This is the Federation Wartime Broadcasting Network. All stations shall transit this official message. The following message is broadcast at the request of the Ministry of Health.
At approximately 0113 local time, seven patients were admitted to Campbell City National Hospital showing symptoms of Exanimis infection. All seven patients had been in close contact with persons traveling overseas within the past thirty days. Three of seven patients responded to standard antiviral and supplemental treatment, however the remaining four have deteriorated despite treatment. Within the past hours, twelve more patients have been identified showing similar symptoms in Campbell City, and approximately 87 patients nationwide have been isolated. All of the affected hospitals have been placed on lockdown.
In response to this developing situation, the Ministry of Health is hereby issuing an immediate pandemic alert. Citizens are advised to make emergency preparations to shelter in place or evacuate to a safe shelter, and to stay indoors. The National Civil Defence Administration will provide information on prearranged evacuation measures shortly. Please be advised that railways, motorways and airports may be closed for emergency services.
In order to assist quarantine and treatment efforts, the People's Defence Forces of the Federation, on the authority of the Chancellor, have declared martial law throughout all federation jurisdiction until further notice. Transition To War measures are also being implemented. All reservists, and any members of the Homeland Liberation Militia are to report to designated rallying points.
Remember that there is nothing to be gained by panicking or attempting to flee. You are far more likely to be seriously injured if you leave the safety of your shelter. The safest place to be during an outbreak is sheltering in your own home. If you are not trained, and do not have an assigned duty, the best thing to do is shelter in place. Do not attempt to confront infected.
Report any infection to the local authorities as soon as possible. If someone in your party becomes infected, and you cannot reach the authorities, be sure to isolate them. If you yourself become infected, and you cannot reach the authorities, make sure you are not putting others in more danger. Remember that as a last resort, suicide is preferable to allowing oneself to become infected any harm others.
Information from your local Civil Defence authority will follow the conclusion of this message. This message will be repeated again in approximately fifteen minutes along with any new information. Remember to turn off your receiver while not in use to conserve power and avoid attracting infected.
