Exposure to violence does make people violent. I have seen the repetition of this again and over and over again.Indira wrote:Video games don't make you violent. Violent video games don't make you violent.
I don't disagree with that policy. Violence should not be exposed to anyone at any time. What society must work on is our nonviolent communication and peaceful problem solving skills. And of course, following that logic, we should boycott thousands of books (especially history books. People will insist on fighting bloody wars), films and plays. (Macbeth and Greek tragedies come to mind)

If you watch a play through of a violent video game, you will see the player taking joy in hurting non playable characters or virtual representations of people. I pleasure in any kind of violence as harmful because the players of these video games could be showing love to real people instead.

Or they could be killing real people instead.
Of course this is not an evidence that violence in video games is harmful (especially when harm is defined as causing violence). I was looking for some sort of journal article or perhaps even conference proceedings...

These posts are fine in moderation but I think that some things people say can be nicer and more considerate of how other people feel.Ifreann wrote:Great Nepal wrote:Or they could be killing real people instead.

Why are you posting on NSG when you could be showing love to real people instead? Stop being so violent!
