First Official 7ball Tournament [IC]

WELCOME to the First and possibly only Official NS SPORTS 7BALL TOURNAMENT!

What is 7ball? Well, check out this dispatch I wrote, which contains the rules, regulations, scoring, and likely anything you'll need to know about 7ball. This part of the rules contains a much more simplified version of the game, as well as a notable lack of 7s (if you read the main part of the dispatch you'll know what I'm talking about).

ALL matches will be held in Drawkland, at Heptad Honors Arena, which is Drawkland's only dedicated 7ball stadium, and the home stadium for the Drawkland 7s.

Since there's only 14 of us and there's no seeding and I've had some time on my hands, groups have already been determined:

SCORINATION WILL BEGIN ON SATURDAY THE 10th. Cutoff times will be at approximately 21:00-21:30 EST, and results will likely be posted within 15 minutes.

As per the usual NS Sports paradigm, the tournament will begin with a Round Robin tournament, with 2 groups of 7 and 1 leg, meaning every team will play every other team once. There are no draws, so the standings will be arranged by Wins, then by Set Diff, Sets Won, HtH points, HtH set diff, then HtH set for.

RPs, also per usual, will be rated on a scale of 1-5 and then applied. There won't be any decay since this isn't a big tournament. Really, I'm not expecting much. If anyone besides me and maybe Xhay RP, I'll be extremely pleasantly surprised.

Best 4 teams from each group will compete in the tournament. It will all be single elimination, except for the losing semifinalists, who will compete in a 3rd-place match. 3rd Place will be decided by a single match, while the Championship will be a Best of 7. Unless a disproportionate amount of RP'ing happens, 3 Matches will be scorinated per night for the Finals.

The Drawkland 7s have a history of being a decent 7ball team. Their training is world-class, as per most of Drawkian National teams, but due to this being an international competition, it's predicted they'll do only a passing job, as all of Drawkland's national teams have been plagued with mediocrity in the world stage.

While Drawkland does make sure their players are of maximum and athleticism and quick thinking, they do still fall slightly flat in Sonnel competitions, especially when compared to the Backwards Nations, which invented the sport. It seems their players, while more lacking in athletic skill, have a sort of insane ingenuity to their strategy which sets them above most other nations.

The Dnalkward 7s are one of the greatest 7ball teams in all of Sonnel, and indeed, the world. The Drawkian heritage (since Dnalkward came from Drawkland) is evident in that they created most of the minutia and strategy relating to the game and its rules, when the sport was first being invented and played. It seems their players, while more lacking in athletic skill, have a sort of insane ingenuity to their strategy which sets them above most other nations.

As you may see, all the players' names are the names of the Drawkian players, reversed. This is common for Backwards Nations, especially Dnalkward.

The Xedanian 7s are relatively new to the sport. Though they are confident that they'll do good, they don't expect a solid win, as they know just having fun and learning a new sport is really what they're here for. They plan to try their hardest to dominate at this sport, but at the same time not throw a fit when they lose (like a lot of athletes from the city of Bilox). They've created a believably cunning strategy that they will try their first match, improvising when things go amiss.

The Ethane sports council, seeing the creation of this new sport released in the news, has decided that it would be in Ethane's interests to enter a national team into this sport. While the funding will be limited, as the success of the sport cannot be gauged before any matches have even been played, the team will be playing their best to try to take home a victory, in a new sport, that has been unheard of in Ethane before today. The team will be playing with passion and vigilance, aiming high, as the immeasurable thirst for success for Ethane still continues, and this team wishes to be the team to fulfill the first Ethanian victory in a tournament internationally.

The Courage have one their first game of 7Ball without even training! 7Ball is a sport where you try to get 7 points. Silvacometopia Courage are now the third best team in group 1, and will continue to play for the rest of the season.

