Royalty Hearts Arena

Location: Dystopian, Minecraft Miners
Capacity: 29,650

Built as a tribute to the failures of monarchy, Royalty Hearts Stadium features a 27-foot long display of everything the monarchy did wrong during its time in power. The ballpark is the largest in Minecraft Miners, by more than 4,000 seats. It also hosts the Foreboding University Royals. This ballpark is located near the great Creeper River, which flows beautifully through the Queen Crazy Mountain Range.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my runscorers: Yes
Choose my lineup: No

Godmod scoring events: No

ABANHFLEFT REVOLUTION
Abanhfleft men's national baseball team

Hope springs eternal, as the quote says. And indeed hope did spring when the Abanhfleft Revolution went back to Gregoryisgodistan in yet another bid to win a trophy for the Fleftic Baseball Federation trophy cabinet, but the rampant newcomers Schiltzberg, who eventually won the entire series, put a stop to the Revolution's plans. Now the national baseball team prepares for the journey to Saintland, where the team finally hopes yet again for a trophy. If only something doesn't screw up their performance...

Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Team name: Abanhfleft Revolution
Nickname: Revolutionaries (common), Revolters (derogatory)
Official history: This will be Abanhfleft's fourth time participating in the International Baseball Slam. Huzzah for the Revolution!
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +2. Abanhfleft has returned to the more conservative attacking style favored by the Keppler-era team.

The entire coaching staff of the Abanhfleft Revolution had been sacked by the Abanhfleft Baseball Federation following the team's failure to qualify in IBS VII. Rehoboam Zimmermann, longtime member of the national team, had been tapped as the new manager following his retirement from international baseball, and he had been given free reign to recruit any other staff member that he believed capable of bringing back some glory to this now-mocked national side. This is also an opportunity for Zimmermann to steal some thunder from the football players that had considerably stolen a lot of baseball's thunder in the Democratic Republic.

MANAGER - REHOBOAM ZIMMERMANN

ASSISTANT MANAGER/BENCH COACH - JAIME GROVER

FIRST BASE COACH - STEFAN MCKENNY

THIRD BASE COACH - KURTIS LINGENFELTER

BATTING COACH - ELLIOTT WETTMORE

OPENING DAY - TIGERS - PHOENIXES LIVE BLOG

In another match in the two nations' storied rivalry, the Tigers and Phoenixes open up the thirty-fourth WBC at Tyler Rocke - can the Tigers get off to a strong start on their home turf?

30 minutes before game time

Tonight's lineups:

PHOENIXES (EQS): Blazer 8, Amistad 7, Riis 3, Starcloud 2, Apple Daisy 4, Celina 6, Jackson 5, Bright Harp 9, Indigo Lightning 1
TIGERS (SLL): Fiers 6, Polanco 3, Walker 5, Patrick 7, Trabajen 2, Pierce 8, Duffy 9, Colham 4, Hogan 1

TOP 1: Blazer strikes out swinging, Trevor Amistad grounds out to first base, Alyssa Riis doubles to left-center, Starcloud strikes out looking

Strong start for Hogan, whose fastball/cutter combination looks exceptionally deadly after Blazer whiffs on three pitches, and Trevor Amistad's past experience with Hogan looking moot when he taps weakly to Maddie Polanco. His first pitch to slugging first baseman Alyssa Riis, though, is a up-and-away slider that Riis lines into the left-center gap, but he recovers to strike Starcloud out on three pitches - fastball, cutter, cutter

BOT 1: Xander Fiers walks, Maddie Polanco flies out to right (Fiers to second), Logan Walker flies out to center (Fiers to third), Jason Patrick strikes out swinging (wild pitch, Patrick to first, Fiers scores), Michael Trabajen pops out to first base

Indigo Lightning looks decent with five nasty-looking pitches around the plate, three of really good quality and two decent ones - Xander Fiers lays off the stuff down-and-in and walks on a ten-pitch battle, though. Maddie Polanco squares up a fastball but gets under it, although the alert Fiers advances to second and then third when Logan Walker does the same.

Jason Patrick looks helpless as he misses a curve in the dirt by six feet, but Starcloud can't hang onto it and Xander Fiers comes dashing home.

TOP 2: Apple Daisy strikes out looking, Celina strikes out swinging, Matt Jackson grounds out to first base

Kyle Hogan seems to be avoiding his slider entirely now, although Celina got to see a pretty good changeup that had a surprising amount of sink to it. Still, he whiffs Apple Daisy and Celina on a combined nine pitches before Matt Jackson taps a cutter harmlessly to first, shattering his bat in the process.

BOT 2: Emily Pierce singles to left, Owen Duffy strikes out swinging, Michelle Colham strikes out looking, Kyle Hogan strikes out looking

Emily Pierce guts out an opposite-field single on a really good cutter and makes it to first, whereupon Indigo Lightning needs just nine pitches to strike out the next three batters - the pegasus' curve and sinker in particular look really good. This will be a pitchers' duel, I feel.

TOP 3: Bright Harp flies out to left, Indigo Lightning grounds out to shortstop, Blazer hits a home run to left, Trevor Amistad doubles to right-center, Alyssa Riis walks, Starcloud walks, Apple Daisy grounds out to second base

Hogan gets two quick outs with the cutter, but knowing he'll have to mix in his slider eventually, tries one to Blazer on a 1-0 count - it's crushed 398 feet to left field and quietly shelved for the day. Hogan, making his first international start, looks rattled at having given up a lead, and his next pitch, a cutter, doesn't cut enough to avoid the bat of Trevor Amistad and get knocked into right-center for a double. Hogan, now overthrowing a bit, walks Riis and Starcloud before a visit to the mound clears his head enough for him to jam Apple Daisy with a cutter.

BOT 3: Xander Fiers strikes out swinging, Maddie Polanco triples to center, Logan Walker singles to right (Polanco scores), Jason Patrick grounds into a 5-4-3 double play

At first, Indigo Lightning seems no sign of faltering, striking out Xander Fiers with the fastball and curve that have served her so well. With an 0-2 count, though, she misplaces a fastball meant to be inside, and Maddie Polanco hits a fly-ball to center - still, it's only when recent hero Blazer's losing the drifting fly in the sun does Polanco sprint to third with a triple, and Logan Walker bloops it into right to break the tie, although the pegasus recovers and gets Patrick to ground into a double-play to kill the rally.

TOP 4: Celina walks, Matt Jackson strikes out looking, Bright Harp strikes out swinging, Indigo Lightning strikes out swinging

Kyle Hogan still looks a bit shaky walking Celina on four pitches, but Jackson whiffs on five, Bright Harp on three, and the pitcher Indigo Lightning on six. While Hogan's regained his fastball and cutter, the slider cannot be trusted to stay down and the changeup isn't a pitch he can sneak in too many of. He may be in trouble later, but would Cameron take him out so early in his first game?

