Lansis has talked to the new coach of the Zarblese national team, Senior Miagi, before the trip of the group to Queer Poco El Mono Ara, where they'll play the Cup of Harmony

Lansis: What can we expect from Zarbli in the Cup of Harmony?
Miagi: A balanced and well trained team, and players that can play with not only their hearts, but also their minds.

Lansis: And in terms of results?
Miagi: Results will come in time. We've got to realize we are still a small team in comparsion with all the other participants, one of the lowest ranked. But with time, patience and constant work, we will get the results we want.

Lansis: You have said your team would be very different from that of [former coach Paulo] Gomen, but the list of players you called contains almost the same players Gomen used.
Miagi: I don't like to compare my work with that of my colleagues. Even though that team was not successful, the players are not to be blamed. They are the best we have in the 12 nations, so there is no reason why I should not work with them. Even so, expect major differences between that team and this one.

Lansis: What would those differences be?
Miagi: The most important is focus.

Lansis: Meaning...?
Miagi: You see, peace and balance are the most important thing in one's life in order for he or she achieve its goals and work properly. And in order for having such peace and balance, one needs to have focus. He or she needs to know exactly where he or she wants to go and what he or she wants to conquer. Without focus, there is no peace, and one cannot work properply with his or her mind wandering through shade areas of concern; and there is no balance, for one is not able to know when or how to make the correct decisions. That is focus.

Lansis: And what would this focus be on?
Miagi: Why, victory, of course!

Lansis: What can you expect from our opponents in the first round?
Miagi: We expect a frank match agains Somewhereistonia, that has a yong and offensive team. We'll have to able to hold them and try counter-attacking. We are still studying Jasiyun, but know that they will be great foes as well. The players are familiar with Silver Beach, since they already played against them in the World Cup Qualifyers, so it will be an interesting match for sure. Andossa Se Mitrin Vega plays defensively, so we'll have to try and trespass its wall, composed of great players.

Lansis: Any message for the Zarblese football fans following the squad?
Miagi: Watch us with your hearts, but judge us with your minds.

Lulika City News: Drawn with the host!!

In the 43rd cup of harmony, where Silver Beach was recently ranked 90th in the world in international football, they found trouble with their draw. They are with Somewhereistonia, the hosts of the Cup of Harmony, and other very strong teams, so this could be trouble. The problem is that they will not have the home field advantage, even with their traveling fans, they have been allocated only 10,000 tickets for that match, so expect a loss there. In their other matches, they will do OK, but overall, especially with transfer season starting in the Premier League, expect them to do badly. Do not expect them to go to the knockout stages, if they do, Daniel Adams will DEFINITLEY get a raise. But, at least Tolietdonia also has a tough group, so our main rivals will not advance either. GO RED STARS!!

"People, I belive that we can beat Zarbli, our players are very familiar with them, since we played them twice in WCQ. But, the 41st ranked team in the world, and the favorite to win the group, Jasiyun, is very strong, but I believe we can play them to a draw. But, we should be able to beat the 78th ranked team in the world. Rankings do not matter on the pitch, and with this, I believe we can go to the knockouts as the second-place team in the group." Says Daniel Adams, the manager.

The Vonghurst Star
Virabia will need some luck

RIG - Just a couple of days ago the Cup of Harmony was nothing more than a collection of 40 teams, who had no Idea who they'd be playing and what challenges they'd face. However, that ignorance is no more as now the groups have been drawn, the settings picked and the schedule set. This tournament is set to go.

However, with all the excitement and anticipation there is still the cold feeling for some teams that know that their run will probably end after a brief four games. One of those teams is most likely Virabia as they were drawn into a group with quite a few teams that it would take a miracle or three to beat.

First before we look at the other teams, we must first look at Virabia.

Virabia (111) - Not only are we the worst team by rank in the group, but we are also coming off a disgraceful World Cup Qualifying Campaign. Thus, the Nats' will likely be bottom dwellers in the group. However, that may not be the case if they can pull out wins against Toiletdonia and South Norwega. Those wins could elevate the team to third, but if the Qualifiers taught us anything, one will likely end up a draw and the team will place near the bottom, if not at the bottom. Still, the qualifiers were a different time, under a different manager w/ a different philosophy and with a different squad so anything is possible.

Group Projection: 4th

Group 2
Pasarga (36) - Ranked 36, these World Cup host hopefuls will probably blow away most of the group, garnering four or even 5 wins. They are also a favourite to go far, with some predicting them reaching the final. We'll just have to see how far they end up going.

Group Prediction: 1st

Jesselton (52) - The second highest ranked team in the group and another candidate to go pretty far. Expect to see them do well in the group and even give Pasarga a run for their money. They were close to making the World Cup and if they can maintain form they will be a team to fear.

Group Prediction: 2nd

Toiletdonia (94) - Even though they are 94th they will probably do well and could possibly hold Jesselton to a draw. However, they may also end up drawing Virabia and will likely finish third. However, despite this they are the dark horse in the group, and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if they do end up making it out of the group.

