And so, the survivors of the crash made it to the shores with some of their belongings. Just moments after the settlers disembarked, the old, worn-out boats that saved them begun to sink in the shallow water.

Some crates, and barrels also made it to the shores, one contained a single, rusty hammer and a tattered book about fencing (Skill book of fighting skills), another held a few drops of wine (2 Alcohol). Finally, there was a an elegant coat, it belonged to the captain of the ship. In its leather pockets was a map that was miraculously left untouched by the water. It detailed location of valuable ores and natural resources.

Image

http://i.imgur.com/88rvgqp.jpg

Area 1: Green Field - Center of reference. Free plots: 42.
Locations:
Ore source - approx 8 units of bricks could be mined from the rocks here. Takes up 2 plots.
Fishing grounds - a good place to fish.
Clay source - This bay serves as an almost unlimited source of clay.
A Mysterious totem - I have no Idea what it is.
A small forest - Takes up 6 plots. The trees here could be harvested for 12 wood.

Area 2: South-Western Forest. Free plots: 10.
Locations:
Large Forest - Takes up 40 plots. This forests seems like a good source of quality pine lumber for future expeditions.

Area 3: North-Western Forest. - Free plots: 5
Locations:
Ore source - One of the hills here contain valuable Iron in vast quantities. Takes up 5 plots.
Large Forest - Takes up 40 plots. Lots of trees here to cut. I think I also saw some deer.

Area 4: North-Eastern Forest. - Free plots: 2
Locations:
Fishing grounds - The fishing grounds of the Green field is also accessible from here. A good place to fish.
Ore source - One of the hills here contain valuable Minerals in large quantities. It Takes up 5 plots.
Large Forest - Takes up 43 plots. Plenty of trees here to chop up as well.

The existence of this map raised many questions. Did the captain make a trip here earlier? Is there already another settlement in the area?

A large, green field awaited the Europeans, in its middle stood a tall, wooden totem. It was painted blood-red and was held together by large ropes and was built on strange rocks. Atop was it was an abomination of meat and feather.

Special activity available: Destroy totem. - Takes 2 hours. Recover 2 fiber, 3 wood and 1 meat.

Additional Rules of importance:

Activities that started earlier in IC time have priority over other activities. If someone started chopping down the last remaining tree at 1 AM, The person who comes around 2 AM to cut the tree for himself won't be able to do so unless:
- He kills/shoos away the first woodcutter in combat
- The first woodcutter lets the second take over.
Activities that start at the same IC time feel no priority over one another. If 2 man wishes to grab the same items from a warehouse at the same time, neither of them will get the items until they agree on how to divide them or someone gets killed/shooed away...

Resting bonuses/penalties (including cold) are accounted for every 8 AM, based on how much time you spend resting from 6 AM to 8 PM.

Petyor wretched, clearing the last vestiges of the saltwater from his lungs. That was a bloody disaster. Nothing that could be done about it though. Here he was, for now. He'd managed to grab his gear from his cabin as the Concord drown, an almost fatal mistake with the axe's weight... but it would be helpful now that he had made land.

With a grunt the Russian scooped up the book about Fencing, and added it to his oilcloth rucksack. Saving knowledge was important, since he didn't know what the rest of the crew was skilled at, aside from Nicholas. He then squinted at the effigy for the better part of a minute, face showing obvious distaste, before working some of the rope loose. It would stay together, but just barely. He wasn't going to be the man to destroy whatever this Skraeling idol was.

At a loping stride Garasov set off for the north-western Forest at a languid energy-saving stride, axe on his shoulder. There was good timber there, and deer for the hungry soul.

Upon arrival he began combing part of the grove for edible plants for several hours. He knew many good plants to eat back on the Continent, and knew generally how to identify new plants as edible or not, but Petyor was no botanist. These were wild woods, and had never known civilization, but the easterner felt safe enough on this warm sunlit day in his cuirass with his axe at his side.

Elizabeth stood up looked around the area for her things, but more importantly, Dave the falcon. She began shouting "Dave? Dave! Where are you, Dave!" Dave then descended to the ground in front of her. Elizabeth begins petting him, saying "Oh, Dave! I thought I had lost you. I'm glad you're okay." She then began looking around, seeing several crates on the shore, along with several survivors. "To a lesser extent, I hope they're okay too."

Elizabeth then begins walking to the crate containing the rusty hammer. She picks them up and says to Dave "This may come in handy. I better hold on to these." Elizabeth then redirects her attention to the totem standing in the middle of a green field. She walks over to it, but doesn't touch it. Instead, she says to Dave "This place must be sacred grounds. I mustn't harm it, as if probably get stricken with a curse for doing something like that." Instead, Elizabeth gets down and begins bowing to the totem, praying to it for good luck and prosperity.