BOT 4: Michael Trabajen strikes out swinging, Emily Pierce pops out to shallow center, Owen Duffy flies out to left

Indigo Lightning still looks pretty good too, although her command doesn't seem as sharp as it's been in the past. Still, Trabajen strikes out quickly, and Pierce and Duffy can't get much going either.

TOP 5: Blazer walks, Trevor Amistad strikes out looking, Alyssa Riis pops out to catcher, Blazer caught stealing second

Hogan's calmed down too, although he occasionally overthrows and only has two working pitches tonight. Still, he should be good for six innings of two-run ball. I'd be happy with six innings of two-run ball. Five innings of one-run ball wouldn't be that bad, either. We've got Anna Stevens.

BOT 5: Michelle Colham grounds out to first, Kyle Hogan singles to left, Xander Fiers singles to right (Hogan out at third), Maddie Polanco flies out to left-center

No pinch-hitting for Hogan is odd, and so is Hogan's choice to try to slide into third after Fiers dumped a single down the right-field line - the pitcher, after surprising everyone with a line drive to shallow left, is gunned down easily and Maddie Polanco misses a home run by five or six feet. A little wind and smarter baserunning and...that's a three-run home run.

TOP 6: Starcloud doubles to right, Apple Daisy lines out to shortstop, Celina strikes out looking, Matt Jackson singles to right-center (Starcloud out at home)

Apple Daisy's been having a rough day, with a strike-out, ground-out, and now a line-out with Starcloud on second after flaring a yappy little double to right. Celina goes down before Matt Jackson sits on a fastball and lines it into the right-center gap - Owen Duffy manages to cut it off quickly and hurl a strike at Michael Trabajen, who tags Starcloud to preserve the lead. Hogan should be taken out.

BOT 6: Logan Walker strikes out swinging, Jason Patrick lines out to center, Michael Trabajen grounds out to second

Another easy inning for Indigo Lightning, who's looking very sharp - the only bad pitch she makes of eight total is lined straight at Blazer. But she's still down two-one. Can the Tigers hold on?

TOP 7: Bright Harp singles to right, Indigo Lightning sacrifices to third (Bright Harp to second), Blazer strikes out swinging, Trevor Amistad hits a home run to center, Alyssa Riis triples to right (Riis out at home)

FFS KYLE HOGAN GODDANGIT WHY WHY WHY

While we can't blame Kyle Hogan for Bright Harp's gritty single to right, nor can we blame him for trying to throw fastballs to try to make Indigo Lightning's bunt less effective (which didn't really work as he'd planned), NOR we can we blame him for striking out Blazer on five pitches, the fastball/cutter combination looking effective even though it was already the seventh inning and he'd survived on two pitches, but...

Despite the fastball/cutter working, he decided to try a second-pitch slider to Trevor Amistad, who lined it into the center-field seats. Three-two. For some reason, Alex Cameron kept him in, and Alyssa Riis rewarded his loyalty by crushing a high fastball to right-field, wheeling around the bases before Owen Duffy bailed Hogan out again by nailing the first baseman at home.

BOT 7: Emily Pierce walks, Owen Duffy flies out to left, Pierce steals second, Michelle Colham strikes out swinging, PH-SS Travis Faulkner singles to right (Pierce to third), SS-2B Xander Fiers singles to left (Pierce scores, Faulkner to second), Maddie Polanco strikes out looking

But luckily, we get the game tied again! Emily Pierce continues to be an on-base machine, walking and stealing second, and with two outs, Travis Faulkner hits a ground ball between first and second that somehow trickles through, advancing Pierce to third and putting the pinch-hitter on with what could be called a single. And with two outs, Xander Fiers comes up in the clutch, lining a solid single to left to score Pierce and tie the game back at three.

TOP 8: Brendan Fortin pitching Starcloud strikes out looking, Apple Daisy flies out to center, Celina walks, Matt Jackson lines out to first

Finally Kyle Hogan is taken out, and Brendan Fortin is put in - hopefully he had a short leash, not that it matters as a Celina walk is all he gives up. The righty's sidearm fastball wreaked havoc on the Equestrian bats, which is good to see. He only threw fourteen pitches though, so hopefully he'll get another inning.

BOT 8: Cirius pitching[/] Logan Walker singles to right-center, Jason Patrick strikes out swinging, Michael Trabajen pops out to first, Emily Pierce flies out to left

Cirius comes in for Indigo Lightning, but although Logan Walker lines a fastball into right-center, nobody else can do much of note, Cirius' command looking pinpoint. Both teams have some pretty good bullpens from the scouting reports - Fortin, Vasquez, Rhoderick, Lindberg, and Li are standouts for the Tigers, and the entire Phoenix bullpen is solid.

TOP 9: [i]Corey Lindberg pitching Bright Harp grounds out to third, Anna Stevens pitching PH-LF (Amistad to RF) Ashley Hamilton strikes out swinging, Blazer grounds out to second

Corey Lindberg comes in as the nominal LOOGY and gets a weak ground-out with his sinker, before the rookie Anna Stevens comes in and gets two quick outs. Could Cameron please leave a reliever in for multiple innings this time? Brendan Fortin could have handled the ninth inning pretty easily. Neither team's getting any real chances right now to break the deadlock. Can the Tigers take the lead, or will we go to extras?

BOT 9: Amanda Hill pitching PH-RF Tobias Wagner doubles to left, PH-C Albert Ford lines into a 5-4 double play, Travis Faulkner strikes out looking

Well, now you know. Tobias Wagner doubled to left, and Albert Ford almost singled in the game-winning run - but alas, Matt Jackson made a diving snag and picked Wagner off second, and Amanda Hill recovered to strike out the hard-hitting Travis Faulkner. So close, but to extras we'll go.

TOP 10: Adam Li pitching Trevor Amistad strikes out swinging, Alyssa Riis grounds out to third, Starcloud pops out to first

FFS ALEX CAMERON, LEARN TO USE YOUR RELIEVERS PROPERLY - Adam Li does pretty well, but Anna Stevens is a starter who could've gotten five outs pretty easily. If she falters, you've got some more relievers in the pen.

BOT 10: Xander Fiers flies out to right, Maddie Polanco singles to center, Logan Walker grounds into a 6-4-3 double play

Ugh, not again - against a weary-looking Amanda Hill, Xander Fiers smashes a fastball right into the glove of Trevor Amistad and Maddie Polanco slaps one up the middle...but Logan Walker taps into a double play to end the threat.

TOP 11: Apple Daisy lines out to second, Chris Cedeno pitching Celina triples to right-center, Matt Jackson walks, Troy Vasquez pitching, PH-3B Irontooth walks, Ashley Hamilton strikes out swinging, Blazer strikes out swinging

Adam Li still in, and he gets Apple Daisy to line out for second - is she oh-fer-five? I think she is. That's not good for the second baseman. Chris Cedeno comes in to face some lefties, which isn't a bad move - but Adam Li is probably more effective anyways. Maybe I just don't think he'll be able to throw past these guys. Li has actual control and breaking balls along with his speed.