Group Prediction: 3rd

South Norwega (93) - While they are the third best team in the group (by KPB rank) they will probably be one of the dissappointments of this cup and will find themselves in trouble. Possibly thwy could go 0-0-5, but they could still end up beating either Toiletdonia and/or Virabia.

Group Prediction: 5th

What happened next? The conclusion to the bizarre storyline of the world cup qualifiers, at least for now... [OOC: This was meant to be posted during the qualifiers but, meh].

Taska opened his eyes again, attempting to make sense of what he had seen whilst he was, what was he doing? Had he been asleep?

Bob: "Ahh, I see that you're finally woken up. You should keep playing into your 40s or 50s or whatever now, should live till your about 120 as well."

Taska: "How long was I out?"

Bob: "You want that in a time that corresponds to Earth time?"

Taska: "Err, I think so"

Bob: "About 3 days, although you won't have missed that much time when I take you back. Kukas is the only one to miss any time really. Special circumstances for him."

Taska: "So, he has been implanted with some knowledge?"

Bob: "Yes, in case something happens to me, he'll effectively take over my role, the time becoming obvious to him when stuff should happen and so on. He won't know it until it happens. Better that way, less people die, I mean, suffer I mean, just shut up."

Taska: "So where is Kukas, and what happens now?"

Bob: "Kukas is resting, he'll be here in a moment, then I can take you both back, before I take a well earned break."

Taska: "You're going on holiday? May I ask where?"

Bob: "Well, I've been to most places, I might just fly about the universe on the gators you lot provided. Oh, also, here is a flash drive, give it to your military boffins when you get back."

Taska: "What's on it?"

Bob: "Just some stuff to allow pillywiggin-gator breeding to create a force of super-gator-soldiers. Nothing too important, just you lot provided me with some gators, thought I'd repay the favour."

Skormilonski: "Urgh, there you are, I just woke up with my head spinning, something about clarity of the universe."

Bob: "Very good, I better send you two home now then."

Bob then skipped out of the room, followed by the dizzy and ambling pair of footballers, Bob then led them to the edge of a room, a precipice from which nothing could return

"C'mon, c'mon, let's get going" Bob then leapt onto a waiting platform, one like they players had arrived on; whenever that was, get on then Taska and Skormilonski then followed suit, leaping into the abyss only to touch down on the solid platforms just out from the surface. The platforms zoomed away, back to that big oak door, that door which stood before that room, and the portal which would lead them back to Qasarian and home.

"Right, you'll find the portal through there, I myself will now be off, time to fly on some gators methinks. You be good now!"

Bob's platform then turned and carried him off into the distance, perhaps never to been seen again, perhaps still to be pulling the strings behind them. All the two former team-mates knew is that they wanted to get home, onto solid ground. Dragging the door open they discovered the portal, They turned to face each other "this is it" Taska announced before stepping through into the warped blue light, followed by Skromilonski.

They were back, in the centre of Qasarian, home, no injuries, Taska felt noticably younger and Skormilonski, well, he was glad to be back. "What the hell do we do now?" Skormilonski asked?

"We go back to the team, I guess."

Meanwhile, far, far away in the depths of space:

The Uirian team was under tremendous pressure to outperform their third place finish of the last Cup of Harmony. The team had failed miserably during the qualification attempt for the last World Cup and with a 6-6-6 record, there wasn't much to blame however many thought that it wouldn't be long before Vitor Danra and Barbosa Zul gracefully exited the world of football and let the next generation of players take over for them. Already the "next generation" of players were making their way into the roster and it wouldn't be long now before Vitor Danra and Barbosa Zul were simply replaced instead of voluntarily leaving.

All of this was fervently denied by both the players themselves, the coaching staff and the team's management. Barbosa Zul was on the verge of his one hundred and thirtieth cap for the team and they were going to try to capitalize upon his goalscoring prowess and teamwork with Vitor Danra in order to do their very best to win the Cup. There were many teams who would be considered to be better than the Uirian team in the sport and it would be a tough challenge to beat them. The coach had been changed up and ironically the results from the last world cup qualification were considered worse than the results which forced the coach to be replaced in the first place. People were quick to wave it off, having to replace the coach too frequently would hurt the team's chances overall and it was possible that the coach was just trying to get used to the team and adjust to their strengths and weaknesses. 6 wins, 6 draws and 6 losses and Uiri was only ranked one less than they had been the last time they had entered the cup.

Many were doubting that the Uirian team would make it past where they had gotten stuck last time around although this was football and miracles and upsets were a regular part of the game. There were those who doubted that the Uirian team would be able to manage it to the quarter-finals and would fall consierably in ranks because of the team's general incompetence. They posited that the team's incompetence would feed upon itself - Danra and Zul would quit if the team didn't manage to do well in this tournament and indeed, the Cup of Harmony was now considered the real challenge because Uiri was always within reach of the coveted prize. Usually they were in reach of qualifying for the World Cup proper but were they to be knocked out many thought that it would be worse for their rankings than winning the Cup of Harmony. Only time would tell if the Uirian team had what it took to make it to the final match of the Cup of Harmony and hopefully they wouldn't have tp replace their coach again.

