Bears Armed

‘The Bear-Belles’

National football organisation: ‘Bears Armed Association for Soccer’ (= ‘BAAS’).
(Chairbear: Urra SunBlesséd [former captain, and then manager, of ‘Bear-Belles’])
National anthem (for sports): ‘The Banner Green And Gold’.
Official supporters' organisation: 'Arri's Furry Army'.

After much debate following the team’s disastrous performance in the qualifiers for WC72, we have chosen exactly the same set of players (less three who, for varying reasons, are no longer available) for this World Cup cycle too: “They broke it, so they should fix it; it would be unfair to expect a new set of players to do so” was the winning argument.
However if they don’t do significantly better this time around then you will see an entirely new line-up for the next Cup… if the Bears don’t just drop out of competition instead.

Yes, it still is an all-female team. As I’ve explained before, this is because the main ball-game that's traditionally been played in Bears Armed is actually a form of Rugby, but [for several reasons] the professional league for that sport is all-male and so some of the female players decided that switching to Soccer — and trying to establish a professional league for that sport for themselves instead — might be a viable alternative: They were right, because that professional league was founded shortly after WC44 and so has now been in operation for well over an eightSquared of years.

All of the players are actual Ursines (i.e. anthropomorpic, bipedal Bears)], except for any whom I actually specify as being members of other ‘peoples’ instead. The Harr'aynau people are physically human (more-or-less, anyway, although inclined towards heavy builds & hairiness), but are spiritually & culturally Ursine instead.

According to Bears Armed’s timeline, the qualifiers for WC73 take place in 2119-2120
AD, and the Cup proper in 2121AD: Add four years to the figures given here for people’s ages and lengths of experience to find the correct values applying in the first of these three years… Sorry, but the lengthy debate about how many of the old team to keep meant that nobody got around to updating this aspect of the press-release in time…
Yes, these dates do still allow for the fact that a ‘time-loop’ meant that as far as Bears Armed was concerned the WC#66 & WC#67 cycles took place “simultaneously”.

Supervising Manager: Urra SunBlesséd [former captain, and then [during a previous period to this] manager of the ‘Bear-Belles’
(female Ursine, from the Sun Clan; played with the Belles from their Baptism of Fire onwards for a lonnng time – with her extended youthfulness eventually explained as being due to her having a TrueBear amongst her grandparents — before she became manager for the first time; called out of her retirement from professional football [during which she’s apparently been a ‘hero’ instead…] for the WC68 cycle in the hope that her guidance combined with the coaching skills of her old friend Ug-Ug will reverse the recent slide in the Belles’ fortunes; fur = honey-blonde, right-pawed)

Assistant Manager (Team) & Chief Coach: Marra SunDaughter*
(female Ursine, from the Sun Clan; played for the 'Sun Valley Smashers' [usual position = Left Forward] for 19 years in total [split into two periods, from most people’s viewpoint, because she was somehow transported forwards in time by several octades!], was the Bear-Belles’ Captain for WC44 as well as WC68-70, and has been a real star player by anybody's standards. Age = 45, left-pawed, fur = golden-brown, good eyesight even by human [rather than Ursine] standards. . An alternative version of her, who has lived through the intervening time normally [apart from being rejuvenated, by a magical accident, on one occasion] had already had a long and quite successful career as this team’s manager.)
(She is also on the team’s roster, as a potential substitute player.)

Deputy Manager (Admin): Arrannna Redsmith
(female Ursine, from the ‘Redsmith’ Free Sept; formerly Deputy Manager of Wimbley Stadiuma; appointed in preparation for the ‘qualifiers’ stage of WC71; her duties include acting as the team’s ‘routemaster’, which means handling all of their travelling arrangements; age = 36, left-pawed, fur = light reddish-brown).

Doctor: Herrath Harrn
(female Brock [i.e. anthropomorphic Badger], from the ‘Brocken Brackh’ nation; age = 52, right-pawed, fur = black & white; hired just before the start of WC65’s qualifiers.)

Physiotherapist: Tierra Smithurrs
(female Ursine, Clan = Redsmith [Free Sept] Kettar-Surra; age = 27, left-pawed, fur = reddish-brown & quite short; hired shortly before the start of WC72’s qualifiiers)

Chaplain, ‘One Plus Seven’: Mirra’a NorthStar
(female Ursine from the ‘Silver-of-Night’ Clan [and from the Northlands]; age = 35, left-pawed, fur = silvery-grey; assigned to this job, by the Great Medicine Society, just before the qualifiers for WC71; qualified as a Shabear and as a Dream-reader .)

Chaplain, Ursion: Jharge Jamms WhiteRose
(male Ursine, from Clan Redwood; age = 41, right-pawed, fur = light brown; formerly a deputy chaplain at National University (Academe), transferred to this post in preparation for the ‘qualifiers’ stage of WC71 after his predecessor here retired; he has a doctorate in Anthropology, from Miervatia University in the [human] nation of Mikitivity.)

Security Chief: Major Sheafh TrayFurr
(male Ursine, from Clan WestWoods; age =29, right-pawed, fur = blond; seconded from the Confederal Army, and has considerable experience of dealing with foreigners; just appointed to this job [with the promotion from Captain] in preparation for the ‘qualifiers’ stage of WC72.)

Caterers: Thorrntown’s Catering.

Roster
After their success in the qualifiers for WC69, the entire same squad was kept (and chose to stay) together for the WC70 cycle and — mostly — the WC71 cycle as well. However some players from that line-up have since been ‘retired’, and have been replaced by younger ones.
(Versions of the three players whose names here are followed by asterisks* were in the Bear-Belles’ original line-up. I explained how they’re now here — and now “now”, too — in my WC#68 RP. All of the other players listed made their international debuts in the qualifiers for WC#68, except where specified otherwise here.)

(#1) Charra o Barrdenn* _ Clan = GreenWoods, home team = 'Barrdenn Barbariennes', 21 years experience of Soccer; age = 43, left-pawed, fur = medium brown, noted for her long reach and calm temperament.
(#13) Urrth’hrra Troutcatcher _ Clan = SeaBear, home team = ‘NorthGate Nomads', category & usual position = Goalkeeper, Soccer experience = 18 years; age = 35, left-pawed, fur = light-medium brown. Very talented, surprises some people by how often she manages to stop shots into “awkward” corners of the net.
(#15) Charrh’lhrra _ Clan = Chargh’ghrurr, home team = ‘Kingly City', category & usual position = Goalkeeper, Soccer experience = 19 years; age = 33, left-pawed/right-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown & relatively long. (this is actually a pair of identical twins… but under “her” clan’s laws such a pair counts as a single person for all legal purposes and therefore can be fielded as a single player!) (There are precedents from earlier World Cups for allowing this arrangement.)

(#2) Charrah’hthrra Oldwood _ Clan = Redwood, home team = ‘Harr Burran Heroines’, category = Defender (or Midfielder), usual position = Left Back (or Midfield Left), Soccer experience = 10 years; age = 25 left-pawed, fur = dark brown. (This is her international debut.)
(#3) Shurranna Ozt’suhl _ Clan = Ozt’suhl [Free Sept, home team = ‘Heroes’ Park Heroines', category = Defender, usual position = Right Back, Soccer experience = 22 years; age = 37, left-pawed, fur = medium-brown, on the tall side even for a [female] Ursine (@ 7’6”).
(#17) Garr’thrrie Garroon _ Clan = Herrchaum, home team = ‘Merlchester Rovers', category = Defender, preferred position = Right Back, Soccer experience = 20 years; age = 37, right-pawed, fur = light brown.

(#14) Marra Fairbearrn _ Clan = Sun, home team = ‘NorthGate Nomads', category = Lynchpin/Midfielder/ Forward/Winger, preferred position = wherever she’s needed, Soccer experience = 9 years; age = 26, either-pawed, fur = white-blonde, very good eyesight even by Human standards, a bit on the small side by Ursine standards (only 6’2” tall) but makes up for this by being very agile 7 quick on her feet; demonstrated tactical ability, too. Now considered to be a potential future Captain… (She made her international debut in the qualifiers for WC71.)
(#20) Harr’Karramarsar Nashtarra _ Clan = Ostbora, home team = ‘Urrvan’s Avengers', category = Lynchpin/Midfielder/ Defender, preferred position = Lynchpin, Soccer experience = 7 years; Harr'aynau human[oid], age = 24, either-pawed, hair = strawberry-blonde, a bit on the tall side (@ 6’3”) for a woman by Human standards but not clumsy or slow on her feet because of this; demonstrated tactical ability, too. A rising star… (This is her international debut.)

(#5) Marra Lightning _ Clan = Gunnar, home team = ‘Newton Arsenal', category = Midfielder, preferred position = Midfield Left, Soccer experience = 20 years; age = 36, left-pawed, fur = light brown.
(#6) Maf’hrarra LightChild _ Clan = Sun, home team = ‘Sun Valley Smashers', category = Midfielder (or Winger), usual position = Midfield Right (or Right Winger) but can also play quite well on the left instead, Soccer experience = 10 years; age = 28, left-pawed, fur = blonde; has definitely improved still further in ability over the last four years.
(#21) Charra Two-Swords _ Clan = Clouded Sun [Free Sept], home team = ‘NorthGate Nomads’, category = Midfielder, preferred position = Midfield Right (but can also play quite well on the left instead), Soccer experience = 5 years; age = 22, right-pawed, fur = strawberry-blonde, good eyesight even by Human standards, more accurate than most are at long-range passes, thinks fast on her feet. (This is her international debut.)

(#7) Mirra Brrightness _ Clan = Sun, home team = ‘Harr Buran Heroines', category = Forward or Winger, usual position = Right Forward (but experienced and capable in any ‘Forward’ or ‘Winger’ role), Soccer experience = 19 years; age = 37, ambidextrous, fur = blonde, good eyesight, very quick on her feet, still very fit despite her chronological age.
(#10) Marra SunDaughter* _ Clan = Sun, home team = 'Sun Valley Smashers', category = Striker, usual position = Left Forward or Centre Forward or Lynchpin, Soccer experience = 24 years experience; age = 45, left-pawed, fur = golden-brown, good eyesight even by human (rather than Ursine) standards. She is the team's Chief Coach and former Captain, is still verry fit despite her age, and has been a real star player by anybody's standards.

(#23) Arrianna Thunderbolt _ Clan = Gunnar, home team = ‘Newton Arsenal', category = Forward, usual position = Left Forward (but also experienced & capable in the other ‘Forward’ roles too), Soccer experience = 8 years; age = 24, left-pawed, fur = dark brown, good eyesight, very fast. A rising star… (She made her international debut in the qualifiers for WC71.)
(#24) Sigg’hrry Hierra’s-daughter_ Clan = SeaBear, home team = ‘NorthPort Navigators' [recently transferred from ‘Kerne Konquerors’], category = Forward, preferred position = Left Forward, Soccer experience = 8 years; mixed ‘Grizzly’ & ‘Polar’ ancestry, age = 23, left-pawed, fur = very light brown, tall [@7’1”) and sturdy but still surprisingly fast [although perhaps not always as agile as would be desirable] anyhows. (This is her international debut.)
(#25) Marshrra o Barrdenn _ Clan = GreenWoods, home team = ‘LakePort Lionesses', category = Forward, preferred position = Centre Forward or Left Forward, Soccer experience = 8 years; age = 22, left-pawed, fur = very dark brown; forecast to become a verrry good player but not really there yet, and probably won’t see much action except maybeso as a substitute in one or two games against low-ranked teams. (This is her international debut.)

(#12) Irranna NorthWalker _ Clan = WildWoods, home team = ‘LakePort Lionesses', category = Winger, usual position = Left Winger, Soccer experience = 10 years; Harr’aynau humanoid, age = 27, left-footed, hair = chestnut.
(#32) _ Mirrath East, Clan = Urrset, home team = ‘Kingly City', category = Winger, preferred position = Right Winger, Soccer experience = 7 years; age = 25, left-pawed, fur = reddish-brown. (This is her international debut.)

(#27) Hierranna o Southwater _ Clan = SnowyPeaks, home team = ‘Merlchester Rovers', category = Winger, preferred position = Left Winger, Soccer experience = 16 years; age = 34, left-pawed, maybeso not quite as [verry] fast on her feet as she used to be but still faster than most and more makes up for that [relative] slowing in increased experience, fur = medium-brown. (She made her international debut in the qualifiers for WC69.)

Usual starters = #1-3, 5-7, #10, #14, #16, #23, #32.
Most likely substitutes = #10 or #17, #13 or 15 (probably swapping over for alternate matches), #20-21, #24-25, #27.

Style: Offensive, modifier = +4.0… ("A good offence is the best defence"...)
Their usual formation will include a front row of at least 5 (normally arranged as 3 strikers & 2 wingers), with 2 midfielders, 2 backs, and either a ‘Defensive Centre’ (whose starting position would be at the midpoint of an imaginary cross drawn between those other four non-forwards’ positions) or a third midfielder depending on the Manager’s decision before each match.

Opponents may _

RP injuries to my players / Godmod injuries to my players / Hand out Yellow cards to my players / Hand out Red cards to my players: Y to all, at least to start with, but remember what I've written here and keep it in limits accordingly... Any serious offences by my players would probably result in injuries to your players, and causing any serious injuries to my players would probably require such obviously-deliberate attacks that your players would get yellow or even red cards as a result too. Don’t kill anybody, or inflict injuries that would be serious enough to end careers, without checking with me & getting my approval (which is unlikely to be granted…) first.
Godmod Other Events: Y, I suppose, at least as long as you do so in an AMUSING way... but please remember that Ursines are fully sapient beings, as much as Humans are, not instinct-driven animals. Oh, and of course female Ursines are not sexually interested in Humans (of either sex), and it's very unlikely that female Harr'ayanau would be either. Please don't have them run amok or outright revert to animality, without checking by TG first, don't make assumptions about their views on politics or religion, and don't do anything that would make more than one of them incapable of playing in their next game...

Kit: This incarnation of the team will normally wear the usual set of designs (from ‘ediraf’) that the Belles have favoured in the past, with the ‘Association’ badges correctly staying ‘BAAS’ rather than [the now obsolete] ‘BAMAS’. See "here" for details.
Bears Armed has traditionally used base-8 arithmetic, for several reasons, and this has affected the set of numbers used for this team’s players: The numbers “22”, and “26” have been left unassigned out of respect for wearers who went to their deaths as heroines during various conflicts. This was formerly the case for “10” as well, but in that case the return to play for [a version of] Marra SunDaughter — who was that number’s original wearer — has seen the return of the number [although probably still just for her use] as well.

Home grounds

1/. Wimbley Stadium:[/b] Located a few miles to the north-north-west of Council Groves (our capital city), to which it is connected by rail as well as by road, this stadium was built from scratch — on part of a former Confederal Army base’s site — shortly before the qualifiers for WC52 began as a replacement for the Bear-Belles original “home” at ‘Plumtrees Park’ which has now been demolished. Its current capacity is approximately 60'000 for Ursines: Fitting about 40’000 humans into the visiting fans' half should be possible, and so that's as many as we'll let into the country. Accommodation for visiting teams & their staffs will be provided in a new hotel, less than a mile away, which has staff who are accustomed to dealing with Humans as well as with Ursines. The various other hotels in that complex and those at Council Groves can now provide about 12’000 rooms at a time, at varying prices, although of course some of those may already have been booked by people who have nothing to do with the Cup. Accommodation (at a fairly basic level) for up to 15’000 supporters will be available, at reasonable prices, in students' residences for the National University’s campus in that city: if any more than all of those facilities put together can house want to attend a match then they’ll have to borrow space in the area’s remaining Army camp instead...
There are still no direct inter-regional flights into Council Groves, so that visitors will have to travel by way of one of our neighbours and then continue onwards by one of the limited number of "local" air-flights or by rail. (People planning to arrive by rail will still have to travel via the nation of Mikitivity, but extra services will be organised on that route...)
This site will be used for most, but not all, of the Belles' home matches. During the first half of WC72’s qualifiers that will be the games against Kumbhalgarh, Garifunya, and Valladares.

