Appearance: Here. He's around 6'4, weighs around 275 pounds, and his right eye is scarred and blind. He's about forty three.
Equipment:
This is what he carries with him into battle, as well as what he carries with him outside of his home.
- A Hunting Rifle [3 Extra Magazines]
- 0.32 Caliber Pistol [2 Extra Magazines]
- "Zamtam", his baseball bat. It has a number of nails and spikes of all sorts drilled into it. Zamtam means "Peace" in Sanskrit.
Skills: Aside from his utterly ruthless treatment of both his enemies and allies, as well as being able to shrewdly manipulate opposing factions, he is a skilled, fearless, ruthless, and utterly unpredictable combatant. He fears not death nor pain, and will show that in battle. His hairline temper serves as a great intimidation tool, as does his quiet, yet disturbed, demeanor. His survivalist skills are greatly developed due to his time living off of the rough land. He has shown to be a brilliant tactician, being able to skillfully interact using infantry pieces on a small scale. He isn't too strong a shooter, however, he takes great pleasure and skill in melee combat to a disturbing point, that was mostly experience gained from survivalism in the wild. Strategically, he's completely unpredictable, nearly impossible to track, and extremely well-oriented with the terrain that he operates in.
Personality: Syagrius is a delusional psychopath, a person who wouldn't be able to function in a modern and civilized society. However, in the chaos that is the Wasteland, he can thrive. He is excessively cruel to those that he sees as disposable and unnecessary, and, at best, feigns affection for those that are important or "close" to him. He is utterly anti-social, and considers no one to be truly close to him, and, psychologically, it is impossible for him to have any true close bonds or feelings for those around him. He seems to revel in chaos and the pain of others, and, when in combat, he alternates between extreme calm and complete berserk. In the aftermath, he walks among the dead and dying, taking it all in. He has a hairline temper that can be provoked with the smallest infraction of his own distorted moral code.
Motives: In his own warped reality, he believes that he is the reincarnation of the Last True Roman and that he was put on this Earth to bring his own brand of messed up "civilization" to the rest of the world. In reality, however, he is more a propagator of complete and utter chaos.
Backstory: He was a product of the apocalypse, certainly, though a nicer form of it. He was born to a pair of fairly successful junker merchants in the former Baton Rouge, and grew up most of his life there. He was obsessed with the history of the pre-war, and studied intensively both the religion and the history of the pre-war, most notably taking a vested interest in the Late Roman Empire and Buddhism respectively. As he became a man, he became increasingly obsessed with the books that he read about, eventually submerging himself completely within them. His older brother, seemingly at that point a profound psychopath, was the frequent target of his father's rage, which surfaced every so often when he drank too much. In turn, his older brother began to take out his anger on David. Then relatively physically weak, he couldn't stand up to the continued physical violence. Instead, he found himself immersing himself into the books that he used to read. He became a Buddhist, he became a Roman.
After his older brother went missing one day, David became the target of his father's rage, but not for long. In his own defense, he stabbed at his father with a sharpened metal stick, striking home in his chest cavity, between his ribs, collapsing one of his lungs, causing him to die soon after. David ran away, deep into the swamps at fourteen years of age. Against all odds, he managed to survive in the wild by embracing his "character". He referred to himself as Syagrius, in reference to Syagrius of Soissons, the last true Roman. In accordance of his Buddhist beliefs, he believes that he is the literal reincarnation of the Syagrii, and, like Syagrius, bears the weight of the restoration of civilization upon his shoulders. With nothing left to lose, he devoted himself to the twisted cause of the "restoration of civilization". Adopting his namesake, he became a recluse in the wild, hunting and killing for survival. He began raiding more organized and well-supplied places for supplies like Rad-X. This is how Syagrius got into contact with the bandit group that would later form the core of the Comes.
He attempted to, during the cover of night, steal a large amount of radiation and medical supplies, was caught. But rather than be killed, taken prisoner, or tortured, Syagrius was able to convince these bandits that he had been put onto the Earth to restore civilization to the World, and that, with them, they would start with Baton Rouge. Glory, women, and endless piles of wealth would be theirs for the taking. Needless to say, the relatively weak-minded bandits followed him without question. With their power base of around thirty men, he organized them into a fighting force and himself the Magister Utriusque Militum. They effectively set up a kingdom in the swamp, and carried out scores of guerrilla attacks on other residences. As he grew in power and reputation, more and more errant stray men and women wandered into his service.
As he gained more power, he began to extend his own power base, but soon came into conflict with larger forces, such as the Caesar's Legion and the Enclave. He especially despised the Caesar's Legion, and frequently refers to them as "Pretenders" and "Errant Legionaries". He will often personally lead raids against anything that resembles the Caesar's Legion.
RP examples: I can provide some if you want.
Anything else we should know?: I dunno. If this is too Roman-esque, which is too conflicting with the Caesar's Legion, just tell me and I can revamp it.
Nationstates Name: Jesus.
Faction name: The Comes Danube. (Pronounced "Com-ess Danube")
Faction Leader: Magister Utriusque Militae David "Syagrius" Rothschild.
Faction numbers: For the most part, the Comes Danube is a completely militarized state. Those that are not in the field and available as raiders are used as a workforce to continually improve the Fortress and grow food/hunt for the rest of the Comes. There are around 130 fully committed Comes, and around fifteen more that are used as administrators and full-time work overseers.
Faction Bio: Most of this was included in the biography of David Rothschild, however, it may be prudent to include a bit of it here in case anyone gets a case of tl;dr. After Rothschild convinced a small group of bandits to join his cause to create his own civilization, and with that comes with endless bounty and prestige, he set up a small settlement that would eventually become Fort Soissons, named after the capital of the Historical Syagrius' domain. From there, he conducted numerous raids against who Rothschild refers to as "Pretenders", who he says had "disillusioned ideas of civilization". He had soon gained a reputation for himself, and brought from all around wayward and errant souls. His numbers over the years increased and swelled, eventually gaining up to around one hundred and thirty members. They've had a number of clashes with both the Caesar's Legion and the Enclave, as well as the Brotherhood of Steel, and other local power groups. The Comes has gained a local reputation for being utterly ruthless towards their enemies.
Starting Location: Fort Soissons, a fortress that is deep within the wildlife outside of Providence. It is a classic-style Bandit Fortress, that has a number of ramshackle buildings and barracks' that house the majority of the population of the Comes. Surrounding this is a wall that is made up primarily of a stone base that supports a wooden palisade. The barracks' are mostly made up of the same stone base that the wall is, and the walls and roof are made up of an amalgamation of old sheet metal and wood. The oldest building, the Palatium, is where Syagrius lives, alone. It's build around an old pre-war quarry.
Goals: To fulfill whatever the wish of their Magister Utriusque Militae, Syagrius. They essentially live to create chaos and hamper the construction of civilization around them all the while building up their own, Syagrius' vision of "civilization".