OH FFS

Celina lines the first Cedeno fastball she sees (which is the first pitch she sees, what did you expect) into right-center and makes it to third base. That's not good at all. And now Cedeno is overthrowing to Matt Jackson - it's 3-0

A five-pitch walk and there's runners on the corners with one out. Alex Cameron is going to bring in the fireman - good call. I hope we make it out of this. Troy Vasquez coming in and gets an 0-2 count on Irontooth. We're in safe hands.

And he lost control 0_o - Irontooth walks on seven pitches. Ermigerd

3-2 on Ashley Hamilton - Vasquez's command isn't there, but boy does he have good movement on his pitches

SWING AND A MISS STRIKE THREE, two outs now but bases still loaded

0-1 on a fastball
0-2 on a slider
STRIKE THREE AND THE TIGERS GET OUT OF IT

BOT 11: Hot Stuff pitching Jason Patrick strikes out swinging, Michael Trabajen strikes out swinging, Emily Pierce walks, [i]TOBIAS WAGNER DOUBLES TO LEFT-CENTER (PIERCE SCORES), TIGERS WIN

Hot Stuff, the closer, is in. Interesting choice, we'll see what happens.

Pair o' whiffs. To the twelfth we go! Here comes the third, it's a 2-2 count!

Ooh, Pierce draws another walk. Intriguing. 1-0 on Wagner, fastball

This is very exaggerated and opinions are IC only.

Struggles

In preparation for the upcoming World Baseball Classic, I took a trip down nostalgia lane, reading some of my works documenting the national team during the... tumultuous WBC 32. It was not predominantly happy, as I reflected on some poor results, and I can imagine my anger at the time. However, lines like "we, the people of San Llera, wish you a slow, painful death" in regards to the baseball team seem somewhat unnecessary. Sure, it is understandable to be mad at them for underperforming but this... this may just have been a bit too far. At least, that it was I was thinking before this WBC started.

I was also thinking that we might have a chance heading into this WBC. Our group opponents seemed pretty easy. Schiltzberg? Easy sweep. Nassau-Hessen? No match for us. Kaboomlandia? Ha. Like we'd lose to them. And I'm not even sure Namber knows what baseball is.

And then there was Cinnapa-Lussadria. They were an easy kill, even for a team like Kaboomlandia. They were just awful. Terrible. Trash. Couldn't play baseball at all. This team doesn't even deserve to be here, despite all nations getting a spot if they apply.

Cinnapa-Lussadria was also first on the schedule. That's nice. San Llera can play a few exhibition games before the real thing. Get some batting practice. Play 27 innings of baseball, and maybe get prepared for future series.

Now, I sit here, trying to maintain a voice of calm, and I think that my words two years ago were soft on these assholes. So, another open letter to the S** L**** N******* B******* T*** (OOC: San Llera National Baseball Team):

Dear *** ***** ******** ******** ****,

Once, I loved-

OK, I'm done with the "maintaining a voice of calm".

I hope you all fall into a hole and die. All of you. Even you, Angel Ventura, who didn't play a single inning. You probably played a part in this, so you, like the rest of the team, should fall in a hole and die. You are a disgrace to the prideful people of San Llera. Please die soon. Preferably die a slow and painful death, though falling into a hole and dying would be satisfactory. You know what else would be satisfactory? A win. Yeah, that's right, a win. Does that word sound unfamiliar? Why can't you win? Oh well, you
can die a slow, painful death. Everyone hates you. Please die.

Sincerely,

Post Series

It wasn't a happy one with the youngest player,Eli Williams, who had just gone through his Shadownian elections for RoY last year for his plays in the FBM,watched him and his team get sweep on their entry games at the gardens of Ridora. The Fruit Bat Mafia took a good one last year, although they were cut from playoffs by the last game. That two had gotten the post-rookie's emotions flaring.

The others were not happy. Not a glass was poured in the last night, although the team withheld an ever shining ray of hope. Of skill. Charlie Chay was out somewhere, practicing his ambidextrous abilities at the yard. At least someone had a bright idea. He started the second game off better than the previous starter, the teams main man. Charlie let it go with a walk, then the following batter drilled a ball near the left field foul line. A double for the hitter, and a run scored. An inning later Chay was removed from the game just to have the reliver staff, unprepared, allowed the final three runs to shut themselves down again.

Anacondas Crush Skeckoa, Sweep First Series

It couldn't have been a btter start to the tournament. The first game saws its conclusion be a 6-4 win for the Anacondas. The second game was a lot more tense, going in to 12 innings, before a home run by PewDie Minecart sealed a 3-1 win for Frenline Delpha. In the final game, Frenline Delpha blasted Sceckoa out of the water, and proved wy they are they are the 29th team in the multi-verse.

When Lafringe came up in the bottom of the fifth, the Anacondas were only up 2-1. Although, he had two teammates who made in on the basepath. First, Marketer singled to left field through a scorching gorund ball through the left side. Then, Malfastern stepped up and cracked a hard single to right. This also allowed Marketer to advance to third. That's when Lafringe stepped up. He took a huge crack at the first ball, but it sailed foul. The next pitch was a breaking ball that ended up just outside the strikezone. Unfotunately for the pitcher, his next pitch was a fastball placed right over the middle of the plate. Lafringe saw thsi, and he crushed a home run that cleared the left field fence and then some. The lead was now 5-1.

The bottom of the sixth found the Anacondas adding three more runs to their insurance, making the game 8-1. Minecart started the inning with a hard gorund ball that reached all the way to the wall, allowing him to cruise to second easily. After Flooris flew out, the Anaconda's pitcher, Deman stepped up. He two strikes before he lined a hard grounder that skipped over the first base bag. He safetly reached first. However, Minecart held up at second. This brought up the top of the order, in Marketer. He took two balls, and then he jumped on a hig curveball. He clobbered it, and it traveled deep into roght field. It flew at least 412 feet, according to some calculations. The inning ended on a ground out and a fly out, and the game moved into the seventh.

It started for Skeckoa when Beltre doubled to deep left field. Walker III cam up next, and he doubled to right field, over the third base bag. This allowed Beltre to come around from second to score, narrowing the gap to 8-2. Walker was feeling it because his next move was a sliding steal into third base. before even one pitch was thrown to the next batter, Walker was hauling his butt down to third. He slid in under the tag, and was called safe. Petrofëm'keu was the batter who followed Walker, and he hit a high fly ball that ended up in deep right field. Minecart was under it, but the throw to home was not in time to nail the tagging Walker. The sac fly made it 8-3. The inning was not over for Skeckoa yet. The next batter, Alemán, doubled to right field. After a line-out to first base, the pitcher, Peña stepped to the plate. on the first pitch he saw, he crushed it to left field. It got around Frekline, and Peña was able to record a triple. This also allowed Alemán to score. The score was now 8-4. That was the last she wrote for Skeckoa that inning.

