Welcome to Yurope; the Old World. A continent of ancient cultures risen into great modern nations. The year is 1936 CE and humanity has advanced beyond all recognition; electricity is now harnessed as a source of power and the sheer forces of nature itself are being turned to human endeavour. But as ever with the rise of great nations comes the rising threat of war; much of Yurope is controlled by small, weak nations, blessed with natural resources and ripe for the plucking. The great nations look outward with jealous eyes and dream of what could be theirs; a new Yuman Empire perhaps, spanning the Mediterranean and Western Yurope; or perhaps the rebirth of the Holy Yuman Empire of Charlemagne. Who can say? Only time will tell, and war, war never changes.

With the recent expansion of other large empires or states around the Mediterranean sea the Byzantine Emperor John the ninth has decided to send representatives to the new bigger countries around the known world. The diplomats sent out were instructed to open up negotiate peace treaties and trade agreements among the Byzantine Empire and the other states. Special orders were given to the diplomats going to the following countries:

The Khanate Of Khazaria
Republic of Florance
The special message was to potentially form a trade bloc of nations to limit tariffs on goods and services going to and from each member state. The move would hopefully help expand trading opportunities between the member states.

Another Diplomat given a special message is the one sent to the government of the Saratogan Republic. The special message is to come to some sort of agreement on a set price on Tariffs passing to The Khanate Of Khazaria. The move would give each country a sizable income for transporting goods to and from the country.

Coronation of King Andrew IV
Today marks the coronation of King Andrew IV, King of Durham, Lord-Protector of Cumbria and York, 17th Monarch of Durham since its formation in 1653 following the English Civil War and Patriarch of the Anglican Church. He succeeds his father William II who died last week at the age of 76 and continues the House of Lambton which has held the throne since 1843 when it passed in to the family through marriage from the previous House of Percy. The new King is the youngest to ascend to the throne in the history of the nation at the age of just 39 and was crowned by the Archbishop of York in a grand ceremony at the Cathedral of Durham.

The coronation comes at a vital turning point in the Kingdom's history, with domestic and foreign policy becoming increasingly geared towards the re-establishment of the Kingdom of England and a United Kingdom of Albion, King Andrew IV could be the first monarch of Durham to see his kingdom rebuild the nation left fractured by the English Civil Wars some three centuries prior. Attempts at reunification have been made in the past leading to the Three Month War with the Commonwealth of Mercia and Grand Duchy of Anglia to the south; however such efforts have been frustrated thus far, and though the Kingdom continues to thrive even without control over the agricultural lands of the south there is still a strong sense of national unity and recognition as English.

Attending the coronation was Llewellyn Argall, Prime Minister of Wales, and James VIII of Scotland. Both Scotland and Wales have long supported Durham's claim to the throne of England but have voiced concerns over the Conservative Party's recent policies of expansion to unite the British Isles under one flag.

Good Times Ahead:
In a press briefing at the Palace today, the Doge of Florence announced that GDP/Capita had risen from $71,000 in 1935, to $73,500, according to economic forecasts made by the Treasury, and the population had grown from 51,750,000 to 52,250,000, according to the Records Office. This economic and population growth will help fund the 'Great Push Forward' and the 'Prosperous Peace Plan' initiatives of the Mozzi Administration.

Treasury Funds to Rise:
The Treasury has reported that last year, Government Revenue was $183.71 Billion, and of this, only $110.23 Billion was expended by the Government, leaving a surplus of $73.49 Billion. The New Administration, under the leadership of Doge Franceso Mozzi, in response to this report have announced that through an increase in taxation, revenue is expected to rise from 5.0% of GDP to 27.5% of GDP, taking the revenue to $1,056.1 Billion. Annual expenditure is set to rise from 60% of revenue to 75% of revenue, allowing for a budget of $792.08 Billion, and a surplus of $264.03 Billion. This surplus will be added to that of the previous year, totalling $337.51 Billion, which is to be placed in reserve, along with all money raised through the sale of Gold and Silver.

The Prime Minister's New Republic Party beat the Isolationist Party to break a 25 year Isolationist Rule over the Republic by less than 1 million votes for the newly-elected Prime Minister. Some of the promises of Ethan Jackson has made on his campaign trail includes a promise to increase the nation GDP/Capita to a guarantee the prosperity of the Saratogan People.

New Leader with big ambitions

The people of Bearia cheer as the National Assembly elected the new leader of the Bearian Union today; Lord Commander Ivan Stroski. He pledged to revive the Bearian economy by investing in infrastructure, agriculture, industry and technological advancement through a 6 year plan.

