I am really confused by that statement.

Anyway: My goal for WV48 is to get 5th place. I need to beat ToBu at something :-/

[Caution: unpopular opinion]

I keep hearing people like Brit talking about the contest, wanting it to be getting bigger. The question I want to pose is... is there such as thing as too big? I think there is. WV32 was too big when we had 40+ entries, and to that extent doing commentary was very time-consuming. I love getting and doing commentary. Resultantly, I think WV can get too big, although I'm not going to propose any limits or anything for the time being.

Okay. Sure, I do want the contest to be the biggest and the 'baddest' because it's the Worldvision Song Contest, not the 30-nations-only Contest. Yes, WorldVision 40 (in my latest memory) was big but I don't see a problem with that.

Sure, you like doing commentary and we had 47 entries, it would be time consuming. But 1. It's not our fault (as commentators) that we don't get through all the nations. At the end of the day, it's a first come first serve thing. The earlier you post your entry, the likelihood of you receiving comments increases. 2. Maybe pick the best 20 and the worst 5?

Edit: Another question is, can the contest get too small?

To those confused, this isnt my first time coming back, nor is it the second. When I first started WorldVision I was named Kalusia - which was a name I thought up completely independent from Kalosia. After that I gave up on Kalusia and became Tretilia (very briefly) and then Lons (and now I'm Lons again)

Edit: Another question is, can the contest get too small?

I like 40+ nation contests. Makes winning (or getting top 5) all the more satisfying. (that came off sorta douchey, oops)
As for small ones, I remember WV31. 22 nations participated in that one, which meant that getting top 10 only meant that you were in the top half of the scoreboard.
An example is how "Perfect Good Time" got 13th in WV31, in the bottom half, while the better entry "Glow" got 15th in WV40, in the top third.

And not only do smaller contests screw up placement comparisons across contests, they also reduce the likelihood of commentary, simply because there are fewer users participating. Examples include how WV39 (around 45 nations) had about 12 different commentaries (up to 14, depending on your definitions of "different" and "commentary") while WV31 (around 22 nations) had a total of 6. I personally enjoy seeing multiple views on my entry, and I believe most people do as well.

Of course, I agree with Mister X's statement on how commentary can be a drag in crowded editions, so I prefer contests with around 30-35 nations if I'm doing commentary.

SINUN VALINTASI LIGHTNING EDITION

Significantly shorter than a regular edition of Sinun Valintasi, the Lightning Edition is not considered part of the normal Sinun Valintasi progression. Containing only two entries, in fact more like tunes than actual entry concepts, this special edition of the Tödlichebujoki national final is mainly intended as a tiebreaker for two compelling choices facing TÖBUK's WorldVision entry decision board.

TG your top choice to Sinun Valintasi by Monday, May 30th at 20:00 UTC (21:00 BST, 3:00 PM CDT, 3:00 AM in Jakarta). Your input will be greatly appreciated!

And also, there is no point of complaining about how big a contest can get, when you don't want to help reduce it by being scared of doing semi finals. According to the rules of World Hit Festival , when the Festival hits over 30 participants, there is a semi final. It has been done before, so I don't really understand why that can't be translated here? Nevertheless, it's either stick up with 40+ nations in the Final or go through a semi final and have 26 in the grand final.

And based on previous comments, people just don't want to do a Semi Final...so....

See also: WHF. We've reached a point where there were 9 nations participating (the bare minimum would technically be 6) and perhaps I am partially to blame for that as overseer idk. I will reiterate what the Sarian said.

By the way, the main downside of having a really big WV in my opinion is really just having more entries to score (and perhaps in such cases then the voting period could be made longer). Especially with the current format of the WHF (which didn't exist when the only edition with semifinals happened), it would be easier to organize semifinals but I'm not saying any change should be enacted to WorldVision. Let differences be.

Why Jakarta time? (Also 3AM ICT/WIB corresponds to 10pm CE(S)T so... yeah you're correct. I suggest using this)

I took a trip down memory lane and was looking back at my WV and WHF hostings and it appears I've left a sizeable legacy... I haven't decided yet but maybe I should make a special event to commemorate WV50...

...also for WV38 I attempted introduced for the first time to idea of holograms (to avoid the prospect of actual deaths occurring in performances)... which means I've one-upped Eurovision :lol2: didn't host that one tho
you guys should definitely take a look at the graphics I made for WHF19

I might be waiting a while

Or Russadonia, New Warwick, Luziyca, and Chenkorya (I think that's how it's spelled)

The list could go on and on, really. :meh:

Ohh yeah, I still would love to compete against Worszary/Chenkorya in WorldVision, don't think I ever did.

What I find sad the most is the "generation swap." People who participated in WV10 don't "exist" anymore - yet the contest is still running strong and the powers of the contest has been handed over.