2./ ‘NorthLands National Stadium’: Located at NorthPort, the most cosmopolitan city in The Ursine Northlands, this facility was originally built for use by the 'Northbears' WC49’s qualifiers. Unfortunately the place has since seen rather less use than was originally hoped, but it is still in good condition and will hold about 43’000 Ursines or over 60’000 humans (or, of course, proportionate numbers of a mixture of those two species) because it was deliberately built to be rather larger than 'Plumtrees Park' which was then the Mainland's 'national' stadium…
This site will be used for some of the Belles’ home games, at least for the first-leg qualifier against Kernansquillec, and maybeso also for some of their friendlies & matches in other Cups during this period as specified separately.
Foreigners coming to this stadium may either travel to the ‘Mainland’ and then continue hence via a set of ancient [& probably magical] ‘Gates’ that link the country’s two sections — completing their journey by either rail or riverboat after that — or take ship directly to NorthPort.

NOTES

Ursines may tend to be a bit less agile & slower to accelerate than humans on average, but this team's members were carefully selected so the gap between them & their opponents in this respect should be narrower than some people might expect. They do tend to have [slightly] poorer eyesight than humans, on the whole (although the members of both Clan Gunnar and the Sun Clan are generally an exception to this rule, and the eyesight of the latter group is actually often at [slightly] better-than-human levels instead), so long-distance passes & shots at goal will tend to be rarer behaviour for them than they are for human teams... but their typical size & strength mean that when they're running with the ball it will probably take a very brave human — as well as a very skilled one — to tackle them successfully (or, at least, one who has reasonable experience of playing against Ursines…), which should balance that factor pretty well. They don’t jump very well, but then they’re generally rather taller than most Human players to start with so they shouldn’t need to jump as often in order to intercept [relatively] high shots...
Ursines are physically robust, of course, which means that they're much less likely than humans are to suffer injuries in falls or collisions. The females of this species are more even-tempered than the males, and the team's members will try to stay on their best behaviour not only in order to do well in this contest but also to impress upon the watching humans that Ursines aren't just "dumb beasts". They will not 'dive', or feign injury in other ways, because suggesting that they could be harmed so easily goes strongly against the grain. ‘Northlanders’ are maybe not quite as "civilised" as the 'Mainlanders'… or, at any rate, that’s the traditional stereotype..
Cold weather should pose no problem to them, even if there's snow or ice on the pitch, but tropical heat might prove awkward...

Unless our hosts at the match in question object, this team's members (including the designated substitutes for the match in question) will perform a [fairly short] ritual that's called the 'harrdiharr' on the pitch just before play begins... This is a traditional war-dance, meant to over-awe opponents, that has come to be a customary prelude for team games as well (similar to the [RL] New Zealanders' 'haka'...). : )
As has now been seen during various tournaments, some of our fans like to take drums — and possibly also 'Urrs-horns' [which are similar to Alpenhorns, cow-horns, or other "musical instruments", too — along to the matches…

The team is accompanied by a number of sapient Ravens, who are there both to gather information about the rival sides and to provide air cover in case of hostile waterfowl.
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

The Freisan Farf Freitball Francitian hereby presents the Farf roster for the 48th Edition of the AOCAF Cup
Nation Name: The Oulandish Lands of Farfadillis
Demonym: Farf (plural Farves)
Team Nickname: La Vherderoja
Honours: AOCAF Cup 43 and 48 Winners

Kits
Provided by Kirola
Image

Manager
Name: Steffan Pekarik
Age: 58
First Cycle: 69
Record: 62-18-18
Win Percentage: 63%
Description: Pekarik once played for the Terns as a left-back. Well, not once, but a hundred and forty-one times. He managed to get fifteen assists and six goals and even captained his country once. On club level, he played for East Franz Athletic, Urajbina of Kagdazka and Pazhujebu, and then FC Axel Heiburg, winning the Champions' Cup as captain before retiring and going into a coaching role with the club. He later followed manager Morten Rasmussen to the Terns to become assistant manager through all the Terns' final appearances. He's got a preference for defensive football, but here he is managing Farfadillis. Steffan is famously hard on his players if they're found to be guilty of complacency or lazy play, and he drills his players hard on the training pitch. Some Farf players have caused him a couple of headaches as a result, Terán being the worst offender with Mata fast on his trail. He's not afraid of ruffling feathers with popular/lazy/show pony players. He'll take no prisoners, suffer no fools, and allow no airs or graces. Everyone works hard, everyone gets the rewards. That's the philosophy he's been trying to make prevail facing this particularly eccentric national team he's chosen, and he's had certainly... varying degrees of success. Making the team care at all about defense didn't prove fruitful, and he's recently given up on it altogether. He's (almost) fully embraced the Farf way, and he can't argue with the results: they were the only team not to lose to Pasarga last cycle, and they went on to win the AOCAF Cup despite being second seeds.

Assistant Manager
Name: Casper Baek
Age: 51
First Cycle: 69
Description: Casper Baek has been one of the most celebrated one-club-players in recent Valhallan history. Turning out his entire career for FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls until he reached forty and finally retired, Baek has eased naturally into a coaching role, and his vast playing experience will be a valuable resource for any team that employs him. He has a keen eye for man-management, so whenever Pekarik gets angry and shouts at people, it will be Baek who picks them up, dusts them down, and tells them they can do it. Nonetheless, he will be a loyal assistant to Pekarik.

Physiotherapist
Name: Radek Greve
Age: 49
First Cycle: 69
Description: Radek Greve now holds the title of first physiotherapist of the Farf national football team. When Pekarik arrived, he quickly noticed that the FFFF had never appointed someone to take care of the players, and soon put forward Radek's name.

Starters
#1 - GK
Name: Rôhj Tzâín Üjkân
Age: 30
Positions: GK
Team: Image Âlâmëómë Image
Description: The Rulandese heir to Lisdiren's throne. Though Erfaon left a huge hole to be filled, Rôhj's done it more than decently. No, he's not as good as his predecessor, but he's still second-best for best Farf keeper in history. A true one-club man, he's been at Mâ Âlâmëómë all his life, amassing more experience than he could've asked for. Flashy and acrobatic, but not tall, which is often his biggest shortcoming. Used to be his second biggest, though, but he's left his laziness behind in part thanks to a certain new Polarian manager who just wouldn't have any of the nonsense. At least not in excessive amounts. Poor Steffan is still managing Farfadillis, after all.

#2 - LB
Name: Cleto Mata Tarariras
Age: 32
Positions: LB/CB/RB
Team: Image Gwinevra Barbarians Image
Description: Mata's been defending la Vherderoja for more than half his life. He defended a Farf squad while hitting puberty. First the under-fifteens, then the Di Bradini Cup and, finally, the senior squad. It comes as no surprise, therefore, that Cleto's among the Farfest of players in this squad, in spite of being a defender. He's not bad at defending, no, he's actually excellent at it by Farf standards (that is to say, he's good, or at least decent). What's eye-catching, though, is his offensive game. He likes to dribble his way into the opponent's side of the pitch, he's great at creating counterattacks, and he's actually very good at running down the flank and crossing. Sometimes he even surprises defenders by cutting in and adapting to an inside forward role for a few seconds. Pekarik took quite some time to finally warm up to him, but at the end of the day he's opened his mind and accepted that, even though Cleto's different, he's still pretty good. His revolutionary presence in the dressing room is something Steffan's always trying to keep in check, though.

#6 - CB
Name: Ivaktör Mâr Bârr Rîk-Ândré
Age: 30
Positions: CB
Team: Image Northbrook Diamonds Image
Description: Though maybe at the time not many would've predicted it, Ivaktör has turned out to be one of Dí Maozöxê's finest academy products. This is, funnily enough, mostly a result of him leaving the Rulandese team at a very young age. He joined Sunrisian side Darveston City, getting much-appreciated exposure that earned him a call-up to a Di Bradini squad that ended up winning the whole thing. He performed really well in that tournament, one thing led to another and he ended up signing for Northbrook Diamonds. Niko Marek was his teacher there, so things just couldn't go wrong. In fact, they went so not wrong that he ended up a pretty normal player despite his nationality. Bârr's a tall, strong and aggressive defender with an acute understanding of the game. His presence in the box is huge, which was perfectly demonstrated when he scored the title-winning goal for the Diamonds last season. And then he scored in an AOCAF Cup final. He's in the form of his life.

#4 - RB
Name: Drê Tâás Röènôùjýâ Ìrrýbâuzârâ
Age: 24
Positions: LB/LM/RB
Team: Image Violence Chariots Image
Description: Drê started his career playing for Sunrisian team Neuville Scyther's youth team. His performances there earned him a move to Mâ Âlâmëómë back home very quickly. In Farfadillis, he became one of the hottest young prospects in the league. Stringing great performances one after the other for seasons on end. His development has stagnated a bit, though, and many blame his one-dimensionality. He's truly great filling in the role of kamikaze wingback that is so typical of Farf teams, but in his position defending is still important, and he's neglected it after so many years in the FFL. A move to Nepharim team Violence Chariots might set him straight, though. Obviously, he's got the talent, as is evidenced by the fact that Pekarik called him up despite his preference for defensive defenders. Also, don't worry: even Farves have a hard time with his name.

#5 - CM
Name: Yurpá Mêndêlöíndçêl Nüyntâk
Age: 36
Positions: DM/CM
Team: Image Dwile Warriors Image
Description: Yurpá's played literally every game the national team has played. All of them. His caps record will not be beaten, that is guaranteed. He's the one that wears the captain's armband, which should come as no surprise. His timing for challenges is impeccable, and he's got a borderline unhealthy understanding of the game. He's easily one of the most defensively-capable players in the game. No, we don't know what he's doing here. It puzzles us too. Even at the not-exactly-tender age of thirty-five, Yurpá can still run frenziedly all game long. It's beginning to get suspicious, even. He's good like any Farf at the offensive side of the game. He can pass and dribble, though it's not where he shines. His shots are powerful, though, and they can definitely trouble goalkeepers. He's the only Farf player to win the Champions' Cup to this day. This is his last cycle, so he'll be looking to cap his international career as successfully as possible.

#11 - LM
Name: Rübéãn Tôr Rämír
Age: 25
Positions: LM/RM/LW/RW
Team: Image FC Endeavour Image
Description: Tôr is the kind of player that could've started aged twenty if he had been born a tad earlier. However, Fôx and Kâí are two players that just can't be displaced, as is evidenced by the fact that Tôr's now finally a starter without having actually displaced either of them. Rübéãn has got an admirable workrate, even if his defensive skills are decidedly average. He's got stunning technique, and a knack for the unexpected. He likes to play more vertically, so we're likely to see the team trying more through passes with Tôr's presence. He's a bit of a stepdown from Risko, but he is also very different, something the team appreciates as the tactics were getting very much predictable. It's also worth noting that he's fast and pretty ambidextrous, which pretty much doubles how dangerous he is.

#3 - OM
Name: Alex Terán Loya
Age: 33
Positions: CM/OM
Team: Image FC Endeavour Image
Description: Terán is the kind of player Pekarik absolutely hates. He's clueless tactically (like, really, truly clueless), his workrate leaves something to be desired and he rarely takes things seriously. The thing is, he's also a case of natural talent taking a player very far. It's difficult to find someone as unpredictable as Terán. He can single-handedly turn a game around when things are not going well, and make his team play better just by being there. His venturing into the opponent's box is very dangerous, too, as is evidenced by his goalscoring record. Overall a very particular kind of player, and one Pekarik has had a particularly painful time warming up to. He may be getting old, but he's never been reliant on his physique, so it'll be hard to write him off for some time yet. Wínrôuge's will likely be the on to finally displace him, if the Apoxian-based midfielder does not outlast Delafuente, that is. Alex is loved by Endeavour's fans, and it's totally justified, as he's been one of their best players for quite a long time now.

#10 - OM
Name: Matías Delafuente Obrero
Age: 28
Positions: CM/OM
Team: Image Holdenberg Image
Description: La Nueva Avenida are evidently pretty good at producing creative midfielders. Just like Terán, Delafuente is also a Novan youth product, albeit one that left without so much as a game played. He's a different kind of player, though. He's far more one-dimensional. The very reason he's here is his playmaking. He's not particularly good at scoring himself, nor is he very good at defending, but he makes the team's game that much more fluid. His vision and passing are simply unmatched by the other players in the squad. Unlike his Apoxian-based counterpart, he adds a layer of tactical awareness to his game that makes his passes deadlier. If you don't let the ball get to him rather cleanly, he becomes a non-factor, though. Definitely not a walk in the park, though.

#9 - RM
Name: Mâás Jân Fôx Düçélájé
Age: 30
Positions: RM/RW
Team: Image Directus Image
Description: Officially among the twenty-five most influential players in the history of the Euraleague, it's not really hard to see why. Fôx is an attacker so versatile it's just impossible to have a definitive answer to him. He likes to cut in to make the most out of his sharp eye for passes, but he's fast and ambidextrous, so he can just keep running down the flank and crossing if he wishes. What's more, he's also a great set piece taker, really consistent and really strong mentally. However, despite his vast skillset and overall completeness as an attacker, he's got his downsides. He's not good defensively, as you probably could've guessed, and he's always been pretty bad physically. He's gotten better, though! He can now play entire matches! That said, don't expect him to give a hundred percent all match, it's probably not for the best anyway.

#8 - ST
Name: Risko Kâí Tüzá
Age: 32
Positions: LM/LW/ST
Team: Image Âlâmëómë Image
Description: Risko's the best player the national team has to offer at the moment. Many doubted he'd be as valuable as a striker as he was as a midfielder-winger of sorts. As a result, many were wrong: Risko was absolutely instrumental to the team's most recent, successful, AOCAF Cup campaign. His dribbling is on another level, he's really pacey and he's great at finding spaces. His crossing is great, and so is his finishing. He's just deadly at whatever he does, provided it's offensive and not defensive. He's no slouch in defense, though, but now that he's playing as a striker that's a non-factor, anyway. He's not good at jumping or heading, though, so expect the team to cross less than when Dandalleion started. That's fine, though, cause Risko was the one who crossed most of the time anyway, and Tôr doesn't do it nearly as much.

#7 - ST
Name: José Torino Fuego Teixidó
Age: 28
Positions: ST
Team: Image FC Axel Heiburg Image
Description: Brother of Lorenzo Fuego, capped for Farfadillis, and Pablo Fuego, a legend at Farf yo-yo club Tifón De La Costa, José Torino started playing for a lowly-club in the third tier of the Farf pyramid, Flamagu. By the time he left they were in the top flight. After playing for the Flames, he signed for Mytanar club Liria Prizren. But then there was a civil war and that wasn't cool. So he moved to Polarian outfit Axel Heiburg. Cue big freeze. So yeah, domestically, he's not the luckiest guy, but his talent is undeniable. He's got very good dribbling and positioning, as well as clinical finishing. He's become a bit of a terror in the air lately, and his fighting spirit is absolutely commendable. Overall, an extremely capable and complete striker.

Substitutes

#12
Name: Calogero André Metz Lille
Age: 23
Positions: GK
Team: Image Mallox Image
Description: Calogero will, in all likelihood, wear the #1 jersey for Farfadillis at some point in his career. This is a tree in whose shade Pekarik might never sit, but it's still one that needs to be planted. Steffan's evidently got some kind of blind faith, in fact, because Calogero conceded ninety-nine goals not long ago as Deportí Agaumi ended up dead-bottom of the table. Sure, he didn't do badly, but it was a risky call. Cosumarite outfit Mallox have recently shown they think similarly to Steffan.