"Bearian people; Wolven and human alike, have suffered from foreign intervention and meddling in our internal affairs. Bearian Wolven AND humans have been enslaved for centuries by these foreign imperialists! But no longer. We are United! Within the firsts weeks, the lord commander has begun several military reforms including several military exercises that with time should turn Bearia's third rate military into an elite fighting force.

According to the latest news, the Bearian Union has sent out ambassador Viktor Kristov to Florence to discuss further diplomatic proposals and sign the Yuropean Economic Community charter.

The Lord Commander hopes that a non-aggression pact and an economic advisor to help Bearia in its economic reforms can be established.

Constantinople- The byzantine empire has officially opened ties with both the Bearian union and the Republic of Florence. The Imperial senate has agreed to also join the proposed Mediterranean union if the proposed membership of the Saratogain Republic is agreed upon. The Byzantine Empire also agreed to a bilateral Non-Aggression pact between each nation. By joining the proposed Mediterranean union the empire should be able to gain access to other markets and to resources not produced within the empire like silver,seafood and other raw materials. As the central hub nation of the proposed trade union the empire will gain from the trade passing through it's territory. The Emperor John IX has asked to be included into Yuropean Economic Community trade treaty also.

The Great Push Forward: Part I

The new budget has been passed, which has increased the size of government expenditure to seven times that of the previous budget. Cuts have been made to Defence and Law and Order, while large amounts have been dedicated to Foreign Affairs (in light of the Prosperous Peace Plan). The most substantial changes however are the dramatic increases in government spending in areas such as Commerce and Industry, Agriculture, Culture, Infrastructure and Technology, such funding going towards efforts to advance Technology, Infrastructure, Agriculture and National Culture in order to promote faster economic growth and a rise in living standards. Prime Minister Carr Calls for North Sea Alliance
The Prime Minister today called for the formation of a North Sea Alliance, which would build a framework for trade between Durham, Varvia, and Copenhagen as well as allow for the effective policing and protection of the North Sea as a free trading area free from piracy or the depredations of foreign naval forces or privateers. In his traditional Post-Coronation Address the Prime Minister stated that strong historic bonds of culture and race exist between Durham, Varvia, and Copenhagen which should be built upon as a means of ensuring the continued prosperity and growth of these nations. In announcing this new policy the Prime Minister has created something of a furore among Conservative Party MPs and Peers who fear that such an intensive foreign policy shift will draw attention and resources away from the effort to reunite England, however both Liberal and Anglican MPs have supported the move, clearly hoping that fostering strong bonds with nearby nations will give Durham the strength and leverage it needs within the British Isles.

The formal policy as it was announced calls for the establishment and exchange of Embassies and Consulates in Durham, Stavanger, and Copenhagen. In addition the signing of a tripartite Non-Aggression Pact, Defence Pact, Trade Agreement, Extradition Treaty, and Joint Naval Policing of the North Sea have been proposed. Official communiques have been sent to the governments of both Copenhagen and Varvia in the hopes that they will be receptive and cooperative. To use the words of Prime Minister Carr; "Our nations share a common thread of greatness, and a common thread of history. Mr. Mudima is intelligent, charismatic, and forgiving, while Ms. Tariro is well-educated, reserved, and cunning. Together they rule the DPRO with a fair hand, and are working hard to bring stability to the DPRO through the use of peace rather than violence.

Both reside in different wings of the Royal Palace in Andromeda. History of Khazaria
The Khaganate of Khazaria, rolled by Khagan Moses IX ben Hezekiah Bulanid, is a monarchy which has lasted well over 1000 years since the conversion of it to Judaism by Bulan Bulanid in the 8th Century. They survived the angry Tengri neighbours, the Mongols and the Russians, and so have shone through as one of the many great empires of the world. In recent years however, land has been lost to various steppe warlords stylising themselves as Khans, but this is a mockery, as only Khazaria has the significant size and resources to truly be a Khaganate. Khazaria is known to be a good industrial power, mid ranking in the world. It's ports are along the eastern shores of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. Being somewhat isolated, it relies on trade through the Caucasus, Caspian and Black Seas. Samandar, the capital is world famous for its fertile gardens and vineyards along the shores of the Caspian, and large quantities of wine are made there.
The people of Khazaria are predominantly Jewish, making up 80% of the population, with 10% Orthodox, 9% Islamic and 1% Shamanistic. The population is mostly descendants of the old Khazar kings and their servants, but there is a rising amount of non-Khazarian Jews, mostly from countries that discriminate against Judaism.

The Khagan Moses IX ben Hezekiah Bulanid, now 91 having celebrated his birthday recently to much joy across the nation, has agreed to the many reforms and deals proposed by his advisors to help loosen the power of the monarchy and help out the people. He has also chosen his heir, his eldest grandson Moses ben Obadiah Bulanid, known by many across the nation for his devout piety and zealousness, and also his great deal of positiveness. The Khagan said he was going to choose his son, Obadiah ben Moses Bulanid, if not for his passing away from a flu several years ago.

