Wasn't that a movie about Jesus falling in love with Mary Magdalene?
What? I didn't see any "romantic involvement" in the couple of times I saw the movie.

No.
You've confused The Last Temptation of Christ and The Passion of the Christ.
The first is a Martin Scorsese film that features Jesus dreaming, during the crucifixion, of an alternative life where he married Mary Magdalene; said dream is a deliberate attempt by Satan to tempt Jesus, hence the name of the film.
The second is a Mel Gibson film portraying the final days of Jesus leading up to and including the crucifixion from the perspective of a profoundly conservative Catholic.
What many people forget is that the Last Temptation doesn't actually show Jesus falling in love with Mary Magdelene, but rather being deliberately tempted by a detailed vision of what might have happened had he lived his life as a mortal man.
Other than the fairly heavy whiff of Arianism in the closing scenes of the Last Temptation, in many ways it's a considerably more nuanced and less objectionable film than the very partial torture porn of The Passion of the Christ.

Still the Satan portrayed in Passion was honestly the most interesting character in the movie.

What are you trying to say?
1. I ain't giving up on Christianity just yet.
2. Not even in my darkest nightmares do I see myself as belonging to the group the sort of person that would call themselves "more spiritual than religious" would. Nothing against those people, but I am simply a radically different type of person.
3. Non-Abrahamic spirituality is uninteresting, bland and overall not something worth getting involved in to me as a person. The ideals simply do not click with me.

Couldn't have put it better myself.
One would hope that's why Pope Francis is allowing this circus to occur at the Synod. To expose the liberal cardinals for being heretics.
Hopefully... Hopefully....

It might lead to a renewal of orthodoxy with the Church, once the tensions are resolved.