#23
Name: Ascensión Espiritual Ekvinter González
Age: 29
Positions: GK
Team: Image Avenida Victoria Image
Description: Ekvinter's by all accounts a very good goalkeeper. He's been a vital part of the Victorians' line-up for almost as long as he's been professional. However, Tzâín is simply the superior choice, and there's nothing he can do about it. Nonetheless, the difference in quality is not too big, and a serious dip in form from the Rulandese could see the Faroleran rising up to take his place. It's unlikely, but not impossible. He's been handed number twenty three this time around, which might indicate Metz is higher up the pecking order. No official statement has been made, though.

#14
Name: Leonhard Emanuel Mixé Santomarí
Age: 28
Positions: CB/LB/RB
Team: Image Urbanista Image
Description: Mixé's been working his ass off under the radar for a while now, and it's finally paying dividends. A string of good seasons at Urbanista, who play, if your memory would like to be refreshed, in the best league of the Multiverse, meant Pekarik couldn't just not call him up. Plus, Mixé's a rather typical defender just like Bârr, even if he's a bit of a step-down in quality. He can read the game well and his tackles are usually on-point. He can fill in as fullback (as an actual fullback), which is also very much appreciated.

#21
Name: Thjorgias Archere Pickton Exhaurré
Age: 23
Positions: CB/RB/DM
Team: Image La Nueva Avenida Image
Description: The Farf son of Apoxian Grant Pickton, one of the most influential players in the history of the Farf league. Also, yes, Grant was daft enough to name his son so extravagantly. But anything goes in Farfadillis as far as names are concerned, so he was not relentlessly bullied for it as a kid. His style is somewhere between Ivaktör Bârr's slightly Farf defending and Mata's overzealous Farf defending, and really, at this stage of his development, he could swing either way depending on the kind of coaching he gets. Currently, Pekarik's his defensive influence, while his father, who is also his manager at La Nueva Avenida, is his offensive influence. His tough tackling and surprisingly good technique are something neither of them will beat out of him, though.

#15
Name: Santos José Alaminos Soldado
Age: 34
Positions: LB/CB/RB/RM
Team: Image Jungle Strike Image
Description: Alaminos in his prime was definitely the best defender the team had, but Ivaktör's now definitely better. An unfortunate injury made him miss out on winning the AOCAF Cup. However, he's no stranger to winning it; many Farves will be quick to point out his best game ever was a semifinal against Vilita and Turori, in which he scored a brace to send the team through to the final, which we won. But anyway, Santos is a very good defender with more than decent offensive assets. He's not even close to who he was two years ago, but he's still good enough for the bench. In fact, Röènôùjýâ's place in the starting eleven is not completely safe.

#20
Name: Ruy Alexander Monrazón Dianaslocas
Age: 21
Positions: DM/CM
Team: Image Gwinevra Barbarians Image
Description: A tough tackler with a warrior's spirit and a great understanding of the game, Ruy is the heir to the captain's armband. Absolutely nobody has dared question that. Not Pekarik, not the players, not the fans, not Yurpá, not him. He's a born leader. Outgoing and inspirational. In the very words of one of his teammates: “He leads by example. Maybe he won't ask you to work your socks off, but you will see him putting in so much effort you'll just feel obliged to.” And that's aged twenty. Experience will only mellow him. Recently moved from his beloved Avenida Leal to Apoxian giants Gwinevra Barbarians, where he's expected to excel immediately. If a Boom! Best Young Player award is anything to go by, Ruy's got what is needed.

#16
Name: Ostadar Arambilet Olitzar
Age: 29
Positions: CM
Team: Image Avenida Leal Image
Description: Born and raised in Astograth, son of Gaur Arambilet (so destined for stardom) and originally an Astograthian NTer. What happened? Gaskon Ugarte went all Lord Protector on his people's asses. Ostadar had liked it in Farfadillis after playing for Avenida Leal for a few years, so when he was offered a spot in the national team, he didn't turn down the offer. Unlike what some Polarians might lead you to believe, this is not cause of controversy in Farfadillis. Arambilet is Farf and that's the end of it. He helps keep the defense cohesive and he's very offensively-capable (his long shots are particularly good), mainly because he's been playing in the Farf league for a decade. He excels in neither defense nor offense, but he's still a player few clubs wouldn't want to have. He'll probably be the one who replaces Mêndêlöíndçêl, but competition with Monrazón is stiff. The relationship between them is allegedly very friendly, though, what with playing for the same team until Ruy's move and all.

#13
Name: Iñaki Jair Ibarra Desábato
Age: 25
Positions: RM/RW
Team: Image Avenida Principal Image
Description: Iñaki's debút was just three years ago, aged twenty-one. Libertarian Ferdullaele discovered him because of a one-off nation-wide scouting project. That season, he single-handedly saved them from relegation. After that, he moved to Avenida Principal, the team he supports. There, with his pace, craftiness and consistency, he cemented himself as one of the best players in the league. He plays with a youthful vigour that is hard to match. It is to be expected, though, as he's living the dream. He was a factory worker not long ago, after all.

#19
Name: Fôrté Mâás Wínrôuge Çíânflöné
Age: 20
Positions: OM
Team: Image Âlâmëómë Image
Description: Occasionally, a Farf player appears that is just something completely different. So far, Friekder Dandalleion and Risko Kâí have been the only ones in that list. Now we have the third term of the series, that some started to believe would never show up. Fôrté's workrate's very bad, and he might be the worst player in the world when it comes to tackling, but he's as scary as offensive midfielders come. Vicious and knotty dribbling, defense-splitting passing, a striker's sense of smell and, most importantly, ambidexterity have made this player far too much for defenders in the FFL to handle, even at such a young age. His growth as a player has been stunning, and it doesn't look like it will stop anytime soon.

#22
Name: Rüx Çìró Albuquerque
Age: 18
Positions: LM/LW
Team: Image Neuville Scythers Image
Description: There's been a pretty big shortage of wingers recently, and as a result Jê's got the frankly extremely surprising call-up to the AOCAF Cup squad. He didn't exactly set the world alight in that competition, marring an important penalty and getting sent off in the final. However, Jê's still a winger with staggering pace and dribbling, and a very bright future. He cuts in often, but he's great at just outpacing and crossing too. His workrate is commendable, and his defensive skillset not too shabby. He's got the potential to roughly match Mâás Fôx. He's cursed when it comes to penalties, though. His father was killed because of him missing one in a regional compeyition, when he played for Dí Maozöxê's youth team (hence his move to Neuville Scythers now), and to add insult to injury he missed the decisive penalty against Semarland last U18WC. And the AOCAF Cup penalty mentioned earlier. Probably needs psychiatric help at this point.

#17
Name: Elexhé Renzo Nofzaleiné Tüjâká
Age: 23
Positions: ST
Team: Image Avenida Principal Image
Description: Farf strikers are usually pictured as very pacey. Dandalleion, Roga, Tenian, the Fuego brothers, Dragãozý, Cornelio. Tenian was the slowest out of them, and his explosiveness in the box was still one of the most remarkable aspects of his game. How funny then, that one of Farfadillis' most exciting young strikers is slightly lacking in that department. Yes, his running speed is pretty average, but he more than makes up for that with a first touch that puts even Bârr's rudimentary long passes to sleep, a knack for exploiting bad positioning and some very clinical finishing. He's also a very resourceful striker. He always attempts to pull off unorthodox ways to score when no other options are left, without every worrying about how ridiculous he might end up looking. He often screws up, as you'd expect, but, when he nails it, it's memorable.

#18
Name: Horacio Cornelio Ramos
Age: 34
Positions: ST
Team: Image Molsbik Arkjet Image
Description: Not exactly the best dribbler in the world, Horacio's quickness off the mark and finishing have made him a lethal striker despite his shortcomings. He's not exactly the most cossumate professional either, but sometimes you've got to overlook some things. He's definitely a dependable striker with a scary goalscoring average. Not quite starting eleven material, but there's a reason he was consistently one of the best players in the Farf league before his move to an important Semar club.

Reserves

#34
Name: Lafayette Tifoxé Loiseau-Cousteau
Age: 18
Positions: GK
Team: Image FC Jansberg Image
Description: Lafayette looks set to defend the Farf goal for a long time. He's considerably ahead of the curve in every aspect relevant to goalkeepers. However, he shouldn't expect to get called up - he does depend on injuries and suspensions for that, after all. Great reflexes and positioning, as well as hints of Tzâín's great diving, make him evidently talented. Recently moved to Semar club FC Jansberg, where it is hoped he'll pick up some leadership skills and whatnot. He's certainly lacking in that department.

#33
Name: Salomón Cayfú Martínez
Age: 29
Positions: LB/RB
Team: Image La Nueva Avenida Image
Description: Much like most other Farf fullbacks, Salomón knows how to bomb forward recklessly. Much unlike them, though, he's much more balanced as a whole. He knows how to defend and when not to do it (the answer is not, apparently, all of the time). Once part of a promising generation of Di Bradini Cup winners, it has to be said Cayfú didn't live up to expectations. A proneness for injuries and overall below-average natural fitness hindered his development at crucial points of his career. Still, Salomón's a more than decent choice for fullback for when injuries and suspensions strike.

#24
Name: John Dragonslayer Richardson
Age: 27
Positions: CB/RB
Team: Image SC Kiel Image
Description: John's the son of Apoxians, but he was born and raised in Farfadillis. Aged just fourteen, though, he signed for Waldenøya Bears (no, we don't know how that happened) of Polar Islandstates. He played there until he turned twenty-five and signed for SC Kiel, who were terrific recently. Dragonslayer's an absolute animal. He's probably injured more players than he's scored goals. However, his talent is undeniable. Also, yes many defenders in this roster are related in some way to Apox. Surprising that good defenders often are not 100% Farf in every way, huh?

#25
Name: Mütó Rôsê Náándéz Dô Jônórá
Age: 23
Positions: LB/RB
Team: Image Âlâmëómë Image
Description: After Mâ Âlâmëómë's run to the Champions' Cup final this season, it was impossible for Náándéz to escape Pekarik's radar. Following Röènôùjýâ's move to the Nepharim league, Náándéz was finally given the nod at his club and he didn't disappoint. He may have been one of the weakest players in the starting eleven, in fact, but that's still pretty damn good. His style is just as abrasive as Drê's, which should come as no surprise considering the club he plays for.

#26
Name: Björg Spiro Thys
Age: 29
Positions: RM/RW
Team: Image Avenida Leal Image
Description: Björg's a fan-favrouite at Avenida Leal for a reason. A pacey and talented winger, he's as unlucky as can be to have been born around the same time as Risko Kâí and Mâás Fôx. Nonetheless, he's an interesting alternative which Pekarik will no doubt consider. He's likely to get most of his playing time against teams with a low ranking, if he does get called up. Still, he's got a lot of chemistry with other players in the squad, mostly as a result of playing alongside them for club at one point.

#29
Name: Lüzân Dâ Mírnév Ôyânájà
Age: 22
Positions: CM
Team: Image Dí Maozöxê Image
Description: One of Dí Maozöxê's finest youth products of late, Lüzân's not quite good enough to ever challenge Monrazón for the starting spot, truth be told. However, he still looks like a very interesting alternative. He's lacking in defense when compared to his Faroleran counterpart, but he beats him at passing and defending. He's had a bit of a break-out season. He should be getting into the squad regularly in a few years' time.

#27
Name: Itxaso Zuazubiskar Lauvé
Age: 30
Positions: CM/OM
Team: Image Avenida Leal Image
Description: Just like Ostadar, Itxaso is mostly Astograthian and, though we all know how that went down, his reasons for playing for Farfadillis have, surprisingly, nothing to do with authoritarianism. Farfadillis was the only team that ever paid attention to him, so he just chose to play for his mother's country. Not very complicated. He's now playing for Avenida Leal, a team that came in begging for his talent after the Astograthian league KABOOM'D. He's above-average in all offensive areas, but the only attribute of his that stands out is his long-range precision (must be an Astograthian thing).

#30
Name: Kühâx
Age: 32
Positions: LB/RB/LM/RM
Team: Image Âlâmëómë Image
Description: It is true that Kühâx is past his prime, but he still offers something other players in his position don't: defensive competence. He's got a lot of talent running down the flank, and his crossing is more than decent, but he definitely doesn't outshine any other player in this squad in that regard, at least not any player to whom those skills are relevant. He just has to make do with his niche in the team. He's pretty tall and, as a result, can score headers, which is a cool bonus. He had a pretty good season for Mâ Âlâmëómë. At least until Zachary Fortín completely humiliated him in the Champions' Cup final.

#28
Name: Michelson Juan Enigóó Suárez
Age: 23
Positions: CM
Team: Image Oldem Mechanical Image
Description: Michelson's been plying his trade under the radar for some time now, just like Leonhard. However, it's impossible to stay under the radar forever when you play for the #1 league of the Multiverse. Enigóó's definitely not as good as some other options, but his more balanced style could come in handy at some point if one of the main squad's midfielders get injured or suspended. He'll probably be competing with Dâ Mírnév for a place in the bench this cycle.

#32
Name: Carlos Manuel Abrigo Tormes
Age: 29
Positions: ST
Team: Image Flamagua Image
Description: Carlos has been playing very consistently for Flamagua for a long time now. Once part of a Farf Di Bradini squad, Abrigo's story is a bit of a frustrating one. The dribbling and the finishing to make it were there since the beginning, but the pace wasn't. It's not that Carlos' pace is a bit on the slow side. It's that it's on the painfully slow side, to the point a player who could've been a key part of the team is now a possible call-up in case of injuries and suspensions. Truly makes you wonder what could have been...

#31
Name: Täjó Ôýâtúfâ Çíânflöné Rütü
Age: 19
Positions: TQ/ST
Team: Image Raynor City United Image
Description: Football sometimes runs in the family. That is the case in the Çíânflöné family. Just like his cousin Fôrté, Täjó is immensely talented at kicking a ball around. He definitely looks set for great things. He's got acute tactical awareness and a consequent knack for exploiting defensive gaps with his speed, coupled with some sharp finishing skills. Originally a Dí Maozöxê player, he's recently moved to famous Vanorian outfit Raynor City United. He's not supposed to be starting games there or at the national team just yet but, if an unlucky string of injuries hits la Vherderoja, Pekarik certainly wouldn't think twice about giving Täjó a cap or two to aid his development.

If you RP before I do, you may:
- Choose my scorers (remember to watch substitution events in my RPs!)
- Godmod most scoring events (see below for rules about injury or death)
- RP injuries to my players, so long as they are not career-ending
- Not godmod player injuries by default. If something needs to be consistent with your RP and you absolutely cannot live without godmodding injury events, send me a TG and we'll talk.
- Hand out yellow cards at will.
- Only hand out one (1) red card without the need to TG me.
- Not kill Jayne Patrick, Wisdom Tracey, Nicole Statham, Joni Butler, or any staff member. Other players: please TG me so I know, but I probably won't refuse you. After all, this is the World Cup, so why not throw a few players into eternity?

Barunia's National Football Team

Everything you ever wanted to know about Barunian Football History

Cup of Harmony 62 runner-ups, World Cup 71 quarter-finalists...the Barunian Suns were expected to go far in WC72, but a poor end to qualifying saw them lose in the play-offs to Sargossa. Returning to the Cup of Harmony, they were hoping to go one better, but had to contend with fourth after losing the semi-final to The Sarian in a crazy match that saw 12 goals and then went in to penalties.

It's a very different looking squad, with 11 of the 23 players debutantes. The biggest name missing from the line up is former captain Sam Winton, who hangs up the boots after 6 world cups. Ruskin has brought in two replacements to fill the vital defensive midfielder role, in the form of Caroline Cole and exciting young prospect Daniel Kyrow. Also gone from the team is star striker Miguel "God" Manzana, who suffered an injury just before selection. Martin Tarrega will have big shoes to fill. Another exciting player is Felix "Bull" Benitez, who is already making a name for himself in the X-League as a tough, take-no-prisoners style defender.