Internet blog:
Well I had a sinking feeling as we started the flight. And it wasn't the dinner coming up from my tummy. With Toa Tota missing along with player manager Milak we could be struggling to get anywhere. The last we heard of them they were in the jungle but no one knows where they are now. The last word they said to me was:

"Oi keep that mash away from it stains!"

Wise, wise words. We have been trying and trying but we still don't know where they are it is a complete mystery. I'm still looking forward to this and I think we could get somewhere in this cup. There are several good teams in the group and that includes us. It will be as hard as escaping a black hole but I still think it is possible. I remember our coaches last words before we got on the plane:

"Remember to avoid being sick hyper ventilate at take-off and then take a sweet."

They're still ringing in my ears. After winning the Vvardenfell world cup special we fell ready to take this cup on but it will be hard. I'm not scared of a lot of thing and this group is one of them we have:

Group 2
Pasarga (36)
Not completely unbeatable a draw would be reachable though. I think we could pull it off but it won't be a walk in the park.
Jesselton (52)
This team doesn't have a happy history as far as we are concerned but thats fine we can still beat them.
Toiletdonia (94)
Us w00t!
South Norwega (93)
Better ranked than us but they could struggle at this first hurdle.
Virabia (111)
Older than us but nowhere near the rank. We can beat them for sure as it happens.

That's all for this blog so see you next time and bye. This is Jankor signing off.

La Verdad

If lake waters had come to quench fire, they didn't do it very well!

Sortani defends new attack

The Cup of Harmony began with a bye day for Aguazul. They were drawn into Group 1, and will play in Capitol and Dynami Arenas, in Somewhereistonia. It's familiar territory for Olivar Bravo and Gunsedal Cisneros, who play their club matches for Qasarian City in Capitol Arena. And the familiarity might come in handy, as both are playing alongside newcomers to Aguazul's starting eleven.

Gonzalo Senra has stepped into the starting lineup after only joining the national team for the previous World Cup qualifiers. To be fair, Pelayo Sortani didn't have much choice; the bench's other outside defender and defender on the right side are equally new to the international scene. Sesmiro Marroquín takes over Senra's departed #16 shirt.

The change up front is perhaps bigger; Chale Cobarrubias finally joins the starting eleven in place of Rubén Saavedra. "He couldn't have stuck around any longer anyway," explained manager Pelayo Sortani. "Saavedra scored, uh...many. Many goals." (42 at last count.) "You can't leave these forwards up front very long, you know. The man's got a legacy to think about."

Sortani himself is new to the team. The previous manager, Cristian Delgado, stepped down after the qualification campaign, citing the dropoff in good news for Aguazul. Sortani led Unión de Ciudagua to the championship just three seasons after they'd been in the relegation playoffs; his experience with a winged formation makes him perhaps an even more natural fit for the national team than Delgado. Look for Aguazul to continue attacking down the sides of the field; the midfield is unchanged from the qualifiers, and hope to continue providing goals.

Then there's Aguazul's goal. Ederoño Manderiaga was unimpressive during the last qualifiers, but is still somehow finding a way to do his job (at least at the club level), and has held on to the #1 jersey. With a short group stage, however, it might not mean much during the group stage; Sortani has announced that Vedillo Bazán will start Aguazul's first match, against Bisgea, and against at least one of Lithatrius and Khytenna. Should the knockout stages await, however, Manderiaga's experience might come in handy.

Creamer’s Corner (32 hits)

Hello everybody. I didn’t get to write in this, because I was saving Erich and Russ. But hopefully for this tournament I will be able to write in this a little more.

Today’s game was hard to watch, because I wasn’t put in, but a great victory. Klinetob had a great night, bagging two goals and an assist, and Erich grabbed a goal and an assist, proving why he is the best talent Undeadzombiee has.

We are at the top of the standings right now, and hopefully it stays that way, because we are ready to win this tourney!

Now we have a tough game against Eastford Lodge, but we are expecting at least a draw, because of our superior play so far. Now, many of our fans may not expect us, since we did terrible during qualifiers, but I have three reasons why we will win, or at least draw.

1.) We were missing two starters, one playing sub, and another sub for the majority of the qualifying. I don’t know about you, but that seems bad. We have full strength, and have thirty eight games under our belts, with a total record of 17-9-12, not a bad record overall. We have had great tourneys, like the Baptism of Fire, Warkus Professional Soccer League, and Toiletdonian International.
2.) We have vastly improved since the World Cup. We were, before the World Cup ranked 179th, now we are ranked 104th.
3.) We are confident. Before we just wanted to get it over with, now we want to win.

Goodbye, and don’t forget to watch us!

"and surely a chance here... And he pokes it wide! Brodif really should have scored there, what a silly error to make and in this rematch from World Cup qualifying it's still Kelssek nil, Khytenna nil!"

