Prathen is one of the The Sovereign Imperium's oldest cities in existence, but also the focal point for the modernization that constantly sweeps out and embraces the whole of the nation. Our goal was to combine passenger parking and rental cars in one building to save on construction costs and eliminate shuttle busing for rental car users.
The logical spot for the building was a long-term parking lot between the existing three-level parking deck and the control tower. The center houses rental car counters, service functions and up to 1,250 rental cars on the bottom two floors. There are 4,500 public spaces for passenger parking on the upper five floors. A landscaped, atrium-like corridor with sidewalks and moving walkways connects the building to the terminal, where escalators lead up to the baggage claim level.
Prathen International Aerodome provides a unique opportunity to fuse innovative and principal master planning strategies with cutting edge, contemporary airport terminal design. To help meet the technology needs of our passengers, Wi-Fi has been added to infrastructure that accommodates passenger's business needs including:
* Telephone banks in the waiting areas near the gates could be modified to provide computer recharge work stations with wall-mounted recharging shelves.
* New computer carrels providing both seated and standing options.
* Small computer hook-up carrels adjacent to existing seating.
* Restrooms including family restroom facilities.
* Permanent commuter hold room facilities rather than existing temporary commuter modular facilities.
* New commercial passenger boarding bridges at gates
* Enhanced energy efficient LED lighting throughout the terminals.
Features include:
* A centrally located concessions area surrounding an open three-story atrium.
* Baggage claim is visible from above to enhance passenger and greeter way finding.
* Visual perspective through the existing terminal buildings into the secure side concourse and the airfield.
The South Remain-Over-Night (RON) aircraft parking area is being currently extended to the south and west, relocating ten commercial aircraft parking spaces, extending trench drains and fuel lines to the new terminal area, and making room for Terminal D.
Security is outfitted with:
* Camera's
* Motion detectors
*
As of the moment due to construction, there are only two passanger terminals available, one freight terminal and a helicopter terminal.