Team Line-up
OOC: If I RP before you, please check my RP for the start list, as I will be changing it regularly. If you RP first, or I haven't posted a start list, have a look at the formation images for the starting lists. If you wish, feel free to make changes, as long as you swap defender for defender, midfielder for midfielder, etc, and keep the formation.

Head Coach: Joric Ruskin
Joric Ruskin played just seven international games in his footballing career, but he is still regarded as a legend in Barunian Sports. The Sun's captain during his career, Joric led them to the quarter-finals of the Baptism of Fire. In the Sun's inaugural World Cup campaign, Joric played just one game before departing the team suddenly. It later transpired that he had left to join the Socialist army in the civil war. His career as both a footballer and solider came to an abrupt end when he lost his legs in a grenade attack. Now confined to a wheelchair, the former defender for the Marion Hawks has found a new career as a football coach. His first campaign as coach saw him guide the team to their first world cup qualification (WC67), before following it up immediately with a second. While his job was in danger after the rocky campaigns of 69 and 70, a 2nd place finish in Cup of Harmony 62 saw him gain a reprieve, which he seized with both hands by returning the Suns to the World Cup in 71.
NB: As is typical of football teams in Barunia, the Suns do not have a manager. The Coach is responsible for managing the team.

Sun Stadium was built on the site of the old United Stadium, however it is not a renovation but a completely new building. Located in the national capital of Porthaven, Havenia state, the stadium was designed to be the home stadium of the Suns. This is evident in the seat patterning, which represents a yellow sun in a blue sky, and the golden "sunburst" roof. The stadium is multi-purpose too, creating a vibrant sports hub for the capital. During the World Cup, a party atmosphere will descend on the grounds around the stadium, as the national stadium will host the biggest match-ups of the tournament.

Memorial Stadium - Capacity: 100,000
Ground will host: Kernansquillec, RealSquad
It's been a long time coming for this upgrade to the Marion Hawk's home stadium. Originally intended to be named in honour of Hawks legend and national coach Joric Ruskin, the stadium name was changed at Ruskin's suggestion to honour all those who fought in the civil war. Memorial stadium is located in Edwardton, the capital of Marion state, and is shared by both the Marion Hawks and Edwardton Eagles, which has led to the nickname "The Birdcage". One of the newest stadiums in Barunia, Memorial stadium was built by Kytlerian company BNW Varin and features a retractable roof, 90,000 seats plus terraces, plenty of room for foreign media and large movable screens at the back of the top tier.

Sam Garcia Field (Northport Sports Complex) - Capacity: 43,000
Ground will host: Garifunya, Dreamplanet
Located in the city of Northport-San Baptise in the Northern Islands, this ground is the sacred heart of Barunian football. Located near the place where people first came to Barunia, San Baptiste island is considered the place where football began in this country. It's a ground known for firsts, hosting all home matches during the Suns inaugural World Cup campaign (due to it being the only safe ground during the civil war) and is the home of the San Baptiste Sea Lions, the first Barunian Football League championship team. Named in memory of former Sea Lions and Suns goalkeeper Sam Garcia, who died in a ferry crash that claimed hundreds of lives.

THE HOLY EMPIRE WC 73 SQUAD

While the nation took a long break from WCs 8 through 24, the Holy Empire is proud to be the only active nation to have participated in WC 1.

Though it pretends not to be, the nation is equally proud to have won 4 World Cup titles

This World Cup the Holy Empire is fielding a team of ordinary footballing humans; well, every now and then HEFA sees sense.

The Squad

Goal:
Andronicus Contostephano

Defence:
Miguel Aspietes
George Ducaso
John Lascaro

Midfield:
Juan Vatatzes
John Comneno
Michael Monomacho [cap]
Felipe Macrembolites
Constantine Cantecuzeno

Forwards:
Isaac Lecapno
John Petraliphaso

Substitutes:
Manuel Comneno [g]
Jesus Philes [def]
John Palaeologo [mid]
Isaac Curcuaso [mid]
Carlos Metochites [for]

Coaches:

The team coach remains World Cup Hall of Fame legend Juan Tzimisces

The assistant coach is Starblaydi World Cup Hall of Fame legend Simeone Di Bradini

Style Modifiers / formation

Frosty football is attacking football. The Holy Empire always plays a 3-5-2 formation using overlapping wingers that turns into 3-3-4 on the counterattack.

[OOC'ly, for the purposes of scorination, the team uses the maximum attacking style modifier permitted by each cup's hosts.]

Kit
The team will wear famous Imperial Gold and Red, as worn by the Holy Empire since WC1... but in a brand new design!

(home top, away bottom)
ImageImage

OOC'ly, the kits were designed by Red Blackiland, and the crest by Audioslavia - and I'm entirely grateful; I'm very happy for RB and Audio to take OOC credit. IC'ly, HEFA deny the Mundies had anything to do with it.

Stadium
The Holy Empire plays its home matches in the bejewelled, platinum-domed, and purple stone-walled Imperial Hippodrome, the oldest World Cup venue still in use, and one of the most famous - and impressive - stadiums in the multiverse.

RP instructions:
Have fun; but don't kill anyone, and don't try and launch attacks on the Dreamed Realm - largely because you can't.

Some basic Dreamed Realm RP rules:
Remember that the Dreamed Realm lies entirely outside of Ordinary Reality, and is utterly impervious to harm from what we charmingly call 'mundies'.

Some points to remember about travel to, and playing in, the Dreamed Realm:

1) We control the nature of reality in the Dreamed Realm; reality and time are malleable within the Realm. This isn't used to cheat - all normal rules of football are strenuously followed - but it does have two major side effects:
A) Any injuries to either team in Imperial home matches are immediately healed.
B) No violent or riotous behaviour by visiting fans will be tolerated, unless permission is received in advance (please file applications for violent rioting in triplicate). Any such behaviour undertaken without appropriate permission will find those responsible immediately transported back to Ordinary Reality.

2) Direct travel from ordinary physical reality to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. Some 72 hours before your away qualifier in the Empire, a team of Archregimancy monks will arrive in your home stadium and construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. You may then use this to travel to the Empire at your convenience.

POLAASKAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM, OFFICIAL WORLD CUP 73 SQUAD

STAFF:
Manager: Bosko Zhamaletdinov, 46
After guiding Volcano FK to the title two seasons ago, amongst other good performances in his three-year tenure, the PFA decided to appoint Zhamaletdinov to the position of manager but have still kept interim manager Otto Omirov on as a first team coach. The duo were midfield partners in Volcano back in the day, and Zhamaletdinov has decided to appoint some of his former teammates to the coaching staff., with recently retired Frans Martinsson being one of the new coaches despite them never playing together. After retiring from playing aged 37, Zhamaletdinov was a first team coach and U21 manager simultaneously for two years before being promoted to assistant for one year. At the close of that season, then-manager Darijo Simak decieded to leave and Zhamaletdinov was appointed manager, where he guided them to one title and two cups, which is adequate enough for PFA President Mikhaelo Vrjak.

Assistant manager: Maries van Romker, 55
Zhamaletdinov’s assistant at Volcano, previously the manager of Dutch Semarland’s national team. Half Dutch Semar himself, when the gritty centre-back retired from playing aged 34, he moved back to Dutch Semarland where he managed Inter Zotanekko and FK Kemsterdam before the national team, but returned to Polaaskan when he was sacked from his national team job. Widely expected to the be the defensive coach by some, Zhamaletdinov decided to keep him as his assistant. Rather loud like his colleague, van Romker is someone on the touchline you shouldn’t mess with.

Audioslavia is, both ICly and OOCly, rather ancient. The country was founded on December 17th 2002, a period regarded as 'pre-history' by many. The nation originally CTE'd in 2006, was revived briefly in 2007 and 2009, and enjoyed a proper resurgence at the start of 2012, locating itself in Atlantian Oceania indefinitely after IC centuries of rivalries with various nations in the region.

The Audioslavia national side participated in World Cups 4 to 29, made an abortive comeback in World Cup 37, and rejoined the world of international football properly back in World Cup 59. The ancient Audioslavia side qualified for all but one of the World Cups it entered (a young Audioslavia failed during the WC5 qualifying playoffs) and generally maintained a place in top twenty of the world rankings, peaking at #1 during the qualifying phases of World Cups 20 and 21.

Paradoxically, the national team has seen more success in its modern form - a period where quick success is much more difficult to achieve than in the early days. Whereas those early years yielded only the inaugural U21 World Cup and a string of losing finals in the World Cup proper, the modern team won the Baptism of Fire tournament before WC59 and triumphed in the thirty-fifth, thirty-eighth and thirty-ninth installments of the AOCAF Cup. The side have also reached the final of the AOCAF cup on four other occasions and have reached as far as the semi-finals of the Cup of Harmony.

Modern Audioslavia finally won the World Cup itself in cycle 63, a victory that required a huge amount of luck and some very po-faced, negative football. Audioslavia managed to win the tournament despite going into the qualifiers with a ranking of #53 in the world. Four years later, in World Cup 64, the national side proved that this win, as fortunate as it was, was no flash in the pan when they again took home the World Cup trophy, completing the first ever 'double-double' of winning back-to-back AOCAF and World Cup championships.
Audioslavian footballers tend to be a little on the small side, with few players standing over six feet (1.83m) tall. The average Audioslavian footballer stands at around about 5'8 (1.72m) or thereabouts, though most goalkeepers and central defenders are at least 5'11.

Audioslavian footballers are renowned for their high fitness levels and stamina, though a comparitively lithely framed squad do occasionally have problems when facing large, physical teams. Quick, one-touch passing is the key to Audioslavia's midfield prowess, which likes to play at a high tempo, and the side often take advantage of some fleet-footed wingers and full-backs to play through-balls beyond the oppisition's defensive line after having created the space with some quick interchanges. Audioslavian attacking football was built on the idea that two crisp, quick passes around the opponent's penalty area will lead to a goalscoring opportunity, and as such the team's forward line throughout history has been littered with quick-thinking playmakers and dead-eye finishers.

Recent Audioslavian sides have had few weaknesses, but no team is without one or two or seven near-fatal flaws, and Audioslavia certainly are no strangers to flaws. Audioslavian national teams tend to lack true leadership figures on the pitch - our nation's footballers tend to be stubborn with regards to letting peers tell them what to do. Audioslavian teams sometimes tend towards disorder and in-fighting when truly on the back-foot - say, when one or two goals behind in a game - and are easily disheartened when things start to go wrong. On the pitch, the side's lack physical strength means defending against corners is often a problem, despite a well-drilled defensive line. Marauding full-backs can be susceptible to counter-attacks via the wings, and very few centre backs in Audioslavia are very quick.

Kontrapuntzeka has long been the name of Audioslavia's style of play, taken from the Auskadian word for 'counterpunch'. Audioslavia's ability to hold teams at bay for long periods before hurting them via quick counter-attacks and short bursts of activity helped the side to its two World Cup victories. As the years have gone by, Audioslavia have had to veer away from the style as opponents start to adapt and change. The system that won two World Cups in a row doesn't quite hold against modern football teams. The national team have never really adapted a new style, however, and current manager Kajaxo Imaslavii, who twice won the cup as a player, has tried to recreate the 'spirit of sixty three' with regards to the side relying on hitting opponents on the counter.

Audioslavia's squad has traditionally consisted of a multitude of Audioslavians plying their trade abroad, including a number of nationalised foreign-born players. The progression of the LigAnaia, however, has seen an larger proportion of domestic-based players make the national team squad. A number of them come from 1830 Cathair, who recently won the coveted Champions Cup.
With Alexander Kirk having left his position after World Cup 72, Kajaxo Imaslavii has taken the reigns.

Imaslavii, born in Audioslavia but raised in Vilita, with both Audish and Vilitan parentage, holds the all-time appearance record for Audioslavia with 172 caps, having represented the country from World Cups 62 to 68. He won two World Cups and two AOCAF Cups as a player. His management credentials include the Champions Cup win for 1830 Cathair and one LigAnaia championship.

Imaslavii is a very Audioslavian manager. He has stated time and time again that he believes Audioslavian football is at its best when they accentuate the positives of the players' games, and that the counter-attacking style is still the side's best bet going forward.

Nevertheless, the Bulls have operated slightly differently in recent times. Gone is the tried and test 4-5-1 formation with one or two holding midfield players. Audioslavia now play a fairly orthodox four-four-two, with the emphasis very much on using wingers, full-backs and two skillful yet small forwards.
R.J. Styrn's retirement from international football has opened the door for Red Star Severny team-mate Espiridon Caszely to establish himself as a first-choice striker. Partnering Caszely is Weverton Rodriguez-Torrejon. Weverton's job is to link the midfield to the attack, and to grab goals himself. Caszely is an out-and-out finisher. On the bench, the tall young striker Dragan Kryznjak, of 1830 Cathair, occupies the super-sub role and is an option should Imaslavii need a 'big man' up front.

On the wings, Imanol Vengochea and Zorio Etxezuniyiga have taken the coveted 7 and 11 shirts and will likely be the team's main threats with regards to creating chances. 98-cap veteran winger Aitor Jovellanos will deputise for either flank, and has been chosen for his ability to fill in at almost any role on the pitch - he's played everywhere from full-back to striker for his club Dwile Warriors, and made the left-wing position his own for ten years despite fierce competition from Joord Rijshaart, himself one of Audioslavia's most gifted footballers in recent times.

In the centre, Hufschmied and Landhuis will both occupy fairly central roles, with the former in the team for his attacking nous and the latter selected for his defensive capabilities, as well as his ability to take a mean free-kick, while late-bloomer Christopher Swansmith will deputise. Central midfield has been a bit of a problem position for Audioslavia following Omaexevarria's retirement from international football. Asier Huelva and Vann Dallara - two of Audioslavia's young prospects - may well find themselves in the centre of midfield despite both being more noted as wingers and full-backs respectively. The lack of depth in the centre may well be one of the reasons Imaslavii has opted for a 4-4-2.

Goalkeeper Sean Patterick will once again take the number one jersey despite Imaslavii having initially preferred Serge Rollins. Rollins has suffered from some nagging injuries in recent months, and so Llorente - his understudy for years at Cazadores but now of Mertian hopefuls Kurtz Herritik - will deputise alongside young gun Wim de Snaaijer. Ahead of the goalkeeper will be the duo of Caceres and Goicoechea, who have established themselves in the centre, while who plays full-back is anyone's guess. Corbin and Varisco are usually first choice, but anyone from Jovellanos to Dallara to Evrard-Lecuyer could step in at any time.

Roleplaying permissions: We frown on god-modding if there isn't a sense of humour behind it. Everything else is fine. If you'd like to injure a few players or dish out red cards for a particularly harsh game, go right ahead, go hog wild. Want to injure the entire team in a bus-crash? Fine, but make it good, or suffer the humiliation of having your limbs scattered hither and thither via a blast from my mighty ignore-cannon.

One general rule about the Audioslavian national team is that we are very, very often the 'fall guy'. We've lost so many big matches - WC finals, AOCAF finals, you name it - that we've come to thrive on being the big baddie who gets their comeuppance at the end. If your team has a particular strength or tactic that they like to use, by all means use it against us and RP that it worked tremendously. The scorinator may well show us to have won, but don't let us get away with it without having had a jolly good scare first, and make sure to *really* rub it in our faces if you beat us. Anything that makes it fun to RP. We wouldn't have it any other way.