The smell of roasting meat filled the room. Mikhail hadn't been sure what he'd been expecting of an elf's South Spadina apartment, and had little idea if he had any discernible reaction to its inoffensive ordinaryness - the unstrung longbow and quiver of arrows hanging on the kitchen wall excepted. He wasn't even sure if he'd cause offence by inquiring about it, but Davís had noticed him noticing it and felt obliged to offer some kind of explanation.

"Mostly to remind me of home, but I go hunting in the Kawarthas sometimes. Go ahead and take it down if you want. It's not fragile or anything."

Mikhail ran his finger over the elaborate decorative work etched onto the wood. "Would I be racially stereotyping if I assumed you were good at using this?"

Davís grinned. "No. Well, it's relative. I'm about average, for an elf, but obviously we all learn to shoot at a young age and it's a skill we use all the time. Just like I'm sure your rural cousins are better with guns than you are."

"Is he warming up to come onto the pitch? It's a bit early for a substitution... No, it seems he was just bothered by that seagull sitting in the technical area and wanted to chase it away..."

The door buzzer sounded and Davís went over to the intercom panel. "Nait-ti Galain? Tel am."

Within a couple of minutes an elf with shoulder-length brown hair, wearing jeans and a green plaid shirt, entered through the front door. "Maer, Davís!" he said. They clasped hands and gave each other a tap on the back.

In English, Davís introduced Mikhail, "This is Mikhail Gobrynin, Galain. Ex-national team centre-back. We're both working together on the NSN now." Turning to Mikhail, he added, "I went to school with Galain."

Galain and Mikhail shared a solid handshake. "Nice to meet you, man. Pity about the qualification."

"Well, that's actually why we're here." Davís said. A brief highly amusing brouhaha had broken out when media executives realised Kelssek wasn't going to be in the World Cup finals and that the broadcast rights for it didn't necessarily extend to the Cup of Harmony, leaving CSC, a sports cable channel which was a subsidiary of Channel 12 Networks to smugly fend off approaches from the NSN to buy the rights. As a result, NSN had put its Hard Hitting Team Kelssek Panel on hiatus and Davís and Mikhail now had a good bit of free time on their hands.

However, that wasn't what Davís was referring to. "And that's why I asked you along, Galain. You played in the Syargoith football club, didn't you?"

"I see where this is going... yes, and I'm on good terms with a lot of the coaches there."

"Hold on to that thought, cause here comes dinner." Grabbing a wet towel to use as an oven mitt, Davís brought out a tray of steaks.

"Well you know Kelssek are unbeaten in their last 7 matches during which a flock of seagulls have landed in the stadium..."

LOSS TO TOILETDONIA
SNTHSG

Well, the scoreline reflected the ranking difference between the two teams. South Norwega, ranked 93, going down to a spirited Toiletdonia, (94), 1-0. The only goal of the match was brilliantly punched through by Temo Yenco in the 14th, after a rare Eden fumble. After that, the game settled on to a largely bland affair, with much of the play held up in the middle. Toiletdonia had the best of South Norwega though for much of the second, with their possession bordering on 60%, but goalkeeper Churchill stopped the lead from blowing out. Manager Elizabeth Windsor has said she is greatly disappointed in the team's lack of spirit and effort, and will "give the team some spirit, to revive their spirit". Noting her past activities, this lends itself to much of the team being force-fed with Vodka, which will surely be televised nationally. Unlike the game, of course. Starring performances from the traditional heart of the team, Thatcher, Eden and Callaghan, failed to make any breaks in the Toiletdonia defence. The CoH campaign starts off poorly for South Norwega. Just as predicted by the articles from foreign newspapers.

Toiletdonia has predicted that we will "struggle at this first hurdle", which seems fairly prescient now.

Virabia predicted that we would come last in the group, which is so far accurate. But for this insult we shall defeat them in our next match, against them, tomorrow. They will regret their snub.

BURCHADINGER TIMES
DIE ADLER HELD TO A DRAW

Burchadinger's hopes of making the second phase remain in the balance after a disappointing draw with unfancied Novikov. Burchadinger opened the scoring after 13 minutes with a well-worked goal for Markus Klogh but Novikov hit back almost immediately, Czech Ctvrtlanik scoring a stunning free-kick. In the stifling heat of Somewhereistonia, Novikov, so impressive in the first half, went into defensive mode for the second 45. But though Burchadinger launched a series of attacks in an attempt to secure the winning goal, Novikov's defence held firm to register their first point of the competition. The result leaves Burchadinger floundering in third place. The team will not play tomorrow.

