I vehemently condemn this blatant imperialism being perpetrated by the Empire of Nihon as a way to try and provoke the revolutionaries of the world. This is a personal latter from the office of Shogun of the Empire of Greater Nihon and head of Maki Bakufu, Maki Kojiro, to the office of Kim Sung Hui. The Empire of Greater Nihon wishes to communicate that the troops will not be withdrawn, and no socialist revolution shall be tolerated on property of Shogun Maki Kojiro. Needless to say, it is also within views of Shogun Kojiro to announce that any sort of warmongering towards the Empire of Greater Nihon, it's allies or vassals will not be tolerated by the Nihonese government, and will result in a response appropriate to caused damage.

The government of the Empire of Greater Nihon urges Chosonese government to withdraw from Western Choson and case all acts of socialist aggression. This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated not only by Nihon, but also by international community, and will be persecuted by force of arms.

Originally the Atmaeran landmass consisting of 711,501 square miles of territory existed under the rule of a continental Empire until a schism in the late 1930's left Atmaera divided between Monarchist Communist and what was left of The original Empire which was reformed into a Republic. Eventually however through more conflict as well as diplomacy the Republic managed to reunify the continent under one flag. As a result of Atmaera's past the people have a deep respect for tradition, national pride, and the importance of unity. Radicals and Fringe groups of all kinds are shunned. Citizens are required to take part in the National Service Program which includes paramilitary training as well as teaching cultural and historical values.

Before the countries were united by Manchester in the mid 50's they were in perpetual conflict. With the exception of Lancaster all the other countries governments were toppled with usually bloodless coups orchestrated by Hal Knyaston. Knyaston was the man who by implementing many pro-worker laws governing workplace and housing had successfully changed Manchester from a glorified slum into an industrial jewel. He did this by making many companies semi-state owned with the government owning 40% of shares but allowing the own to operate how they saw fight and only interjecting when deemed necessary. With the newly annexed lands he set about a process of rapid industrialisation, mostly payed for by tax revenue generated in Manchester. Whilst the industrialisation was underway he ordered that trade unions
be formed in these areas, not out of any particular love but so that the workers could be heavily propagandised to reject separatism and to curb dangerous socialist attitudes that might crop up. In 1967 it was deemed that the form enemies were ready to be fully integrated into the Republic. The Republic was set-up in a way so that the individual states could self-govern, with the exception of the few federal laws and any new federal law is extremely hard to pass, as this was seen as the best and most efficient way to run and organise the Republic. Though there have always been problems with separatists still loyal to the former monarchs as well as anarcho-communists they are kept in check by the local police and the armies various brigades. It has been made incredibly easy for the army to declare martial law and in times of trouble Officers as low as brigadiers can call martial law in the area of land under his command.

Northumbrian territory spans for roughly 28,023 kilometres squared and whilst it is mostly plains and fertile farmland it is not usually used in such a way. Most of the 22,000,000 Northumbrians live in the major cities such as Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds or York with most people either working industrial jobs or ones related to finance and admin. Overall the Northumbrian Economy is worth 211,748,000,000 Sceat. While trade unions are commonplace they are made with the understanding that the group is made of individuals rather than individuals making up a group. Individualism is encouraged as well as competitiveness and ridicule as these are seen as the best ways to self improve. Most citizens in the Republic own a firearm and can be considered semi-active in the army reserve and many who aren't in the military keep up the physical standards setup in the military with overweight people only constituting 10% of the population. The military is very omni-present in Northumbrian society with the more militaristic principles of honour and hard-work being passed on into civilian life. Egalitarianism is core to society with most Northumbrians finding judging someone on some thing that is out of their control, such as race, is wrong although most are very mistrusting of outsiders. Culture-wise most Northumbrians love drinking and younger Northumbrian will often go binge drinking on friday nights.
Government welfare exist in a capacity to help the poorest families to survive, to make sure that those with disabilities aren't a burden to their family and to encourage or discourage certain behaviour with those who are are morbidly obese being taxed at a slightly higher rate due to them cost the NHS more money.

The Army is the largest branch of the armed forces with around 300,000 active service personnel which are formed into 16 Light Infantry, 16 Armoured Infantry and 1 Armoured Brigade with many other support brigades that aid the combat ones. The army has 17 different corps, there's the Armoured, Nursing, Small Arms College, Physical Training, NA Special Forces, Dental, Medical, Adjutants, Infantry, Logistics, Intelligence, Engineers, Republican Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Republican Brigade of Artillery, Signals and Air Support Corps. Due to the nature of light infantry they can be rapidly deployed almost anywhere, cheaply and effectively and are very capable in terms of counter terrorism and fighting insurgents and are more than capable of holding ground in the defence against mechanised infantry and tanks.
The Navy consists of 2 aircraft carriers RNS Brigantia and RNS Brigid as well as 18 destroyers, 21 frigates, 2 assault ships and 4 nuclear hunter-killer submarines. Most of the ships are ageing with 60% being from the early 1980's though they are kept viable through constant updates of their systems. The Aircraft carriers hold 18 Vickers Seafalcon and 4 SeaBee Helicopters. The Seafalcon is another antiquated design this time from 1976 but just like most of the ships it has been heavily upgraded and is capable of carrying a heavy and varied bombload as well as out manoeuvring the opposition.
The Airforce exists mostly to cover the ground troops and to carryout precision strikes against heavier ground targets in the aid of infantry. The main airbase is NAF Leeming however many civilian airports and airstrips can be used as back ups in times of war. To boot there are many secret airbases used by the NAF to launch their Vickers Falcons from utilising their VTOL capability. As well as the Falcons the NAF also operates the LAB Typoon as a multirole strikefighter and the UAP Jaguar which is a low-level high-speed ground attack aircraft. The NAF is also in charge of operating the many radar stations and monitoring air traffic. Like the other branches of the armed forces there are many reserve personnel amongst the general population with most airline pilot serving as back-ups in case the regular pilots are killed or wounded inaction.

