A video was uploaded to the Internet. Its' poster, Snowflake Games, SnoGa to its' fans, had recently been up about a couple of new franchises. Names like Went to 4000, Brought You a Shirt and Misfits in Action had been previously discussed, but nothing came out of those yet. However, that video was... special.

A grassy, calm surface appeared on the screen. Steps could be heard, until an anthropomorphic red fox appeared, big eyes, clothed as a kid, standing on two feet. He clearly was worried, looking both sides. A wine-tinted bar appeared on the bottom of the screen with the words in white "Thun the Fox" and his original series' logo. He finally gave a sigh of relief until...

"Come back here, you damned fox!" yelled a female voice and then a bullet passed near the fox, scaring him silly and causing him to continue running. He was followed by a well-endowed female cop. "Freeze! You're against the law!" she kept yelling until the screen froze, adding a metallic bar to the bottom of the screen with the word "Tsukiko" and her series' logo. The screen unfroze and she kept running, eventually moving out of the screen.

A logo popped up over that calm place and the words "Coming next year." said it all. The Sunrisian company was finally doing a Fighting Crossover game.

But a poll opened up and that's what was the surprise. "What character from the World Cup by SnoGa should make the cut?" Now, the game was on.
Tails... Watch out, you're gonna crash, aaaaah!

The official blog of Shirley Phelps-Roper

Recently, the heathen nation of Ceni released its top movies. I, the cultured movie critic that I am, decided to review these movies.

Lost At Sea
I liked this movie! So much death and destruction. Unfortunately, the cinematography, costume design, and screenplay let the death scenes down, as is to be expected from a heathen nation.

The War Between The Worlds
More death, which is nice. Unfortunately, besides watching heathens die, there wash;t much satisfaction derived from this film.

My Little Valladar
This movie was awful. Very little violence, even fewer dead heathens, and more glorified heathen horses. I would not recommend it.

As you can see, these movies were not very good. Let's look at a movie that is good:

Based on the screenplay from the acclaimed Shirley Phelps-Roper, Associated Passions is at times heartwarming, at times depressing, and at times thrilling. Directed by Shirley Phelps-Roper, the film follows Shirley Phelps-Roper (played by Shirley Phelps-Roper) through Associated Godlands's quest to win the World Cup. It features terrific directing, a spectacular lead performance, and a cameo from God Himself. The film deservedly won the government-issued awards for Best Picture, Best Lead Actress, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.
Puppet of San Llera
Praise The Lord And Savior Jesus Christ!!!
Ruled by God and his sapient mouthpiece, Queen Phelps Roper
This nation (obviously) does not represent my actual opinions

Now, to the episode of the Ezekiel Show I'm sure many of you have been looking forward to! Esportiva's simulated qualification stage! Our algorithms came up with Esportiva going for the highly controversial and confusing Casaran system. This would occur with 26 nations fighting over 5 qualification spaces, San Jose Guayabal already qualifying due to being hosts, over the course of 8 matches.

As it turns out, the Casaran system is highly complicated, and depends on teams playing each other in their "bracket" which we worked out was those teams closest to them, playing the opponents closest to them in points, provided they hadn't played them already. To make this simulation at all possible, we set all games to be at neutral venues, but with less matchdays, it is entirely feasible that a regular number of home and away game could be attained. Let's look at matchdays 1-4, then the table at the end of those 4 matchdays:

While it was clear the new king didn't bother himself with the Mighty Figs, the team had stormed the nation these qualifiers. Coming out as a surprise name when Barunia slipped on its' own feet and when Krytenia... well, was Krytenia; the normally minnow Esportivans were starting to make a number. And quite the number, they could even end up at Valladares or San Jose Guayabal if a mess up wasn't on the way. But it was all thanks to a good couple of things. And what's the best way to start?

"O SAFADÃO CHEGOOOOOU!"

Ah, yes. Werdickley Safadão. With a W, will the fans at Norrion and his folks at Matthewsiania gladly remind you. The Fig number 10 of the team, the Smiling Striker himself. While not making much an impact against the Krytenians, sans a pass or two to the even more so competent Juanita Girardi, all the other games had him making some sort of difference. Whether was it against the Red Blackiland squad or against the smaller Swestan, Safadão made things of beauty come around every time. The always modest Safadão however, will gladly remind you that he's not the only one in town and he's quite right about that!

Specially when to his side is prolific Juanita Girardi, Mexicalito's great striker. Not even the Cyan could stop her on the quest of surpassing Safadão as the striker figure of Matthewsiania. A girl that knows her business well enough, one could say. The fiery redhead tries to make the best of her shots and some of these are the reason why the Figs got to this point in town. Or how about the defensive players? With Mixeria and Marcelinho Sulista refreshing the defence, the Matthewsianian Iron Back has been going Platinum these days against all foes.

Or the coach Verdinho coud be doing a good job. Who knows.

"I hate this job."
This is Matthewsiania, Northern Sunrise Islands strange flag-colored puppet.

Curtis Steeling appeared on ENTV Sports yesterday

James Hartney (host): Good evening everyone, welcome to our coverage of the World Cup. We are once again bringing you all the information, live from Valladares, in what has proven to be an exciting qualification period for the fans at home. In a competition that has seen the national team face only 2 losses in what has been an extremely challenging group for the top 4 teams, the matches continue, with the national team having a bye-day today. While many groups have been resolved, with the automatic qualification position already confirmed, the group in which Ethane is in is still up in the air, with 4 teams fighting it out for the top 2 positions. Tonight, to talk about the World Cup, we have got Curtis Steeling, the well-renowned Ethanian national football team manager, on to talk about his teams successes, and where they can go from here.

So, Curtis, your team's come from nothing, to a strong candidate for the World Cup. How have you managed to create a solid, competitive team in such a short amount of time?

Curtis Steeling: Thank you for having me on here tonight James. It sure is good to be here. Our team is remarkable if I am to be honest. They have an extremely good work ethic, and have the passion and desire to play top quality football. We are new yes. Not long ago, we had no rank, no one had heard of us, or our national league. None of our players were known around the world, and our nation had no name recognition in football- the only success we had really found so far was in the IBS X, where we did remarkably well. We formed a team about a year ago, from the Ethanian national league, one that has never been released internationally, which have been training extremely hard for this World Cup. We went to the Baptism of Fire, and it's not like we did amazingly there either- we were knocked out in the quarter-finals to a team that is now doing terribly in their group compared to us- we are even doing better than the winners of the Baptism of Fire currently are- a testament to the success and hard work ethic of this team.

We came to this world cup, expecting to maybe pick up a few points, cause a few upsets, but not expecting to have any shot at qualification in this world cup. But I can sit here today and say that we have a good chance of being in a possible qualifying position- even though we are in our debut world cup. I believe this success is to do with the strong work ethic of this world cup. Our team is full of hard working individuals, who put their best efforts into this team, and look to the greatest success. The team really is good. This unity of the team also helps, with the defensive mentality of the team helping to keep out goals from the much powerful nations.

James Hartney: Remarkable, don't you think? Anyway, what do you think about the success of Dewayne Boivin? He is doing extremely well, don't you think?

Curtis Steeling: He is good. He is very good at the striker position, and has really stood out when finishing goals. However, I prefer not to single out players as being the bringer of all our successes. It is the work of all our team that manages to bring the victory of our team to light. Without the rest of the team, there is no goals, and there are no wins, because there is no unity, no teamwork, no work ethic, no nothing. Boivin may be good, but he needs the whole team to play.

Group 6 Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts

Cosumar take inside edge in Group 19 race with vital win over Eastfield Lodge

K A L D U K O S I C -- It hasn't been the dominant Qualifying many Cosumarites expected after a favorable group draw, but the Vanquishers have avoided any major disasters and picked up some crucial results. None more so than last night's 3-1 win over Group 19 leaders Eastfield Lodge.

The third-seed Eastfielders have been one of the major surprises of this World Cup along with the likes of Omerica and Ficiscia. They have navigated the minefield of Qualifying brilliantly, going 7-0-0 against nations not named Cosumar. Despite the Rushmori side's incredible run and Cosumar's four pitfall draws, the Vanquishers still have a great shot to win the group thanks to having handed Eastfield Lodge two losses - their only blemishes. Under the leadership of Lowell Brown, Eastfield Lodge have held the group lead for much of Qualifying...until last night at Leviathan Arena.

Ole Öhman broke the deadlock for the desperate Cosumarites in the middle of the first half, smashing a close-range shot past Veronica Puppy at her near post after Ace Newman threaded a ball through the Eastfielder defense.

The goal was somewhat against the run of play, as Eastfield Lodge's precise movement and passing had been controlling the flow of the game to that point. They had a golden opportunity to equalize in the 30th minute, but Tia Drenas fluffed his lines on a wide-open chance inside the area and Jakk Winterfyll easily blocked it with a knee. They were level seconds later, however, when winger Roman Qwivotic swooped in and finished the job on the rebound.