Novikov, still looking slightly shaken after their failed World Cup Qualification, were much the brighter of the teams in the first half and it was somewhat against the run of play when Burchadinger opened the scoring after 13 minutes. From a Hans-Mayer Hansen cross, Dynamo Dresden's Edwin Pedersen cushioned a perfectly weighted knock-down to Klogh who pounced to score. But Novikov refused to be bowed and if anything upped the tempo. Just four minutes later, their creative industry was rewarded when Ctvrtlanik pulled them level. The busy Bertók Balázs was fouled just outside the box and Ctvrtlanik stepped up to curl a superb left-foot shot past goalkeeper Klaus Diefenbaker into the top corner. Novikov continued to make the more clear-cut chances, with Ctvrtlanik a constant menace to the Burchadingan defence, and they were unlucky not to take a first-half lead. Stjepan Brasič's best chance came after 20 minutes when he wriggled his way into the box, only for his shot to go wide. But Burchadinger's defence withstood the pressure and they had opportunities to restore their lead when, approaching the end of the first-half, Novikov gave away two free-kicks in dangerous areas. However, Wilhelm Sigmundson and Klogh were unable to take advantage, both of their shots failing to clear the Novikov wall.

In the second half, Burchadinger went desperately in search of a winner but as the minutes ticked by, their energy levels visibly dropped along with the quality of their build-up play. Indeed, Novikov could have sneaked an unlikely second goal in the dying moments when Lech Ctvrtlanik latched onto a cross just outside the area but his fierce shot was tipped over by Diefenbaker. And as the final whistle blew, it was the dogged players of Novikov who celebrated, while Burchadinger rued their side's inability to turn pressure into goals.

Summary
In matchday 1, Andrewboy kicked off there Coh(Cup of Harmony) Campaign with a difficult matchup with Osarius. A point would be great to get as next match Andrewboy will face on of the pre-tournament favourites Kosovoe. Match
Code: Select all
Osarius:1                  Andrewboy:1
Mariana 67th               Burton 72end

It was a fairly uneventful match. the first half had a couple of good chances, but no team could really muster a golden chance. The second half proved much more eventful. As tiredness started to insure, Osarius landed the first blow with Ryerson putting it through for Mariana, him wrong footing Sinclair and finishing well into the bottom corner. Andrewboy came back soon tough, with Flent hitting it long, Malt heading it back, Johnson pulling the trigger with a volley from 22 yards going low and the keeper pushing it onto the post with his fingertips but Burton was there to slam in the rebound. The game was back and fourth for a bit but the game ended on level terms with neither squad managing to pull away with more than 1 point.

CUP OF HARMONY 43 - Whirl Islands held to a draw in their first match

WITH THE LAST BREATH

By: Jairo Meluk,
Sports Editor and Special Correspondent,
Khaldoon, Queer Poco el Mono Ara

KHALDOON, QUEER POCO EL MONO ARA (WIP) - When everything seemed to suggest that F1-Insanity would get their first victory in the Cup of Harmony 43, Michael Neill's header in injury time allowed the Whirl Islands to achieve a 1-1 draw and score their first point in this tournament. This match was valid for the Group 6 of the Cup of Harmony 43, which also contains Uiri, Swartaz and Senzymnia.

The opening minutes were back and forth, and therefore entertaining. While the Islanders pushed for long balls and crossed to progress in the field, F1-Insanity's players chose it from below, using short, quick passes to connect to their midfield with attack. It is true that there were many situations of risk, but each had its own in the 5th minute. The first accounted for the Islands and originated in one of the strong points of the team: free kicks, but Thomas Hatchet's header found the rival goalkeeper's hands. The second one was for to F1-Insanity when, unmarked, one of their strikers appeared right, but his shot was contained soberly crossed by Ryan Nixon. It was the only move that the rival team baste this edge, as at 28', after a good combination with the same player, a midfielder topped off target from close range.

At this point, the BoF 37 champions had already the lead of the game, but not the consistency to corner the Islanders, who even were about to score their first goal in their second foray deep into the area, an appearance of Reggie Gamboa, after a good passage of Gilbert Phillips, which was narrowly saved by the rival goalkeeper. At the end of the first half, Nixon was again responsive to deflect an attempt made by a rival striker.

That feeling that F1-Insanity were doing better the things at the pitch was reflected in the first minutes of the complementary half, after a striker won his marker's back and, after a precise center for one of their midfielders, shot from one of the corners of the smaller area to the goal (0-1, 50'). The advantage in the scoreboard didn't relaxed F1-Insanity's players, but it allowed them to pass delayed a few meters and finally giving to the Whirl Islands the problem of what to do with the ball at their feet. Thus, as the Islanders deepened their attacks, their rivals had more space for the backlash. In this way, in fact, a striker almost scored the second goal in the 69th minute.

In the absence of their rivals' offensive weight, the BoF 37 champions went ahead in the field again with the clear intention of settling the match and avoid any surprises. Maybe they thought that the worst was over when a header from Gamboa went just wide with three minutes remaining. Error: in the last ball of the afternoon-night, a center of Gamboa found the head of Neill and Whirl Islands reached the equalizer (1-1, 90'+3').

The match finished with a draw, and with several doubts to solve for the Islanders, too. Despite the draw, which for some people was undeserved, the team kept showing their lack of offensive power and several mistakes in the defensive area. The match against Uiri, top seed in the group, is important to the Islanders' chances in this group. A victory would help dispel the doubts about the collective functioning of the team, while a draw or a defeat would seriously compromise the chances of the Islanders in the Cup of Harmony.

