still thinks of him as the booze boy. Perhaps they could think of him as booze boy with silverware?

DC: Kim Seok-Il 김석일 (YOB 4697 - 30y) [Oreum FC] - This position has been a tenuous one. Wang's place was put under serious jeopardy by Yeonseong's poor form, eventually compounded by the fact that Wang is now injured. So now we've got Kim Seok-Il. He also comes from a team that was nearly destroyed in the Calamity, but they've got considerably less silverware compared to Yeonseong. And they've also got a crappy home field, but they're also in the middle of nowhere (seriously, it's a proven fact). Anyway, Kim was one of those players who helped contribute to the League's best defensive record. Only real pity they didn't earn a UICA berth...

DMC: Go Song-Ji 고송지 (YOB 4700 - 27y) [Albrecht FC, CMSC] - Well this is quite embarrassing... Go Song-Ji is probably caught on some sort of limbo right now, what with his parent club since ohgawdnozwen (that would be his transfer to Albrecht FC from CD Sungsan Academy (then more simply known as Sungsan Academy) when he barely a man) deciding to go vacation for a few couple of years. In any case, Go seems likely to transfer out on a long-term loan, thanks to arrangements with the management (hey, we are the management!). In any case, Go will finish up his season with Albrecht, hoping to win a second successive TQCC triumph, before heading out to seek either another worthy club or perhaps to just sit back and relax during an all-expenses-paid vacation for 1093 years. In any case, Go is still one of the top contributors to club and country - so expect him to shine or get a lackluster coat of rust.

MR: To Be Replaced (YOB - ??y) [Club]

ML: Song Ahn-Ji 송안지 (YOB 4698 - 29y) [Ousevale Borough, O-League] - Right... him... still... I'm not sure why we care about Ousevale, but he's here, and he's good enough to take the left flank of the field. He's not one of those "usual suspects", but he's commanding more and more respect from the cronies in Gyeongju. Soon enough, he'll have a cult designed to bring him back home where he has more a chance of being better appreciated. To be honest, I don't think Krytenia does remarkably well in the UICA competitions either, but at least they've got three slots.

MC: Gang Geum-Saek 강금색 (YOB 4700 - 27y) [Ventspils Redwings, Meistrliiga] - With Pak Yong-Ho's somewhat slightly unannounced retirement (after all, no one really expected Arrigo to just pack up and said SLEEP like that...), Gang Geum-Saek finally gets the chance to earn his place on the starting line-up. But it comes amidst a tenuous chase from the bottom up. The recent phenoms at the DBC have suddenly and mysterious appeared on the substitutes roster, which means that Gang had better impress or otherwise concede one of the prized positions to one of the younger wonder kids.

AMC: Kim Ha-Run 김하룬 (YOB 4699 - 28y) [Cafundó do Juta, CFD] -Considerably insane, but he's now a bonafide trophy winner. It's seldom that we can boast TQCC trophy winners in our midst (well, those not from Albrecht, that is), so we're pretty happy that this former product of the Imperial Army is now turning into a world-class player. Just goes to prove that mentally insane people can be successful.

ST: Kim Il-Tae 김일태 (YOB 4700 - 27y) [Joseon Dangun] - He's back, and he's for sale. No surprises as he managed to rack up an amazing 34 goals this season - which would have made him top scorer ever had some Dancougarite wannabe-elf not scored 64 goals in the same season. But he's tired of playing for Joseon, which have a horrible knack of conceding way too many goals and losing many more matches. So he wants to remain a genuine candidate as top Han striker, and the best way to do that is to get away from all of the looneys at Joseon, because Yi Kwan-Wan may be just as impressive (if not younger) at a more successful club now. But he's gotten quite a good scoring repertoire internationally, so we'll see how that all folds out.

FW: Pak Tae-Hwan 박태환 (YOB 4703 - 24y) [Dinamo Karrakiv, Meistrliiga] - They're not so young anymore, and Pak Tae-Hwan hasn't really featured all too much on the scoring charts on the international scene, but Pak's versatility gives him a good deal of power on the field. He's definitely one of those players that opens up space and if given the chance will steal away the wins. He's probably running in the footsteps of the venerable Jeong Ji-Hun.

