Goto BBCode Request

Postby Solm » Sat Sep 04, 2010 8:30 am

I was wondering if the Administrators would perhaps include a Goto BBCode with the rest of the board's BBCode. Such would allow the poster to make a link at the top of a post to a certain position or area in there post (helpful in long posts or other such informational posts, such as factbooks etc.)

Such code I am thinking of is talked about at this topic on the phpBB forums: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... =1898025&p

Thank You!

You can do that already, notice the little icon to the left of the posters name (Image). If you right click that you should have an option to save the link url. Then all you need to do is put it in a URL tag as such:

Code: Select all
[url=http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?p=3074568#p3074568]Link to a Post in the Middle of a long page of replies[/url]

The above results in this:
Link to a Post in the Middle of a long page of replies

I don't think that's what they're asking for, I think they want to be able to have a link that goes to a specific location within a single post.

There is an anchor BBCode you can use. Here's an example:

Code: Select all
[anchor=anchortagexample]example[/anchor]

You take the url of the thread, then add a hash and the "anchortagexample" you used in the BBCode. (http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=69811#anchortagexample) Now, if you click on it, you should jump to the word example down below:

(adding blank space, or else it hits the bottom of the page and appears not to work)

Thank you from me as well. I'm using this now in the Issues Spoiler List.