Postby Virabia » Wed Jun 16, 2010 7:27 pm

((OOC: This is a continuation of my WCQ storyline))

Joaquin was sitting down on a couch, he was feeling awful. The return of his test results were taking much longer than expected. Every second he expected the phone to ring but it wasn't. His family wouldn't get to Atalanta for a day, so he resorted to simply laying in front of the tv. At the moment he was watching the Cup of Harmony. The game was tense struggle between Jesselton and Virabia and he couldn't help thinking that in another world, he would be on that pitch. It was unreal to him that just a few months ago that he was playing right along side some of those men.

As he continued to watch the match, he began to reflect on his time with the team and in doing so he realised that it was so incomplete. He felt like there were so many things that were incomplete, his career for one. Then he thought, Damn, this must be what Choam feels like. Having his talent go to waste. My god, I'm going to be the same. Another gem... While he was in mid thought his phone began to ring. He groaned a little but, when he saw who it was he picked it up.

“Hello, doc”, said Joaquin

“Joaquin, your results are back. I need you to come down to my office so we can go over them.”, said his doctor into the phone. From his voice you could tell that the results were probably not going to be good. Joaquin picked up on this and he started to breathe in and out slowly to contain himself.

“Ok, when should I come down?”, Joaquin said.

“When ever you please”, said his doctor.

“Ok, I'll be there in thirty”, said Joaquin as he hung up the phone.

Joaquin then returned to watching the football match. The game was almost over and Virabia was down by one goal. Then, just as Joaquin began paying attention, Marty Conquest headded the ball in to equalise the game. Considering how much time was left, Joaquin decided that he'd leave for the doctor's office.

@ The Doctor's office:

Joaquin eventually made his way into Dr. Marston's office and quickly he sat down. On a normal day he would be able to do quite well, but today he was beat, either from the disease or something else. However, he was here to learn about the previous.

“Now listen, doc, I know that I'm sick. Now I don't want you to butter this one up for me. Can you pleas just tell me the facts. How long do I have? What will that life be like?”, Joaquin said. He was anxious to get the news.

“Ok, well, Mr. Gurule, this may be tough for you to hear...”

Before Marston could finish, Joaquin had interrupted him, “Just tell me the facts. Please...”

“Ok, well... theres really no good news here. I ran the sample three times and I got the same result everytime.”

“And that is”, said Joaquin who was quite anxious to hear the results.

“Well, I never thought I'd have to say this, but you have a pretty advanced form of AIDS. Whats weird about it is that you've had this for years and none of us have noticed. A real medical oddity.”

“So, how long do I have? Is there any treatment”, Joaquin asked. In hois voice there was a certain level of concern and a level of fear as well.

“Well, I can't say for sure. Probably a year or two maybe three. To answer your second question, there is only one treatment”, said Marston, “and that is advanced anti-viral treatment. However, given how far advanced the disease it is, it'll probably be unsuccessful.”

Joaquin sighed, and started to think about whether or not he should take the treatment or not. He decided that he'd need more information before he proceeded. “Can you explain it to me”, Joaquin asked.

“Sure”, said the doctor and he began to explain the treatment to Joaquin who listened closely.

Undeadzombiee Loss 'Embarrassing'.

Embarrassing is the term that Robo-coach used to describe the performance of the Miceland team. NARF has also expressed disappointment in the 3-1 loss stating that match was “a very important match for the team to win.”

The match started of fine enough with a tight and close first half where each team managed to score a goal things were looking good for Miceland as they managed to create a number of opportunities for themselves but just weren't able to get it in the goal or past the keeper.

However things changed after the half the strikers no longer seemed to be probing the opposing sides, the defenders seemed to be all over the place. The Undeadzombiee were initially confused but started carving through the defenses the only player that seemingly was unaffected was the goalie, Charles EarsMouse, who almost single handedly preventing an utter thrashing by the Undeadzombiee team.

Micelands opponents scored their 2 unanswered goals and claimed the 3 points and the lead on the group table with a Goal Differential of +2. Our next match is against Western Cuba this will be a match that the Mice have to win if they will have any chance of progressing.

Inside the Miceland Dressing Room

“Alright... we need to just ratch it up a notch we've been doing well but we need to do better if we want to claim the points and domination over our opponents. I've been analysing our opponents and I've found a weakness...”

The Robo-coach went into the details of the plan to take advantage of some tactical blunders of the undeadzombiee side. The plan was well thought out and was essentially a good plan however some of the other members of the team had their own plans.

After almost qualifying for the world cup the team had been planning on an advanced mental communication system. Where each team would be able to know exactly where each other are, what they are planning where their opponents are and then enact the plan as a single unit. Of course the goal keeper didn't require the device as it would merely interfere with his concentration on what was coming at him.

They all put the devices on and well, we all know what happened next.