When Campbell begins talking to Elizabeth, she says to him "Shh! I need much concentration to pray well, and you're distracting me from it. Feel free to join me, if you want. Forgive him for the interruption, totem spirit." Once Campbell begins reading his bible, Elizabeth says "No, pastor! I meant pray to the totem. Clearly there is some magic ability this holds that part of something bigger than it seems. I must appease that greater power by praying to it. Please, join me."

Alvis stood up, stretched her back, and walked through the field, her assortment of pots and pans that were hastily tied down onto the bag of flout clanging loudly as she made her way to the odd looking totem. Someone, a European for sure, was praying to it. Al frowned and looked around at the surroundings. Shrugging noisly, she walked off towards a pond which had some nice shade to it, and sat down and grabbed the notebook she had stolen from her father's study. It outlined many various fishing techniques, and in this odd new place, knowing how to fish would likely come in handy.

After an hour of prayer towards the totem, Elizabeth decided that the blessing bestowed upon her was for good luck. She picked up the elegant coat, then began exploring. She was confident of the totem's powers and that the spirit was looking out for her. She had her leather working knife in her hand, just in case trouble should still find its way to her. She didn't know what she was expecting to find, but she was confident it would be something good.

Elizabeth began talking to the her falcon as she explored. "Dave, do you feel blessed? No? Well, I think we'll both see our divine gift in the forest. Maybe we'll stumble upon a group of friendly Indians, or an unoccupied log cabin! Ooh, I can't wait to see what the totem's spirit will have us stumble upon!"

Ryder slowly got up from the sandy beach was was stranded on and got up. He noticed the other near the totem and decided it would be best to try to find a source of fish. He decided his best bet was to follow a small stream. Around halfway he stopped to eat some of the preserved meat he had.

Norman laid in the sandy beach. Sand clung to his well kept beard and furry clothes like head louse. His eyes slowly opened, taking in the wonder of his surroundings from left to right, over viewing the grassy plains in an unbelieving haze. He was ushered to consciousness by the "Baa" call of his sheep. His left hand searched his caught pocket and he felt relief, the last item from his family he would see for some time beyond the sheep, the shears, were still there. He climbed to his feet. A sense of calm washing over him by the sound of the waves, the light of the sun, and the col breeze all coming at once. He smiled in his calm state, it not yet dawning on him what this meant. That wasn't meant to last as he gazed upon the talisman in the field. His days of seminary rose within him and he couldn't believe someone would do that.

"Heathen Heretics!" He bellowed loudly in disbelief while pointing at the satanic totem, thinking to himself that it must be heathens that built it. The first and second of the ten Commandments specifically disobeying the building of idols, if that is for a religion that is. He first thought to counter it would be to destroy it and use the resources for his own usage but it also occurred to him that in doing so would be against the eighth commandment and thus be a sin of his own. And yet "though shalt not destroy" is not mentioned in the commandments. But if he was to honour his Protestant parents, the way to do that now, would be to reduce the satanic totem to the ground before the colonists lose there faith in The Lord and place it instead in the devil or in this demon. But not take anything from the rubble and in doing that he would avoid sinning.

It seemed equally odd to him that so early in the expedition, people should be Boeing down to this hunk of timber.

Not long after the woman entered the forest with her falcon, she encountered all sorts of strange looking plants and smaller animals, unheard of in Europe. Most notably, There were small rabbit-like furry creatures wandering around, an easy pray for a falcon.

But aside from the little creatures and colorful plants, there was something else in the forest. Strange noises could be heard from time to time, though the origin of these sounds could never be traced. The crowns of the trees projected uncanny shadows on the ground that was littered with tiny holes that led to the underground tunnels of the furry things and unusual markings, perhaps footsteps of larger beings.

Elizabeth looks at Dave and smiles. "What did I tell you, Dave? The totem has granted us a bounty of food in the form of rabbit. Alright Dave, since I'm not much of a hunter myself, I need you to kill them. Now, I'll only let you have one, okay? Bring the rest to me. Now attack, falcon! Make me proud!"

As Elizabeth waited for Dave to do all the hard work, she decided to practice botanics with these strange small plants. Dave would probably finish hunting before she finishes practicing, but at least it was something to do to pass the time.

6 hours have passed and Petyor has accumulated a significant quantity of grains from wild wheat (+1 Grain). He has also found strange new plants that look edible (+1 Veggies), at least, the rabbit-like animals had no problem eating them.