In the bottome half of the inning, the Anacondas started out with Frekline scorching a homer that just cleared the right field fence. Next, Cunningpie singled, and Travester doubled to left field. On a close play at the plate, Cunningpie was called safe, but the manager of the other team didn't agree with that. He started getting up in plate umpire Terry Williams's face. Williams didn't like this, however, so he threw manager Gerónimo Cruz out of the game. Play resumed, and the score was 10-4 Anacondas. Frenline would plate two runners in the eighth, and the game went into the ninth inning with a 12-4 score.

Skeckoa was not going to be beat that easily, though. It started with Walker crushing a solid home run onto the left field concourse. This was meet with various booing, but he rounded the bases anyway, cutting the lead to 12-5. After a strike out, Alemán doubled to right field. After another strike out, Peña, attempting to keep the game going, doubled and scored Alemán. This bought the score to 12-6. However, Peña took too big of a lead off of second, and he was picked off, ending the ballgame.

The winning pitcher in this affair was Deman while Karmaks recorded his first save. Deman went 8 innings, gave up 6 hits, four runs, struck out twelve, and hit one with a pitch. Karmaks went one inning, gave up three hits, two runs, and struck out two. The losing pitcher was Peña. He went eight innings, gave up 18 hits, 12 runs, five strike-outs, and he hit one with a pitch. Notable batters for the Anacondas were Marketer, going 3-5 with a home run and three RBIs, Minecart going 3-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Lafringe, who went 2-5 with a triple, home run, and four RBIs. Frenline Delpha will play a three game homestand against Alastonia, next.
I don't know how long I'll be back, but I just thought I'd stop in and say hi, at least.

TCR: Max Danks, 2B

Born: July 31, 1965, Zagunis, Denison - Drafted 242th in the 1984 draft by Northern Emerald

Max Danks was never a guy with a lot of prestige, but he somehow hustled his way into being a mainstay for early Tigers teams. The sort of player you couldn't help but root for no matter what team you were on, Danks' professionalism and enthusiasm for the game manifested itself in a number of different ways - including twelve steals of home despite speed that was only above-average. He did all of the little things at an MVP level, and hard work added onto his natural talents - defense and contact - as he slowly became one of the best, and most underrated, players in the league.

Declaring for the draft right after high school, which was likely a poor decision (even Danks admits that he probably wasn't ready for the league), Danks was nevertheless drafted early...that's a lie. He was drafted in the eleventh of twelve rounds, by Northern Emerald, who was looking for a guy who could be the utility-man for their lowest of three minor league teams while simultaneously flashing some upside, which Danks, as a high school player with strong defense and a developing hit tool, did.

Danks performed passably in 1984, as injuries and promotions gave him more playing time than many would have liked. He hit .298 and played good defense, but did little else. He became a fan favorite, as predicted, for his grit and a number of game-winning hits, mostly singles. Northern Emerald decided he deserved a shot, and sent him to Level 2 to play with acclaimed hitting coach Jay Berlin. Berlin did well with him, and his average was raised to .329 - but the team, against Berlin's wishes, kept him there the entire year to improve his defense, figuring he'd only be able to make it as a versatile bench piece.

He earned a promotion the year after, and after years of hard work, his baserunning finally clicked, as he became one of the most alert runners in the league (with improved speed as well). He also posted the highest ISO of his career, which was .105, but still. And the next year, he received the call - not the call he wanted, but instead a notification that he was being dealt to struggling Nandaozhou Athletic for aging lefty reliever Kendall White. But luckily, soon after Nandaozhou decided to give him a shot as their starting second baseman. His strong defense made him a decent starter, and Nandaozhou kept him around. The next year was a step up, and in 1989, his third season in the big leagues, he had a breakout year, hitting over .320 and stealing thirty-five bases. The year after, Danks continued to improve, hitting .327 with improved speed and a new best in power and being selected for the national team.

Under the tutelage of standout manager Jeff Bartlett, the team surprised everyone in 1991, going 89-62 and making it to the playoffs before being unceremoniously swept by the New Llama Wizards. Danks continued to make a name for himself by hitting .350, one of few bright spots in the suddenly-quiet Nandaozhou offense. But after a horrific start to 1992, Bartlett was controversially fired and Jon Bowen brought in. Bowen's policies of heavily favoring veterans destroyed the clubhouse, and Danks left after 1992 to sign with the Penbrooke Warriors.

Danks looked better than ever for Penbrooke, coming out of nowhere to win the batting title in 1994 after a mediocre 1993. Unfortunately, poor management meant that a promising young core for Penbrooke never really bloomed, and Danks only made the playoffs in 1996 (his team once again being swept at the hands of the Wizards). But by the end of his contract, Danks was in obvious decline despite being just thirty-two. Numerous injuries started to mess with his batting stroke and mobility, which were the two most important parts of his game.

Nobody wanted to take a flyer on the second baseman, and he decided to get a few important surgeries to stretch out his career a few more seasons. After a one-year stint in Eirelia to warm back up, which he did in style, leading the Alice Waters Comets to the title, he signed with Nikcoro, who wanted a second baseman in between retired club legend Justin Vanderbilt and top prospect Ben Ramirez, for five million over three years. He performed well for a thirty-five-year-old who'd never had many tools, but Ramirez was too good to ignore and Danks was sent off to Nandaozhou after a semifinals run for struggling fifth starter James McClellan (25), who'd rehired Jeff Bartlett and were trying to retool.

The deal in 2001 looked like a rehash of Danks-for-White - but the other way around. McClellan posted a 3.60 ERA, a 10-8 record, and decent peripherals, while Danks struggled. But Danks returned to his old all-star form in 2002, hitting .341 while Nandaozhou, led by a revamped pitching staff, surged to the conference title and beat Danks' old rival, the New Llama Wizards, 4-2 in the finals. Danks decided to retire - the scrappy young utilityman struggling to get playing time in the minors, at thirty-seven, went out as one of the most beloved players in Llamanean history.

