Duke Condemns Terrorist Attack In New Othman
STRANA MECHTY - Calling it a 'despicable act carried out by cowards", Duke Victor Răceanu harshly condemned the recent attack on the Altinay nightclub in downtown New Ankara, where successful members of the growing Othmani economy have been gathering in celebration since the birth of Othmani democracy. The attack was a dual-blast incident, with the initial bomb killing at least 65 people and wounding at least 79 other innocent bystanders. A second explosion was almost certainly intended to target first responders.
Already a radical Islamist group called "Vengeance of Allah" claimed responsibility for the attack, and listed a surprisingly lengthy set of demands to be met, lest more attacks be carried out. The Othamani Government has yet to speak publicly of the event, but the New Ankara Gazette joined others in insisting the Othmani people do not let themselves be cowered by the terrorist group. In addition, reporter Aya Gundogan urged citizens to continue to focus on peace and prosperity, and rebuilding New Othman as a modern day democracy.
In light of recent terrorist attacks in Adiron, Răceanu stressed greater security measures must be implemented in order to ensure the same does not happen to the Confederation. In addition, the Duke expressed solidarity with the Othmani Government, and pubicly vowed the Confederation was fully behind the Republic in light of the attacks, and promised support against other groups that threaten to destabilize New Othman.
"Democracy and personal freedom must be safeguarded at every corner of the world. We cannot let the actions of cowards weaken the strong."