After scrounging up some greens, Petyor applied his axe to some of the smaller forest trees, leaving saplings intact. After a few short hours he as felled one and chopped it up into a reasonable size for touting. The Russian, satisfied with his haul, retreated from the forest to one of the small clearings near the red hillocks that indicated the presence of iron ore. He was only a trapper, not a hunter, but the little bubbly brook near here and the tracks about it indicated a wealth of game. Some of the tracks, the larger ones he had seen further into the dense wood, concerned him. There was no help for it though. He and Nicholas would have to eat- reaching the hole that the Father had promised to dig, Petyor carefully constructed a simple pitfall trap for one of the shy deer he had seen bounding about. Added to his vegetables, a hunk of venison would be delectable. By the time he had finished the Russian adjudged it about five o'clock in the evening by the sun, and settled down near a tiny fire about as large as his hand to polish off the greens and peruse his manuscript on the art of agriculture. Mess Limerack's Allitropy Assonant Agriculture Anthology recommended having seeds to plant, so he carefully kept some bits and black pits of the vegetables for use once he knew what to do with them. Several hours later his fire was dying down, and Petyor nodded appreciatively as the Father read the word before they both bedded down for the night, carefully concealed from sight in a small dell.

5am: Walk to NW Forest [+Fencing Book, Fiber]
5:30-11am: Gather in Forest [+Wheat, Veggies]
11am-3pm: Cut Wood with Axe [+3 Wood]
3-4pm: Construct Trap [-1 Fiber, 1 Wood]
4-10pm: Study Skill Book: Smithing
11-12pm: Listen to Sermon
12pm-6am: Sleep
[30 mins of eating Veggies in there somewhere for 2 nutrition]

The Father stretched his arms, and legs. He was unharmed, for the most part, and it seemed those who were left were the same.

It had been a merciful wreck - those who lived could, perhaps, make their own way into this new world. There were none who would need to be cared for into a swift death, none who could not work.

He had managed to leave with just a few belongings - the clothes on his back, his shovel, and his two books, wrapped carefully in his elegant robes. His Holy Bible, and his little diary from the village elder. They would, no doubt, both govern his directions in this strange place.

The Father gave the totem a cursory look. There would be no time to spend studying it, or to protect it, despite his worries that his more practical comrades would misunderstand the spirit of the commandments. For a good Christian man to place too much store in the pagan idols is a danger - they have no meaning to us, and so they are the business of those that they do hold meaning to.

The Father made his feelings quite clear to those around him, although he was not certain everyone had heard.

"This idol is not ours. Leave it be, and the Lord will be pleased by those who turn the other cheek. The idols have no power over devout Christians, divine or otherwise."

But he had already made plans - he owed Peyotr a hole, in exchange for food. The Father was not a hunter. He was as much an animal lover as anyone else, but he had been brought up in harsh conditions. He knew these things had to be done. However, he was not particularly good at doing them. So he would earn his keep with shovel and Bible.

So he walked to the North-West Forest, intending to dig two holes, and would return to dig clay.

At 11 PM, he would give a sermon on the feeding of the multitudes. The Lord provides - for we may be capable of little, but when we bring our work together, we can create a life for thousands.

5am - 5:30: Walk to NW Forest
5:30 - 6:30: Dig two holes at NW forest
6:30 - 7: Return to central area
8am - 8pm: Reading Skillbook (Masonry) (12 hours, skill completed)
Dump Skillbook (Masonry) in central area
8pm - 11pm: Dig Clay (+4 Clay)
11pm - 12pm: Preaching (The Feeding of the 5,000)

Using her spear as a walking stick, and with her little pots and pans and bags of herbs hanging at her side, she walked about. Others seemed to have survived; there was some hubbub about a kind of strange totem, and people wandered about. That was good.

Realising what dire straits they were in, however, Maria was quickly distracted by what seemed to be evidence of game. Prints, smells, sounds, she followed them away from where most had washed up. Considering how spread out everyone else appeared to be, she resolved to go hunting for a bit. With her spear on her, time quickly passed as she went about looking for deer, rabbits, or whatever she might kill for a nice bit of meat when night fell.

Rabbits!
Rabbits?
Rats!
Rats?
Moles?
Beavers?
Pigs?
What the hell were they?
The two little delightfully cute morsels were scurrying away as fast as they could, having been chanced upon by Maria, with her clanging utensils and spear. Oh, and a falcon... was it eyeing them up as well? In fact, had she seen this falcon before? Perhaps.