He finally crafted his place among the legends of the game when he won the World Cup in the last edition.

All in all, he is simply a world class footballer and person, one that children across the world can aspire to emulate.

LANDAU INSTITUTE'S SQUAD FOR WORLD CUP 53
The Creations

After the failure of the Landau Institute last time in the World Cup, even after a great campaign during the qualifiers, the Medical Council of the Institute has decided to not send the same team composed of doctors to the competition. Instead, they asked their scientists to produce special creations, each one representing one of the thirty best teams of the footballing world. These creations are result of DNA injections in patients of the Institute, later submitted to hypnosis sessions and a basic football training. The thirty players are:


Goalkeepers:

8- Eripme Yloheht
The guardian of this Landau Institute's goal, is the oldest and most experienced of the creations, and someone seen as mysterious. Also, has the impressive ability of assuming different identities depending on the situation, as if he could mold reality itself. Another ability of him is to punish other members of the team by himself, acting as a referee in these cases by sending text messages in red.

15- Avalcaled
Thanks to a good appearance in a previous event of the World Cup, Avalcaled has risen up to the position of second goalkeeper, and can even start sometimes due to Eripme Yloheht's old age. He has a good relationship with Ainozras, and enjoys to watch teams composed by many players from the same family.

21- Ainoirtnetpes
Will stay for the entire competition in the bench due to not having registered himself for this competition, but will be an always present member in the discussions during the competition. Rumours say that he was challenged to participate, but surrendered to the dispute.


Defenders:

3- Sdnalsi Egabbabeht
Strong defender, is a creation that has already travelled all around the world, and enjoys to tell those experiences in his personal blog. Follows well the orders of the coach, having great respect for him and with this being able to play tactically really well. His latest performances in the World Cup have transformed him in one of the most valued members of this team, and responsibility will be huge.

9- Cfurej
The most aggressive member of the creations' defence, Cfurej is excellent at tackling his opponents thanks to his military training. He is also extremely addicted to alcohol, and will be always play drunk. If facing female attackers, he will attempt to seduce them, as they are another obsession of his.

10- Ruerroh Edsyap
Ends being a creation which does not appear as the last form of its inspiration, but as the one of last cup. Ruerroh Edsyap was imprisioned for a long time, due to a long story of crimes. His criminal mind is very smart, and he is talented in tons of different nasty plays. And, of course, he will hate all the referees that participates in the Landau Institute matches.

13- Ainovaihcs
Another player who forgot to sign himself up to this competition, and therefore won't be able to play in the World Cup unless something really unreal happens. He is a kid, a teenager who lives only with his close relatives, isolated from the rest of the world on a private island.

18- Nirryt
A talented player, is one of the youngest members of this squad, but one that already has reached a position in this team, open only to the best creations in the world at the moment. Is the second bench option of the defence, right behind fan favourite, due to bias, Etutitsni Uadnal.

19- Ainocriz Tsew
A regular creation who had to endure, for a long time, the fact that he couldn't achieve the same thing that several younger creations had done, which was to play in a World Cup. But now Ainocriz Tsew is improving at each passing cycle, and more impressive than this following the same strategy from the old times.

23- Natsirces
Will only play if the scientists responsible for his development pay him. Natsirces enjoys luxury, and will despise places filled with poverty or socialist ones. Natsirces has the main objective or earning money through this competition, and inside the Institute is seen as a controversial player, due to having views similar than the ones of Uédnufac.

27- Etutitsni Uadnal
A very old player, but without the same experience of the team's goalkeeper. Even being a reserve, Etutitsni Uadnal is a fan favourite and also the favourite of the scientists, as he shares many similarities with them. He has great medical knowledge, being also the doctor and physio of the squad. But he is also very unstable, and seems to get crazy during moments of the match, showing all kinds of symptoms.


Midfielders:

1- Aronalav
Called also the Godmod of the squad, Aronalav is the only elf of the squad, and also the most technical player of this Landau Institute team. His achievements in the sport are only surpassed by the ones of his immediate substitute Aidyalbrats, but he is right now in far better form. Key player of the squad, he will attempt to do everything: cross the ball and then get into the area to head it, pass the ball to himself, dribble himself and then shoot to the goal.