Nova Anglicana WBC 34 Preview

Third Series - Chromatika (UR) v Nova Anglicana
Fourth Series - Nova Anglicana v The Fair Republic (22)

Nickname: Lions
Acronym: NOV
Style Mod (if applicable): +1

Starting Rotation (order as given)
LHP #36 Chris Keyes, 32 - features a 70 MPH, big, sweeping curve, has better control now than before, but has great stuff, looks have "Keyes to my heart" signs common at games
RHP #28 Nate Freeman, 33 - former top prospect had an inconsistent couple of years at big-league level, but has picked it up of late, devastating fastball/curve/change moves him into starting rotation
LHP #40 Brad Bryan, 31 - tall, slim frame with long arms, hides ball very well, nasty slider, velocity average, but great pitching instincts
RHP #37 Danny Hauser, 30, - 98 MPH fastball helped him K 185 in 171 big league innings, late-inning flamethrower moves to the rotation
LHP #32 Cole Mayberry, 26, - loves to throw his cutter at 94, spinning screwball confuses lefties and righties alike, developed a consistent change, fringy slider

Bullpen
LHP #45 Perry Collins, 34 - takes over the long relief role, great circle-change
LHP #49 Luc Godot, 32 - Godot has a herky-jerky motion and spotty control, but great velocity and wipeout slider,
LHP #46 Sidney Fleming, 28 - slings from a sidearm position, will be lefty specialist, sweet slider
RHP #38 Ross Long, 28 - average fastball, but good slider has righties flailing and change baffles lefties
RHP #56 Lucius Lavoie, 30 - Lavoie is a failed starter who has made it as a closer, fastball sits at 95 with a tumbling curveball, changeup and slider need a some work
RHP #39 Bryan Baldwin, 26 - Baldwin is brother of softball's Brandi, knuckleballer can be long reliever, or come on for change of pace
RHP #27 Adrian Romero, 33, - 97 MPH fastball combined with 78 MPH palmball form deadly combination, pretty good curveball for third pitch, could be another long guy, great dancer
RHP #23 Colby Walker, 27 - Walker is a hard thrower (sits 96, touches 98) who developed secondary pitches to become DC Brewers closer
RHP #25 Jamey Conroy, 36 - stranglehold on national-team closer role, led league in saves a year ago, hard, nasty 2-seamer from a low 3/4 slot

C #53 Lamar Ford, 30, (L/R), - Ford is no longer a rookie for the Londinium Capitols, lefty bat is his best tool, but his defense has greatly improved, good speed for catcher, loves spaghetti
C #18 Tommie Griffin, 33, (R/R), - Griffin gets Hightower's old number, big bat and big arm, poor lateral mobility, developing pitch-calling, extra pinch-hitter more than catcher
C #51 Bryan Lamb, 24, (S/R), - Lamb showed an extraordinarily developed eye for the strike zone in his first big league season, with a 34/30 K/BB ratio, not much power, but good defender with decent arm

1B #21 Brooks Colvin, 29, (R/R), - Colvin has big shoes to fill, stepping into Al-Aniz's role, hits tons of doubles, but very few home runs, good defensively with a good arm for a first sacker
3B #26 Khris Caldwell, 33, (S/R), - Caldwell is a big boy who is surprisingly agile at the hot corner, better from the right side, but respectable from the left, club had to put a clause in his contract forbidding eating contests to control his weight
SS #11 Darrin Werner, 25, (R/R), - Werner is a phenom, challenging for MVP in his sophomore season, and showing off five tools in the process, Werner now the starter
2B #4 Josh Jennings, 32, (R/R), - Jennings is a now-veteran, blazing speed and great defense, loves to trash talk, sometimes goes too far, bat has improved
CI #50 Barry Glover, 34, (R/R), - Glover can play either corner infield position, hits well enough to be an emergency DH, gap-to-gap power, very jolly
MI #6 René Martel, 26, (S/R) - Martel is a superb defender, Yeomen organization believes the bat will develop with experience, will not hesitate to drop one down

OF #20 Kelvin Freeman, 31, (L/R), - Freeman posted a .268/.321/.490 line with 30 homers and 15 steals this year, cannon arm, good defensive routes, ladies' man
OF #7 Lance Manning, 30, (S/L), - 5'10 speedster continues to rack up the thefts, with 49 SB this year, beats out plenty of infield hits, indiscriminate swinger, needs to take more walks, especially now that he's leadoff guy
OF #24 Tony "Flick" Barnes (R/R), 34 - Barnes has made right field his own, has good power and a sweet swing, not bad on basepaths or in the field
OF #29 Dana Jordan, 34, S/R, - shows good speed and average, ideal to form either half of a platoon or act as defensive replacement
OF #10 Leon French, 30, (R/R), - poor batting average holding him back, but great power

Dante Woodward #1 (Hitting Coach)

Charley Battaglia #47 (Pitching Coach)

DAVID TOUPS' 15K COMPLETE GAME SHUTOUT

In the tournament opener, the defending champions got the ball rolling with a shutout of Kaboomlandia. The game was started and finished by the Koufax-like pitcher David Toups for the defending champs, and it was a masterpiece. In nine full innings, Toups only gave up three hits and two walks, while striking out fifteen. He was able to finish the game, and actually got two of his strikeouts in a 1-2-3 ninth inning, despite finishing the eighth with 108 pitches (and the game with 121). Toups' splendid performance sets the stage for what the baseball nation hopes to be another successful season.

After the game, reporter Johnny Clyde talked to manager Robert Evans. Evans said, "Well, of course we are back to win. Everybody is. I know that we have a good team, and we proved it to the world last year. My hope is that we can do it again."

The game was played in the beautiful Royal Dome, and therefore was the first World Baseball Classic game to be played in the great nation of Schiltzberg. 47,845 were in attendance, and the crowd went into a wild frenzy to see their team win. It was special for the home team to be able to play its home games truly at home, and it was especially special for the fans to get to see their national team put on a show for them. President James Williams threw out the first pitch, and commented after the game, "I have never seen anything like it, and have never seen people so in love with their country."

The pitcher was the star of this game, but the offense also played an important role in the win. Jeff Fitzhugh did a great job as usual, going four-for-five, with two singles, a double, and a home run. The home run was a solo shot that occurred in the fourth inning, and was the first scoring of the game. Schiltzberg loaded the bases in the sixth, and three scored on a double from third baseman Thomas Saiz. The bases were loaded again after Bob Rutledge reached on error, and Wayne Knox walked, but the pitcher then grounded into a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning. Other notable scoring attempts happened in the second inning, when Manual Villegaus hit a would-be-home-run to right field, but it was caught by the right fielder in an amazing jumping catch. The player of tonight's game without a doubt is David Toups, for pitching an excellent game. This is your New Schiltzbierg Times sports news.

We've never been known as a sports-savvy nation, neither claimed to be one. In fact, we have no idea what the outside world thinks of us, as we tend to be secluded within ourselves and not really reach out to our neighbors nor our potential enemies. Instead, we have always concentrated our efforts into making the Anomalies, the Chromatiks, the best people that we possibly could make. So why change that now? What has Heidi Jyon, DG, deemed so important about international sporting events that we are bucking all tradition? That is the question everyone is asking around, from Chromatiks City to the outskirts of Alnio, from the Northern Islands of Myana to the Jungle of Eryods, populated by a lot of the MRds. Even more curious is the fact that ALL international sporting events will be televised nationally across the nation for free, with the best commentators NMS can buy - Ivan Rastov, DIn, and Raul Vanez, MIn, casting all of them. Those two gentlemen have a heck of a job ahead of them, making sure they know every single sport ever played, but we start with baseball, a sport that Chromatika has a long domestic history in.