But Öhman sealed Cosumar's ascension to the top spot with a delightful piece of individual skill in the second half, cutting inside from his customary place on the right flank before letting fly a powerful drive that crashed straight into the back of the net. One could argue that Puppy could have done more to stop it, but let that take nothing away from Öhman's work. The Sabrefell Athletic star leads Cosumar in both goals and assists so far in this World Cup cycle. Even if half of those eight assists came in the 6-2 swarming of Vaugania, it's still a career campaign for the 30-year-old.

With five minutes remaining on the timer, another longtime Team Cosumar star put the game beyond any doubt, officially commencing celebrations around the Fiefdom. Peter Svensson played a long ball forward from the back, and Vareza Na'Noni blasted the wonderful third goal home, the ball swerving gorgeously around Daniel Keeble and Dylan Bell Jnr before beating Puppy. 3-1 Cosumar.

Midfielder Ole Öhman has been in cracking offensive form in Qualifying, tying for the team lead in goals last night

While Öhman and Na'Noni's top-drawer finishes will garner most of the attention, Gethin Ramsey will probably most pleased with the way his team defended.

Eastfield Lodge played a very good game - much of which was played in Cosumar's own half. But despite the sharp opposition and heavy pressure, only a few real dangerous chances were allowed. The back line of Gorham-Soarhaven-Svensson-Serra was fearless. The fullbacks didn't get forward into the attack nearly as much as they usually do for Cosumar, but had some pivotal defensive plays. Defensive midfielder Vyacheslav Kolen was also a big factor when he entered the game in the second half, a stabilizing presence in front of the back three as Cosumar switched to a 3-5-2. It was, finally, Kolen's first Team Cosumar cap. What a way to earn it.

Thanks to the team's most gutsy performance of Qualifying, they are still undefeated and have 22 points to Eastfield Lodge's 21. That said, the Eastfielders still have three matches left on their schedule, while Cosumar only have two. To win the group, Cosumar will have to take more points from these next two matchdays than Eastfield Lodge do in their final three. Fortunately, both remaining opponents, Owner-osity and Unified Lycan Territories, are lowly-ranked and already eliminated. The needed six points should be expected.

Eastfield Lodge have a tougher road. Vaugania is a guaranteed three points for them, but Szavoda and Sarrbia are heftier obstacles. Even if the Vanquishers win out, they will still need Eastfield Lodge to drop points against one of those two. And considering our first leg results against Owner-osity and ULT were 0-0 and 1-0, winning out is far from guaranteed.

The finish line is in sight. Cosumar have the inside edge at the moment, but this race is going to be a nail-biter.

Vilita Held in Critical Polkopian Clash

Jungle Cats finally record Clean Sheet, but can't score a goal

Image

Alikki-Corra, Vilita :: A 1-1 draw with the Unified Sunrise Islands. A 3-3 draw with Kernansquillec. A 4-3 win over Valladares. A 3-3 draw with Audioslavia. A 1-4 defeat to Pasarga. A 2-4 defeat to San José Guayabal. A 4-2 victory over Nizov. A 2-3 defeat to Polkopia. A shocking 1-2 result against the Giant Bird of Lymantatia. A 3-1 victory over the New Ducklands. A 3-1 victory over Taeshan. A smashing 7-2 result over Koenigreich. A 4-1 victory over Nizov.

Thirteen games. Thirty-Eight (38) goals scored. Thirty (30) goals conceded. 6 Wins, 3 Draws, 4 defeats. Not a particularly impressive run for a team coming off a World Cup semi-final appearance and currently ranked 4th in the world. There was one stat, however, that was particularly troubling to Vilita Jungle Cats head coach Ritopa Simafela. Zero Clean Sheets.

After posting 5 clean sheets during the succesful World Cup 73 campaign, Simafela's Jungle Cats had posted exactly zero during the World Cup 74 campaign thus far. It was a statistic that was first noticed by Simafela during the mid-way break in World Cup Qualifying, and something that was clearly on the Vilitan coaches mind during the match against Nizov when he yanked Kalek Intafel after the Alikki-Corra FC netminder conceded a goal in the first half. Cilamara Issah came in for the second half of the match and did something that no Vilitan goalkeeper had done since Zelkki Milake during the first match of World Cup 73 Qualifying: Not concede a goal.

Of course, 45 minutes does not a clean sheet make. Instead of sticking with Issah for the crucial match in Polkopia, Simafela reverted back to all-star netminder Zelkki Milake, the hero of World Cup 68 and the netminder who was responsible for the last clean sheet kept by the Jungle Cats.

90 minutes into the match against Polkopia, Milake had finally ended the Jungle Cats long run without a clean sheet. Unfortunately the for #4 ranked team in the multiverse, their opponents; Polkopia, also kept a clean sheet. The goalless draw would hold dire implications for the Jungle Cats qualification chances. Instead of clawing to within 4 points of the top spot, Vilita would leave Polkopia 7 points back with just 9 to play for; a virtually impossible mountain to climb and leaving the possibility of Automatic Qualification all but out of reach for the top ranked side in Group 11.

Gregoryisgodistan Beats Damukuni

Gregoryisgodistan has beaten Damukuni, 2-0, in World Cup Qualifying. After the game, the players celebrated by singing songs of praise to Lord Almighty Gregory, bowing to him in statue and in person, singing the national anthem 23 times, and burning Damukuni flags. They also burned statues and effigies of Dumpy O'Rumpy, Queen Margaret, King Petrus, and other wicked heathens who seek to destroy Gregoryisgodistan. They also burned flags of all the nations on the Enemy List while singing songs like "The Day King Petrus Dies", "Kill The King" and "We Will Destroy Dumpy O'Rumpy".

As the Damukuni players were heading back to the bus, fans threw rocks, poop, pee, vomit, beans, gruel, prune juice, and blood at them to punish them for being from a wicked, heathen land. Each of these fans received a one million greggygodbuck reward. They then pelted the bus with rocks and shattered a few of the windows before it drove away. The driver was driving so fast, he ran over a slave who was serving as parking lot attendant, and killed him. Consequently, Lord Almighty Gregory has demanded one billion greggygodbucks in reparation from the bus driver and/or the Damukuni government. Alternatively, the bus driver can be sent to Gregoryisgodistan to serve as a slave for life. It is up to Dumbokuni.

For now though, Gregoryisgodistan will face Asuraia at their new home on Slave Island 3 after Lord Almighty Gregory nuked that heathen nation into oblivion in his infinite benificence. Asuraia was wicked, now it is gone. The soccer team is now slaves who will play soccer and slave, then slave exclusively after Qualifying is over. Gregoryisgodistan will likely go to the playoffs if they beat Acronius. But that is a big if, so who knows what will happen? For now, we have to sit back, watch the Foot Slaves, and cheer them on. Gregoryisgodistan is doing well this cycle, so who knows what will happen? They have experienced a resurgence under their new coach. Lord Almighty Gregory hopes Gregoryisgodistan will qualify for its second World Cup, but even if not, they can always win the Cup of Harmony. Either way, there will be great rejoicing in Gregoryisgodistan.
Gregoryisgodistan, population 75,000,000. All citizens are required to worship Lord Almighty Gregory, our head of state, as a deity.

Valanora: A Modern History
Chapter 1: The First Step

The Eternal Empire spans across a continent and can trace its origin to over twenty-thousand years ago, thus earning its moniker as the Eternal Empire. It all began with a fellowship of seven elves, three male and four female, who had set out from their home on a quest to fulfill a long forgotten prophecy. They had set out upon this quest when a traveling priestess had come to their village and spoke of this prophecy to the entire tribe, a tale that spoke of a sanctuary where all of elvenkind could come to call home and live a serene, harmonious life. Those who would seek out this promised land would know that they had found it when the found a white tree that grew silver fruit, a sign of the Great Others that this piece of land on Silverymoon* was sacred and would be a place for all elvenkind to live in prosperity.

With gathered supplies, the seven set out from their village on their voyage, not knowing how long or where this quest might take them. The priestess had been vague in details apart from that of the most sacred of trees and none of the seven knew of any place that had white trees much less those that bore silver fruit. Nonetheless the fellowship was confident that if they stuck together, that they would eventually come upon this promised land of harmony and prosperity. Their names were Feanor, Celedan, and Îdhdur of the males while the females were Melikki, Neena, Artemis, and Elune.

For ten years the fellowship traveled, scouring high and low looking for the place that the priestess had described to them. Across lakes, rivers, and even oceans did the companionship cross, running across other groups of elves and various villages, asking each for any piece of information that they could get for the promised land. None of the other villages had even heard of the tale and very few had ever come across white trees, none of those though recalling any of them having silver fruit. Ten long years had strained their bonds but they had managed to maintain them, with six of the seven forming intimate relations, only Elune not partaking in such activities. Elune was the most determined of the seven to find this location and to bring the rest of their people to it should the priestess' story turn true.