It was a tough group to qualify from, featuring powerful teams from the Landau Institute and the Archregimancy, yet it was a much more difficult task on the last try out, and the new players in the team should not have disrupted the core that still remained in the team following the end of World Cup 50. Toyur will go into the Cup of Harmony with one of the stronger sides, and will look to show the sporting world that qualification for World Cup 50 was not a simple fluke.

"I think as it is we were bloody lucky to get anything," said Milak as he stared at his laptop. Tota walked over to him and shrugged.

"Well I guess we did better than Jesselton our rivals for second place. It could have been worse." Said Tota "I'm surprised you got reception here. Also I'm pretty surprised you agent just ran off like that."

"That's life in the end Toa. That's life. He was rambling on about how he sensed a disturbing presence nearby wonder who it was." Said Milak. As he said that a dark figure appeared behind them with some of the holy empires players.

"Am I dreaming or are they from the Holy empire?" Said Tota. The man in dark clothes walked over to them.

"I AM THE THE INVIGILATOR. YOU TWO HAVE DONE VERY MUCH WRONG!" Said the man in the dark clothes. Milak climbed behind a rock but he picked him out.

"YOU VICTOR USED THE WRONG THERE ALL THE WAY THROUGH YEAR 2!" Said the man in black. Victor burst into tear and sat on the floor sobbing.

"It's true! I am such a horrible sinner!" moaned Milak. He rolled around on the floor in tears.

"AND YOU TOTA. YOU IN THIRD GRADE DIDN'T SPELL GREAT CORRECTLY. YOU SPELT IT G-R-A-T-E AND IT IS G-R-E-A-T YOU FOOL!" Yelled the INVIGAILATOR. Tota burst into tears

"Please no I repent!" Cried Tota with buckets of tears.

"YOU TO ARE SINNERS AND WILL LOSE THE CUP OF HARMONY! BUT FOR NOW I SEND YOU BACK TO YOU TEAM CAMP!" said the INVIGILATOR. There was a poof of gas and suddenly Milak and Tota were in the Toiletdonian training camp.

"Thank god where have you guys been?" asked Jankor. Milak rolled his eyes.

"You wouldn't bloody believe it!" he yelled.

"Well why don't you sit down and update your blogs for a start that'll shut the fans up." said Tellvos. Milak nodded and started typing.

Well it has been a long few weeks for me as I've disappeared. Well here I'm going to tell you exactly what happened. I remember what Toa said as we left our house to head off for a celebrity show based in the jungle.

"Argh! God I'm going to be sick!"

He was in the end. But we soon arrived at the show place after a long flight in first class. It wasn't the best five minutes of my life but it wasn't the worst. Toa foolishly commented on how poor we were then they decided that they couldn't have poor people on the show. They then drugged us and sent us off into the desert. I can remember the guards word as he drugged us:

"Hold still and it won't bloody hurt."

He wasn't that nice anyway. But then we got dumped in the desert. Fortunately we had internet reception so we called for help. My agent came to pick us up but he left after sensing something dangerous. It wasn't long before a weird man dressed in black met us and told us off about my grammar mistakes. He then sent us home and I look up to him for that. Well we won without us and now were back and with vengeance cup of Harmony here we come!

Livia Karazaua was mad. She had hoped her come back to the Zarblese team would be a better one. Well, as a matter of fact, it was better, but not as much as she'd like. One goal. All she wanted was to score one goal. But she hadn't played well, she was nervous, not knowing how it would be for the guys to receive her back after a season playing abroad. And it was tough, she had lost her touch. And being replaced in the beginning of the second half didn't help it either.

By now, she was sitting in the locker-room all by herself, already dressed in the team's coat after a long shower. It was a custom in Zarbli for the guys to take the shower before the girls, so them could take a little longer. As there was just one other girl in the team, and that girl was Elizabef Uindsor, known for not caring that much about long showers and facial creams, after a few minutes she was the only one left, and that allowed her to reflect about how her performance went.

She could feel the weight of her lousy game on her stiff shoulders. Her teeth was ranging, her muscles tense. Goddamn it, they were all waiting for her, for a pass, for a goal, and she did nothing. Could life in Eastfield Lodge compromise that much her performance amongst her countrymates? Life was so different there... sometimes harder, sometimes more joyful. But o so different.

Then she felt a couple of hands in her shoulders.

"Are you lost, little girl?"

"It seems I can't find the way home", she said with a smile, turning her head to see Jenjis Kan, already starting to massage her shoulders.

"You shouldn't worry so much, you see. It's all a matter of letting it go, relaxing and doing what you do naturally", he said as Livia started to relax.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. Coach Miagi is been talking about this all the time. It's just... I don't know, I didn't feel quite as myself."

"Oh, but you are yourself. You're Livia Karazaua, you've been playing for Zarbli way back, even before I came along. You're the goddamn 'Princess of the Penalty Area', wasn't that how you used to be called in Igualibridis?"

Livia smiled as she remembered her days in the white and orange jerseys of Asia FC that led her to the Zarblese national team and, later, to Eastfield Lodge's football.