Formation, Starting XI, and Style

Style Modifier= +1

This time around, the Lions are going to be a bit more aggressive, starting in the midfield. Alec Chapin of Nephara's Maximum Rovers replaces longtime starter Kyle Fleming in the center midfield. He'll roam forward in support of Emmanuel Moga while Cesar Martinez drifts back to cover up on defense. On the wing is Jake Rhodes, the speedster playing for Atlantea Hurricanes (he's their captain now, too!). Rhodes is an aggressive player with a nose for the goal and will almost function as an outside forward. His more attacking play means that Chris Parker will be putting his distributive skills to work more than his goal-scoring skills on the other wing. Backing up Rhodes will be Eli Barrett, who is well known as a strong fullback with good pace willing to challenge enemy attackers. Rhodes should be able to get back on D, given his speed and motor, but if he can't, then Barrett will be there to cut off any chances. Aaron Bowen, playing for Montreal Koreana, is now playing in his third World Cup and second as a starter. Thomas Barnett, the former U20 and Olympic keeper, will get his second starting role in a World Cup. Barnett is a good player, but he will definitely be relying on his defenders to help him out. Emmanuel Moga will provide a strong attack up front, but Jimmy Kelly replaces Chris Hodges as the striker up front. Kelly has been more productive domestically lately than Hodges anyway, and his late surge of good play in the World Cup and Cup of Harmony has earned the starting job. Casey Bowman anchors the middle of the back line, and Matt Wells will attack down the flanks, replacing the older Bradley Lancaster.

National Stadium (110 000)
The National Stadium - the "Green Jewel" - is located in North-East Kernansquillec City.

The stadium is linked to the nearby town center and the city's international airport by a direct metro line known as the "Green Line". Shuttles arrives every couple of minutes on match days linking the city center to the stadium in about 6 minutes, with the stadium-airport link about 8 minutes long. City buses also link the stadium to the whole capital and a 25 000 capacity underground car park is a mere 300 meters away from the ground.

The all-seater stadium has a capacity of 110 000. A section of up to 10 000 seats can be reserved for away fans, however less are usually provided. All of the stadiums seats are either green or white.

The Stadium, which was built in 1995, has been refurbished only once in 2036 when damage done during the Great War was repaired and an additional 10 000 seats added. Internal facilities, such as changing rooms along with medical and security facilities were also refurbished with state-of-the-art equipment.

The Stadium hosts all of Kernansquillec's home internationals as well as the National Cup final and playoff finals. The Under 21s also play their home ties here. The stadium has also hosted the finals of the 53rd Series B Champions’ Cup as well as the final of the 8th Youth Cup. The stadium also helped host games during the 20th Copa Rushmori including a round of 16 tie between Electrum and Darmen with the latter winning 2-1.

National Info: The Unified Sunrise Islands are, in fact, the religious union of many countries whose names have Sunrise Islands. According to the Liro d'Arceus, a book where the religion of Arceusism is based after; the Sunrise Islands were formed by Arceus to guarantee peace and order. At one point, however, those rules ended up being forgotten by a good portion of the people, so Arceus sent Pokémon to carry its' word. After a brief while with both creatures coexisting, they all came to a term and the Sunrisians then became the people to carry the word of Arceus and follow its' principles.

At first, there was only one Sunrise Islands, known as the Northern Sunrise Islands. They are the most memorable name among the Sunrise Islands and also the one responsible for most of its' accolades. However, that doesn't exclude the other Sunrise Islands, all generated by other PokéDeities who, bored and inspired by Arceus, decided to take a try and create their own pieces of land on different realms. It wouldn't take long for almost all of the Sunrise Islands to end on a secondary realm, where, after the Kirigiri-no-Mikoto incident, all Sunrise Islands ended up joining the realm of the Northern Sunrise Islands. As a result of how out of hand the situation became, there is at least one Sunrise Island for each direction known to any being, even Up and Down; though reports say that they once considered having an All-Around, but that would sound "like a plan of a Spinda" and the closest to that are the Ferris Wheels still on existence at the Sunrise Islands.

Sunrisians mostly use English as their main language, seeing as most of the countries involved, for some rather helpful coincidence, all speak English with some other language but considering most of the Sunrisians have a thing for foreign culture, it's not rare to see that some weird group of people speak your language, even if it's way hidden and original and full of diacritics. In the end, the Sunrisians are a peaceful bunch, only getting to arms when really needed. They consider Pokémon Battling to be a thing, are starting to get used to cars yet have already developed a cure for a bunch of stuff. That's the Sunrise for you. And that's why most people love it.

The Euran Football Association’s 73rd World Cup Qualifying Squad

Manager: Steve Thompson (53, Eura)

All time Euran record appearance holder Steve Thompson, with 301 caps to his name and 75 goals, was made Euran manager amidst much fanfare ahead of the 20th Copa Rushmori and qualifying section for the 71st World Cup. By beating Tom Benedict, several other former Eura internationals and international candidates to the post, Steve had set himself up with the tough task of helping Eura recover from three consecutive poor performances at World Cup finals. Eura seemed to gain more defensive stability and ruthlessness under Louis Watson in his short spell as Thompson's predecessor, but while they dispatched of the minnows easily they underperformed badly against the higher seeds, and then fell apart in the group stage. Only a deserved draw with Valanora salvaged any pride as the respected but not highly rated Watson bowed out of international management. However Thompson turned things around with a surprisingly good performance at the 20th Copa Rushmori, though once again they came up just short of finally winning it - Eura continues to be perhaps the biggest underachiever in the tournament. His Eura side made it to the final before falling to an unlucky defeat in extra time against Sargossa by the score of 2-1, despite a headed goal from Craig Gilbert.

Many questioned whether or not this form would translate into the World Cup, and Thompson's side proved the doubters wrong. Their initial qualifying charge included a number of good wins including victories over Semarland and Mangolana, interrupted only by a frustrating draw in neighbouring Szavoda. However a loss away to the top seeds Royal Kingdom of Quebec, followed by draws against Semarland and Sandwich Territories, temporarily derailed Eura's qualification hopes. Thankfully Thompson turned it around, and powered on by veteran Skorji Oslograd's goals, they qualified. At the World Cup itself Eura finally broke their chain of group stage embarrassments, beating co-hosts Yttribia and the ever potent Farfadillis; their last game was an ignominious defeat to Star United States but they made it into the next round anyway. In the Round of 16 Eura encountered their qualifying rivals Royal Kingdom of Quebec and proved to be their bane once again, beating them 2-1, before beating Turori in an absolute thriller on penalties. However Eura's surprise advancement into the later stages was ended in the semi-finals by Rushmori rivals Pasarga, the goals of Brigham's Dominik Mauer sinking the Euran's despite Skorji Oslograd's 100th international goal. Eura's performance in the 21st Copa Rushmori was less admirable as they stumbled through the group stage before an undeserved quarter final exit to Taeshan.

The next cycle was met by more outstanding football and more heartbreak while Brigham were having that season at home. Eura blitzed their way to their third World Cup final, living up to the hype that followed the last cycle. They were particularly potent in having the most dangerous goalscoring record of any team, especially given Ashtree's age and Campbell's rawness being the only options up front, and went on a remarkable run of form that culminated in a famous 5-0 semi-final drubbing of Vilita. However Eura's newest nemesis Pasarga stood in the way again and defeated them at the final hurdle in a tight contest, and then knocked Eura out of the Copa Rushmori in the later stages on penalties after Eura had started impressively, and had won a 5-3 thriller against rivals Sameba. After these close misses, Eura must be wondering what they have to do to win an international tournament again. Despite this its a good time for Eura, who are now 2nd in the world - their highest ranking - and it is hard to argue that, on paper at least, only Pasarga can claim to be better. However there remain some lurking doubts; Eura's previous two finals produced the same issues of key players about to pass their peak and major changes to the starting lineup, and were followed by a quarter final exit and then several years of mediocrity. However Eura have effectively been in and around the final at the last two cups, and if they can be that consistent a third time around, then the future could be bright. In the meantime, can players like John Spartan have one last shot at glory? And with a now indisputably very experienced core of players, can Eura do a professional job in a tricky qualifying group?

Assistant Manager: Matt Boyce (53, Eura)

Boyce was a surprise appointment as Thompson’s assistant, having been out of coaching roles for a couple of years. However he has plenty of experience at various clubs and the national team before that and his appointment has been responded to positively. He has played a pivotal role in maintaining Eura’s improvements at the back, while his bubbly personality and reputation as a leader make him a valuable asset in the dressing room. He has been a key ingredient in Thompson's success, and has proven a lot less of a competitor, and more like an assistant, than Dimitri Campbell was to Ben Randall.

Godmod injuries to my players – YES (But only how the injury happens, NOT the extent of the injury)

30 man qualifying squad

Shirt number – name – position – age – caps – goals – club

Goalkeepers

1 – Chris Waller – GK – 35 – 136 – 0 – Ulsa
13 – Ben Prince – GK – 32 – 31 – 0 – Revolutionaries
30 - Carl Brommis - GK - 34 - 23 - 0 - Directus

Waller spent five year as the undisputed top dog of Eura's always decent pool of goalkeepers before being surpassed by Prince for the last cycle due to injuries, Waller's bad form and Prince's three consecutive Goalkeeper of the Season awards. However Prince, who was primary choice almost until the very end of the run to the final, fell out of favour after some costly mistakes and underperformances at the top stage. As a result Waller has regained his role, but he is now 35 and Prince will likely be number one again before long. Meanwhile Brommis looks destined to retire with a couple of dozen caps.

Defenders

2 – Weylon Churchilli – RWB – 32 – 127 – 12 – Spartangrad
3 – Andrew Watson - LWB – 29 - 108 - 3 - Directus
4 – Craig Gilbert – CB – 30 – 126 – 5 – Directus
5 – Frank Ainsworth - CB - 24 - 16 - 1 - Ulsa
15 - Mark Rogers – CB – 30 – 95 – 3 – Revolutionaries
19 – David Pope - CB - 28 - 4 - 1 - Brigham
21 – Joe Caffin – RB – 29 – 22 – 1 – Revolutionaries
23 – Anthony Cotra – LB – 26 – 25 – 2 – Falourr
25 – Gavin Madison - CB - 31 - 63 - 1 - Ulsa
27 - Robbie Faulkner - RCB - 29 - 17 - 0 - Urbanista (Apox)

There are winds of some change in Eura's backline, with one outright replacement as Harris is dropped altogether for now as Eura shrink the defensive section to nine men. Ainsworth is now a solid starter inbetween three defenders who all have a century of caps, but Mark Rogers is a very capable deputy for either him or Gilbert and will compete for a start. Pope moves up the order while Madison and Faulkner fail to break through, though both are very capable back ups. Churchilli remains probably the most technically gifted of this unit but at 32 it is a surprise his legs have not gone already; several promising right backs are waiting in the wings in case they do but in the meantime Revolutionaries solid but not exceptional Caffin is first choice. At left back Watson's place is under modest threat from Cotra but his form seemed to recover in the Trindl Invitational, while Gilbert remains unassailable.

Midfielders

6 – Gareth Blackthorn - CDM/CM – 31 – 153 – 10 – Revolutionaries
7 – Craig Sinclair – AM – 29 – 177 – 67 – Ulsa
8 – John Spartan – CM/CAM – 31 – 169 – 52 – Revolutionaries
11 - Joel Sutton - LW - 24 - 19 - 6 - Metropolis Alligators (Valladares)
12 - Lewis Hughes - AM - 27 - 14 - 5 - Spartangrad
16 – Rob Bell – CM – 30 – 58 – 7 – Ulsa
18 – Charles Hunter – CM – 27 – 24 – 6 – Directus
20 – Mike Adams – RW – 32 – 123 – 34 – Spartangrad
22 – Freddie Nolan - CM/CAM - 24 - 7 - 1 - Ulsa
24 – Sterling Rose - CDM - 24 - 33 - 2 - AC Izotz Zubia (Audioslavia)
28 - Leo Hargreaves - AM - 26 - 0 - 0 - Northbrook Diamonds (PIS)
29 - Albin Oslograd - CAM - 30 - 58 - 12 - East Franz Athletic (PIS)

Eura's midfield is clearly their strongest area in the starting eleven and in depth. hence why they are now selecting twelve midfielders in the squad. They might have been outfoxed by Mor and his Pasargan comrades in recent times but all things considered, Eura arguably has the best starting midfield in the world, and has done for two cycles. Even at 31 there is simply no arguing with the world class quality provided by Spartan, the dynamic box to box midfielder and captain built in the image of the manager Thompson. Even more influential is Sinclair, a man now hitting his prime, however hard it may be to believe that he isn't already operating on a plane of reality most young Euran men fantasise about, a level on which he cannot improve. Admittedly he must peak soon - he is 29 now and after the narrow miss at the last World Cup, we must wonder about the awkward question as to whether or not that was his last chance to be world champion again. The midfield story isn't just about two men though. Adams is now no longer the preferred starter, with Hughes and the ferocious Sutton fighting for his place. Meanwhile Spartan's indomitable partner Blackthorn is hanging on to his first team place by a thread as Hunter and Rose circle around, while Oslograd is being phased out of the side after being a clear weak point during the last World Cup - he is a quality player, but this is not just any midfield unit. Otherwise the main change is that Hargreaves is now in the international set up, narrowly edging out Robinson among others.

Forwards

9 – Kris Campbell - ST - 26 - 16 - 13 - Mâ Âlâmëómë (Farfadillis)
10 – Lofty Jones - CF - 20 - 2 - 1 - Bastion
14 – George Davies - CF - 25 - 0 - 0 - Holdenberg
17 – Sean Hayward - ST - 27 - 0 - 0 - Bastion
26 - Michael Simpson - ST - 29 - 7 - 1 - Hornchurch

Last cycle we said that for the first time in many years, Eura don't have a world class striker. It seems that this misfortune lasted us only half a qualifying campaign. Campbell has come from nowhere to lead the line now and this relatively late bloomer is the most clinical finisher we've had since Oslograd. In fact, he might be even more clinical; he doesn't have the same sheer power or score many screamers, but he is fast and always in the right positions. There are even whispers of the name "Sharp" in relation to him, though such hype should be restrained before being taken seriously. Despite this, up front is where the most change has taken place for Eura as Thompson radically refits their front line in depth and gives a chance to some young prospects, making this by far the most inexperienced area of their squad, and perhaps the area with the shallowest pool of quality. Unsurprisingly Ashtree has bowed out of international football at 34 with 112 caps and 50 goals, a nice round number to end on after a wonderful career as a very consistent striker who was often underrated, despite his once £50m price tag. Allen has done the same after 25 goals and 61 caps, with a lot less notice. Some suggest he never quite got a full opportunity at international level, but few players who were in Silver League until their mid-twenties can complain about those stats when behind Oslograd and Ashtree. Of the peripheral backup forwards, Mallard's thin hopes of a callup are now all but gone, while Robinson is dropped, and only Simpson holds on to his place, just. Coming in to take the number ten shirt from Allen is Jones, the nearly 7ft tall centre forward who has joined Bastion from Old Boys Club, one of the great gamble signings of our era. He is a very un-Euran forward, only really comparable to Daley and Cardle. The latter was a flavour of the month but the former matched height and power with solid technical ability, and Jones already has both and more at 20 years old. He got his first goal at the Copa but it remains to be seen how he will do as Eura's second forward, with rumours abound that he may start some games as part of a front two. The remaining two spots are taken by Hayward and Davies, uncapped strikers in their mid-20's at good Euraleague clubs who have earned their places.

STAFF (3)
[ID || Name - Position - Age]

RR || Ronald RUMP - Manager - 82
It is rumored that Ronald’s source of wisdom, confidence, and longevity is his dazzling hair, which eats a total of 3 tons of football manuals and memoirs annually. His most recent winning streak of 15 matches was only broken due to a stalker who cut a piece of his hair off mid-game.

RH || Ronald Rump’s HAIR - Assistant Manager, Head Coach, & Physio - 47
After suffering the injuries of the aforementioned incident, Rump’s hair has unfortunately been demoted to assistant manager. It also serves as a Physiotherapist, with several masters degrees in the department.

VG || Valarie Rachel GONZALES - Physiotherapist - 56
Although she doesn’t speak much of any language, Valarie has a shame-glare that can melt rainbows and make anybody guilt-run into perfect form.