After nearly a month of traversing a monstrous mountain chain*, the group then traversed a mighty river that had a mysterious waterfall that seemed to shine in an orange glow*. Nearly a week after crossing this great river downstream, they came upon a field of white trees. Standing out among the rest was a singular tree that no other tree grew within thirty feet of and at least twenty feet above the rest of the treeline. There upon its branches were silver apples and it was upon this sight that the group rejoiced for despite the long distances they had traveled and the time it had taken them to get there, they had found the promised land that the priestess had promised them. It was now a decision of what to do next with this discovery...

*1 Silverymoon is what Vanorians call this world
*2 This mountain chain is now known today as The Spine of Arrosia
*3 The location of Orange Gate Falls

Bonjour et Ohayōgozaimasu Kirishima. Welcome back to another edition of the Kitsune Report, brought to you by Seongwoo Motors and the Nagatomo Sports Network (NSN). Here at the Kitsune Report it's all about our cherished national team and the sport we love, in text and podcast. So with that said it's time to get grooving for some cup football. However first a word from some sponsors.

Kitsunes are so close to a potential World Cup Qualification, but they still need your support. With two games on the road out of the remaining three, it's now or never. You will be able to experience thechants, good stadium food, home brought entertainment and seek to feel the energyonly felt at a Kitsune match. Not to mention you get to see new and exciting places. We know road matches are hard to win even for the mightiest of teams, which makes your support much more important. Just fly using Air Pacifica, an official partner of the KFA. All flights to the location of an upcoming Kitsune match will have reduce fares so long as you provide a match ticket. Take advantage of this opportunity to fly in comfort and give the Kitsunes the support needed to pull out wins in this increasing dramatic time. With two of the final three games being on the road with that one home game against Turori...we need your help now more than ever, we got this!

Now last time I mentioned that it would be a safe bet to foresee Turori winning every matchup against the bottom three teams in the group. I also mentioned that a Turori slip up would make things easier for the Kitsunes. Surprisingly that already happened last Matchday with a nil-nil draw with Vettrera, in said nation. The Eels defense was able to provide a clean sheet but the offense was unable to produce leading to the favorable result for the Kitsunes.

Now a loss would've been much more preferable but a draw has it's uses for the national team. Say Turori wins the rest of it's matchups as does the Kitsunes. A draw of any kind against Turori would be enough for a instant qualification. The bad news obviously is if this could happen to Turori, it can happen to us as well.

Anyways enough about Turori my guest sitting with me right now if arguably one of the most well known Kitsune players not by choice I may add. Sayo Matsuoka welcome.

SM: Thanks for having me.

KW: Now you had a bye where you did not have a friendly so we can finally have a quick chat. So while we are on the topic of friendlies we can speak about last friendly and also a little bit about your career in Armeia.

SM: Eh do we really have to?

KW: Is there a problem?

SM: No but every time I speak there is a tantrum and a wave of unwanted attention, however since something major recently happen...I guess I'll make an exception.

KW: Thank You

SM: Your very welcome

KW: So last time you faced Bianka, she scored in the ninth minute and the stadia blew up after she shouted towards your bench. What happened.

SM: Well since this is a casual forum I will be a bit more well casual...It was simply her being immature and unprofessional once again. She scored and showed off brought the rest of my team involved and for what? To get sent off with a red and put her team in a position to lose. She may count that as a win but the score says otherwise.

KW: I see, speaking of Armeia your contract with AFC Center City is set to expire and the team has not performed as good as some may have thought. Any ideas as to your course of action?

SM: You know I like playing for AFC Center City, Loftus is a nice city and is the closet place in Armeia that reminds me of home. I have friend that was my first encounter with anyone from Armeia and she is a fan of the team. When I get lonely or bored and I want to socialize I know that she will be there for me. The fans they are great they have fun and whatever other say about how Hawks United run the city. Poppycock..I love that word by the way. HU is not in town and so what if they come into town and beat us. I shake it off learn from what happened and keep it in mind for other matchups.

KW: Sounds like you are happy where you are huh?

SM: Well I am always opening to a move it's a mentality you pick up if you are from a small village like Enrika. However one thing is for sure, next season I will still be in WD1 I mean I already get under the skin of B.S and Hojo will make things so much fun.

KW: Thanks for spending some time with me today Sayo

SM: No problem this format means less camera anyways and is a good rallying stage for the Kitsunes.

KW: Thanks, have a good flight and good luck in the final stages of Qualification.

Union of American Democrats III v Flardania(Kirishima) Match Preview:
With the slip up Turori the stage is set for the Kitsunes to reach out and grab nice positioning. A win here will give nice momentum before they return home to face Turori. The Kitsunes will be facing an unranked squad in Union of American Democrats III that we defeated 3-1 at home on MD 5. UD3 has yet to win a match and are certainly hungry. There is three keys to an expected Kitsune win. Fans, our game, and flexibility. The fans need to be out in full force, the Kitsunes need to play it's brand of Hojo/Defense containment with offensive scoring and flexibility to any unforseen events. With this done we can win and set the stage for a historic blockbuster match in Heiwa. Lets Go Kitsunes!

Carialus Clairon
Electrumite Blog Sparks Outrage

Carialus defeated Chiata 2-1, putting the Comrades ahead of them in Group 9. There was partying long into the night. However, as the citizens awoke the next, an article by an Electrumite blog was plastered across internet news cites. The blog, called The Turnip, claimed Carialus and other nations were worse than Gregoryisgodistan. The terrible blog cited corrupt democracy and rampant capitalism among other things as key reasons. Clearly, The Turnip doesn't know a carrot about Carialus. Anyone who knows any basic information knows Carialus is gloriously communist. Calling Carialus a corrupt democracy is completely false, which tells you a bit about the blog. Every Carialite contributes to the state and, in turn, the state provides protection, employment, and contentment. All industry is nationalized, the opposite of the capitalism the false blog claimed. Carialites are what make Carialus.

Perhaps we should question The Turnip as a credible news source? Clearly, they tried to slander a nation they know nothing about. They stated Carialus was worse than Gregoryisgodistan. Apparently, they prefer legal slavery, nuclear strikes, untold millions of humans dead, and brainwashing of citizens. Well, from a nation with a metal alloy as a name, what is there to expect?

OOC: I'm actually probably going to finish Young Volcanoes and AA for the CoH and work on something about Hawks...
Dirty South, Part One

That night, it was four years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday. I left home, with nothing but the clothes on my back, a backpack, and a couple travel bags filled with my belongings. The weather was fitting, rain pouring down as I got off the ferry from Barrier Island and sat at the train station in Vorsaa, waiting for the train that would take me to my new home, Loftus, or more specifically, the district of Scarborough.

I'm wearing a black Voltage sweatshirt and a pair of cargo pants, the hood of the sweatshirt thankfully keeping my hair dry in this downpour. I get a text from my brother, asking me if I got to the station safely, and I send back a reply reassuring him that I'm fine. If only I actually was as fine as I said I was.

Let's start from the beginning, my name is Reina Toure. I'm the younger sister of Milan Toure, the Armeian football star. Like him, our super religious parents threw me out of the house because I chose to have a footballing career instead of going to a Catholic college like they wanted me to. I was only sixteen at the time, Milan was nineteen and he had a couple seasons at Atlas under his belt by now. So when I received an offer to sign for Hawks United, the greatest women's team in our country, which was also owned by Atlas, of course I accepted it and decided it was worth leaving home early for.

I'm less confident now that I'm actually sitting in the rain away from home, leaving all my friends and all my family other than Milan, just for a job offer that may or may not even pan out in the end. There's no turning back, though. I made this choice, now I have to live with it. For better or for worse.

I'm pulled away from what I was thinking about when I hear the train coming, the sound of the horn piercing the night air. It pulls into the station slowly, the noise of the engine awaking the few who were sleeping around me. It's a metal beast, that train is, with the smell of exhaust, diesel exhaust to be specific, filling the air and the dim lights at the station reflecting off the white finish of the train chassis. It was almost a surreal moment for me, because I knew what getting on this train would mean for my future.

“Are you okay, little girl?” asks someone, an older man who I identify as a business traveler because of his clothing, which is way too upscale for anyone from Vorsaa. Figures, with how large and important Loftus is, there's always business travelers heading there from every part of the country. “You've got a thousand yard stare going, you look like you just came off the front lines.”

“No, I'm fine,” I say quickly, shaking my head. “Thanks for asking though…”

The train doors open and I shake my head again, like it's going to help me pull my head out the clouds, and I step onto the train, finding my seat by the window in the coach section. I could hardly afford a ticket in this section, let alone in first class. “Now departing from Vorsaa. Next stop, Everville,” reads the monotone voice of the driver. Or maybe it's not the driver, maybe it's a robot. I can't quite tell. Either way, the train doors close and we slowly begin to move.

As the speed of the train picks up, so does my heart. I had my chance to turn back, but now I'm stuck with my choice, and that scares me. But my body is tired even though my mind is racing, it's been a long day that was stressful both physically and emotionally. I want to sleep, so I rest my head back and do just that.

