Olthar wrote:Name: Rachael Shatterhammer
Sex: Not often enough
Age: 19
Element: Lightning
Theme Song: Ride the Lightning clearly.
Appearance: <picture to be arriving once my internet stops being a bitch for five minutes>
Personality: Rachael has a tendency to be rather conceited and cocksure as a result of having never lost a battle in her whole two years of traveling. She assumes that trend will inevitably continue. She can also come of as rather self-absorbed and lacking in empathy, thinking herself to be destined for greatness. However, she is incredibly loyal to those she deems her friends and surprisingly respectful towards those of rank and authority. Her bravery in battle is also without question, and her desire to be a great hero leads her to be mindful of and protective over her allies. Despite her desire for glory, she won't sacrifice the defensive integrity of the group.
Weaknesses: Rachael was trained in a wide variety of weapons and fighting styles giving her diversity at the expense of skill. Aside from the bow, she only has a moderate-to-minimal level of experience with each weapon she owns and is no match against a dedicated specialist. In addition, her father only trained her in martial combat, leaving her elemental powers underdeveloped.
Equipment, if any: A suit of simple, boiled leather armor; a cloak of cerulean blue decorated with five stiched patterns in the bottom left corner; a horse name Sparkle Shine; saddle bags carrying basic essentials; a large shield strapped to the saddle; and her weapons: a longbow slung across her back, a war axe on her right hip, a dagger on her left hip, another dagger in her right boot, a third dagger in one of her saddle bags, and a heavy lance strapped to the saddle.
Bio: Rachael doesn't know where she was born or who her mother was. Her father never spoke of either. The topic caused him too much pain, she figured. Nevertheless, he did an adequate job as a single parent, and Rachael had a stable adolescence. She was smart, but her father couldn't afford the cost to grant her a proper education, though he did save up as much as he could and bought her books to learn on her own.
When Rachael began exhibiting signs of elemental power at the age of 12, her father was not at all surprised, leading the girl to believe that her mother was an Elemental. With her burgeoning powers came also an undeniable desire for adventure. Over the next several years, her father taught her everything he knew about combat and survival from his days as a soldier and trained her to be self-reliant.
On her 17th, birthday Rachael prepared to set off. Before leaving, she asked her father why he had been so willing to let her do this to which he responded, "You're so much like your mother. I knew I would never be able to stop you from leaving, so I wanted to make sure you were prepared." It was the only time he had ever mentioned her mother.
Rachael then left home and started her adventure. Things were difficult at first, but she eventually got stronger, strong enough to survive in the wilderness. During her travels, she began hearing rumors of some anti-Elemental group. Naturally, this posed a very personal risk to her, and she began digging deeper, hoping to put a stop to their plans.
Rachel hopes to someday make a name for herself as a great hero, and she hopes she'll be remembered forever in legend. For the moment, though, she's satisfied with merely enjoying the journey. The destination will eventually come.
RP Sample: Look to my sample's coming on the fifth day. At dawn, look to the east.

Kudos.

Aside from Tristan and arguably Ero-san, none of the player characters are in any way significant, which is a problem when there are so many. I found myself getting quite irritated at a lot of posts that just seemed to be wasting my time and detracting from the pace of the story. I should never feel that. I can really understand the urge to tell your own tale the way you want it, but that's what books are for. An RP should be more character-driven. That's my two cents.