Not much is known about Norhe, the nation that we started off our debut in international sports against. Manager Ng, LBl, did state before the series that as long as the pitching staff did their stuff, the abysmal batting of usual Chromatiks could be overcome. This shouldn't be much of a surprise to us since the average runs per game in the Chromatiks League is around five, and most matches are pitching duels. Would such a style hold against the best of the world? In Game 1, it certainly did. Wiera Ann worked his magic, pitching a complete game, only giving up two runs on five hits, with nine strikeouts. He stuck to the sliders and cutters, with the occasional fastball. The MIn pitcher seemed to be in her element, very confident, taking cues from Qyia and even giving some back. There was talk about the Ace of the pitching staff being a MIn and not even a LVi, but it seems for now, he deserves it. The Offense was mostly a byproduct of Plotts & Etienne - who combined for six of those RBIs and six hits. The Chromatiks looked sharp, as if they had been playing international baseball for years.

We wish it could be stated that Jaon and Pria had the same success as Wiera, but alas, that was not the case. Both pitchers only lasted five innings apiece, with Jaon leaving the game with a tight left shoulder and Pria being relieved of her duties after giving up three runs on the bottom of the fifth. Pria could've stuck it through - she probably wanted to - but the DIn has a tendency of going on streaks of bad balls, and perhaps Ng decided that it would be best for her to call it a day. The offense struggled as is to be expected, and the early theme thus far seems to be that if Plotts & Etienne - the wonder boys - don't get the hits and the runs, it won't matter how well the pitchers pitch. Hopefully Nailros, Tlamo, and perhaps even Aliera-Magnusson will be able to lighten the load.

The Bullpen was neither spectacular nor abysmal. Sa hasn't had a reason to pitch yet, and Ni & Hirran gave up two runs apiece in two games. In Chromatik Baseball, Relievers are Pitchers who are in the process of being recognized as good enough to start. Neither has elevated nor fallen in the expectations of the Chromatik Eye. Ng hasn't done a half a bad job thus far, and deserves patience to see. Remember, Chromatiks: this is the first time ever, and so, we must be content with a top-half finish on the tables. There are many more games to come.

So, all in all, a 1-2 start isn't bad. Considering that that was against a fellow debutante, though, is a cause of worry, especially with an angry Republic side waiting. Being at a 1-2 record while ranked 22nd in the world after one series must be an abysmal feeling, and perhaps the Republic side will try to make an example of the Chromatiks. Time will only tell how the Chromatiks will respond.

R < O < Y < G < B < I < V of the rainbow, and then Bronze < Silver < Gold. Red are laborers, Orange are farmers, Yellow the manufacturers, the Green the merchants. Blues, Indigo, and Violets make up the higher end of society (business, lawyers, law enforcement, etc.) while all politicians, after being sworn into office, are part of the Bronze - Silver - Gold hierarchy. The only DG of the nation is the President-Premier, although nobody calls him/her that. The official title is DG. These Color Lines are extremely strict, and it's practically unheard of of anyone of less than Blue to do anything of importance. This is the system Chromatika has been using for as long as written history has existed of the nation...

Esquequi Baseball Almanac: First Two Series

Postby Skeckoa » Sat Aug 29, 2015 7:09 pm

There is a saying that along the line of "have to shake off the rust". Well, the Skeckoa National Baseball Selection has a lot of rust, and will have to shake it off immediately if they want to remain in this tournament.

The first series was against the traditionally powerful Frenline Delpha, in which the Anacondas flexed their muscle and handled the skuad. In the first two games, Skeckoa showed a surprising amount of fight and vigor losing the first game by a close 6-4, and taking the second game well into extra innings. The third game, started by the southpaw Pancho Peña.

There had been some talk prior to the game about Peña's past trouble against lefty batters to which Coach Gerónimo stood by his pitcher and defended him. That turned out to be quite far fetched from reality as Peña would proceed to get smacked around like a piñata giving up 12 runs on 18 hits. Reporters asked Cruz after the game why Peña was allowed to stay out for so long. Cruz would defend the decision by saying that the bullpen was shot after having to go into the 12th the night prior.

This has been a new, amongst many, questionable calls that has put Cruz's tenure as the selection manager in peril, combined with the recent poor play of Skeckoa.

The next series would see an equally poor outing as the Esququis would drop two of three.

In short, if there is anything memorable for the Esquecoa in this tournament, it will be that this will be, potentially, the last time we ever see Gerónimo Cruz manage the national selection.

****.

Han Rhoderick had found himself in another jam. It was a two-one game, and Kyle Hogan had left to a standing ovation at Diamond Park after eight innings of one-run ball, striking out thirteen. A fantastic game, and Logan Walker's two-run home run was all they needed. A win would put that at .500, which wouldn't be a bad start, if not a dominant one.

And then Han had come in and walked Nakazawa. On five pitches, no less - Nakazawa's master strategy was to simply not swing, and although Rhoderick had tempted her with sweet-looking sliders that vanished at the plate, the center-fielder wasn't biting. He finally gave up with a 2-1 count and tried a pair of fastballs, but both missed high and the leadoff man was on.

One walk by itself wasn't bad - but it was definitely a bad omen. He could hear groans from the faithful that filled Tyler Rocke. Rhoderick's doing it again. It pissed him off. It didn't take much to piss him off, but this was definitely doing more than what was needed.

The third hitter, Haruichi Kominato, stepped up to the plate. A dangerous switch-hitter, wisely opting to bat lefty against Rhoderick. Already a bit upset, he saw Troy Vasquez stand up in the bullpen and was even more upset.

So upset that his next pitch read as ninety-seven on the radar gun. Kominato took it high, but the umpire seemed to disagree with the second baseman and the count read oh-and-one.

This was enough to settle him down. At least somebody was on his side. He missed his next pitch, a slider, by at least six feet. It was so good, it was practically a work of art. He swung and missed, and he was up 0-2, and it was fantastic. He could do whatever the **** he wanted now.

Slider in the dirt, swing-and-a-miss, strike three. Except it bounced away from Michael Trabajen, and his throw went just wide enough to pull Polanco off the bag. Kominato on first. Nakazawa on second. He could feel it slipping away.

Vasquez was warming up. S***!

Tetsuya Yuki, a lefty, came up. Rhoderick air-mailed a fastball well over the umpire's head and there were runners on second and third. More groans, the infield in - the ultimate surrender, please don't hurt us. A band of sweat began to work its way down Han's cheek.

Trabajen came out.

"Han, look, there are runners on second and third, but we can get out of this. Just relax a bit and we're golden. Just bang Yuki around inside - worst comes to worst and we've got a force at every place, but she can't hit it inside. Especially if your velocity stays up."

Rhoderick almost lashed out - you're the one who can't handle my sliders, ferchrissake, of course I'm throwing fastballs inside. You took this long just to tell me to throw a fastball inside? What the **** mate? But he stopped himself. His next pitch was a fastball outside, just to screw around with Trabajen. Yuki swung and hit a solid line drive, but Fiers didn't move an inch to get it and there was one out.