I wake up to find that we’ve already stopped at Everville, and I also realize that there's someone sitting next to me. It's a girl who looks the same age as me, but that's about where our similarities end. She's blonde, with light blue eyes, and she's dressed in head to toe with black. Her short cut hair contrasts with my long light brown tresses, and she has a different look to her, like she's the coolest one in the room.

“Stop staring,” the girl says, scaring the shit out of me and putting me at a loss for words. I absentmindedly run a hand through my hair, something I do when I'm nervous.

“I'm sorry,” I mutter, looking down.

“I'm just joking,” the other girl laughs, a wide grin spreading across her face. As I calm down and force a laugh, I notice that her black track jacket has a silver Hawks United logo on it. I wonder if she's heading to Loftus for a game, considering how soon it is until the start of the season. “My name’s Tyra, Tyra Halloway. Remember the name now, you'll be hearing it a lot in the next few years if things go my way.”

“I'm Reina… Toure,” I reply, before wanting to kick myself for being so awkward. “Are you headed to Loftus, like me?”

Tyra nods, smiling again. “Scarborough. I just signed for Hawks, I’m moving in with the Hawks II players. And you?”

“Me too,” I say, surprised at the coincidence. “My parents, they kind of kicked me out, so I'm moving in a bit sooner than I expected. My brother plays for Atlas, so-”

Tyra’s eyes widened and she looked me up and down twice, making me squirm. “Woah, you said your last name is Toure, right? You're Milan’s sister? No way!”

“Yeah, that's me,” I chuckle, blushing a little. “They say it had nothing to do with signing me, I don't know if I believe that.”

“I should've recognized you,” Tyra laughed, her confident smile returning. “Even though you two don't exactly look alike.”

“He gets his looks from our mother’s side and I get mine from our father’s side,” I shrug. It's pretty easy to see that in all of our family photos. Thinking back on my parents, I miss them already. They might be bigoted and overly forceful about religion, but they’re still my parents, and going away from them feels… Unnatural. I feel like a little kid running away, who’s going to stop as soon as she reaches the end of her parent’s driveway and turn around. I decide to change the subject, I don’t really feel like talking about my parents. “Where are you from? Everville? Have you ever been to Loftus before?”

“I’m from Everville, but Loftus is my home away from hell,” Tyra says, pointing towards the Hawks logo on her track jacket. “I’m the youngest of a bunch of kids, my parents never cared if I ran off to Loftus for a weekend.”

“Heh, I wish my parents were like yours,” I sigh, remembering how strict they could be about me traveling. “They’d freak if I left the city… I’m from Cruz Blanca, by the way.”

“Huh, you don’t look like a fundie,” Tyra remarks, checking me out again. “Then again, I had a teammate from West BC in Everville who wasn’t anything like you’d think a Barrier Islander is like.”

“My parents are religious, I’m not,” I quickly say. I don’t want her to get the wrong idea about me or anything. “That’s actually why I got kicked out.”

“My folks are the same way, they just don’t know me enough to know that I’m not religious,” chuckles Tyra. “The perks of being the one kid that everyone forgets about. Doesn’t bother me, to be honest. They’ll wish they paid more attention to me when I’m playing on Friday nights and they’re stuck in boring Everville.”

The train pulls into the station in the bustling city of Loftus, the skyline of the Central district towering over us. Loftus is everything someone could want in a city, an agglomeration of the Central district, the East district, and Scarborough, a formerly independent city of four million people. It’s a lot of neighborhoods and one neighborhood at the same time, one block making a large difference in the architecture and language.

They say crossing from Central Loftus to Scarborough is like crossing from France into England, because of how culturally different the two are, and it’s even clear when looking at the styles of buildings or just the people who live there. Above it all is the NavArmeia Tower, the tallest building in the city, looming over everything like a shining example of the economic power that Loftus has over the rest of the country. The outside is glass but a large spire rises from the top, and it looks like it’s made out of concrete, which is fitting for a place like Loftus where concrete can be seen more than glass.

Me and Tyra get off the train as it stops at the platform, and we find ourselves in the nation’s largest train station, the Central Loftus Station. There’s business travelers of every race and ethnicity, and from every part of the country. When we go away from the tracks and head to the main part of the station, I’m pretty amazed by the sheer size of the place. It’s massive, made out of stone and concrete, but mostly stone. How did they even build this?

“Woah,” I gasp before stopping to look around, making Tyra laugh and take me by the arm, so I don’t get separated by the large crowd.

I’ve never been in a crowd like this before, I want to stop and take everything in but Tyra is pulling me through until we arrive outside, on the sidewalk at a busy Loftus street. I can’t help but notice how… Manmade everything is here, as opposed to Barrier City, where plants are factored into city planning. Here there isn’t a plant in sight, but it doesn’t look bad, just different. The noises are different too. I thought BC was loud, but it’s nothing compared to Loftus. There’s the sounds of car horns, there’s construction work being done, I can hear sirens in the distance. In Barrier City there might be one loud noise at a time, but here there’s tons of noises and they all manage to be heard at the same time.

There's a mix of different smells too, ranging from exhaust from all the cars to the night rain that's falling to the smell of freshly made street food from the overpriced vendors selling to tourists across the street.

“You alright? You look lost in thought,” Tyra says, but before I can reply she pushes away from me and runs to the curb, shoving someone else out of the way to wave down an approaching taxi. The taxi doesn't stop, opting to pick up a tourist instead, and Tyra curses and walks back to me, visibly miffed. “Sorry ‘bout that, getting taxis to stop in Loftus is kind of hard.”

“I see,” I mutter, watching others struggle to get taxis to pull over. “And I'm fine, I've just never seen something like this before.”

Tyra grins, sliding an arm around my shoulder as we walk to the bus stop down the street, realizing that it's quicker to take a bus to Scarborough than it is to find a taxi. “Welcome to Loftus, Reina. The center of everything.”

And it really does feel like that, like this place is the center of everything, and even in the rain in the early hours of the morning, before the sun has come up proper, the area feels less like a city and more like a living breathing thing. I love it.

parliament pushes through trade sanctions against the greg regime
little opposition is heard as both houses of the new parliament pass trade sanctions in voice votes

Georgetown — Not a peep was heard in Georgetown as both chambers of Parliament passed trade sanctions against so-called “Gregoryisgodistan” into law in voice voices. The right-controlled House of Representatives confirmed amends made by the left-controlled House of Councillors with just one dissenting voice heard and a division thwarted due to lack of members calling for one, sending the bill to President Anatarea Mahana for promulgation.

Financial and travel sanctions against the leadership of the Greg regime, originally suggested by former Prime Minister Staci Laurent (Socialist – Sassari et Martecabras), were taken up and expedited through the lower house by the newly confirmed Liberal-National coalition government and received approval in a voice vote last week. The upper house, where the government lacks a majority, similarly expedited the bill, making minor amendments along the way, and passed the bill in a voice vote just as the lower house did. The House of Representatives confirmed all of the amendments without debate, sending the bill off to the President’s desk for the formality of promulgation.

“Thank you to everyone who has made this bill possible,” Prime Minister John Holst (Liberal – Pembroke) told the lower house after the amendments were confirmed. “And thank you to the Opposition for all of your cooperation and your constructive criticism that has helped improve this bill dramatically. I look forward to reaching across the Table of the House throughout the rest of this Parliament and working with the Opposition to help better this country.”

“I will say this on behalf of every parliamentarian: we will not be silenced,” recently-elected Leader of the Opposition William Rainier (Socialist – Carlisle Little) told Parliament. “We will not be intimidated and we will not be scared by a despicable and paranoid regime. All members of Parliament have the duty to stand up for truth and see to it that justice is done for all, no matter who tries to stop us.”

Speaker of the House Ray Hale (Liberal – Appleban Kingsfort) had to remind MPs several times throughout the session to hold applause, which is banned in the chambers of Parliament, but otherwise, the sitting was marked by a respectful atmosphere not often see within the halls of Commonwealth House.

The bill is almost certain to draw the ire of the Greg regime, which has put nations on its so-called “Enemies List” for such minor slights as voicing criticism of the despotic state. Placement allegedly allows subjects of the regime to kill citizens of the listed states without punishment by the regime and requires states to submit to the regime’s cult of personality to be purged from the list. The Justice Ministry, however, has stated that murder prosecutions will be conducted for all victims of malicious homicide, regardless of if the victim is a national of a listed state.

Despite the bluster of the Greg regime and the perceived risks of enacting formal sanctions, the bill nonetheless has broad approval throughout the Commonwealth, with UCN polls indicating that 84% view sanctions on the Greg regime favourably and that fewer than a quarter of Omericans are fearful of their safety with the new sanctions in place.

The most blunted criticism came from a far-left Electrumite blog known as The Turnip, which accused Omerica of “provoking and antagonising [the Greg regime] in an effort to start a war” and “pulling wool over the eyes of their citizens who don't really know that they are in fact living in a situation which is equal to, or worse than in [the so-called] Gregoryisgodistan.” However, it has met with swift criticism and mockery online, with #StupidTurnips trending online in the last day.

