Increase Citizens Rights
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.
Category: Human Rights
Strength: Strong
Proposed by: Darnolia
Description: If this proposal is approved, than three different areas of civil rights will be strengthened.
1: Rights to firearms. CONCERNING the fact that some nations want to confiscate gun rights, and by extension, firearms themselves from loyal, law abiding citizens, here are some facts that may make others think twice. For example, statistics show that areas without any gun control in place see a decrease in crime rates be as much as 82%. This is due to the fact that allowing citizens to possess firearms allows said citizens to defend themselves from any threat, such as criminals, those that want to cause harm deliberately, and if the nation's policy will allow it, these citizens can even participate in programs that will allow them to make a citizens arrest if they spot something suspicious. However, areas that have gun control in place see an increase in crime rates by 100 to 150%. This is due to the fact that without a firearm, a law abiding citizen cannot deter a criminal if they are robbed or attacked. Henceforth, meaning that they can not defend themselves. Also to note, if firearms are banned from the public, regardless if a citizen has a valid permit or license to carry one, then this would leave many law abiding citizens very vulnerable to being attacked, robbed, or even killed. Just take into consideration that many of these citizens may have families that they are willing to protect, and if they have no firearms to defend themselves with, then their homes can be broken into, ultimately leading to the deaths of many innocent civilian lives. However, there is a solution to this problem. If we were to loosen the restrictions on firearm usage for all nations, then every citizen would be able to sleep in peace at night, knowing that if a criminal breaks into their home, then these said citizens can defend themselves, or at least deter these criminals. In addition to this, I am including an act called 'Clause 116', which states that, if the government of any nation decides to take firearms from the public, then the people can hold a vote, which would force the government of their nation to reconsider it's actions.
2: Minority Rights. CONSIDERING the fact that some nations restrict the voting power of minority groups in government, I have a solution. If this is passed, then any minority groups in any nation will have the right to vote in any government, regardless of race, color, national origin, culture, religion, or gender. Again, just like with the firearms policy, if this right has been violated by the government of any nation, the citizens can evoke 'Clause 116', which would allow these minority groups to hold a vote that would force their government to reconsider their actions.
3: Right to Free Speech. RECOGNIZING that some nations violate this right many times, I have come up with a solution. If this is passed, then all nations will be forced to give their people to freely express themselves, regardless of color, race, religion, nationality, culture, or gender. If this right is ever violated by the government of a nation at all, then the citizens of said nation can evoke 'Clause 116', which would allow said citizens to hold a vote, forcing their government to reconsider their actions.