The Lord of 7 has rewarded us for the glorious decision to play 7ball and has made us win against the people of Xhayparia! So much did 7 like our playing that 7 made us play for a long time, playing 12 sets which is okay. It would not have been okay to play 8 sets, or 13, as those are numbers that are imperfect and evil! It would, of course, be perfect to play 7 games. Or 14. But then the last one would not be played to 7, and that is not as glorious! The 7s have fought well, but we do suspect that our Poleman 7 is not a true 7 but a player placed in our glorious team to promote... an entertainment place because her movements on the goal 7 are too good to be the hockey player she claims to be. Our magic that we had casted to 7 has shown us the way to victory and The Lord Of 7 has lead our minds and our ball to the victory despite the mean movements of our opponents who have tried to steal my stick! Glory to 7, for 7 is the best number and the number of our Lord the Saviour who made us in the Hospitals of Ficiscia, the 7's nation even if they do not want to know about it! Glory to the 7!

The Xedanian 7s have gone through an amazing turn of events in this 7ball tournament! After only two matches, the Xedanian 7s have reached the top of Group 2 in this round-robin tournament, with a total of 6 points and two wins. Talking with the Head Coach of the Xedanian 7s, Earl Oskinhower, after the game, he had this to say: "I would have to thank the stellar strategy we came up with before the first matchday. Making the Captain 7 stand in the middle of the Regular 7, Side 7, Flank 7, and Boring 7 was a great move in the playbooks." Then he and the other team staff rounded up the players and took them out to eat after dumping Landon Cross and Coy Miller into a large bucket of Falconade.

"Another game went by. In the books it went in as a win, but in our minds ... it didn't.

"I don't know what happened. But the Rannoire 7s took us straight to 7et 12 ... if they'd won that last one, it would've gone to the final 7et, which goes to 17 instead of 7. And judging by the state of my team's mind, I don't know if we would've made it. But one thing's for sure, we all owe that match to Romeo Dean.

"In 7et 7, our main Poleman 7, Finn Beemer, got slammed into the pole by the Rannoire 7s' Flank 7. He got absolutely slammed, and he was out cold. When he woke up, all he could do was babble about the number 8. Now, I'm not one of those 7 fanatics, but even I gotta admit an 8 addiction is no good. Now, our Director of 7s, Greggy Adrian, almost shot Finn with an actual gun (shaped like a 7), until good ol' Chaz Vito stepped in. Of course, that's sort of Greggy- I mean, Mr. Adrian's job. He has to do his best to keep the team as purely 7 as possible, to make sure that the supposed 7 deities would look upon our team with favor in the competition. We'd imported him from our corresponding Backwards Nation, Dnalkward, since they're the purest 7 out there. And he does his job mostly well. But we kinda draw the line at murder.

"Anyway, Romeo Dean was subbed in for the next 5 7ets. And of course, his Poleman pole technique was not nearly as hot or impressive as Finn's, but, he'd have to do. However, his blocking was on point. In fact, I'm convinced we would've lost the 8th 7et if it weren't for him. And that all leads down to the 12th 7et, or the final one, although we didn't know it at the time.

"We scored 6 quick points in the beginning of the 7et, and it was looking good. But 7 times in a row, our shots were blocked by the skilled Goalman and Poleman 7s of Rannoire. And then the Rannoire 7s brought in 3 drives that absolutely pounded us. Loreto Macy had to sub out with Kam Jasso, because Loreto got knocked down so hard. And then it happened - Rannoire brought a drive in to us in the center. They broke through our defense, heading straight for Romeo's pole. Romeo got down from his pole dance and into defending position, as the Side 7 got in perfect position to gain a rebound if Captain 7 of Rannoire missed. And the break for the set (it had taken awhile) was going to be up soon, and Rannoire would get the ball, putting them in prime position to take the 7et from us. But lo and behold, the shot was made. Romeo braced his foot on the Goal7post, and leaped into the air. He didn't just block the shot, no, he straight slammed it in the other direction like a spiking volleyball player, and shot it straight to the ground, when it bounced off the ground right into the hands of Geraldo Madison. And Madison, seeing opportunity and being in the open, went straight across to Rannoire's Poleman 7, shoved the Poleman 7, clambered up the Goal7post, and dunked the 7ball hard into the goal, giving us the final goal of the game.

"Without Romeo's quick and kickass move, I doubt we'd have one this match. But thanks to him, we did. I'm thinking with a bit of training from some stripper, he could improve his poledance technique and become a top-notch starting Poleman 7, perhaps even for the Drawkland 7s someday."