Alex Cameron made a "what was that?" gesture. Trabajen returned with a "Don't even know" gesture.

Raichi Todoroki came up next. Rhoderick threw a slider in the dirt, then another - Todoroki couldn't hold up and it was 0-2. He went down swinging on a high fastball, because Rhoderick liked high fastballs and why not if you're up 0-2 on someone.

Kazuya, the catcher. Fastball inside didn't work, but a fastball high and outside got him a weak tap foul to the right. Trabajen signalled for a slider down and in. Rhoderick wound up and threw a slider.

It was the best slider he'd ever thrown - perfect, really, diving gracefully into the dirt and creating a small puff of dust as it rolled past Trabajen, who was expecting a slider somewhat higher and inside and desperately stabbed at it without a hope of blocking the ball.

Ayumi Nazakawa took off. Trabajen sprinted for it, and so, inexplicably, did Logan Walker, wanting to help even though there was nothing he could do. Han Rhoderick sprinted home. It was just him and Trabajen now. Maybe screwing around with his pitches wasn't the greatest idea, and he was about to pay. Trabajen threw his mask off and dashed after it. A shin-guard comically flapped, having come loose. Nazakawa continued to sprint for the plate, trying to tie the game.

It was rolling towards the on-deck circle, and Trabajen dove and cut it off. He spun, still sitting, and whipped a sidearm throw to Rhoderick. The ****er had put a slider grip on it. Two could play at the game, he supposed.

He stuck his glove out at it, was pleasantly surprised to catch it, and turned. Nazakawa was diving into the plate, knowing Rhoderick had it but seeing no other option to destroy him. He tapped her on the helmet cheekily, then hung onto the ball for dear life as he went flying.

The umpire came running over. He held up the ball, yelled "game's over, go home," at a stunned-looking Nazakawa, and bowed to the unimpressed crowd as the umpire yelled "HE'S OUT" in a shocking display of sexism.

That was that, then. It counted as a save, didn't it?

TCR - LEO DAVIS

Born - November 1, 1963, in New Llama City - Drafted 2nd overall in the 1985 draft by Denison

Leo Davis - few other pitchers remind us so much of potential wasted. Davis made the hall of fame - but he could have been one of the greatest pitchers of all time. Then again, when you throw so hard you're bound to get hurt - and that's what happened to Davis, his immense talent turning out to be only merely spectacular.

Raised in New Llama, Davis was selected second in the draft by Denison, who had given themselves the top two picks in that year's draft - the first went to fireballing college righty Raymond Stoll, and the second to Davis, fireballing college lefty. The two were highly touted, and both opened the year in the majors. Davis was spectacular, winning twenty games and throwing two hundred innings, whiffing 275. (Stoll, for his part, struck out 283 in 192 innings with a 1.99 ERA, winning the Cy Young award.) The next year was more of the same. And then Davis' arm broke in 1987 on opening day, Stoll already having hit the DL (he threw his last pitch in 1989, with Emerald Springs.)

Davis was back in time for the pennant race Denison had lucked their way into - but, having rushed to make it back, he hurt himself and had to miss the rest of the year and all of 1989. By the time he was back in 1990, Denison fans were lamenting their team's mismanagement but their two young stars - but while Stoll was forced to retire, Davis still had something in the tank, and his first year back was solid. But 1991 was injury-plagued, and he ended up playing just a full season's worth of games from 1991-92 before a 1993 defined by the seventh-inning hook that was instituted to try to save his arm, although he was by then twenty-nine.

Denison decided to try and sign-and-trade him to a different team, but a poor set of physicals and the Patriots' absurd asking prices led all suitors to pass, so Davis stayed at the team on a one-year deal and pitched solidly, making the all-star team for the second consecutive season. At thirty-one, it seemed unlikely he could put everything together again. But then he did, pitching for a New Llama Wizards club that outbid everyone to the dismay of their supporters. A Most Dominant Pitcher award in 1995 and then a questionable second-place finish to the retiring Evan Masorka in 1997 sealed his dominance. When W-L records were still sort of popular, Davis lost just seven games in over 550 innings pitched. Still, he was thirty-four, and when the Wizards decided to resign him for three years and twenty-two million, baseball aficionados were dubious...until two more years of dominance shut them up. Still, after an uncharacteristically bad 2000 in which the Wizards won the championship anyways, Davis decided to go out on a mixed note.

Pefect Game Leads to Perfect Record

The powerhouse offense of Frenline Delpha showed its metal in its recent three game homestand against Alastonia. The Anacondas bought their big bats in the first game, soundly trashing the Alastonian squad 16-2. The bats were alve agin the next night, delivering a solid 12-2 victory. However, the third game would be the pitcher's time to shine. Pitcher Samuel Bumbleto threw only the second perfect game in Frenline Delpha's WBC history, and he led his team to a 8-0 victory.

Bumbleton started the day out with excellent pitch control. He got the first batter, James, to strike out on just three pitches. Monta managed to work it to a 2-2 count, but he fouled one off and then struck out. The thrid batter, Ellington, grounded straight up the infield to the pitcher for the third out. The second inning went much like the first, with Bumbleton making batters look like bumbling fools in the box. He struck out two more, and he got Bradford to fly out to right field. He was dominating the game thus far.

Bumbleton wasn't the only thing going for the Anacondas that day. The offense was still showing its muscles, and it did so in the form of three runs in the second inning. Frekline started it off when he cracked a solid double into right-center field. This brought up Cunningpie, who swing for the fences, but missed the ball for strike one. However, he was not going to give up that easily. The next pitch he saw, he liked, and he crushed a ball deep into left field, over the apartment complex that is located there. This gave Frenline Delpha a 2-0 lead. Travester was up next, and he beamed a double to deep left field. On the very next play, Minecart layed down a sac bunt that advanced Travester to third. On the next at bat, Flooris drove the ball deep into center field, and Travester tagged up. He slid in under the tag, and the Anacondas lead 3-0.

Bumbleton continued to pitch masterfully for the next five innings, recording an impressive nine strike-outs. He didn't have to wait long for run support, though. In the bottom of the seventh, Frenline Delpha would put another run on the board. It came off the bat of Travester. After taking two strikes, he crushed a ball that ended up in the overhang that is locate over the right field fence. This home run would give the Anacondas a 4-0 advantage. Flooris managed to hit a single later that inning, but he was thrown out on a fielder's choice, so that went nowhere.