President Anatarea Mahana is expected to sign the bill in a ceremony in the Old Confederation House tomorrow afternoon. The sanctions go into effect immediately upon their promulgation.

Giant Bird Strikes Again!

Milake Blunder Costs Jungle Cats against Lymantatia

Image

Alikki-Corra, Vilita :: With the disappointment of having wasted their opportunity to climb back into the Automatic Qualification race behind them, the Jungle Cats returned home to Alikki-Corra to prepare for their re-match with Lymantatia.

Of course, famously there was no real first match with Lymantatia, as the Lymantatia squad failed to show up and the Giant Bird reeled its ugly head.

While the shock of the events in Lymantatia did help turn the Jungle Cats fortunes, as Vilita have not lost since that fateful day in Avian Hell, the quick return to form perhaps left Vilitan's overlooking some obvious technical details.

First of all, despite being the mastermind behind the Giant Lymantatian Bird's re-appearance, no one thought to add Lokri Pederson to the Non-Admission list to either A) Vilitan Football Matches; B) The Tropics of Vilita or C) Atlantian Oceania in general. Second of all, despite failing to score a goal against Polkopia, the Vilitan coaching staff of Ritopa Simafela and Ricata Amakra decided to show 'support' for their starting duo Kiliko Riazen and Berali Tzufarei. The starting duo for the match against Polkopia was back standing right behind netminder Zelkki Milake in the tunnel as part of the starting 11.

It is likely the former error that would haunt Simafela's men on this sunny day at the Tivali-Ring Stadium, however.

Unlike the match in Avian Hell, there were plenty of fans in the stands at the the Tivali-Ring Stadium. Unfortunately for the Jungle Cats qualification chances, one of those 'so-called' fans was the bird man himself, Lokri Pederson, formerly of the Icemark. With no players on the field representing Lymantatia, and the Vilitan players ready to kick off the match, the Referee; Roentgenio Elodioso of Farfadillis, appeared ready to call the match as a forfeiture in favor of the home side - the logical thing to do.

Then, it happened. Overhead, something was hovering over the stadium. It was the giant bird. With the Icemark's Lokri Pederson now standing in the aisle way directing and calling to the Bird, the last remaining pride of Lymantatia flew in to once again inflict its wrath on the Vilitan National Team. With his native Icemark dissolved, Mr. Pederson hopped over the railings and presented Elodioso with his Lymantatian paperwork. Somehow, Pederson convinced his striped compatriot that he was there to represent the interests of the lands of Lymantatia, and that this Giant Bird would be contesting the match on behalf of the Equatorian Founders.

Pederson then waves his hand at the bird which nestled into its nest, occupying nearly the full frame of the goal.

Elodioso blew the whistle to kick off the match but the Vilitan's didn't touch the ball. They huddled on the sideline as the coaching staff decided on the best course of action.

They laid out some ground rules.

1) Don't kick the ball out of play
2) Don't go offside, all passes in the attacking half must be backward passes
3) Don't touch the ball with your hand

Basically, any infraction that would cause possesion to be granted in a dead ball situation to the opposing side was outlawed. Having won the toss, Simafela knew there was a good chance they would only have 45 minutes to get on the scoreboard. Any mistake would cost the team dearly.

The real trick for Tzufarei and Riazen was that there was barely a ball sized opening in either corner of the net that was not occupied by the bird, who had clearly grown in size even since the previous meeting on Matchday 4.

Still somewhat afraid of the bird, the players were reluctant to get too close. However, shooting from long distances would increase the odds of something going wrong and the ball missing completely resulting in a dead ball to Lymantatia.

For 15 minutes, the two players took turns trying to pick out the spot. Then it happened. Tzufarei's attempt to squeeze the ball between the back and tail of the Giant Bird resulted in the unthinkable. It struck a bone or scale-like protrustion on the birds back and flew high up into the air. The other 9 Vilitan players - even netminder Milake, were standing along the end line to protect against the ball going out of play, and quickly attempted to prevent the ball going out. Quick thinking from Milake nearly saved the day as he yelled "Form a table" to Monner Vileai and used the Tropicorp FC defender's back as a platform to leap across the end line, palming the ball out of the air and back into play.

At first, the Vilitan players celebrated, then they realized, the out-of-position Milake was counted as a field player for the Jungle Cats, despite the fact he was inside the 18 yard box - it was the opponents 18 yard box, and the Farfamanian referee Elodioso blew his whistle.

While it was just a whistle for a simple infraction - and a yellow card for Milake, it effectively whistled the end of the game for the Jungle Cats. It was a calm, windless day in Alikki-Corra. The ball was never going to move. The Jungle Cats had lost.

As the remaining 70+ minutes progressed, a feeling of regret was in the air, as the players realized that the moment that had cost them the game, didn't even need to happen. They hadn't been factoring in the fact that referee Elodioso had officially recognized the Giant Lymantatian bird as a member of the Lymantatia squad. With Tzufarei's shot riccocheting of the bird's back, had the ball simply been allowed to go out of play, it would likely have resulted in a simple corner kick for the Jungle Cats, not a change of possession.

With that knowledge, the Jungle Cats could have freely peppered the bird - and while it likely would have gotten agitated and perhaps even made a charge at some of the players, even Mr. Pederson likely couldn't restrain it for too long. It would have moved. They would have been able to score.

Instead, the mistake resulted in a change of possession. Possession the Jungle Cats would never regain. The Giant Bird had done it again, and while Vilita did record its second consecutive clean sheet, the man credited to it, Zelkki Milake, was perhaps the one who in the end cost them the win, not the one who saved it.

Immediately following the match, Mr. Pederson was asked to leave the premises, asked to leave the country, asked to leave the region. Mr. Pederson had been asked to go back to Equatoria and never return, along with his Lymantatian colleagues. Only time would tell if those requests would be honored.

POST MATCH INTERVIEWS:

Goalkeeper Zelkki Milake

"There really isn't much to say" Milake said when questioned, "I screwed up. We all screwed up. We thought we had to keep the ball from going out at all costs. Those were the instructions. Now you guys are telling us we screwed up, so I guess we screwed up. We can't do anything about it now. They federation doesn't have a big history of allowing replays in matches. We should have won both of these games by walkover, but we didn't. We've just got to rebound, win the rest of our matches and hope to qualify through a playoff."

Unnamed VOIA representative

"Lets just say that we've added Mr. Lokri Pedersons name to a list." The VOIA representative noted when asked if there was anything that could be done to prevent recurrances of the events that took place at the Tivali-Ring Stadiu in the future.

"Obviously, we can't really do anything about matches where Vilita is travelling abroad, but, when it comes to events taking place within our borders, we'll be on the lookout." The VOIA representative continued, "Its not like he's doing harm, so we're not going to put lots of energy into tracking or detaining the man. But if its anywhere near time for an important Vilitan sporting event, and we spot the guy trying to enter the Tropics of Vilita, we'll do what we can to stall him or pursuade him to turn around and go back home."

Turori Announce Final Kit Entries

11 Submissions from 6 different sources in Turori Kit search

Football Association of Turori president Mumau Atla-Siioai has announced that a total of 11 different kit designs from 6 different sources have been received by the Matchday 12 deadline for the submission of Kit Designs and Proposals for consideration of the Football Association of Turori to become the new primary kit design for the Island Emirate of Turori's National Team; the Turori Eels.

The 11 different kit designs will now be pitted against each other in an open competition to determine which design will be selected as the new Turori Eels primary kit for any post-World Cup 73 Qualification matches the Turori Eels should contest, be them World Cup Qualification Playoffs, World Cup Finals, Cup of Harmony or Eagle's Cup matches.

The Football Association of Turori has decided to pit each entry, individually against each other, and then will pair the selected primary kit with an appropriate change kit depending on which design is chosen as the primary.

Now, for the first time, the individual entries can be revealed. So as not to unduely influence the selection process, the Football Association of Turori has decided to censor the names of any corporate or national entities associated with each kit design.
Image

- Entry #1

This entry is an abstract design using a hybrid of Turori's classic colors and bold colors; accentuating the Turorian flare design on the front of the shirt. It begins with a base of bold brown from the modern Eelskin collection and instead of traditional marking includes an abstract represntation of the traditional Turorian flare design centrally across the chest.

The design uses a different coloring for each unique piece of fabric as cut, with the sleeves being cut and displayed in Turorian tan, much like the shirts collar, while the kits side panels display in Turorian sky blue to provide a match with the primary flare feature on the chest.

Image

- Entry #2

This entry predictably uses Eelskin Brown as its base and, for the most part sticks with a strong use of the traditional Turorian palette. The Eelskin brown is predominant on the kit with the sleeves, chest and side paneling all simply colored using the Turorian base.

The main design feature on the chest consists of the classic Turorian sky blue and tan colors being utilized in the form of a racing stripe down the right chest portion of the kit under a letter "T". This entry stands out in its unique decision to blend the more classic Turorian palette with a modern incorporation; the neon green representative of Nigel the Eel; which is utilized on the shirts collar as well as some accent lines across the shoulders.

