The good thing about capitalism is that, through hard work, one can rise or fall to any of these classes, regardless of species.
- Ruling Class: Held entirely by the Chancellors and key upper members of government like the cabinet, Senators, supreme court justices, the Majestic Twelve, and military generals. This class is recognizable solely by their position and power, and the items they wear because of it. Depending on the position, benefits can vary wildly, if any exist. This is left over from the days when the Chancellors were called Kings and the government was much smaller. In fact, this position is normally merged into other classes, excluding the Chancellors.
- Upper Class: Wealthy business creatures, televangelists, bankers, tycoons, CEOs, and those with a lot of cash on hand. You can spot an Upper Class creature by their (probably) opulent lifestyle and snazzy wardrobe, though this isn't always the case.
- Soldiers: The heroes of TurtleShroom and protectors of freedom, soldiers- be it active, reserve, or discharged in good standing -are praised and complemented to no end. They also get a 20% discount at any government store/gift shop, and any patriotic, country-loving business will offer that, too. Soldiers are well paid on duty and have excellent pension (even more than normal) and huge benefits. As TurtleShroom's finest, the troops deserve it. Soldiers are not normally recognized unless on duty or in reserve, when they'd probably be wearing their combat uniforms. To qualify for any discount or benefit, you must serve honorably for six years.
- Clergy: Priests, preachers, pastors, monks, gurus, etc. and clerics of all religions are considered amongst the Clergy class. They are required to maintain higher-than-usual moral standards and can face steeper fines and increased sentences if they break a law specifically mentioned in their faith. If the cleric is a Southern Baptist pastor, he will get a nice bonus from the government's Religion and Spirituality Budget budget. A cleric is required to wear their church vestments/wardrobe/robes at all times in public, if their faith mandates it. For instance, Catholic bishops are instantly noticeable, while Baptist preachers simply wear a suit.
- Nobility: The TurtleShroom government grants a ceremonial title and a small estate (say, one or two acres) to those who have truly earned it, given solely by merit. This title of nobility is inheritable to any gender. Benefits of holding any title include a sash and a medal (though one or both of these must be worn at all times in public), a five percent discount at all public/government-operated gift shops, a laminated card designating the title, and the privilege of getting to ring the bell at the Stock Exchange, or the bell at the Chancellery to call the heads of state to begin their day, or other bells of priority. You can spot a noble by the sash and/or medal they wear.
- Judges: Judges are rather special in TurtleShroom. It is very easy to become a Judge (a simple community-college course), but hard to get a real seat and preside over a bench in court. Most who seek the title of Judge end up in a bureaucracy (most bureaucrats are also judges) within the government, where there is never a shortage of work, issuing warrents and helping answer questions. Judges always wear black robes in public.
- Elders: Old people who have reached the Age of Pension (55 for humans) and have at last retired. They recieve very nice benefits and can live in luxury with TurtleShroom's beautifully overfunded, luxury retirment home suites.
- Middle/Working Class: Your normal worker and family creature. Hard working, honest, moralistic, and making a good salary (above the Line of Poverty), these are the backbone of TurtleShroom society.
- The Impoverished: Bums, hobos, lazy bums, good-for-nothings, poor people, welfare goons. These are the lessers of society. The truly needy (e.g. cripples, beggers, widows, the homeless by no choice of their own, the sickly, the mentally challenged, and orphans) recieve charity from the largely Christian nation, who are mandated to give to the poor. Creatures who make under 10000 Skillets a year are Impoverished.
- Nekomimi/Cat-girls: Freaks of nature caused by a combination of human and feline, these unholy violations of the Sancity of Man and Beast are actually stripped of certain rights. Cat-girls must wear veils to conceal their feline traits in public, or they can opt for free amputations (feliectomy) of their cat features at any hospital in TurtleShroom. Once the features are gone, they are like a human.
- Dirtbags/Nothing Class: Criminals, Satanists, Pastafarians, Nazis, adherents to parody religions, Discordians, homosexuals, scammers, mobsters, traitors, deserters, treasonists, and, in certain mooching cases, a handful of the Impoverished. These are pretty much scum and recieve little mercy or compassion from everyone else.
- Criminals:The closest thing to slaves in TurtleShroom, criminals- after being convited by the due process of law -are despised and worked like such in TurtleShroom's unregulated, privatized, unmerciful prisons. Felons can not ever vote in TurtleShroom or own weapons, and that doesn't even begin to describe capital punishment.