VG || Valarie Rachel GONZALES (clones x7) - Cheer Captain & Cheer Squad - 54
Scientists have managed to clone and backdate the beautiful scowls of Ms. Gonzales into the national team's personal cheer squad. Led by clone #1 (and occasionally Ms. Valarie Gonzales herself), the squad's theme of rebirth will surely inspire the crowds and motivate the team.. yes, motivate indeed...

GOALKEEPERS (2)
[# || Name - Age - Sex - Team]

1 || Nihil Unus HUNG - 24 - M - Capitol FC
With the help of Valarie, Nihil is now ironically proficient in three different languages. He has won numerous gymnastics championships, thus allowing maximum flexibility to defend the goal. However, a recent accident has left him down in the dumps.

19 || Undeviginti HUNG - 24 - F - Tropico FC
Undeviginti “iggi” Hung was once part of an undercover, secret child-spy organization, and often found far away from home. She now uses her swift reflexes to serve goalie duty. She is often found plotting to murder Rump’s hair, and was the primary suspect in the aforementioned incident with Rump’s hair.

DEFENDERS (5)
[# || Name - Age - Sex - Team]

3 || Tres HUNG - 24 - M -Elk-Pines FC
After a terrible accident as a child, Tres had to have his left arm amputated. He is now a national hero after becoming the youngest Junior Lieutenant in the coast guard. With his strong leadership and charisma, he leads the national team as co-captain.

4 || Quattor HUNG - 24 - M - South Bay FC
It is often said that Quattor “att” Hung and his younger sister Quinn are one in the same. The two are inseparable and have the same bulky and tough build. It is rumored that they can communicate with each other via their minds, thus being the source of their freakishly scary synchronization abilities and scarily matching facial expressions, behavior, and thoughts.

5 || Quinque HUNG - 24 - F - South Bay FC
Quinque “quinn” Hung and her brother’s names are often used interchangeably. It is virtually impossible to tell the difference between the two if hair length is not counted.

12 || Quodecim HUNG - 24 - F - Tropico FC
Quodecim “dicey” Hung is very dicey. She is short, fast, and you never know what she’s thinking or going to do. Her ADHD may have contributed to her hasty decision making, but in the end, she always manages to do good.

14 || Quattordecim HUNG - 24 - M - Capitol FC
Quattordecim “otto” Hung was severely obese. Through the power of sport, Otto has put his naturally stocky build to good use, easing his mind from his past. Usually.

MIDFIELDERS (5)
[# || Name - Age - Sex - Team]

8 || Octo HUNG - 24 - M - Capitol FC
Octo has eight fingers on one hand. Its relation to his name is purely coincidental. Maybe. It is often said that his extra fingers give him perfect from. Another finger seemed to have been growing from Octo’s other hand after the aforementioned incident with Rump’s hair.

9 || Novem HUNG - 24 - M - Elk-Pines FC
Novem, Decem and Dec were once conjoined together. After living having to live like that for 16 years, the three were finally separated, but are now closer, and happier, than ever.

10 || Decem HUNG - 24 - F - Elk-Pines FC
Decem has developed perfect precision leg-eye coordination after spending 16 years in conjoinedtivity with her brothers. Unlike her brothers however, Decem kept on developing her coordination skills after the separation, whereas Novem has become increasingly lazy.

11 || Undecim HUNG - 24 - M - Elk-Pines FC
Undecim “deck” Hung was the average one of the trio, and will always be the average one. He finds joy in card tricks, though.

15 || Quindecim HUNG - 24 - F - Aurora Borealis FC
Not much is known about Quindecim. She’s spent years hitchhiking the mountains of the nation in her mystical purple robes. Her adventures have left her with a tough skin and terrible posture due to the weight of the robes constantly being pushed against her.

STRIKERS (4)
[# || Name - Age - Sex - Team]

2 || Duo HUNG - 24 - M - Capitol FC
Duo was always been the black sheep of the family. His main motivation now is to prove his family wrong. With all the bottled up energy, Duo has become an remarkably aggressive player, but has learned to control it and release it by will with the help of Valerie.

6 || Sehk HUNG - 24 - M - Capitol FC
After disappearing into the wilderness as a child, Sehk reemerged from the great Burthnian forests after the aforementioned incident with Rump’s hair. Legend has it that Rump’s hair, in a state of panic, summoned Sehk’s wild and resilient spirit out of the wilderness to save the team future losses. Sehk has been disconnected from the outside world for 12 years.

7 || Buffalo ELK - ?? - M - Capitol FC
This six-legged creature posses the strength of a buffalo, and the swiftness of an elk. Found deep within the uranium mines of Burthnas, this strange hybrid of the nation's near-extinct national animal and historical national symbol has been captured and tamed through the power of football and drugs. lots and lots of drugs. He is the co-captain, along with Duo.

13 || Tredecim HUNG - 24 - F - Great Plains FC
Tredecim is the ambassador of the sponsoring gum company ‘Tredent.’ His sneaky business-person tactics has, strangely, landed him great success in his sporting career.

The Googolsians are back! They were rather unfortunately dropped from the BoF in the round of 16, however are back, now with a new player, Eberhard Kijek, who will permanently replace Arend Bokori following the 'incidents' of the BoF matches. They'll be wearing the same jerseys and all, but the head coach is sure that they'll do well, saying he's put them through a lot more training since.

Squad

Note that players are arranged by playing position and squad role in that order; in other words, player(s) listed first for a specific position will be the first choice player(s) for that position. All players are female unless otherwise specified.

Goalkeepers

1 Kiyoko TAKANASHI 22 years Goalkeeper
Brilliantly talented? Yes. Reliably unreliable? Yes.

Those two words are adequate descriptions of first-choice Kirisakian 'keeper, Kiyoko Takanashi. She's not your average goalkeeper; with a taste for adventure and showboating, Takanashi is the archetypal sweeper 'keeper in Kurumi Shirakiin's high-octane side. Her contributions are significant in both the defensive and attacking phases of the Nova's game; defensively, her pace and anticipation allows Shirakiin to play a high line, as well as incorporate the more technical and physically frail Mikasa as a ball-playing center back; offensively, her accurate distribution means that defensively unsound teams can easily be caught on the break by the pace of the rest of the team. Her one major flaw is her composure under pressure; Takanashi has been known to commit high-profile errors in matches of magnitude, and this is a large stick which her detractors have at their disposal.

23 Eri SHIGURE 15 years Goalkeeper
The reliably reliable backup for the enigmatic, error-prone 'keeper that is Kiyoko Takanashi. Still only fourteen years of age, she has already been touted by many as the successor to Takanashi, who despite being seven years her senior remains only twenty-one. Shirakiin is expected to play her in games against lesser opponents, with a view to readying this promising youngster for the first team as soon as possible.

Possessing a remarkably cool head for her age, Shigure is a competent all-round 'keeper who can play both conventional and sweeper keeper roles, specialising in the former. While she is no flashy, adventurous 'keeper in the mould of Takanashi, Shigure is decent with the ball at her feet, and has the requisite technique to initiate passing moves from her penalty area. Her true strength lies in one-on-one situations; an imposing presence in goal despite her years, Shigure's excellent positioning and instincts allow her to make saves off the toes of opposition strikers with impunity. Her only weakness is her communication; a quiet girl by nature, she sometimes has trouble communicating her instructions to her defence, and as a result the team is rather more prone to defensive breakdowns whenever she's in the side.

80 Misa NAKAI 15 years Goalkeeper

Defenders

4 Rin NATSUME 19 years Left back
In keeping with the tradition of Kirisaki's buccaneering inverted wing-backs, Natsume's play is designed around pace and wing wizardry. In a conventional tactical setup, the responsibility of providing incision from the flanks might well be left to the wingers - a stark contrast from the Shirakiin system. Thanks to the versatility which is so prized by the incumbent manager, Natsume found herself elevated to a starting spot ahead of the more tactically-limited Suzuki Rikka - and it is that very quality which has enabled her to thrive within a tactical setup emphasising creative freedom over excessive transitional rigidity.

While defensively more than a little suspect, Natsume's speed and not-inconsiderable strength has allowed her to exploit defensive oversights or simple incompetence effectively; when switching positions with her left winger Uryū, she becomes a potent force on the flank, often cutting in to allow a teammate to make a free attacking run down the left. She is also a force to be reckoned with when on the ball - tricky dribbling is one of her strengths, and her finishing is commendable enough for a nominal defender when the ball falls onto her favoured foot. However, she can be easily harried off the ball when matched up against a stronger opponent with pace to match her own, and despite her skill on the ball, her off-the-ball movement can be questionable at times.

12 Gin ISEYA 15 years Left back
Gin Iseya is possibly one of the quickest players in the entire squad. And that's really something for a player playing for a team boasting the likes of Kaori Uryū and Kirara Steiner. A left wing back by trade for her club, Iseya was repurposed into a more conventional defensive role by Shirazaka in DBC32 in an attempt to provide defensive solidity to the typically porous defence. She played her heart out during the Little Nova's amazing run to the trophy, proving her worth to the team with several solid performances on opposition dangermen, and was arguably a core component of the team during that period.

Physically and mentally quick, Iseya usually acts as the conduit for the Little Nova's transition into attack from the left side of defence. While she has had to curtail her attacking instincts somewhat under Shirazaka's instruction, Iseya is still very much a willing runner in attack, often overlapping for an extra attacking outlet. Naturally right-footed, Iseya likes to cut in from the flank for a shooting opportunity, but she is still very much an effective crosser with her weaker foot. She will always look to burn the opponent for pace whenever she can - and a combination of Iseya and Uryū running at a defender is devastating, to say the least.

5 Mifune ISHIO 20 years Center back
The complete technical centre back schooled in the Kirisakian art of 'defence' (i.e. offence is the best defence), Ishio is a veritable defensive totem for the Kirisakian team. Arguably the most defensive player of the entire starting XI sans defensive partner Mikasa, her playstyle is geared towards providing adequate support for the midfield while retaining a modicum of control over Kirisaki's own defensive third. Tactically speaking, Ishio's defensive role is simple - sweep up long balls and dispossess anyone prowling within range of her defensive zone, while leaving Takanashi to sort out the hopeful long punts. However, this task is decidedly more difficult than the job description would seem to suggest - having a goalkeeper with an unusual playstyle in Takanashi, Ishio is often tasked with the unenviable job of attempting to rescue a seemingly desperate defensive situation.

Bailing out the rest of her defensive colleagues is usually part and parcel of the Ponyville United centre back's game, and her immaculate timing of the tackle is a huge asset. Despite being vertically challenged like the rest of the Kirisakian team, Ishio is blessed with a stunning jump - she more than makes up for her inferiority in terms of absolute height by rising far above the opposition when challenging for headers, a great asset which often comes in handy at both ends of the pitch. It is one key reason why she has been a mainstay of the starting XI ever since Shirakiin took charge of the national team - there is simply no one else possessing her unique skillset, and whenever Ishio is absent, Kirisaki look very suspect at defending set-pieces and crosses into the area, a weakness which is only exacerbated by Takanashi's poor command of her area.

21 Natsumi MIKASA 19 years Center back
A sports commentator was once overheard making a less-than-complementary remark about then fourteen-year-old Mikasa - 'what's that little girl doing on the pitch?' Barely 160 centimetres in height at sixteen years of age, one would not have thought that Mikasa makes a living as a professional footballer, let alone a centre back. It does not pay to underestimate the seemingly-frail Mikasa, however, as plenty of forwards found out to their cost last cycle - the Starfall centre back packs a punch when it comes to tackling, while her physique conceals above-average upper body strength honed by years of consistent regimens.

In terms of style, expansive passing play is a defining characteristic of the more attacking-minded Mikasa. Often switching positions with the bulkier Saten, her competence in the pivot is nothing to be sniffed at - she is regularly the only pure defender to rank in the top ten of the senior squad in terms of successful through balls. Complementing Ishio's more defensively-oriented skillset with her own offensive spark, the two, in tandem with the midfield pivot of Ishibashi and Saten, form a formidable defensive combination.

16 Mashiro TACHIBANA 17 years Center back

25 Mana SATŌ 18 years Right back
Shirakiin's well-documented predilection for attacking-minded defensive players notwithstanding, Satō's long-standing presence in the senior team has always been taken for granted, simply because she does her unspectacular job spectacularly well. Less of a direct attacking threat than Natsume, Satō plays with two things in mind - one, to keep the opposition pinned back in their own half; and two, to create attacking outlets for teammates with her astute positioning.

She is not one to be directly involved in the attacking play; however, her role is crucial in that it disrupts the opposition's defensive line and opens up all sorts of opportunities for Kirisaki to capitalise upon. Pulling the opposition one way and another with sheer positioning is one thing; but being a credible threat to warrant the opposition reshuffle is another thing altogether; Satō has a mean eye for goal, and her delightful crosses are nothing to be sniffed at either. Can be found wanting for stamina in the later stages of a game, so she's usually the first player to be substituted whenever Shirakiin feels that she can afford to spend a substitution on energy conservation.

29 Yuiko KASUGANO 17 years Right back

Midfielders

22 Ruiko SATEN 21 years Central defensive midfielder
Saten Ruiko can only be described as the human personification of the Energizer bunny. In her role as the box-to-box midfielder, Saten's unbounded energy and drive is the oil that keeps the Kirisakian juggernaut ticking over comfortably. The number 22 usually plays in a withdrawn role in midfield, allowing the more creatively talented Ishibashi to venture forward supporting the attack, but she is hardly one to shy away from partaking in the attack herself.

Unlike the silky Ishibashi, Saten plays rough and is not ashamed of it; she is well-known for her hatchet jobs and bodychecks, and many a player has been on the receiving end of one of her powerful challenges. A dab hand both on the ground and in the air, the midfield general is well-rounded in all aspects of the game, and is especially talented at the fine arts of tackling and pressuring the opposition. She likes to shoot from long range, especially when facing a shaky opposition goalkeeper, while her exceedingly impressive energy levels allow her to flourish well late into the game. A favourite Shirakiin ploy is to substitute a fresh Saten in after the hour mark as an impact substitute, with a brief to harass and force mistakes out of the tiring opposition.

27 Hino ASAHI 15 years Central defensive midfielder

18 Tomoe ISHIBASHI 20 years Central midfielder
Kirisaki's very own midfield metronome, passing - whether it be short square passes, raking crossfield passes or delicately dinked through balls - is second nature to Ishibashi. Usually playing alongside the energetic Saten, Ishibashi's own style is more languid, relaxed and distribution-centric, focusing on dictating play and supplying the pacy attacking quartet with her incisive passing. As can be expected for a master of the pass, Ishibashi's vision is exemplary; spraying passes left, right, and center, her proficiency in this department meshes well with the intelligent attacking runs of Uryū and Isshiki, providing them with all the support they require to wreak damage in the final third. Ishibashi complements Tsuchimikado's more adventurous style well; often to be found roaming in an advanced position later in a match despite her withdrawn starting position, Ishibashi's sublime interplay with Tsuchimikado has brought many an opposition defence to its knees, the two often combining to devastating effect in the opposition half.

The Saten-Ishibashi combo has also proved to be a winner; depending on the success of her interplay with Tsuchimikado, Ishibashi can withdraw slightly and feed the buccaneering Saten with shorter balls instead. Free-kicks have always been a key strength of Ishibashi's game, and she has scored some delightful scorchers over the course of her national career, with the most memorable coming in a Phoenix Cup game against Felix. A significant weakness is her defensive inadequacy; many's the time Ishibashi has been caught out of position when the team is caught on the break, and that can prove especially costly if Kirisaki's flank players have overplayed their hand in attack.