The Khagan has also accepts free trade agreements from various nations, such as the Byzantine Empire and the Republic of Florence. The Khagan asks that the Byzantine Empire help assist them in this matter, and he offers to give the Empire the lands south of Sevastopol and a small enclave of land around the majority Greek city of Feodosia.

Khazarian Artillery About To Commence Fire On Rebel-Held Crimea

Only hours after Operation Horde has commenced, the Khazarian artillery has started opening fire onto rebel warlord positions in eastern Crimea and along the west coast of the Sea of Azov. This is the first stage of the plan to retake Crimea from local warlords, after significant firing, the third and fourth Khazarian infantry will cross the Don and invade from the north, whilst the first and second infantry, supported by the mounted Khazarian Cossacks, will cross the Kerch Straight and attempt to construct defenses and bases for preparation so artillery can safely cross. From then on, the task will be for the third and fourth to progress downwards and take settlements from the warlords, where they will meet with the first and second along with the artillery who have hopefully taken Feodosia, with the help of three light ships which will bombard the rebel forts along the coast, and then progress to Stevastopol where in one sweep, the warlords will be surrounded and escape will be impossible. With luck, the operation will take several weeks, though it is most likely going to take between one to four months.

Please forgive the informality of this letter, but the business of governance and diplomacy must come before the frivolities of ceremonial protocol. I write to you all today with the hope of creating a Mediterranean Union. The purposes of this Union will be:
- To establish a common free trade area between all of the participating nations
- To establish a common fair trade area between all of the participating nations
- To establish a common Mediterranean market of goods and services between all of the participating nations
- To open up the territorial waters of the participating nations to free access for the merchant navies of the participating nations
- To establish a common currency for the Mediterranean Area, which shall beheld in reserve by the participating nations, and which shall be directly convertible to the International Dollar
- To open up negotiations to recognise the territorial ambitions of each participating nation
- To create a multilateral non-aggression pact between all of the participating nations

Naturally, by virtue of this being a proposal, all of the terms are of course, negotiable, but it is the feeling of both myself, and the Senate of the Florentine Republic, that a Mediterranean Union would ensure a peaceful and prosperous era for the Mediterranean Era.

- To provide a bilateral economic link between a member of the proposed Mediterranean Union (that member being the Republic of Florence) and a member of the proposed North Sea Alliance (that member the Kingdom of Durham)
- To adopt a non-aggression pact between our two nations
- To open up negotiations on a possible mutual recognition of the territorial ambitions of our two countries

Naturally, by virtue of this being a proposal, all of the terms are of course, negotiable, but it is the feeling of both myself, and the Senate of the Florentine Republic, that a general treaty between Florence and Durham would be a first step in securing a peaceful and prosperous relationship between our two nations.

The Mercantile Union of Copenhagen

The recently elected Patrician of the Mercantile Union of Copenhagen, Claus Jørgensen, has recently announced the government's desire to form and strengthen diplomatic and economic bonds with fellow Yuropean Nations, in the hopes of preventing war and conflict in the future. Following a meeting of the Council and himself, it has been agreed that the formation of a North Sea Alliance between Durham and Varvia would be mutually beneficial between all parties, and have also formally accepted the arrival of a Saratogan diplomat and construction of an Embassy within the Union.


Due to recent changes in government, the Council and Patrician of the Union would like to formally introduce the Government of the Mercantile Union of Copenhagen once again to the rest of Yurope.

Jonas Abbas sat at his desk. It was made of solid dark wood, and was polished to perfection, reflecting the mid day sun onto the white marble ceiling. Outside his people cheered, reveling in their new found freedom. They were loud, but not loud enough to completely muffle the screams of agony rising from the air vents. Somewhere, far bellow the Palace's floor, the old Anansian leader was facing his fate.

Anansia had been in a constant state of civil war for as long as Abbas could remeber. One dictator would replace the last, before being outed by another even crueler man. Abbas's predecessor had been one link in a chain of power hungry warlords, seeking nothing but their own profit. And, while the thought of riches was quiet appealing, the new self declared president had visions for a new, better Africa.

"Lord President?" Abbas looked up as his top general, Youssef El-Sayed, entered the room, a small envelope in hand. He marched towards Abbas before tossing the letter onto the desk. He saluted, "A letter from The Republic of Saratoga, Lord President."

Jonas Abbas gave the letter a read through, before composing his response. When he was finished, he handed his own message to General El-Sayed, before leaving his office, to address his people for the first time as President.