"I missed this", she said.

"I missed you", he said back.

She got up, turning to Jenjis and looking in his big brown smiling eyes. With a smile, she placed a hand in his cheek:

"You can read me just like a children's book, can't you?"

And then she kissed him, and he kissed her, and the moment extended until infinity. Jenjis - his hands, his smell, his lips - did it. Now she was calm, relaxed. In peace. Coach would be proud.

As the players' lips torn apart, they stood there for some moments, just staring at each other.

"Come on", he said. "Everyone's waiting."

And they walked to the team's bus, her arm around his. She was not feeling any burden upon her. She had Jenjis to support her, and the rest of her teammates as well. And she was feeling like herself again.

DISAPPOINTMENT CONTINUES
Bears manage late draw with Tarrentum
by Anders Alfven

HIIU, SOMEWHEREISTONIA (TP) - If the Toyur men's national football team was hoping to put the bitter disappointment of not qualifying into World Cup 51 behind them, they certainly did not get off on the right foot.

'Poor game all around, really,' said Toomas Ergma, back in his home nation for the Cup of Harmony. 'We got one late, that's great, but we should be putting teams like this away. We'll need to pick up the pace in our last three matches if we want to get out of the group stage and make something of this year. It's been bad all around.'

Tarrentum provided the first opposition for Toyur in Group 4 of the Cup of Harmony. Tarrentum, a fast rising nation yet still prone to inexperience, are not expected to move on from Group 4 if the group predictions are to be believed. As the lowest ranked side in the group, those predictions may have some merit, but the opposition that they provided to the Bears belied their lower rank.

A fairly even first half ended with Tarrentum on top of the contest. A goal from star Falcons striker Henry Quod eluded Anders Eriksson, with the ball swirving to the left on him at a consistent pace. Eriksson could only help the ball along into the goal, but it's final destination had been decided the moment it left Quod's foot. Toyur fired three shots on Tremi Bodacello's goal, but only a Viktor Eklund shot provided any kind of trouble for him. Eklund cut inside of Olli Vaspa and shot towards the far post, but Bodacello was equal to the task and parried it around the post.

Ergma made two subsitutions at half time. Justin Tillström was replaced by Jesper Silfverberg, and Kristofer Svensson made way for Jonas Näslund. The substitutes almost had an immediate impact, with Silfverberg's floating long ball into the box headed just over the bar by Näslund. It sparked the start of a second half where Anders Eriksson had no saves to make in the Toyur goal, and Bodacello made the most of his time on the pitch, making 7 saves before the 85th minute.

Toyur found their long deserved goal after 87 minutes, and it was Viktor Eklund who unearthed it. Showing the creativity that he provides club side Tuleä, Silfverberg went around two defenders before placing a perfect pass across the box, leaving Eklund the task of the easy tap in. Not quite what Bodacello deserved in the Falcons' goal, but the goal was certainly deserved for the Bears, and it wrapped up a point for Toyur.

While the Bears would have preferred a win to open the proceedings, they must take their lessons from the match with Tarrentum and move on to take on the Blouman Empire. Similarly ranked to Tarrentum, it's a win for Toyur on paper, but as the Falcons proved, rank can mean little out on the pitch itself. First is a bye day, where Toyur management will attend the Empire's match with Tarrentum, and the Bears will enjoy two training sessions. The match featuring the Blouman Empire and Tarrentum will be on TSTV3.

ELFA to sue Cup of Harmony hosts

The ELFA are to sue the Cup of Harmony hosts, especially the Pocoan FA after posting a match result for the first day when we weren't even supposed to be involved in at all. Here is the thing they're complaining about:

Group 7

Eastfield Lodge 0-1 Milchama
Undeadzombiee 3-1 Mice of Miceland

Pos Team P W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Undeadzombiee 1 1 0 0 3 1 2 3
2 Milchama 1 1 0 0 1 0 1 3
3 Eastfield Lodge 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
4 Western cuba 1 0 0 1 0 1 -1 0
5 Mice of Miceland 1 0 0 1 1 3 -2 0

whereas the match schedule says that the Eastfield Lodge team a bye on the first matchday. If the ELFA do win the court case, then this could have potentially huge ramifications for the Poconese and their future hosting credentials.
Onto other news, we were drawn into Group 7, with a rank of 55, second to Milchama on a rank of 31, the very same team that we played in the group last time round, and who went on to win the whole thing. They are almost definite certs to advance through the group stages, if not to win the group. We also have in our group a close footballing friend in the form of Undeadzombiee, who come in as 4th seeds, who could cause some surprises to unwary teams. Also with us are Western Cuba, the lowest seed communist team who played Westmeadow Tavern in Baptism of Fire 37, who we should beat comfortably. Completing the group are 3rd seeds Mice of Miceland, who could also pull some upsets, so they need to be looked out for. All in all, it should be the top two seeds who will advance to the knockout rounds. The teams who advance could end up facing co-hosts Somewhereistonia and other footballing heavyweights.