Image

- Entry #3

This entry departs from tradition using Turorian Tan as its base although overall it remains strictly rooted in the use of the traditional Turorian palette. Turorian Tan is the predominant color on the kit with the sleeves, chest and side paneling all sporting the Tan shade. However, the inside of the Kit utilizes Eelskin brown, which is visible as the Eelskin brown sticks out along the bottom trim of the kit

Turorian sky blue is also utilized on the shirts collar as well as some accent lines across the shoulders.

Image

- Entry #4

An ultra conservative entry, this design uses a deeper version of the Turorian bold Eelskin Brown as its base and unblemished chest.

A thin track of Turorian tan piping runs up the side panels and meets up with the Turorian Tan collar. Completing the trifecta of Turorian colors, Turorian sky blue is used on the sleeves and transitioning up through the shoulders to the neckline.

Image

- Entry #5

This entry is notable for its minimal use of Eelskin brown, with the Turorian sky blue forming the kits primary tone and is used across the shirts entire chest area.

A thin track of Eelskin brown piping runs up the side panels and runs in through and around the shirts collar. Turorian tan finishes off the shirts design in the shoulders and sleeves.

Image

- Entry #6

This entry starts with a base of traditional Eelskin brown and displays the Turorian flag on the left chest and a diagonal from left shoulder to right mid chest. The triangular segment from the diagonal to the right shoulder is colored blue with a separator of tan in a very traditional Turorian pallete display. The proposed shorts (not shown) use the trim color to differentiate themselves from the base of the kit.

Along the side panels an imaginary dividing line is drawn as the base of Eelskin brown is replaced by abstract blocks of blue and tan, with the blue panel segments extending around to the back of the shirt. The sleeves retain the Eelskin brown of the kit's base color.

Image

- Entry #7

This entry uses a Turorian sky blue base which provides a strong clash against the traditional Eelskin brown in a form reminiscent of some older Turorian looks. This entry directly displays the Turorian flag on the left chest and a diagonal from left shoulder to right mid chest. The triangular segment from the diagonal to the right shoulder is colored in traditional Eelskin Brown with a separator of tan.

Image

- Entry #8

This entry uses a distinct departure from the traditional Turorian palette utilizing a deep black base. This entry directly displays the Turorian flag on the left chest and a diagonal from left shoulder to right mid chest. The triangular segment from the diagonal to the right shoulder is colored in traditional Eelskin Brown with a separator of tan. The overall look of the kit is notably darkened by the presence of the black base which provides only minimal contrast from the other segments of Eelskin Brown.

Image

- Entry #9

A nostalgic entry, this entry calls back to some of the earliest known designs for the Turorian kit with the sky blue flare design emphasized on a base of Eelskin Brown.

However, the asymmetric design features both Eelskin Brown and Turorian sky blue arms, with each arm being dressed with a cascading pattern of Turorian Tan. The Turorian Tan also adorns the primary section of the kit providing a bold transition between the Eelskin Brown and Turorian sky blue segments of the design.

Image

- Entry #10

The base of this entry consists of alternating horizontal stripes of Eelskin Brown and Turorian sky blue. The transition between the chest and sleeves is emphasized by a thin white separation stripe before the sleeves are filled out using Eelskin Brown.

The Turorian flare design is superimposed across the chest and around the side paneling to the reverse of the kit in a watermark like, asymmetric fashion.

Image

- Entry #11

The base of this entry consists of a solid white design, which, if selected, would be unique in the history of Turorian sporting fashion. The white chest and arms are accentuated by a deep Eelskin pattern running up the side-panels and curling in through the arms up toward the collar, which uses a bold Turorian sky blue to match the undersleeves.

The Turorian flare design is superimposed across in three different locations across in a watermark like, asymmetric fashion.

The 11 official submissions accepted by the Football Association of Turori will now be open to a public selection process whereby the citizens of Turori as well as prominent members of the sporting community and foreign media partners will be allowed to cast their preference for the Turori Eels next kit design. The design that is chosen from the public will be immediately put into production and could be used as early as the final matchday of World Cup 74 qualification, but more likely will be put to use in any post World Cup 74 Qualification matches for the Turori Eels.

Once a primary design is chosen, the Football Association of Turori will continue the process of analyzing the ballots and choosing an appropriate change kit to accompany the primary. Some revision may be necessary depending on the outcome of the initial ballot.

Either way, the days of the Eels playing in their current super-simplistic 100% Eelskin number are certainly numbered. With the Eels performing well, but in no ways memorably in World Cup 74 Qualifications, it is unlikely that anyone will miss or become nostalgic for the Eels current temporary all-Eelskin kits, and as such, no impediments are seen as likely to prevent the Turori National Team from stepping into their new kit designs as soon as possible after the winning submission is revealed.

In order to cast their ballot for the next official kit of the Turori National Team, Turorian Citizens, Prominent Members of the Sporting Community and Foreign Media representatives are invited to visit www.turorinational.tur/eelskit where they will be prompted to validate their eligibility to cast a ballot, then to select one (1) kit design from amongst the eleven (11) submissions as their choice to be the next Turori National Team primary kit.

The final winner shall be selected by the Football Association of Turori by a manner of their choosing. No winner is official until formally declared by the Football Association of Turori. The Football Association of Turori has the right to change the process by which a winning submission is selected at any point.

All submissions have become the property of the Football Association of Turori and the Turori National Team. If a digital entry or physical prototype is submitted by an independent or individual user or concept artist, the design will become the property of the Football Association of Turori and may be reproduced by a vendor of the choosing of the Football Association of Turori. If a digital entry or physical prototype is submitted by a national or corporate entity in the current or future business of sports uniform manufacture and production, submission of a prototype design in no way obligates the Football Association of Turori or the Turori National Team into a contractual agreement with that national or corporate entity for the manufacture or purchase of sporting equipment, apparel or merchandise. However, if referenced design is selected and used by the Football Association of Turori and the Turori National team, then the submitting national or corporate entity will have the first right of negotiation and refusal to produce the final product to be used by the Football Association of Turori and the Turori National team in the World Cup 74 Finals, should they qualify and compete in said event.

Any individual or corporate design entry selected for use or production by the Football Association of Turori and the Turori National Team will result in a prize offering of official Turori National Team merchandise and event ticket vouchers with a value not to exceed T25,000. Any prize offering will be delivered in actual form only, and may not be exchangeable or offerable in the form of Tures or other primary currency.

THE BRINEMOUTH HERALD
SEVENTH STRAIGHT WIN PUTS CORMORANTS IN LINE FOR THE WORLD CUP
by Karin Rietveld
Augusticinia: (4-4-2) Stanic; Wyrzyk (Slavik 62'), Dragic, Filippis, Filipek; van Aggelen (Juarez 80'), Ljungborg (Mathews 56'), Apolostov, Markov (c); Michelakos, Wu
Goals: Michelakos 24', Mathews 90+1'

Nephara: (4-4-2) Ballard; Christener (Griffiths 65'), Ritter, Scharner, Vyntra; Szalai, Kuralay (Lundgren 79'), Ashdown (c), Vesper; Covenant (Bottlegreen 72'), Amokachi
Goals: Amokachi 47', Szalai 52', Ritter 66', Bottlegreen 76'

It might not have been the most straightforward of victories, but it was enough in the end - 4-2 away wins both here and in Omerica mean that Nephara is finally on track to go through the group in pole position. While the Imperials were ahead through the first half thanks to a bullet header from Michelakos, the Cormorants utterly destroyed them in the second with four goals from four different scorers. A late Mathews screamer looked good, but didn't affect the outcome.

Due to a couple of inconvenient yellow card accumulations, Riether was forced to shuffle her pack a little - Kieran Ritter replacing the indispensable Calliope Katskalidis and Marijana Kuralay starting in place of Tanith Rainsford. Still, it was as strong a side as she could name, and with no room to slip up, the Nepharim attempted to do a professional job of it. The early stages were tight, however, almost suffocated as Augusticinia attempted to sit back, park the bus and control possession. The game was agonisingly slow, and it was taking its toll on the impetuous Cormorants. Kuralay, ironically, got herself suspended for the next game by annihilating Ljungborg while the referee was less than impressed when Scharner made an example of Wu just outside the box.

Still, for all of the ball the Imperials had (and it was 62% by this stage) the goal came almost out of nothing - not to devalue it, as it was very well-worked. What seemed like an eon of dull, aimless passing had the effect of dragging the Cormorants' defence away from the dangerous captain, Markov, out on the left. Apolostov turned suddenly and passed it over, Christener saw the danger too late, slid in and missed and Markov's deadly cross was headed home by Michelakos - planned to perfection. Nephara tried to find their way back into the game, but they were lost. Every time they picked up momentum, the Imperials just had the ball again, and it just felt as though things were bound for tragedy.