Before she could place its origin, she began to go after the guinea pigs, as she would eventually know they were. Spear in hand, she shouted and huffed and made a lot of noise, exhorting herself to catch them for lunch. Or dinner. She wanted them, and she cajoled herself into putting her effort into chasing the little lumps of meat.

After 2 hours of studying these plants, Elizabeth decided that there were other things that called for her attention. She decided that she didn't want anyone or anything else to steal all the divine gifts she expected totem spirit to grant her. She began digging a hole after 2 hours of studying the plants. About 3 hours into digging, 2 guinea pigs appeared in front of her. She whistles, then says "Dave, please kill one of those guinea pigs. I need to go back to digging."

Elizabeth then completely ignores the other one and begins butchering the guinea pig. She then looks at Maria and says to her "Hey, when you're done killing that thing, could you help me butcher them? It could be delicious if we butcher and cook them." She would finish the hole after she's done butchering the animal.

(5:30am) Norman picked up a long a cylindrical stick from the ground. He walked up to the idol and folded his arms in disapproval. He stared at the priest in approval and Elizabeth in disapproval. Her heretic ways were not enjoyed by Norman in the slightest and he was shocked that she would ask the priest to pray to anything but the lord with her. He angrily walked off, intent on dismantling the heretical idol later but was now aware that he wasn't going to get anywhere with someone as brutally unfaithful to the one true faith as Elizabeth.

(05:30-06:00) With the sheep beside him, he made his way along the coast west to locate a fertile pasture. It seemed like a good idea to him. The boat was wrecked so they couldn't go home so having a proper place for his sheep to roam was appealing. After a half hour walk west of the idol he came upon a nice fertile pasture with large (multi-hectare) wide-open green grassy plains just above a sandy beach that overlooked a calm-water cove, and below the . "This looks like a fine place to settle down" he said to himself. Before heading back to request assistance from a carpenter in building a fence for a pasture. He thought that in exchange he might be able to offer a set of winter clothes from the Sherpa woolly fibres or perhaps once he gets a better grasp of botany, a free medical service. He spent the next minutes looking around the pasture that was to be his own.

He spent the next half an hour (06:30 - 07:00) returning to the location of the idol where he believed the others were located. When he returned he couldn't help but notice that the Idol was unguarded from being purged of its evil, in other words purged from existence. He looked around and didn't spot Petyor or Elizabeth and the priest was returning to the central area. He wished to please the good lord by tearing down the idol but with few people around he proceeded to dismantle the idol (07:00 - 09:00) willing to explain himself if necessary and stop should the priest demand that he do so.
By 09:00 all that was left of the idol was a mound of assorted materials. He felt good about himself, having dismantled the pagan idol and thus showed his devotion to his faith.
He placed the resulting materials in a neat organized pile where the idol had been before.

Recognizing that this new world was dangerous and that the skills of a medical professional are scarce. Norman decided that he had to study the lords creations (Natural flora) in this new world, so as to produce his own medication. The next 8 hours were to be spent studying botany. After that he decided to attend the sermon and go to bed. Time in-between activities he looked after his sheep.

05:30 - 06:00 Walking stick acquired. Future pasture site found and claimed.

06:00 - 06:30 Future pasture site partially explored.

06:30 - 07:00 Walked back to the central area.

07:00 - 09:00 Destroyed Idol (Secret activity)

09:00 - 09:30 Walked to northwest forest

10:00 - 16:00 foraged for food

16:00 - 16:30 Eating

16:30 - 17:00 looked after the sheep.

17:00 - 17:30 had a nap

17:30 - 19:00 studied Botany

19:00 - 23:00 Sleeping under the stars

23:00 - 24:00 Attended sermon

24:00 - 05:00 Sleeping under the stars

Petyor stretched, cracking his back as he awoke from a pretty restful sleep. He was a bit tired though, his belly gnawing at his backbone; just a few handfuls of vegetables was hardly a way to sustain a body, especially with the labor that had gone into yesterday, both mentally and physically. It would do better to find more to eat today- perhaps he could try his hand at hunting. Or agriculture. This was a fertile climate. It wouldn't take long for the seeds he had saved from the vegetables to germinate, and he hadn't seen anyone else foraging in this stretch of rolling woodland. There had to be some other food out there worth filling his proverbial granary pit with.

Sitting down as the dawn rose, he studied the agricultural text further. It spoke of plowing and reaping and tending and sowing, until eventually as the sun mounted the sky he came to the end of the literary text. His mind was bursting with new knowledge of germination and soil. Perhaps later, when Father Nicholas returned with his shovel, there might be good that could be done with his seeds. For now though, food he would need. Off the dour Russian trudged into the forest, looking for patches of round vegetables like those he had consumed the day before.