It is common superstition that saying the word “seven” is bad luck at a craps table. Players refer to the number seven as “it”. Some players may even refer to seven as “the devil”.

It is considered equally bad luck if the stickman gives a player dice with a total of seven face up.

As the supreme leader of Pachsum: Namecap walks off into the locker rooms to freshen up with his totally not sponsored backwards deodorant, which totally does not make you smell like a dog and provides a variety of non confirmed health issues.

After Namecap has freshened up, he turns around to return to field, not realizing that the game was still going on. Namecap began walking in the labrynth that was the locker room, trapped for what seemed like days of endless turn after turn. In reality, Namecap had just been walking around in circles around the same group of lockers. Namecap came to a stop, and as he was about to give up and collapse on the floor he saw the exit. "Sulsu" the sign read. Being illiterate, Namecap had no idea what this meant and entered.

The Rannoire 7's have finally won!
News goes on in **Rannorian News Network** that the Rannoire 7's have won their first match out of three.
Here is an interview with the captain and the boring 7.
Captain:
"Well, I really think we pulled it off this game. Our heads weren't really in the game in the first two matches, so I hope we can continue playing well."
Boring:
(He puts away his phone while standing) "Uh... whuh? I almost completed this level on- wait, what?! We lost two games?! Huh, better get my game on, and by that I mean I'll go on the bench while the backup plays for me... Gotta get that level..."

The Xedanian 7s have lost their first game in the tournament. News spreads around Xedania as newspapers and TV networks proclaim their first loss.

In a conversation with the starter Goalman 7, he notes that "Part of the reason we lost is that first 7et in the game. The Sulsu 7s had an excellent strategy that the Xedanian 7s couldn't topple. We had to go trough 8 7ets, and we only got all 7 points on the 5th one. Though the Sulsu 7s do act a bit... odd, at times, it does make sense that they would beat us. They are from Sonnel, where 7ball began." The Head Captain also had a few words to say, however they mostly boiled down to "we need to rethink our strategy before our next game".

''My name is Adam Sevenson, and I will be joining this '7 at 7' today to provide some critical information on the tournament.''

''Let's all give a large round of 7's to Adam for joining us today, he is truly welcomed whenever he may want to visit us on '7 at 7'. So, 2 games down, hows it looking for us Adam?''

''Yes, well we are in a strong position at the moment Stevie, it seems like Margaret and the 7 god's have blessed us with eternal wins so far. Looking at that first day, a remarkable win we had there. We won the first 2 rounds, but then went on to lose the next two rounds. However, our team were not to be disheartened by the levelling of 7's, and won 5 7's on the bounce to beat Qoronia 7 rounds to 2.''

''So, what would you call that? A magnitude 7 earthquake in terms of power for the Ethane team going into this tournament?''

''Yes, that does seem about right. A strong performance on that first day does leave us in great stead to go on to win in this tournament. Our success is highly surprising considering most of these players have never even heard of this sport before, but we'll go along with it.''

''What about game 2? How far across the Seven Seas has this game got us in terms of progression in this tournament?''

''Well, Stevie, we are certainly in a good position after the performance put in for that match as well. A much closer game, that is for sure, but in terms of showing our capability of winning this tournament, we sure put ourselves out there as title contenders. Courage certainly had some courage when it came to their performance on the pitch, but they did not have the 7 gods on their side. They put in a steadfast performance, but were incapable of breaking down our superior team, who dominated most of the earlier and later stages of the game. A good springboard for our 7 dreams, that's to say.''

''What do you think is the Ethane 7's biggest challenge?''

''By far, that would have to be Drawkland. They effectively created this sport, they know the ins and outs of it, they know all the rules and everything. They are by far the more superior team when it comes to the knowledge of the game. We just have to hope that we can outperform them fitness wise on the day. We are still bound to get through though.''

''Thank you. Ok, so overall, out of 7, what do you think of Ethane's performance so far, and what do you think of Ethane's chances in this tournament?''

''Well, in terms of performance so far, it has to be a 7/7 for that, a solid 7. In terms of chances, also a 7. Goodnight everyone thank you for having me, don't let the 7 bugs bite tonight.''