They weren't. Two minutes into the second half, Ashdown threaded a ball past the Augusticinian defence, Amokachi dropped off the last man's shoulder and stabbed the ball into the net. And that, evidently, was all it took as the floodgates opened wide. Szalai's direct diagonal run that took him through three Imperials before sidefooting past Stanic put the Nepharim ahead, while Kieran Ritter flicked Ashdown's corner into the net for the third goal. For the second game running, Bottlegreen (this time playing up front) managed a goal, chipping Stanic from just outside the box four minutes after coming on.

It wasn't quite the end of things, as in injury time Mathews took the ball from a seemingly innocuous position and blazed a thunderbolt into the top corner, Ballard helpless at full stretch. But it was never going to be enough, even though a wrestling match broke out over the ball (Scharner was in no mood to let them hurry up with the kick-off), and Nephara's win showed plenty of grit and energy. Just as importantly, Holly Jonasson oversaw her first win as Abanhfleft manager... in Omerica, which finally puts it all back in Nepharim hands. Beat Braxil and Yosmar, and the World Cup beckons. On this form - seven straight wins, sixteen goals in the past five games - is it really in doubt that they will?

THE ROZELLE OBSERVER
Patriots Edge Ill-Tempered Reapers To Take Second
by Karena Fife
BRENECIA M Woodgate; S Given, O Faulkner, A Scrivener, J Collingwood (G Duffy 59'); C Blackslate, L Paterson (C Gryphon 78'), C Purrington; S Trevelyan, U Rankin, N Thatcher (R Carroll 81')
Goals: Blackslate 13', Thatcher 64'

ROYAL KINGDOM OF QUEBEC O Cech; D Miller, L Dunford, H M Jeong (D P Ruperi 57'), K Varsteeg; H van Robben, P M Schneiderlin, F Beauchemin (A Shin 50'), X Hertel; L Conavacio, Z Fortin (A Gelinas 78')
Goal: Gelinas 86'

Already qualified and unbeaten, Quebec had little reason besides pride to stretch themselves against a Patriots side desperate to win. Annoyingly, they didn't, and gave the match everything - but Brenecia triumphed anyway, in front of their own fans. A well-worked goal early on for Blackslate gave Brenecia the first-half advantage, and they weathered the storm in the second and ultimately managed a second through Thatcher. Quebec were always likely to score, and Woodgate's clean sheet was finally broken late on by substitute Gelinas, but the Patriots clung on for their fourth successive victory.

Sasha Bale switched things up a little - Lilith Paterson came into the midfield and Anaximander Scrivener slotted into defence alongside Faulkner, each a more physical and aggressive counterpart than the player each (Gryphon and Duguid) replaced. The dynamic Naphtali Thatcher also made a surprise start over Roisin Carroll, who struggled to get time and space on the ball in the reverse fixture - a move which would pay dividends.

The first half was enthralling - before the cynicism and weariness caught up - and Cech made a wonderful save with his feet to deny Rankin in a one-on-one in just the third minute. But while Brenecia seemed to struggle to get the final ball in, Quebec had the technical quality to ask serious questions of the Brenecian defence and Woodgate had to make a couple of fantastic saves of his own, from Hertel and Fortin, to keep the scores level. They wouldn't stay that way for long, though - in a rare spell of possession, Purrington found Trevelyan on the right who managed to turn Varsteeg inside out before cutting back a perfect ball to meet the run of Cathy Blackslate, who powered a shot home. It took a heavy deflection off Jeong to stop Cech getting to it as the ball trickled agonisingly into the net. It might not have been pretty, but they all counted.

The Reapers had most of the chances for the rest of the second half but Woodgate's excellent form held. So did his luck - Fortin hit a post with staggering force from a shot just inside the box - and there was a sigh of relief around the stadium when half-time was called and Brenecia had a 1-0 advantage to hold to. Still, the switches were working out. Thatcher had caused Miller plenty of troubles (Miller had dominated Carroll in Quebec) while Paterson and Scrivener were getting right up in the faces of their opponents, holding the line and keeping firm.

The second half was more even in terms of flow, and the Patriots regained their confidence and started to spray the ball around the pitch, Purrington given a special licence as the spare woman in midfield. And it was her pass, lofted the perfect place to slice Jeong and Varsteeg open, that found Trevelyan and gave him acres of space, which he used to fire a low cross at the far post. Who should drift in but Naphtali Thatcher, smashing the ball into the net with consummate ease, and Quebec's unbeaten record was in jeopardy.

They fought to recover it - hard. Woodgate made another few good saves as Scrivener and Faulkner desperately held the line, and after a scrappy corner Given had to clear the ball off the line. But the addition of Shin had lent speed to the Quebecois midfield and, later, so did throwing on the fresh legs of Angelo Gelinas. His first touch of the game was a deadly low shot that missed the goal by inches, and he was a constant force. Scrivener and Faulkner had to draw their attention away from Conavacio, who was doing just about everything in the book to try and taunt them, to hold firm against the new threat. Ultimately, they weren't able to - Hazel van Robben nutmegged Gerry Duffy and raced to the byline a split second before the ball crossed it, clipping a masterful cross in at the near post. Gelinas ghosted into the pocket of space to flick a header past Woodgate, beaten at last. Game on?

Well, yes, but in the event the Brenecians held on - and the last shot of the game was theirs, as Catherine Purrington found space just outside the box and forced Cech into a sprawling save. Dunford cleared powerfully out to the wings but there was no time for Quebecois to complete a potentially dangerous counterattack as the referee blew the final whistle, sending Brenecian fans into raptures. From ineffectual bottlers at the halfway mark of the campaign, the Patriots had made it back to being heroes, and will surely travel to the Alamunnic States (beaten 5-0 at home) in the highest of spirits. Keep this form up and the playoffs will be theirs - and their opponents might well be less than pleased to see them.

”They’ll blame me. Oh, god, they’ll blame me.”

I’m well aware that the gesture is more comical than effective, yet I refuse to remove the towel that is thrown over my head as the movie in my mind is set on a looped replay. All was well, two goals in the lead with ample time left, our minds started to wander to the upcoming fixture against Greater Watford. Pinuyi had been better than Kynystan, but only barely. After their surprising opening goal, they hardly gathered a shot on goal. So, when Ze Mata banged it in corner instead of opting for a simple pass to me, I could still grin over it.

I could say there was an annoying outside curve to the ball and it’s true. I might point to the duo of centre backs that kept me from a clean jump and the images would prove me right. But if you look at it, I simply pushed some air with my fist, leaving the goal wide open for the opposing striker to easily depose his header. And from that point onwards, everything collapsed…

”It’s my fault. I could have changed it but...”

One had to give it to these guys, contrary to our previous opponents they refused to crawl back in a double formation on the goal line. It made it an enjoyable match for any striker pair and for us, it was a moment away from the pressure. The result? One goal each even before half time and once Figuerinho darted a rocket on the board for 3-1, we were as confident as the excited home crowd. The points were in the bag, the gap on The Sarian down to two points with an extra game left…

It all started with a majestic pass by Amarinho. Even if some would point to the miles ran and natural leadership of Edison Joao to spot a star player of these qualifiers, it are the brilliant touches of the Gorfalle Town midfielder that determine more than often the difference between us and the opponent. And this was a brilliant example of his prowess, cutting the back four from Pinuyi in shreds with one gentle touch. All time, all space but for some reason, I felt like dribbling that goalie. I could have passed it and it would always have been a goal but no… I went wide. Too wide.

”I’ve fucked it up. Finally a chance in the starting team and then...”

It started like a dream. Well, not for Luis and of course, you never wish anything negative on a teammate but when he returned from the warm-up with a grimace, I already knew this would be my first start at Sao Pedro. And as it looks now, possibly my last one as well.

During those last few minutes, they suddenly came from all directions. Every control over the game we had had disappeared like snow for the sun and the lack of confidence in all our passes was notable till the outer ring. But mine was just… Chingala had given it a bit shabby, a little pit in the grass there, possibly. Nonetheless, there was time enough for a long haul upfield for our strikers, nothing to worry about. Yet, I control it and search for a solution over the ground. By the time the realisation that there are none left, they’re all over me. I panic and try turning around for a pass to Landa Landa but… Too late.

”The press will eat me for breakfast.”

It’s a strange that that is the first that strikes my mind as I walk into the dressing room. You’re able to cut the silence in pieces and sell it as a delicacy in the big city, it seems. Heads down, glances trying to avoid one another. Remarkably, the same sentiment was shared by the whole crowd, too baffled to start booing their boys who just have thrown the hot seat for the second spot out of the window. Everyone just kept staring to what they had witnessed while the cheers from the small minority of Pinuyi present reverberated awkwardly against the walls.

We had it in hands and we gave it away. I gave it away. Arrogance, just that one vice of which I try to keep the lads away, was what killed me. If you’re two goals up, you just have to content yourself with a boring last twenty minutes and cash the three points. But I decided to save Edison Joao, who hinted a bit to his back, for Kubunga. Excellent kid, great talent but… It was as if I directed a bazooka to our balance. There was a little less negative press, a little… A little too much of everything.