THE BASIS FOR THE EMPIRE OF GREATER NIHON:

I decided to write this text to explain how the Empire of Greater Nihon works, citing the fact that many people understood not that concept. To properly understand mechanisms functioning behind the Empire of Greater Nihon, we have to look at current information age, analyze some geopolitical situations, and get a firm understanding of WHY they happen and are important. One point that has been causing this misunderstanding is the view of the nature of power and the state - a classic post westphalian one, focusing on the nation-state....

Problem is, The Empire of Greater Nihon is NOT nation state as British Empire was. It represents something completely different, with completely different nature of politics.

See, we have to understand something: nation-state is dying. Globalization - a process happening right now that only few look at - is killing it, and is not something that can be stopped. Centralized nation-state is purely product of Industrial age. It begun when the kings took over provincial courts of barons, princes, dukes, earls and counts. Then when they focused in their hand full monopoly over justice. Finally, when coupled with industrial revolution, a nation-state was created. In such environment political changes quickly moved forward - people started to identify with their state more (civic nationalism), nation begun to be considered by various political scientists as product of the state... then, first democratic revolutions happened and democracy slowly replaced monarchy. Under democracy, various political ideologies came to be, left free room to spread among society.

Yet, since last 50 years, we are observing a completely new situation emerging. In 1950s industrial era reached it's peak. Today, industry slowly is becoming so efficient that soon it will need no human worker - third industrial revolution will happen, where man would be replaced by a machine. Since machine works better and more efficient than a man, there will be oversupply of workers on the market and oversupply of products - costs of manufacturing will drop and everyone would get his TV or phone - for laughingly cheap price. Services became most influential and needed part of the economy.

In early 2000s a "third wave" as Alvin Toffler coined it, or Information Age, started to begin. Last 50 years seen development of completely new forms of communication - such as internet, which caused the fact that if a mouse moves in Beijing, person in London would know it in a second. World was never connected as much as it is before. Globalization is a direct result of outgrowth of information technology and new methods of travel, such as jet planes. It's most important point?

It weakened nation state.

If we look around, Westphalian order is no more. It are not only the super-national organizations attacking state from above - attacks are coming from below as often in form of various non-state actors and local groups. During World War II nation-state lost monopoly on violence - and path of non-state actors to becoming combatants marched from that point forward. Guerilla warfare given tool for various groups to fight not for the state - but for their ethnicity, ideology, religion or commercial interests. It created new kind of war, pinning large non-state groups against each other (such as Jihad vs the West, Protestants vs Catholics in Northern Ireland - most of violence was done by religious and ethnic paramilitary groups bombing each other such as IRA vs UFV/UDA). Very often non-state actors created their own state within a state, formally having no borders but replacing law enforcement (police no go areas) and taking over many activities such as justice (sharia area) or economic functions (hezbollah running hospitals).From equal nation - states, the world is turning into vertical overlapping structures, with higher level of political authority at top, but with limited influence at bottom. Information technology fuels those revolutionary changes, contributing to further breakdown of nation-state borders.


So how the Empire of Greater Nihon ties to this?

My idea was; due to such state of the world, people are looking back at last time such decentralized order existed - to medium ages - and draft ideas from there, upgrade them with new concepts developed during the post-medieval ages, to cope with this situation. Purpose of every empire was really to provide prosperity (Pax Romana serves as a good example) by facilitating trade exchange between the regions. Of course for trade stability was needed and thus empires maintained large armies - more powerful than what individual kings could set up. This is also the goal of the Empire of Greater Nihon.

States - or non - state actors, Kojiro accepts corporations or NGOs too - pay the Nihonese for protection, and providing stability for economic growth. Purpose of my initiatives - such as voluntary free trade networks - was very similar. It has to be noted that each vassal is fully free to wage his own independent foreign and domestic policy - Shogun Kojiro has no right to tell you weather you want homosexuals to marry or not, or weather you want to nationalize PetrOil or not. His sole goal is to provide stability and conditions for growth of commerce - the real Pax Nihonica! Each vassal rules his land as he sees fit and answers only to God as long as he does not begin genocide or large scale political persecution. And sovereignity of Kojiro is solely nominal.

Of course I wanted there to be a cultural component, but it is optional and not necessary to include about Nihonese culture flooding your nation, and at least some states styling themselves politically on Nihon (just as China used to be model for other states of Asia and had enormous cultural influence on them). This pat however is optional and only for people interested in it.

I also wanted to tell that this is fundament to my RPing group - focused on neo-feudal world and struggles for power in it...

The Hatayan Republic condemns the formation of this organization, as only a means for Nihon to attain complete domination of the Far East, and expand to its sphere of influence to the rest of the world. As a nation fiercely opposed to the cabal of imperialists and aggressors that is SACTO, we cannot allow this act of imperialism to go unnoticed. Our condemnation is fierce and relentless, joining this group only makes you a puppet, as means for the goals of Nihonese empire to transpire. While we stand in fierce opposition to communist regimes such as East Chosan, and so called "progressevist" regimes in the Philippines specifically, this group is scary in how it exploits less powerful nations with promises of protection, Hatay will oppose this group as a product of Nihonese expansionism, and as it is headed by a nation that has actively insulted our national dignity, we can only feel threatened by it.
