Oliva's Apocalypse (Signup and OOC)

This will be the signup and OOC thread to the IC story 'Oliva's Apocalypse'. This is my first full venture into RP in months, so I will be seeking a Co-OP for this thread. While there will be a definite end to this story, anyone who joins this RP is free to continue it on their own either with the same nations or with new nations. If you would like to donate a map or globe of what Oliva would look like, it is optional (just telegram me for a general description). The actual RP won't start until after Thanksgiving, as there will very likely be people traveling next week.

Rules are pretty much same as the general RP rules on NS, but there are additional provisos for this thread:
1 - OP and CO-OP is GOD. Once we rule on a dispute, the matter is settled NO IFS ANDS OR BUTS
2 - Any OOC disputes among players will be brought here so as not to pollute the IC thread with trivial minutiae.
3 - THIS IS NOT A WAR THREAD so don't come into it expecting to get into a war. If you decide to continue the Oliva story as a conflict thread, then it'll be your own thread. I did not set this up as a war thread nor will I accept it being turned into one!
4 - If for whatever reason I am not online at the time of an OOC issue between players, CO-OP is to be treated as God. I WILL STAND BY THEIR DECISION, WHATEVER IT MAY BE. Rule #1 will apply.
5 - "I understand that people have lives outside of NS, so a certain leeway will be granted. HOWEVER, if you are absent longer than 5 days, then your nation will be assumed to have withdrawn.

There will be a signup form available for interested players to fill out in order to be accepted. This thread is specifically for both the Facebook Nations region and the Intergalactic Federacy region, but anyone who likes Future RP, or is new and simply want to present themselves for consideration as a member of my region, Facebook Nations (you will have to check with them, of course) or the IGF (again, check with them first), or who want to work on their diplomatic skill can join.

OOC Nitpick. Here's my problem with the premise:

Three days ago, they witnessed a supernova 5 light-years from the Olivan star-system which for several days brightened their nights brighter than their closest of 12 moons in the Oliva planetary system (the heart of the Republic) and could even be seen during the day as a dim "second sun". No other effects were witnessed and the astronomers simply cataloged the nova in their database and continued their observations. What they didn't yet know was that the star system in which the nova happened contained five planets. The supernova had knocked one of the planets, a Class-D rocky world with no atmosphere, into a new trajectory that would bring it dangerously close to Oliva with a 99.99% possibility of collision. Oliva had few contacts with other nations and independent worlds and with no large ships of its own, it was feared that the end of their civilization was at hand. All the nervous Olivans could do was watch, wait, and pray as the bolide came closer. Now with only three days remaining until impact, Olivans could begin to see the rocky world in their skies. From their perspective, it was the size of Earth's moon as observed from the ground.

If the supernova occurred 5-lightyears away, then no matter how fast the planet's been knocked out of orbit it will not be traveling faster than the speed of light, or c, and therefore it would take 5 years for the planet to get there.

A better plan should be as follows:

Since the planet hurling towards Oliva is a Class-D rocky world, it is most likely the size of your typical terrestrial planet.

Such a planet is quite large, and impact with Oliva is certain to kill anyone on the surface and, at best, render the planet uninhabitable. At worst, Oliva will cease to exist.

Even with 5 years to evacuate, a nation with relatively few large starships will find it difficult to get everyone off the world in time, or at the very least get them off world and avoid having the nation plunge into an economic or social crisis. Especially if there are billions of people on Olivia. The reason, of course, is that even refugee-citizens are hard to process: you have to find room for them; you need to find a way for them to get jobs and to restore their lives to an extent since they've been suddenly uprooted from their previous, doomed home.

Even with epic building times, a nation without large starships in its inventory needs to A. Develop and B. Build them. Both of these takes time, time that usually consists of more than 5 years unless you're jury-rigging stuff and 'winging' safety concerns.

Therefore, the RP is exciting, but its premise is difficult to suspend disbelief. The planet that's hurling towards Oliva has no FTL drive, no means of traveling at speeds greater than c. Even in the case of Praxis in Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country, it wasn't Praxis' remnants that were hurling at the speed of light, it was the residual energy and "subspace shockwave" from the explosion that was traveling at c or FTL speeds.

Supernovae can boot material out at up to 10% of the speed of light, but even if our rogue planet got swept up at maximum speed, the supernova's light would still have been visible 45 years ago. An inconsequential issue, I will grant.

Even at a considerably slower speed, say 1000 km/s, our rogue planet is still screaming along far in excess of orbital speeds, so it isn't implausible that a planet inattentive towards its skies would only notice it a few days before impact. At such a speed, three days out it's a couple of AU away. Depending on size and composition it may appear as a bright planet but will not look like the Moon. At a greater distance it might only be visible through telescopes - and it's almost sure to be discovered telescopically. Questions of mass, speed, and distance will have a bearing on what if any actions can be taken.

An explanation is due as to why the UPT has no proper head of state. In normal circumstances the Preskomos - the national legislative body - elect the Regent. The Regent may call an early re-election of half the members of the Preskomos, otherwise this election happens every few years. The problem now is that after the previous Regent (the King's 9001) was removed, the Preskomos has failed to elect a successor. A few in the Preskomos are happy with this state of affairs and continue to deliberately block any new Regent from being chosen, but it's fair to say the general public are a bit annoyed and embarrassed about the whole business, the Preskomos already having a reputation for being somewhat dysfunctional. With elections upcoming, it's hoped that soon the nation will at last find a new leader.

I just realized something that I should've remembered. In Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Khan explained to Chekov and Terrell how Ceti Alpha V went from a lush Earth-like world to a desert. Ceti Alpha VI had exploded, if I'm not mistaken. The resulting shockwave would've shifted the orbit of Ceti Alpha V and caused all kinds of havoc, of course I could be wrong as I don't watch as much Star Trek as others on here do. Perhaps, instead of a supernova, one of the planets in the system could play the same part as Ceti Alpha VI exploding and sending the rocky world out of its home star-system.

Would this be a more plausible situation to happen? If so, I can ret-con my first post and make the necessary changes.