”The press should eat me for breakfast.”

It’s a strange realisation but it hits me like a full-speed truck. I can’t afford guys whose confidence has drained with the rainwater as we’ll need every single one of them to make it, so I speak up.

”There is no one to blame here but me, guys. We should have walked out with three points here but I made the wrong decisions. We can let this shit mess up our heads but there’s no need for that. What I have seen tonight is that, if I do my job, we’ve got the class and capacities to go to Greater Watford and come home with a victory. Are we perfect yet? No, but we’ve got a few more weeks to prepare and those weeks start tonight…”

International Football: World Cup Qualifying

Politics---News---Finance---Health---Sports---Tech---Travel---Food

In a disappointing away game versus Sameba, the Gators have been knocked out of World Cup Qualifying. An early first half lead ensured the home side stayed ahead despite Kenyon Rios' double late in the second half. Of course, many will be criticizing Gerold Klempner specifically as he scored Sameba's third goal by dropping a routine catch into the net off of a weak cross. It will be a hard one to live down, especially after the team realized they had been knocked out of the competition.

There is not much to say on the game. It was straightforward, no special attacks, no fancy goals. It looked more like a sunday league game rather than an international World Cup Qualifier. This is of course only on Walkany's side of things. Sameba on the other hand had dominated the game, controlling possession, and having the majority of shots. It is a wonder that Rios even got the ball down at the other end for all of the defending that the Gators did. Many of the fans after the game were in an uproar about the quality of thew away side, many chanting "we are nothing, we're not gators." On social media, a fan poll was even began to determine the fate of Adam Adama as his performances in the second half of Qualifiers have been less than satisfactory. We join that very man now in the post match press conference.

Reporter (who also happens to be a hardcore Walkany fan): What happened out there? Last time, you guys made an upset.

"It's hard to say. We prepared. The coaches did their jobs. The players practiced well. When we got out there though, they did not perform. As an experienced manager, I think I can say that this was at the fault of the players. They did not do their jobs. Gerold Klempner made a large mistake that I cannot believe would even happen for a player at his level. The defense just fell apart! Embarrassing! I am very, very angry with them. I suppose they got it into their heads that because we won last time that we would win again, but that is not the case. Now we're out though so we can't fix anything."

Reporter: Will there be any lineup changes for the Pasarga game?

"No. Most of the subs just aren't ready for that level of a game. I hope the starters are prepared, but I cannot say. This week, we will not take any shortcuts. None. This will ensure that the players are ready by next Saturday to fight for a win. Anyone who believes we'll be going easy on them because we have been knocked out of the Qualifiers needs to be checked. Now, it is time for the players to show their grit."

Reporter: With such a mixed bag of performances, despite what you said before, will the N.A.W.F. keep you?

"As far as I know, yes. Perhaps they will ask me what I think should happen. Maybe they will ask me to step down from my position. I don't care. All I'm focused on is the game against Pasarga. That is my goal right now, to defeat the number one ranked team. I don't care about much else aside from my family and the team."

The Gators play their final Qualifier match next Saturday against number one ranked Pasarga at home. Buy your tickets before they're all out!

World Cup 74: The Perfect Finish
by Kitty Smith, editor-in-chief

As a celebration of the Suns 40 years, World Cup 74 could not have been more perfect. It started with a win at Northport, the sacred heart of Barunian football that nurtured the team in their first campaign during the dark days of the civil war.

Win after win followed, with only a single late loss breaking the momentum. Now it all sits on a knife edge, with a last game decider.

Flash back 10 cycles, to World Cup 64. The Suns had made a remarkable fight into second place, but the play-offs all hinged on the final game against Hutt River. On that occasion, the legendary Victor Castolo scored two late goals to bring the Suns back from defeat to a stunning 2-3 victory.

Now, they were in the same situation, only this time instant qualification was on offer. If the first game of the tournament had represented the early days of Barunia's footballing history, then the decider match against Krytenia certainly represented its present.

For one thing, the game will be played in the nation's capital, a fitting and symbolic home for the Suns. The people of Barunia have found a home for their national team in their hearts and minds. Thus it is only fitting that the Suns' home ground should be in the nation's heart. A colosseum, Suns stadium represents modern Barunian football, large, state-of-the-art, and fit for the greatest teams in the world. There are few more great teams then Krytenia, a team that once dominated the sport on a global scale. As the Suns face off against the former world champions, it will be as the higher ranked side. This is the present of Barunian football. The SUns time is now, and they have reached a point where a nation's name or rank no longer strikes fear into their hearts.

That is the story of World Cup 74, and it also the story of the Suns. From humble but successful beginnings in a small but historic stadium to taking on the biggest names in the multiverse with confidence in a 100,000-seater, it all comes down to the last game of qualifiers.

All they need now is another Victor Castolo.

Méng Keeps Kandorith In The Race

Eodor 1–2 Kandorith

Group 17 Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Semarland 11 9 1 1 30 9 +21 28
2 Ficiscia 10 8 0 2 28 16 +12 24
3 Kandorith 10 5 3 2 18 10 +8 18
4 Eshan 10 4 1 5 11 13 −2 13
5 Quakmybush 11 3 1 7 14 24 −10 10
6 Eodor 10 2 0 8 13 27 −14 6
7 Greater Rashland 10 1 2 7 8 23 −15 5

Almost like a fairy tale, The legendary substitute worked for Huangzhou. As the match against Eodor seemed to end in a draw, there was one more trick they hadn't tried yet in the very close match. In the last minutes of the game Huangzhou decided to get Méng on the field. It didn't even take three minutes for him to get in position, get the ball and score the winning goal for Kandorith. With the wonder substitute, the Kandorese team now looks completely back in shape and ready to take on the next match against Greater Rashland. The team should not be a problem for Kandorith, especially not in the home venue.

Although the Kandorese fans will of course be cheering for Kandorith to win the match as they should, but most eyes will also keep an eye on the other match; one which will be shown in the stadium itself too. Semarland will face Ficiscia at home. Semarland has to beat Ficiscia, which the Kandorese supporters hope without any goals against, to keep Kandorith in the race for the play-offs. With these two crucial matches being played at the same time, the tension and pressure is immense. For Kandorith all the stars must align and if they do, they will have a shot at still making it to the play-offs. If Kandorith manages to stay in the race for the number two spot, the last day will be the deciding factor. Kandorith will face Ficiscia in their home venue. Which if Kandorith manages, will be the perfect victory. Whereas a defeat would just hurt more. Although this is ahead. The focus now is the match against Greater Rashland, a must win match and on paper an easy win. There previous meeting was an undeserved draw for the Kandorese team, which was anything but inspiring. This time they will face Kandorith at home, revived and revitalized. The Red Dragons are ready for the next assault on the pitch. Kandorith has set her eyes on the play-offs.

Dear Prof. Lascaruso,

Little was likely to match the breathless excitement with which we all met the discovery of The Creation of Ursines, and I regret to say that the last few days have been comparatively anticlimactic.

On the footballing front, the last few results have at least left our fate in our hands; thanks to a game in hand over the ursines, and superior goal difference over Schottia, two wins in our final two matches should see us clutch at a qualification that has proven to be far more difficult than our team's international ranking might suggest. Still, Mr Tzimisces has emphasised that we cannot afford to be complacent against New Gelderland, and has had us practicing... I believe the term is 'dribbling', which does sound rather unfortunate.

I did say when we were invited to represent the Empire that archaeologists might not prove to be the most efficient footballers, but HEFA were most insistent - and I admit the opportunity to undertake some fully funded field research in Ordinary Reality was an offer I could hardly turn down.

Little of note has happened on the research front since my last message.

We did try to engage the representatives of Whovian Tardisia in a conversation about the long friendship between their people and the Kaleds, as evidenced by the Kaled Mk III Travel Machines we had discovered adjacent to Arcadia, and that had clearly fallen in defence of the latter city (more details can be found in my earlier letter written after the away match). The only response was to stare at us silently, with some of the visitors making a rotating motion with their index finger in the vicinity of their right ear. I am told by those more in the know about Mundy body language that, depending on the culture involved, this potentially means one of the following:

1) Yes, I am fully in agreement with you.
2) I greatly enjoy having sexual intercourse with your sister.
3) Your fly is undone.
4) I have suspicions that you might be slightly unhinged.
5) Would you perhaps like to have sexual intercourse with my sister.
6) The souffle is delightful.
7) This is clearly an ecumenical matter.
8.) I am of the opinion that you have sexual intercourse with your own sister.
9) I am exceedingly lonely
10) The great god Thargor shall mete his dread vengeance upon thee.

I am unclear in which of the latter senses the particular hand motion was being used by the Tardisians, and suggest that the best solution is for us to apply for a generous research grant which merges archaeological research with a more sociological approach that merges studies of the ancient with the contemporary.

Sincerely Yours,

Prof. Joseph Ducaso, BA, MA, PhD, FISA