As my nation is still a young one, I believe it would be in the best interests of my people to take part in a Mediterranean Union, to help build our own economy and create ties with neighboring nations, as well as those farther abroad. I must apologise for the informality of this letter, but it is my belief that efficient government and diplomacy must come before frivolous ceremonial protocols. I am writing today to propose a general treaty between the Florentine Republic and the Bearian Union. This treaty would:

- Establish free and fair trade between Florence and Bearia
- Establish a Non-Aggression Pact between Florence and Bearia
- Send a Florentine Delegation to Bearia to advise upon Bearian economic and industrial reforms
- Send a Bearian Delegation to Florence to advise upon Florentine technological research and development

Byzantine Emperor agrees to marriage offer
Constantinople- The Byzantine Emperor has officially agreed to marry Anat ben Moses, the oldest Grand Daughter of Moses IX ben Hezekiah Bulanid leader of the Khazaria. The Emperor will go through both a eastern orthodox and Jewish marriage ceremonies and the heir will be raised within the eastern Orthodox religion. The Emperor will also allow freedom of religion around the Empire while the Eastern Orthodox will remain the official religion of the Empire with the Emperor as the head.The move will move the two countries closer together.

FLORENCE AND BYZANTIUM SIGN THE TREATY OF FLORENCE!

This afternoon, in the Palazzo della Signoria, His Serenity, the Doge of Florence, and His Excellency, the Byzantine Ambassador to the Florentine Republic, signed the Treaty of Florence. This treaty establishes the Mediterranean Union, with Florence and Byzantium as the founding members, who will each hold veto powers over applications to join the Mediterranean Union. The Mediterranean Union serves the following purposes:

- Establishes free and fair trade between the member states
- Establishes a common market between the member states
- Establishes a non-aggression pact between the member states
- Opens up the territorial waters of the member states to the merchant navies of the member states
- Establishes a Mediterranean Council, comprised of a representative from each state, to oversee the Mediterranean Union
- Establishes a common reserve currency, the Mediterranean Lire (£), which will be valued at the discretion of the Mediterranean Council
- Establishes that the Mediterranean Council has the authority, on behalf of all member states, to recognize the territorial ambitions of the member states

The Khagan Moses IX ben Hezekiah Bulanid, having heard of the news of a Mediterranean Union being formed, and receiving a letter from the Republic of Florence, which was promptly translated into Hebrew, the Khagan agreed after much discussion with his advisors and his twenty three year old grandson, Moses ben Obadiah Bulanid, who is set to become the next Khagan when Moses IX ben Hezekiah Bulanid dies. The Khagan has also decided to take uponi\himself the task of signing the Treaty of Florence, which he will try to do in his advanced old age.

The Khagan requests diplomats to go north to encounter the Bearian State, in the hopes of making a treaty.
Also, the Khagan's tomb in the burial grounds of his ancestors and the rest of the Bulanid line has been finished and is going to soon be decorated with tales of his past and his achievements like his ancestor's tombs.
The 10th anniversary of the victory of the Khazarian invasion of Georgia will soon be upon us, and some squads of police and military will make their way across the Caucasus to reinforce the area and make sure there is no rioting like the last time, when three elderly Rabbi and several Jewish people died and a synagogue was burnt down. There has been increased unrest of the local Orthodox followers, but Rabbis are making progress of converting the locals.

North Sea Alliance Formed Between Durham and Copenhagen

"Prime Minister Carr meets with dignitaries from Copenhagen."

Dignitaries from both Durham and Copenhagen met today in Durham city at the Palatine Palace in Palace Green to formally sign into existence the North Sea Alliance; a full military and trading agreement intended to ensure the prosperity and future growth in influence, wealth, and power of the North Sea nations. It is hoped that representatives from Varvia will join the twelve day summit talks being held in Durham to formalise the agreement to include all of the major North Sea nations. The treaty between Durham and Copenhagen however opens the way for an unprecedented era of peace and free trade across the North Sea, with Durham gaining access to Baltic trade lanes and Copenhagen gaining easier access through to the Atlantic and Irish Sea; as well as granting open exports of Rubber, Oil, Textiles, and Cotton to Copenhagen in exchange for vital supplies of Aluminium.

Treaty Talks With Florence Conclude

The Prime Minister took an hour and a half out fromt he North Sea Alliance talks to formally meet with the Florentine Ambassador and sign into effect the new proposed treaty which was formally accepted by Parliament the day before. The treaty ensures peaceful and friendly relations between the two nations which it is hoped will lead to positive future ties between the North Sea Alliance and the Mediterranean Union. Not only does the treaty help to ensure the continuance of peace but it also gives Durham access to Florentine Gold and Silver markets, while the growing Oil and Rubber exports industry from Durham promise to provide the mercantile Republic with much needed resources.