27 Kanade KIRISAKI 15 years Central midfielder
Kanade Kirisaki was just seven years of age when she began embracing the beautiful game. The dauntless, adventurous central midfielder grew up kicking a ball together with her friends on the lush plains of rural Aonojuku, and would continue to do so for four years, when her family exchanged the pleasantly sleepy atmosphere of their village for the urban metropolis of Kirayuki. The young girl, naturally, sorely missed her football - and would often frequent a local football development camp sponsored by the IFA after school hours. Playing against opponents several years her senior, Kanade was very much their equal; and thanks to her tigerish performances, she eventually caught the eye of a member of staff, and was duly granted a scholarship to the IFA's special academy in Kinokomura.

A terrier of a midfielder, it is perhaps no surprise that Kanade's natural position is in the pivot. She utilises her nearly limitless reserves of energy to great effect throughout a match, hassling and harrying opponents by constantly snapping at their heels. While she is no man mountain, Kanade's defensive instincts allow her to position herself well; and she does a good job of nipping in for the tackle whenever she sees a chance to win the ball. In terms of distribution, perhaps her sole major deficiency at the moment, Kanade is fairly limited, often choosing to lay off a simple square pass to a creative team mate instead of trying a spectacular cross-field pass. She does have good creative vision, however, and with a bit of fine tuning, seems set to reprise the Ishikawa role at the base of midfield as a full member of the senior team in the fullness of time.

80 Rin SASAHI 15 years Central midfielder

10 Mikoto TSUCHIMIKADO 20 years Central attacking midfielder
Captain and goalscorer extraordinaire, no single player in Kirisakian footballing history has ever matched Tsuchimikado's astonishing goalscoring ratio. Nominally a creative attacking midfielder, Tsuchimikado tends to play off her forward's shoulder, her versatility allowing the team to shift to a two-striker formation with the minimum of fuss. An unparalleled instinct for scoring, coupled with a stunning rocket of a shot, has allowed Tsuchimikado to plunder goals against opposition from all across the ranking spectrum with remarkable ease. No matter where she may be on the pitch, she's always a latent threat waiting to pounce when the opportunity arises - just ask Northern Sunrise Islands 'keeper Mellody Sioux, who was beaten by a spectacular 35-yard angled drive during WCQ 69.

As part of her armoury, the captain also boasts an unerring eye for the cute pass. Her telepathic connection with both Ishibashi and Saten allows her to showcase that particular attribute to devastating effect, regularly combining to pass the opposition out of the game with her midfield colleagues. Tsuchimikado's main strength is of course her finishing and anticipation, but she is equally well versed in the art of tackling - whenever interchanging with Kurugaya, she is often the first line of defence for the Nova, and her high work rate plus impressive engine allows her to give the opposition defenders no end of trouble. Top-class teams can often mark her out of the game by sticking a strong defender on her, although she does have a turn of pace that can leave the inattentive marker embarrassingly sprawled on the pitch.

8 Koeda SAKURANAMI 16 years Central attacking midfielder

Forwards

92 Kaori URYŪ 17 years Left winger
Kaori Uryū, at just fifteen years of age, is widely acknowledged as one of the finest, most exciting wingers that Suisetsu has ever produced. Blessed with a dizzying turn of pace and all the technical attributes to thrive in a typical Kirisakian system, the teenager is a crucial attacking outlet for the Little Nova. She isn't a prolific goalscorer by any means, and can sometimes be guilty of overplaying, but the bag of tricks she has under her belt more than makes up for that minor shortcoming; her inclination for blowing past stranded, flat-footed opponents to produce hatfuls of chances for her teammates to convert has quickly made her a fan favourite.

She specialises in perfectly-timed low crosses, but can also deliver a peach of a floater whenever the situation necessitates it. Skillful finishing is part of the tricky winger's repertoire as well; several memorable strikes have come against top-class opposition, in particular two crucial strikes in the latter stages of the 32nd DBC; the first of which propelled the Little Nova into the final, the second a superbly taken curler that restored parity against Nephara in said final. She can be a major thorn in the opposition's side when on fire; indeed, her magical solo contributions have, on several occasions, made the difference for the senior team.

88 Reika ITSUKA 16 years Left winger

11 Mika ISSHIKI 20 years Right winger
The classical Kirisakian inverted winger, Isshiki lives for causing havoc on her flank. Whenever she steps on the pitch, you can bet she's going to do her damnedest to give her defender a torrid time. Being an out-and-out winger, she has that yard of pace which enables her to always be a step ahead of the pursuing defender, and it is undeniably her biggest asset.

Unlike the more technical Uryū, who revels in executing sublime crosses and pulling off spectacular dribbles, Isshiki doesn't bother with the aesthetic side of the game if she can get away with it - she simply blows past everyone else and gets the ball into the box, failing which she will apply the finishing touch herself. You would be surprised at how much damage Isshiki can cause with a penetrating run with the ball, but it's just another day on the job for the speed merchant. Don't be fooled into thinking that Isshiki's speed is her only strength, though; the Canterlot Stars winger has made a name for herself after bamboozling a boatload of handily experienced veterans during her debut cycle. Underestimate her at your own peril.

17 Kirara STEINER 16 years Right winger

30 Miki KURUGAYA 19 years Forward
A highly accomplished target man, Kurugaya's finishing prowess - both in the air and on the ground - is simply unsurpassed in Kirisaki. Standing at 174 centimetres tall, Kurugaya is a strong presence in the penalty area, and she uses her strength to great effect. Whether it be sweeping loose balls home from close range or sending goalkeepers sprawling with thirty-yard piledrivers, Kurugaya is in her element when scoring - she and Tsuchimikado alone have contributed close to forty percent of the Nova's goals over the last three cycles.

However, she isn't a selfish player by any means; she is equally comfortable holding the ball up and waiting for support to arrive. Pace is yet another key attribute in the Kurugaya armoury, while her athleticism has improved by leaps and bounds after Shirakiin slotted her into the starting XI in place of Izawa. Her sheer instinct for knowing when to arrive in the box has contributed to a large amount of her goals, while opposition defenders would do well to pay attention to her propensity to force the issue and pull the trigger at the slightest hint of an opening.

THE CHIEFDOM OF COPPER CUPRUM
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

This is the first time that Copper Cuprum will be participating in the World Cup qualifiers. Copper Cuprum had been long isolated from the international community since it is a small island archipelago located deep in the middle of the Lazarus Ocean, far from any regular shipping lanes since man first sailed ships. The nation was only discovered by the Fleftic Navy in 1914, when they were searching for the daughter of President Rufus Wole Mensah, whose ship was wrecked in the general vicinity of the islands. Arriving in the capital of the islands, they discovered that Chief Zed had made the President's daughter his queen, generating a sudden alliance between the two countries. And Copper Cuprum was also rich in copper, so that was a good thing for Abanhfleft too...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation:
The Chiefdom of Copper Cuprum
Demonym: Copperite
Kits: The Copper Cuprum national football team does not wear any kits as ordinary people know them. Instead they play wearing only white loincloths, studded shoes, shin guards. The keeper also has gloves along with the aforementioned kit.
Team colors: Black and white
Style modifier: +1.00 (A balanced team with a slight focus on offense)
Formation: 4-5-1
Head coach: Duke Dorogi Dorogo (49 y/o, Copper Cuprum)
Notes: It is Copperite tradition to slit the throat of a live chicken before a game and then spread the spilled blood on the field. However, after the Valladar authorities advised the Copperite Football Federation against performing this tradition after local audiences were shocked by this tradition, it has been decided that in place of this tradition, Copperite players will now cut off the head of a rubber chicken before a game and then toss the head around like a hot potato.

STARTERS
GK: Enera Temoyo
27 y/o, Athletic Wa Gon Image
Quite short for a keeper, but he does the job well enough to be the starting keeper for Athletic Wa Gon, the marquee team of the Copper Cuprum National League. But this doesn't mean much as the National League is considered as the least competitive of the leagues in the countries within Abanhfleft's sphere of influence.

RB: Tumoka Batuba 23 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz North End Image
Solid right back, but still quite raw for his age. Sometimes advances a little too far into the offense to the other backs' liking. Thinks of himself as a wingback, but simply doesn't have the speed or the feet to get quickly between offense and defense and can't make a cross to save his life. Still gets lucky sometimes, though.

RCB: Setobi Bonoyok 30 y/o, Vorpommern Nyqvist Image
Experienced center back but definitely lacks pace. Big man with a big leap that makes him more of an aerial threat than he should probably be. Unfortunately he's built like a tank and maneuvers like one, making it easy for a somewhat skilled player to get around him. (Think Per Mertesacker as a close equivalent in RL.)

LCB: Derek Chidagi 24 y/o, Miroz Old Boys Image
An immigrant to Abanhfleft that decided to play for his motherland after all. He's probably the only really good defender in this lot, and therefore bears the brunt of the defensive work for the team. He still has his problems, though, meaning that he will think nothing of tripping up any opposing players that are goalbound. Will probably concede a lot of penalties.

LB: Esteke Inanuk 28 y/o, Athletic Dorfdifving Image
Not really the best defender in Copper Cuprum, but certainly not the worst one either. Truth be told, though, he only looks good because many of his other teammates are shit. Placed in a world-class back line, he'd be the first player that disappears from notice. But when he performs well, he performs well and in a sublime manner.

RM: Boyote Toroto 25 y/o, Sporting Busov Image
Holds the midfield good enough, but still makes mistakes from time to time. Attacks from time to time but really hinders more than helps.

CM: Sutalen Desoka 32 y/o, All-Inclusive Haranguer Image
The most experienced player in the lineup aside from Bonoyok, Desoka is the proper holding midifielder that serves as the link between the defense and the offense. And that's about all there is to know about him. Signed for All-Inclusive Haranguer after a good Baptism of Fire campaign.

LM: Morefor Tofodo 27 y/o, Santos FC Image
Doesn't show up in big games, yet doesn't show up in minor games also. Surprising why he got included in the starting eleven at all. The fact that he's part of Prince Deg's retinue may have something to do with it, though.

RW: Opatop Lazarovski 24 y/o, Sheriff Tiraspol Image
Half Pridnestrovian and half Copperite, he almost played for his father's country before Prince Deg conferred upon him a peerage that convinced him to play for Copper Cuprum. He is a half-decent winger that nevertheless will not be able to get into the starting eleven of any other nation in the world.

CF: Prince Deg 26 y/o, unattached, captain
The Crown Prince of Copper Cuprum and heir apparent of Chief Gon. Prince Deg is also the head of the Copperite Football Federation, a position that he created by royal decree after creating the federation, also by royal decree. He bills himself as "the best center forward in the multiverse," but so far he hasn't done anything to back up that claim. At the moment, even Abanhfleft's Kareem Dagen plays better than Prince Deg.

LW: Tyrone Zudazet 27 y/o, Gyouza Young Lads Image
Another member of Prince Deg's retinue that nevertheless deserves his place in the starting eleven. A landed noble with a barony under his fief, Zudazet is half-Fleftic and plays for a club in the Democratic Republic while at the same time flying the Copperite flag proudly.

SUBSTITUTES
GK: Torege Bitambo
22 y/o, Sporting Busov Image
Backup keeper, currently serving as Temoyo's understudy. Could become next national keeper if something very bad happens to Temoyo.

GK: Isterek Jedogo 35 y/o, Athletic Wa Gon Image
Every World Cup team requires three keepers. Jedogo is a keeper. Jedogo is a Copperite. Jedogo is therefore eligible for being a Copperite keeper in the World Cup. And he is Copper Cuprum's third keeper in the World Cup. The end.

DEF: Tenoka Itoro 25 y/o, Gryphons Nubalochi Image
Described by Prince Deg himself as "The Big Man." Competes with Desoka for the honor of being like Adebayo "The Beast" Akinfenwa. Pushes opponents left and right for a bit of morning exercise. And don't get me started on calisthenics.

DEF: Sitere Buwata 23 y/o, Duhblakk Rovers Image
This kid has a future in midfield, what with his flashy playmaking style. He's only in defense because he's been put there by the Fleftics at Duhblakk.

DEF: Idaran Sobodo 27 y/o, Pamunas Image
Some of the players in the reserves are only there because there is a need by the World Cup Committee to have enough substitutes in every position. Sobodo is filling in for one of those emergency positions.

MID: Tabaré Zuñiga 28 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image
Well, here's a Copperite player that's actually decent but is on the bench because of Prince Deg's favoritism a mild undisclosed injury. But surely he will get to play some time for the Coppers during this World Cup?

MID: Tesere Bimobe 22 y/o, Keklavik United Image
Yet another player placed on the roster just to comply with World Cup rules.

MID: Umaga Haroba 21 y/o, Athletic Wa Gon Image
Are you still not seeing a pattern here?

MID: Tesoyet Bilamod 34 y/o, Athletic Wa Gon Image
I'm not even gonna bother with descriptions now.

FW: Aramok Todeyet 23 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image
We need backup forwards, even though none of them can possibly replace Prince Deg in the starting eleven, unless of course the Prince gets injured.

FW: Senosa Uldiba 26 y/o, Palatine Opals Image
What has Uldiba even done to warrant a spot in the World Cup qualifying squad? Nothing except being born a Copperite, that's what.

FW: Reseke Tichamba 32 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz North End Image
And to round out the World Cup squad, we have an old washed-up striker warming the bench of a Liga Ikalawa team!

FORMATION

HOME STADIUM: CHIEF GON STADIUM

Chief Gon Stadium (capacity 2,000) is the Copperite national football team's home stadium. Located in Wa Gon, the capital of Copper Cuprum, it is also the home ground of Athletic Wa Gon and all the other clubs based in the capital city.

RP PERMISSIONS
Anything except killing is fair game. Also, Prince Deg is unavailable for transfer.

.::FREE UNION OF ACRONIUS - OFFICIAL ROSTER FOR THE 73RD WORLD CUP::.

ImageImage Image

INTRODUCTION

After a disappointing end to the Free Union's run in the Flardanian Emperor's Cup, which saw team captain Jean Richelieu pick up a severe knee injury that would keep him from playing in the World Cup qualifiers, and the consequent Semarlandic Trindl Cup, which did not only see the 'Blue Boys' go home with a 0-0-3 record, but also wonderkid striker Axel Aubry drop out of the squad and onto the reserve list due in part to his studies, things aren't looking up for the Acronian national team. To make matters worse, coach Frank Vereyt, with growing pressure on his back, decided to take time off from his job, leaving a gaping hole in the management. Replacing him, Henry Coyle - the 60 year old who lead Acronian club Aberdeen FC to third place in the inaugural edition of the Acronian Legends League, despite having no national side players. With the team in dire need of reform, Coyle came up with a plan so preposterous - it might actually work. Four series of eleven Acronian players, Acronius A, B, C, and D, all playing with different tactics and formations, will each play three matches in the first half of the qualifiers - a test to deem the eleven players worthy of a spot on the starting eleven.

a well-balanced lineup containing national team
starting goalkeeper Anastasio Massali as captain,
the Free Union’s record goalscorer, Titus Blackett,
as well as three members of the Legends XI squad,
a selection of the best players in the nation’s
domestic football league.

With a powerful offensive force, but a stalwart
defense to fall back onto, the team is supported by
a tactically-positioned three-man defense that
controls the center of the pitch, but leaves the
flanks easily exploitable for wingers. Acronius A
will first play away against Electrum on MD1, and
then against Banguela, at the Metrodome, Delancey
on MD5, finishing with Transpadana in a second
away game.

Santiago, left wingback Lupe Andersen, and Fabian
Royce, who was selected as Acronius B’s team captain.

in the Acronian Legends League after its
inaugural season, is also on the team, as well
as national team substitutes Artem Karlenko,

ACRONIUS D
CAPTAIN: Max Fawden
The team with what is probably one of the irregular
formations out there, a 3-3-3-1, Acronius D’s
abnormal tactics will be interesting to see in action.
With national team winger Max Fawden as captain,
Acronius D possesses a double-midfield, with
Mason Griffiths and national team substitutes John
Cavey and Max Bittecourt forming a defensive
triangle, and national team wingers Frank Spelmeyer
and Max Fawden flanking each side of Micah
Cotterill, forming an offensive line supporting
lone striker Axel Aubry.