5- Kugiejnahead
The insane defensive midfielder of the creations' team, Kugiejnahead is a very popular player, but is set to retire after this competition to open space for his younger brother. His long speeches are widely known all around the world, mixing comments about football with the most random things that you can imagine. Has had some problems in the past, being threatened by terrorists and forced to pay an enormous amount of money in taxes.

6- Aipotrehten
A player who used to be in a situation similar to Ainocriz Tsew's, but one that in the recent past managed to become one of the leading stars in world football. Curiously, this happened exactly when he was concealing his identity details, something he is still doing. So, you can expect an unpredictable and versatile player in this line-up.

11- Uédnufac
The most hated member of this Landau Institute squad, as he represents the eternal rivals of the country. Uédnufac was created in a place where football is extremely popular and the number one passion of the people there, so he could be raised in perfect conditions to become a good player. He is also very worried with money, and doesn't give help, advice or anything else to his team mates without asking for money in return.

12- Dabarabka
Considered by the scientists to be the player with the nicest sounding name, which reminds them of a videogame fighter, Dabarabka's presence in this team would be a surprise years ago, but now people are already used to this name. He tends to become aggressive with his opponents and especially with the referee if things start to go wrong for his team, accusing them of conspiracy against him.

16- Ainetyrk
A player extremely involved with the politics of the creations' squad, Ainetyrk is also famous for his rivalry with Aidyalbrats, and the coach will probably avoid to put them to play together during the matches. Another interesting information is that, even being highly rated, Ainetyrk was never able to win a prize during his long career, which is his greatest frustration in the sport.

17- Assogras
Still a somewhat irregular player in performance, as he still didn't get to participate in the competition in every edition like most of his team mates do. But, even with this, Assogras already has some prizes in his name, and appears as a very promising member of this squad, and makes a good partnership with several of his team mates who live in the same region. Also, his name ended being a cool pun in Portuguese, referring to a much feared stereotype.

20- Aidyalbrats
Captain of the team, or at least when he is playing, due to his influence in the politics of this Landau Institute squad, Aidyalbrats is also the most successful member of the team in the footballing world. Actually, not only of those in the team, but also of all the other creations that could be created by the Institute scientists. A 1/3-elf-1/3-dwarf-1/3-human, he mixes well the qualities of all the species inside him.

25- Melesurej
One of the two women of the squad, Melesurej uses football as a hobby in order to attract men, and her objective during this World Cup will be to sleep with the highest number of men and anything else that comes across her during this period. In order to do this, she'll play in very revealing clothes, making a strip tease during halftime wanting to attract more attention. Sister of Cfurej.

26- Nahi'da
The highest rated member of this team who failed to participate in the previous World Cup, Nahi'da's aim is to avoid the same fate this time. Interestingly, his brother has influence over him even though he is far less rated, and isn't even in this squad. Also gets deeply involved in the conversations between the members of the squad.

29- Kesslek
This creation frustrated the scientists when his name ended being extremely close to the one of his inspiration, something that wasn't expected. Kesslek once was one of the leading players of the world, but now got relegated to a bench position. Nowadays he gets more involved in playing ice hockey and in participating in the Olympics.


Attackers:

2- Augiadassac
The other woman of the team, Augiadassac was the queen of the squad for two consecutive cycles, but has just recently lost this position. Is a fierce defender of the women all around the world, and sometimes is very critic of her male team mates. Her playing style is refined, and she is going to be the target player inside the area, wishing to regain her position as key player of the squad.

4- Dnalhtron Nrehtros
Close to ultimate glory in the previous cycle, the creation Dnalhtron Nrehtros always wear red and seems to be always with his best friend, a gallon of beer. He enjoys to participate in fights inside the field, and any other possible controversy. But he has a problem: hates several species of birds, and if one of them is on the pitch during the match, this can greatly disrupt his playing performance.

7- Ainozras
Will act as a supporting attacker for the other two of the squad. Receives the guidance of a very experienced and old mental advisor, who adjusts his playing style. Ainozras is also famous for his longevity, as he ages impressively slower than his team mates in general.