In the top of the eighth, Bumbleton worked more magic, striking out the first batter, getting the second to fly out, and then he got the third to strike out on three pitches. He was having a dominant preformance. The bats weren't done for the Anacondas, yet. They still had oomph left in them, as they showed by bagging another four runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Malfastern started things off with a bang, recording a triple that bound into the corner and road the left field wall a bit. Lafringe followed that up by crushing a single. Malfastern was held up on the play. This bought up Frekline, who had a vengeance to settle. He waited for the perfect pitch, and he drilled it towards the left field side. The ball just barely cleared the fence, but the Anacondas had gained themselces a 7-0 lead. Cunningpie was next up, and he cracked a double out in center field. After Travester struck out, Minecart stepped up to the plate. After an 0-1 count, he struck a hard ball, and was rewarded with a double, which scored Cunningpie. Two outs later, and the game moved into the ninth.

Alastonia would have three outs to work with, but they could not get anything going against Bumbleton. Chapman struck out swinging, Crowne flew out to left field, and Alla struck out for the final out of the game, sealing Bumbleton's perfect game. After the game, the entire Anacondas' bench cleared, as the player started a dogpile on their pitcher, Bumbleton. He had done what only one other player had ever done. He had thrown a perfect game. With that win, Frenline Delpha became 6-0, and they owned the sole title to first place in group 3.

The winning pitcher for the Anacondas was Bumbleton. He went 9 innings, gave up no runs, no hits, and struck out 17. The losing pitcher was Alan, going 8 innings, giving up 8 runs on 14 hits. He also recorded 6 strike-outs. Notable batters for the Anacondas included Travester, who went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and an RBI, Flooris, who went two for three with an RBI, and Frekline, who went two for four with a home run and three RBIs.
I don't know how long I'll be back, but I just thought I'd stop in and say hi, at least.

Interview with Alastonian manager, Ken Beale.

Coach, thanks for joining us today.

Ken Beale: No problem.

Let's start with that first series. Your team came out strong and was able to sweep the series.

We really played well in those three games. We hit the ball pretty well, and I think that really was the difference maker.

But then in that second series...

I don't know what happened, honestly. We came out flat. It seemed like we couldn't do anything right, and Frenline Delpha could do no wrong. We couldn't hit, couldn't pitch, couldn't play defense.

Talk about that perfect game. Obviously, nobody wants to be on that end of one of those. Was there anything different about that game?

Their pitcher was on fire, what can I say? We just couldn't get it going. We struggled all series at the plate, and that game was no exception. They were the better team all series, and that game really showed it.

Looking ahead to the next series, what are you telling the team?

Well, we have to do better, of course. We have to focus on the task at hand and not dwell on these last few games. But we also need to learn from this experience.

How do you like the team's chances going forward?

We're a good team. But clearly, we have a lot of room to grow. A lot to learn. But I think if we stay focused and try to improve each time out, then I think we can make some noise.

Coach, thanks for your time, and good luck the rest of the way.

Thanks for having me.

CNN ENTERTAINMENT

Most of Abanhfleft's newest returning series rated top for their particular timeslots, with The Interceptors naturally taking up pole position with their premiere episode for its latest series, No Place for Heroes. There's the Way, Where's the Will? busted up 6% of all people tuned in on Friday from 9 to 10, with the first episode of season 3, "Oh, My God, Smiley Has Cloned Herself" already on the shortlist for best episode in a comedy series. Troubled Skies once again provoked the thoughts of 4.7% of people watching in Monday from 8 to 9 with its brutal presentation of the troubles that plagued Abanhfleft's skies in the past four years. Finally, Monday Night Movies plays In the Holy City, another one of Karl Barry's war films, this time set during the heady days of the aftermath of the Verbergerkinnh Rebellion.

The Interceptors (Series 7 - No Place for Heroes)
Guest starring: Matt Pardew as Arby Balladur, Philip Drinkwater as General Rowan Balladur, Yasser Abdul-Tariq as Edward Eskalumbuye and Ruud Akinfenyor as General Stephane Eskalumbuye
Title: "Mr. Balladur, I Presume?"
Summary: Arby Balladur., a Fleftic volunteer aid worker with the WA, is kidnapped by the forces of Carbombyan warlord Edward Eskalumbuye. The Interceptors mount an operation to rescue Balladur, but forces both human and natural are intent to keep them from pulling off the rescue. A sandstorm arrives over the place where Balladur is suspected to be held by the rebels, making matters all the more difficult for the Interceptors.

Where's the Way, Where's the Will? (Season 3)
Starring: Gabe Montgomery as Matt Koppelberg, Tanya Cyril as Smiley Koppelberg and Ash Waters as Japhie Koppelberg
Title: "Metalingus Is a Song Where the Title Doesn't Appear in the Song Itself"
Summary: As Abanhfleft's worst winter in two decades hits Riuwiee, the Koppelbergs are stuck at home with nothing to do except what they can think of. This obviously leads to such inane shenanigans as family trivia contests and the like, but then Japhie stumbles upon a mysterious item in the basement while told to get some disused comforters.

Troubled Skies (Season 15)
Starring: Theodore Darcy as Squadron Leader Terry Shatustak and Michael Cutter as Flight Lieutenant Isaak Papandreou
Title: "Deadly Patrol"
Summary: On 6 June 1967, a Fleftic Air Force Border Patrol and Security Regiment PBY Catalina is patrolling the Fleftic maritime demarcation line when it suddenly crashes into the sea near Dorfdifving Air Force Base, killing all 10 crew members. When the wreckage is discovered, armed forces investigators discover numerous bullet holes scattered throughout the plane's fuselage, indicating an attack from unknown fighter aircraft. Investigators will later discover a simple scheduling mistake led to a mixup between two Air Force squadrons, leading to an unprovoked friendly fire incident that eventually forced reforms within the Fleftic Armed Forces.

Monday Night Movies Presents: In the Holy City
Starring: Tanya Cyril as Esther Livyatan, Aria Nunca as Rebekah Karnstein, Cat Purcell as Judith Dayan and Samara Tully as Golda Olmert
Summary: A group of female soldiers barely survive an ambush and protracted firefight in post-rebellion Verbergerkinnh, and their brave stand against all the odds sees them all awarded the Medal of Honor for their actions. Four years later, all of them are now part of the Fleftic Army garrison in Imgortur, capital of Verbergerkinnh, which has become a hotbed for pro-independence locals looking to attempt another rebellion to overthrow their Fleftic occupiers. Shot on location in Imgortur itself, In the Holy City takes a look at the human cost of just one of Abanhfleft's many wars, and the sacrifices that the individual soldiers made for the safety and protection of their country.

What has come upon our Chromatiks in the second series? All three pitchers contributed 7+ innings, with Ann pitching another complete game. Plotts & Etienne combined for twelve of twenty-seven runs in the series, and Weirawa showed up to get eight runs. Ng seemed quite happy with his team, and with the greatest test coming up in eighth-ranked Nova Anglicana, the team looks quite primed to make a statement or maybe fall upon their face. So much offense being generated is something to be celebrated, but defense is where we must still put most of our stock.

The coolest story thus far?

I wish I could say, but there's something big in the works. I'm hearing things from Bzs and Sis, and maybe even some signs from G. I'm looking forward to the day when I can share the rest along.