Your RP permissions are mine, short of death and career-ending injuries. If I can send off your players, you can send off mine. If your players can’t be booked, neither can mine. If I can have Diglett pop out from under the pitch during the match, so may you. Just make it funny/entertaining, if you don’t mind. ;)

If I haven’t posted a starting eleven for a particular game, please assume that the standard eleven are being used. You can feel free to make substitutions. (I will grant you that permission regardless of your own.)

In addition, if you need to abbreviate “Hot Skitty on Wailord Action”, the ideal way to do so is “HSOWA”. Also, like RL Brazilian players, Hot Skitty players go by just one name.

Also, you are best off not taking HSOWA too seriously.
Hot Skitty on Wailord Action Soccer presents
The Official Hot Skitty on Wailord Action National Selection
Preferred Abbreviation: HSOWA
National Anthem: Popular Potpourri (If you don’t want to play the whole thing, don’t play any of it. If you cut the anthem short, HSOWA fans will riot in your streets.)
Population: 305,412
Drives on: whatever side you’d like

If you are looking for a team that likes playing beautiful attacking soccer, Hot Skitty on Wailord Action (HSOWA) is not for you. Hot Skitty players prefer the tactic of doing whatever is within their power to keep you from scoring and claiming a set piece to lock away the win later. Possession is key to the Hot Skitty play book, with stellar defending a close second. If you do get the ball, however, expect a swarm of players ready to pry that ball away from you by whatever means possible. And for the love of the Helix Fossil, do not cede penalties to HSOWA. That will not end well.

With Hot Skitty on Wailord Action making all attempts to throw its three group stage games in the Baptism of Fire—failing miserably in one case—in protest of the host nation’s insult against the national anthem, Hot Skitty on Wailord Action will be seeking to achieve something in its World Cup qualifying debut given that it threw away its one shot at the Baptism.

All of Hot Skitty on Wailord Action’s home games will be played at Saiyū in Ever Grande. The multi-purpose arena has capacity for 22 000 people—almost two-and-a-half-times the population of Ever Grande—and has been converted into a soccer stadium for the duration of World Cup qualifiers. As a measure of hospitality, Hot Skitty on Wailord Action Soccer will provide free lodging to all visiting teams in Lilycove’s famous Cove Lily Hotel, where teams will be able to enjoy shopping at the Lilycove Department Store and fine art at the Lilycove Museum, as well as drop in on one of the largest soccer fan clubs in Hot Skitty on Wailord Action. Visiting players and staff will also be provided free passage on the Tiderip, departing from Lilycove Harbor, to get to the capital for the match.

Stvoto Latoli's World Cup 73 Qualifying Squad Released

Signs of improvement are rampant around the Maritime Empire's football system. Gu Zhahogowdoo, the top flight, is rising in the UICA league rankings, and the Golden Crows managed to escape the Cup of Harmony group stage. But how will things go for the Stvoto Latoli national team this time around. A few old-timers remain, but in many ways we are seeing a huge changing of the guard. It will be the challenging responsibility of Lobyuseistvooshu stars Shyusoolootru Lyu and Usama O'Bearga to lead by example for the young guns.

The aforementioned Lyu returns to the national team fray after having been left out for the Cup of Harmony (due in no small part to a red card in the final game of qualifying during the World Cup 72 cycle). His earth-shaking transfer to Lobyu in the recent Zhahogowdoo offseason has put his name back on the lips of pundits and fans alike. Will he succeed at his new club? They certainly have been outperforming his old club (Vezhidrupa) lately. Will any of this affect his national team captaincy duties. Time will tell.

Manager

Image

Brendan al Tameer - 50 Years Old
Mr. al Tameer has Arab-Irish ethnicity and has Muzira'a Ba'aydi nationality.

Fun-loving, boisterous, and media-friendly, it might come as a surprise to an outsider that Stvoto Latoli's current manager is among the world's most tactically conservative minds. An Arab-Irishman born in Teach Iarann, al Tameer categorically rejects the maxim that "a good offense is the best defense." Preferring muscle-bound enforcers to pace or technical ability, al Tameer grew up in his home country of Muzira'a Ba'aydah but moved to the Stvoto Latolisi capital Tobyumosyu after being selected for military service. It was there, among the Stvoto Latolisi Navy's intramural leagues, that he began to formulate his football ideology. (Incidentally, the same influences can be seen in the general instincts of the Hozastvu club side, which represents the Navy. Fans of the Maroon-Reds are often deeply uncomfortable when they witness their side venture forward for any reason.) al Tameer famously regards the nil-nil draw as a result as good as a victory, and this is in keeping with his Navy footballing education. At any rate, the Arab-Irishman generally makes selections in his own image: stocky, powerful, and often quite dirty athletes uninterested in sprinting or one-touch passing. He views tactical understanding as critical in his teams. And yet, despite all these utterly uninspiring and aesthetically displeasing attributes, al Tameer is well liked by the media, if not by the fans. Genial and warm, and with a light sense of humor, he famously enjoys (rather than resents) giving press conferences. Interviews after the many losses that Stvoto Latoli should be expected to suffer during its halcyon years as a competitive national side are sure to be as friendly and good-natured as those after the rare victory or draw. When asked what he plans to do after leaving his post as the Gold-Whites' manager, he often intimates that he might leave the sport altogether to spend more time with his hobby of woodworking. Nobody is entirely sure if he is serious or is using humor to dodge the question. There is no doubt that both Cóiméid (based in his city of birth, Teach Iarann) and Hozastvu (the outfit based on the Navy Headquarters site where he spent so much time as a serviceman) would be elated to secure his services if he ever departs his current post. However, for the time being this is obviously pure speculation.

Kits

Image

These are the kits used by Stvoto Latoli, provided by Audioslavian sportswear manufacturer Kirola. The metallic gold and white strip is used for all home matches and occasional away matches, whereas the all-dark-blue change strip is used for most away matches but never at home. An unpaid intern in a dingy back office will toss a coin to decide which uniform will be worn in the case of neutral venue matches such as those of the Copa Rushmori, Cup of Harmony, or World Cup finals.

Stadium

Trogu How - Tobyumosyu
An all-seated stadium located in Stvoto Latoli, Trogu How has a capacity of 76,000.

By most accounts a tragic accident waiting to happen, Trogu How (which is Stvoto Latolisi for "Irish Lane") is a rickety superstructure in the heart of Tobyumosyu's dangerous but historic Thutrezhertrida District, home to a large Muzira'a Ba'aydi Irish immigrant population. Officially owned by the Thutrezhertrida Cultural Council and located upon the grounds of the Council-associated Irish Social Unity Center, the stadium is an infamous death trap. Constructed out of assorted timber, loose brush, tremendous sheets of fabric, and patched up with wattle and daub, Trogu How's massive Curva Sud (Italian is spoken nowhere in Stvoto Latoli, but the term has been appropriated here) stretches along the south side of the park's remarkably small pitch and seats the vast majority of the venue's capacity while the main administrative building on the ISUC campus (on the roof of which there is a steep stand where two thousand spectators can be held) lines the north side of the field. The grass of the pitch is Trogu How's major selling point - well-watered and fast, and kept in famously perfect condition, tenant club Gerthamasa Boyseh have punched far above their weight in the Stvoto Latolisi top division almost exclusively because they are able to use the stadium as a fortress, playing lightning-fast counterattacking football up and down the small pitch and felling numerous better clubs as rowdy fans watch on.

Tactics

For this qualifying cycle, al Tameer merely tweaks his usual variation on his favorite formation, the 5-4-1. While the Gold-Whites will not strictly be a defend-only squad (as Uriell and O'Bearga have the green light to wander freely into the attacking third, and Hyumowthagoo and Yutha will use their youthful legs up and down the wings to great effect), the midfield pairing of Ebash and Ouiva'penghefa is a clue to al Tameer's conservative tactics. The pairing, placed directly in front of a young and inexperienced but highly athletic back three, is obviously designed to prevent opponents from scoring. Meanwhile, in attack, Tastvu Zhooheizhyu cashes in on his big transfer to Soldarian FC and reclaims the number nine shirt.

Please: always consult Stvoto Latoli's latest RP. A lineup for the next match will be posted, updated with any tactical shifts or injuries to the squad. This daily lineup should trump anything listed above.

Information for the Foreign Reader

Stvoto Latoli is a geographically and culturally diverse federation of countries cobbled together politically if not culturally. The Maritime Empire prides itself not only on the geographic breadth of its territory but on the numerous narratives embedded into its history. Read on!

The barbaric Stvoto Latolisi people are aggressive scavengers living at sea. Likely East Asian in terms of ethnic ancestry, they typically have straight, shiny black hair. Their faces are almost always concealed by traditional makeup patterns: men wear a pattern of diagonally alternating white and metallic gold, women wear a quartered pattern of navy and blue. (Footballers, incidentally, forego this makeup while playing the sport.) Their language is notoriously difficult to learn, while it only contains twenty-some basic sounds, all words are formed from abstract relative concepts explained in hieroglyphic form. Rather than letters representing vowels or consonants, letters represent words or phrases. For the purposes of intelligibility, dispatches released for the international public's consumption will adopt an Anglicization policy for Stvoto Latolisi words.

Stvoto Latoli's background is mired in murky prehistory. The legend goes that in an ancient land, a specific group of humans, united by some unknown faith, gradually became greatly feared for their brutality, greed, and mercilessness, until some political event occurred that resulted in the religious practitioners' expulsion out to sea. These people evidently could never find a new place to live, as word of their terrible nature had spread worldwide, and no other nation allowed them to land. So the early Stvoto Latolisis simply accepted their reality, and began to construct massive wooden rafts upon which they could build a large city in which to live. A less ambitious, less devout, less fervent people might have failed in this seemingly impossible task, but they succeeded, and the maritime city-state of Stvoto Latoli was born.

Since, the ruthless people descended from that original group have become less devout; in fact, the religion they followed has been completely forgotten. But their merciless nature has not changed. Once the economy and society of this new country stabilized, the Stvoto Latolisis united to make their floating raft city more flexible and mobile, and eventually it became possible to fragment districts of the city into separate "islands" and direct the superstructure across the oceans to whatever location they preferred. They then began the process of plundering as many vulnerable peoples as they could find. A famous legend explains that the Kagdaz witch Baba Yaga witnessed one of these such pillagings. According to the story, she visited Stvoto Latoli during a time when they were conquering and destroying a race of merpeople below the sea.

In recent years, however, the Stvoto Latolisis have changed approach. (No one is quite sure why.) They have continued to conquer other nations seen as susceptible, but rather than looting and destroying these countries, they instead have looked for ways to mostly preserve the culture of their conquered possessions, while maintaining strict political and military control. They refer to these incorporated possessions as "vassal states."

Various vassal states have been won and lost in the last century. At the current present, the attentions of the Stvoto Latolisi navy and air forces have been occupied by the large vassal states of Muzira'a Ba'aydah and the Pazhujeb Islands. Their relationship with the Muzira'a Ba'aydi is moderately good; the Arab and Irish country appears mostly happy to be able to preserve their culture and avoid the devastation suffered by other possessions. That mutual amicability is non-existent, however, between the Pazhujeb Islands and their overlords. The Pazhujebis have proven rebellious and troublesome, and prison camps are filled to nearly 250% capacity.

We shall briefly explain the cultures of these two complex vassal states.

Muzira'a Ba'aydah consists of two territories, typically referred to as the Northern Territory and the Southern Territory. The large Northern Territory lies in an environmentally tropical zone, and is mostly covered by jungle. No one is quite sure why, but a group of Irish settlers have lived in the area for thousands of years. The other territory, the Southern Territory, is much smaller, and lies on the northeastern corner of a moderately-sized subarctic continent. From this state emerged the Arab people who eventually traveled to the Northern Territory, and began to peacefully settle alongside the native Irish. As these peoples united into one culture, the Irish began to emigrate the opposite direction, and by now there are more or less equal numbers of each ethnicity in each of the two territories. (Place names, incidentally, still follow the old origins: the Northern Territory is filled with towns with Irish names, and the Southern with Arab names.)

The Muzira'a Ba'aydis are quite conservative and religious. They have developed a unique religion which is organized around The Myth of the River, an old story. In this myth, a golden boat travels down a wide, wide river, but the further it travels, the wider the river becomes and eventually the members of the boat do not know if they are still in the river or at sea. This is a critical metaphor for the attainability of the afterlife - one cannot know when he or she has reached it.

Pazhujebis, on the other hand, are the largely the descendants of North Indian expellees of Rome. They settled the Pazhujeb Islands about two millenia ago. They have light to medium brown skin, dark hair, and brown eyes. All Pazhujebis, men and women, wear purple turbans, though like the face paint of the Stvoto Latolisis, these turbans are forgone during sporting events. There are multiple ethnic groups here. The Mahathan Pazhujebis are by a slight margin the largest group; they consider themselves to be descendants of wealthy entrepreneurs within the Roman Empire and as such feel a general sense of superiority. Following close behind in terms of number are the African Pazhujebis, who are full or partial descendants of Yoruba immigrants who have arrived over the course of the last millennium. Finally, the smaller group of the Zahuji Pazhujebis also consider themselves to be descendants of Indians expelled from the Roman Empire, however, they have rejected Roman social influences due to lingering resentment over the expulsion, and have tried to culturally return to their North Indian roots.

Geneticists have studied the sequences of Mahathans and Zahujis and concluded that there is no fundamental racial difference between the two clades, but that does not stop Pazhujebis from perceiving strong distinctions between the two, and the belief that Mahathans and Zahujis are ethnically separate remains heavily prevalent.

While football is incredibly popular in both Muzira'a Ba'aydah and the Pazhujeb Islands, it is a developing sport in Stvoto Latoli, where their partially-mechanized form of rowing has always been the country's most popular sport. That being the case, Stvoto Latoli is by far the most economically and culturally powerful country in the federation, and so clubs are able to train local players more effectively and purchase Muzira'a Ba'aydi or Pazhujebi players away from their home sources. This serves as an equalizing factor. Although the phenomenon has long resulted in the national team being demographically rather short on Stvoto Latolisis, this current squad is the most equitable ever. The usual plethora of Muzira'a Ba'aydis still form a plurality of ten among the twenty-three-player team, but there are a respectable seven Pazhujebis and six Stvoto Latolisis.

Demonyms are slightly complicated. In terms of citizenship, it is acceptable to refer to anyone in Muzira'a Ba'aydah, the Pazhujeb Islands, or the city-state of Stvoto Latoli as "Stvoto Latolisi," but in terms of describing ethnicity, referring to somebody as such implies that they are from the actual raft complex. (In the same way, "Stvoto Latoli" may refer to either the small raft city-state of Tobyumosyu, or it may refer to the broader empire as a whole.) It is not, however, typically considered offensive when foreigners refer to anybody from the Maritime Empire as Stvoto Latolisi, even if they are actually Muzira'a Ba'aydis or Pazhujebis.

The TSLB ("Tazi’shu Stvoto Latolisi Balomobi") is the organizing association for the national football team and the league structure for club teams. There is no such thing as "the Stvoto Latoli FA" - what you mean to say is "the TSLB." Among fans, the most popular nicknames for the national team are "Gu Milusatratu Gerhoomow'thatho" (or "The Golden Crows" in English) and "Gu Milusatratu-Zootyusoyzyu" (or "The Gold-Whites" in English).

But he was wrong. It was he who was the traitor, he the dictator, he the true tyrant. I returned to above the waves and presented the location of the merpeople's treasure to the dictator of Stvoto Latoli, who greedily took the coordinates without thanking me. As I leapt atop my broom, I could already hear the wailing of the merpeople from the depths; their last shred of dignity, the last remnant of their kingdom, their last symbol of hope; raped by the tyrannical humans.