14- Luzauga
A player in good form, Luzauga is a neighbour of Assogras and many other members of this squad, which helps in the team chemistry. Used to play in hot conditions due to having lived in the desert, Luzauga also comes from a very religious place. Is the first choice attacker for the bench.

22- Araonomel Ocopreeuq
Once under the dominance of several other creations seen as myths in most parts of the world, called the extra-dimensionals, Araonomel Ocopreeuq is the older brother of Ruerroh Edsyap, but is in worse form than him. He has earnt a reasonable amount of money during his career due to his personal oil reserves.

24- Llarhpev
A player whose other names and surnames are weird, Llarhpev was for a long time a political leader of this squad, but recent happenings have put him into a coma until he sadly passed away. But his corpse will travel with the team, waiting to be ressurected... or he'll play the matches dead too, no problem.

28- Aipotsob
The father of Aipotsob is more popular than the player himself, being a figure widely known in the world and who has frequent participation in the World Cup. The player himself shares the same style of his father, and may get involved in wars on the pitch if a confusion emerges.

30- Ycnamigerhcraeht
The brother of the starting goalkeeper of this squad is surely the most religious player of this Landau Institute team, and for him this is a very serious issue: he will be reluctant in passing the ball with team mates that doesn't follow his beliefs, and will call them heretics. It will be easy to recognize him if he enters the match, due to him wearing a robe and having a long beard.

Even the coach of the Thirty Creations was created inside the Landau Institute laboratory. The idea was to make someone who would know all the details of the other players, their history and their actions. With this, Yrrab Xam will be able to correctly adjust the tactics.

It is that time of year again, time for another World Cup. This will be the Cosuamr Dragons' third World Cup and the Dragons are growing in experience and talent. After a rough debut in World Cup 51 Cosumar returned for World Cup 52 ranked 118 and had a fairly successful Cup, finishing 6th in the group. For World Cup 53, Cosumar has advanced into the top 90 teams and hopes to make a determined stab at qualifying. It will tkae some luck, but the fans and coaches are confident that this Cup may be a special one for the Dragons. For information on everything Cosumar football see the info below!

Barry Feldman is the father of MF Kalvin Feldman. This is his first time to coach a World Cup team. Don't worry he has plenty of experience coaching Cosumar's best domestic football team the Kaldukosk Krushers. He is currently 41 years of age and has a very stoic personality most of the time.

Assistant Manager: Randy Lewis

Randy Lewis has been an iconic figure in Cosumaran football for decades. Many years ago he was a famed striker for the Coroford Sharks. He retired and became a head coach at age 40. he held that job for 22 years until he was 62. He then retired and has disappeared from the public eye. Many thought he was dead. Now he is 74 and is returning to assist Feldman with World Cup 53.

Varshney led the team in goals in WC 51 and WC 52, scoring two hat tricks. He is the best on the team at getting the ball into the goal
FW Frederick Finnigan (35)
Finnigan is an experienced veteran who has played professionaly for 16 years. He has not lost a step over the years

For WC 53 the Dragons are returning all of their starters from their successful WC 52 campaign.

Coaching Staff and Team Captains

Manager: Barry Feldman

Barry Feldman is the father of MF Kalvin Feldman. This is his first time to coach a World Cup team. Don't worry he has plenty of experience coaching Cosumar's best domestic football team the Kaldukosk Krushers. He is currently 41 years of age and has a very stoic personality most of the time.

Assistant Manager: Randy Lewis

Randy Lewis has been an iconic figure in Cosumaran football for decades. Many years ago he was a famed striker for the Coroford Sharks. He retired and became a head coach at age 40. he held that job for 22 years until he was 62. He then retired and has disappeared from the public eye. Many thought he was dead. Now he is 74 and is returning to assist Feldman with World Cup 53.

Uniforms



Cosumar has three uniforms (left to right) home, away, and alternate. Unfortunately Cosumar must wear the same uniforms as the last cup which feature the old flag of Cosumar. New uniforms are being made and when completed will replace these. But until then, these are Cosumar's uniforms.
