America
A bustling and futuristic, yet corrupt and authoritarian 'dreamland' following the transformation of the U.S from a simple constitutional republic into an authoritarian technocracy was not easy for many American citizens, and the world didn't like it either, but it was mostly full of distraught, chaos and war. The U.S had evolved further than ever before, quickly catching up to China which at the time had surpassed the U.S by years. Employment went up, the streets were safer..in certain aspects at least and the economy was better than ever. It was, truly the American dream. Silicon Valley and many other places across the states gave the world advanced computers, laser weaponry, robots built for civil service and flying cars running on nuclear energy. But some people weren't happy about the corruption, since racism increased, democracy was non-existent, major U.S cities basically became police states, and the environment was being pushed to the very end with new pipelines in Alaska and Texas and forests all across the northwest and other regions being cut down near completely. This resulted in the creation of the Republic of America, or as everybody nicknamed it, the American Resistance. The American Resistance fought a tough battle against the Technocracy of America before the Disaster of 2049 occurred. The technocracy's government was controlled by robots, every single decision was based on what the White House's president [A giant computer] ordered. What if that computer malfunctioned and sent nuclear bombs out worldwide? Thats exactly what happened.
Map of areas directly hit by the nuclear explosions and radiation
The Disaster of 2049
Buildings shook, the streets rumbled and billions died. The worst disaster in history occurred that day. Nukes and radiation landed in all continents and oceans. Europe and the U.S were demolished nearly entirely, and the places that survived the disaster would be sure to soon feel its effects in more than one way. Nearly all of that fancy technology was destroyed as well. America's population had dropped from half a billion people down to..well not so much. Europe lost most of its people as well, the three Asian nations of Japan and Korea having 90% percent of their population. The world was certainly never the same.
The Setting, and additional information
Wasteland 2065 will be set mainly in and around Chicago, Illinois, although as the story progresses, the setting can move. Illinois is in strife, several factions are fighting for its control, and to an extent the Great Lakes. The city is obviously destroyed, but not completely for the plot's convenience. The radiation still exists, but has mostly gone away, leaving a dusty wasteland in the south, and nuclear winter in the north. You will control either a lone survivor, bandit or a member of the many factions. This roleplay is somewhat based on Fallout. I'm also looking for Co-Ops. This will obviously have violence and also contains drugs, alcohol, swearing and minor sexual themes.
Major Factions and Threats
Fourstar Republic The Fourstar Republic was formed inside Chicago shortly after humans first came out from hiding. It began small, and only had a few members, but grew quickly. It is democratic [Yet still flawed due to corrupt leadership and harsh law] and operates several settlements across Chicago, the most notable being its capital, Lincoln Square. They control most of northern Chicago and its northern outskirts, even pouring into Wisconsin. They are at conflict with raiders and the Slavers of the Great Lakes, the Great Lakes most feared human threat.
Slavers of the Great Lakes The Slavers of the Great Lakes is, as its name suggests a band of slavers and bandits which terrorize both the American and Canadian sides of the Great Lakes. They are ruled by the ruthless 'Malcolm Slayer' and are the biggest raider and slaver organisation on the east coast. They are headquartered at the Colosseum, where they keep slaves, store loot and have gladiator battles, although they have camps set up all across the Midwest and south Ontarian Wastes. Typical members wear average raider clothing, rough and tough looking but crude and impractical in reality. They are at conflict with every faction, no wonder.
State of the Wastes Formed by wasteland survivors and mercenaries, the State of the Wastes is a small faction located in the South Chicago wastes. It is a dictatorship, but not radical at least. They are neutral in most conflicts, but have a powerful force of rangers protecting they're settlements which are non-centralized and spread out across the land. Its capital is Southwest City, referring to its location, southwest of Chicago.
Raiders The scourge of the wastes. Present all over, they cause chaos, no they are born for chaos. Looting is their lifestyle, and theres not much which can be done to stop it. They are pretty easy to take down on their own, but do come in groups increasing their level of threat. Most raiders aren't connected to each other, and will openly battle each other for supremacy. The Slavers of the Great Lakes, mentioned earlier are the next step up.
Mutants Radiation does things. It doesn't just create destruction but also defects. Many people and animals have been effected by it, creating all kinds of crazy monsters. Deer, bears, cows, birds and all kinds of other animals have been affected, some are harmless but others will attack on sight, and are pretty vicious. Humans either become mindless, warped by the radiation making them known as ghouls, which means an evil spirit or phantom, especially one supposed to rob graves and feed on dead bodies, although they are in no way supernatural. Some humans, however have kept their sanity, but just with a much different appearance.
Robots Robots are pretty rare since most died off, but some still exist. Some are kind, while others not so much. There are six kinds, construction, fire, security, military, civil service and industry. The first four kinds mention don't have a mind of they're own, except for a few rare ones. Security and military will mostly always attack on sight, construction and fire will mainly be harmless. Civil service and industry do have a mind of their own, ripe with varying personality.
Construction, security, military and fire have a body like this, but with different uniforms and equipment for their respective purpose-
Industry robots look like this, and are attached to walls and ceilings making them near stationary-
Civil service and mobile industry robots look like this-

Tech List
This is a list of some available technology, whether accessible early on or not. You can make suggestions for more tech, or ask about tech and whether it is allowed or not. All technology from the beginning of time-2016 will automatically be accepted, but keep in mind power is mostly gone, and many things are destroyed. Keep in mind more new tech can be found than just what is displayed here.
Custom-made firearms- Firearms made from simple materials such as wood, scrap metals and glass. They are low quality, mainly semi-automatic and very accessible. They can be crafted by hand, with varying ammunition. These are mainly carried by raiders and common wastelanders.
Modern-grade firearms- Guns you'd see today. Berettas, Benellis and Glocks are all guns common in the world of Wasteland 2075, pre-disaster and after it. They are not the same varieties as seen today, but are similar in size, ability, shape and color. They are also quite common, among city gangs and experienced adventurers but also militaries and paramilitaries, where it is used among the rarer laser firearms. They scatter the city, mostly found in gun shops, police stations and military bases, or at least the ones that haven't been looted.
Laser and plasma weapons- These are rare, and for good reason. Laser weapons are exclusively found in military installations, and held by only the most skilled wastelanders and high-ranking military personal. Laser weapons include firearms, flashlights [Although they only hurt when the beam is aimed in someone's eyes, by burning and/or blinding them], grenades and beam swords, which are basically lightsabers. Plasma weapons are even rarer, being only in testing phrase before the bombs were launched. They blast out a powerful amount of electricity, which is very destructive. They can only be found in high-security governmental testing labs with only 10 000 having been manufactured across the U.S, an unknown, but small amount of which are in Chicago.
Vehicles- Vehicles are plenty, but most are rusty and don't work because of the Disaster of 2049's effects, warfare and a lack of energy. Most vehicles can fly, ahem could, because even most working vehicles can't fly due to the lack of atomic energy, which powered them.
Clothing- Most modern clothing can be found, but for the most part will be damaged or unclean. Raiders and poor people wear damaged or self-crafted clothing made of leather, thread and fur. Military and police uniforms match that of todays, except for juggernaut armor [Rare, and equivalent to power armor from Fallout] and stealth suits [Makes you transparent, but still visible. Also rare] Common folk where damaged regular clothing, however some can find, or afford clean and undamaged clothing in the wastes, at stores or made by themselves.
